Aera: How do you know how to kiss? Like who teaches you?
Rama: Well it’s actually a class, but unfortunately it’s full right now.
Rama: Would you like me to tutor you?
Min: That was smooth.

She hated him, no she despised him, no she loathed that disgusting, horrid, weasel of a man. She despised his cheap ass fur coat, his unnecessary bling and those pants! Her blood would boil at the mere name of that demonic, immature moron, she despised every little detail about him; his angular face, his sharp eyes that would glimmer like the stars swirling with pure mischief, his light chuckle that would ring in her ears like the voice of an angel, oh and she really, really, abhorred the way he'd look at her, with the warmth of pure love - NO!
Mentally slapping herself she cleared her throat, rehearsing the first stanza of hatred that ran hot in her veins for the infamous leader of MATZ. Technically it was just two men, boys who were usually called in for petty crimes turned into men who were now challenging the system- a knock-off of any vigilante out there. Batman, Daredevil, even the Punisher, see these men had class and style- MATZ, well, they had style...but perhaps the fact that explaining how her once high school friends are now notorious criminals or wannabe Robinhood would be a bit difficult. Perhaps this little fact only added to her current presiding problem, one she had mentioned to her lover, explicitly mentioning her concerns; for the safety of his life and her professional career. Once again, that bastard let his deflated ego in the way, her words bouncing off it without ever reaching his useless, dysfunctional brain.
So, here she stood, in front of her captain, watching him go on and on about the need for order and justice, the need for law and police work, and more importantly the need for loyalty. Loyalty, a trait that was of importance, though her's was being questioned.
"Where do your loyalties lie detective?"
"With the force, Sir" With a salute she looked dead ahead, not at him, no, through him, trying to figure out the answer to this very question. Where did her loyalties lie?
"Then how is it, you've been leading the task force to capture MATZ for three years and each time you are close they miraculously slip away!" his large, meaty hands slammed on the table, her partner beside her flinching, though not a jerk left her bones. Instead, her eyes flickered to his face, instantly scanning his form, this man looked like anything but eh definition of justice, safety and security - if anything, he looked more like a criminal than that moron of hers.
"I assure you, Sergeant, my loyalties lie where my heart has ever since I was a little girl. My friendship with Joong- " pausing she cleared her throat, ignoring the way he raised a brow at he before glancing at her partner as if hinting at something "MATZ, both Kim Hongjoong and Park Seonghwa ended as soon as they started this life of crime."
"I don't trust you an ounce detective, not one bit." slumping back in his seat he stared up at her, "But the Captain trusts ya for some reason, believes you a good egg- I just think you're a cracked egg, too far gone for anything else- so I'll tell you this, I'm on to ya, I'll be watching you, listening to you, from the moment you step into his precinct ill be watching your every move."
.
"Well, that was something." Jongho muttered, closing the door behind him, "Do you...want to grab a bite or something?"
"I'm good." giving him a small smile she sat back at her desk, sifting through the papers, not a word written processing in her already occupied mind. The traffic of thoughts only stopped when a hand rested on hers, "I may be younger than you, but we're partners, and my mentor has always told to me trust my partner. "
His soft words, followed by his cute smile had her sigh in defeat, sitting back down and nodding, "Some mentor you have, huh?"
"She's the best of the best." Puffing up his chest with pride he placed his hands on her desk, "Now, what can I do, to make my mentor feel better."
"Nothing, really Jong, I- " her words caught up as she noticed something. Her eyes caught the way her system was on, the screen lit up, the mouse icon moving on its own, she was being - shit. Instantly reaching for the cable, she pulled the plug on the CPU.
"Um...did you see what I just saw?"
"Jongho, get Yunho and tell him to track whatever the hell that was."
"Yes, Ma'am."
.
The door slammed shut, the darkness just adding to her anger, of course, he wouldn't turn on the lights, no lamp or bulb, choosing to sit on the small balcony - maybe she should just push him off, the idea extremely tempting at this point.
Placing her badge and gun on the table she made her way to the small balcony at the other end of the living room, making sure to turn on a lamp on the way out. Sliding the door open she sighed, the cool breeze prickling her warm skin, a shiver running down her spine as she stepped out completely, barely missing the small table as she made her way to the seat her boyfriend was currently sprawled on, limbs extending like the roots of the potted plants behind him. His head lay against the cushioned headrest, turning his head to face her, an easy smile making its way to his face, the warm glow of the fairy lights from the wall beside him only adding onto his beautiful face, making him appear oh so soft and lovable.
"Hey babe." his words barely above a whisper.
"Joong~" she sang, slowly getting on top of him, making herself comfortable until she was fully straddling him, his hands automatically finding their place on her back, holding onto her tight, her arms loosely hanging around his neck, "Did you miss me?"
"You bet your pretty ass, I did," he mumbled, eying the way she moved closer, her chest pressed against his, fingers playing with the hair at the base of his head.
"Aw~ baby" she pouted before gripping onto the ends of his hair and tugging hard, his head tilting back as a whimper escaped him, damn, his girl was in the mood- or so he thought.
"I didn't you f*cker." her grip tightened, tilting his head further back with another tug, his own fingers digging into her sides, trying to keep some form of control.
"Why~" whining with his eyes closed, he treasured the burning sensation, his princess knew how to play and he liked it so very much.
"Did you get Youngie to tap into my system? Do you want me to get fired? Or do you want me to shoot you in the d*ck?"
"Aw baby~ it's just work." his eyes finally snapped open, standing up without warning as a high-pitched squeak left her lips, arms instantly locking around his neck, much like her legs around his waist, staring up at him wide-eyed.
A chuckle echoed in the dark of the night as his hands finally gripped her close, "Don't worry doll, I'd never let ya fall." Walking them into the apartment he looked down at her frowning, "Did someone piss off my princess ?"
"Joong, " sighing she glanced away, letting him carry her around like she weighed nothing, like she was a mere muse he was addicted to, clinging onto him, onto his fur coat- wait God, he was wearing the orange one, she hated it.
"Yes, love?" slowly setting her down on the bed he shrugged off his jacket, going to the cupboard to hang it, his precious baby wasn't cheap!
"I can only protect you if you trust me, but if you hack into my system or pull shit like that and they fire me, who knows what- I- I just can't lose you" her words clogging up in her throat, the burning sensation all too evident behind her eyes, " what I mean is" sighing she paused to rephrase, his casual attitude just adding to the frustration as he walked towards her, swaying like a cat, stopping right in front of her sitting form, "Hongjoong, I'm serious, with me, it is just a game of cat and mouse but if I get replaced, if its someone else, it'll be serious and they might even-"
"Shhh..." placing a finger on her lips he hushed her, his hand caressing her cheek, admiring how she nuzzled into his palm, "You know love, " he whispered leaning closer till their noses touched, "I am a very dangerous man, I am more than just your lover."
"But-"
"I'll lay off your system," brushing his lips against hers, "Detective." Pulling back he smiled down at her, admiring how she looked up at him with teary eyes filled with nothing but love and worry, letting his intrusive thoughts win and squishing her cheeks with one hand, laughing at her whining in protest.
His other hand pulled out something from his back, showing her the shiny metal toy of his, "If it were someone else, other than you, that f*cker would already be dead, you're the only reason why I haven't torn this system down to shreds." with one last kiss to the forehead, her lovable idiot of a man once again promised to stay out of her way, at least for a while.
.
"This is team two, The ground floor is clear."
He did it again, he must've done it again, no way in hell did he not do it.
"Team three reporting from floor 1, all clear."
"Boss" Jongho mumbled beside her, turning off his comm, "Did you tell him?"
Sighing she adjusted her bulletproof west as the two walked into the basement, "Yes, I told that bastard, my system wasn't tapped, I double-checked." Of course, her junior knew about her little relationship, she did teach him that a mentor and mentee should have no secrets, even ones like these. It didn't take him long to accept it either, saying something along the lines of, "Is he really that bad if he's fighting against a system that has failed us?"
"Because Yunho just texted me saying your phone was tapped instead. "
"I hate him."
"Team two reporting, roof's all clear boss."
"This doesn't look good," he mumbled, trailing hot on her heels as the two entered the basement, a parking lot with two entrances. They were going to split up, "We can't go empty-handed, we need something at least."
"I know. Let's split up, and be on your guard."
With that the two parted ways, her footsteps echoing across the empty parking lot, the scraping of her boots muffling the jingle of her gun, one that was aimed and ready to shoot. A low chuckle caught her ear.
"STOP RIGHT THERE." She yelled, turning to aim at the fool, his smirk pissing her off even more, "Don't.Move."
"Hey doll." the deep voice from beside her alerting her senses, "You should go check up on your partner, baby bear's knocked out like Goldilocks." Seonghwa chuckled, making his way to stand next to Hongjoong who had his hands up for a show, the smug look never leaving his face.
"Aw, come on detective, just let us go and we can call it a night."
A loud bang, followed by a series of bangs, resonated across the entire parking lot.
"ALL UNITS TO THE BASEMENT, NOW!"
.
"You okay?" she asked, pressing the icepack against the bump on his head, "Told you to wear the helmet."
"Are YOU okay?" he asked, others around them looking at their head's bulletproof jacket, staring at the four shots right across it. Though that's not what he meant, he was definitely asking about something else.
"Yeah, great actually." Patting her head she turned around when someone called her name, eying the office who handed her a phone, "It's the sergeant, detective." rolling her eyes she pressed it against her ear, "Hello?"
"Detective. I heard about the encounter but didn't think you had it in ya to shoot him. Glad the bulletproof vest worked though, you're a good agent, we can't risk losing. I take it back, you have my trust and support. Get home safe."
.
Slamming the door shut she sighed in relief, kicking off her shoes she made her way into the living room, oh? The lights were on, what a pleasant surprise, wonder what happened?
"Hey honey how was work?" she smirked, leaning against the wall, arms crossed as she watched her shirtless boyfriend glare back at her, both ignoring the other man in the room who was tending to the gunshot wound.
Raising a brow, he scoffed, "Oh great love I got shot today by a bitch-"
"I'm still holding my gun Joong, don't test me"
Slamming his hand on his thigh he yelled "YOU SHOT ME- you SHOT ME IN THE SHOULDER!" hissing in pain as Seonghwa clicked his tongue, mumbling a stay still as he patched up the hole. This was all he could do before Yeosang could come over and have a proper look at it.
