Hugos design i just wanted to put him in something more Loose. hes a thief, a professional escape artist. i dont think wearing clunky metal is ideal for him. i also gave him a prosthetic arm (blond w no arm design trope!) but u cant see it in the ref so i added another drawing of him in his under layering👍 i vaguely referenced russian(?) clothes for him as well... yong came relatively easy to me, if it wasn't obvious i did rip gaming from g*nshin's hoodie. i thought the lion hood was Adorable and freaking perfect for what i had in mind for hos character. since the og notes said the fire kingdom is loosely Chinese inspired i basically just kept that. i mashed tgt a buncha diff dynasties though sorry for how inconsistent i was... i think he looks Okay. anyways i changed yongs role a bit, ill explain why im adjusting some of their roles later but i kept yong as the Jinx Type character. hes the eldest in his family and has a buncha younger siblings, hes a lion dancer and does performances w his family/siblings. he rly like special effects n keeps tryna incorporate his fireworks into their performances (it flops and he has to sew up the dmg) ill explain more of yongs role in another post maybe shrugs... miss nuru was a bit of a struggle for me i might share my full design process with her coz i did a Bunch of mockups for her😭😭😭... i didnt have a specific country of reference for her but i chose to make her vaguely south asian inspired. i also really wanted to keep the sheer fabric w the star / constellation map. i love that idea its so cute so shes still technically the navigator. but she also wields a sword too, fencing or whatever. (her and varian r Huge Cass fangirls which is probably why she started tryna use a sword (snuck out to watch cass compete) Okay ill talk abt this later) in my head, okay ill Probably make a whole nother post talking abt how im interpreting/writing each chara, but in my head i think nuru is the youngest and her kingdom's archivist. shes mostly in charge of like Her kingdoms history / artifacts / etc. ok im getting too side tracked ill save the lore dump for later but thats Nurus role in the party. uhm below i made their character stats mostly to help me with planning / role developing. the yellow is their base stats the color behind is their end stats i guess. i was gonna explain my reasoning for their stats but ermm this post is kinda Really long so sorry😭... varian max int for obvious reasons, also max charisma just coz i feel like u kinda learn a thing or two being around a couple manipulators and spending time in jail idk shrugs... (also lets not forget the "ud b surprised what ppl would do for a cookie!") Hugo slippery guy, if a brick is thrown at him as hes running hes gonna try n run faster to shatter it, his mindset is Run Run Run! i think hes relatively agile too but yeah mostly a Speedster. i think he n varian got no Physical strength varian maybe just like A little coz Farm boy but I rly doubt quirin is making him do a Lotta heavy lifting. yong has incredible stamina and agility because hed a performer. nuru is the strongest coz this team would literally Flop without a proper Offense😭... i think varian n hugo r able to outwit plenty of their opponents but i think nuru is pretty good in a fight, same w yong. actually got shocked still when i saw this WDYM PPL R INTERESTED IN MY YUUSONAS GUYSSSS :sob: :sob: cue that one audio thats like "theories?! ive waited years for someone to ask me about my theories!!" or however it went

TODAYS SUBJECT IS YUUTO WHO CHEERED!!!! (is that because yuuto's been alive in my brain for months and kiyuu only a couple weeks... maybe but shhhh) fun fact! he goes by it/he and is transmasc, but this isn't known by anyone other than my ocs :) yuuto isn't his birthname & nobody knows his deadname, not even any of my ocs ;p my premise for yuuto was basically that i was reading a lot of yuu-insert and then retelling the plot of twst type fics, and sorta noticed how a lot of the yuus were really similar, yk the bubbly, shy, oblivious type? and it sorta got me thinking like "what if yuu WASNT like that?"

