Weird/Fun Dream from July 29, 2024

When you have a dream about something you haven't thought about in years, and it goes sad (angst) quick.

Anyone remember Prétear?

Dream appeared to be post-story/kind of in epilogue, but Hayate and Himeno weren't dating. They were spending A LOT of time together though.

Enter random character that Hayate was apparently in a relationship with. If anyone wants to take this and use it, they can make it an OC or reader insert. 🤷🏼‍♀️ She had been waiting for Hayate for a while, but he had forgotten they were supposed to meet up. And this had been happening a lot lately.

She heads off and later sees Hayate with Himeno in a park, sitting on a bench together. They're talking and smiling, and he's completely lost track of time and forgotten he had plans (again).

She does "confront" him at that point, but it's more she steps into view. He sees her and asks what she's doing there, and she tells him she had been waiting for him for their date but he didn't show up or answer his phone when she tried to text or call him.

He thinks she's exaggerating for a second as he pulls his phone out, but then he sees the time, the messages/missed call(s), and the amount of battery life his phone still has.

Hayate apologizes and tells her he lost track of time. Himeno may join in, or she may not feel it's her place to get (more) in the middle. Hayate's phone then dies, and Himeno offers to help because she has a charger. They get a bit distracted with that, so they don't notice OC/reader quietly approaching and leaving the ring Hayate gave her beside him before hurrying away. She feels hurt/ heartbroken.

Hayate does look back up and notices she's gone. He looks around, and his hand brushes against the ring. He feels some dread and pockets it as he tries to locate her. Himeno does try to help.

Eventually, she breaks and becomes either something like the Princess of Disaster, some new kind of enemy, or a source of power for a new foe. The new enemy then goes off to gather new allies/henchmen/etc.

Later, Himeno and the Leafe Knights witness the "birth" of a new villain/general, and this general vows loyalty to their new queen. They have no idea who this new queen is. I think at some point that she is revealed, which leads Hayate into depression/more angst.

(Also had a minor crossover with other characters in other media being controlled/taken over/convinced somehow to join her (new villain). And one of these was Wally West? Which then lead to some of the Bats appearing, including Nightwing, and Wally snapping for the "Joker" to back off before he transformed.

This little crossover bit can be deleted/skipped entirely.)

I think the dream ended around this point, but it would be nice if it ended happily somehow?

But as I’ve gotten super into Buffy and Bangel, I’ve randomly remembered this panel and thought, “You know who it reminds me of some? Bangel.”

Prétear

Himeno Awayuki, une jeune fille de 16 ans, vient d’emménager chez sa nouvelle famille après le remariage de son père. Son arrivée est mal acceptée de la part de ses deux demi-soeurs, Mayune et Mawata, qui le lui font bien comprendre. Peu après, elle fait la rencontre des Chevaliers du Leafe : Hayate, Sasame, Kei, Go, Mannen, Hajime et Shin. Leur mission est de protéger le Leafe, la source de toute vie, de la Reine du Mal, Fenryl. Afin d’accomplir cette mission, ils ont besoin de l’aide de Prétear. La Prétear fusionne avec le chevalier afin de créer un nouveau pouvoir. Himeno découvrira alors qu’elle est l’élue…

She looked away and crossed her arms. Her presence in the Force drew in on itself, fading from his. Neither of them had any way of knowing exactly how much of the fleet had been destroyed before Snoke’s death and how much after. But obviously the answer was ‘too much’ either way.

Wearable Bishonen (aka an absolutely ANCIENT Prétear fic entirely to blame on the titular tagline of the erstwhile official website)

Where Sasame had gotten the shoes they were wearing was a much greater mystery. For lack of an actual dancing school within reasonable distance, they were in an abandoned warehouse, which they had dubbed ballroom for the occasion. It would be far too freaky a coincidence if this warehouse turned out to have been used to store soft-soled shoes in the past.

"Shall we begin?" his white-haired friend asked. Sasame stood in the centre of the dance floor, which Hayate had neatly wiped clean of stray crates and trolleys moments before, a slight smile on his face and his hand extended.

Hayate glared at him and replied through gritted teeth: "Don’t push your luck with that – that – that you tone of voice."

Sasame’s only reaction to Hayate’s stormy temper was a slight narrowing of his eyes.

Gradually, mile by mile, the act of swimming becomes familiar the way assembling and disassembling a rifle is, the way slitting a throat or piloting a fighter jet is. A skill that, for reasons beyond his clearance level, he gained long ago and which answers his call now that he needs it.

He swims.

And swims and swims, faster and faster. He could do this forever.

He swims along the bottom of the ocean, deeper and further from human civilization, until it grows dark even to his altered eyes. It might be the depth he’s descended to, or it might be nighttime. There must be a way to tell, but he doesn’t know it.

Endless Wave (aka an ancient Gundam Wing x Death Gate Cycle crossover, but fuck if I can remember what it was going to be about)

The nervous excitement that had made her snap at Heero before had by now turned into pure elation. She was going to Earth. She was really going to Earth!

After a final shove against a tightly wrapped bundle of winter coats, which they would need once they arrived in Japan, Hilde slid into the seat next to her long-haired fiancé and put the armrest in between them up. If she couldn’t get the seat next to the window, she would damn well make sure she’d have a good time in the one she did get. And when Earth came into view, she’d find a way for her and Duo to switch places. The latter would probably be made relatively easy by the former.

