actually like... buck is not christopher's dad. he really isn't. he's helping eddie parent but he's not actually a parent himself. and i think trying to exaggerate buck's place in chris's life for the buddie of it all not only does a disservice to eddie as a father a lot of times but... to the buddie of it all. the fact that buck is not at all chris's dad right now but that chris and eddie are not only unfazed when he does but frequently invite him to touch the boundaries of fatherhood - that eddie says you were there for him when i couldn't be - speaks to the weirdness and all the things about them that they can't really name, and it doesn't really make sense to name it preemptively. buck is not christopher's dad but he wouldn't have to think twice about stepping into that role alongside eddie and eddie would let him - that's what's so insane!

Catra being anxious and having panic attacks over the bad things she did is actually counter productive to any hypothetical scenario where she is self reflecting and/or receiving constructive criticism.
Her potentially having crippling anxiety over being an asshole in the past PREVENTS and/or DELAYS any changes she might potentially make.
Making this character spiral over moral dilemmas does not inherently mean she’s actively working to change her ways. Her being afraid of facing her badness does not make her good; it simply means she has anxieties toward constructive criticism/dialogue.

"Soulsborne games arent non-accesible, its just that most of them are over a decade old and are products of its time, having worn down as games improve and grow but are still beloved even when they feel dated, and even if they dont add pause buttons, easy mode (theres literally only one mode and its in your hands to make it easier or harder) or non aggro modes its still a good game, its just that these are supposed to be challenging games and are loved for it. Not every game will hold your hand and do a long tutorial (Elden Ring was the first of its kind to add a throughout tutorial area!) and thats fine. These games can exist outside your niche and comfort area, they just arent for you, and thats okay. As a friend said, to change core aspects of the game is to change what the game is, a challenge. If you want the experience, theres tons of 100% walkthroughs with and or without commentary you can watch and enjoy easily to partake in it. You can partake in the fandom and not play the games too."
to the "Add a pause button, add an easy mode, add a non aggro mode" conversation that the "Soulsborne fandom is full of assholes (You wont find kind people if you come from a place of anger and spite)" people dont like

there was a time, esp after the 2nd drb ended, when everyone was holding their breath scared/excited that hypmic would introduce new divisions to their lineup and thank fck they didn’t lol, but i like to think in a roundabout way, they did give us a new one by allowing chuuoku to have a division like dynamic lol

Me desperately trying to find this so-called "bias" it often feels like a solid two thirds of this fandom claim that the HotD producers/writers have towards Rhaenyra when literally every single change to other characters has fundamentally come from minimizing/obfuscating/or otherwise reducing her narrative and overall characterization and character.
Yes, I'm sure this woman who they have invented continual bad decisions, internalized misogyny, blatant disregard for the people closest to her, ineptitude, blindspots, and blatant, borderline unbelievable public disdain for in their adaptation of her character; who's background as a victim of child abuse, of continual misogynistic psychological and eventual physical violence, who's love of both other women and her own womanhood, infamy in her charm and popularity and continual attempts (and yes, often failures) to rise above the positions she was forced into they have also ERASED...is actually someone they're going out of their way to portray sympathetically?
Oh, but they favor her because...idk they haven't shown her being violently raped or repeatedly physically abused? Because you believe they actually think that making her seem like an idiot who never knows or thinks about what she's doing is somehow favorable?? Because it seems like ANY of these changes have actually endeared her to the fandom much less the show's general audience??? I literally cannot explain it most of the time, it baffles me.
I know I shouldn't be because why should any of us ever be shocked by misogyny in media anymore? By the portrayal of a woman for a mass-media (and heavily desired male) audience that's reductive and hollow?? But it's simply unreal to see how so many people somehow believe that this was done out of some sort of benevolence or favoritism. That so many people believe any of the changes made in the opposite direction of, and often active opposition to Rhaenyra's portrayal in Fire and Blood, were made out of some sort of desire to make her a tangibly more sympathetic or broadly understandable character, is something I'm not sure I'll ever be able to fully understand.
Except, of course, in the view that I really hope not everyone who says this sort of thing actually believes; that a self-confident woman who exercises her own agency is such an affront that even an unsympathetic, inconsistent, reductive, and idiotic cardboard cutout of a character is still a more respectable alternative.