that then got me to thinking of the idea of "hey wouldn't it be funny if there was no grim but instead yuu was the one to be impulsive and have anger issues and be the one to instigate everything and stuff" and BOOM YUUTO WAS BORN there are alot of things about yuuto that i think are significant to do with his character and stuff, i really tried to make him unique and also just in general a character with lots of depth and thought put into him :D he's a very impulsive and violent person, often resorting to violence first when people make him angry or piss him off. (you do NOT wanna know what went down during yuuto & ace's first meeting /j) (yes he abuses the hell out of the fact that there isn't a rule against fighting WITHOUT magic) the thing that gets on his nerves the most, is people assuming things about him. this can go from people assuming he's weak, to things like assuming what he would and wouldn't like or do in certain circumstances, etc. he hates having his autonomy taken away from him, and will almost never follow orders from others unless he's close to them or unless its like rly serious he also hates being mocked or made fun of, as well as being talked about behind his back. he has gotten... lets just say a LOT of detentions for beating people up because of this... (he doesn't go to any of them tho) (what's crowley gonna do about it, expel him?) he also very much has an avoidant attachment style, and he subconsciously sort of like turns down the opportunities to interact with people like he probably should to keep connections and stuff (luckily for him he has kiyuu to drag him around everywhere) (bffies fr) another thing about him that i think is pretty significant to mention is that hes 100% an adrenaline junkie... he loves playing sports and he loves starting and participating in fights (whether life threatening or not) the only times you'll really see him smile are when hes hung on an adrenaline rush from one thing or another. he absolutely thrives at broom riding (in my au i made it so that brooms already have magic and all they need to go from resting to moving is just a little additional magic to 'start it up' which he usually pesters anchor or mace to help with), so much that he often completely refuses to actually do whats being instructed of him and just goes absolutely nuts on the broom (he literally does not try in any other subject except flight class so at least its something??) he also loves playing spelldrive and is in the spelldrive club. despite not knowing any of the rules until learning about the sport like less than a month ago or some shit he's still actually a really good player because he loves it so much

(if you see him grinning almost maniacally or some equivalent of that while fighting an overblot... er... thats not a hallucination hes just feeling a bit silly!!1!1!!1!) if presented with the opportunity to go home, yuuto with refuse, and will keep refusing till the day he dies, even if he was forced. he's attached to the thrill of this new and not-boring life at NRC, and thinks that its infinitely better than the life he had before. he thinks of the fact that they were isekai-d as a miracle, and a chance at a fresh start in a brand new environment, and he would rather DIE than return to the life he had before. aaand thats a wrap for right now!! if i keep going i fear i wont get anything else done today LMAOO...

YES i have severe adhd it's been real fun trying to function in a society

what i do (some tips are replicable maybe some r not lol):

write when i Want to.... ofc this urge doesnt always strike, sometimes u do have to go force urself through a block, but i will listen to a fic playlist or daydream about the fic and it will make me Want to write down what im thinking about. having that actual desire helps lol. bc then, even if my brain is having trouble focusing My Heart/Dick still want to write so im more likely to keep pushing instead of give up

borderline sensory deprivation honestly, i can't listen to music or watch tv or anything when i write or read or think, so i blast white noise in my headphones and get completely sucked into the doc lol

i make a separate desktop on macbook that is just two windows, the fic outline on the left and the doc or writing program on the right. that way if i go to open a tab to google something for the fic i dont see other windows/tabs of Fun Stuff i was doing before that might distract me lol

i use the Forest extension with all social media blacklisted so that when my attention wanders and i open a tab to go to twitter or whatever by muscle memory, the extension puts me back in my place with the big "Ur gonna kill ur tree if u proceed" screen and im like "UUUGGHHHH thats right im supposed to be writing FIINEEE ill go back"

know when and how to give up..... sometimes writing rly isnt working but it's still good to try, if the words arent coming out right i try to settle for like. ok well i'll open the outline and i'll read over that, or reread earlier part of fic, to see if it reinspires me. if its really not working (if ur too tired/frustrated that will show in the writing style ukno) ill at least add bullet points of what the next parts of the scene should be. maybe i dont feel like writing fancy pretty sentences right now, but i can come back tomorrow and see the quick idea i jotted down on what i was thinking of doing next and that gives me a good jumping-off point

it helps to have external accountability!!!! write with a friend holding each other to a certain time period of Working on it, or just open a sprint site that has a global sprint bc then u can see other ppl working and it feels like ur racing them. body doubling with adhd helps with this too, if u go to a cafe/library and see others working it keeps u focused (like im not gonna open youtube and start watching some stupid shit with others able to see over my shoulder, im gonna Open My Doc)

this last point is only applicable if u have a stimulants prescription for adhd (or buy it somewhere i guess lol) but i definitely am 20-1000x more productive when i take my meds. the hyperfocus is way easier to kick into. sometimes when i pop my silly lil pill i can write like 4-7k average in a 3 hour sitting

