Meeting Again
Her voice is unmistakable. It rises above the loud music and even louder chatter of the party and somehow reaches his ears despite being nowhere near where she’s standing. Peter stands frozen, briefly as he listens, torn between convincing himself he imagined it and craning his head around in search of her face. As though heard by the universe, the crowd parts and he sees her.
Her hair is shorter than it used to be and styled differently from how he remembers. She laughs at something the guy she’s talking to says. It’s louder, more carefree than he remembers but still familiar. She’s still beautiful but more so, he thinks. Changed. She looks good, he thinks. Happy.
MJ turns her head ever so slightly and seems to meet his gaze. It takes Peter longer than it should to realize she is looking at him and he quickly averts his eyes by taking a long drink from his red plastic cup. He should probably leave. Considering how crowded the place is, it would be simple enough to slip away unnoticed. If Randy texts him later, he could just say he got tired and decided to go back to the apartment.
Still… what are the odds that after all these years, she would be at the same party? At this party?
Peter looks again only to see MJ lean in to whisper to the guy she’s talking to then begins to make her way over towards him.
“Hey,” she says. Her smile is dazzling. “You’re Peter, right? From Midtown Tech?”

Summary: The battle is ending as you finally have a sight of why Peter was so drawn to you. Can you rewrite the stars or will they remain unchanged forever?[series list]
You gasped looking up. A sandstorm picked up as broken off pieces of the structure got lifted up in the air. From your position on the ground, you could easily see the battle. All three Peter’s swinging on their web. Peter, your Peter was focused on Green Goblin. Peter two focusing on Lizard.
Peter three avoiding a bolt of electricity. They were so occupied they didn’t had eyes for what was happening behind them. Eyes widening you saw the broken off pieces fly towards Peter three. You ran out from your hiding position. – “Peter!” – you screamed loud, gaze upwards.
Peter three’s eyes widened hearing your voice. As if his spider tingle was tuned on finding your voice blindly. His immediate reaction was to look down to you. – “Peter!” – you screamed again pointing upwards. Peter’s gaze went back up, looking back in horror at the flying piece of structure coming his way.
He shot a web swinging past it just in time. His action made him nearly bump against Peter one, your Peter. Peter three was dangling sloppy and out of balance. He shot another web directing him to vast ground on the construction. He needed to find his balance again.
His feet touched vast ground as he stumbled a bit forwards. Ned moving out of the way just in time. – “What are you doing the battle is up there.” – Ned called out. Peter grabbed onto the railing, shooting Ned a glare out of breath. MJ slapped him hard against the arm. – “You try fighting off all those villains.” – MJ said coming to his defence.
Peter saluted her before jumping on the railing and leaping into the depts. MJ came running over to the railing, greeted by a tumbling Peter in the air as his web had released. Strange was on top as a piece of construction went his way.
He quickly opened a portal as it flung through it. Another portal opened closer to the ground. Surprised you looked up, eyes wide in horror. A piece of structure slowly falling down. You started to scream, running to a direction, hoping you’d be fast enough to not get squashed. – “Y/n!” – Peter one called out in a panic.
“On it!” – Peter two replied setting himself off to jump down. He kept falling till he shot out a web. Changing his position to swing fast, opening an arm. He lifted his feet up so they wouldn’t scrape the ground as he flung low.
With a loud oof where you grabbed and lifted up in the air with him. – “Careful out there Y/n.” – he said with a soft chuckle. – “Blame Strange.” – you mumbled out. Peter two came to a stop further away. He let go of you. – “Go hide!” – he ordered before launching himself back in the air.
You ran to some rubble, finding a hiding spot in between. There you waited for the battle to come to an end. Hoping Strange wouldn’t drop another boulder on you. While you waited, unconsciously were you pulled back to the feeling when you fell.
The fear making your muscles tense. Then that warm feeling came when Peter caught you. Somehow when you were in his arms, your fear faded away. Seeing the fear and heartbreak in his eyes made you yearn to comfort him.
Being with him was like a movie you had seen before. Something close yet out of reach. There was no denying the way his presence made you feel. Feel visible. With Peter, your Peter you were visible too, but not that much.
You very much felt like a side-character watching the main one’s have a wonderful life as you faded out into nothingness. Only being present when you were requested. Sometimes you felt lonely around your friends. Almost as if you were that one person just too much.
It wasn’t a great feeling. With Peter, Peter three you didn’t felt that way. It felt like you were actually mattered. A feeling you wanted to hold onto for as long as it could.
Everyone made their way down as the battle had been stilled. Peter one had held MJ to bring her down safely. Ned was with Strange as Peter two and three joined. MJ and Peter hugged tightly. Ned exhaled relieved running up to them. Peter three looked around worried.
“Y/n? Where is Y/n?” – he said in a bit of a panic. You hear your name, moving a fallen plate out of your way to clear your way. - “Peter!” – you called out as three heads turned your way. You came out of your hiding place now that the battle had toned down. – “Y/n.” – Peter said from your earth relieved.
You started to run up to them beyond relieved that no one was too injured. Perhaps a few bruises. He smiled opening his arms a bit to you, ready to receive a hug from you. Yet his smile faltered when you ran past him to another Peter. You swung your arms around Peter three as they liked to call him and spun around with him as he hugged you tightly back.
Peter, your Peter gaped confused at you. Peter two came by his side placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. Peter three had his hand against the back of your head. – “Are you hurt?” – he asked setting you back down. You shook your head, presenting your good state to him.
“All clear.” – you joked making him smile saddened. – “Peter.” – Strange called out. Peter three lowered his head knowing what was to come. Tilting your head a bit, you watched Peter carefully. – “Why are you sad?” – you asked.
He lifted his head up with a teary smile. – “You gave me something I could only dream off.” – he told you letting his thumb brush against your cheek. You smiled genuinely back at him. – “Peter.” – Strange persisted on, waiting to send him back. Peter’s smile faded knowing he’d never get to see you again.
MJ picked up on the way Peter was looking at you. It made him look at her own Peter for a moment. – “You lost someone didn’t you?” – she asked out of the blue. Peter lifted his head up to her, surprised. He then nodded saddened. – “I…I did…” – he answered. His hand slid down as his head lowered briefly. – “I…I lost your MJ…” – he gestured at your Peter. – “My… my Y/n.” – he swallowed down the knot in his throat.
You blinked surprised to him, hearing your name out of his mouth. Suddenly it was all so clear. The feeling why you felt so attracted to Peter. Like magnets. Your first reaction was to throw your arms around him and embrace him. Wanting to be close to him.
Peter hugged you tightly back. He didn’t want the feeling to end. Neither did you. – “Peter! Say your final goodbye’s.” – Strange called out. It made you pull away. – “Can’t… can’t he stay?” – you asked as his hand was still on your lower back. Strange shook his head. – “No kid, this world can’t have two spiderman. He belongs on his earth, where they need a spiderman like him.” – Strange explained.
Peter and you looked at each other. – “What if…” – Peter started as you finished off his words. – “What if I come with him?” – you suggested. – “What?” – Peter called out, your Peter. – “Y/n you can’t be serious!” – he called out walking up to you. – “You belong here with us!” – he made perfectly clear.
“Do I Peter?” – you answered back. You turned away from your Peter, back to Strange. – “I can come with him right? He lost his Y/n, so it wouldn’t create a paradox, right?” – you explained. – “Kid…” – Strange began as you knew he was going to tell you no.
“That’s not how it works. The you from his world is no more. You don’t belong there. I’m sorry.” – he told you. – “There must be a way?” – Peter three exclaimed. – “There isn’t!” – Strange answered snappy. Peter, your Peter was pulling on your wrist, pulling you away from him. – “No… please…” – you begged reaching out to Peter. Peter knew he was being selfish but he wanted you.
He missed you so deeply, he couldn’t imagine a world without you. Peter reached back for you. You broke free from Peter’s grip, running up to him. You clamped yourself onto him, not wanting to let go. – “I just want you.” – you told him. Peter held tightly onto you, afraid he might lose you again if he loosened his grip on you. – “I love you Y/n. On every earth.” – he told you as you slowly felt his grip loosen.
Confused you stumbled a bit forwards at the loss of a grip. With glossy eyes your arms embraced yourself. Crying you fell to your knees. Peter, your Peter approached you placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. You brushed it off, wanting nothing of him. Strange had finished the spell without anyone knowing.
Peter stumbled forwards, looking confused at his empty hands. – “No…no…n-n-no…” – he stumbled out grabbing the air, wanting to feel your last touch. – “Nooo!” – he cried out dropping to his knees. Strange had finished the spell. Sending him back to his earth alone. It felt more dreadful knowing he had you back, just to be taken away.
Once again his heart began to bleed with sorrow and grief. Grief overtaking him so badly, he started to hyperventilate in the abandoned alleyway. This was torture. After a while he dragged himself back to his house. Aunt May looking worriedly up.
“Where have you…” – she was about to scold him when she noticed the stained tears on his cheek. She immediately ran up to him, embracing him for comfort. – “I’ve lost her again…” – he said to Aunt May as she furrowed her brows.
She moved some hair aside to sooth him. She knew how hard your death had fallen upon him. Peter went to his bedroom letting himself fall onto his bed. Staring at the ceiling, he felt like spinning. – “I’ve lost you once, but not again…” – he told himself.
“I’ll find a way… even if it is the last thing I do.” – he rolled over to his side, his gaze falling on the many pictures of you and him on his wall. – “Come back to me…” – he said with a tiny crack in his voice.

Gravity Falls DVD Commentary Highlights
(just a huge, and I mean huge, dump of random quotes that stuck out to me, which I sorta separated into characters+their relationships and it's probably gonna be obvious that Stan is my fave lmao
I dunno how to make this legible for anyone but whatever, just take all these rando character tidbits. Stan Twin pranks! Sonployee essays! The concept for a post-Weirdmageddon episode that Alex insists is just too miserable but I want it anyway! The Pines family making me cry!)
