बता दें मंगलवार को ही लोकसभा में केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह भी बयान देने वाले थे, लेकिन विपक्ष के हंगामे के कारण वह अपना बयान नहीं दे सके। स्पीकर ओम बिड़ला ने सदन की कार्यवाही को स्थगित कर दिया था। गौरतलब है कि, देश के कई हिस्सों में इन दिनों नागरिकता संशोधन एक्ट के मसले पर प्रदर्शन जारी है। साथ ही साथ एनआरसी को लेकर भी विवाद किया जा रहा है। क्या है NRC? Maharashtra polls: Balasaheb Thorat says Congress ready to negotiate with Vanchit Bahujan Agadhi

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Balasaheb Thorat on Wednesday announced that his party has decided to hold alliance talks with Vanchit Bahujan Agadhi (VBA) leader Prakash Ambedkar, in a bid to ensure all secular parties come together to take on the communal parties. Thorat admitted that owing to the division of votes, a lot of damage had been done to the Congress in Loksabha elections (by VBA). “We have sought time from him for the meeting,” he said and added that the Congress will revive as it had revived in 1980. "Earlier, the Congress had written a letter to the VBA in this regard. In response, the VBA wrote a similar letter to Congress. Now, the Congress has sought time for a meeting and it will send a letter to the VBA in this regard," said a source in the party. The VBA is an alliance that had been formed between Prakash Ambedkar leader of Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh and Assaddudin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) just ahead of Loksabha election. The VBA had contested all 48 seats, damaging the chances of the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 10 seats where they polled over one-lakh votes. The Congress held a meeting review meeting over seat-sharing with the NCP on Wednesday. The source said that Ambedkar has responded "positively" to the letter inviting him for talks with the Congress and NCP leaders for the state polls. The source also claimed that Ambedkar wants the Congress to clear the perception that his faction was the BJP's "B-team", as alleged by the Congress and NCP during the Lok Sabha poll campaign in April. A senior Congress leader said that if the VBA joins hands with the opposition parties then there is no question of calling it the "B-team" of BJP. Notably, Ambedkar had recently said the VBA is ready to offer the Congress 40 seats and that if negotiations failed, the VBA was ready to contest all 288 assembly constituencies. "Considering the strength of Congress in the state, we have offered them 40 seats. Now they have to decide what to do about our proposal. There is no one to make any decisions at the Centre and in the state," Ambedkar had said.
