Hey 9wing!! Hello and I hope you're doing well <3

I've seen a couple of your posts mentioning this sort of sentiment and now I'm genuinely asking with curiosity; how would one think that Kaylor is a romantic love story?

No doubt, the songs are amazing masterpieces, the long-term perseverance is admirable and there are certainly many aspects of Kaylor that are poetic and remind me of the magic of 'soulmates,' whether that is practically real or not

However, even as a third party observer who has no stakes in this, I find it bleak and tiring sometimes

Constant backlash and scrutiny from the media, the people and most often your own fans; having to communicate in cryptic language; having to engage in unpleasant PR stunts; having to hide a central part of yourself just to survive in this world; not having the liberty to be yourself and love whomever you love loudly and proudly; being constantly misunderstood by a large fraction of the world; being loved but not seen; living in uncertainty about your own rights and freedom when the political climate's so unstable

I understand that life is not without problems and sometimes you have to do what you have to do with whatever choices are at your disposal. And these two will always have my support, and I make sure to respect my own mental health and step away from this site of the internet when things get too much

i think that everyone will have their own definitions of beauty or romance, so i understand where you are coming from, and your impressions are valid for you!

for me, there are aspects of their story that i just cannot find in other places in the world, and it’s always been something that brings me opportunities reflect on my own life and life philosophy.

i think that there is something to be said for the amount of unconditional love that they show one another that appears when picking haven for one another at the risk of their reputations. i recognize that it probably doesn’t look that way for many people but from my perspective, it’s how i see it. there is something singularly authentic about it to me. as a enneagram type 9 (where my username comes from), i gravitate to the concept of holy love like a moth to a flame, and the dynamic of seeing taylor push her lovers away all her life and then meeting karlie and being inspired by karlie but still fighting doubt and ultimately trying to push her away only for karlie to vehemently refuse to leave is just.. something that really speaks to me. it sort of embodies the human struggle not just to give love but to accept love. i’m not sure if i’m explaining it well but there is so much depth to the love that she writes about in these albums, separate from the heavy external factors that have shaped their story.

but for me, those external factors only work to heighten my interest and appreciation for their journey. in my career i’ve done a lot of executive coaching work and study in leadership theory and i find the study of defining moments (sometimes called crucible moments) incredibly interesting and for taylor and karlie, at the top of their game, the stakes could not be higher and their navigation of everything is very interesting to me.

and i think that the struggle is a part of the beauty because i don’t always find easy things beautiful, and by that i don’t mean that pain is beauty in some voyeuristic way but that success after pain feels more spectacular than success without struggle.

if you are a fan of literature or philosophy, i would recommend the seminal work of junichiro tanizaki called “in praise of shadows” — there’s a fairly well known concept in japan called wabi-sabi which is the idea that true beauty is found in the transient and the fleeting. that a falling cherry blossom is more beautiful than a tree in full bloom, or that cracks in pottery ought be to celebrated (there a tradition in japan of fixing cracks in ceramics with gold called kintsugi). tanizaki’s writing is very formative to this concept and it’s something that has giving me a heightened appreciation for things with complication and age.

How is your character dissatisfied with their life?  His life is basically cultivated entirely to be a hellish trap for his entire personality!!!  There is no part of this he ~actually enjoys!  Everything he wants is everything he can’t have and he feels trapped and ultimately completely alone and unwanted and unlovable all of which btw are his v worst fears in this life so <3  plus, if he ever gives up on this competition that flies in the face of all that, he feels like he’ll just be confirming that all of those fears are 100% true so its lose/lose all the time

(brief neglect mention tw) Facades, facades, facades. In hindsight, it’s a wonder her first words as a toddler hadn’t been scripted for her and pre-approved by the Astor PR team. She’s the only child of two lawyers - with her mother serving her second term as New York’s attorney general and her father ensuring that multi-million dollar corporations were able to skirt around their social, environmental and fiscal obligations. They’re not American royalty, not by any means, but the Astor name carries a certain weight, and her parents would sooner give up all their worldly possessions than let her forget it. It wasn’t her parents who brought her up, so much as their expectations. Perfect grades, perfectly behaved, perfectly aligned with their wants and needs. The Astors hadn’t really wanted a child. Were I to use one word to describe Henrietta, it would have to be sharp. It’s her defining characteristic - she’s all edges, all the time. Sharp wit, sharper tongue. At least that’s the curated version of her. The one you’d get to see. Beneath the high school mean-girl persona, behind the rolling eyes and raised brows, she’s genuine and vulnerable and has the capacity for care. But she’s been raised to believe that kindness is a weakness, something for others to exploit, and so she’s extinguished that flamed. Stubbed the embers into the ground with her foot. Because it’s easier to keep people at a comfortable distance this way. This way, they won’t get too close. They won’t be able to see her for the lonely, insecure person she’s tried so desperately to keep under wraps.