Stan
"We love the idea of Stan [in Boss Mabel] having a minute to uh, having a context where we want to see him be his worst self and seeing his big brash personality in like a setting that everyone can understand, because the Mystery Shack is a little bit ungrounded because he's in his world of his characters, but seeing him out in the outside world is funny weird."
We really enjoyed the fact that he's as awful as ever and he's rewarded for it. We like those anti-morals where Stan uses his terribleness to succeed incredibly well.
I think it was a little hard for people to understand in the writer's room at the beginning of the series was that, even though Stan is following a lot of these tropes of being a miser, he's not grumpy. Like he actually loves being himself. He really revels in it like even though he's got some kind of sorrow inside, his kind of day-to-day like he's more about just the uncle who loves to hear himself and make dumb jokes than he is somebody who's mean or cruel or cynical per se.
The [NWHS] storyboards managed to make Stan this awesome action hero while still keeping him Stan. Like I like the fact that he steals a wallet in the middle of it. He steals a wallet, he smashes somebody against the wall, he sasses him but he also has this just great Inception moment. And it's because we're building to a big question about “who is Stan?”, I felt a moment of seeing him be kind of awesome further increases your “who is this guy?” He keeps going back and forth between like “oh geez my back” and you're like “all right that's the Stan I know” and then like “whoa, he just did an awesome jailbreak! Is he some kind of super villain? Who is he really?
There's more of Ford in Stan than I think Stan realizes that I think only comes out in certain moments.”
Why did Stan keep a clipping of himself titled “grifter at large”? I think he thought he looked cool in that picture. “You know I kind of have a Clint Eastwood look in this grifter at large photo. I think maybe I'll use this as an About the Author one day. I gotta hold on to this one. You know what, I'm a criminal but I'm a nostalgic criminal! Loving the past is my greatest crime now!”
I know how Stan feels in this [Principal talking to his family] scene, when somebody comes in and says like “You know what? There was a race you didn't know you were running and you're already behind, way behind.”
And you know even though Stan is a guy who looks like he's having a fun time, I always, in my gut, thought of him as somebody who is a huge well of sadness, a loss of human connection. And that need to please, that trying to get laughs from the crowd and constantly telling dumb jokes and you know putting on a big show in the Mystery Shack, he's trying to get from them the affection that he never got from his family and lost with his brother.
Stan has been waiting for years to have a reunion with his brother. He's always felt like a screw-up. Stan once again had an idea of how he thought things were going to go. He thought that his brother was saying “I need your help” for the first time. He's going to go up there, they're gonna have some drinks, they're gonna catch up and instead he ended up shoving his brother into another dimension and running out of food and money. It's sort of his worst nightmare. But this was Stan's entire character, from the very beginning of the series, was built around this idea that he's living with this tragedy. He's a guy who outwardly seems like he doesn't appreciate family but in fact wants it more than anything in the world and feels like maybe he's not worthy of it and would do anything to prove that he is.
Seeing Stan figure out what he's good at felt important to me. Like he's never been good at anything in his life and he makes a stupid hokey joke and it suddenly turns into a profit. I felt like without [showing how the Mystery Shack was created], I was missing something and understanding why he would do this, how this would be the solution to his problem.
We would like the idea that Stan appears to win through dumb luck, that it's sort of Intelligence versus Guts but Stan wouldn't actually bet everyone's life on a dice roll. He's a cheater! At the end of the day, I believe Stan has been thrown out of Vegas for counting cards and for weighing dies and I believe he could con his way out of any game, particularly for an obnoxious wizard like this. The idea that Stan would gamble everyone on pure chance is like no. No, he's got a plan. This is the guy who escaped prison using gravity leaps, he's got a way out.
The one big thing [The Stanchurian Candidate] does is really highlights Stan's inferiority complex compared to his brother. Part of what he's doing is he's trying to be an important man here and this episode is actually a pretty good setup in many ways for Weirdmageddon Part 3. When we see Ford they're all going on this rescue mission to rescue Ford and this episode shows you just how much Stan wants to be the hero like the reason that he can't shake Ford's hand when they're in that circle. The cold open of this where he sees everyone loves Ford and now that Ford's back, he's the best. Stan's like “well, how about I run for mayor!” It's just to boost his ego and make him feel better about himself.
Dipper and Mabel
“Straight man protagonists are really hard to write because every other character had a comedic hook. We understand that Soos is kind of this weirdo, his brain is in another place. Mabel has this exuberance and sees the best in every situation and is very creative. Stan is a crooked conman. Dipper is… the normal guy and a character like that can often feel like they don’t have agency, start to feel just reactive.
Waddles is Mabel's only love that lasts the summer. Mabel is very prone to love at first sight and Waddles is able to love back with Mabel's degree of love.
[In Sock Opera] Mabel's in love with Gabe, Dipper's in love with the Author and they're both willing to do something crazy to get get closer to that thing
There kept being layers of adjustment to make it, “okay what would it take to get Dipper to make a deal with Bill?” 1: He would have to not understand the rules of the deal. He's been tricked, he thinks he's just giving a puppet, he didn't know was himself. Classic genie rules, you get what you wish for in a way you didn't expect. 2: There's a little ticking clock that just started, which if he doesn't do it by now, he's gonna lose all this. 3: Bill rightfully points out that Mabel has been kind of not sacrificing for him and he maybe needs another ally right now 4: He was sleep deprived and actually you'll notice that Dipper blinks right before Bill arrives and that's our way of suggesting that that countdown might not have even existed
I think Dipper and Mabel are of equal exact intelligence but Dipper's insecure. He sees his accomplishments as a way to make himself better and thus is motivated to focus on things that are accomplishment type things. And Mabel is very confident and likes having fun and when she's having a good time, she has a little tunnel vision for the people and the things around her. That's one of her biggest flaws. She's actually really, really sweet when she notices and understands your pain but not when she's doing a bit, when she's doing a scene, when she's doing a gag.
Ford
Originally [the fake Author] looked a little bit more like an oddball wacky inventor and I felt he had to be pretty idiosyncratic. There's certain color things about him you'll notice. He's more or less got the color scheme of the Journal, you know maroons and golds, so that you kind of feel instinctively like maybe that's him. A lot of these motifs though we would end up using in Ford's design, as well the gloves and the coat and all that but much cooler later on but preparing you, it's Ford Lite.
Now this is there's no logical reason that Ford would break [the warnings about the portal] up into all these books this way but up until this point he's been shown as this sort of all-knowing mysterious Puzzle Master that it felt appropriate, even though it's not logical.
It works for the storytelling so when Ford wrote that, that's when he was super sleep deprived. He realized that Bill had betrayed him, he was starting to have a hard time differentiating between fantasy and reality, he was losing sleep and scribbling all sorts of lunatic serial killer looking stuff about the end of the world.
In Time Traveler’s Pig, we see what should be a young Stanford Pines even though again, the design's a little off but we knew big sideburns, bushy hair. Although that Stanford looked a little bit more swole than this guy and that's one of the what we thought were very subtle clues in season one that helped a lot of fans figure figure everything out way too soon.
[Using the memory gun on the agents scene] needs to show that Ford's really awesome and so we could get rid of the agents and show that Ford can pretty much handle anything that Stan can't and also call back to our memory ray all in one.
There was a lot of fan speculation when we first met Ford. Generally when television shows introduce a new mysterious character late in the game, they turn out to be a villain like 9 out of 10 times. They turn out to be a villain or they're there to get killed off to show the stakes of something and like we could have made Ford evil but I always felt that that would be less interesting. The point that I was trying to get to is that Stan and Ford had this relationship that fell apart and it was both of their faults and I thought that if I'm Stan, I'd be more frustrated if Ford is actually a good guy. It would drive me insane if he's pretty reasonable, pretty rational, better at me than everything.
So we've flirted with this brief moment where it seems like he's a villain and we worked really hard to make it so that like his eyes are being covered by the reflection of the light. His dialogue is ambiguous enough here that for a moment you believe what Dipper believes, which is “maybe he's possessed by Bill.” You just saw him shaking Bill's hand, what is he supposed to believe?
I like that Ford has this photo with him, he had for a really really long time all the way through multiple dimensions. And he's probably told himself- I almost imagined if McGucket found that photo in his coat while they were working on the portal or something, like “What's this here?” and Ford would say “oh yes, that's a photo of a very important moment! That's when I… that's when I first decided I want to be an inventor!” There would be no reference to the real reason he's keeping it. “This is me and my brother.” It would be like, “oh yes I was thinking about science as a horizon, a frontier to reach towards– you know like a boat, like a ship, like science! It's about science!”
Soos
You choose family. That you create over the course of your life and if that somebody earns being your family, like the Mystery Shack. These kids and Stan, they’re Soos' family and he's happy about that.
I feel like Soos gained something out of [Blendin’s Game]. He gains the knowledge that like “I'm tired of thinking about this man who I'm missing, who doesn't care about me. I'm going to concentrate on the people in front of me, the people that are my true family.”
Soos is a fan of the show even though he's in it. He's a big fan of Gravity Falls and [NWHS] killed him.
I always knew what I wanted Soos’ end to be Soos running the Mystery Shack. I imagine that Soos is actually way better at giving tours than Stan is because he loves all that stuff truly and he believes it. That's part of the difference. Stan’s like “um, all right suckers, this stagnant puddle is the befuddle puddle!” while Soos is like “yeah, one time I looked in there, I think i saw like a cyclops dude. Like, I really think I saw one! Like it might have been a reflection combining my pupils, but like?” and people are like “Whoa, really??”