Never give up........ also helps i think to pay attention to what conditions work for u and replicate them, like where u write best!! last summer i got one of them fancy clicky raised key keyboards + a riser for my laptop and that made typing fun, ill probably return to it eventually i just have it packed away atm

i basically don't go outside anymore and while it is partly bc of being disabled it's also in large part bc of the type of specific racism i face every time i go out, it's enough that doctors c my name and say that they're not even going 2 try 2 pronounce it and ask if i speak english but it's also not enough that they don't try 2 right "white" on all of my medical forms

it's just a constant cycle of white ppl being racist and then saying "but ur skin is pale so u can't b poc therefore im not being racist" or even going 1 step further and saying that actually ur the racist 4 claiming 2 b poc when u hav pale skin, i rly need ppl 2 stop saying that "racism is discrimination based on skin colour" bc it just leads 2 shit like this and racism isn't always based on skin colour, that's a part of it sure but there's also discrimination based on facial features and other features that r often associated w specific ethnic minorities, there's discrimination based on hair texture, there's discrimination based on cultural signifiers such as names and clothes from other cultures

yeah same here, honestly i hadn't even heard of the term "person with a poly substance use disorder" but now i have i dunno,,, i don't like it? it feels like trying to isolate the fact that i hav addiction problems w/out acknowledging that addiction problems r a mental health issue, like,,, in my case i have BPD, ASPD and cPTSD any1 who knows anything abt those things will know that it's no surprise that when u put them all 2gether u get some1 who's rly susceptible 2 addiction

separation of the action from the mentality that lead 2 that action and focus on only the action doesn't feel accurate 2 my experiences, if anything it feels somewhat demonising given the current stigma around the action of substance use especially in a disordered way, not 2 mention it doesn't take into account the 5d chess u sometimes hav 2 do when it comes 2 things like medicine and harm reduction

for example;

i've been addicted 2 2nd hand smoke since i was 7, bc of the way in which ppl talk abt addiction and smoking tho i didn't think it "counted" bc i hav never tried a cigarette, despite this, ever since i was 7 i wanted 2 try a cigarette and would consistently hav 2 fight the urge 2 try 1, it was slightly easier as a kid since i just wasn't allowed 2 but that urge only became more present once i was an adult and knew i could just walk into any corner shop and buy cigarettes, it's only this year that i talked 2 my boyfriend abt this and found out that yeah that still counts as addiction, which i hadn't considered until after i quit alcohol and had a better idea of how withdrawal symptoms felt, this was the year i brought this up because due 2 personal stuff happening in my life my mental health had taken a plummet and i was at the point where i knew if i didn't intervene then i would end up buying myself some cigarettes, something that could be more life threatening for me than it is 4 most due 2 my asthma, i talked 2 my boyfriend about it and we both agreed that the path of least harm was getting me a vape with a nic-free e-liquid, in my case CBD since i already use it 4 pain reduction in gummy form 4 my chronic pain, i made it very clear 2 my boyfriend during this conversation that if we did get me a vape it would likely work but it would b bc i would get addicted 2 using my vape instead, still we both agreed that it would be 4 the best in terms of harm reduction, he helped me find a safe e-liquid that was nic free CBD and natural flavourings and yeah i got addicted but that was the plan and it worked, i don't wanna try cigarettes anymore

i ACTIVELY CHOSE 2 become addicted 2 vaping despite having never smoked a cigarette bc i knew i was at a point where it was either becoming addicted 2 vaping 2 try 2 override my 2nd hand smoke addiction or trying a cigarette 4 the 1st time, despite what a lot of ppl like 2 think willpower doesn't work 4 every1 and some of us know our willpower isn't reliable so we try 2 put smth else in place 2 act as a more sturdy barrier between us and the thing we know will fuck up our health and i feel like that's a struggle that most ppl don't understand abt addicts, i don't want 2 get better from my vaping addiction bc it's the only thing between me and cigarettes and becoming addicted 2 vaping was a strategic decision that i made 4 the sake of harm reduction

idk im rambling at this point but i feel like a lot of ppl don't get the 4d chess we hav 2 sometimes 2 when it comes 2 stuff like "yeah if i do this im gonna get addicted but is this gonna b a net positive?" like there's even medicines that r highly addictive, idk i feel like it's a side of being an addict that isn't rly talked abt outside of our own community that should b talked abt more

idk how much of this made sense since im typing this up early in the morning but i hope at least some of it made sense lol

i'm not just a person with poly substance use disorder; i am an addict. for me, person first language doesn't describe the depth of addictive personality. i am fundamentally a person who's susceptible to unhealthy drug use - calling myself an addict reminds me of that. it bares my health issues front and center. i think that's why there's so much power in the "Hi, my name is _ and I'm an addict." when you confront who you are like that, it's not only brave, but keeps you on your feet. it's an undeniable expression of everything that led you to addiction.

