hi everyone, I've got some assets to share for my Poppy Playtime renpy fangame, Floodlights and Painted Skies!

Here's a sneak peek at some of the things you'll be collecting or seeing around in-game (as well as a little hello to our characters, with adorable art by @/ashabananabread on Twitter)!

All of these were made with Photoshop, Canva elements, and official MOB entertainment art and assets to keep the style of the game intact. Making so many of these has been such a fun stage of the project! I love exploring th story hidden away in the tapes and paperwork at Playtime Co., and I'm really hoping I convey that with this. There's plenty more to come!

Please note all of these pertain to my personal canon and don't 100% align with the actual story of Poppy Playtime! These are not official episodes, nor do I have the means to make animated episodes sadly, and concepts like Huggy-Hearts and the Playcare ID are my own. I don't claim to be MOB or share fake content, just my own passion project! This is also a solo development work (aside from commissioned aspects), but I appreciate any and all interest in the project and hope you stick around to see what's next.

Eu estava fazendo uma AU dos Smiling Critters e então me veio a ideia de expandir essa minha AU para algo além de quadrinhos e desenhos. Decidi fazer um jogo.

Por enquanto, eu não tenho muito o que falar sobre o meu jogo, já que ele está em um estágio bem inicial ainda, mas logo eu trarei novidades.

I was going to post this on my Twitter, but since Twitter is being banned in Brazil, I'll post it here instead. I'm developing a fan game of Poppy Playtime/Smiling Critters.

I was working on an AU of Smiling Critters, and then the idea came to me to expand this AU into something beyond comics and drawings. I decided to create a game.

For now, I don't have much to say about the game since it's still in the early stages, but I’ll bring updates soon.

This game will be posted on Game Jolt. I’m already working on the game’s page, and once it’s ready, I'll share the link here.

sometimes i wonder how well poppy worldwide would translate into an actual fangame tho... obviously many scenes would need rework to fit it, esp from chapter 3, but i wonder how we could change the basic gameplay of poppy playtime to fit in an ally.

regardless, i think it would make for a very cute game inspired by flash games. a bunch of minigames combined w some free roam sections would be cute

So, the 10th Anniversary week of FNaF is over. Looking back on this franchise and how special it is to me, remembering how I became a part of the community after the first two games came out and the third one was being teased. It's still crazy to me that 10 years ago, FNaF was a horror game that was created by one man and 10 years later, FNaF is one of the biggest horror franchises in gaming history! I can remember beating the first two games on the Kindle and it was such a surreal moment, but who would have thought that there would be many sequels after the main trilogy (4-UCN), many spin-off games (World, FiS 2, FiS 3, FR), two incredible VR games, an AR game, the biggest Non-VR installment with a phenomenal DLC (SB/Ruin), tons of merchandise, countless fangames, talented people who made the greatest fansongs for the series, pillars of the community in the form of YouTubers (Markiplier, MatPat, Dawko, 8-BitGaming, FuhNaff, RyeToast, etc.), the fans, the loved composers making absolute bangers for the games and the movie(s) (Leon Riskin, Allen Simpson, A Shell In The Pit, The Newton Brothers, etc.), the many iconic characters not only created by Scott Cawthon himself, but by bigger organisations of people who made it their mission to carry on the legacy of Scott (Steel Wool Studios, Illumix, Mega Cat Studios, etc.) but also by the fans who work tirelessly to figure out the lore of the series and give characters their own style of personality, bringing life to those who seemed to have none, the insane amount of theories and headcanons within the puzzled minds of theorists and fans alike, the crazy amount of books that still wrack our brains to this day (FF, TFtP, SE trilogy, etc.), the nostalgic easter eggs hidden throughout every installment that inspired others to create their very own hoaxes to fool the community, and most importantly the massive success of the games was unexpectedly recognised when Scott was losing hope in his career when his previous game (Chipper & Sons Lumber Co.) didn't have the same effect on people that FNaF eventually would and therefore, led to the production and overwhelming success of the groundbreaking first ever FNaF movie! Seeing it in the cinema on the big screen was an incredible experience that I will never forget. It still amazes me that I went from a small Kindle screen, to an Xbox/TV screen, to a cinema screen and just thinking about the depth of it all made me emotional because I've never stopped loving and caring about this franchise. The impact of it's very existence is still unrivalled, many have tried to recreate the feel and atmosphere of the mascot horror genre that FNaF created with their own games (Poppy Playtime, Garten Of Banban, Tattletail, Bendy and the Ink Machine, etc.) Some succeeded and even became their own stand-alone franchises, of course FNaF didn't completely create the mascot horror genre, it not only reignited it but made it grow in popularity, hence the creation of many beloved fangames of the series. This is such an exciting time for the FNaF community, and I could say much more about the entirety of FNaF, but there's just simply too much of the surface to scratch. Here's to the eventful 10 years of Five Nights at Freddy's!

I really hope we see some sliver of Ennard’s mask origin in SOTM. Even if it's just seeing it as a decoration again. Jackie kinda reminds me of Coils, with her funny tube limbs. Makes me wonder if they could've been a duo? People keep accusing it of riffing Poppy Playtime, but the way everything else was described reminded me of Case Animatronics, if anyone remembers that fangame.

