I love how much food variety there is available in America when you consider all the ethnicities bringing their own food over. Like... It's insane.
I can get a simple deli sandwich or German-inspired hamburgers and fries or southern soul food like Fried chicken or country-fried steak and mac n cheese or mash potatoe. We can have breakfast pancake and with bacon and egg or biscuit and gravy, but I can also get Jewish Bagels or French or Danish pastries or Czech kolaches filled with meat or sweets.
Then if I want something spicy I can order Mexican food (typically Tex Mex but still good), or Indian samosas and curries, or maybe I want try Korean bulgogi and BBQ Chicken and then burn my mouth and regret my life choices trying tteokbokki, or Japenese sushi and ramen and boba tea, theres also Thai and Vietnamese, or perhaps I'll just order Chinese-American takeout. Or if I don't want Lo Mein, but I still want noodles, I can get (or cook) varying levels of "authentic" Italian pasta quite easily.
And if we can't decide: we probably end up just getting pizza.
Today alone I had a kolache for Breakfast, a Korean hotdog (like a hotdog stuffed inside a mozzarella stick, wrapped in a corn dog, and fried... amazing) with a fruity popping Boba slushie thing for lunch, and now for dinner I might just have a bowl of Cereal or a frozen pork egg roll or a pb&j or a yogurt and some fruit.
Like this is just a post to appreciate how many choices we have...
So. Many.
Kings of old will weep.
And yet sometimes it seems like our choices consist of berger or nuggies or salad. Chocolat or Vanilla extract.
But the while wide world is open to us.
And yet people still willingly choose to eat cream cheese and put pineappl on pizza 🤢
#food#food appreciation#i say this as a picky eater... there are so many foods I haven't tried and foods i probably never will but i still have so many choices!

Origin of kashmiri pandit cuisine
The cuisine of Kashmiri Pandits, an ethnic group native to the Kashmir Valley in India, has a rich and diverse culinary heritage deeply rooted in the region's history, geography, and cultural influences. Kashmiri Pandit cuisine, also known as Kashmiri Brahmin cuisine, is characterized by its unique flavors, delicate spices, and traditional cooking methods.
The origin of Kashmiri Pandit cuisine can be traced back to ancient times when the Kashmir Valley was a melting pot of various cultures, including Persian, Central Asian, and Indian influences. Over the centuries, these diverse culinary traditions blended with local ingredients and cooking techniques, giving rise to the distinct cuisine of the Kashmiri Pandits.
Some key factors that have shaped Kashmiri Pandit cuisine include:
Geographical Influence: The Kashmir Valley is blessed with fertile land, abundant water resources, and a temperate climate, which allows for the cultivation of a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and grains. This abundance of fresh produce has had a significant impact on the ingredients used in Kashmiri Pandit cuisine.
Historical Influences: Kashmir has a rich history of trade and cultural exchange with neighboring regions, including Persia (modern-day Iran), Central Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. These interactions brought new ingredients, spices, and cooking techniques to the region, which were incorporated into Kashmiri Pandit cuisine over time.
Religious and Cultural Practices: Kashmiri Pandits follow Hinduism, and their dietary habits are influenced by religious beliefs and cultural practices. As a result, Kashmiri Pandit cuisine is predominantly vegetarian, with a focus on dairy products, grains, vegetables, and legumes. However, some non-vegetarian dishes are also part of the cuisine, although they are less common and usually reserved for special occasions.
Use of Spices and Flavorings: Kashmiri Pandit cuisine is known for its subtle yet complex flavors, achieved through the use of a variety of spices and flavorings such as saffron, fennel seeds, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. These spices are used judiciously to enhance the natural flavors of the ingredients without overpowering them.
Traditional Cooking Methods: Traditional Kashmiri Pandit dishes are often cooked slowly over a low flame to allow the flavors to develop gradually. Dum cooking, where food is sealed in a pot with dough and slow-cooked over a low flame, is a common technique used to prepare dishes like dum aloo and dum biryani.
Some popular dishes in Kashmiri Pandit cuisine include Rogan Josh (a slow-cooked lamb curry), Dum Aloo (potatoes cooked in a spicy yogurt gravy), Haak Saag (collard greens cooked with mustard oil and spices), and Modur Pulav (sweet saffron-infused rice). These dishes reflect the rich culinary heritage and cultural diversity of the Kashmiri Pandit community.

