Pentious successfully kills Adam with his death ray and saves the day
Pentious and his eggbois could feel their hearts pounding as the ray warmed up and charged until finally...
"Fire!"
The blast blew through Adam, there were bits left behind of him to prove he was dead.
Pentious could feel his body shaking as he took it all in, his eggbois chanting cheers of victory,
"WE DID IT! WE DID IT BOSS! WE WIN!"
Pentious could feel prideful tears well up.
"A-Yeah! YEAH!"
He grinned to himself and parked the air ship carefully so they could all file out. He wasnt expecting to be hug tackled by Charlie and squeezed with affection then Vaggie and everyone else until he was floored by them.
"Shit! Oof!"
There was plenty of praise and a few your an idiot but we love you anyway. He loved being labeled a hero, it felt so good.
The news drones scanned the area and focused on Pentious finally filing out with Charlie and Vaggie supporting him as they all took a good look at the area. It was a mess.
The crew broke out in song as they all repaired the hotel anew hanging Sir Pentious' Portrait on the lobby wall where everyone who enters will see. His egg bois admired the craftmanship of everything.
Pentious didnt find Cherri bomb anywhere, like she was avoiding him. He sat outside after a bit still high off his victory followed by Charlie and Vaggie who just wanted to be sure he was alright. They just hugged him as they sat close to him helping him relax.
The two noticed and understood who he was waiting for and knew Cherri had ran off some time ago unable to handle the event. As a sorta make up prize for it they both nodded and kissed his cheek at the same time making his hood pop up fully and blush severely. Didnt matter if they were his friends it's still absolutely enjoyable and maybe a little hot.
The two ladies laughed and lightly teased him doing it a few more times which served to plaster one of his cheeks with Charlie's black lipstick. Dinner time was a little awkward but Lucifer wasnt even slightly bothered, why would he?
Sir Pentious had a new view on life, and a new taste and standard in women. New taste that didnt include Cherri bomb.
((Send asks for more stories or continuations, even if you werent the asker I'll keep going no questions.((

Azalea, tiger lily, lavender?
azalea— what is the most recent song you listened to? how do you feel about it?
I got my Shaunajackie playlist on shuffle and currentlly A House In Nebraska by Ethel Cain is playing! It's a big one for the Feels, not just purely about those two (tho there's this really good edit with it on here that plays in my head whenever the second verse starts in), but also the whole small-town feeling of loss. I've not experienced anything irl that compares, but placing yourself within the narrative gets me in a big OOF.
tigerlily— do you have any favorite quotes from any movies, tv shows, books, or poetry? (or from people in real life)
OKAY OKAY HERE COMES
There's two in this post I made. From Gabriel Garcia Marquez and the Nell Crain monologue from Hill House (love that shit ugh).
They were all in love with dyin' They were drinking from a fountain That was pouring like an avalanche Coming down the mountain - from "Pepper" by Butthole Surfers
I will go in and have the courage to die. Look, these gates are the gates of Death. I greet them, and pray that I may meet a Deft and mortal stroke so that I may close my Eyes as my blood ebbs in an easy death. - last lines from the Kassandra monologue in Agamemnon by Aeschylus
"Tommy Ross, in the fading moments of his life now, took Carrie's hand and grinned at her, thinking that Susie's intuition had been very right. Somehow she grinned back. Tommy (she was right and i love her well i love this one too this carrie she is beautiful and it's right and i love all of them the light the light in her eyes) - from Carrie (the book) by Stephen King
HÉLOÏSE You know everything. MARIANNE Forgive me. I would hate to be in your place. HÉLOÏSE We're in the same place. Exactly the same place Come here. Sit down. Take a look. [With a glance, Héloïse indicates the easel. Marianne's empty space. Facing her.] HÉLOÏSE If you look at me, who am I looking at? - from Portrait of a Lady on Fire (dir. Céline Sciamma).
And probably much more that I can't come up with at the moment.
lavender— what is currently on your mind (aside from this ask game)?
I went on a twitter dive (I got a yj lurk account now *sigh*) and like any other person I'm wondering if my french is good enough to talk to sophie nélisse and not embarass myself lol
flower-themed asks

my thoughts on TUA season 2
(spoilers, obviously)
- opened with Klaus and Ben, my kings. Klaus’s hair looks so weird straightened while short
- AWESOME opening soundtrack
- seeing all their powers so controlled makes me wonder how they leveled up to that skill in the alternate timeline. like the only time we saw Klaus use the powers of other ghosts in the correct timeline was when two of them caught him falling out of the sky. however Diego did end up controlling bullets and Allison used her voice to technically kill one of the Swedes
- the homeless man screaming Allison’s name alongside Luther... funny shit
- big teddy bear Hazel
- Elliot was fucking awesome i think he was a great addition as a side character. rip tho :(
- honestly i don’t understand why Diego would WANT to save JFK. like it’s not that big of a deal. does he not understand what messing with the timeline can do??