"YOU TAPPED MY PHONE"
"WELL YOUR SERGEANT WAS GETTING TOO COZY WITH YA- man's a perv, I know it" he spat back, shoving Seonghwa out of the way with his free hand, earning a curse in return.
"HONGJOONG, HE WAS DOUBTING MY LOYALTIES!" she explained and pointed at herself, "AND YOU SHOT ME TOO!"
A dramatic gasp echoed across the room followed by a hand placed on his chest - his heart, mind you-, causing Seonghwa to roll his eyes, here we go again, he should've never befriended these two in high school. Mumbling to himself about their idiocy he walked out to the balcony, deciding to smoke instead of listening to these idiots.
"First of all, YOU shot ME first and" he yelled and turned to point at the balcony, "That motherf*cker shot you, not me! I agree four times was a bit excessive but hey you were the one who kept going on and on about us being too soft on ya." Turning to her with raised brows, "And loyalties? Babe, come on, I mean, you and I- like we like- I've been in you multiple times, day or night and-"
"CAN YOU NOT!" she screamed, gesturing at the open door of the balcony.
'I don't care, pretend I'm not here, that's what I'm pretending too!' was all they could hear from the balcony, causing her face to resemble a tomato, though her shameless boyfriend was as nonchalant as ever, continuing his little speech, half naked in the living room.
"All I'm saying is, I don't question your loyalties because I know you've got the hots for me like I completely get it, I'd wanna sleep with me too, but your creep of a boss knows his soggy sausage aint worth your time and-"
"I should've aimed for your d*ck"
"Would you really though? Cause I know you loyal to my d-"
"And this conversation is over." with that she stomped away, speed walking when she heard the loud cackles of Seonghwa followed by the laughter of her own idiot of a man. No, boys, they were still the same shameless teenage boys, she accidentally had the unfortunate fate of meeting in school, when she was nothing but a victim of loneliness, turning her grey dull days into chaotic, colourful ones pulled out of the ass of the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland.

This look RAHHHHHH
Your relationship with your boss was an odd one. It was obvious to everyone in the precinct that you and the detective were more than just boss and secretary. But you would never admit that, and August D had a weird way of showing his fondness. It was the same way every workday—come in at 6:30, find the detective already at his desk, make him coffee, start the day. He would fuss and scold you for little things, make excuses to stay at your desk and talk to you.
You two kind of danced around each other, an unspoken possessive from the detective, and you playing coy until he finally fesses up that he likes you.
He storms out of his office while you’re scheduling his next meeting.
“Didn’t I tell you not to mix up these documents?” he says, holding up a manila file folder. He looks quite frustrated, cigarette hanging loosely from his mouth, suit jacket off and sleeves rolled past his forearms.
Yelling at you like this does virtually nothing in his favor—if anything it just makes you rub your thighs together. “I’m sorry sir,” you smooth out, batting your eyelashes up at him. “I thought your desk needed some tidying, and you were out in a case so..” He gives you a pointed look. “That doesn’t give you a reason to touch anything in my office. If I want you to tidy anything of mine, I’ll ask you to.” You nod, turning your attention back to the computer screen in front of you.
“Did you schedule my meeting with Captain Jung?” He asks, leaning over the front of your desk. You can feel him staring into your forehead, almost trying to make you squirm in your seat. “Of course sir, I just finished. Your meeting is for 4:30 today.” “Good.” He gives you one last long look over before pushing off your desk and walking back into his office.
You look up from your computer, staring at the deep mahogany that separates you and your boss. “Y’know, we have a running bet pool on which of you is gonna confess first.” Your coworker, Su-min slides over to your desk and props her hand under her chin. “What are you talking about? There’s nothing going on between me and him,” you sigh. “Sure. Tell it to the rest of us.” She chides back. “Don’t you have a case to be doing right now? That missing girl right? How long has it been?” “About a week or so. I really hope we can find her alive, but it’s starting to look grim.” She grimaces. “I hope you end up finding her either way—“
“Y/N! My office, now!”
Suddenly his door was cracked, and you could see him walking back to his desk, waiting for you.
You turn to Su-min and grimace. “Duty calls. Tell me about the case after I get done with this.” She grins at you. “Don’t start fooling around in there, keep it PG!” You roll your eyes, standing from your desk and walking into the detective’s office.
“You called for me detective?” You answer sweetly. “Sit. I have something to talk to you about.” You sit in one of the leather chairs in front of his desk, feeling his eyes on you the whole time. He gets up and rounds the front of his desk, leaning against it to look at you better. “We’ve known each other for quite sometime now,” he starts, arms folded and head down. He smirks. “You and I both know that I’ve been dancing around you these past years-“ “Is that what you call it sir?” He pauses. “Excuse me?” “Is that what you call it, this situation I mean. I was very aware of your feelings about me from the day we met sir. The whole precinct knows how you act around me.” “..I’ve been that bad at hiding it then?” “Pretty much.”
He sighs. “I know I haven’t been…vocal..about my feelings for you. I’d like to fix that. Do you want to go to lunch with me sometime?” You smile at his bluntness. He’s always been bad with words like this, saving his poetical vocabulary for high-stress situations with criminals. “What’s so funny?” He asks, brow raised, smile on his face. “You are. You’re so bad with words sir..” You giggle. He leans down, gripping either side of the arms on the chair. He’s so close to you now, noses almost touching. “I am, hm? And that’s funny?” You nod. He chuckles. “I’m looking forward to getting to know you.” “Lunch right? What time?” “Lunch time.” You grimace. “Well, I assumed that much. 12 or 1?” “12:30.” “12:30 it is. I’ll mark it on your personal calendar.”
He lifts himself from his position, rounding his desk again and sitting in his chair. He stares at you longingly. “I’d suggest you get back out there. Wouldn’t want to keep the office waiting on who won that bet.” You chuckle. “Yes sir.”

CCPD vs Saints and Sinners
I just had the amusing thought of Saints and Sinners - when it was just starting out in like the 80s - getting ratted to the CCPD as the 'go to place' for crooks and villains.
And they send their best detective on the case to see if it's true and the bar owner finds out he's coming like 5 mins before and has to throw off the scent super quick.
And the detective turns back up at the precinct later and the Captain is like, "Well? What did you find?"
Detective pulls a photograph out of his pocket like, "Just a false rumour, Boss, see here?"
shows the Captain a picture of the building with the S's covered over and blatantly replaced with a P and Th scribbled on cardboard
Tumblr media
Detective: "Turns out it's just a hardware store called Paints and Thinners."
And the Captain turns to the office window and addresses all the bad guys of Central City grittily under his breath like, "You can't hide from the Law forever."

| FRACTURED 1 |
Tumblr media
Summary: After a traumatic accident, you wake up with memories of a life, everyone around you denies you ever lived.
Pairing: Jungkook x female reader
Warnings: Angst, crime, mystery, kinda strangers to lovers.
A/N: This is clearly inspired by "Our Time" by @taestefully-in-luv Since I couldn't take it out of my head, I wrote this homage.
||||
FEVER DREAM
You were printing the remaining documents wishing for the machine to hurry up already, so you could drop them at court and finally go home.
"Still here?" asked Captain Min, peeking through the door of your small office.
"Yeah, I want to take this there today so they'll get the documents to check first thing tomorrow morning. I want her out of questioning and out of the city as fast as possible.
"Quite a complicated case though" he replied "I'm not sure they'll let you represent her as usual. Her statement could save tons of lives"
"I know, but I gotta try" reaching for the latest paper you started to organize them in a binder, already full of evidence "We are talking about girls and women Yoongi. I need them to give me the green light so I can work on getting the full statement to represent her in court. She doesn't need to go through this twice, that's why I work here, it's my job.
"I know, I'm just saying is unlikely"
In a somber mood, you checked your watch and realized you have wasted precious time talking.
"Gotta go If I want to make it on time. See you tomorrow captain" you said mischievously while squeezing through the door in a rush.
"See ya, victims advocate" replicated Yoongi laughing heartily.
Still laughing you left the precinct making sure to say goodbye to the new security guy and strutted across the streets trying to reach court in time.
||||
"Star... Star can you hear me?"
Blinking, you tried to remember where were you, but you couldn't. The last thing you recalled was walking to the local courthouse, but all was fuzzy before and after.
"Star, are you okay?"
Shaking your head you focused on the voice that was talking and groaned. Your head was pulsating and your throat was sore.
"Her pulse is fine," said another voice "And she is waking up now, I'll come back later to see how she continues but she should be okay now".
"Good, thanks doc. I'll take it from here".
Finally being able to focus you realized you were laying on a bed in what you supposed was a hospital room. But the place looked small and shabby.
"Where am I?"
"You scared us for a second Star," the man sitting in a chair right against her bed said, "When we took you out of the water we thought we had lost you".
Water? So you did have an accident... but you were nowhere near the water, your town isn't close to it.
"Do you remember, right?" the man looked around searching for someone, but they were alone in the room now.
"I-I... the last I remember is getting out of work and-"
"Yes, thank god, we were going out of work" The man looked relieved you were both on the same page "Since the accident, you have been having memory problems and I didn't know if you were going to wake up this time knowing us or not".
"Memory problems? I-I that can't be. I remember my life fairly well, how could I have lost it..."
"Star, you've been here for a few weeks, and every time you wake up you look more and more confused. The doctor said it was expected since, well lack of oxygen could lead to memory trouble".
"But I don't have amnesia!" you screamed stressed, your head was palpitating and you couldn't breathe well "I know who I am, and my fucking name is not Star!"
Apologetically, the man sighed and got up from the chair.
"This been going on for a while, I-I need to take a break," he said looking defeated.
Trying to calm your beating heart, you looked around and strained your ear to hear noises from outside, but it was silent.
You felt tempted to get up and look out the window but before you could do that, the door opened again and a different man entered the room.
"Star!" he exclaimed. His mop of hair bounced, as he hurriedly made his way to you, once he saw you were conscious "You’re awake!"
"Don't get your hopes up" said the first man appearing again and leaning in the door's lintel "She doesn't remember us".
"W-What?" the doe eyes of the second man looked impossibly big "Baby, you don't remember me?" He said with a pout while grabbing your hand.
"I-I what? Baby?" Retiring your hand from his grasp you put it over your heart. It was beating like crazy "I'm sorry, I don't know you".
"Oh. I see" replied the man, looking disappointed.
"Look I just wanna go home. Can I do that? Can I leave?"
"Sure. I'll take you home".