I have soft food ideas! Tw British foods, I'll do my best to think of the alternatives
Sweet:
Jelly/jello - just suck it through your teeth and swallow, amazing stuff. Can eat lots since most are low calorie or even zero sugar.
Angel delight/mousse/pudding, semolina, creme caramels, custards, rice pudding - no chewing required, light and bubbly.
Ice cream, gelatos and sorbet, ice lollies, milkshakes, slushies etc - amazing but might not be appropriate if you have sensitive mouth/teeth
Juices and smoothies - yummy but avoid citrus if you've recently had oral surgery!
Porridge/oatmeal, baked oats, overnight oats, chia seed pudding etc - the super fine versions (readybrek) of porridge are great and don't need any chewing at all. If too hot, wait too cool or add a splash of milk. I like a spoonful of Nutella in to make chocolatey.
Yogurt - amazing, cool and refreshing. Avoid the fun yogurts with extra bits like granola or crunchy inclusions since they'll need chewing. Also consider soft cheeses/no base cheesecakes
Soft fruits - again avoid citrus, try cook it or mash it or something just to make it softer. Tinned fruit is always super soft. Peaches and ice cream is such an elite combo. Maybe applesauce?
Savory
Soups, broths and maybe stews - super tender veggies, overcooked or super soft noodles and shredded meats will fine for a few days and should be soft but hearty enough. If not, puree or blend. Maybe soak some bread in!
Lentils - great at absorbing liquid and become nice and aoft
Mashed potatoes - love love love these, cheesy or garlicky or covered in gravy, just so wow. Might manage a baked potato without the skin and then it's just a vessel for good stuff
Rice, risotto - plain or topped with egg or some soft fish (tinned is easy). Risotto is great because you can add yummy stuff to it
FINELY ground meat - make a Bolognese and make sure your meat is ground finely. Make a curry with finely cut soft/pureed veggies. Make a chili. Once you feel a bit braver, sloppy Joes or something
Dips - guac or hummus or whatever, a spoon will do instead of veggies/chips etc
Cottage/shepherds/fisherman's pie - soft fish or meat in a sauce covered in mashed potato and baked in the oven. No teeth needed, but a hearty real meal.
Cauliflower cheese - parboil the cauliflower like my gran does (nuke it) and then cover in cheesesauce and bake it.
Omelettes - these might be touch and go but could satisfy you enough that you wont miss scrambled eggs and toast
Pastina - cute little pasta shapes! Do all sorts with it but jar of generic pasta sauce works in a pinch.
I'm sure there's plenty of local cuisine and regional foods that are soft too that I have no idea about.
For anyone who needs it then, lol. Thanks anon.

WIP(Chalice Food)
Food and the culture of food in fantasy worlds is a very neglected part of worldbuilding. Since starting Chalice as a worldbuilding project, I’ve taken food as way to give more personality and life to the cultures of these fantastic lands.
Some Quick Notes
Fesmargo feels like a very bisque and decedent culinary center.
Medy isn’t overly original or inspired on its own, a lot of its ‘dishes’ descended from Yusador who assimilated culture after culture
Xarlgos is tough, but they lean towards an efficient and bloody meal
Black Bellia is variety and sea/water heavy
Anterro is without fail a bread and meat crazy place. Where pie comes to evolve
Tantimar has a climate unlike the rest of Chalice, and it shows in their dishes. Also have a spread of deserts and grasslands
Locheckle is forest heavy and has a taiga as a neighbor. Milk based alcohol for sure
Baslen live underground and have spider meat so yeah...