McGucket
They hired a bunch of people and then they erased their memory. That’s my explanation for why there's like such amazing inventions that would take whole teams of people. McGucket secretly hired a number of contractors and erased their minds. Like I think of McGucket as being like a really sweet nice guy completely in over his head who just like “oh well, once I've erased one guy's mind, I gotta erase ten more guys’ minds to cover it up” and it just sort of builds into like “I guess I'm kind of this kingpin of crime and I'm starting a cult I didn't mean to. Whoopsy daisy!”
When we get to Ford and see their backstory and see their relationship, it just makes all the stuff that happens with the portal and what happens with Ford and all that more poignant that he had someone there who was not only his friend but also a voice of reason and telling him to stop and that he wouldn't listen to him, as opposed to Ford being down there on his own with nobody to bounce off, anybody to say “hey wait a minute, is this a good idea?”
“McGucket was the assistant and he was maybe this assistant who was sort of put upon and Ford kind of brought a college buddy together with him. You know Ford as somebody who lost Stan, and even though he rejected his brother, he kind of needs that other person and he tried to find that in this kind of sweet prodigy and he just pushed him too far.
[The test scene] is meant to show sort of what it was that McGucket needed to erase, what it was that drove him to madness. It was partially seeing the Nightmare Verse and the way it messed with his head and also partly just realizing that this thing has apocalyptic consequences and he doesn't want to be a part of it. And if he can't destroy it or talk Ford out of something, he can forget about it.
Because If Ford's weakness is pride, McGucket's weakness is weakness. He's got a kind heart and he can't stop people, he can't destroy things. I mean he should have basically knocked Ford out with a wrench and take this thing apart piece by piece. He's the one who understood how to build it but I think he's kind of a follower and I think he's the kind of person who could get suckered in by a cult leader. He’s the kind of person looking for instruction and he really respects Stanford and can't bring himself to uh, he's like “I just got out of a bunker! I don't want to go work for another guy down in another bunker! This is my third doomsday cult this year!”
Stan and the kids
Stan and Mabel have such a different life perspective it seemed natural that at some point they would get to a major conflict
Seeing Grunkle Stan and Dipper bond like, I sort of believe that both of them are bad with women and both of them would rather believe there's a giant conspiracy than that they have they just can't get ladies
Can this idea about Mabel's relationship with Waddles actually reveal a rift between Mabel and Stan where Mabel and Stan actually get along pretty well in the series you know? When they they're both such strong stubborn personalities that when they conflict, they conflict hard like in Boss Mabel. But this idea that Waddles is sort of a metaphor for what Mabel loves and Stan loves Mabel but he doesn't really think that anything she thinks is necessarily smart or right. He loves her like “guys she's my sweet niece but she doesn't know anything you know? She doesn't know anything about a pig” She forgives a lot with Stan but like Waddles sort of represents like the purity of her deepest love and the idea that Stan would threaten that is genuinely a shock
In the previous season it ends with Dipper giving up his journal and there was a lot of argument about “oh is it lame if he just gets his journal back?” Another thing we struggled with, we knew that Stan knows the importance of this journal he wouldn't give the journal back to Dipper so it was a bit of a convolution we'd written ourselves into a corner. We wrote ourselves out, we said “okay he's photocopied it. he's giving it to Dipper because he knows that Dipper's really precocious and he'll never stop asking.”
“We knew that we wanted everything to come to a head when the kids are going to discover Stan's secret and they're going to discover it in such a way that they only get little bits and pieces and they have to decide for themselves based on the limited information. Is Stan's a good guy or if he's a bad guy? Ultimately that decision will be a decision of heart versus mind. And Dipper's mind, Mabel is heart and they're fighting with the scraps of information they have. Should we trust our heart about how we feel about this guy over the course of the summer and everything we've been through or should we trust the clues? That seemed like a believable way to get Dipper and Mabel to begin a rift between them that is resolved by the end of the series.”
The way Stan acts in [NWHS] is like, to me part of what feels so grounded about it is like I'm a child of divorce and like I know that when parents or parent figures know that hard times are coming for the kids. They kind of lay it on thick they're like who wants ice cream you know what I mean? Like Stan being extra nice to them at the beginning is like it's kind of a realistic thing that that adults do when they know like big changes are coming.
I felt it was really important that we added the scene where they're at maximum bonding. They're up on the roof, they're shooting firecrackers. Stan knows in his heart that when his brother arrives everything is going to change in ways he can't predict and he's really savoring this moment because he knows, even if things goes completely smoothly, which they don't. the kids are still going to be mad at him, especially Dipper for basically lying. They had this big meeting after the end of Scaryoke where of course Dipper also crossed his finger but Stan crosses his fingers and says “oh I'm telling you everything” and he knows that the kids are not going to be happy about the fact that he's been keeping this all from them because they've done amazing things together already and he should have trusted them before now.
This act break is them saying, “wait, Stan might be a random grifter who maybe killed our real uncle!” That's pretty heavy for any show let alone a cartoon show.
What that would mean for them if all this stuff is true is so much further than just like, “oh he lied to us about a couple things.” It's just like, “no he's straight up just some random dude that we don't even know uh and the guy that I've been pining for this whole time is dead!” We really try to stack the deck so it's like Mabel's perspective and Dipper's perspective are both kind of racing to see who gets in front and there'll be a moment where it's like yeah you kind of buy with Mabel she feels good about about Stan and then this scene is the most you’re ever with Dipper where we discover this huge crazy curveball and this feeling that you have looking at this newspaper and looking through these fake IDs this is how Dipper feels all the time. If you want a window about what it's like to be Dipper, this moment where a giant conspiracy reveals itself out of little pieces and seems to suggest that no one is trustworthy like that's that's where Dipper lives and this to him confirms every bit of suspicion and every bit of paranoia he's ever had and he's willing to run with it.
I love these characters so much that, for me I was like “I need to see Stan saying goodbye to the kids at that bus. And I don't want him to be some guy who isn't Stan, who doesn't even remember the kids.” That would be really dramatic. It might make you cry more but to me it doesn't actually mean anything. Their relationship which they've built, he was willing to sacrifice his memories to save them. That's how much they meant to him but because he was willing to do that, I think he deserves to get him back.
Stan and Ford
But I think Stan's hope is, that in Stan's mind this is going to play out one way which is that; he's going to free his brother, his brother's gonna come out of that portal after 30 years. Stan's probably imagining that Ford is weak, emaciated, wrapped in a blanket, that he'll stumble forward, through a beard. through blurry eyes, he'll be “my brother, is that you?” He'll embrace Stan, he'll hug him, he'll say, “all these years I thought I was goner but you saved me! I was wrong to mock you, I was wrong to call you the stupid twin! Dad was wrong about you! You're the greatest man and let's be friends again and who are these niece and nephew?” Like that was what Stan was kind of hoping. He knows it's there's a million things that could go wrong, including potentially the destruction of this dimension, but he so desperately needs to believe that he can make up for the problems of the past. He's hoping for this but he knows that things are going to change
When I started the series, I always knew Stan had a twin but all I knew about Ford from the jump was that he's everything Stan Isn't. So Stan is a guy with a huge chip on his shoulder, he's kind of a loser at life. There's somebody who is a winner at life or at least was a winner in all these ways that Stan wasn't.
We realized that in order to bring out the maximum amount of frustration in Stan, [Ford] needed to have a bit of a heart. Like here we see him being kind to the kids, he's not he's not all bad which is what's so infuriating to Stan. The idea that he would quickly get along with the kids when he can't get any respect from them. Ford is designed for what would bring out the most amount of conflict in the family. What would be Dipper's hero, what would be Stan's rival and who's somebody that we could empathize with. I mean, it’s hard to empathize with a character that comes out and punches one of your characters in the face, basically before he almost says anything.
You see that at this age, that all the stuff [in their room] that would cross over, that would appeal to both of them. It's not just like “there's science stuff here” and then there's “what Stan would be into.” but no, they both like all this.
There was also a version [of ToTS] where early on, they'd rigged the school water fountain. They did sort of like a caper, it was science and a scam together when they were in elementary school but we decided to save the science for the science fair stuff.
We played around with the idea that you would see them working together doing little science games or pulling little pranks. There was actually a scene that some of it was even storyboarded where they're in a treehouse together and Crampelter and his friends have tracked them down and are begging for their lunch money and Stan and Ford have used their jerkiness and geniusness to rig up like a water balloon throwing machine that knocks Crampelter in the head. I remember him saying, “oh no, my old-timey paper crown!” We were really hanging a lampshade on all these sort of Little Rascal cliches.
Ford's not a villain. You know he's getting in Stan's face and saying “I want my life back” but hopefully by the end of the episode even though you don't root for his perspective, you understand his perspective where it's like Stan ruined his science project, Stan shoved him into the portal, Stan took over his house. He’s not completely unreasonable to want it back and he's not completely unreasonable about his request. He says “okay you've got till the end of the summer” and Stan's little look there tells you everything you need to know about how he feels about the situation.
We needed pressure to be at the point where Stan and Ford recognize their lifelong rivalry and Ford does a sincere apology to Stan and almost more importantly, he acknowledges Stan's intelligence. He says “you wouldn't have fallen for Bill's nonsense.” He recognizes that his brother has a kind of intelligence he doesn't.
I always imagined that as kids, Stan and Ford were like this dynamic duo. They were getting into scrapes and like planning pranks and with Stan's creativity and Ford's genius that they were an unstoppable awesome team, before life turned them against each other. I imagine that as kids they were always swapping glasses and tricking their parents so that they could get double presents. And this is a move they did back in New Jersey constantly. We had to figure out who's gonna make a sacrifice and how and even though it's Stan who agrees to be “I'll be the one erase my mind, it's fine, it's worth it”, it's a sacrifice for both. Ford at this point is willing to get his brother back and he has to lose him again.