- Lila... impeccable
- Sissy and Vanya... impeccable <3
- yeah and fuck u Carl
- ugh, Klaus’s beard. disgusting <3
- Ben and Klaus definitely act like they should be, given that they’ve been stuck with each other for over a decade. i’ve seen some people calling Klaus an asshole for not telling his siblings about Ben, which is completely understandable (cause he was an asshole), but I’m guessing it was because he was afraid? that sharing Ben with his siblings would mean that he would lose him to them, or his siblings would find him selfish, or they would ask something of him that he couldn’t give. if that makes sense
- that ghost bitch comment was funny tho
- to the guy who called Klaus pretty boy at the bar: sir you don’t know what you’re getting into
- Raymond!! he’s such a sweetheart, i really liked him in the show. i’m really happy that Allison has found a bit of normalcy (as normal as the 1960s Civil Rights movement could be). it shows how passionate she is about what she believes in: even though she knows the movement is far from over, even back in 2019, she’s not gonna abandon it
- Allison staring at the moon every night: either thinking about Luther or how the moon blows them all up. maybe both
- of course Luther would be working for Jack Ruby
- awesome cinematography during the mental asylum escape
- yeah it makes sense that the Handler would still be alive. she was a cool villain. although it would’ve been awesome to see how evil a fish could be
- Diego’s plan was pretty stupid. that’s my boy
- honestly they revealed how Klaus started a cult really well by having one of his followers find him at jail. Klaus, ever the musical aficionado, of course writes his scripture based off of pop songs
- Raymond and Klaus meeting!! that was cool to see how their paths connected
- Lila painting Elliot’s toenails green. ugh i love that crazy bitch
- i LOVE how they incorporated the umbrella man!! tbh i’ve always believed he was the one behind the assassination. Lee Harvey Oswald was framed
- honestly a bit understandable that Luther was planning on killing Vanya? cause he had no idea who she is now, but them reuniting was actually really sweet. he’s grown up so much
- the Swedes and their cats.
- the Umbrella company building with the nuclear family mannequins... creepy, awesome shit
- baby pogo baby pogo baby pogo baby pogo
- shanked diego shanked diego shanked diego shanked diego
- did anyone else get vibes from Klaus’s episode opening that he was an escort to the old woman? like how he was being shown off at her arm or something and getting out of jail from a call from the governor. idk maybe the lady was just very taken with him, as anyone would be
- Elliot, our helpful king
- Allison and Klaus’s reunion was so sweet!! i’m so glad they got to interact so much more in this season
- Ben getting Raymond out through a haunting... hilarious
- sweet intimate moment between Lila and Diego
- Ray meeting Luther was hilarious, but i do feel for the poor guy. i mean i’m not in love with my adoptive sister but still
- the sit-in was really well done and beautiful while terrible. the ‘riot’ that ensued was very appropriate for today’s setting
- D-Dave
- honestly i was scared that Klaus was gonna be overly attracted to him or whatever, which would be weird cause he’s years younger than Klaus, but honestly, at the core he just wanted to save Dave’s life. even if it means never meeting him in a different timeline. he truly loved Dave. and that ptsd flashback was done so well
- i knew Lila wasn’t trustworthy but i didn’t REALLY expect that!
- Vanya and Luther talking with each other, Luther admitting the apocalypse wasn’t all her fault. beautiful
- the Majestic 12 reminds me of the conspiracy theory that only a few families control basically everything in the world. the Majestic 12 may be based off of that, idk
- idk about everyone else but Klaus’s scorpion and the frog story made total sense to me! frogs ARE bitches
- the diner scene.... ugh. it really shows that the two of them did fall in love and they did stupid in love things, like talking about their family, about why Dave wanted to join, favorite colors, favorite foods, etc. however that’s seen later on when Dave visits the compound
- yes it’s very disheartening when Klaus is attacked, but honestly i think it had to happen, just like the riot had to happen. the 60s weren’t a fun time for lgbt people and poc. it was only going to be a matter of time before the show HAD to acknowledge the consequences of Klaus’s ‘flamboyancy’ in 1963 Texas. it doesn’t make it right or easy to see, but it’s realistic.
- it also makes sense that Klaus fell off the wagon after experiencing something like that. yes we all would’ve liked him to stay sober, but sobriety and recovery aren’t linear.