P; All kinds of things, to be honest. That Tron helped Clu drive off Flynn and then changed his designation because... well, because he felt like it, I guess. That Tron helped Clu drive off Flynn, and Flynn punished Tron for his disloyalty by taking away his name and everything it stands for. That Tron died fighting for Clu, and Rinzler is some other combat program repurposed in his image by Clu to honor Tron’s memory.

Sirius liep de woonkamer uit op hetzelfde moment dat Ted binnenkwam. Hij knikte in het voorbijgaan naar Ted, meer niet. Andromeda keek haar echtgenoot hulpeloos aan. Vijf minuten later kwam Sirius stilletjes de trap af, de koffer die Andromeda voor hem had ingepakt in zijn hand, en vertrok zonder nog een woord.

Pretear

Prétear (新白雪姫伝説プリーティア, Shin Shirayuki-hime Densetsu Purītia), También llamado Prétear - La Nueva Leyenda de Blancanieves, es una serie manga escrita por Junichi Sato e ilustrado por Kaori Naruse

La serie fue adaptada en trece episodios de anime por Hal Film Maker, Kadokawa Shoten, y Rondo Robe.

Sinopsis

Una chica de secundaria llamada “Himeno Awayuki” intenta adaptarse a su nueva vida después de que su viudo padre se casa con la Sra. Natsue, una millonaria. Hayate uno de los sietes Leafe Knights se niega a aceptar la existencia de una nueva “Princesa Prétear” y decide irse; en el camino ve un copo de la nieve roja de la Reina del Desastre, en eso accidentalmente choca con Himeno y Hayate al tocar su mano descubre que es la siguiente Prétear. Tiempo después Himeno muy deprimida sale al jardín donde se encuentra una enorme fuente, donde conoce al resto de los Leafe Caballeros (Caballeros de la Hoja o Leafe Knights), que son Sasame, Goh, Kei, Mannen, Hajime y Shin. Ellos le dicen que la nieve roja que ha caído en la ciudad recientemente es causada por la Saihi, o bien Princesa del Desastre, que está despertando y está usando para absorber “Leafe”, la esencia de toda la vida; con ésta misma crea monstruos gusano que absorben más “Leafe”. Piden a Himeno convertirse en la princesa “Prétear” y que les ayudase a proteger el mundo. Himeno rehúsa y huye, pero de repente recuerda lo que le dijo Hayate “los Leafe no huyen” y Himeno se compromete a ayudar. Hayate le pide que tome su mano y ella se fusiona con él para convertirse en la “Wind Prétear”, o bien, “Prétear del viento”. Después de ajustarse a sus nuevos poderes, Himeno es capaz de vencer al monstruo gusano. Pero luego descubre que Hayate está herido después de la batalla y se entera que al fusionarse ellos se convierten el las armas y escudos de “Prétear”.

 En lo personal esta serie fue muy disfrutable para mí cuando la vi por primera vez, y no miento cuando en el final dicen que ella se sacrifica para salvarlos a todos llore y como no hacerlo si me recordó al 100% los animes que veía en los noventas llenas de sacrificio hahahah, lamentablemente yo vi este anime casi 10 años más tarde después de su fecha de estreno, creo que ese fue el motivo por el cual me trajo nostalgia cuando lo vi. Su comedia romance y acción es estándar como los animes de este tipo pero eso no le quitan lo encantadora que puede llegar a ser y su sutil fanservice la mantiene para mi, fresca ya que es lo que actualmente reina en estos tiempos en el mundo del anime cansándonos fácilmente.

Last post of today(and one that’s Prétear related)!

This one is of Hayate and Himeno(one of my favorite ships ^•^) and a fanchild I made for them, named Hikari!💙💜🩷

In case anyone is wondering why I posted all these old drawings with almost no breaks at the same time, I originated from Instagram as @autisticaquariusartist, and had them all posted there, but since I love to draw and share A LOT of different things(and because IG hates that), I deleted them all, moved onto here and wanted to share them here, since they still hold up IMO

While I loved drawing fanart for this anime A LOT and of course wanted others to see it, please don’t expect me to post fanart of if from here on out, as I’ve moved on to other things and still have some other drawings from last year that I might also share this week.

Now I kind of want to rewatch Prétear. LOL (Since skimming through the manga, trying to find that one panel for my one Bangel post.)

It's been so many years since I've watched it.

And I do think Prétear is one of the rare cases where the adaptation is better than the original.

The manga isn't bad by any means. I like it a lot. But I don't know...

For one thing, I feel like the manga keeps Himeno's step-sisters and step-mother villainous and completely unlikable the whole time?

And at least in the anime, they tried to have Himeno reach out to Mawata (and somewhat vice versa) and those two bond some. At least for a second.

And even though Natsue (I think that's the step-mom's name. Gosh, it's been so long... and I might be spelling it wrong) is still kind of a jerk to Himeno in the anime, she still has cute moments with her new husband and you can tell they genuinely love each other. And her relationship with Himeno maybe seems more misguided here than pure contempt? It helps that she's not the Princess of Disaster in the anime.

I also prefer the anime not having a Hayate/Himeno/Sasame love triangle (I just hate love triangles, man) and being pure Hayate/Himeno (since the anime brings Takako back, and she's the Princess of Disaster in that, and Sasame ends up betraying the group for a while). It seems that that was really what it was moreso going for, anyway.

I don't know if I'm big on Sasame betraying everyone in the anime for love, essentially--though it does make for an interesting story--but I'll gladly take it over everything I think the anime does better.

And I definitely think Takako, the former Prétear (which causes a whole moral dilemma and identity crisis for Himeno), is a much better story.