Stan and Ford, when they can finally work together, do bring out the best in each other. They just have been missing it for so long.
Post-mind return, Stan and Ford get along and that scene where they both threaten the bus driver gives a hint of what would happen if their powers were combined. We've never seen them working together as adults, they would be a really formidable duo.
Pines Family
[The Blind Eye has] such a great scene between Mabel and Wendy. We don't have a lot of scenes that are just them hanging out and she can kind of be like the cool older sister. Mabel's so obsessed with boys and Wendy's just like "yeah, whatever. They're a dime a dozen."
“in the storyboard, the postcard that Soos is holding up from New Orleans actually said Vegas and at the last minute we got really worried that people were gonna see that and think that that was a clue that Stan was Soos's deadbeat father. And because like our audience, we've trained them to look for clues and to connect dots, they start connecting dots that are not connected. And I called a late retake because, and I see people be like, “wouldn't that be cool if Stan was actually Soos's father” and I hate that headcanon. Whoever's listening and you think “that's a great idea!”-- that's a terrible idea!! Because it means that Stan ran out on his kid and then came back in his life. And weirdly pretends to not be his dad. It flies against the moral of this entire episode which is like, you know this guy who is Soos’ blood relative like cast him out and didn't come back and didn't make time for him and all these people did. These people are Soos’ real family and to say “Stan would be Soos' real father more if he was genetically–”, I'm like “no, no forget that!” Like relationships are about what you do. To me friendship is thicker than water and family is something you can create so I really didn't want anyone to think that we were suggesting that because to me, it actually wasn't just the wrong idea, it was like thematically against what the show's about.” "
"[In NWHS] Every character faces their worst possible choice, which is “Mabel must choose between Dipper and Stan” and “Soos must choose between Stan and the kids,” like “guard that thing with your life. I'm not going to explain to you why.” I believe that Soos would do anything to guard Mr Pines's secrets and these are the only two characters that could possibly make him doubt Stan, these two kids that he loves so much."
"For [DD&MD], you want to set it up as being like [Ford]'s like the coolest toy that's down in the basement that Dipper really wants to play with and he is not allowed to play with him."
"The first three quarters of the series are sort of about Dipper's crush on Wendy and this final quarter is sort of about his crush on the Author. He's such a fan of this guy and he's so used to being denied that which he's a fan of and he's never found anybody who cares about his nerdy stuff. Mabel doesn't care, Stan doesn't care, Soos cares but on a different level. He's so hungry for the approval of somebody like Ford This idea that they would bond over a nerdy board game felt like sort of the way to do this big idea in a sort of grounded way that I like better than like Ford presented Dipper with the Five Trials of the Genius Boy. “I passed these when I was your age! Can you do it too?” and it's like nope he just likes the same dork game that he does."
"The arrival of Ford is creating the two sets of twins starting to pair off between the Brainiacs and the Maniacs"
"Actually I enjoyed that [Ford putting the die in a cheap plastic case] got a little bit of a reckless side because it shows you the Stan part of him. The Stan part of Ford, the little bit that likes a little bit of danger, he likes a little bit of risk. If he would show that side, it would be in when he feels at ease, with a kindred spirit. Around Dipper he’d be like “isn't this pretty cool?” He'd never be that irresponsible around Stan. I like that Dipper is sort of a little bit of a Achilles heel for Ford as well. Ford has certain blind spots and Dipper exacerbates some of those just because he's willing to encourage, he's willing to “yes and” Ford towards whatever dumb idea he might have."
"Dipper, Mabel, Stan and Ford, they're all characters who need each other. Without Dipper, Mabel's just in a fantasy land. Without Mabel, Dipper is just sort of just spiraling into misery, spiraling into his own neurosis and not being pulled into those social situations, not growing as a person."
"You want [Stan] to be true to our various awful grandfathers, so I feel like for the most part you know that [being shitty to women] a plausible thing for Stan to do, that you only forgive because you know he's not a role model. Nobody wants to be like Stan. The kids never look up to him. The only person who looks up to Stan is Soos and Soos is enough of a comedy character that you understand the joke is “oh this guy thinks the worst way to live is good.” And then at one point you realize why. We made it clear why Soos looks up to Stan is because he gave him his job. He gave him a father basically, he’s essentially Soos’ father. And of course Stan who's had a life of just chaos and disappointment, the only person who would be a surrogate son is [Soos] but also Soos has the biggest heart in the world. So only the biggest heart in the world could forgive all of Stan's many flaws and also if Soos can love Stan, then maybe there's something in there worth loving, then maybe we can too."
"Stan, even when he's sweet, he still has to threaten to murder his niece and nephew."
"I do think the value of [Stanchurian Candidate] is that we're learning just how important it is that [Stan]’s seen. At this point, the kids have become a surrogate family. At the beginning of the show, they were just kind of a little nuisance and then he kind of tried out getting the family from them that he never got from his brother and the idea that he would lose them to his brother is his greatest nightmare and the only way he can really express that is by trying to be impressive to them and trying to be his brother's rival."
"Ford offers Dipper this apprenticeship because Ford sees Dipper as somebody who's special like himself. That Ford's great flaw is arrogance. He believes that there's special people and everyone else and that you can be held back by your siblings. That human attachments are actually weaknesses. The song and dance that he's giving Dipper right now is the exact song of dance that he gave McGucket back when they were younger which is like “sure you could continue working on your job and computers but you and me are different. We're better than everyone else, we have a path that no one else can understand. Only us can do this.” And it’s a very seductive idea for Dipper but he starts to be a little insecure here. He’s kind of “I can't believe it” and he's sort of right to be suspicious because Dipper is a smart kid but Ford's projecting. Ford loves Dipper because he sees someone who tell him yes to everything. He'll never challenge him and if Dipper had taken Ford's apprenticeship,Dipper probably would have gone the way of McGucket, turned into a kind of insane paranoid hermit with no friends, just kind of losing his mind. Like it's a seductive offer but also ultimately Dipper needs to learn not to try to grow up too fast."
"This entire time Dipper's been having this journey of self-discovery and seeing his future as this wonderful thing that he can't wait for. Mabel has been, piece by piece, seeing her idea of the summer fall apart."
"As Ford and Dipper's relationship grow stronger, Stan and Mabel also find much more sort of connection. They both feel like the sibling that's getting kind of sidelined."
"I think [amnesiac!Stan] would be hardest on Soos, second hardest on Ford but Soos would show it. Probably third hardest on Mabel, fourth hardest on Dipper just because where their hearts are. Dipper's not heartless, that's a testament to just how heartbroken those other characters are."
Series goal+ The Finale
"So our idea was; the memory gun can erase a concept as designated by the dial. It stores it. It records you and it keeps that recording and that if you watch that recording things start to come back a little bit, that it hasn't actually completely erased it from your mind. It's more sublimated somewhere where it's really really hard to reach and in the series finale, my concept of Bill is that; if he hadn't gotten in all those forms and fought Stan, Stan is the one that destroyed Bill. Were it just the mind eraser itself that he would be sublimated somewhere but he was weakened in the mindscape and destroyed in the mindscape. But Stan's memories were being sublimated and by looking at the scrapbook in the same way that McGucket's memories come back, they start to come back to the surface."
"I think part of what makes [NWHS] work also is that it has the strongest ticking clock. Yeah, I mean. it has a literal ticking clock. Also the sun is going down it's also, the town is starting to drift apart as the characters are starting to drift apart. There's just such a sense of Doomsday and even though we have like a three-part apocalypse, to me nothing feels as apocalyptic as this episode now."
"The entire purpose of [ToTS] is that Stan and his brother have had this huge rivalry that remains to this day and threatens to tear apart Dipper and Mabel and briefly does, and then Dipper and Mabel are able to find their way together, which is meant to repair Stan and his brother's past."
"Here we're teeing up the rest of the conclusion of the series which is just “whoa this is different. The status quo is shifted and is it going to shift us?” and that was the mission of this entire story was shift. Shift things such that it pits Dipper and Mabel against each other so that they can ultimately make things right and fix their uncles’ trauma in the process."
"“Let's try to set things into motion such that all of these characters who we love, who love each other are placed at maximum odds”. So Ford's entire existence in the series is basically a wrench in the relationships between Stan, Dipper and Mabel, that Stan has had a sibling who he didn't get along with and they've grown up having this horrible rift. Dipper and Mabel are these two twins who love each other but are very very different and are at this sort of volatile growing up moment where if something goes wrong could they turn out like Stan and Ford."
"[The convincing Gideon] scene works for me because it sort of represents the full completion of Dipper's Wendy Arc. Even though he's talking about Gideon and Mabel, he's really talking about himself. That idea that you can't force someone to love you but you can strive to be someone worthy of loving. It really does come down to like be the best you, you can be and the right person will see and feel that."
"It was gonna be W1, W2, W3 and then some kind of goodbye story. I remember it being something vaguely about some sort of other time travel. Bringing Blendin back because he just kind of vamoosed in the middle of this big story. There was that discussed like time traveling back to the first day when the kids arrived. The challenge was thinking of a valuable arc. So like each episode needs to have like a new problem and a new resolution and I was trying to brainstorm what's something that could feel valuable for like a final episode after the apocalypse, after Stan's mind has been erased and he's in the process of getting it back. "
"The thing I remember I wrote one out it was it's the last day of summer. Dipper and Mabel are packing uh they're planning to go home, they're feeling like nostalgic, they kind of don't want to leave. Blendin shows up and he explains that there's all these time bubbles left over, these weird anomalies because of all the time business and what Bill has done and just to watch out and be careful. Then Dipper and Mabel actually accidentally trip into one of these bubbles that are sent back to the very first episode or actually beyond the first episode, their first day in Gravity Falls um and somehow this was meant their character arc was to go from being like a little sad that they're going to leave Gravity Falls to seeing what it was like on the first day. When they were scared to be in Gravity Falls. The idea is like their first day they're like “oh Grunkle Stan, he's this weird old man and we hate living in this house and like we missed our place of comfort back home! And this is a kind of scary new adventure that we don't like.” The kids see their own growth and realize like “the way we felt about going to Gravity Falls like we don't think we can handle it, is how we feel about leaving.” That feeling of going into a new experience means that something new and exciting is going to happen you're going to grow. There was some thought that maybe over the course of that episode, Stan would get his memory back and something that the kids had done in the past would help him in the present, get his memory back.
