Someone on reddit posted a pic of the concept art characters from the DATV artbook and I'm just...so tired and disappointed.

We could have had Calpernia as a companion, not even mentioning Imshael.

This clearly shows that they initially - in whatever iteration of the game it is - cared about incorporating aspects of previous games. Imagine having Calpernia, Harding, and Imshael as companions and not having them comment/acknowledge the events of Inquisition! Imagine Calpernia talking and giving insight into Corypheous or Samson, or arguing with Harding in banter! Imagine Imshael talking about Michel deChevin or complaining that the Inquisitor stabbed them! Not to mention the other concept art that had Dorian and Isabela interacting - try making anything like that happen without acknowledging DA2 or DAI!

Can you imagine having all these characters in the game, then having the nerve to drop 'the south of Thedas is blighted and destroyed now lol' in a letter? No!

We live in the worst timeline with DATV - a game that utterly watered down, sanitized, and obliterated everything that came before it. A game that removed all mystery and intrigue, condensing it to "solas and the ancient elves did it lol' - telling us with no gravitas, bluntly stating it with the subtly and care of a fucking dragon in a tea shop. A game that, with no shame, went scorched earth with Ferelden, Kirkwall, and Orlais with the sole intent of clearing the board so that they can cultivate some new IP with the existing Dragon Age name.

What a fucking waste.

they added 2 half life inspired maps to tf2, one has a voice of a scientist telling you things, the otger one doesn't, but has a box thing with the half life symbol on it (altho I think it said p and then had a lambda?)

cool maps, ones a reskin of monster bash tho. And imo, I'm not the happiest (not upset upset, just sorta conflicted) with the fandom tryna add in their own canon? I don't really know how canon all the community maps are but it feels weird to try and make tf2 be in the same universe as half life/portal.

Also one of the maps had a Brazil variant of Australium, (brazilium), it's green, kinda neat, but again, the fandom sort of adding their own canon I guess. I wonder how the brazilium works since I doubt it'd do the same thing as Australian.

Sorry my bad. I put Iruka when I meant Shino lol. He even got awkward when he was caught talking to the Kurama plush. As for Iruka, he’d definitely at least be tolerant of Kurama. After all it’s known that Naruto and Kurama work together in harmony now, and Iruka as principal revamped the entire school system to teach kids better than what it did when he was a teacher. It’s not like the Orochimaru situation where Naruto never informed Tsunade, Konohamaru, and Elders that Orochi is Mitsuki parent

Tsunade was one of the biggest retcons ever, like Tsunade, out of anyone, who definitely grew up at least for some years with grandpa and especially granduncle who was prejudiced as fuck against the Uchiha, the same Tsunade who poured what little ressources she had and allowed precious youths (and the jinchuriki !) to go "rescue" an Uchiha instead of sending anbus after his ass...

Now puts the blame of Orochimaru's actions on his kid ?

Ffs Orochimaru helped her when she was bissected and they had a "talk" about his role and what he wanted to do next.

That's, imo, one of the worst retcons of this sequel (and is it any coincidence that tsunade is a woman ? Remember the Kishimoto axiom !).

Back to Iruka, of course Iruka is supposed to be one of the few sensible adults (who acts as one !) in the verse, so he wouldn't lash out at Kurama now that he seemingly turned over a new leaf... But there's still the unacknowledged truth that Iruka was an orphan because Kurama got a bad hair day.

Like, Kishimoto put more care and work to show how Gaara wanted to "change" after his defeat and wants, not to make up bcs that's impossible, but at least help the people he trashed before, you have him apologise to his siblings just after Naruto defeated him and then he goes to help Lee during the rescue sasuke arc-

Because even if Gaara got a "sad'n'lonely" flash-back and backstory, he (kishi ?) acknowledges he did a bunch of "wrong stuff" and wants to make up for it, as much as it's possible.

Idk how Boruto could have dealt with it, maybe Kurama takes over one of Naruto's random clones and wants to help Iruka with his work at the academy but sucks at it, and at the end of the day, Iruka'd tell him he knows he's not Naruto, and while he still misses his parents, Kurama helped the village back then, and even now so he's grateful, with Kurama denying everything bcs tsundere stuff, but he still tries to get better at grading tests, saying something weird like nurturing buds to make up for the ones he once cut.

I think Emelynn is on some level too prideful to use her more powerful machinist inventions in most fights. It would make things too easy, y'know? She prefers getting in there with her axe because it proves she's not afraid of getting in the thick of it. Sure she could do the Machinist LB3 at any time and nuke the boss from orbit.... but that's not how it works, is it?

It's about sending a message. It's about confidently striding up, axe in hand, and standing tall in the face of whatever egomaniacal threat dares challenge her this week.

The machinist weapons stay locked up unless it's an absolute emergency. If you see Emelynn drop the axe... You know it's bad.

Was telling my roommate this, but lord above I love scifi that's NOT made by americans. Don't get me wrong, tons of american scifi that I adore! But when I wanna explore new shit, I often go towards something made elsewhere. Why? Because, god bless us, we solve like 80% of our fictional problems with guns. It's just weapons and violence as a solution, even when it ends up being the WRONG solution, the characters still try it first. We still cling to it as a solution in our stories. The hero MUST be a badass, or at least have one guy on the team who solves everything with his array of scifi guns and explosives.

But because guns AREN'T so obsessively wrapped up in other peoples' cultures the way they are in american culture (we're seriously so annoying about guns), their scifi approaches its problems differently. I'm fine with the occasional action scifi with shoot-'em-ups but I prefer watching something where I can see NEW and INTERESTING solutions characters use when they can't just nuke the problem from orbit, you know?