If there is such a thing as a universal truth, it is that teenage girls exercise cruelty rarely seen outside of cartoony depictions of hell. And if the Manolo-toting schemers of gossip girl were anything to go by, Manhattan girls were the absolute worst. Henrietta had thrown an uncharacteristic fit when her parents had broached the subject of moving (in the middle of the school year, no less) - tears wiped on the back of cashmere sleeves, voice choked with adolescent desperation. Were they trying to ostracise her from her peers? Ensure she’d stand out like a sore thumb? How did they expect her to find friends, when social hierarchies and cliques had already fully solidified by now? The answer to the latter was, unsurprisingly, Greer. Henrietta had hardly set foot on the grounds of her new alma mater, before Greer had linked elbows with her, flashed her a bright smile, and announced to anyone who’d listen that this, this was her best friend now. Maybe, she’d told herself as she returned home from that first day, moving hadn’t been such a bad idea after all. Ever since that first meeting, the two of them had been practically joined at the hip. If Greer was there, you could place a pretty safe bet that Henrietta was there. Joint birthday parties in their early teens, trips abroad over the summer holiday, secrets shared behind walk-in-closet doors. They were inseparable. It was the sort of friendship others looked at through either a lens of envy or aspiration. Or both. Perhaps that’s why Henrietta feels so guilty over how restricted she’d felt since traipsing in Greer’s footsteps all the way to Ogden. It wasn’t that she didn’t still love Greer in that platonic way a best friend does, because she really, really did, but college had just highlighted just how much her existence had been fashioned as an extension of Greer. It wasn’t like the power dynamic had ever been even, not even back in New York, but something about the new backdrop to their relationship had lit up its flaws like a starry night sky. Some real talk on Fi: a submission

 I’ve noticed a Fi-bias on the internet. It tends to glamorise Fi as this lofty, Wonder Woman function that somehow epitomises all that’s principled and good. I just read a PersonalityCafe thread listing the flaws of Fi and Fe. While Fe got blasted as manipulative, mindlessly conformist, and even psychopathic at worst, Fi got an easy pass with stuff like ‘refuses to go along just to keep the peace’ ‘cannot lie’ ‘cannot be persuaded to compromise its ideals’ etc. I laughed because these were clearly flattering ‘cute flaw’ descriptions. Like when a job interviewer asks you, ‘What’s your greatest weakness?’ and you say, ‘I work too hard!’ Cute flaw. Your interviewer will roll their eyes because your words will come off as self-flattery in the guise of critique. Saying that the flaw of Fi is ‘I won’t conform to stupid things! I’m too idealistic and principled!’ is not real talk.

Real talk is actual, hurtful, ugly flaws that make you go ‘Well, shit.’

As an INFP, I know what high Fi is like at its worst. It’s not cute. Let me share a story.

Last summer, my mum was diagnosed with cancer. All my friends were kind. But I felt a great gulf from my fellow high Fi-users because…none of them had gone through bereavement or family illness themselves. They could offer empathy or care on the surface, but I could always sense the gulf when they spoke. It was ‘I’m sorry to hear that’ and ‘I hope she gets better soon’ but - a patently obvious void within, an absence of deeper feeling. Fe users get a lot of crap for being ‘fake’, but have you ever heard a Fi mouth a platitude about something when they cannot relate their own experience or their own selves back to it?

Oh, they were kind, but their high Fi pulled them inextricably into their own inner universe. They were certainly willing to help, but ultimately their inner world was drenched with them (who am I? what am I here for? Me, mine, my). I know that inner radio - I have it myself. It blares away all the darn time! When I talked to them, I always walked away feeling more alone. Oh, of course they were sympathetic, but on a more fundamental level, their world was self-preoccupied (‘my musings, my ideals, my identity’). My grief felt lonely and cold after being in their presence. Some of the more tactless ones couldn’t help but explicate how my words fed their own inner world (‘This makes me think of my relationship with my family’/‘That makes me think of my mortality’).