it's very similar to why some people say they're autistic instead of a person with autism. there are so many traits and struggles that go into it - there's good and bad and neutral. addicts aren't just impulsive, obsessive, and desperate. we're also passionate, driven, and dedicated. even if that's to drugs a lot of the time, even if we get selfish... that passion, drive, and dedication can help us and others; especially in harm reduction, recovery, and community building.

we are neurodivergent. we do have a stake in embracing who we are, our struggles, in a way that empowers us. and calling ourselves addicts, taking away the stigma of the term - as autistic people do - is good. it's not for everyone of course, it's okay to use person first language for any neurodivergency. but it works for some and that deserves support.

and before anyone yells at me: i am autistic. i know what i'm talking about - my experience, and the experience of those similar to me. if this post doesn't resonate with you, that's fine, but it's not my problem. it shouldn't be a problem at all, actually. embrace similarities and differences. that's key to disability liberation.

about Mailin. I get your point but Druck actually starts to hint at the reasons behind her behavior. and I think most of her actions are actually genuine. Like the way she runs the shop. her idea is great, and also local and I love this because it’s relatable for young activists in Berlin/Germany.

i mean i think that's good! i'm glad that they're going a bit deeper into it n it's not just superficial. however to me it's kind of a.. lose-lose situation bc the problems i talked abt in my post only cover the option of the writers wanting it to be performative

but if the writers want it to be genuine there are unfortunately other problems such as the fact that mailin is very literally the most privileged girl from like the entire cast i'm pretty sure. n she's seemingly the only one who cares this much abt social issues. there's ofc nothing wrong w privileged ppl caring n being activists actually the whole point is that they Should also care but when the fictional person w most privilege is a vocal activist while the actual marginalized characters who r affected by those issues just look around awkwardly when she goes on a rant... it kinda becomes a problem if the only genuine activist is the rich cishet white girl. especially when so far the only time she was called out for her privileged position, she was immediately coddled afterwards so she wouldn't feel bad or have to challenge any of her views.

another thing is even if the writers want it to be genuine a lot of it actually would be performative in real life... like as i said in the post i don't rly want them to go for the performative plot line canonically but also is it any better to say that it's genuine? is it a good thing that they show us mailin ranting abt how "lame" and "old-fashioned" marriage is while she sits next to multiple ppl who weren't legally allowed to get married just five years ago n who nowadays can only get married thanks to real genuine activists? is it a good thing to portray mailin as a genuine activist when she's shaming ppl for eating? is that the type of role model young german teens should have for an actual activist? and i'm not trying to be sarcastic i'm just trying to point out the problems that this direction of the plot line would bring up as well since i didn't talk abt that in my other post.

so that's kinda what i meant by having no patience for the activism plot line n by the last paragraph abt how the season shouldn't be abt both mailin And activism. it's cool if they're gonna discuss it more but i just can't find that many positive sides to either potential direction for the plot (performative or genuine) so i'd rather they made the season abt somebody else if they wanted to discuss Any kind of activism, genuine or not.

never did joosung ever think that as an idol, he’d be asked to design merchandise for himself. asked for opinions on what phrases, pictures, or items might resonate with their fans, sure, just like anything else they were vaguely asked for their opinion on.

designing something of his own felt too close to the discomfort he’d felt when he was pushed as some... fashion guy, a while back. however, this couldn’t be blamed as a him issue, considering he’d heard everyone in the company was being asked to do the same thing. all he knew for quite a while was that clothing would be off limits. sung didn’t want to fall back into the same marketing as fashion focused, and even if he did try, the only clothing items he’d personally be interested in wouldn’t be all that marketable against his, and quantum’s, image.

he’d felt stumped, when every time he tried to think on the subject, he found his mind wandering to subjects that felt more pertinent. schedules, relationships, script writing, song writing. staying on the subject long enough to give it a proper go never came to closure.

what got him there, eventually, was in conversation. a compliment on his apeach phone case, and the subsequent discussion where sung, in a not too common scenario, was able to gush about his love for this, in truth, useless character. vaguely, it’d sparked a sliver of a thought, that came to mind the next time he attempted to think about the design process. he wished he could make something that could have that strong of an effect.