I came across the character Branwen* in my most recent play-through and was curious if she's supposed to be Inuit or not? It was just a bit unclear since she has a chin-stripe tattoo, a Welsh name, and comes from Gael (which I'm under the impression is supposed to be Norse inspired?) Neither the Welsh/Celts or Norse had tattoos like these and the imagery of such comes from the appropriation of Inuit kakiniit. It's unfortunately common, especially in the fantasy genre, think Yasha from Critical Role, and I wouldn't really blame you for not yet knowing better. Misguided or not, it's very damaging since these tattoos are a closed practice, and Inuit have asked us not to use them for non-indigenous characters. Some other cultures have similar tattoos, but these are specifically what are appropriated from in the "Norse aesthetic".
This could be a great opportunity to represent a community that's regularly misrepresentationed and appropriated from in the genre, though! I don't believe you had any ill intentions, if this is a mistake you've made, since you've done really well about a lot of other things so far.
Also, I've done a lot of research on the topic for my own world building and I can try to help if you have any questions!
Here's a list of Inuk creators and artists from my own following (on TikTok specifically):
kadlun
willow.allen
notdayle
shinanova
And fairy.gothparent (not indigenous) has some really educational content on the subject also!
I'm sorry I've misread or misinterpreted anything, and I hope none of this came off as aggressive! I'm just genuinely curious and want to help others do better!
hi :-) no worries, you are not aggressive at all. Branwen is not meant to be Inuit, nor is she meant to be Welsh or Norse. Gael and Adrania are just Fantasy Lands with their own lore & culture-- but with that being said, i am fully aware that the setting for TNP is very much giving medieval Europe, hahahaha. regardless, when i choose names they are mainly just because i like them, so i wouldn't put too much stock in them when reading.
same thing when i designed Branwen, the tattoo was mostly for the aesthetic and because i liked it. i was aware of a few different types of indigenous tattoos (like the Māori tāmoko as well as the Inuit kakiniit) at the time i chose the thick, solid line because i was purposefully trying to avoid conflating it directly with those indigenous tattoos. you're the first person to point this out to me and i appreciate it and it has made me reevaluate my decision to give her such a distinct tattoo. i wanted tattoos to be a big part of Gaelish culture & planned for them to be made with heavy lines & geometry, but in the end a lot of the designs are all over the place (Merry's are way more modern due to basing some of the designs around nautical/sailor tattoos with only a few geometric designs, while Lea's are strictly geometric runes meant for their alchemy)
i absolutely want to avoid misrepresenting these tattoos, especially since it was never my intention for this character to be interpreted as a part of any of the mentioned indigenous groups. this is a good reminder for myself that my work does not exist in a vacuum and regardless of my intentions, the names i choose & the designs i make still reflect my own personal biases and have implications outside of my story.
i appreciate you messaging me and sharing resources. and i always want to encourage people to do so! especially because in my worldbuilding for Gael and Adrania i am pulling inspiration from a lot of different places and a lot of other fantasy media. i've always intended for Adrania to be a "melting pot," with a lot of different influences as in-game cultures converge around their ports & trade routes, but that can also lead to me unintentionally harming real world groups & cultures in my interpretations. as much as i want to "build from scratch" it's just not possible, i will always be influenced by the society i live in, hence me including the tattoo to begin with because you're right, i have seen similar designs in other fantasy media & just didn't think much about it.
going forward i'll most likely just remove that tattoo from Branwen's design, and maybe give her a neck tattoo instead 🤔 just something different to distinguish it from those indigenous designs.

it's also so interesting to me to see reddit vs tumblr takes on Bad Batch stuff
so while 95% of us here on tumblr are certain that Clone "X-2" is Tech, it's the opposite on TBB reddit episode discussions
i'd say about 85% of them are certain it's Cody, and another 10% think it's a clone of Crosshair.
it's just... so interesting to see the differing (and strongly held) views of different fans 😏🤓
((and when i say "certain," i mean both parties are like really, it's-SO-obviously-him, certain about it lol. reddit is just as strongly convinced it's Cody as tumblr is with Tech!)