"What's supposed to be happening here isn't that Stan's entire memory reappears in an instant. It's supposed to be a couple days of work and we see the beginning of that process when he looks at the scrapbook and then we're kind of jumping ahead a few days. maybe a week of just intensive memory therapy with Stan before he gets there."
"When we were trying to crack the half hour episode after Weirdmageddon, it felt like we were just kind of wallowing and Stan not having his memories. It was a very depressing thing. And we didn’t get to have Stan for the last episode, which was like “it's a great it's great i think you get the emotion like in this episode. It tears you apart when you see it. You could last a little bit longer on it. But going much longer, then you just feels like well what are we doing? Why are we just kind of wallowing in our own sorrows for no good reason.”
"When we had discussed the idea of an episode beyond this episode, a fourth episode, it was basically 20 minutes of [amnesiac!Stan]. This is so intense, you might think you want it but good lord, this is enough."
"Bill singing “We’ll meet again” was something that just felt like the perfect reference because this is kind of an ending about endings in a lot of ways and we know we know Bill's going to be defeated. We know that people like Vill and have grown attached to him and for him to sing “We’ll meet again” is sort of the perfect mysterious way to say like “I might be going, I might not be going.” It’s a reference to Dr Strangelove, a movie that famously ends with nuclear apocalypse and the song “We’ll meet again” so it's for those pop culture savvy. It's already tinged with a kind of a fear and an irony and the apocalypse built in, so it's perfect on a number of levels."
"The concept of the Zodiac as existing in our current canon is this idea that the prophecy was that friends and enemies would need to come together, seemingly impossible alliances would need to be made to stand up to Bill for this prophetic moment. You know that characters like Gideon who was who used to be an enemy, characters like Pacifica, like Robbie, that we've reached the point where thanks to the kids’ kindness and growth, they are now friends with Pacifica, they've resolved Robbie's jerkiness, they've helped McGucket with his memory. They've even overcome this issue with Gideon in W1 and so it seems like friends and enemies have all been restored, leaving only one thing which is Stan and Ford have to shake hands. And their pride once again is what dooms the entire world but they get so close."
"It's clear Stan, even though he's being stubborn here and holds things up, he's ready to do it. He clasps Ford's hand and then Ford can't help but correct his ignorant brother with something that doesn't matter at all after professing how important all this is and how important it is to put pettiness aside, he's the one who ends up being petty in the end."
"I like that Stan [during the deal] is just thinking “all right, think white, think white, think white.” He's like “think about nothing but sitting on your lazy boy.” "
"Stan and Bill had never interacted in the series up until this moment because he had just been taken over when he was asleep. We'd seen a lot of Ford and Bill, but Stan and Bill has never happened. And Bill sort of represents all the mystery and weirdness, and Stan is the guy who just wants to have a good life and protect his family. He's the one who never invited Bill in but he's willing to take Bill out."
"If Mabel's going home with a pig, Dipper's going home with this symbol of his friendship with Wendy. And even Stan he's wearing that Mabel sweater. That's a visual symbol of; he's softened up, he's embraced family, he doesn't need to be the tough guy all the time."
#gravity falls#stanley pines#stan pines#stanford pines#ford pines#mabel pines#dipper pines#soos ramirez#fiddleford mcgucket#i haven't even gone through all the eps for this lmao i decided this was way too much#anyway gravity falls is a story of found family and moving on from abuse and hurt#it's about growing up but keeping that childish wonder with you#and also how romance is overrated lol#like seriously so much of the family is chasing after crushes and that form of love#but in the end all they need is each other and learning to love themselves#stan hating himself while actually loving being who he is hurts me real bad tho...

I wish love were enough! I wish it counted for anything at all!
Something I feel goes often goes unrecognized in discussion of Harry's Osborn is the fact the he is the Only Child of a Single Parent.
In my experience/observation (both real and fictional) the only child/single parent bond is so inexorable it's hard to fully comprehend. Few other things will bind two people together in such a way.
Like many familial relationships, it's full of a thousand little hurts that will probably never get brought up again. Sometimes you let the relationship go by the wayside in pursuit of your own life goals because you take it for granted that family will always be around. But there's a unique flavor to it.
Deep down inside you there's an awareness that it's Just The Two Of You. For the child, it may have it may have been just the two of you from your very earliest memories. Sure, you know other people. There are extended family and friends and maybe the parent has a romatic partner or two. But at the end of the day, in your home, in your hearts (something you carry with no matter where you go) the two of you are all you have and all you feel you can really depend on.
A world in which the two of you aren't together is almost impossible to picture and you don't want to to try, even in the moments you wish you could just get away from each other.
Like all love, it'll make you behave selfishly and irrationally at times.
And it'll really make you DEFENSIVE. If you complain a bit about your dad being a dickhead while deep down wondering if he really even cares about you, that's one thing, but if anyone says a word against him in your presence you have to backtrakc. You have to argue in his defense because he's all you have and you're all he has.
Look, guys. It has been years since Harry and Norman Osborn have gotten along or been able to really enjoy each other's company, if they ever could. But if anything happened to the other they would kill everyone in this room and then themselves, do you understand what I'm saying?
#i am referencing 'a softer world' in 2024 and i will probably do so forever#it's poignant and fitting here#'it may not make things better. it doesn't save anyone. but it IS there.'#bro they might as well have started digging harry's grave right after they buried norman#his dad's death set him on the path of vengeance and his fate was sealed#much respect to winterinhimring for writing one of the post-nwh norman redemption arcs i actually enjoy#if i had the motivation/inspiration/courage to try it myself i would be unable to go without mentioning all of this#it's important to my reading of the relationship

I think it’s really sweet how the whole family just goes on outings they seem like a tight unit . It's really underrated how good of a support system both Tom and Z have like with their level of success it’s rare to find such a loyal set of friends and family. That’s why their business is never out there . I mean even new additions like Clark etc don’t use them for clout I remember Jacob’s girlfriend who was trying everything to post them during NWH cause she knew fans would follow her to keep up with them.
I agree, it’s very rare specially for actors who started young to have a good support system and parents that do not treat them like a money machine, no wonder they seem to be so level headed and outside of the weird stuff in that Hollywood World

I wish more fics let Peter be an asshole, let him lose his temper and be a hostile hissing cat more often, let him be a BITCH, because his temper in the comics is something that's really been missing from all three of his live action adaptions. The closest was maybe Peter 3 getting a little high on power and bullying Flash back, but also not really (also bully Maguire/Venom Peter, which obviously was not meant to be true to him, I'm talking about Peter's actual Inner Bitch, not symbiote induced bitchiness.)
Modern Peter is very sweet and kind, but come on please he's also got the capacity to be such a cunt and I think after the MCU fandom has babied him so hard with the Ir0nd@d bullshit, still treating him like he's his 14-year-old Civil War self rather than the 22-year-old he is by now in the MCU's timeline (5 year Snap time removed ofc), it'll be so welcome. He's lost his entire family, he's died and come back, he's kicked Thanos in the face, come this close to murdering someone, and he's had everyone who ever knew him forget him...
Let Peter be a bitter adult in your post-NWH fics, he's capable of nuance being both a hopeful soul with willpower so strong it's considered a superpower while also being a complete bitch when the situation calls for it or just when he's fucking sick of people's shit. Let him act like a delightfully mean bitch once in a while, and not just in unrealistic anti-Team Cap power fantasy fics.
Please, please, please stop writing Peter like he's still 14 unless your fic is actually set in CACW or Homecoming, the man will be like 24-25 by the time Spider-Man 4 comes out.
#peter parker#mcu#let peter be an asshole he's not ALWAYS a cutie little sunshine uwu boy#he can be a good person and a pure soul while still having bite he doesn't have to STILL act like tony stark's hyperactive mini me to be#spiderman#spiderman 4#mcu fanfic gripes

post venom:the last dance theory. stick with me here… venom is still alive. just not as a cockroach.
there’s still a part of him left in the mcu as we saw in the nwh post credits. so since the symbiotes have a hive mind, it’s possible that venoms consciousness is in that part left behind or was transferred to it.
what if the plot of spider man 4 involves this version of venom? apparently it’s set after avengers 5/6 so by then spidey would have met america chavez (multiverse traveler). what if venom helps spidey to defeat the villain with the promise of being sent back to his own universe?
movie ends with venom being sent back to his own universe and just waking eddie up at 4am like “im back. listen to this crazy shit that happened”.
that way marvel get their spider man & venom movie. tom hardy doesn’t have to come back for anything more than a end credit or one reunion scene if he doesn’t want to. and we get our happy ending :)
i expect someone has probably already come up with this theory and im just repeating it in a much more nonsensical and confused way. im in denial that their story ended like that 😭
#let me live in my delusions#someone probably already came up with this#so credits to them <3#venom the last dance#venom theory#eddie brock#venom symbiote

Proposition (Pt 1)
Pairing: mcu!spiderman x blackcat
Warnings: post nwh, lonely Peter Parker, alterations to canon comics, mature themes, violence, mentions of death, maybe smut? Minors dni
Summary: after infiltrating the avengers records, Felicia finds out Spider-Man’s identity after the memory wipe, and offers to help him in exchange for…
“Fucking hell!” Peter groans as he enters his apartment through the window. He crawls over to his freezer to get something to use as an ice pack. He sets it on the counter and shoots a web to turn on the light and pulls off his mask with a sigh. He flinches once he hears an unfamiliar voice. “You know you really should think about getting a better lock for your door… or at least a deadbolt. It was way too easy to get in here.”