who was to say sung couldn’t make a character out of this? he hadn’t tried creating characters of his own since he was a child, but with as much of a literature fanatic as him, it should be doable, right?

although, considering this was supposed to be merchandise in some way, it should be a reflection of him, and when it came to what could be personified, immediately he jumped to animals. the eternal debate amongst his fans, was he more of a bear or a puppy? sung did at times feel a little slighted that cat was nearly never in the picture, but on a deeper level, he understood.

deciding between a bear or a puppy might give himself too much of a stake in the debate, but... he could play into it, if it was both. that would make the character more unique than the millions of bears and puppies out there.

so the character wears the suit bc theyre rly friendly n lonely but no one wanted to hang w them bc theyre a Big Scary Bear n most ppl love dogs so it makes them less threatening

they had a backstory of trying different suits but nothing working and/or feeling right until the puppy suit

their fave food is a peanut butter n honey sandwich

they explain hibernation to their friends by saying theyre visiting their family abroad

their life goal is to have 100 friends

so this one i think would have been his second pitch, and he’d feel more confident n stable in the headphones pitch, despite the idea coming first (i imagine the headphones to come from the connection to bears)

this is more pitching a concept of sales rather than explicit research suggesting sales would likely be good

he’d have made a powerpoint for this one too bc ofc he would, and he’d end up mentioning his initial concept around apeach but in a more general sense of line friends/kkt friends

and he’d put effort into selling the concept of a brand new character being marketable Just for being cute. it’s a harder sell because this is meant to be something branded, tied to the self, and,,, bc this is an area sung always felt he struggled with most

he knows the textbook knowledge of how to be professional, marketing techniques, blah blah, but when it comes to knowingly using his charisma to win someone over, he gets in his head and it feels like lying. he’s just not good at closing the sale

his main tactic here would be presenting the idea that this one stupid keychain could become a big piece of media that they can get a lot of coin from. it’s just a gamble, and he knows that, even if he wouldnt mention it (bc again, if he did, he’d feel like he was lying to try to reassure them that he Absolutely knows it would turn out well. he’s like no this could b a total flop i dont actually kno anything)

so yeah he’s selling the big picture of it starts with a keychain then its a feature film kind of thing

and because it’s what he feels he knows how to do, he’d try to throw in statistics wherever he can, but they’d b v supplementary there. he’d likely walk out of the meeting disappointed w himself (thanks childhood)

man i also forgot i finished katla the other night and it was.... odd. good, but a bit confusing? idk here r some Thoughts.

like there were a couple of "copies" who vanished like gunhild's, who really did not seem like the type to voluntarily do so in any way, but it was established the other copies (like... mikael and asa) died. so. they dont just... vanish once they serve their purpose. they have to die like an actual person or just keep hanging out i guess! so what happened to gunhild's?

also i cant say i LIKED what happened with grima and her copy but i do like the unsettling feeling it left me with and the questions it raised.

the pacing throughout did get a bit slow at a point but like, eh it's fine.

im not sure how i feel abt the Way copies are created. i liked my initial theory about the earth making imprints and then spitting out the copy during times of volcanic activity, but it does allow for more meaningful stuff to happen when the copies are like... born from people's thoughts. either way it creates an incomplete person because with my idea, the imprint only contains the thoughts and memories of around the time the imprint was made? whereas with the thought example, there's an emphasis on what traits the person whose thoughts created it remember most, or maybe even subconsciously believe (like mikael's copy being sociopathic basically.)

i like the lessons that a lot of them taught - the purpose they served. i think it felt natural enough... like obviously if a person has unresolved business with another person, theyre going to be thinking of them in a way so that their copy's manifestation WILl inevitably make them realize Something. it did get very ??? tho once there were like more than 2 copies running around i was like wow this is. a bit too much at once. but it worked out.

i really liked rakel. i also rly liked gunhild! both versions. thor was.... actually very likable as well. i vibed with him just having cats and not naming them bc theyre their own masters jlkf;slkjdf.

i think grima was too... i dont wanna say boring or bland? i think her meds made her very numb, and i think her obsession with finding asa dulled everything else about her which is why her husband was so unhappy. it just felt like there wasnt much depth to her i guess? i know there was, but i didnt connect to any of it.

