Pre-Order THE HUNGER GAMES: ILLUSTRATED EDITION
The Hunger Games as you've never seen it before -- in a remarkable illustrated edition.
Even at the age of sixteen, Katniss Everdeen knows it takes hard work, keen observation, and inner fortitude to survive in the world. Her home, District 12, is under the merciless rule of the Capitol, continually forced to pay after losing a long-ago civil war in the nation of Panem.
One of the ways the Capitol keeps control is its annual Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death featuring two young tributes from each of Panem's twelve districts. This gruesome battle is meant to send home a chilling message: Rebellion will always be punished.
When Katniss finds herself within the Hunger Games arena, she knows the odds aren't in her favor. Any wrong move will end her life -- and even the right moves come with a cost. But if she can survive, there is a chance the districts may survive as well...
The Hunger Games has enthralled millions of readers in its examination of the price of war, human nature, and the powerful force of both love and resistance. Now it appears for the first time in a deluxe illustrated edition, with spellbinding art from internationally acclaimed artist Nico Delort.

Hey! HEY! This is my book, Monsters, Aliens, and Holes in the Ground, coming to a bookstore near you on October 10, 2023 thanks to MIT Press. Pre-orders are live now pretty much everywhere, though I recommend using Bookshop.org, as I have been impressed at their packaging skillz. I have a real live copy of the book in my possession and I gotta say, itâs pretty neat.
What is the book? Itâs a look at the history and development of tabletop RPGs, one product at a time, arranged in chronological order across five decades. Itâs sort of like this Instagram feed, actually, but way more polished, and, you know, on paper. I covered the classics, but this is also very much an exercise in expanding horizons â I hope there is at least one game featured for every reader that they never heard of. To that end, there are lots of lesser known games, weird games, silly games, even a couple board games. All pulled from my collection, all illustrated with something like 350 photographs.
Thereâs original art, too. Kyle Patterson did the amazing cover, somehow transforming my deeply silly post-it sketch (last slide) into a canny encapsulation of the RPG experience. He did a two-page spread introducing each decade, and effortlessly capturing its essence. He also did a handful of gorgeous spot illustrations. All of Kyleâs art makes me low-key angry. How dare he be so talented? Iâll share more of it, and some sketches, later on. Youâll be annoyed by his talent, too, I guarantee.
We (thatâs myself and Derek Kinsman, who did the layout) also filled some empty spots with rights-free art from Amanda Lee Franck, evlynmoreau and natetreme, which is pretty rad - Amanda did the wizard van in the next to last slide - and also some Giovanni Battista Piranesi, cuz that dude had aesthetic for days.
And there you go, a first taste of 450-something pages of full-color RPG goodness. Go snag a copy now, yea? (Worth noting, this is the Standard edition. Iâll show you the Deluxe edition tomorrow.)

im excited for sxs gens but im really unhappy with the state of the pre order stuff tbh. digital players (but not switch players for some reason) getting to play it 3 whole days in advance while people who would rather have a physical copy or wanted the switch version have to wait and get spoiled on everything ? a bunch of bonuses like character skins and an art book and an entire new level being locked behind the digital deluxe edition and inaccessible to people wanting physical copies? i might be wrong but i think geralds diary might be a physical only bonus so youd have to choose between it and all that other stuff unless you feel like dropping a bunch of money on 2 copies which definitely wouldnt be worth it. this whole thing sucks so bad i would be fine with games i like never coming with pre order bonuses ever again if stuff like this would stop happening forever
#also isaw something saying that the playstation versions are getting exclusive bonuses but i cant find a source on that#so im not sure if its true. but it would suck if it was#i think it would be more fair if they would make some of the digital only content available through paid dlc#like how they made sonic mania plus and if you already had sonic mania you could just buy the new content as dlc#without getting any of the physical bonuses that came with the plus version#but idk if they would do that because i know the whole reason theyre probably doing this is to cash in on peoples fear of missing out

Oh god it's been MONTHS since I've touched this, but HELLO AGAIN!
I got really busy with work, practicing my art, and cosplay convention planning since I finished my first two chapters of this fic.
As much as I am excited and trying to foster motivation to continue working through chapter three....I was also wanting to wait a bit to see what was in store for Sonic X Shadow Generations. From the tidbits and promotional material I had seen of it, I knew it would be inspiring and would prompt important questions about how I want to portray Sonic, Shadow, Professor Gerald, and maybe more of Maria in my story. I have purchased the Digital Deluxe pre-order of the game and I am currently playing it. A friend has been kind to help me also obtain the exclusive physical book of Professor Gerald's Journal. I want to sponge all the information in these pieces of media for a bit to see what happens. Especially regarding the original Tones I had in mind for certain characters that might pivot into more complex tones and moral ambiguity. There are so many new details expanding upon the somewhat shrouded backstory of these beloved characters that I am excited to work through and ponder in relation to my own stories!
Thank yall for being patient!

