not rly, the reason I left tumblr back in 2014 is because I had begun to find it really difficult to cope with social media as a general concept,

like when you think about it it is pretty unsettling that hundreds or even thousands of people are looking at your thoughts and feelings and then deliberating each time on whether not they approve of them, and if they do it’s fed back to you through your notifications. it’s kinda a sweet trap for people with a predilection for social anxiety since it offers a way to communicate without face-to-face interaction but as you become more engrossed in it it begins to pick at your over-awareness like a scab

on the topic of arranged marriages in the post-canon, my dumbest and most inescapable headcanon is that falin and kabru get lavander married

partially out of my love of lavander marriages and the historical tradition of queer men arranging marriages between their lovers and their sisters

and partially because every time i see a labru baby fanart i think "the rumor mill believes that falin and kabru had an affair and the king legitimized his sister's bastard as his heir" and the comedy of errors that would result from trying to cover up kabru's pregnancy/fake falin's is hilarious to me

There is just something special about this kid mc from Hori's old cancelled manga "Barrage" making an appearance in his current popular ongoing manga and saying "I may not be famous but I'm a hero too!"

I know Hori has carried some of his characters from his other stories over to bnha but this one, especially with this dialogue, is emotional to me

What are you even supposed to do after you finish reading something that cannot be beat. I felt like that after finishing Golden Kamuy, but now I'm really fucking feeling it after just finishing Usogui. That was the most insane incredible experience I've ever had reading a manga. I kneel.

You know what, I don't like to complain about stuff like this. I don't want to sound ungrateful of the attention my posts are getting.

But you know how there's a lot of talk around tumblr, from creators talking about how other tumblr users like their stuff but almost never reblog? Well, there's just something here.

That's a 1-to-5 ratio. And like, you know what? I get it. That one was a meta post with only two images on it, and I understand there are people who aren't interested in having long text posts on their blogs. I get that, and respect that. And hey, it's over 1k notes overall. That's something, right?

But in the SxF fandom in particular, I've noticed a kind of pessimistic stance since a big meta writer left the fandom after they received bullying. And I'm not saying we should ignore or forget the reason they left... but like, if you want to see people write metas, you can support meta writers.

Sadly I notice similar ratios in fanart posts. But I am motivated to keep writing metas because I am certified Analysis Gremlin™ so I'll keep writing no matter what; similarly, fanartists whose posts easily get 2 and 3 thousand notes are motivated to keep going even with such low ratios because hey. 3k notes, right?

But I acknowledge I am an outlier in this, and that there are meta writers who are just (or more) knowledgeable and capable of doing this, but for one reason or another, their posts don't get a lot of attention. Similarly, an artist with the same amount of skill and expression as the popular fanartists could have their art forgotten because people don't bother reblogging stuff they like. Both cases can lead to creators not sharing their creations anymore.

And yeah, metas might not be cool fanart, or heart-wrenching fanfics, or whatever, but meta writing still takes time and effort and we like interaction and acknowledgement just like any other creator out there. It's not like "I'll sit for hours to write this post after I've already sat for hours watching every little detail of the story, and I'll post it online not caring at all how much attention it gets." Whenever I see someone reblog a meta of mine and add the tag "great analysis!" or something similar, I get as giddy as I get when someone leaves a comment on a fanfic of mine. Just because a meta is a little more detached and may appear more "formal" than your average fanart or fanfic, it doesn't mean we as the writers of them are detached from the meta itself; we crave acknowledgement just like any other creator out there does.

So like, yeah. I'm not saying people should find this exact post I'm talking about and spam it with reblogs, nor that they should change the way they work and organize their blog. It's just that, as someone who joined tumblr ten years ago for the sole purpose of writing meta, I have noticed across all those years a big separation in how people interact with meta, and how they interact with fanfic and fanart. And by all means, fanfic and fanart deserve their praise! I'm not saying they don't. But meta posts do too. Literary analysis is a different kind of skill than drawing or creative writing, but it's still a skill, and treating meta posts as those you can just leave a like as a thumbs-up and then completely ignore... that's how you lose meta writers. When you show people that their posts aren't worth reblogging, eventually they stop making them. And can you blame them?

And to be honest, in comparison to my standing as a meta writer in my previous fandoms... I have the impression I'm among the "popular" meta writers in this fandom, despite being anime only and having less than half of the context manga readers have. Still, my posts get a "1 reblog for every 5 likes" ratio. Like, if my posts get such a low ratio, what chances do less popular blogs have?

So if you want more meta analysis, from people with various points of view and experiences, show your support by reblogging their metas.

I made a bunch of these because I have no chill. I think this series is super fucking cute and I love that it comes with an official playlist.

One of my favorite things about this manga, other than the adorable characters and the alternative lifestyle, is honestly...the BACKGROUND. I love that it's neon green! It's such an interesting stylistic choice, but somehow, it works perfectly. There's not a lot to say about the plot of this story because it's fairly straightforward: a girl becomes interested in a guy due to his coolness and their mutual love of rock music, and not only do they both discover the real person underneath their personas, they both develop new friendships with people who are newer to the alternative scene. All of the characters help each other find a safe place to enjoy music, to break through their fears of being judged, and the leads still fall in love with a girl without in-text homophobia being the major obstacles. I love the choice to have Aya and her friends be glitter-glamor gyaru's, an alternative subculture in their own right! I love that we get to see Narita become good friends with Mitsuki and that he completely supports (ships) them. I love Kanna and Joe's relationship still being amicable and fond despite their breakup. I love that Chizuru and Mao came to see why Aya had an interest in rock. I love that we get to see how gender non-conformity in young girls is treated. I love that Mitsuki's current crowd accepts her completely. I love the little parallel between Aya and Mistuki feeling left out; or the parallel of Mitsuki and Joe pulling away while consumed by writing music. I love that music drives all of them to seek out unique friendships. I just. Love how important music is to this story, as a huge music fan myself.

I decided to reread this because I just have so much fun with it. It's a GL/Shoujo Ai that I would 100% recommend!

When I switched from reading the My Happy Marriage manga to the light novels, I worried that doing so would diminish my experience reading the manga in the future. However! No words can accurately describe the heavy emotions I felt getting this:

People made such a big deal of the early shots of Diavolo/The Boss being a more generic "intimidating mobster in a fancy suit" guy (which of course turned out to be jarringly different to what he actually looks like) but tbh i think the most sensical explanation for it is that this is just how the characters imagined him to look like since they've never seen anything about him or his appearance. Like of course, for most of the story all they have to go off of is "Mafia Boss" so they'd fill in a mental image with whatever the generic idea of a "mafia boss" is.

I want to send a big thank you to my entire dash for reinforcing my suspicions that there is absolutely ZERO reason for me to ever bother reading the rest of the BNHA manga.

Horikoshi gives zero fucks at this point. I knew he checked out of his story a while ago, but damn.