"Not yet," said the first man, now entering the room and sitting next to the bed again "What's the last thing you remember?"
"I already told you," you said, exasperated "I finished printing the paperwork at my work, I said goodbye to my boss, and was on my way to drop some documents at court. I don't remember anything else after that. Besides walking on the street, I mean."
"What should we do hyung?" asked the guy with the wavy hair. He looked defeated.
Sighing, the older man straightened his back and made eye contact with you.
"Ok. We'll have to believe something happened with your brain - as the doctor said - because what you just told us makes no sense".
"What do you mean?" You whispered, afraid of the answer he might give you.
"First of all, my name is Kim Namjoon and I'm the spokesperson of the village we are in".
"More like a leader, hyung"
"Whatever you want to call it, I'm the voice and face inside and outside of here".
"Ok".
"We know you by the name of Star and you've lived in this place for as long as I can remember..."
"That, that can't be... how?" Confused you looked around the room again. You were sure of who you were, but this made no sense "My name isn't Star is y/n, and I work at the 4th precinct downtown".
"Downtown? Where?" Kim Namjoon asked, looking exasperated "We live on an island. The only way out of here is by boat or by car. By boat is closer, hence why we always use it. Driving takes at least 12 hours to get us out the forest and out of the island".
Astonished, you remained silent.
"You've lived here since your parents died and my father heard of their passing. I'm not sure how they knew each other, but he brought you here and raised you as his own. I remember being childish while he tried to explain it to me, saying the only other option was an orphanage..."
"My parents aren't dead! They live across the country!" You yelled furiously. You knew this story wasn't real, it couldn't be. You remembered everything. "I don't know who you think you are, but I'm going home. I can't listen to any more nonsense".
Sighing, both men looked at each other.
"Fine. First thing tomorrow morning, I'll take you wherever you want to go. But hear me out Star" you could only roll your eyes at the constant use of a name it wasn't yours "I am not leaving you there. It could be dangerous, you'll realize you are confused and have nowhere to go. And when you see that and you'll see it, you'll have to come back with me. I won't put you in unnecessary danger".
"Don't worry Kim Namjoon, everything will be fine" she said defiantly "I'll be sleeping in my bed tomorrow night".
"Sure thing. Wanna sleep here tonight or in your house?"
"I have a house?"
"Yes Star, you have a house" he deadpanned.

One push too many
This was prompted by a lovely anon! I enjoyed writing this although it is quite heavy. Take caution but keep in mind all my stories end happy!
Fandom: Detroit become human | Ship: Reed900 (Warning: Misunderstanding, mental abuse, alcohol abuse, desription of suicide attempt (will be prevented)) [alternate ending]
Gavin. Hated. Everything. That was nothing new, it was a well-known fact for everyone that knew him. Only that usually Gavin hated everything equally and made a few exceptions with his cat or one day of the week or maybe even one person in his nearest circle. Lately that changed. There were some things he hated more than others, that he utmost despised. One of them being his newest partner, an android. RK900. Nines. And he took everything he had liked in his life away from him.
Gavin had liked his work. But how should he enjoy his job if he had to do it next to a phcking tin-can that watched and commented his every move, scanned him every few seconds and knew things about him no one else had ever found out. ‘Oh, seems the murderer was the victim’s brother, killing him for his riches. Curious that you never had that idea with Elijah.’ ‘Come on, Detective, don’t pout like that. With a family like yours I thought you were used to having the lowest IQ in the room.’ ‘I think I know how your brother must have felt. Pulling you along all the time. Come on, get your head in the game.’ ‘Sometimes I ask myself how you made it detective in the first place.’ ‘Wow, someone seems to be a particular asshole today.’ ‘What did I do to get you as my partner…’
Gavin had long given up on retorting something clever. The android would just twist it around again and add something even worse. And Gavin really didn’t need to. In the first time since he left school, he bowed his head and let the tin-can push him down. He tried to ignore it, but the words hit him time and time again, wounding him in a spot that never really healed. Yes, his brother was a genius. Yes, he was an idiot compared to that. Yes, his family had treated him differently to his brother. Well, Gavin had made a living despite all that, hadn’t he? He had come out a nearly decent human being that did good or at least convinced himself he changed a few lives and maybe for the better. Hearing what the android told him with a tone that Gavin had suspected to be friendly teasing at the beginning, just made him feel like he was back in that house. Back with the people who loved him but loved his brother more. He didn’t need that. He didn’t want that.
Sometimes he still lashed out. Sometimes, when he couldn’t bear it any longer, he started screaming. Or he pushed his partner against a wall, threatening him. Or he let his fist connect with something sensitive. But it didn’t help; it didn’t change anything. No, it made things worse. When he did it inside the precinct there would be all eyes on him, how he once again abused the innocent new guy. An android. And when Gavin did it outside, Nines would just report him to Fowler or tell what happened to any concerned face. And that had mostly been Tina, Chris and Connor. New never took long to spread from them. Gavin would be the anti-android asshole again, people would talk behind his back how he never even tried to change, how he shouted at the poor RK900. He had always been an aggressive man, they would say. And hadn’t he threatened Connor once with a gun? How long would it take until the next incident? And who would stop him when he tried to kill Nines?
Gavin would never do that. He hated the guy to the bone, wished he could actually punch him until the metal heap was unrecognisable. But he would never kill a man that had never lifted a hand against him, despite what words Nines threw at him.
Over time, his co-workers distanced themselves even more from Gavin. Not that he cared, he had never been close with them anyways. But Tina and Chris seemed to have switched sides. And that hurt deep down. Seeing his friends ignore him or excuse themselves whenever he was near and later meeting them in the breakroom chatting with the android that had been his downfall from the very beginning.
‘Has he screamed at you again?’ Gavin froze in his steps. He had been about to enter the breakroom to get a coffee before checking on evidence. But now he stopped as he heard Tina’s voice from the inside. ‘Yes.’ Nines. That asshole actually dared to sound desperate. ‘Don’t worry. That’s just Gavin.’ Chris chuckled. ‘He shouts and punches and threatens, but he won’t ever do anything to you. And if he does, then we’ll have your back.’ ‘He got quieter, but there are still times when he explodes at me.’ Tina sighed. ‘Then you’ll just have to hold out a little longer. Just do what you do now, and he’ll eat out of your hand in no time.’ Gavin pressed against the wall and risked a peak into the break room, not believing what he had just heard. How could Tina ever betray him like that? How could she tell Nines to continue hitting him where it hurt most? She had been his friend! Did she finally have enough of him too and just wished for Nines to subdue him? He would never-
He stomped away angrily, briefly crossing eyes with Nines. Tina had her hand on his and both her and Chris had been focussed on the android. Nines had been the only one that saw him. But without doubt he would use that information to his advantage, manipulating his former friends further and pitting them against him.
Gavin swallowed. The problem was that Nines would and could subdue him if he continued like that. In fact, he already was. He hadn’t spoken up to him since forever, only showing his teeth when he couldn’t endure it any longer. Nines had robbed him of everything good in his life and Gavin knew he had to get out of this immediately. But how could he get away from the android quick and effectively? Gavin had sat down on his desk, chewing on a pen, as his gaze shifted towards Fowler’s office. It was his only option, Gavin knew it, and still he tried to find another way for the rest of his shift. Even as it ended, Gavin continued to sit there, waiting. At some point Nines had sat down opposite of him and by now, the android was watching him closely. Gavin knew what he had to do, and waiting didn’t help. So, he finally switched off his computer and walked off to the Captain’s office.
‘Gavin, what are you doing here so late?’, Fowler asked. ‘Don’t you have a cat waiting for you at home?’ The man smiled at him warmly and it hurt Gavin to mimic it. So, he just looked down, unclipped his badge from his belt and then got lost of the utility belt completely, putting both down on Fowler’s desk. ‘What’s that supposed to be?’, Fowler asked, frowning at the Detective. ‘I quit.’ ‘Reed? Everything alright? I thought you liked it here. You are one of my best men!’ Gavin kept silent. ‘Gavin. Son, any reason why you want to quit? Anything I should know of? You know, what you tell me stays with me.’ He shook his head. ‘No reason.’ ‘Oh, stop bullshitting me!’ ‘Captain Fowler, I would like to resign my post. I want to quit. Last time I checked I was allowed to do that.’ ‘Jesus Christ, yes! Yes, you are allowed. Just…’ He stood up. ‘I won’t sign the papers today. If you want to come back, I’ll give you till the weekend. Gavin. Please take care of yourself.’
Gavin, in fact, did not take care of himself. He had hastily taken his belongings from his desk and put them into a box, before marching out of the precinct and racing home. He hated how Nines had stood up half-way, thinking about stopping him. No. Not this time. The asshole would not have his grasp on him now. Not anymore.
As he got home, he pushed the box in a corner and kicked off his shoes, walking straight to the fridge and taking out the hard liquor. His cat greeted him by rubbing against his legs while he poured himself a glass. Gavin looked down on the orange tabby, then on the glass, downed it and decided that he wouldn’t need a glass today. He put the entire bottle on the table and pulled out a can of wet cat food, too. Only then he sat down and took another gulp from the bottle. It burned and he coughed as tears came to his eyes from too much booze in too little time. ‘Phck this asshole!’, he shouted through the house, startling the cat. Gavin held onto the neck of the bottle as if it could anchor himself on the table. ‘This damn android waltzes in, makes me his servant, calls me names and offends me, steals my friends and now made me quit my job! Now I have no job, no idea what to do, an ass full of debt and no clue how to get out of this. I…’ He got quiet, drinking more. He cried, wiped away his tears and cried again. He drank more.
As the bottle was half emptied, he had the brilliant idea to call his brother. They may not have separated on good terms, but Eli was still his brother, wasn’t he? And getting to learn Gavin was just the phck up everyone had suspected him to be, had to be something, right? Maybe he could help. He called him and anxiously counted the rings. It didn’t take him much, before the call was declined. Gavin tried again. And again. But his brother constantly clicked him away. Gavin nursed the bottle a bit more. He was truly alone. He had lost everything that he had worked for, everything he had aspired to be. And it wouldn’t get any better.
The bottle was completely empty, as he had made a decision. He went to his bedroom and retrieved some paper together with the gun he had stored away in the nightstand. He came back to the table, laid the gun on it and clicked the pen to begin writing. What should he write? What was important?
