i just realized part of my absolute discomfort w the five being given a relationship in s4 is that the fans of it remind me of every person who spoke out against adult men sexualizing emma watson as a child but defended or participated in doing the same thing to daniel radcliffe.

like it doesnt matter if you are saying the relstionship is good writing, it was still the writers waiting for aidan to be old enough to kiss a woman in her 30s. Beyond that, they used Ritu, they did not actually care about the idea of there being a compelling relationship between the two. They just desperately needed an older woman five would actually go for because they recognized that five wouldnt just date around.

and every person I have seen defending it are women who are currently the same age as the people defending the sexualization of young daniel radcliffe were. everyone ive seen has been old enough to be in Ritu's shoes in the relationship, and that worries me. You shouldnt be able to write off someone your age in a relationship w someone that young. Like kissing a 19 yr old in your 30s is predatory (in their case the writers were the predatory aspect). even if you have good suspensions of disbelief, thats still someone in his mid 20s with a 40 year old. as someone in their mid 20s, it would be super gross if a 40 year old approached me for a relationship. and as the older and more mature party, it is on the 40 year old to turn down that relationship if approached by someone so much younger.

anyone who argues that fives mind is much older, theyve proven that he did not actually spend that time growing up and learning proper socialization at all. Also i would like to point to how gross it is when its written that its fine that someone is dating a 12 year old cause theyre an immortal and have been around thousands of years.

physical age matters more than mental age and saying shit like 'theyre so much more mature then their age implies' is literally a tactic groomers use so by normalizing it for media, you are showing children that its a fine defense against such relationship gaps.

also ive seen people say that the cheating is the main issue with it and ??? thats the one issue that is addressed. like that is the one thing that they didnt play for laughs, they actually had contention about it.

I simply do not believe that Hia was actually playing around his Real's heart strings, because look at this. Who has their eyes closed in anticipation, just waiting for it to happen to him, and who has their eyes open, laser focused on someone's else's lips, like they never thought they would get the chance?

Especially since he was all for it when they were making out and only got shaken when Real mentioned that no one else had been in that situation.

I think part of me expected this burnout would last a long time, but it’s drawing close to a year now. I have a strong reason to suspect medications are prolonging it. Granted: I have no intention of stopping medication, but I suspect I may need to make some changes. It’s been nice not to feel burning rage/crippling despair/panic most of the time, but I also miss being able to actually... act on things! Start things! Feel some semblance of motivation, as fleeting as it is. Mostly my reaction to prompts of any kind are “nah, don’t wanna” or “so what?” which isn’t terribly conducive to anything more than day to day life. (Y’all, I can’t even reliably plan my vacation and that’s pretty terrible.)

I’m saying this in part as a sort of explanation as to why I’ve been so slow to respond to anything, or post any art, or even re-open commissions this past year. I just... generally can’t make myself do anything that isn’t a part of my daily maintenance routine. Knowing that making art (even personal art) takes 3x times as long to complete is a standout reason I’ve been refusing to reopen commissions especially, since I’d be unwilling to make clients wait more than a few months for even something as simple as a sketch. People were patient enough with “Old Me,” I don’t think most would hold out for “New Me.”

Thankfully I’m speaking to my doctor tomorrow regarding my experiences on the current medication, and maybe I can find something that works a little better. I feel like I’ve been pretty fortunate so far, all things considered, and my side effects have been fairly mild. (Though I have suspicions it’s also thinning out my hair something fierce... probably time for supplements for that issue!)

Hopefully I’ll figure it out sooner rather than later? Either way, I’m learning to accept things as they are these days.