LAST but not least!
For those that have been trying to assemble all of the old Moon Knight collections, we have

OK, so, as if having a massive book on RPGs coming out in October wasnât exciting enough, I actually have two massive books on RPGs coming out in October? Sort of. Same tasty words and pictures (with one exception, Iâll get to that in a minute), but totally different candy coating. This is the DELUXE edition of Monsters, Aliens, and Holes in the Ground, published by MIT Press and due on shelves October 10.
As you can see, we have a clothbound book and slipcase, stamped with both gold and black foil. There is a dramatic increase in the number of skulls on display. We also have an entirely different piece of Kyle Pattersonâs art set in as a medallion on the cover there. There is a sewn-in ribbon bookmark (natch), the pages are gilt and the inside of the slipcase is a lustrous gold. As I said, the interior is essentially the same, but with one key difference: this one has custom end pages in the front and back â those shelfies. That was a last minute addition in the production and I legit forgot about them until I opened the book for the first time and they look so dang cool. Itâs the little things.
Also, because there is nothing worse than having to forgo rad regular art for the special edition, they included an 8.5x11-inch card stock print (sans text) of Kyleâs painting for the standard edition inside the slipcase.
The deluxe is also up for pre-order everywhere. I can not stress how much I recommend pre-ordering this version via Bookshop if you want rest assured it will arrive in good shape. I also recommend pre-ordering the deluxe if you want to be sure to get it in October, as they were printed in a smaller quantity and I know at least my Patrons are snagging them fast.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches February 28, 2025 - Gematsu
Monster Hunter Wilds will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on February 28, 2025, Capcom announced.
Get the latest details below.
Our Story BeginsâŠ
Todayâs trailer provided the first look at the flagship monster at the center of the story in Monster Hunter Wilds, Arkveld. The mysterious monster Arkveld hails from a species long thought to be extinct, and bears uniquely shaped, chain-like wings. After rescuing the young boy Nata on the border of the Forbidden Lands, the Hunterâs Guild gathers its resources and forms the Forbidden Lands Research Commission to investigate the mysterious âWhite Wraithâ that attacked Nataâs home. In order to properly explore the Forbidden Lands, the Research Commission dispatches multiple units to the area. These include the Avis Unit made up of Alma, Gemma, the playerâs Hunter, and their Palico, as well as the Astrum unit, which includes the veteran hunter Olivia, who can join players as a Support Hunter, alongside her Palico Athos, the biologist Erik, and Werner the engineer.
A Living, Changing World
Todayâs trailer gave the first look at the environmental changes the Scarlet Forest experiences as it goes through its periods of Fallow, Inclemency, and Plenty alongside the various lifeforms that call the region home. During the Fallow, the Scarlet Forest is defined by the distinctive red-tinted rivers for which itâs named coursing through dense vegetation. Times of Inclemency cause a chaotic Downpour that drastically reduces visibility and leads to surging water levels and raging currents. After the storm breaks, the Plenty gives rise to a colorful ecosystem teeming with monsters, plant life, and sun dappled streams that reflect the vibrant blue of the clear sky. These clear waters allow visiting hunters to easily engage in the relaxing pastime of fishing or explore the regionâs abundant waters and rubble by swinging from nearby Wedge Beetles or riding on the backs of their trusty Seikret mount. As they explore, hunters may even encounter the local tribe of Lynians, known as Wudwuds, who have successfully adapted their lives and hideout to suit the ever-changing environment.
New Predators Emerge
As changes in weather herald new plants and wildlife, new monsters also emerge in the storm. Todayâs trailer gave the first look at the leviathan monster Uth Duna, which surfaces amidst the Inclemency of the Scarlet Forest. The apex predator of the Scarlet Forest, Uth Duna cloaks itself in a veil of water using ponderous secretions from its body. Additionally, hunters were treated to a first look at the new Brute Wyvern, Quematrice, that calls the Windward Plains its home. Quematrice sprays a flammable substance that ignites into flames from sparks created by scraping its tail against the ground.

When Monster Hunter Wilds launches on February 28, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, players will have access to Standard (MSRP $69.99), Deluxe (MSRP $89.99), and Premium Deluxe (MSRP $109.99) editions across all platforms. Together, the team ventures into an unexplored new frontier where surprises await around every corner.
A Living World â The Forbidden Lands spans multiple biomes with dynamic identities, such as the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest, where the ecosystems shift between vibrant seasons brimming with life, and unforgiving climates where monsters fight over limited resources. Changes in the landscape will impact the creatures that live there and push hunters to adapt as well.

Every creature hunters encounter in the wild has carved out a special place in its habitat and possesses unique attacks and behaviors. Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