Pros to waking up early: getting to shit and then laying back down in bed 😂

Corn, veggies, potatoes, chicken fried steak w gravy, curry and rice 😋 and all of that will be better than going out to eat (expensive, makes me sick).
Other goals, one assignment, pre assessment. Go to the gym/walk. Just put the gym clothes on and go from there :) need to start taking vitamins again. Large emphasis on sleep, making the most out of my commute by honestly leaving early af. Go to the library and put things on hold. Audiobooks, podcasts. Gym! You have to put in effort to get effort back. Don't even do it for you, do it for him, take cute selfies at the gym, make yourself horny checking out the girls there idk 😂 and you'll have interesting things to say about your day!
8:33am: omg I just shit again and I didn't even start drinking water yet. This is why getting up early is gooood. Legit start acting like a really fit, cool old person and you will have a much happier life :)

Using high-quality chicken for your curry can elevate its taste, texture, and nutritional value. The best meat for curry should:
Retain Juiciness: Good quality meat helps retain moisture, giving a succulent taste.
Absorb Flavors: Ideal cuts of chicken allow the spices to permeate, enhancing the overall taste.
Have the Right Texture: Chicken should cook tender without falling apart, balancing perfectly with the curry's consistency.
Choosing the Best Meat for Homemade Chicken Curry in India
1. Fresh vs. Frozen Meat
Fresh Meat: Freshly sourced chicken is always the preferred option as it holds natural juices and absorbs flavors better. MEATHEROES offers freshly sourced chicken, perfect for homemade curry.
Frozen Meat: While convenient, frozen meat can sometimes lose texture and flavor. If you need to use frozen meat, opt for a trusted brand and make sure to thaw it properly before cooking.
2. Preferred Cuts for Chicken Curry
Whole Chicken with Bone-In: Bone-in pieces such as the leg and thigh are ideal for chicken curry. The bones add depth to the curry, enriching its flavor.
Chicken Thighs: Thigh pieces are popular for curries as they stay tender, even after prolonged cooking.
Boneless Cuts: For those who prefer boneless curry, chicken breast is a good option. However, it can cook quickly and become dry, so it’s essential to watch cooking time.
3. Organic and Free-Range Chicken
Organic Chicken: Organic meat is free from antibiotics and additives, making it a healthy choice. MEAT ensures organically sourced chicken options, perfect for home cooking.
Free-Range Chicken: Free-range chickens are allowed to roam freely, resulting in leaner and tastier meat that pairs exceptionally well with curries.
Types of Chicken Meat for Regional Chicken Curry Styles
North Indian Curries
For North Indian curries, such as butter chicken or Punjabi-style chicken curry, boneless breast pieces are often preferred for their smooth texture. However, for a richer flavor, using a mix of bone-in pieces with thighs works well.
South Indian Curries
South Indian curries like Chettinad chicken curry often use bone-in cuts, especially thighs and drumsticks, which enhance the bold flavors from coconut milk and spices. MEAT offers a range of bone-in cuts that make an ideal choice for these curries.
Eastern Indian Curries
In Bengali and Assamese curries, which often include potatoes, tender chicken thighs are an ideal choice. The juicy texture of thighs complements the light, aromatic gravies typical of Eastern India.
Tips for Cooking the Best Chicken Curry
1. Marinate for Extra Flavor
Marinating the chicken beforehand helps tenderize the meat and infuse it with spices. Use a mix of yogurt, ginger, garlic, and traditional Indian spices for best results.
2. Avoid Overcooking
Chicken, especially boneless cuts, can become tough if overcooked. Keep a close eye on cooking time and temperature to maintain tenderness.
3. Quality Over Quantity
When making curry, remember that quality meat like the options provided by MEAT can make a significant difference in taste. Fewer cuts of high-quality meat can outperform a larger quantity of mediocre meat.