The Intruder was a woman with white hair in all black. She had a mask on (which barely concealed anything— in Peter’s opinion at least).
“Who the hell are you?” As she stood up he shot a web at one hand to keep her where she sat but it ricocheted and got his hand on the fridge. “Struggling with your webs, Parker?” He clenched his jaw.
“Just the only person who really knows who you are… but don’t worry; I won’t tell.” She walked to him and slid one finger along his jawline.
“What do you want?” She spun around to grab the pack of frozen vegetables and wrapped it in a towel, afterwards turning to get a rag and running it under cold water. “How do you know where everything is?” Peter asked. She shrugs, “I’ve been here for a while, a few porn videos worth- not that I’ve been watching porn! That would be totally unladylike.” She starts to ramble, admittedly, Peter thinks it’s cute.
She shakes her head and gets back to what she was originally talking about, “That’s not why I came here— look, I know who you are. Peter Parker: attended Midtown High, orphaned and raised by his aunt May who recently passed— my condolences, by the way, she seemed amazing— you also are extremely intelligent, inventive, kinda nerdy, thinks of classic movies as old, mentored by Tony Stark, asked to join the Avengers at only 15– somehow Tony wasn’t charged with child endangerment— but refused the offer, you’re also the primary reason Tony Stark agreed to help the Avengers ‘unblip’ everyone, but most importantly: you are Spiderman.”
Peter’s mind spins, “how do you know that?” Strange casted the spell only a few months ago, but there’s no way she could have figured out his identity that quickly. “Does that really matter?” She tilts her chin. “Yes!”
Peter runs his had through his hair with a sigh, “Sorry… I just… How do you know who I am?”
She straightened out her hoodie, “I hacks into the Avengers secret files. And I’m not a bad guy…” she sighs.
“Could’ve fooled me.” Peter scoffs and puts the bag of frozen peas on his brow.
The girl hesitates, “Please Peter, I need your help.”
“You gotta funny way of showing it.”
“Desperate times.”
“Why are you so desperate?” Peter pulls a beer from his fridge. No, he’s 21, but the guy he got the fake ID from was perfectly willing to give him one in exchange for an autograph from Spider-Man for his kid.
“Aren’t you 18— never mind,” she starts, “I want you to put my dad in jail.” At that, Peter nearly spits out his beer.
“And why should I do that?” He asks as he sits at his table with the girl quickly following.
“Because he’s a criminal!” She pleads. “His name is Walter Hardy and he’s not a pleasant guy. He’s a burglar.”
Peter looks her up and down skeptically, “I suspect the apple doesn’t fall far?”
The girl groans, “Peter, please! I can’t keep living with him! If he makes me hack into one more security system I might die— or worse— I won’t be able to graduate!”
“How old are you?”
“I’m supposed to graduate high school this year, and I’ve been saving up for college but if he finds out he’ll take it from me! Please!”
Peter remembers that desperation to get to college, all the work it takes to save up— and he knows what it’s like for all the hard work to be worthless. So he’s thinking about it. “What did you say your name was?”
“Felicia.”
“Alright, Felicia Hardy. Why haven’t you called the police?”
She rolls her eyes, “The police have been after him for years— at least since my mom went back to Russia… or England— I’m not sure where she ran to, but that’s besides the point.” She tangents quite a bit, Peter notices.
“Your mom left?”
Felicia nods, “During the blip. I started learning to code and Dad got the bright idea to use my newfound skill to break into the Starks’. Mom said that was the last straw and left. But I guess she forgot about me or something…” It’s silent for a moment. “I was 15.”
This girl and Peter had led two very different lives. Hers was full of lies and red since she was young; and even though Peter was an orphan, before and after his parents death he always had someone there for him to help him out.
“Please just think about it. I’ll do anything.” She begs with her hands together.
Peter just takes another sip of beer. He still thinks beer is absolutely disgusting but he’s not gonna let his face show that.
“I can’t make you a new suit— one that doesn’t get ripped up so easily, o-or give you leads on over criminals— like scorpion! Or Jackel, or Rhino, or—”
“Or some other animal?”
“Peter, please.” She grabs her bag and pulls out a ripped piece of paper with a phone number scribbled on it and some cash and puts them on the table. “Just think about it.” And with that, she gets up to leave.
“I’m not gonna do it for money!” Peter calls out as she opens the door
“It’s not for that, it’s for you to buy a deadbolt.” She winks before shutting the door behind her.
Peter goes to lock the door and uses his web shooter to seal it shut before grabbing his glasses, one of the few things that survived Goblin’s attacks.
“Edith?”
“Hello Peter. How can I help you today?” Edith asks.
“Give any information you have on Walter Hardy.”

how would you rate the MCU's use of alternate realities so far? as someone who's done that before and done it well, imo
oh, terrible, there hasn't been one version of it yet that I think has been done well. there are, for example, individual What If episodes that I've liked, but by and large those haven't been the episodes that have contributed to the wider What If plot (which I think is done very poorly and is designed to drive me, personally, insane). DSMOM didn't handle its alternate realities well, Loki S1 (I haven't seen S2) obviously rewired my brain but then I didn't really like how they handled most of the season, and the stinger at the end of The Marvels -- well, it's a stinger, you know? it doesn't tell us anything until we get the next thing. and that's it, right? in the greater MCU? I might be missing something, but unless we're counting the Quantumania post-credits that I'm pretty sure Marvel is trying to ignore in pure panic about the Jonathan Majors situation there's not actually anything...wait, I forgot about Spider-Man: No Way Home.
As a movie I think it's basically fine, but it (and to a lesser extent Loki) set up a precedent that I think the MCU is really struggling with in its treatment of alternate universes, which is whether alternate versions of mainline MCU characters (for various reasons I really dislike the term variant, so I don't use it) should be played by the same actors. and the fact that the MCU doesn't know how to deal with this is a big problem, way more so on a fundamental level than the whole cameo deal. because the thing is, they need the name and face recognition of the known actors -- on a practical level, because that's the person that the audience is attached to, which is why they can cheat by doing what NWH (and, I'm assuming, Deadpool & Wolverine, which I haven't seen yet) does and use actors/characters from older Marvel non-MCU films; at least some of the audience already knows them. like, am I going to be attached to a MCU Steve Rogers that isn't played by Chris Evans or a Natasha Romanoff that isn't played by Scarlett Johansson? honestly, no -- and I know this because I don't have emotional reactions to the animated versions of the characters, whether in What If? or in non-MCU Marvel animated stuff; I literally don't register them as the same character. I register them as a Nat or Steve, but not the Nat or Steve.
(sidebar: this may partially just be my issue, I'm super aural; going back to my SW days I don't register the TCW versions of the PT characters as the same characters either. as a Anakin or Obi-Wan or Padme, but not the same Anakin or Obi-Wan or Padme. my tolerance for this sort of thing is considerably lower now than it was during my SW days, partially because of how SW has handled the animation-live action transition. some of that has spilled over into how I process the MCU. no, I'm not thrilled about it either and I'm not going to poke to see how much, I just know that it's there.)
NWH and Loki both cast different actors as different versions of the same character, and then DSMOM and The Marvels didn't (Loki actually did both, tbh, and Quantumania rode its coattails) and now here we are. I think Marvel really does not know how to deal with this; on one level, it's just straight-up confusing to the audience. And that kind of kicks over into my other issue with how they've been dealing with alternate universes, which is a completely different way than how most fanfic writers deal with alternate universes. And by most fanfic writers I mean me, though I'm absolutely not the only fic writer who does this.
it's the "what is an AU" problem.
so I write what I call single point divergence AUs -- what if one thing (big or small) changes and various consequences cascade from that. I'm very, very strict about this. I use the same base worldbuilding for every universe, I use the same consistent rules of the MCU up until whatever my divergence point is, everything else in that universe is the same unless the difference can be linked back to that original divergence point. (I also have an internal MCU divergence point where I treat anything from canon after that point as weak canon at best, because I am genuinely convinced that there's an in-universe split even if Marvel never confirms this.) I'm very serious about this. I know the canon that I work with inside and out; if I have to choose between two contradicting pieces of canon, because Marvel has contradicted itself a few times, I will go with what I think makes the most logical sense based on all of the other evidence around it. I have thought everything through backwards, forwards, and sideways because I want that AU and its consequences to be rock solid. I don't do "wouldn't it be neat if --" unless I can back it up because otherwise it won't hold water for me. I will always see the weak spots and they'll always make me nuts; it will not be structurally sound for me and I can't work with that. I'm a little more extreme about it than your average fic writer, but many writers do single point divergence AUs, because most fic writers actually care a lot about canon. which is why they're writing fanfic about it!
the actual MCU does not do that. the actual MCU does a combo of "wouldn't it be neat if --" and "wouldn't it be fucked up if --" but with only the barest groundwork or support. I will fight What If in a Waffle House parking lot, because WI masquerades as single point divergence but is actually "wouldn't it be neat if --" Specifically designed to drive me, personally, insane. NWH also does "wouldn't it be neat if --" but at least they were sincere about it, I don't think DSMOM actually thought about it at all. With What If it's incredibly obvious what they thought was stupid in the mainline MCU.
they're also using the alternate universes as a shortcut to bring in non-mainline MCU characters and properties and frankly I hate that because I think it's weakening what the MCU's greatest strength has always been.
anyway, this is a lot of rambling and I'm not sure I actually came to a coherent point anywhere, but yeah. the MCU's treatment of alternate universes makes me really sad and a little upset, because I love alternate universes and treated well they're devastating. but the MCU -- and this is actually true for comics as well -- does not handle them the same way most fic writers do. in fact, the only genre that handles AUs the way that most fic writers (who are doing divergence, either single point or otherwise, not like...coffeeshop AUs) do is alternate history. which is why I always say that historical fiction is the closest genre to fanfiction.