Please don’t give my cat to a shelter. He was surprised that was the only thing he was concerned about: His asshole cat that wasn’t even really his. She had just one day turned up in his garden and convinced Gavin to feed her. He thought really, really hard. He should have something besides his cat that needed settling before he could go. But nothing came to his mind as he stared at the blank page, far too big for just one sentence. Once again, he had been too ambitious. Don’t give her to Nines! He added then with a sigh and underlined the “Don’t” with far too much force for his pen that splattered a few ink-drops next to the angry line. He set the paper and pen aside and eyed the gun before taking it in his hand. It was heavy and cold, seeming to weigh so much more than it should.
Suddenly, the doorbell ripped him from his thoughts. ‘Go away!’, he shouted and hated how weak it sounded. ‘Now’s really not the time!’ Gavin watched the door, but it kept silent. He nodded to himself and concentrated back at the task at hand. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before lifting- There was a crashing sound as if a window was smashed. Then, in a flurry of motion, something heavy hit him and made him topple over in his chair. The impact with the ground made him loose hold on the gun and only then did he look up. With a groan he closed his eyes again and was surprised he didn’t throw up.
‘You really are a nuisance, aren’t you?’, he groaned, his head pounding. ‘Says the man who tried to kill himself. Oh, how he hated that voice. ‘Yeah and whose fault is that?’, Gavin spat. ‘Just go away and let me get on with it, asshole!’ ‘I won’t. You are right, this is my fault, so I have the responsibility of setting things right!’
Gavin opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling past Nines, letting the light bulb from the kitchen lamp burn in his eyes. Nines slapped his cheek, causing Gavin to refocus. ‘We will sit down at that table and you will listen to me, okay?’ ‘Fine’, Gavin grumbled, annoyed and tired. The android pulled him up and the sudden movement made Gavin’s stomach turn. The world stopped tilting as he finally sat on his chair, the android sitting down next to him. ‘I don’t have a social module.’ Gavin looked at him through half-lidded eyes. ‘I don’t give a phck.’ ‘I don’t know how to communicate the right way. When I was partnered up with you, Connor told me you liked friendly bickering. So I tried to do the same.’ ‘Uh-huh…’ Gavin was clawing at the table trying not to sag from his chair. ‘When you got more and more quiet, I thought I was on the right path and went on with it. It was never my intention to hurt.’ Gavin laughed loudly. ‘Yeah, don’t phck with me that way. Even a microwave would have realised it did things wrong.’ ‘Then it seems I’m dumber than a household device.’ ‘The first true sentence from you today.’ Nines sighed. ‘Listen Gavin, I… You never told me to stop. It wasn’t your job to do so and I guess I should have told you my… shortfalls. But as you quit your job today, I realised something was deeply wrong. Connor told me the world could end and you would still come to work. I… I’m glad I followed you. And I’m sorry I never noticed how much I made you suffer. Can you forgive me?’
Gavin stared at the android, swaying lightly form side to side. ‘No.’ Nines nodded, looking down on his hands. ‘I… understand. Just please don’t kill yourself. I will do anything you wish for once you promised me that.’ ‘No, you don’t understand’, Gavin slurred, slapping his hand on the paper and crumbling it in his hand. ‘I can’t forgive you for it. But you can make it up to me. You will let me go back to the police. You will explain everything to Tina and Chris. I want their apology for ghosting me because you told them lies. And most importantly: You will never say the name Elijah Kamski again. You won’t ever refer to my family. You won’t ever treat me as something beneath you again.’ He looked at the android sharply, who nodded eagerly but with enough guilt in his face to look serious. Gavin leaned back.
‘And for phck’s sake, you will learn what “friendly bickering” means!’

Aera, not looking up from her book: Really? Rama, why didn’t you tell me? I would have put my book down.

Normally, Friday evenings would be spent at home, under several warm blankets and dim lights, your only company being a tub of Cookies and Cream ice cream, enough sweets to make your teeth ache and Chris Evans (he may be in your TV screen, but, for now, that presence is more than enough). But, clearly, Captain Woojin Kim has it out for you since he’s kept your squad and several others back to fish through a ship load of paperwork. You’re certain he’s adding more manila folders to your toppling pile each time you blink, your hands ache as you swap between signing papers and typing up incident reports.
Glancing at the clock on the wall, you notice it’s only been half an hour of filing, the clock’s hands ticking just past 5 o’clock. You reach for the mug of coffee that your Captain had so graciously gifted you before dropping the paperwork bombshell. Groaning at the realisation that your mug is now empty, you drop your head on the table. This wasn’t supposed to be a normal Friday evening; sure, filling in reports were different plans to your usual Netflix and chill, but on this particularly fine Friday, you actually had plans. Real plans. You hadn’t been extremely thrilled earlier this week for the blind date your friend had set up for you today, but now? Anything would be better than listening to Jisung repeat every single thing he was writing and typing and thinking. No amount of coffee could ever give you enough energy to deal with him.
You let out another groan, stretching your arms above your head, before grabbing your coffee mug to get a refill. Suddenly, you become a coffee boy as Jisung, Seungmin, Hyunjin, Felix and Minho -- who wasn’t even part of your team -- thrust out their arms, each of them holding an empty mug begging to be filled once more. Rolling your eyes, you walked straight past all of them to focus on your own mug. You laughed when they muttered curses, most choosing to continue with their reports. You set up the coffee machine, listening to its dull droning tone until the door swings open behind you.
“Thank you so much for the refill, y/n,” Hyunjin drawled, sarcasm slipping easily between his words, as he stood beside you.
“Anytime, Hyunjin.” You were not in the mood for Hyunjin’s quips -- especially not because he looked perfectly energetic when you could barely keep your eyes open. You huffed when the machine stopped working, letting out a long groan. “Stupid machine!”
“Step aside, let the master work his magic,” Hyunjin boasted, bumping you aside with his hip as he stretched his arms out in front of him, lacing his fingers together to crack them. He whacked the side of the machine harshly, grinning when it sputtered back to life, “That’s magic, baby!” He turned to you with a smirk, raising his eyebrows.
“Wow, that was so impressive.” You deadpanned, nudging him back in a similar manner. You placed your mug under the dispenser, pressing the button to fill it up.
“Worked like a charm,” his smirk never left and he turned to face you, leaning against the counter.
“Oh, definitely, I’m swooning,” you rolled your eyes -- a common gesture whenever you spoke to Hyunjin -- before grabbing your mug and stepping away.
“I knew you’d fall for me eventually.” He stayed unmoving, brown eyes practically teasing a reaction out of you.
And that was exactly why you could never have a proper conversation with the man. You’ve had your fair share of cocky men -- interrogating overconfident pimps was never your favourite task -- but at least you got paid to deal with those rich guys. There wasn’t enough money in the world to incite you into a willing conversation with Hyunjin. To the others, he was an absolute angel, going out of his way to help them, always cracking jokes to lighten the mood; to you, he was the devil’s incarnate: constantly looking for new ways to annoy you, taunting you at every possible instance -- the only time he’d gone out of his way for you was when he nitpicked through 5 of your cases, correcting any spelling mistakes and gaps. Long story short, Hwang Hyunjin was annoying. Great at his job -- there was no doubt about that -- but infuriating nonetheless.
“Anyway,” you sighed out, “goodbye, Hyunjin!”
Just as your free hand grabbed hold of the door knob, he yelled, “Wait!” Another sigh left you as you dropped the handle to turn around, raising a brow at him. A smirk briefly fluttered across his face, not quick enough for you to miss and it left you mentally questioning why you were still listening to him. “I heard you had a date tonight.” He watched you carefully, eyes meticulously observing every slight movement you made; you bit your tongue, not wanting to play into his games. When you gave no visible response, he continued, “Is it true?” He tilted his head innocently, but he was far from it, and you knew that.
You were sure he knew the answer to his own question, so why bother asking? To annoy you, of course.
“You’re a detective, work it out.”
-
Shutting your last folder, you heaved out a long sigh, rubbing the fatigue from your eyes. You were finally done. If you left now, you’d make it back to your apartment with enough time to shower before you needed to get ready and leave.
You grabbed the set of files you had just completed, pushing yourself away from your desk to put them away in the correct places. When you get back to your desk, Captain Woojin is there and you’re already dreading what he has to say.
“You’ve finished, right, y/n?”
Great. He probably had a ton of files in his office that needed completing, if the load in his hand was reflective of anything. He was probably watching and waiting -- like some sort of apex predator, a ravenous shark -- for someone to finish so he could dish out even more files, because who makes plans on a Friday evening? It wouldn’t hurt to lie to him, would it? No harm would be done, right?
“Yeah, I’m done.” You couldn’t lie. It would just hurt your conscience. Maybe this was a sign from the universe to not go on that blind date.
"Great, I can take those files for you, could you just drop this package off at the front desk?"
"Yeah, no problem." Could it be? Freedom? "Is that all?"
"Yes, thank you. Wouldn't want to keep your date waiting, right?"
The smile that had just started forming on your face was instantly wiped away when you saw the small grin on his face. He stacked the remaining files in his hand on Hyunjin's desk before leaving. You barely registered the snickers that left Hyunjin and Seungmin as you said your goodbyes and finally took leave.
Why did you ever think telling Felix about it was a good idea? Damn Detectives and their love for gossip.
-
It was a rush job but you made it on time. Getting home was fairly quick since you missed the rush hour traffic, and you're pretty sure that was the quickest you've ever showered and gotten ready in - if your date didn't appreciate all this effort, you were going to flip.
The place was fairly fancy -- low lighting, regal colours, the whole shebang -- and when the waiter led you to the reserved table, you couldn't help but look around at other diners' plates. Seriously, where was the rest of the meal? What was the point in having great tasting food if it barely filled you up? The pizza place a couple of blocks down seemed much more appealing right now, but you had to at least try to have fun today.
15 minutes. It had only been fifteen minutes but your eyes were drooping and your date still wasn't here. Once another ten went by, you picked up your phone and messaged the oh-so-amazing friend of yours that had set up this date in the first place.
You: chan???
You: hes not here and im tired, can i go home now??
Chan: He's not? :(
Chan: One sec, I'm messaging him
As you waited, you decided rubbing your freedom in Felix's face was a great pastime.
You: you still alive??
You: actually no, is jisung still alive or have you finally killed him?
Felix: killing him would just be more paperwork that my ass can't handle. I'm seeing folders every time i blink, put me out of my misery
You: you're still there??