- Allison is so happy with Ray can we please drop this pseudo-incest plotline let’s MOVE ON
- Texas Grace ! who is not actually Grace rip (i think? i was a bit confused lol)
- the scene with Harlan running off was really upsetting but we got to see those weird light particles that we saw in the first season
- Pogo Pogo Pogo Pogo
- Klaus being a dick to Ben again, as brothers do. i do feel bad for Ben though it must be sooo frustrating. that scene with him and Allison was really sweet and funny tho
- i just have to say that Luther and Diego are so fucking funny this season it’s awesome. like there are a LOT of good lines overall by everyone but they’re hilarious. “At least he didn’t shank my ass” “no bro, he shanked your heart”“Dads part of a sinister CABAL that’s plotting on killing the president.” “a caBAL?”“You two still a thing? *leans in* do we need to talk?” “No, she’s married.” “Woah dude... that’s rough.” and countless others
- the sibling reunion!!
- Klaus really does get left out of everything tbh
- Ben :(
- sisters and Klaus!! that was so awesome to see. and Klaus’s hairpins, Vanya saying she’s gonna tell Sissy she loves her, their dance sequence, Klaus calling Allison out on that incest. beautiful
- the fucking Swedish cover of Hello was PERFECT i mean i was sad for the Swedes but it was hilarious. there were a couple beautiful shots of the boat on fire though
- god it must’ve been so traumatizing for Allison to be thrust into such a hostile place with no voice and no way to contact her family
-  idk about you guys but long live Team Zero
- calling Ben that he was becoming their father was a bit uncalled for
- the fact that Klaus didn’t help Dave’s chances, and in fact escalated Dave’s own timeline.. his trembling hands... robert sheehan is an amazing actor
- the Black president bit lmaoo loved it
- the way Reginald spoke to Diego.. i’m gonna throw hands with an old man
- Klaus LITERALLY looked like he was having a seizure and they all just... played it off??
- poor, poor Carl. nah fuck him lol
- that bloody opening scene was awesome! and thank god Five got to say fuck. the fact that it was about a candy bar makes too much sense
- Robert Sheehan acting as Ben: amazing showstopping spectacular he’s so talented
- the whole multiple Fives and Luther bit was honestly really funny, and i immensely respect smaller Five over bigger Five.
- yes Klaus, you survived a family of seven. you got this
- not sad about Carl dying one bit!
- Ben... that was such a beautiful scene. not just the content of the scene, but the cinematography. Ben fading away... Vanya hugging him... ugh. the main takeaway i had from that scene is that at the core of it all, Ben and Klaus love each other immensely. they have a weird, dysfunctional, fucked up relationship, where Klaus is an asshole and Ben definitely shouldn’t of possessed him without his consent, but they’re still brothers, and Ben forgives him.
- oof Ben’s funeral was hard. also was it just me or did Klaus’s kid actor sound weird? like it sounded like Robert was dubbing his lines
- all the siblings back together again!!!! Klaus going with Vanya to save Harlan!! Vanya telling him Ben forgives him and that it wasn’t Klaus’s fault Ben got stuck with him!! everyone in the car!!! be still my beating heart
- yeah didn’t see Lila having powers coming tbh. i really feel bad for her she’s had such a rough and traumatic life, especially with the Handler as her only parental figure
- the Swede brother and Five putting down their weapons: “enough.” the Swede wanted revenge for his brothers - an eye for an eye, but there was a mutual understanding between the two of them: they would do anything for their family. if the Swede hurts one of the Hargreeves, Five would never stop coming after him. i thought it was very beautiful
- mmm Reggie’s foreshadowing coming into play. proud of u Five
- the ending was so beautiful. everyone got closure in some type of way. except now Klaus is alone with nothing but his dog tags :(
- EMO BEN HAHAHA WTFFF?? is Lila in the sparrow academy? why was Ben’s portrait over the mantle piece? did Five disappear?? is the sparrow academy just older versions of the siblings who stuck around?? so many questions
FINAL THOUGHTS
- Ellen Page’s acting consistently blows me away. she is amazing
- beautiful cinematography, funny writing, pretty good acting. i didn’t like the soundtrack as much as i did the first season’s, but some of it wasn’t bad.
- i’m glad ben got peace, but i’m also glad justin min isn’t gone for good. his social media presence is too vital for us
- i swear to god if they keep treating klaus as a joke and don’t let him get any actual development like everyone else had (he barely got closure with Dave, he reconciled with Ben through a second party) next season, i’m gonna riot. PLEASE i want to learn more about his powers now that Ben is gone. what happened to seeing tons of ghosts when he’s sober??
- Luther and Diego were probably my favorite duo of the season, I’m so happy that they’ve reconciled and are bonding more.
- just seeing Vanya grow and be happy was amazing
all in all, really wonderful season. i probably liked it better than the first one. now it’s time to consume fanfiction and maybe finish my own (check out “god doesn’t want him and neither does the devil” on ao3!)

Unidentifiable Drawings (Dean Thomas x Reader)
Summary: reader whats to know what Dean is drawing, and a whole lotta unfortunate timing occurs.
-
"Whatcha drawing Dean?" I lie down dramatically and fan my face. It's the middle of summer and it couldn't be more hot.
"Nothing!" My best friend shifts his drawing pad so it's out of my view.