okay so i never see you talk about this and ive been DYING TO KNOW, what is frat!peter past relationship trauma? and past trauma in general cause what's up with lauren?
i remember reading a drabble or one shot where you almost almost said something but then went back as if nothing happened.
is it cause frat!peter is set post nwh? are you gonna explore this in UNI?
sorry if this is a dumb question and its just because of nwh events 😭
i was gatekeeping buuuuut::
peter had a girlfriend when he was in high school, around sixteen/seventeen. they dated for about a year and he walked into his best friends apartment (right across from peter's) and caught them in the act.
they had been messing around for like seven months out of the year peter dated her and he lost all ounce of trust in one moment. his best friend and his girlfriend doing the worst thing they could've done. (but what killed peter is that neither of them said sorry.)
also, his ex was terrible. she was abusive in all ways but physical, it took him a little while to realize he didn't really love her. so, he doesn't really know what love feels like..... or does he?
lauren is his ex-best friends younger sister. (she's cool and was unaware of what happened and when she found out she stopped talking to her brother for seven months. - the same amount of time he fucked around w peter's girlfriend. after peter found this out he swore he'd never cut her out of his life, he was just gonna keep her at a distance.)

Hii, I'm sorry for bothering you guys again but if it's alright, do you guys have any post nwh where everyone forget about Peter temporary?
here’s some recommendations for you, enjoy
O Brother, Where Art Thou? by theskeptileptic
8 year-old Morgan is struggling after the death of her mom. Her dad is working non-stop and her extended family of emotionally constipated superheroes are just as uncomfortable with her grief as their own. To top it off, she can't stop dreaming about a brother she's never had and all the trouble he might be in. When she convinces Tony to take her with him on a work trip to Caltech, she meets a student who looks a lot like the boy in her dreams. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem very interested in her. Good thing her dad always knows what to do. A sort of No Way Home, Everyone Lives (Except May and Pepper) Fix It story, where Morgan channels major Pepper Potts vibes, Tony channels major concerned Dad vibes, and Peter channels major college age-Tony Stark vibes. Served with a splash of angst, a heap of trauma, and a sprig of making adults take proper care of one depressed spider child.
Peter Parker's Tapeworm by Ginevra_Benci
Everyone forgets that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Everyone includes Peter Parker.
The world kept you like a secret, but I kept you like an oath by for_the_night
NWH SPOILERS At 23:37 Doctor Strange casts a spell to make the universe forget Peter Parker. At 23:36 Tony Stark's heart stops for three minutes. When he comes to, no one remembers his kid, but you best believe he's going to do everything he can figure out why. He isn't going to lose his Spider-ling again.
Long Story Short (It Was A Bad Time) Or AIs Don't Forget by peacockgirl
Turns out magic doesn't affect AIs. Karen is Peter's only link to his old life, and helps him hold on when he gets low. Meanwhile, in Upstate New York, Tony struggles with the inexplicable certainty that he's lost a kid. Until Peter gets hurt, and Karen tells FRIDAY ... Set in that wonderful AU world where Tony survives Endgame, and our boy (eventually) gets all the hugs he needs and deserves.
Fond absences by frostysunflowers
The thing is, Morgan can’t really remember when she and Daddy started visiting the donut store. She just remembers being there one snowy day before Christmas, a bright pink frosty donut in her hand, Daddy sipping on his coffee that Mommy says he still drinks too much of, and Michelle and Ned, before she knew their names, looking over some big glossy books that had pictures of people in dark red jumpers on the front. Another boy had been there too. He looked sad, really sad, and very tired, like he could fall asleep at any moment. or Magic spells are strong, but love is so much stronger.

Summary: Stuck in a sinister time-line, you see more of the wizard that holds you captive. Christine and you bond more to a level of understanding. Meanwhile the Peter's and Dr. Strange are trying to figure out where you might be. Till an accident sets a certain faith in motion. [series list]
The chains rattled loudly against the floor. With puff after puff after puff you tried to pull at your restrains. It was pointless but you needed to try anyways. Tensing your jaw, you pulled again. And again and again. Groaning loud in frustration afterwards. -"It's no use." - Christine said with a soft sigh. Looking at her own restraints. -"I have to keep trying."- you replied with another pull. Arms weak they dropped down with a heavy exhale. -"I just have too..."- you finished wanting to have another go at it but your arms were not obeying. Christine looked pitiful your way.
Exhaling loud as she let her head fall back against the wall. -"There is no simple escape from this."- she breathed out touching her forehead. -"I'm sorry Stephen dragged you into this."- it felt weird seeing her apologize to you on his behalf. He should be the one apologizing. You seated yourself a bit better, biting your lip briefly. -"How... how did you get involved with the wizard?"- you asked curious to her story. Christine took a deep breath, fiddling with her fingers nervously.
"Stephen and I... worked together... a long time ago."- she started explaining. -"I... I shan't deny there were any feelings... but Stephen's greed and desire for more was the thing that pushed me further away from him. I had moved on, engaged to another..."- Christine fell silent for a moment. Biting back her tears. -"He couldn't cope with that..."- you filled in seeing her nod shakily. -"He did not..." - she answered, pulling her knees to her chest.
You pulled yours up to your chest as well. Holding your knees in comfort. -"Please don't find me Peter."- you whispered to yourself. Unsure what Strange would do once Peter would return. Peter Parker from another earth. A Peter Parker that had not been in love with MJ, but with Y/n. An Y/n he had lost in this world. Christine turned more to you with a sorrowful smile. Trying to keep herself cheerful despite the situation. -"So what is this Spiderman like?"- she asked making you chuckle. Christine pulled her shoulder up once you looked, not really sure what to talk about else.
"Well... he's... someone I recognize from school... I think" - you replied thoughtfully. You noticed Christine quirk her eyebrow up. It felt too complex and complicated to explain to her. Not sure what to say else, you shook your head to shake the silly thought away. Your attention got drawn to the sanctuary. It looked familiar as if it was a foggy memory.
Yet it was different. More darker and gloomier than the foggy memory gave away. Almost sinister. Oh you so hoped Peter wouldn’t come and find you. Sudden movements made Christine and you freeze. Loud deep humming echoed through the haunted halls. Christine moved further away from you. You backed more up against the wall.
Knowing it was him. Coming down the stairs. His gaze falling on the both of you. – “Hello Ladies.” – he said so heartfully it made you sick. Knowing it was just a sugarcoating for what laid below. Stephen approached, moving his hands behind his back. – “Still no Spiderman?” – he asked you. You answered with a shake of your head. – “Shame.” – he answered deeply. He stepped more into the light as he appeared different. Greyer in his face than before.
As if his features were darkening and hollowing him out. He noticed you were staring at him, making him chuckle. – “A little cost…” – he replied looking at his own hand. Seeing it had more wrinkles on it. He came kneeling before you, making you crawl back. – “I’m counting on your Spiderman to come.” – Stephen told you with a smirk. – “He’ll never come.” – You bit back.
Stephen’s expression tensed. His hand shot out, grabbing you firm by your chin. – “For your sake I hope he does!” – Stephen made clear. Giving your airpipe a good squeeze. You chocked and struggled in his grip. – “Stephen!” – Christine screamed out. Stephen only chuckled, squeezing just that little extra. Gasping for breath, you started thumping your fist on his arm to release.
He kept squeezing just that bit further till he suddenly let go. Your body fell to the side, coughing loud and grasping for air. The air feeling like burn in your lungs. – “You’re a monster.” – Christine shouted at him, disgusted by the man she once knew. Stephen got up, straightening his posture.
“One day you’ll understand I’m doing this for you.” – he replied combing his fingers through his hair. He folded his hands behind his back once more. Turning around to head back upstairs. Christine waited a save amount of time before calling out to you. – “Y/n are you alright?” – she asked worriedly.
You shakily nodded, still laying on the ground. Horrified that he could easily kill you. The familiar sounds echoed from upstairs. Making you close your eyes tight. Horrid sounds followed by a scream and magic being sucked in or drained. Christine looked away, sobbing quietly at the monster Stephen was becoming.
Crying quietly you knew there’d come a day where he’d have no more magic to absorb. Where he will grow angry and impatient of Spiderman not coming. For he needed something desperately from Spiderman.
The watch drew his attention. Making Peter tilt his head slightly to observe it more. The screen moving with a flow motion of orange. – “Interesting watch.” – Dr. Strange pointed out coming to join Peter. Peter moved his hand behind his back out of instinct. Strange held his hands up in defence that he meant no harm. Peter slowly revealed his arm once more. – “Strange gave it to me.” – Peter explained holding his wrist to uphold the watch more. – “Your Strange.” – Dr. Strange specified to be certain.
Peter nodded lowering his hand to his knee. – “I…I mean my other me made that?” – Dr. Strange asked curious. – “No.” – Peter chuckled out. – “An ant-man… funny right.” – he looked up to Strange, seeing he wasn’t laughing at all. – “Scott! We have him here too.” – Stephen replied with a smile. – “So… so what does it do?” – He then asked. Peter showed him the watch better. – “It brought me to Y/n and it will take me back.” – he explained.