Felix: lmao no, the Mins and i escaped, and Cap kicked Sung out when he started singing I Want It That Way
Felix: so your boy Hyunjinnie is the only one there ;^) must be a shit date if you're here texting me, but you could go in and keep him company if you know what i mean ;))))
You: i have no idea what you mean
After seeing the series of hearts and kiss emojis he sent you after, you came to the conclusion ignoring Felix was a much better pastime.
Chan: Shit
Chan: Asshole's not replying to me
Chan: I'm sorry y/n :/
Chan: Wtf he left me on read wtf
Chan: I'm pretty sure he's already given his card details to that place, rinse his money
After confirming with your waiter, who probably realised that you had been stood up, you decided to make good on what Chan said and buy some food. If the guy wasn't going to show up, you weren't just going to let an open tab go to waste.
You ordered two of the most expensive meals off the menu and a slice of cheesecake to lift up your mood.
-
Why did the precinct have to be there on your way back? As soon as you passed it, you remembered what Felix said about Hyunjin still being there. You wondered why he was staying back when the others had gotten out earlier, and you blame that reasoning alone for why you turned your car around and headed into the building.
He really was there. Legs on his desk, keyboard on his lap, typing with one hand and drinking coffee with the other, Hyunjin was a sight to behold. His shirt was crumpled, sleeves creased from being rolled up, and his hair was wild, sticking up at gravity-defying angles. You watched as his eyes skimmed over the text on his computer, unblinking even as he took another sip from the mug.
"Wow, you look like shit." You grinned, dropping the takeaway bags on your desk. You laughed when your presence startled him into jumping, coffee splashing down his forearm, chair rolling away from his desk, keyboard hanging dangerously over the edge.
"Y-You're back?"
"Clearly," amusement never left your eyes as you watched him fix his dishevelled state. You tossed the box of tissues on your desk to him and he smiled in thanks. Once he had finally wiped away the mess, picked up his keyboard and tamed his hair, he leaned back in his chair and swivelled to face you.
"Bad date?" The smirk on his face did nothing to make you forget the vision you just saw, and you would not let him have the upper hand.
"I just saw you singing Thank you, Next, don't try to mock me."
"I'll buy you coffee for a month if you don't tell the others?"
"Two months."
He huffed, but agreed anyway.
"And you have to get it from Carla's place."
"But that's so far away," he whined, pouting and all.
"I got the whole thing on video, so…"
"I'd be honoured to go!"
After a couple of minutes of (strangely comfortable) silence, you spoke up. "Have you even eaten yet?"
"Must've been a real bad date if you got takeaway," he snorted, rolling his chair to your desk before leaning an elbow on it, "What've you got?"
You pulled out the three containers, pushing one over to Hyunjin. "Ooh, Valentino's, how fancy." He rolled back to his desk, rummaging through a drawer to pull out the cutlery he had stashed there. You did the same as he shimmied back -- you had learned, rather quickly in your first week here, that it was best to keep your dishes safe in your desks if you wanted them to stay clean.
The food was still fairly warm as you ate, but, like all fancy restaurants, there was barely any food there to eat. Even after you split the cheesecake, you could feel your stomach on the edge of rumbling, and taking one look at Hyunjin told you he felt the same.
"You up for Chinese?" He grinned, licking away the remnants of cream from his fork, "I'll even pay."
"You done with your reports?" You glanced at his abandoned computer as he groaned.
"I hate Cap."
You laughed as he dragged a hand down his face, letting out a tired sigh. "He gave you more?"
"Well, yeah, sorta, I kinda asked for them."
"You deserve this then." You chuckled, curiously continuing, "Why'd you do that?"
At that, he chanced a glance at you before looking down at the fork he was twiddling between his fingers. "He was gonna give 'em to you, but I told him you had a date."
You narrowed your eyes at him, "Now why would you do that?"
He shrugged, as though he hadn't just lightened your load despite your rivalry, "You had plans, I didn't. Plus, you could use the break," then, in true annoying Hyunjin fashion, he smirked, "you look like shit."
You didn't dignify that with a verbal response, choosing to kick -- not so lightly -- him in the shin. You grinned at his yelped curse. He leaned down to rub his leg, pouting, "I was kidding- fuck, that hurts, you look…" he took the chance to scrutinise your appearance, eyes dancing with mirth as you shifted under his gaze. "You look okay."
"Okay?"
"Fine." He huffed, "you look fine. Alright. Decent. Nice."
He had rolled back to his desk before you could recognise his rising blush or form a reply. Was that supposed to be a compliment? He was so focussed on his screen now that you decided it must have been a compliment if he was shying away from you now. You smiled at that -- seriously, y/n? falling for the enemy? -- before you grabbed the used cutlery, going to the break room to wash them.
-
Once you finished washing up in the tiny sink, you headed over to Hyunjin. You hid your smirk when he tensed up ever so slightly as you dropped his cutlery on his desk; he took extra care in keeping his eyes on his screen, but you still noticed the slight hitch in the way he tapped at his keyboard, giving away his nerves to your trained eye.
Was he seriously still nervous about having given you a compliment? Did he regret it?
You said nothing, however, choosing to head back to your own desk before leaving the precinct. Without so much as a goodbye, Hyunjin watched -- eyes downcast, yet you'd never know -- as you walked away.
-
Hyunjin was a detective. A damn good detective, and he got your signal loud and clear.
Taking your reports from Woojin was a leap of faith, of sorts; he never intended on telling you that he took them -- or worse, why he really did -- but he thought that lightening your load on a Friday evening was a nice gesture and possibly a step in the right direction.
He thought, for once, the universe was working out in his favour, because even though he had piled on more work for himself than necessary, the stars aligned and you were brought back to him. God, his internal monologue was dramatic.
It was a crush. For the past three weeks and four days, Hyunjin had developed a somewhat crush on you. The teasing continued, of course, but the longing gazes he gave you -- which, thankfully, you never seemed to notice -- made him awfully aware of how much he liked spending time with you, even if you were spitting fire and mocking him.
But now, your rejection was blatantly obvious. Like a siren wailing right in front of him, he got the message. You completely ignored his compliment -- a sad attempt, really, but it was something -- and Hyunjin knew you knew what he was really hinting at (y/n, you look more than just okay, you look--) but words, it seemed, just weren't his forte, and he swivelled his chair away before he had to face the disgust that probably painted your face. And you said nothing. The silence that followed was deafening because he realised his shitty compliment -- yes, he'd finally come to terms that it was pathetic -- had made you feel so awkward, so uncomfortable, that you couldn't even speak to him; instead, he had to listen to water splashing, cutlery tinkling and you walking away.
--stunning.
-
He wasn't asleep. He had half a mind to just shove whoever kept poking him and not letting him wallow in his arms. He was allowed to be sad: the person he kind of, maybe, possibly, had feelings for had just up and left him alone in an empty squad room, he could pout for a few moments longer. The incessant nudges didn't poke through Hyunjin's bubble and it made him wonder, one, who the hell was still touching him? and two, what was the goddamn time, because he was sure the pokes had lasted forever and a day, and he still had two more reports to go over.
On a newly-thought-of third note, it made him finally aware of the scent of spices weaseling into his pity party.
His head snapped up, jaw dropping only slightly when he saw it was you.
Really and truly, you.
Holding Chinese from that one store just down the road.
Fucking finally, you muttered, but he was still shocked that you were here, on your own chair, but right beside him, with more containers actually filled to the brim with his favourite food from his favourite place.
But more importantly, you were right beside him.
"Dig in," you murmured, waiting for him to start eating first.
You were momentarily blinded by the grin he gave you, before he began eating and you followed.
After you finished eating -- hunger thoroughly sated -- you decided that maybe spending some more time with Hyunjin wouldn't be so bad.
No, you were only going to stay because technically these were your reports and you didn't want to owe him any favours he could use against you. It wasn't because two weeks and five days ago you had developed a small, barely there, practically non-existent, crush on the man beside you.
It certainly wasn't because you were totally aware now of the way he was smiling at you as you proofread the final report.
And it most definitely wasn't because his lips had your own turning up into a smile.
"You're staring." You said, eyes skimming through line after line of police work.
"I know."
"Why?"
"Because…" he trailed off, scooting the slightest bit closer as his arm snaked around the back of your chair so he could roll you even closer too, "you look--"

Summary- Captain Shi finds out about Shao Fei and Tang Yi's relationship. Chaos ensues. It is a miracle that the Captain hasn't had a heart attack because of his Unit yet, but his team is working very hard to ensure he has one.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shao Fei was being chased. He was dodging several made-on-the-spot weapons and only his years of experience was saving him from being hit. Or so he thought.
'Oww!' he exclaimed while rubbing his arm which was hit by a box file. He had forgotten that he was being pursued by someone with a lot more experience than him. Namely, his Captain.
"Shao Fei, you are dead today!"
"Stop right there, I am going to murder you! "
"Why would I stop after you just told me that!! Ouch!"
And he was hit with the fan that Zhao Zi was fanning the Captain with. Seeing this, Yu Qi wisely kept away the cup of tea she had brought for the Captain. She made eye contact with Jun Wei who was useless trying to chase the captain and fan the inscene smoke at him. This was going to be a long day.
All of this started 5 mins ago when Shao Fei very casually mentioned to the Captain that 'oh yeah I am dating Tang Yi now'. The entire precinct had gone quite and waited with bated breaths for the Captain's reaction. The Captain had calmly turned towards Shao Fei and just as calmly reached for his gun. Thank God for Jun Weu who saw that and held the Captain back. It was chaos from there. The captain had been chasing Shao Fei around the office for the last 5 minutes and throwing anything at him that he could get his hands on!

deleted scene from my toes are hanging off the ledge
this was the original scene i was going to end with. it felt right but then i Remembered yknow. so im gonna put it here bc i know im not gonna put it anywhere else in the fic anymore
______________________
The front door to the apartment slid loudly open. “Stay outta trouble, big guy!” Benten shouted down the hall.
Juno looked up from the forms and documents Rita printed out, laying it down on the counter like all the other papers.
“Sounds like you had fun,” Juno commented casually.
Benten’s smile slid a bit off his face, before staying there, however strained, intentionally. “Hey, how was the case?”
“Depends, how went yours?”
Benten sighed, going around for the counter to get himself a glass of water. “Rita told you, then?”