uhhh let's seeee the meteorite thing! i think that was a rly cool way to explain all this. like, we know so little abt alien stuff it fits in fine. i wish we'd gotten more of all that explored tho.

tHE ENDING with all the bodies walking thru the smoke.... good shit. i would very much like a season 2. i think there was also a lot abt the volcano becoming increasingly more dangerous and lots of deadly possibilities so i hooooope those come back up in season 2 if there is one, or maybe it can just stay as a way to get ppl moving around the area for plot reasons who knows.

the visual of the ending reminded me a lot of the visual from the show equinox with people emerging thru smoke/fog/whatever, but with that being like.... a . kinda happy thing i guess? katla's is Foreboding.

OH LASTLY..... it mightve been a translatin thing! it probably was a translation thing! but! when the nurse was like "you know what i feel for you is real" to asa WHAT WAS SHE TALKING ABOUT. I THINK it was more like, the nurse being a second mom to her after her mom died maybe? OR it couldve been meant romantically. we didnt get enough of their relationship to be able to tell - just that asa has a habit of using the nurse as a last resort and the nurse cares about her so much that it just. hurts. does it hurt to see her in a bad state? to have the pressure of being the only one she has, or at least in asa's mind? to be "used" by asa bc asa knows she loves her in whatever way? man idk but it was a nice lil way to add depth no matter what.

I think kabu and minatos relationship  is as good as it is because theres clearly a lot of mutual love and respect between them even when they don’t understand each other and thats why minato still runs after him when he hears kabu going suicide mission lets go baby. I think its interesting that minato was like ready to lie down and accept getting mass scrapped until he hears kabu go im about to be hilarious and hes like actually living and staying alive sounds great actually forget what i said about it being over.   you are so right about kabu and trust and natsume. I will always cherish episode 5 where kabu gives this big rousing speech about how natsume inspired him and saved his life and minatos there like ..who? ..what?? I think they may not be used to hiding things from each other. Also I think them drifting apart mirrors natsume and feis drifting apart tho I think while feis the instigator on that side kabus more on his side and minato like natsume is like wondering what in da world is going on. I think someone else wrote about this better than I can.