"Awe come on Dean. I'll help you!" Dean starts laughing at my proposal.
"The last time you and Seamus tried to help with my drawings you set four of them on fire and you couldn't stop throwing up pencils." I grin at the memory.
"In my defence, that was solely Seamus." Dean scoffs at my weak argument.
"You tried to transfigure Seamus' bed into a set of pencils and instead you threw up for three days." I shove Dean lightly and laugh.
"Yeah but-" Dean cuts me off.
"You're so full of crap. Don't even try to pretend you didn't threaten to jinx me if I didn't let you help." Dean rolls his eyes and resumes drawing.
"Come on! Tell me!" I whine. Dean was my first friend at Hogwarts, and he's so amazing. He can draw unbelievably well, is super smart and is definitely the cutest student here. There's no way in hell I'm ruining our friendship by having a crush on him.
It sucks so much to have a crush. It eats you away until you can't look at that person without reacting in some way. Whether it's blushing bright red, bolting from the room like a bloody madman or putting yourself in a full body bind so you can't run over and hug them, you're screwed either way.
The thing about having a crush is that every little thing they do makes you think they like you. Let's be real, there is not a big chance they'll like you back, especially if their as perfect as Dean. That's just the way the cookie crumbles I suppose.
"Are you okay?" Deans concerned voice snaps me out of my thoughts.
"Hm? Just dandy." I grin at him and try to steal a glance at his parchment. Dean chuckles, a deep, throaty chuckle that makes my insides melt as he moves away.
"No fair!" I pout and cross my arms. Dean just waves a hand and starts drawing again.
"Fine then. I'm going to help Seamus." Dean's head shoots up.
"What? What are you helping him with?" He growls slightly and my eyes widen. Please don't blush, please don't blush, I beg myself. Too bad. I feel a blush creeping up on my cheeks.
"Nothing that's important." I stand up and quickly look away to hide my flushing cheeks. Dean grabs my hand and yanks me down beside him.
"I'm serious. What are you doing with him? Are you two dating?" I burst out laughing, at the thought of dating Seamus who is like a brother to me, and because my blush has faded.
"What? No of course not! Seamus is my bestfriend and is a brother to me!" I try to keep it cool. Shoot, if he thinks I like Seamus then I'm more far in the friendzone than Ginny is in Harry's. She doesn't understand he's gay.
"Then why have you stopped hanging out with me. You're practically adjoined at the hip with him!" Deans eyes have a glint in them I haven't see before.
"He's my bestfriend!" This is not going as planned.
"Then what am I? Your enemy?" Dean gives me a cold glare. Oh Merlin.
"What? No, of course not! You're my bestfriend too!"
"Then why do you ignore me completely!" Dean explodes. He finally snaps.
"I thought we had something. I really did. Clearly you would rather not have anything to do with me. I'll leave you to smother Seamus." Dean abruptly stands up, scrunching his drawing up and throwing it. He grabs his pencils and walks off, leaving me in his wake.
My hands won't stop shaking. Hot tears streak down my face as I wearily pick up Deans abandoned drawing. I uncrumple it and smooth it out, letting out a soft whimper as I see what Dean was drawing.
It was me, but on paper I looked different. I looked somewhat perfect. Dean had nailed my eyes, and there was a bright sparkle in them. My lips were curled into a smile and I looked so happy.
I fold the paper slowly and sadly, regretting the turn our conversation took. I place the drawing that now means the world to me in my robes pocket and stand up steadily.
I wipe my face of the tears streaming down it as I'm walking to the Gryffindor common room but they don't seem to stop. I keep my head down and continuously brush the tears off my stained cheeks.
"Oof!" I gasp as I run into someone on my way.
"Are you okay? What happened? Oh Merlin this is not okay!" My best (girl) friend exclaims. I lift my gaze up from the floor into startling brown eyes.
"Oh. Oh. Oh! It's Dean isn't it?" Hermione knows who my crush is. It's not like you can keep that from the person who knows you inside out. She knows what makes me tick. Seamus knows me as equally as Hermione does.
"Yeah." I manage to get out.
"Right. We are going to go to our dorm. Time for operation A. Aka, getting Dean to like you back." Hermione links our arms and we begin walking to my original destination.
"Mione! Stop saying his name aloud! What if someone hears?" Hermione winces.
"Sorry. Normally I put silencing charms up when we're with Seamus." I nod.
"Race you to the portrait?" I propose.
"Oh you're on!" Hermione gives me a shove backwards before bolting towards the fat lady. I race after her but to my dismay she wins.
"Chivalrous cookies." Hermione said the password that the whole of Gryffindor had thought of and we stepped through the portrait hole.
"Are you okay?"
"Blimey you look a right mess!"
"Ronald!" Harry and Ron are instantly by our side and I sniffle.
