WHAT IF when Eddie returns his uniform Buck takes his name tag and pockets it. He tells himself it's because Eddie's gonna come back and he'll need it. But he also just wants to have something of his. He keeps it in his pocket and rubs his thumb over the engraved 'DIAZ' to calm himself down.

Maybe on a particularly dangerous call he goes to touch it and realizes it's gone so he frantically looks for it, putting himself back in danger. He finds it and escapes just in time. Naturally, Bobby's pissed but Buck can't bring himself to tell him he risked his life for a fucking name tag. But Bobby suspects it has something to do with Eddie.

When Eddie comes back, Buck either places the name tag in his hand with a shy smile OR the first time Eddie puts his uniform back on Buck carefully and meticulously fastens it on his shirt while Eddie stares at him in awe.

"There. Right where it belongs."

"Are you talking about the pin or me?"

"Yes ☺️"