I do think minato does know kabus severely depressed because theres this line in ep 4 where he puts his hand on kabu and says like you’ve toiled enough at that awful job. and also in episode 11 when he and kabu talk and kabu says he was in a similar place as minato now in that he was waiting every day to be scrapped minato has no reaction until kabu says but that bug saved me. I think he knows kabus very depressed but he does not know how to address it cuz the system never gives either of them the tools or options for it. Though also I feel the system discourages meaningful relationships between the cyborgs so I think what minato and kabu have is likely pretty rare. Kabu donetello and turkey also fought together for a long time but turkey turns on donetello in a second even tho they fought together, he was his number two, and they were in prison together, and were pretty much all they got and donetello kills him in turn. I also think minato probably knew because he’s empathetic. Like I’m not sure about compassion but he’s very good at understanding where other ppl are and how to meet them in the middle so both parties get something they want. That’s how he got all the gamers to collect the old deca dence parts. Not by cashing in on ppl doing the right thing but by framing it as the final mission. He gets his lgbt community center coworkers for fight with him one last time by appealing to their sense of duty. He got the system to put kabu in jail instead of getting scrapped when Mikey got scrapped for a lesser offense. The list goes on. A tangent but I think the fact he acknowledges the living conditions of the humans are gonna get worse if nothing’s done even tho he’s apathetic at best towards them shows even when the system tries to mold the cyborgs into the roles it wants, sometimes the traits they have just keep on going despite themselves. I’m gonna stop myself before I go into jill and this theme but I’m gonna talk about it someday. So I think its more likely than not he knew but he didn’t know how to navigate around it also because it’s heavily implied he’s going thru the same thing and I think kabu might genuinely have no idea Bc kabu lacks empathy but his heart... is huge. When he hears minato express his feelings of not knowing what he wants he instantly tries to reach out and explain minatos not alone in what he feels. This is why they’re good foils. while kabu moves past where he was in the start where he states he does not intend to oppose the system and his compliance while also trying to do the bare minimum drives him to suicide, and finds the willpower and a reason to live and rebel against the system through his connection to other people (first natsume , he hangs out w kurenai sometimes too, and then with the jail robots). Meanwhile minato whos stuck in his literal ivory tower (it’s a Metaphor) never makes any of these connections. It’s the irony of kabu working at a armor repair job giving him some ability to connect w others vs minatos higher position isolating him from everyone else. I think kabu living amongst the ppl he harmed drove him to give up on life quicker, while minato being far apart shielded him from rlly having to see the effects of his actions I think he was headed a lil slower in the same direction. I think we’re led to believe minatos okay where he is but I think towards the end it’s clear minato has spent most of the series also in a bad place. I think he views things very similarly to kabu in that he wants to use what power he does have to protect the ppl he cares about similar to how initially kabu tried to just convince natsume to quit several times and he was like whatever at the rest of the humans who are natsumes comrades dying but he chooses to put it all on the line and try for some systemic change when he sees natsumes determination to fight. Also I think minato holds very little loyalty to the system cuz he doesn’t only like breaks 1000 rules for kabu (the hypocrisy) but he also looks the other way a lot. For example, when he overheard the top rankers talk about limiters he’s like I’ll pretend I don’t hear it also turn on private mode next time and he doesn’t berate them for considering cheating. Also donetello has been using an illegal avatar to climb to S rank again (isn’t it interesting that even after the ranked system is abolished something similar took its place). And his avatar looks the same as it did when minato worked with the guy. There’s probably like not that many ppl in s rank. And he calls himself donetello. Minato knows he’s supposed to be in jail but does he tell anyone? He’s like well.. that looks like someone else’s problem if they notice *goes and vapes* it’s so funny how little minato cares but it’s also not funny Bc some of minatos cruelest actions and things he’s complicit in are born not outta malice but apathy to everything. I think it shows (tangent number 4?) how the systems use of excessive force is counter productive cuz neither minato nor kabu are willing to report anything to disrupt the order Bc neither of them think the level of punishment is warranted. I also think that minato is probably the first person kabu really opens up to about why on a personal level he feels the system needs to be destroyed after Ep 7 is really interesting. It really speaks to how deep their [mutual and not platonic relationship I don’t know how to label ] is. I also think that he admits to minato that he envies human is rlly interesting and would like to hear what u have to think! I think it’s interesting that what really sets minato off is kabu saying he wants to choose for himself and also wants other cyborgs to have that freedom and I think it’s one of the few times we see minato get genuinely angry and have it not stem from worry. Tangent 5 I’m really extrapolating here but I think it’s very likely given how high up minato is that he likely knows of several cyborgs that rebelled against the system for similar reasons as kabu and knows how it ends and I think it probably feeds into his defeatist attitude. I think his role in the system must really kill whatever grasp of whatever minato has cuz he constantly has to act like it’s almost the end of the world and he’s strapped for resources all the time for like decades and decades of having to fake that type of desperation to entertain ur player base and cuz ur also on tv to entertain the general populace to distract them from their soul sucking jobs. I think that’s gotta mess with his perception of himself and also his ability to see that struggle as real and genuine. I think that’s also gotta be hard cuz he seems like out of his whole fuck we r under attack persona he seems like he’s a lil closed off but generally chill and somewhat upbeat to ppl who know him and he just wants to be isabella from animal crossing. I got really off track here. I think what really gets me is their relationship is built on knowing each other so well and so long , and how it’s managed to survive and persist through all this tragedy. They really mutually respect and love each other and that’s why kabu let’s minato walk away from his revolution even tho it compromises everything he works for. It’s why minato ultimently accepts kabus willingness to die for a tanker even tho he really doesn’t get it at all and it means it’s goodbye forever. But it’s still not enough to save either of them. Minato can’t save kabu from trying to passively starving himself to death and I’m not sure if kabu even knows where minato is at mentally. Sometimes no matter how close u are to someone there r things u miss and things u can’t help each other with. Even tho the two resolve to fight and then die together cuz this seems like the best choice Bc the system they were born into offers no alternatives, the deca dence doesn’t even activate without the help of other ppl. I think it shows one relationship cant support all that weight. In the end it is through their bonds with other ppl that gets them to an ending where they both survive when they decided alone their only option is death. Also u are so right about the other animals existing I totally forgot ty I cannot believe I forgot about the scorpion which calls to natsumes hairstyle which is a visual gag on how natsumes a bug and how like a scorpion, although unassuming, and fucking kill u, just like how her trying to get her boss to open up eventually leads to the whole thing toppling down. I also have a lot of thoughts about natsume but I’m still thinking of them and thinking hard Bc sometimes she becomes kabus inspiration Pinterest board and I don’t like that. their first date 🕯i think i made a joke tweet a long time ago that theyd probably have a date in a junkyard or something as their first date BUT tbh. i think they probably did go to like…a bar for their first date!! swoop drinks more than he can handle to impress grimlock and even tho grim tells him to lay off he thinks its cute hes trying so hard (grimlock pays for Everything) 