So sorry if this is exactly what the Clara theory is for Ruby, I haven't heard it I just know it's there.
What if Susan Twist is an older Clara? Meant to 'Save the Doctor' but they've all grown at this point? And the OG Clara who got her Tardis is Ruby's mom, and Ruby is part time lord or something. Very half baked theory. BUT! The Susan "twist" is a double twist. Susan Twist isn't Susan Foreman, her name itself is a red herring and Mrs. Flood is Susan. Still going off my theory that the "flood" name comes from the fact that Susan was abandoned by the river.

Do you think Nihil has been pegged by Sister at some point?
I hate to be a hater but… I don’t think so😔😔
OKAY. HEAR ME OUT.
I do think that Nihil is bisexual and is aware of that and has indeed had anal sex (bottoming obviously. He could not top for the life of him) with other men. But i think his sexuality is a huge mental barrier for him and still a great cause of discomfort for him. So in theory, he really wants Imperator to fuck him but is too embarrassed to let it happen.
However, with that being said I think Imperator eats Nihil’s ass. (CW: Intox) While he’s super high (like really really far gone), Nihil would be so cool with Sister fingering/rimming him and is basically begging her for it. Okay, maybe not begging, * don’t think you could torture that out of him but he’s all lazy and warm and rubbing his face against hers and he’s so handsy and trying to grab her hands to put them on him. He’s just dying for her touch and Sister knows exactly what he’s really asking for and obviously she gives it to him because:
a.) Basic answer, they’re partners. She wants him to feel good and (obviously) sees it’s something he struggles with so when she gets the chance she’s more than willing to treat it delicately to try and push him into a better place. Nihil is hers, body and soul, and ultimately she wants to experience every part of him. Romantic rimming if you will.
b.) SHE WANTS TO FUCK THAT MAN SOOOOOO BAD IT MAKES HER LOOK STUPID
Anyways, I could certainly see Older Imperator and Nihil trying out pegging at some point because, I mean, they’re old and bored and things aren’t exactly working as well as they used to soooooo might as well experiment. I’m stuck on this because old Nihil would go crazy for a prostate orgasm but he’s also pushing 80 and probably feeling the shame x10000.
In a beautiful world where Nihil wasn’t born in the 40s or at least maybe grew up in the church/free of a judgmental upbringing, he would absolutely take Imperator’s strap doggy style. Ass up he has no shame at all and he’s crying for it actually.

I'm sorry but, "fandom is activism" is one of the goofiest takes ever.
like Yes it is valid to take note of the fact that the biases that affect all of society are present within fandom spaces. that women are treated poorly both in the sense of characters, in the sense of content creators/celebrities, and in the sense of how normal people within these communities are treated.
but when we take that and Directly translate it to "if you don't make/consume enough content about fictional women then you're directly contributing to sexism" which then translates to "we have to directly contribute to Ending sexism by writing fanfic" it's just straight up gooberville
Tumblr media
"if your favorite troll is tavros you hate feminism"
like don't get me wrong, there's a genuine point to be made about how this attitude negatively impacts marginalized men, presenting it as inherently immoral when they largely use fan media to seek reflections of themselves when they otherwise don't see themselves elsewhere.
but the very core of the issue here is that it's just not how activism works. excuse me I need to destroy the industrial prison complex with supernatural fanfic