“Interesting.” – Stephen mumbled. Peter, Peter from this earth cleared his throat loud. – “If you two might be done with your chattering, may I remind you that we are still looking for Y/n.” – Peter called out. – “Unless you just want to return without her.” – Peter one added with a jealous mark. – “Never!” – Peter three answered loud getting up. – “Alright, alright boys.” – Stephen settled, getting up as well. Peter three and one kept glaring at each other. Strange patted Peter three on his back to stop.
“Don’t you have something to find her?” – Peter one asked a bit snappy as it made Strange quirk his eyebrow up at the tone this kid was talking to him. – “I shall see.” – he replied in a serious tone. Peter three followed him. – “So what earth are you from kid?” – Strange asked curious. – “Earth-120703.” – Peter answered feeling more familiar with this Strange than his own.
Stephen hummed loud. Going through his artifacts, trying to see if any of them would help. Peter one was going through stuff on the other side, staying as far away from Peter three. They searched the entire floor with no results. Strange sighed deep, rubbing his forehead. – “I…I need to think.” – he said going to sit down. The holder around his neck, bumping against his chest. It made him look down at the holder keeping the time-stone save.
Quirking his eyebrow up, he seated himself better. – “No disturbance.” – he let out with a glare at the Peter’s. They both nodded. Watching as Stephen opened the holder for the time-stone to be revealed. He started to float, hover over the flooring. Green circles of magic slithering around his wrists. His eyes closed as he focused.
Peter three started to sway his leg back and forth to kill the time. Peter one kept a close eye on him. Seeing him as a torn in his eye. – “You still plan on abducting Y/n.” – he said. Peter three turned round fazed by his speaking. – “I…I’m not abducting her.” – he replied. – “Yes you are!” – Peter one answered loudly, getting up.
“No…I’m not…” – Peter three clarified. – “Oh right you just want to take her to your earth just because you are lonely. Well guess what Peter, the world isn’t fair!” – Peter one gave Peter three a little shove. – “Hey where is this coming from?” – Peter three asked. It saddened him to see Peter act like that. He looked at him like a brother.
Along with the other Peter he missed dearly. Out of frustration he shoved Peter back. Peter clenched his jaw. He rushed up to him, grabbing him by the waist to tackle. Peter three stood his ground, feet sturdy on the ground. Getting shoved a bit further away with Peter still around him. – “Knock it off man!” – Peter three called out trying to get him off.
Peter one grunted loud trying to tackle him again. Peter three shoved Peter away from him. He stumbled back nearly falling to his back. – “The wizard’s busy.” – Peter three pointed out for him to stop. Peter one panted loud. – “Promise me you won’t take her.” – Peter one called out needing to hear those words. Peter three gave him a pained expression. – “You know I can’t do that.” - he responded with grief. Peter one clenched his jaw shooting a web up.
Letting himself swing he kicked Peter three back against the wall. Peter’s back hit the wall, his wrist smashing against the hardness. Peter one’s eyes widened seeing him slowly disappear through a portal before his body fell to the ground. He blinked shocked when Peter three was gone. Stephen gasped loud, falling back down on his bottom. Peter one rushed over to him to keep him steady.
“Where…where’s Peter…” – he breathed out looking all worried at Peter. – “Where’s the other Peter?” – he panted out grabbing Peter by his shoulder. Peter swallowed nervously, looking back at the empty space Peter fell not so long ago. Stephen looked as well, eyes wide with horror. Ready to curse.
Peter three fell through nothingness till his body smacked against something hard. Groaning loud in pain, he slowly pulled himself up by his hands. Footsteps neared as it made him blink rapidly. A pair of shoes came in sight as he tried to adjust his vision. His gaze going higher till his vision sharpened on a vicious smile. – “I’ve been waiting for you Peter.”

i love love your venture bros posts. youre really attentive to the vibes
a character dynamic i think was underexplored but had potential was billy and gary. what do you make of it?
Omg thank you so so much!! I’m really glad you think so! my post are mostly me spitballing hoping I’m getting the vibes right!
I actually made a post about this here! I should tag my posts tbh but I always got more thoughts I just think that post is a better summary of my thoughts. But here’s some more it’s VERY long:
They agree on most things except for the core idea of their livelihood. Which is wild because out of many characters I think Billy and Gary get along VERY well. They speak the same language and love the “game”. (I call it a game but the entire cape business) I don’t think they agree though on everything outside of nerd stuff.
I have this thought in my head maybe it’s a scale or a graph or something but it’s basically Believers, Nonbelievers, middlemen when it comes to this hero stuff and Gary and Billy are definitely Believers. But I think after Gary whole journey as a henchman, now a second/arch himself I think the idea of what makes something “Heroic” very firm in scale for him vs Billy who’s still sorta new at the whole thing but flexible.
I hope this makes sense but despite appearances Gary is rigid and Billy is flexible. I think while the morpho arc was sick (def loved the entire plot unfolding) Gary definitely had a hard time being on a grey area. He is either a hero (Sphinx!) or an arch. He feels haunted by killing all his fellow arches. He’s loyal af but doesn’t like the middle ground (his relationship with shelia, being a hit man, even 21 death you can say)
Billy is “flexible” in that sense that good is no small or big act. I’m forgetting the episode but the one where they fight Cloud over the ball, Monstroso surgery, especially Pete White as a person. Billy like superman genuinely would do good, it’s an oath it doesn’t matter to who he would. That comic run where Lex Luther is dying and gets superman to help him find a cure is VERY Billy. To Billy he is so firm to that one thing (two technically, hippocratic oath?whatever ykwim) it makes him apply it to literally everyone regardless of where he is. While Gary is very set on the us vs them side, that’s why he made such a good henchman leader.
I think when they interact it’s that trope of people in a mineshaft on their carts having a great time then an abrupt turn separating them, then they meet up again. Which I think deeply defines both characters despite being incredibly similar.
If I was summoned to a universe where I was told by Doc and Jackson that I could write a VB season but only when Billy and Gary interact aside from writing a Bromance for the ages that would get avid 21/24 fans mad at me (I think Gary and Billy would become like really REALLY into each other big “oh wow how come we never hanged out before?” “Idk!” Vibes) i would like to write them fighting a little because I think their small disagreements would be very telling about who they are as characters because they are the most genuine fan part of either side.
Gary is for every person who LOVES a hater ass villain (I cheered when green goblin killed aunt May in NWH I think Gary would, but still have issues with NWH ik I did anyways!) and Billy is for someone who LOVES a good wins no matter what (voltron, power rangers, he-man etc)
To me it’s not how Billy and Gary agree that’s interesting (big 2 nerds just in a mind meld moment, they’re also too similar ik why they were written to NEVER interact now, too alike) it’s when they don’t that is fun and I think it would happen the most at their dnd nights and when they watch shows together. Which pisses off everyone else (Malcom, shelia, white) bc they can’t hear anything as an argument is happening.
Also Billy wins most of the trivia stuff they do because he’s a bit older than Gary, this is Billy rodeo. I think Gary having someone as a friend who gets him is good for him honestly, he’s a third? Sorta? To his bosses/not boss anymore and I think he needs friends that he can really nerd out with.
Other fun things they do:
Hang out at each other places so often others remember the dates they see each other due to arching schedules
Follow each other blogs/have a podcast (movies, tv, and shows of influence throughout the ages guest star Pete white is on for music. Malcom calls in also surprisingly about music) either in podcast format or blog format doesn’t matter which but they work on it together
Have a show they follow together/watch together
Try to get Dean and Hank into stuff not intentionally their energy is infectious
ESPN announcers when on the field (when it’s not about them they’re doing commentary on the arch/protag tactics or at least commentary about Rusty and Malcom)
Wave/greet each other when they aren’t “on” in an arch or enjoy it too much when they’re “on”
Small acts of arching did happen between them. Cloud felt cheated on, Pete got freaked out, Billy and Gary settled on being friends instead. Malcolm thought it was Billy flirting with Gary, (confused but that’s his boy! Who wouldn’t flirt with Gary!) and Rusty thought Billy was going through a rough patch with White again but this time he really lost Billy (Awkward 1on1 where Rusty talks about cherishing and appreciating people while White gets so freaked out he runs to Billy)
They had a vibe, I feel like they would’ve hooked up or something once maybe bc I’m gay but I want to believe that. But in general they got a vibe together!
That’s all I got for now, if you read all this again thank you for your ask and I’m gonna tag all my VB thoughts once I think of a good tag!

This is on my mind over the increasingly beefy NWH analysis and critique post I have cooking but man, I’d be down with the concept of Norman and Otto being familiar with each other if they had just made it mean something. Like throwing that idea in, I come in with something of a chekhov’s gun expectation that they’ll use it for something, especially in the structure this movie sets up. I have the expectation their familiarity with each other would be used, that they could be used to progress each others development by knowing things no other character would about each other or using them as foils like the first two movies already do in a way. Instead, it just becomes another way that this movie seemed to rely almost entirely on the spectacle to get people’s interest while also falling apart under scrutiny. In that regard, I understand why the dynamic is so popular in fandom—there aren’t really many things that capture fandom interest more than an interesting concept left vague or underdeveloped by the source material. You’re given the ability to define and and mold that potential for yourself. All the same, I still consider it a failing on Disney’s part, another way they cared more about being flashy than having anything mean anything.

Hmm, let’s see. Tom saying M&M is the best movie he’s ever seen during Cherry press. Tom talking about how much he loves Euphoria during Uncharted/NWH press. Tom singing to The Greatest Showman soundtrack at the top of his lungs. Him posting her at the Dune premiere to his page and his whole family showing up to support her. Visiting her on every set since KC Undercover. Did I miss any?
I love receipts, he’s always been supportive 🥺