their first kiss 💋THINKING ABT THIS MAKES ME EMBARRASSED OH MY GOD………..ok swoop initiates the kiss impulsively, it probably happened on one of their first dates, and he didnt think much of it. grimlock thought abt it a lot longer than he expected to (it all worked out in the end)  

an inside joke they share 🃏they make fun of slug getting mistaken for a heterosexual by every lesbian he knows…………i think swoop would probably bring up anything dumb grimlock has said too but u see grimlock loves him so he just laughs it off 

a recurring fight they get into ⛈they dont rly fight fight because max dinos 3 proves swoop can only stay mad at grimlock for all of 5 whole minutes. i think they fight over grimlock getting too overprotective when they were starting out but theyve been together long enough to like. be more mature abt handling it!! 

their love languages 💞i think grimlocks highest one would be touch!! idk why im attached to affectionate touchy grim but i feel like he just likes to hold his partners….whether its straight up cuddling or just a casual hand slung over a shoulder. swoop is more of a quality time kind of guy!! i dont think they rly do gift giving often BUT theyre do a lot of nice stuff for each other instead. grimlock also rly isnt into like. verbal affection as much as swoop is. swoop is verbal abt his affection but isnt big on being complimented himself. 

how they feel about pda 🌹swoop LOVES pda because hes dramatic and likes to show off sometimes. he needs everyone to know he loves his wonderful bf and show him off!! grimlock isnt so big on the public part but he indulges swoop anyway + he likes being affectionate - its a win/win for him either way

their favorite things about one another ⭐️grimlock clearly has a type for airheads hgkdsf but for real i think he does love how cheerful and upbeat swoop is!! he likes how impulsive swoop can be too because it means he cant predict what he’ll do next….so he’ll find something new to love when he doesnt expect it 😳 (maybe im being a bit mushy here. whos going to stop me? no one thats what) i dont think swoop ever rly put thought into his favourite trait of grimlock or hed just give a superficial answer about it. but his favourite part about grimlock is his more compassionate side + i think he also likes how grim doesnt. particularly care what other people think of him! he thinks grimlock can be rly sweet and is maybe a little proud of the fact hes one of the few ppl that actually get the Whole Grim Experience 

how they would adapt for one another 🍂swoop has to slow down a lil bit for grimlock! he’s naturally high energy which can be overwhelming for grim, so when swoop realises this he starts to make sure that grim can keep up w/ him. he also does try to take things more seriously cause i feel like hed view his whole thing w/ grim as being casual up until a certain point. grimlock on the other hand definitely tries to be more attentive to swoop. grim is naturally just. not rly receptive to people but when he decides someone is worth the effort he goes ALL IN. hes not the best listener or anything but he does try his best to be interested! even if its for little things.

their favorite celebrations 🎃dinobots collective anniversary because they all decided to just lump up their anniversaries into one nice day + slash’s birthday !!!!!!! i think swoop would also like. get jokingly into knowing different species celebration days but he doesnt rly care much for the meanings

their domestic rituals 💆what intricate rituals do they do………………………i mean they WERE separated for most of post war so they dont rly have much material to go off of. i guess fighting is a good bonding activity w/ ur partner so you end up resting together at night………they definitely cuddle Quite A Bit, swoop and grim also allocate a specific amt of time to swoop gossiping abt something or laughing at other people…im bad at this part OOP 

their family and friends’ opinion ⚖️in an ideal world the dinobots (minus lesbian icon strafe and their daughter slash) r all dating each other in one big polyamorous marriage anyway….the scavengers are very happy that grim’s happy even if krok keeps asking them to stop making out on top of his fridge when he wants engex. misfire keeps planning really weird elaborate date plans which both appreciate even if grim isnt rly sold on shoot shoot bang bang as a date night concept. i keep thinking of a dumb au where the other dynos live and slug is kind mmm because he and swoop are dating and he thinks therell be drama but the spoiler here is that they all have 2 hands so swoopsluglock ends up being the REAL endgame