It hurt like hell.

Told ya this story wasn’t pretty. This isn’t about the ‘cute flaws’ Fi usually basks in on the internet.

Let’s talk Fe. A common internet myth (one which walks hand in hand with Fi’s badass edgelord image) is that Fe’s just a people-pleaser, a PR manager, a nosy teacher, the function-equivalent of a mom elbowing her kids to say hello to the guests. Right?

Nah. Fe can be blazing warmth. Fe can be heartfelt. Fe can be passionate compassion. My isolation only lifted when I met a healthy Fe-user, Margo. Margo cared about my mom because – she just did. She didn’t need to know what it was like to experience her own mom ill. She didn’t need to have met my mom. Margo didn’t need to tie my experience back to who Margo was or what Margo stood for – heck, it wasn’t about Margo at all. She just sat on my bed and asked me questions about the colour of my mom’s eyes and where my mom went to school and gosh-where-did-your-mom-get-her-grit-from and something magical happened:

I felt warm.

I felt warm because I looked into that girl’s eyes and I could feel the care emanating from her. Over the next six months, Margo called me to ask how surgery appointments went; she looked through album photos with me; she texted me memes she said reminded her of my mom. And nah, Margo wasn’t an Enneagram 2. She just cared.

Now, Fi users can do all of these things. But what was different about Margo’s healthy Fe is that on a fundamental level, she had the capacity to care deeply about something and someone that she had never had any personal experience with. And her feelings did not centre herself or her life. It was about my mom.

It was the most comforting thing I could have received.

Now, this is not a Fi vs Fe post (for heaven’s sake, I’m a badge-carrying INFP myself). It is an attempt to go beyond the usual caricatures of independent warrior vs tyrant manipulator when we talk of Fi and Fe. To my fellow high Fi-users: not all our flaws are cute. Sure, we’re allowed to say we’re fierce free spirits; we’re allowed to say we refuse to compromise. Just remember to include stuff that doesn’t make us sound like the Justice League. We have flaws that are not cute and not glamorous and actually pretty unpleasant and hurtful for others. We may make things all about ourselves when someone else is suffering. We may not have room for someone else’s pain. We may project our own experience on someone else rather than making space for them. We may not make someone feel truly seen and heard. We may hurt someone through our self-absorption.

We are amazing, but sometimes….we need to learn to get ourselves out of the way.

aka i have a fever and don’t want to do calculus so here we are

used personality database data/discussion and made my own decision

theres been a lot of debate about hyunjae being an entp vs intp 

and by a lot i mean just on personality database but i must have an answer so here we are

the gist is that we’re all sure hes a XNTP but when it comes to cognitive functions it gets messy cause you’re just working with order

yeah yeah grant vs myers briggs, jungian, can it world

so me being the Ne user i am i need all the information in the world and then make connections

bad news for explaining it is that nobody except me has the exact connotations for what i’m talking about and makes sense in my head

the easiest way for me to explain this is that i use every personality categorization system, astrology, socionics, mbti, enneagram, and type people within each system

after that i start drawing lines between all of the classifications

its very nice for Ne to have a base because otherwise anything i’m trying to explain is more like grandiose hand waving while nobody understands

anyway

each test looks for something different

you can be the same type as someone with mbti but a different enneagram (entp 8w7 vs entp 2w3 - yes we know the 2w3 isn’t normal, he got fucked up as a child)

so i looked at this in a really holistic sense

its an intp with classic entp enneagram fixes

the general consensus is that jae is a 7w8 

(i have not looked super far i am going off of other peoples information but it feels correct)

argue all u want on the fixes but core is gonna be 7w8

its not uncommon for an INTP to have a 7 core

a wing 8 would make the 7 a little more daring and outgoing than your average 7w6

it would also make an INTP look closer to the ENTP stereotype

also please keep in mind that we see him around his members most of the time and all XNTPs become 10x more social and comfortable around close friends than in a new situation

remember that both ENTPs and INTPs have Fe/Si (opposite orders) as tertiary and inferior

for me its pushing until i hit a wall and going “great! now i know where the wall is” and i can avoid it from then on

i’m using “we” referencing ENTP/INTPs because they do share some fundamental similarities

speaking from my own perspective, XNTPs are able to fit in anywhere because they learned real early that their “normal” behavior was not acceptable, societal or otherwise

our entire society could be categorized as XSXJ

as an idol you have to be very careful with your image

growing up, parker was always really close to her dad. tom hassan was a minor league baseball player that had almost made it to the pros before he suffered a career ending injury, and parker had inherited his athletic ability. she was able to throw a baseball at the ripe young age of three, and by the time all of her friends were starting tee-ball, she had already joined little league. practicing brought parker and her dad closer together, and she knew if she looked out from the pitcher's mound, her dad would be in the stands watching.

