Potato Leek Soup

A classic French soup that combines the earthy flavors of potatoes and leeks. Creamy, hearty, and naturally gluten-free, this soup is perfect for a cozy meal.

Ingredients: 3 large leeks, thinly sliced. 4 potatoes, peeled and diced. 1 onion, chopped. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth. 1 cup milk. 2 tablespoons butter. Salt and pepper to taste. Fresh chives for garnish.

Instructions: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add leeks, onions, and garlic. Saut until softened. Add diced potatoes and broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender. Using an immersion blender, blend the soup until smooth. Alternatively, transfer to a blender in batches. Stir in milk and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes. Serve hot, garnished with fresh chives.

1. Injuries!!!! I like how everyone can relate to pain but it’s also so diverse and can interrupt anything. “What does (injury) feel like Reddit” my favorite thing to google. and I love writing characters throwing up as may be obvious to some.

2. Characters who don’t think they have the power to hurt someone hurting someone. I really like writing kids partly because of this.

3. i like when something emotionally significant just happened or is happening but the characters are in a crowd or busy and have to kind of act normal

4. annoying jobs. lol

5. open secrets. :)

last read: i don't usually read multiple books at once but i most recently finished the price of salt by patricia highsmith and unmasked by the marquess by cat sebastian on the same day bc the latter was tessa's and my roadtrip audiobook. loved highsmith's writing way more than i was expecting to! unmasked was not my fave cat sebastian and i did have some thoughts but it was fun overall as per usual :-)

current read: briefly a delicious life by nell stevens bc tessa just finished it and said if i wanna read it i'd better be quick bc it's incredibly overdue at the library. women in historical fiction dressing like men the overall theme for 2023 books so far

next read: wide sargasso sea by jean rhys which i requested at the library bc it was an nyt crossword answer a few weeks ago and it felt like the right thing to do.
