Take Proper Care of Your Pressure Cooker Gaskets
Tumblr media
The most important pressure cooker accessories are the pot, the lid, and gaskets. Indeed a pressure cooker is a very convenient option to cook any kind of meal. But sometimes the users get more inclined in taking care of the pressure cooker instead of its accessories. As a result, it could damage your pressure cooker entirely. Among the accessories, it is found that the gasket being one of the necessary element that requires replacement if not been cared properly. If the material of the gasket is made of rubber, which is commonly found in most of the domestic household. Thus, the heat and moisture affect the pressure cooker very easily. So, it is important to regularly check the gasket and make sure that it is in a proper working condition.
Clean after Every Use – The first and foremost way to prevent damage is to clean the pressure cooker thoroughly after every use. Also, after every use, it is a must that you clean the gasket with soap water. Never put the gasket in any kind of dishwasher.
Replace the Damaged One – Carefully inspect the gasket after every use especially if it is made of rubber and may have been destroyed due to regular use. It is damaged or toned then you soon replace it. It is also advisable that you always keep a spare one in your hand to avoid any critical situations.
Store with Baking Soda – No matter whether you are using an inner lid pressure cooker or outer lid it is important that you keep the gasket enclosing it in a sealed bag with baking soda. Place the sealed bag in the pressure cooker. This will help to get rid of unwanted odour and moisture that builds up in the gasket.
Restore your Gasket – Restoration is only possible if the gaskets dry up fast but if the cracks are visible in the gasket then replacement is definitely needed. Wash the gasket properly and air-dry it for some time. Also, apply some vegetable oil in the gasket to preserve it from dryness.

Differences between the Inner Lid and Outer Lid Pressure Cooker
Tumblr media
The pressure cooker is seeing a vast resurgence in the recent years of its existence. Pressure cooking is becoming popular as chefs are recreating classic dishes in no time in a pressure cooker. Be it a braised piece of lamb belly or a slow roasting pork shoulder or just baking a simple cheese cake pressure cookers are making all these recipes easier to make and quicker to cook. Along with the help of the latest pressure cooker accessories, these cookers are the new appliance that everybody wants in their homes and kitchens of restaurants across the globe.
But there is a major point of dispute here. Which type of pressure cooker should you buy? Should you buy the pressure cooker that has the lid inside the cooker or should you buy the electric one with the lid outside? All these questions are of vital importance and must be determined prior to you buying a cooker.
The Main Points of Difference:-
Let us see what the major points of difference are among the various pressure cookers that is available with you.
Size of the Cooking Pot – A very major point of difference in the two types of pressure cookers available to you is the size of the cooking pot. An inner lid pressure cooker is generally a small to medium sized cooker. The inner lid prevents the size from being too big. The outer lid pressure cooker on the other hand is much bigger in the cooking pot area The outer lid lets the cooking pot be much larger and thus a lot of ingredients can be put inside this one.
Safety – Inner lid pressure cookers are way safer than the new and modern outer lid pressure cookers. Main reason for this being that the inner lid pressure cooker does not blow out its top even at higher pressures. With the outer lid ones it is plausible that the excessive   build-up of pressure might cause the valves to come off and cause an accident of monumental proportions.
The Basic Procedure of Timing – Outer lid pressure cookers have set of valves and timers and the pressure can be programmed to go off at particular times. The inner lid pressure cookers are slightly different in this regard. Inner lid pressure cookers have a small valve that goes of like a whistle periodically as the pressure mounts to maximum in the cooking pot. Keeping track of the time in the outer lid pressure cooker can be done with the help of pre-set timers, but in case of inner lid pressure cookers the number of times the whistle goes off keeps the count intact.
Sunkwik is a manufacturer of pressure cooker based out of Kolkata India. Since they are primarily an Indian company they specialize in inner lid pressure cookers. Along with pressure cookers you will also find other kinds of kitchen appliances in plenty from their e-commerce website at www.sunkwik.com.