“Not really. Figured Alessandra called twice then didn’t call back again and somehow didn’t die meant someone came in to help her.” Alessandra was known as Cockroach Strong now, but mostly because people didn’t know she knew to ask for help when she was outnumbered. Being a vet meant she had a lot of contacts with muscles as big as hers on any normal day.
“We were at the Fortezza.”
Juno jolted a bit in his surprise, “The crazy genius hostel Fortezza? Are you stupid?!”
Benten looked at him, unimpressed, “I was there already.”
“Is that supposed to make me feel any better?”
He took a sip of his water, looking over Juno’s shoulder at the papers. “Mick was showing me around. Did you know he managed to get and keep a job in security there?”
“Mick works at the Fortezza?!”
Benten put a hand on his shoulder. “Watch it, your blood pressure.”
Juno took a deep breath and clenched his fist. “Benzaiten Steel, I swear…”
“He’s not in any danger, I’m pretty sure he’s on contract anyway. A year of rotations is alright, if he doesn’t get fired before. I visited because he asked and said he wanted coffee.” Benten retreated back to the sink to get more water. “Speaking of which, remind me to message him for that thermos I lent him.”
“You’re not getting them back.”
Benten sighed wistfully with his glass of water, the dramatic shithead. “No, I expected as much. Ramses hired Alessandra, by the way, did you know? The Proctor swore to kill him by that afternoon but was dumb enough to write up her own confession and let Alessandra have it before we were subjected to one of her dumb tests.”
“You didn’t…”
“She broke the elevator but we found our own ways up and down the building. You should’a heard Mick.” He snorted, his eyes far away as he recalled the memory. “How about you? How was Pereyra?”
And there it was. Juno was waiting to ask him about it. “Mind telling me why you gave Khan my evidence?”
“Hasn’t been yours for ten years, Super-Steel.”
“Alright, smartass,” Juno snapped. “But would it have killed you to ask me about it first? I’d rather not the new captain of the precinct look through the dirty laundry that cost me a spouse.”
Benten looked a quip away from insulting Juno. His arms were crossed across his chest, leaning against the sink.
It’s been a while since they’ve gotten into a good fight. This wasn’t even the cusp of it. If Benten didn’t tell him to knock it off, it was only going to get worse.
“So, what you’re really telling me here is: you didn’t want Khan to know about the 151’s rumor of the decade, that he found out about the moment he was assigned to be the captain. How is that my fault? You told me to do whatever I had to, to get those artifacts out of evidence and I did, didn’t I?”
Juno knew.
It was Benten’s MO.
But he didn’t like it either.
He looked down at the pictures that Rita got from a public access feed off the runway to the Kanagawa mansion. Evidence. More evidence. Nearly two decades of this goddamn fixer-upper case for a city that was never going to fix itself.
“Sure, Ben. Whatever.”
Benten sighed, settling down on the chair next to him. “How was your case?”
“They’re being held somewhere remote at the moment,” Juno mumbled, not looking up. “Khan doesn’t think it’s a good idea to arrest Pereyra yet, not after the commotion at the Fortezza. Negligence isn’t a good look, and adding the fact that they were aiding and abetting a crook and felt sorry for it after doing so for so long? It won’t help any. I offered to do some stuff for Min though, so.”
“Right.”
Silence suspended in the air like powder in syrup, the groan of the radiator in the background and the sounds of the street at night loud inside it.
Juno grabbed a few sticky notes and scribbled a few details, stuck a few on some margins. Benten grabbed a few transaction prints and grabbed another pen from Juno’s mess, circling a few shell companies here and there, no doubt.
Be-be-beep!
Juno jumped, then grabbed his comms without a second thought. He didn’t even look to see Benten’s reaction as he absconded to his room, made sure to check if the lock was red before answering.
Peter looked disheveled, in that his hair wasn’t styled and his glasses were a bit askew which meant that he was lying down with his comms on sideways and he still had his glasses on despite the fact that it was probably digging into his face uncomfortably.
Juno didn’t know a man could handsome could exist in such a state of metaphorical undress. Peter looked sleepy, about to nod off to the deep sleep Juno knew he fell into.
He felt the tension ease out of him.
“Hey, honey,” Peter teased, a small smile on his face. “How was work?”
Juno shrugged, falling down on his bed so fast, it squeaked ominously under him. “Y’know how it is. Dangerous, fast, and in need of an amount of stealth that will be given away by someone on your private line calling you.”
Peter seemed delighted at the prospect of costing Juno the much needed element of surprise. “Really? And how was that?”
“Stressful,” Juno admitted, sighing. “Quick. Took ‘em all out. Though I have to go buy new laser carts tomorrow. How ‘bout you?”
Peter nearly purred, “Such a big strong lady. What did all those crooks ever do to you, hm?”
“Uh huh. Moral outrage’s only a cute look on one of us, honey. Answer the question.”
“Just calling it as it is.” Peter was nearly preening at the mock vitriol in Juno’s voice, though Juno wanted to pretend it was because of the sudden name-calling.
“Peter.”
Peter laughed, breathy and soft. Juno felt it all the way across the galaxy and ached something fierce.
“Oh, if you insist.”
Juno settled into his sheets, kicking off his slippers, putting his comms down on the other end on his pillow so he could pretend that Peter was there.
And, well, the Steels do love a story.

“Jeon, come see me in my office. Now.” A voice sounds through the phone on his desk. Jungkook stares at his phone in shocked silence after the voice cuts out. The young officer’s thoughts go haywire as he tries to think of anything that he could have done to deserve such a harsh tone from his captain. He hadn’t had anything go wrong with any of the traffic stops he’d done in the last three months, had no people call him to court for wrongful tickets, had no write-ups, had been following the rule book to the T, and he struggles to come up with a reason why his captain would sound so angry. Nonetheless, he stands anxiously from his desk and walks as calmly as he can into his superior’s office.
“Ah, Jeon.” His captain looks up at him from his computer screen.  “Please. Sit.” He waves with a hand at the chair in front of his desk.
Jungkook gulps down the lump in his throat and tries to hide how his hands shake as he sits down across from the elder man.
“So,” his captain starts, voice strict and succinct. But, when his eyes finally make contact with Jungkook’s he cracks into a smile, letting out a boisterous laugh. “No need to look so worried Jeon, this is actually good news.”
“Good news, sir?” Jungkook does his best to keep his voice from wavering, but his voice cracks on the ‘r’ of 'sir' and his captain lets out a hearty laugh with a loud smack of his hand on the desk in front of him.
“Absolutely! I just got word from the narcotics unit that there is an opening. Another officer unfortunately got shot in the back and the doctors said the probability of him walking again is slim to none. Sad story, honestly." His captain shakes his head, eyes cast down to the file in front of him, most likely containing the information of the new position. "Such a rare chance shot. He will recover, but he’ll probably be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life...stuck doing desk work. So obviously, there is a need for a field replacement. And the name of the person I’d like to offer up to take his spot is yours, Jeon.”
Jungkook’s head spins at the sudden news. He had heard from fellow officers of the tragedy that happened in the narcotics unit. He remembers the chaos in the station when the news came around that an officer had been shot on duty. It was utter madness trying to get everyone to focus back on their work. But, never would he have imagined that it would have led to an opportunity for him. They all thought he was going to recover. Then again, the more Jungkook thinks about it the more he realizes he didn't really have much information about the incident to begin with.
"Captain," his voice is raspy and he swallows hard to alleviate the dryness in his throat. "I am greatly honored to be offered this position. I will do my best to do you and this precinct proud."
His captain stands, adjusting his belt, "Excellent! I believe you will do this position justice. Now, Jeon, I must warn you. It's a known fact that there is a lot of corruption that can't be stopped in narcotics. Promise me to keep your hand out of the pot for as long as you can."
Jungkook stands, back straight as if he were back in his academy days. "Absolutely, sir. You can count on me."
His captain offers his hand, to which Jungkook gives it a firm shake. "Alright, Jeon. Report to Lieutenant Kim down in narcotics and he'll fill you in on everything that's been going on."
"Thank you, Captain. I won't let you down."
The rest of the day passes by in blur. Lieutenant Kim Junmyeon seems more strict than the stories he's heard about the man, but he gets the feeling he's putting on the act because Jungkook is new meat on his team. Junmyeon shows him to his new desk, and introduces him to the other members of the team. He's surprised by the bright faces that occupy the other desks around him and tries his best to remember all the names of his new coworkers.
When they have their first team meeting to catch him up to speed, he's delighted to find out he's going to be working most closely with a man who seems to be around his age, and the friendliest looking out of them all. "Jeon, you're going to be partnered with Kim, he'll show you the ropes, get you caught up on the cases he's working on."
The man to his right gives him a pat on the back, "Welcome to the crew, man. You're not the same as my old partner, but I'm sure we'll get along just fine."
"Thanks," Jungkook mutters, unsure of how he's meant to feel at the man's words. He tries to remember his name from the introductions earlier. "It’s Kim....Taehyung, right?"
"Yep!" The sandy blonde haired man gives him a huge smile. "The one and only. You can just call me Taehyung. No need for formalities if we’re going to be partners."
“Ah,” Jungkook bows slightly. “It’s nice to meet you. I look forward to learning from and working with you.”
“Alright, that’s enough,” Junmyeon’s voice brings their attention back to the front. “Jeon is going to be with us for the time being, as it looks like Song won’t be able to work in the field again. So treat him like he’s one of us, because he is. And Jeon, don’t think that because you’re new here I’m going to go easy on you. You’re one of us now. Prove it.”
“Yes, sir.” Jungkook stands a little straighter, and nods. He doesn’t want to let his new unit down, and he will do everything to prove that he belongs here. He won’t waste this chance.
“Good. Well, that’s all for now. Kim, make sure to bring him fully up to speed, so that by tomorrow morning he can land with a running start.”
“Absolutely, Lieutenant.”
“Dismissed.”
After the meeting ends and before Jungkook can even settle back into his desk, Taehyung pulls him into a separate room. “To really give you the full picture of what it’s going to be like working with me, first, you need to see where you’ll be spending most of your time,” Taehyung says as he flips the light on in a small conference room.
There before him lay two whiteboards full of red arrows and lines connecting everything together. The whiteboard on the left of the room is covered with mugshots and names, one large portrait hanging in the middle at the top, with the name Min Yoongi written in large letters underneath. ‘Gang leader’ is scribbled above the photo. From what Jungkook could make out from the blurry photograph, there was an SUV parked outside of what appeared to be an abandoned building, a man being escorted into the car, most of his body shielded from the camera’s view.