"I know Ron. If this is considered fine then okey dokey Harry." I reply to Harry's question and Ron's unfortunate truth.
"We're going to the girls dorms to sort this out. Care to join us?" Ron scrunched up his nose at Hermiones invitation but Harry claps his hands.
"Yeah! Lets go and show him what he's missing out on!" I roll my eyes.
"Guys you don't even know what happened." I point out.
"Aaaand that's why you're going to tell us in the dorms." Hermione tugs on my hand and practically manhandles me up the stairs. Ron and Harry follow closely behind.
Hermione shuts the door and mutters several locking charms and a silencing charm.
"Right. What exactly happened?" I throw myself ungraciously across my bed and groan.
"We got into a fight. Basically about how I never talk to him anymore and he feels like he's my enemy, not my bestfriend." Harry hugs me from behind.
"It's okay. I get into fights all the time with my one true love." Harry lets go and clutches his hands to his heart dramatically.
"Draco and Harry sitting in a tree." Harry gives me a shove and I laugh.
"Stop! If he hears I am so dead." He panics.
"Anyways," Hermione tactfully interrupts, "how exactly are we going to solve this?" The thought of what happened earlier spurs my mind into action and I promptly break down crying.
"Awe honey! It's okay!" Harry coos and holds my head against his shoulder. I let out a whimper and throw my arms around his shoulder. A banging at the door interrupts us.
"Oh shoot." Hermione sighs and undoes the several spells on the door, as well as the silencing charm. Seamus stands in the doorway.
"Oh." He gives me an odd look.
"I didn't know you liked Harry." I shake my head frantically and pull myself out of Harry's arms.
"I don't!" I throw my arms around Seamus and let out a strangled sob.
"I know. He told me." Seamus rubs my back soothingly.
"Seamus!" A shriek from the doorway makes me freeze.
"You said you didn't, said you wouldn't." Dean whispered in shock.
"D-Dean?" I mumble. Dean looked sickened. He ran a hand through his hair and walked away, muttering something.
Seamus pushed me off him and went straight after Dean.
"Harry, Ronald, we've got studying in the library to do." Hermione and the two boys left, shooting worried and upset glances at me.
I gingerly climb into my bed and wrap the sheets around me in a cocoon. Normally I would have Seamus or Dean or Hermione to comfort me when I'm sad.
Silent sobs make my body shake as the thought and very possible reality of losing my bestfriends come crashing down on me. Hot tears cover my face and my hands shake when I wipe them away.
After some time of snivelling and softly crying my bed dips down and strong arms wrap around my bundled up form.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." The person whispers over and over again as they squeeze me tightly. The tears stop flowing and the absence of warmth is a huge problem as the person pulls away. Dean.
"I never meant for this to happen. Honestly." I sit up.
"It's not your fault Dean. It never has been. It's all mine for thinking that if I ignored you the problem would go away." I give a shattered smile to Dean.
"What problem?" Oh Merlin. This was a mistake.
"You! You're the problem Dean! You won't stop occupying my thoughts and I can't get my head around it!" I glare at Dean, as though this is all his fault.
"What do you mean?"
"Oh you know very well what I mean Dean Thomas! I am not saying it."
"Say it." Aggravating fool.
"No."
"Say it."
"No!"
"Say it."
"For Godrics sake! I like you Dean! And not in the way you like me. I like your strangely soft hands, the way you light up a room, and the countless ways you love your friends. I shouldn’t have said anything, fuck.” I shut my eyes tightly, and before I could turn away I felt the warm hands of Dean Thomas cup my face.
"I've been waiting two years to do this." Dean whispered as he leaned in and brushed his lips against mine. I froze for a second, before following him and leaning in as well.

I have decided to post my list of all the stuff I watched this year (that I kept track of anyway!), so you can understand why I am incredibly not productive at reading, writing, or keeping my house clean.
Italics are used to indicate rewatches!
Movies Watched In 2020
January 1. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Ehh!) 2. The Biggest Little Farm (yay! nature! i guess.) 3. Cats (oof - but also, amazing!) 4. Like A Boss (I honestly barely remember what this is at this point. A relic from an age where we went to the movies just because we were bored!) 5. The Turning (NOPE! Thank God we got Bly Manor later in the year!) 6. You, Me, and Him (Very promising premise. Lucy Punch and David Tennant are there, even. But BAD!!!!!!!!) 7. Dolittle (Going to the movies just because you’re bored: Part 2) 8. Miss Americana (YES!!!!!) 9. THE VELOCIPASTOR (YES!!!!!!) February 10. Knives Out (a good ‘un) 11. A Little Princess (the BEST ‘un) 12. Enchanted (always an important rewatch!) 13. Birds of Prey (x2!) (THE ONLY WAY TO WATCH BIRDS OF PREY. can you believe that in this calendar year, i got to go see birds of prey in the theatre twice?) 14. Austenland (ALWAYS!) 15. Vita & Virginia (found it kind of a slog but might try it again someday) 16. Honey Boy (my boyfriend wanted to watch it okay) 17. Brittany Runs A Marathon (a decent dramedy time!) 18. Ideal Home (like sherlock holmes always called irene adler the woman, i always call this movie The Movie) 19. To All The Boys 2 (okay, with pretty colors and stuff!) 20. In the Shadow of Þerindë
Young Feanor discovers the cause of his mother’s condition
-
Fëanáro was content. His father gave him free rein of the palace, and Fëanáro was allowed to go wherever he liked so long as there was no danger of him hurting himself. He had mapped out all the little nooks and crannies from the kitchens to the highest rooms, and found many excellent hiding spots for a young elf to conceal himself in should he wish.