and then one day, he wasn't.

when parker was a sophomore in high school, and the only girl on the boy's baseball team, she was a pitch away from throwing the first no-hitter in her school's history. she was on fire, and nothing could break her focus. she looked up to meet her dad's eyes — like she always did before she was about to throw the last pitch - and tom hassan wasn't there. parker lost her focus and the batter hit a home run; her team still won the game ultimately, but parker still felt like she lost.

DEATH/DRUGS/ALCOHOL TW. after that day, parker gave up on everything. she wasn't ready to take on so much responsibility; she was fifteen, for crying out loud! she did everything she could to stray away from responsibility: she quit the baseball team, her grades slipped, she started hanging out with an undesirable crowd, and she discovered the wonders of alcohol. it was nice to forget her problems for a night, even if they came to confront her in the sober light of day. but one night, she got in the car with a guy she'd been seeing - she knew he'd been drinking, but he swore he was good to drive. parker was too far gone to argue, so she climbed in the back while he and his friend claimed the front two seats. what happened next was a blur, but the next thing she knew, the car was wrapped around a tree. the two guys were unconscious or dead — she couldn't be sure which — but she luckily had come out relatively unharmed. she climbed out and ran, the adrenaline sobering her up enough to get her to a safe place. the two were pronounced dead on arrival, and nobody ever found out she was in the car with them, and she swore nobody ever would.

and then, her little sister got sick.

LIFE EVENTS

Charlotte “Lotta” Wrenn was born in Crescent Harbour in 1988, the third child of American Elizabeth & Briton David Wrenn. 

The family owned the bookshop in town, then named ‘Wrenn’s Nest’. When it was struggling, they were helped out by Raymond Blackwood Sr, and then unwittingly owed him a debt. 

Just before Lotta was born, her eldest brother Jonathan (5 at the time) was diagnosed with Leukemia. 

When she was four, due to Jonathan’s worsening condition, they moved away from Crescent Harbour, to London, to live with family. 

However, Jonathan’s condition improved, and she lived very happily with her family for another seven years, although both she and her brother, Edward, were left to their own devices often.

Just after she turned eleven, her brother’s illness took a turn almost overnight, and he passed away. He was 16. 

A year later, her parents had another baby, a daughter that they named Julia. Lotta never resented her, but she and Edward always felt slightly envious that their parents had had to have another child to fill the hole in the family, and that they weren’t enough.

Nevertheless, the family survived, and she lived in London with them until she was 18 years old, when she moved to Glasgow for University, majoring in English Literature, but taking courses in History and Mythology. 

In her History courses, she met a man and fell absolutely in love with him. They became engaged before she even finished university. 

Despite bagging a very sought-after internship in publishing, when her fiancé asked her to travel the world with him, she agreed, leaving her career behind. 

Whilst travelling, she found herself sober very rarely, spending almost all her time partying with her fiancé and people they’d meet along the way. 

Although she was more in love than she ever had been before, her relationship with her fiancé was incredibly toxic, as they fought more and more over their money, destinations, and accusations of infidelity. What had started as passion had turned into actual arguments. His devil-may-care attitude combined with her own growing regrets over leaving her future behind made their relationship tense, angry and unhealthy on both sides. 

She found herself relying on alcohol more and more in order to get through the day, which terrified her. 

After a drunk phone call with her brother, where he pointed out every way that she had changed, she collected all her belongings from the motel they were staying in, leaving her engagement ring on the cabinet, and left before her fiancé could return and she could change her mind.

Too ashamed of her state to go home, she ran to the only other place of familiarity, Crescent Harbour. This was six years ago. 

Since arriving in town, she started attending Alcoholics Anonymous under instruction of her brother. She had intended to simply get a job in customer service at one of the many establishments in town, but was almost immediately offered a job by Raymond Blackwood. 

He phrased this as a favour to her, a way to pay off the debt her parents owed him for all those years ago, when he had helped them. She accepted readily, unaware of how difficult working in PR for the Blackwoods would be.