The whiteboard on the right was filled with mostly question marks, except for very few names and pictures across the bottom of the board. All of the named photos were listed as ‘dealers’, which made Jungkook wonder about all of the missing information.
“This,” Taehyung starts, “is what you have missed. These are all of the names of the known members of the two largest cocaine gangs in the area, as well as suspected leaders. We know almost all there is to know about one gang,” he says pointing to the board on the left side of the room. “We’ve been extremely close to capturing the higher up gang members several times, but somehow they always get away at the last second.”
“And this,” Taehyung points to the board on the right. “This is, well. Right now this gang is pretty much a mystery. We got really lucky busting a drug deal on the side of the road. We were stationed outside of one of the suspected warehouses for this gang,” he explains, gesturing the the board on the left.
“We heard a knock on the window, honestly we thought we’d be been busted. Turns out it was just some idiot had come up to our unmarked car and tried to deal to cops,” He points to one of the faces at the bottom of the board. “Poor kid had no idea. But, lucky for us, it was our first big break into this new gang. We only figured out there was another gang operating in the city when we questioned him about the higher ups in--what we thought at the time was--the gang he was in.” Taehyung tapped the left board as he passed it, pacing around the room. “We found out very quickly that we were wrong when he spit in Song’s face. ‘Scum,’ I believe is what he so kindly called them.”
Jungkook’s head is reeling from all of this information. He’s always wanted to move up the ranks in the force, into a different department where he wasn’t just constantly on the prowl for people going a little over the speed limit. But now that he’s here he’s concerned he won’t be able to keep up. But he tries his best to follow along as Taehyung continues.
“Well, we believe they’ve been operating in this area for a long time, possibly longer than Min Yoongi’s gang. But, somehow they’ve gone relatively unnoticed, minus seemingly unrelated drug busts over the years. Song and I had to do a lot of digging to make the connections to past cases. But, once we caught two other dealers in the same area, we knew we’d caught wind of something big.”
feedback is always welcome! please feel free to leave some here!
A/N: Song is Song Minho...but this chapter and maybe one more is the only time I’m going to mention him by name. I’m not supportive of him at the moment and I won’t go into details (you can do your own research abt the subject), but I thought I should clarify who Taehyung’s old partner was. Now you know!

Yoon/Min Brooklyn Nine-Nine AU!
yoongi and jimin are both detectives, yoongi’s good at what he does and proud of it until jimin gets transferred to their precinct and starts to show him up which is frustrating because jimin’s super laid back and somehow naturally good at what he does AND he keeps teasing yoongi for the smallest things which just rubs him the wrong way
jimin keeps trying to hang out with yoongi in and outside of work which yoongi really hates and he avoids him as much as possible until they’re paired together for a case during which yoongi discovered that he may have judged jimin a little too harshly at first because even though he’s a goofy fuck, he really is good at what he does
they become somewhat friends after that and yoongi takes jimin a little more seriously when it comes to work, but it might be the fact that they’ve had to fake date before but the more they get paired together, the more yoongi thinks he might..... be into him...
taehyung, jungkook, hoseok, are also detectives, namjoon’s the detective sergeant, seokjin’s the self-obsessed civilian administrator
bang pd’s the gay captain
send me an au and i’ll give you 5+ headcanons about it

MONSTA X BROOKLYN 99 AU
SHOWNU
The new captain assigned in the nine-nine. The nine-nine is Hyunwoo's first precinct, and being the youngest captain in the department, he wants everything to go well. He doesn't need to worry too much about that though, because the sergeant, Hoseok, is very good at handling the squad. His secretary, Minhyuk, also seems very reliable (and also really cute if you ask him) so he has high hopes in running the precinct. The antics of the squad keeps surprising him and causes him stress sometimes but overall they're good people and they do their jobs well.
Tumblr media
Hyunwoo waits anxiously inside the elevator, two floors from below him will be the start of his career as a captain. He is slightly nervous, passing the exams is a completely different story from actually running a precinct and handling people. He's also excited, this will be a whole lot of an experience for him and he can't wait to learn new things from the squad. The elevator dings and the doors open. He is greeted by the sight of balloons stuck to the ceiling and a red carpet laid out in front of him. He cautiously steps out of the elevator, the moment he did, he hears a pop from his side and confetti flies in front of him. A man about his shoulder-length with ash gray hair steps in front of him. He makes circular movements with his right hands and bows, his right hand extended and his right arm on his torso. A white-haired man steps in front of him. He makes circular motion with his right hand and bows, his left arm on his torso and his right arm extended. "Welcome to the nine-nine Captain..." he trails off and raises his head to look at Hyunwoo. "Son. Son Hyunwoo." "Welcome to the nine-nine Captain Son." He fully stands up. "Rest assured that will precinct will be the best you've handled yet." "This is actually my first," Hyunwoo says. "Then we will make sure that it won't be the last. "Turn up the music!" The man shouts. Gangnam style starts playing from a stereo Hyunwoo is not sure where at and the people in the room starts dancing. As he watches the scene in front of him, he thinks that this will certainly be a whole lot of experience.
WONHO
The sergeant of the squad. He had been the sergeant for 4 years in the squad so he sees every detective under him like his children. So as every parent is to their children, Hoseok tends to be very soft to his squad. Whenever some of them are in a pinch he will come running even if he was in his robes (Minhyuk just couldn't wait for that bacon to be cooked and somehow caused a fire.) He is just a little softer (or harder, Changkyun comments) for their resident beauty Chae Hyungwon. He had worked with Hyunwoo back when he was a detective and had seen how capable he is. So when he heard that Hyunwoo was going to be their new captain, he knows they're in good hands.
Tumblr media
It shouldn't have surprised him really. He had been together with them since Changkyun first joined so he knew them like the back of his hand. He knew that they would do something for their new captain. Something like dressing up Romeo and Juliet kind of costumes and the one wearing Juliet's would launch a speech about his love for Romeo, like what they did when he first came. He just didn't expect a full-blown party that resulted to 3 detainees breaking out. He now stands in front of their new captain in his office, profusely apologizing for the trouble the squad has caused him but not before telling Jooheon and Changkyun, the mastermind behind all of it, to clean everything up all by themselves. Including the cake that exploded all over the floor. "It's alright serg. I share the fault with them. I was too amused to stop them. This precinct is something, we didn't have anything like this back at the one-eight did we?" "No sir," Hoseok answers. "So tell me about the squad." They watched everybody from the office window. "Aside from the presumably wild side that I have already seen. How are they as detectives?" Hoseok bows his head in shame but quickly regains himself. "That's Im Changkyun," he points at Changkyun who is serenading a very irritated looking Kihyun using his map as the microphone. "He's the youngest in the squad but also the smartest. He solves all the cases handed to him faster than any detectives here." Hyunwoo nods at that. "Lee Jooheon," he points at Jooheon who doing a dance accompaniment, by flapping his arms around, to Changkyun's serenading Hoseok sighs. "He's the best at apprehending criminals. Not one criminal had able been to get away with him in pursuit. He's fast and strong." Hyunwoo hums. "Chae Hyungwon," he points as Hyungwon who is fondly watching the little love story unfolding before him. "He's good at interrogating. He made a criminal confess 10 minutes after he was detained. He has this certain charm the people just can't. It's like his presence alone makes people want to worship. "Hmmm..." Hyunwoo side eyes Hoseok. "What?" "Nothing, go on." "That one's Yoo Kihyun," he points at Kihyun who finally had enough of the serenading and storms into the break room, making Changkyun and Jooheon get back to cleaning with a pout on their face. "He's on par with Changkyun in solving crimes. He keeps trying to beat Changkyun on who can solve a crime the fastest. He may be small but he's strong too." "He's not in good terms with him?" Hyunwoo asks. "Oh no, they're really friendly outside working cases. I may be their mother hen but Kihyun actually babies Changkyun a lot." "Their mother hen?" "Uh huh. Got a problem?" Hyunwoo chuckles. "Nothing. Go on." "Well they're all there is," Hoseok concludes. Hyunwoo looks at him. "What about the blonde over there?" He points at Minhyuk who is making Hyungwon watch a video. "Oh Minhyuk. Minhyuk isn't really a detective. He's kind of like a secretary here. He's very good at gathering information though. He's really good at talking and handling people. He's the one comforting victims. Ome time, while he was comforting one, he managed to get a crucial clue from the victim. Sometimes a casual conversation is the best way to get information." "Your dynamics are wonderful. One makes up for what another lacks." "I guess." Hyunwoo extends his right arm to him. "I look forward to running this precinct and working with the squad sergeant Hoseok." Hoseok takes it. "We're looking forward to working with you too, Captain Son."
MINHYUK
The one who sees everything. He knows everything that's going on in and out the precinct. He knows the 3-week expired cheesecake in the HR's refrigerator, the guest list of the daughter of the federal justice judge's wedding, and the requited love between the sergeant and Hyungwon courtesy by Hyungwon's drunken confession. He is a good listener as much as he is a good talker so the squad comes to him whenever they want someone to talk to. (He's also a single pringle that super available especially for their new captain)
Tumblr media
Minhyuk looks at his watch. It's been thirty seconds. His pizza should have been fully reheated by now but the microwave is still on. "You guys, new captain, new microwave. I'm not the only one being trolled by this microwave right?" "You're right. I heard Hoseok had been with the captain back then. You could talk to him and maybe he'll talk to the captain for us," Hyungwon says. Minhyuk smiles. "What?" "Nothiiiing~ Maybe I should talk to Hoseok," he sing songs. "That's what I said." "Hm. Hm," Minhyuk replies and goes back to his pizza. One full minuter later, he finally takes the pizza out of the microwave. He manages to take his first bite before Hoseok comes looking for him. "Min. The captain wants to see you. "Everybody does," he says. He takes a second bite of the pizza before walking over to their new captain's office, leaving the pizza vulnerable to anyone. "Good morning Mr. Lee," Hyunwoo greets him when he enters the office. "Hi Cap, call me Minhyuk. We're going to be friends now," Minhyuk says. "Alright Minhyuk," he extends his arms to him. Minhyuk takes it in a handshake and Minhyuk notes of his strong grip. Perfect for holding me down. Hyunwoo releases the handshake. "So, Minhyuk, the serg told me about the squad and you. You have a great team by the way." Minhyuk tilts his head in agreement at that. "I can't ask him about himself because it's always a burden to someone when asked to tell them about themselves. Therefore, I'm asking you about him." "Of course Cap. Shin Hoseok is one hell of a detective. He's great at solves every crime given to him. He has no unsolved crime on his record. He's not fast like Changkyun but he makes sure that he solves everything. He had a 2-year running case before and he was solving it while working on other cases." "Hm. He's really one hell of a detective," Hyunwoo says "Uh huh," Minhyuk replies. "Thank you Minhyuk. Please call everyone in the briefing room. I'll be there in a minute." "Aye aye Captain," Minhyuk says while doing a salute.