There was a set of rooms, however, that he loved most, and those were his mother’s personal chambers. She was gone, now. Fëanáro had visited her body many times in the gardens of Lórien with his father, but her hröa was cold and still no matter how he attempted to rouse her. He always brought a drawing or something he made to show her, but her eyes would never open to see it. When he was too young to understand that she would not wake, he would pepper her face with kisses, and pat at her with his tiny hands in an attempt to get her to look at him. But she never would.
Fëanáro loved her rooms the most, for they were filled with her works. He would run his fingers over the bright embroidery, that shone with such colours and was in such fine detail. Even at a younger age, he knew it to be special.
He had much of her work himself. His father could not usually bear to speak of his mother, but from what he had said when he could, Fëanáro knew that in the year before his birth his mother had spent all her time obsessively embroidering and sewing clothes for him. Most of her work had been in stitching on rich and beautiful fabrics that he could have outfits made in by other seamstresses as he grew older. There was enough to last until he was beyond fully grown.
It was as though she had known her time was short.
Of course, Fëanáro still had Owl too, beloved and battered, though he felt he was a little old to carry it around now. He still found comfort in it when necessary though.
Fëanáro was currently sat in his favourite spot in the gardens. He had his bound sketchbook for him, and was practicing busily. His father had arranged for the great loremaster Rúmil to tutor him in sarati, and the letters had captured Fëanáro like nothing before.
He was putting the finishing touches to a slightly wobbly line of sarati when he heard the voices. It wasn’t unusual for courtiers to wander this part of the gardens, but his alcove was secluded, and his curious ears pricked up to listen to something children might not be meant to hear.
“Honestly,” a lady’s voice was saying, “King Finwë was looking absolutely delicious this morning.”
Her companions emitted various levels of agreeing noises.
“All that lovely hair,” sighed a second female voice. “His fëa must be so strong.”
Fëanáro screwed up his face in disgust. Of course his father was the strongest and most handsome, but he was not for the likes of these people. He was for Ammë.
“Of course,” said a slightly nasal male voice, “that’s part of the problem, isn’t it.”
The two ladies hushed him, sounding suddenly fearful. “Quiet!” said the first, “There’s a ban on speaking of it!”
The male voice laughed. “Please, this part of the gardens is always empty. And anyway, everyone knows what happened. Such a shame, I’d do anything to get my hands on a Serindë original.” Fëanáro scowled at the mispronunciation of her title, but his interest was piqued.
“Except the prince,” said the second lady. “Poor mite.”
Fëanáro did not even dare to breathe. What was it that he did not know that all others did?
The first voice snorted. ”Poor mite?” she said incredulously. “The Valar called his birth a product of Arda Marred. If you ask me he’s no better than the fallen Vala, Melkor.”
The second lady gasped. “How could you say such a thing?” she exclaimed. Fëanáro agreed with her. His head was spinning. The Valar had said that about him?
The male voice spoke up again, nasal tones smug. “Please, Rielle, don’t act like you don’t think the same. Everyone knows the prince is the reason that Queen Míriel is dead. He consumed her very fëa, so that all that she is is lifeless and grey. That ill omen stole her energy for his own.”
Fëanáro dropped his charcoal. He could barely hear the first lady agreeing with the male. “Yes, it’s true,” she said. “Have you never touched him? His fëa is so bright that the very heat of it means his skin is hot like a stove.” She sniffed. “I suppose that’s what having two souls does to a person.”
Fëanáro slid off the bench with a thump.
“What was that?” cried one of the ladies, startled.
“I knew we should not have spoken of it,” said the first. “Come, let us leave before whoever is spying sees our faces.”
The trio bustled off noisily, leaving Fëanáro finally alone to sob.
-
It was getting towards Telperion waxing, and it was time for Finwë to find Fëanáro. It was a daily game the pair played. Fëanáro would be off in some hidden nook, and Finwë would track him down for dinner. Today, however, Fëanáro was in none of his usual spots and Finwë was becoming a little anxious. He had found Fëanáro’s art tools abandoned in his favourite garden alcove, so he flagged down a passing servant, who told him that the prince had been seen going into his mother’s rooms.
Finwë himself had not been in Míriel’s chambers since shutting up almost all her work inside. He could not bear to see most of it. It was the ultimate expression of the sheer life force she had had, the fire of her colours and the intensity of her designs.
Fëanor was in there, surrounded by tapestries. He had clearly been tearing through the bags in a fit of almost madness, trying to find something. He was sat with his back to Finwë, and laid in front of him was Míriel’s last project.
It had been intended to be a family portrait. Both Finwë and Míriel were stitched in minute detail, so real that Finwë could not stand to look at her embroidered face. But she had left a large space in her arms where she would have put Fëanáro.
“I don’t know what he will look like!” she had laughed, when he had questioned her about it. “Some days I think I should simply stitch myself holding a flame, for I feel that more strongly than anything.”
Soon after she had not the strength to even lift her needle, and it remained unfinished.
Fëanáro was running his small hand over the design again and again, feeling the difference in texture between the embroidery and the gaping hole.
“Fëanáro?” Finwë asked softly. The place felt almost sacred, and he did not laugh loudly at discovering his son as he might usually. The lack of cheerful greeting was highly disconcerting too.
Fëanáro turned to look up at him, and Finwë immediately knelt to gather him into a hug on seeing his red rimmed eyes. He had clearly been crying for some time.
His son’s voice was hoarse from weeping when he finally spoke, face muffled against Finwë’s chest.
“Did I kill Ammë?” he asked. Finwë felt his heart drop.
“What?” he asked, hoping he had misheard. He loosened the embrace to allow Fëanáro to pull back slightly and look him in the eyes.
“Did. I. Kill. Ammë?” Fëanáro enunciated clearly and deliberately, staring Finwë down.
Finwë was suddenly incandescently angry. He had worked so hard to try to ensure that Fëanáro was shielded from this. Who had told him? Finwë had endeavoured for these last years to keep his son forever smiling her smile. His rage was interrupted by Fëanáro squirming to get free.
“I knew it!” he cried, tears running freshly down his face. “I killed her and you hate me!”
Finwë realised it was the first time Fëanáro had ever seen him angry and immediately scrambled to fix it, pulling Fëanáro back to his chest despite his protestations.
“No, no, no,” Finwë said, burying his face in Fëanáro’s dark hair. It wasn’t the same colour as Míriel’s, but the texture was almost identical. He felt Fëanáro’s sobs more than heard them. “I’m not angry at you, my son. I’m angry for you.”
Slowly, tentatively, Fëanáro’s arms encircled him, returning the embrace.
“Did I kill her, Atya?” Fëanáro asked him, still pressed close.
Finwë still wasn’t ready to deal with this. “No,” he said emphatically. “I don’t care what whoever it was said, you did not kill her.”
“Then what did?” asked Fëanáro.
“Your mother was-“ Finwë stopped to swallow down a lump in his own throat. “She was exhausted.”
“Because of me,”  countered Fëanáro.
”No!” cried Finwë. He let Fëanáro go again to look at him properly. “Listen to me,” he said. “They don’t understand. No one understands. It was no one’s fault but He who marred the world’s.”
It was the wrong thing to say. Fëanáro broke into fresh tears.
“So they were right? My birth is the product of Arda Marred?” he sobbed.
Finwe cradled Fëanáro’s chin in his hands, looking into his eyes.
“Hear me this, Finwion,” he said, and watched Fëanáro’s eyes widen at the name that he had not used since deciding to go by his mother-name. “You are my son, and I would have no other. Even if it would bring your mother back, I would cast you aside for nothing. Nothing I say can change the thoughts you have already decided on about the circumstances of your birth, but know you that you could kill a thousand people of our blood and I would love you all the same.”
Fëanáro sniffled slightly, and Finwë decided to press his luck with a joke. “But please don’t, because I don’t know what I’d do if you killed a thousand people.”
That made Fëanáro at least crack a wobbly smile. “Now then,” Finwë continued, forcing down his own pain to paste on a smile of his own. “I believe that dinner tonight is your favourite,” he said. “Something so spicy that the rest of us want to weep!”
Fëanáro’s smile became a true one, and Finwë stood and lifted his son onto his hip. “Oof!” he said. “You’re getting too big for this now. Soon you’ll be carrying me!”
They left the room of beautiful things behind them, and Finwë did not let himself look back.

eee fun! Thanks for tagging me @nevermindirah
Tag 9 people you’d like to know better / catch up with.
Last song: Probably something by Gang of Youths. It’s become my quarantine go-to which is actually not the best because I listen and I am compromised. Also possibly Ladies by Fiona Apple, which was the what my friends played on New Years while have a zoom “getting ready to go nowhere” night
Last Movie: Portrait of a Lady on Fire. Hoooo shit it was good. I know I’m late to the party on this movie (I’m usually late to the party on good movies/TV) but any discussion on re-interpretations of Orpheus and Eurydice are exactly what I want always. (”Turn around” fuck just drag my heart around the walls of Troy already, I love it) ((also, @nevermindirah where did you watch Hartenstraat?!))