KIHYUN
The little monster of the group. He had been underestimated because of his height when he first became a detective but he worked harder than anyone else. He tends to be very cautious and wary of his surroundings, so one should be careful when approaching him from behind or else they'll walk away with a broken arm. (He totally does not regret putting Changkyun in his place when he surprised Kihyun from behind.) He's also very competitive and he considers Changkyun to be his rival in terms of work (and Jooheon in terms of Changkyun's attention)
Tumblr media
Kihyun sits at the front beside Hyungwon. Hoseok and Hyunwoo come into the room and Hyunwoo gathers their attention. "Good day everyone. I'm your new captain Capt. Son Hyunwoo. I'd like to know more about everyone but we have three detainees to get back," Hyunwoo says, looking at Jooheon and Changkyun who are sitting on the back. "We have to make this fast so we're going to get everyone work." Hyungwon heaves a sigh. "I'm also joining one of you to see how you work on the field." "Nice," Jooheon says. "Detective Chae, you're with me. Our detainee is Kim Doohyun. He's been accused of robbery." He shows a picture of a grumpy looking man with black hair. "Detective Yoo and Seargent Lee will be working together. Your detainee will be Man Goryu. He's also been accused of theft." He shows a picture of a man about his early twenties protruding eyes. "As for you detectives Im and Lee, you'll be going after Nam Chanho. He's been accused of homicide." He shows a picture of a buff guy with a scar on his lips. "Oh wow, we get the worse and scariest of them all," Jooheon remarks. "The two of you caused this, you really should have seen this coming," Kihyun says. "I know right? This is going to be awesome!"  Changkyun says and hi-fives Jooheon. "You two are hopeless," Hyungwon says. "You mean holess because, this precinct just lost Chan-HO," Jooheon says. "Yes. And it's your job to catch them," Hoseok says. "Yeah," Changkyun replies. A moment of silence passes the room as everybody looks at Jooheon and Changkyun. "That's all detectives," Hyunwoo finally speaks. "Good luck on your assignments. Dismiss." Hoseok approaches him. "Ready to do this Kihyun?" "I was forced ready." "Awwe come on, no need to be so begrudging. Let's go make this precinct HOfull. Hey, that's in my name also. So I guess this precinct is already HOfull. Oh no, what should we do Kihyun?" Changkyun and Jooheon need to stop talking for one day. "Our target is Man Goryu serg," Kihyun reminds him. "Then I guess we'll make this precinct YUfull. Hey, that's also your name." "Oh my god. Someone save me."
HYUNGWON
The fairest of them all. Hyungwon is that mysterious co-worker who you don't know anything about except their wardrobe. (The ever curious Minhyuk and the always-up-to-no-good duo Changkyun and Jooheon once followed him to find out where he loves and they ended up being locked in a warehouse for 8 hours) Hyungwon just loves his privacy and solitariness. He's not distant to the squad, in fact, he's closer to the squad than his family.
Tumblr media
"Thank you, ma'am," Hyungwon says to an elder lady in the sidewalk. He crosses the street to go back to the police car. He opens the car door and gets inside the shotgun. "Nobody saw him around here capt, looks like we have to keep looking," Hyungwon reports to Hyunwoo. "Where do you think we should go next? We've been to every street here," Hyunwoo says as he starts the car. They drive in silence, with only the car engine as the only noise. Hyingwon isn't really much of talker unless he's with Minhyuk or someone like him, and it seems that their captain is the same so he doesn't try to start a conversation. As they drive the city, Hyungwon notices a bookstore closes. It's one of those stores that usually closes for lunch. Something clicks in his brain. "Capt, I think I know where he is," Hyungwon says. "Really?" "Yes. His papers are yet to be processed so he is still innocent in the system. When he broke out, there's a chance that he will be running away for good. But since we confiscated all his robbery money, he'll have to rob again to have the amount of money he wants." "Hm. But where?" "He broke out today and he knows we'll be looking for him so he doesn't have much time. There's a possibility that he'll rob someplace that closes for lunch, someplace big." Hyunwoo parks the car to take his phone out. Hyungwon supposes he is opening his GPS. A few moments later, the captain seems to have found what he's looking for. "There's a pawnshop that closes for lunchtime two blocks away from here," Hyunwoo says. "That must be it." Hyunwoo starts the car. Hyungwon decides to turn on the radio on to fill the silence. Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift is almost finished when he turns it on, and the next song that plays is Rihanna's Bitch Better Have My Money. JOOHEON
The resident prankster and 1/2 of the up-to-no-good duo. Jooheon demands his presence to be felt. It's just impossible to ignore him when his presence alone catches attention. He always plays the decoy when they launch secret operations, not only he can immediately catch everyone's attention in the room, he can also fight them off when things go a little of their grid. (The whole squad still hasn't gotten over that one time Jooheon made a man chase him for 3 kilometers and still managed to talk properly after it)
Tumblr media
Changkyun and Jooheon are currently running after their target. They got into an abandoned tunnel and lost the suspect completely in the dark. "Go around Kyun, find a possible exit and search around that area, I'll go from here," he says to Changkyun. Changkyun nods and leaves. Jooheon points his gun forward and starts to take careful steps into the tunnel. He focuses his ears to his surroundings. The place is eerily quiet, save for the sound of cars outside. The criminal must still be nearby, moving slowly but surely. He walks for a few more meters, getting deeper and deeper in the tunnel but still having no sign of the perp. "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH," he hears a shout from somewhere. "Kyun," Jooheon exclaims. Jooheon is quick on his feet, he runs straight ahead to find Changkyun. The tunnel pretty short, Jooheon realizes as he reached Changkyun pretty quickly, who is now on the perp's back and trying to be shaken off. The perp is much bigger than Jooheon, but he's confident he can take him down still. The only problem is Changkyun, being his back. "Shoot his leg!" Changkyun shouts. The perp notices him and starts running toward, which is a pretty awesome feat since he has Changkyun on his back. He starts to run away from him. "Heon! Shoot his leg." The two of them knows that Jooheon can't. They can only shoot a perp unless they pose a serious threat, which is not the case right now, except that he's just being really scary, running after Jooheon while screaming. "Shoot my leg," Changkyun shouts once again. "What the hell!" "You might accidentally shoot his shoulder and slow him down. There would be no word for us." The perp just keeps on running and screaming in the midst of their conversation. "I'm not doing that!" Changkyun groans. They had already exited the tunnel by now, and people are looking at the three of them. "How are we supposed to slow him down?" Jooheon gets an idea. He runs and runs and runs and the perp just keeps on running after him, not having an idea where Jooheon is leading him. A true musclehead. If all goes well the perp may get tired from all the running and Jooheon can quietly arrest him before they get to the precinct. At one point, Changkyun shouts, "I'm going to sleep," and really slept. The perp does not get tired and they eventually reached the precinct. He sees Hyunwoo and Hyungwon's car pullover. "Chae!" He shouts at Hyungwon. Hyungwon sees him and quickly gets out of the car. Hyunwoo stops him and tells him something. Hyungwon nods and Hyunwoo is the one that backs Jooheon up. The perp seems to finally realize what is going on because he runs the opposite direction. Jooheon does the same. Hyunwoo is suddenly beside him. "Detective Lee, I need you to jump on him from behind and knock him down, can you do that?" "Definitely cap," he replies. Jooheon increases his speed and lunges for the perp, effectively jumping on them and pinning him against the ground. "AAAAAAAAHHHH," shouts Changkyun. "Had a good sleep?" "I can't breathe," Changkyun says. Hyunwoo catches up to them and handcuffs one of the perp's hand. Jooheon and Changkyun get off him and Hyunwoo cuffs the other hand. "Good work detectives," Hyunwoo says. "I think I broke a bone," Changkyun says. "Congratulations bro. You now a badge of honor to wear." CHANGKYUN
The little genius of the group. 2/2 of the up-to-no-good duo. He had been quiet before he came to the nine-nine. He knows he's smart and he uses that to his advantage but the problem with being smart is that you're accepted but hated. When he first came to the nine-nine, he was overwhelmed by the genuine praises he received from them, unlike his previous precincts that just acknowledge his accomplishment. He is babied by almost everyone. He is especially being looked after by Hyunwoo because, even though Jooheon usually starts the shenanigans, Changkyun's tends to go a bit overboard. So as captain, Hyunwoo's job is to keep Changkyun in check to keep him from doing something that might affect the precinct. (He accidentally called Hyunwoo "dad" once and it is forever embedded in his records)

It was Hyunwoo and Jooheon that brought to Changkyun to the hospital, but for some reason, (which Changkyun is sure Jooheon calling Minhyuk and Minhyuk telling everyone and Hoseok freaking out and Hyungwon calming him down and Kihyun suggesting that they all should go) the whole squad is there when he exits the examination room. "What did the doctor say?" Kihyun asks. "I'm gonna die in seven days." "Awwweee... I get to keep your all of your album collection right?" Jooheon says. "Can you at least pretend to be sad and shed a tear first? And no, Hyungwon gets to keep it." "What? Why?" Jooheon wails. "I have placed a CCTV in them and they shall know where Hyungwon lives," Changkyun replies. "Oh, that's actually a good idea," "They're going straight to trash Im," Hyungwon counters. Jooheon and Changkyun simultaneously clutch their chests. "But seriously speaking though, what'd he say?" Hoseok asks. "It's nothing serious but he said that I don't do any field work for now." "Yes!" Kihyun exclaims. "I get all his open cases and I'm going to solve them slowly but surely. That's right, you ain't gonna be there to speed things up." "Speed things up. Guys we finally found Kihyun sex tape," Changkyun says. "Oh my god, shut up." "Well, it's good news that nothing serious happened," Hyunwoo says, placing his hand on Changkyun’s back, strong, forceful, heavy and painful. "FUCK MY BACK!" "Fuck my back. Looks like we found your sex tape too," Kihyun says.