Currently watching: Just finished Legend of Korra, so I don’t really have a new show yet. I re-picked up Sex Education, and am almost done with the second season, but am having some strong cringe from Otis’ tomfoolery. Also re-picked up Critical Role, because it’s good and familiar
Currently reading: The Dream Thieves (#2 in The Raven Cycle, thank you @alltherightwords) and listening to the audiobook of The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk because I saw it referenced in nevermindirah’s fic and it was available on my public library’s Libby right before making a 12 hr drive to see parents for the holidays. As I said to Yara, “deep oofs with this book”
Currently craving: good tea and sleepovers. Or like, doesn’t have to be a sleepover but a late night just chatting with friends in person. Also game nights! Okay, I have to stop myself now because I will think of too many other things
I no longer know who my mutuals are because I use tumblr to shout into the void and at Yara, sooo if you feel like it, do this and tag me! @alltherightwords @roshanimal @gnukiwi @yawpkatsi

Knight Plays: Pillars of Eternity
Part I || Part II || Part III || Part IV
This is my first time chronicling my playthrough of a game, but it seems like @brightoncemore has fun doing it and it would be neat to save my reactions for posterity. I think this is a good game to start with! I’m going into this run about 98 percent blind, considering that all I know prior to playing is that there’s an elf guy named Aloth in it at some point.
Anyway, time to start my first run of this game~
First thoughts:
It definitely perfected the “oldschool RPG” look. I’m impressed by how nostalgic AND well-put together this character model style is! Nice. Oh man, though, I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the options given to me right off the bat.
When in doubt in these situations, I usually just go wood elf rogue. I appreciate that the game tells you what attributes are good to put points in for the chosen class - especially since they aren’t using the typical DnD ones.
I’m picking culture PURELY based on what armor I like best because even though there’s helpful descriptions about the cultures I don’t know enough about the setting yet to know what’s “normal” or “unusual” for any of these...
Aedyr seems neat, though?
SO, MEET BRYN:
Tumblr media
Time for actual gameplay commentary, now -
I have a bad feeling about this stop. The fact that everyone keeps warning Bryn about “evil winds” and stuff has my Writer’s Sense tingling and telling me “there’s gonna be an evil wind.”
“Water’s not going anywhere.” Maybe not, but I feel like you might.
(I was proven right pretty quick, oops.)
Ow, poor Heodan. That wound sounds BAD. Don’t die on me, bud.
Oh, a script event?! INTERESTING. I like this.
Heodan, AAAH - I managed to save you AGAIN, but you’re not doing too great, are you? OOF.
I feel like this situation with these guys is setting up a “one or the other” type thing. If I press on, Heodan’s gonna die. If I rest... Calisca’s going to leave. Oh well, I don’t want Heodan’s death on my hands.
Oh. Well. Not only did she run, but she ran right through a fire trap. :T I don’t feel TOO bad, though. That was on HER, not ME...
Now I prove how bad I am at being a rogue by accidentally setting off three fire traps myself while trying to get that waterskin back, WHOOPS.
I don’t like the sound of this ritual thing -
And Heodan’s dead. WELL. I’m on my own now, I guess.
Skipping ahead through some meadow wandering to the first town, Gilded Vale. Sounds like a nice, cozy starting town...
...oh man, that’s a lot of bodies on that tree. Yikes. I’d like to take back the “cozy” comment I just made.
Take back “nice,” too. This is creepy. What the heck is going on here...?
Oh, hello man with a face portrait. I’ve played enough RPGs to know that means you’re (probably) recruitable.
AND HELLO, ALOTH! Wow, I didn’t know he joined up so early! And he starts sounding more brogue when he’s MAD? Okay, I’m PREDICTABLE but HELLO, MY NEW FRIEND. (He’s probably going to be my favorite.)
Hm. He doesn’t like drinks. I SEE. I’m guessing there’s a story behind that, but whether it’s more “I’m a man of refined taste and this stuff is shit” or “I can’t hold my alcohol” I will have to find out later.
One creepy dream and talk with a dead dwarven lady later, Edér has joined the group as well~ He sounds familiar, though. *narrows eyes*
(Later learned that yep, Edér is voiced by Matt Mercer... and so is Aloth! Well then. INTERESTING.)
Time to run along now, away from Creepy Vale and to Caed Nua.
“I saw you in the flames.” Well, can’t say I like him but this rag-tag group is getting a little bigger.
AND ANOTHER - though I have to say, Kana seems WAY cooler than the Flames Man, Durance. (Is that a gun? HE USES A GUN? NEAT.)