I picked team lesbia- I mean team present btw. It was a tough decision because my whole style is based on the past, and the Squid Sisters mean a ton. But OTH's characterization is better, and GYEAHILOVE BEIN PURPLE. Future was out of the question lol. The announcement surprised me for sure. I thought about the other groups tuning in for this, but I didn't think they actually would! The lil musical motifs too!! This feels like Chaos vs Order all over again GAH I'm so excited!

I'm making a narrative Poppy Playtime fangame!

Hi everybody! I figured this might be the space to share and hear some feedback for this project of mine, so here goes nothing!

I'm currently developing a game inspired in the world of Poppy Playtime and the Playtime Co. factory/Playcare in Ren'Py as a story-driven companion and alternate (but mostly similar) reality to the games! I'm planning plenty of point-and-click puzzles, mini-games, and more as the story delves into the plot and characters.

Follow the descent of Lucas, Carter, and Tristan, three friends raised in Playcare and reunited after adoption, as they explore the beloved memories and horrifying truths of their shared childhood home, and learn about their pasts and each other as they explore the premises. I am planning to have a couple different story branches for each character and some sinister and familiar toy faces appear (like MLL and CatNap) but I won't spoil the fun for now!

HUGE thanks to @/ang_jkt on Fiverr, the character sprites are all her awesome work! other assets are from in-game, placeholders, and my own photoshopping of assets from documents from the game. whats the fnaf thing all about? i only play pokeyman and mineycrafta like a fucking child

Uuugh it's too much to explain anon 💀 if there a NINE HOURS lore video about it, that's for a reason...

But to put it simply, it started off as a dumb jumpscare bear game > Markiplier makes a viral playthrough > became one of the most successful indie game serie of the last few years. It created a whole new horror genre : Mascot Horror, and a bunch of copycats have been consistently trying to ride that way (with more or less success) : Garden of Bangtan, Poppy Playtime, Bendy and the ink machine Choo Choo Charles come to mind.

What's important to not is that FNAF wasn't supposed to have a sequel, so Scott Cawthon (its creator) creator the lore as the games went by. It's surprisingly pretty consistent (although it got retconed 2 times lol - notably in FNAF 4 which momentarily established the previous games as a dream 😅)

Scott got cancelled a few years ago after being exposed as a registered Republican. Fans (mostly left aligned zoomer) started putting parallels between the game main storyline of child sacrifice and abortion criticism (which is super based idc lol). This prompted Scott to not being directly involved in the game development but still managed their overall direction as some sort of "conductor". However he's the co author of the books....which are now part of the lore (which confused many fans bc they originally weren't).

And it's without counting the fangames (that aren't developed by Scott's team)...but that still get Scott's approval (I heard that Scott created some sort of incubator to fund teams creating those fangames) and contain lore (example: Five nights at Candy's). So FNAF lore is now spread between to "official" games, the books, the fangames.

That's why the suspicion regarding Scott's personal beliefs extend to books. Such as the B-7 book story (cowrote by Scott), where a boy mutilates himself (to become an animatronic) only to realize once as an adult and after trying to unalive himself- that it was pointless and ultimately decide to accept himself as a (hu)man👀. Many have seen an anti trans narrative and I can't blame them 👀

There are so many other things to be said abt the whole remnant/soul ties thing (that makes the animatronic come too life) but I don't want to be too long.

As goofy as it may look, FNAF tackles extremely dark things but for unlike 99% mainstream media, it doesn't glorifies or donwplay it. The moral sensibility of that gaming license is STRONG. William Afton is an AWFUL person - a CHILD MURDERER. He's not displayed as anything but that. In one fangame you literally play him in "hell" where you have to fight against all the animatronics/children he killed.

I can't help but see a message of the perversion of childhood in it. The animatronics attack you the way the human spirit of the child possessing them died : chica does it screaming because the child screamed, Foxy runs super fast bc the child died while trying to escape, Puppets is crying because the child died a slow death crying...

Just finished it and that's the far the best FNAF lore video I've seen. It's Extremely detailed though so it's definitely longer than other FNAF lore video (that also may not take into account the latest books/fangame for example )

Honestly I'm glad we waited until now because if we had just seen ch 1 and 2 I probably wouldn't have any interest and would have dropped it. But tbh ch 3 and 4 really pick up and the game starts to like, get an identity? It's like they were like "wait a minute we could actually make this interesting" and suddenly it's a game less about you and the horror you're going through and more about the monsters and the horror they are going through. The characters have like. Moments. It's wild. It starts to get ridiculous and surreal at some points and reminds of shit like gravity bone or jazzpunk slightly. I hope they lean way more into it tbh. The stupid fnaf fangame horror tropes are still there but the moments it strays away from that are pretty interesting and easy to get attached to. The puzzles also get way better lmao or at least more like. Unique. I hope they keep going with it in this direction because it does get way better as it goes. I'm like damn I like this cast of characters mostly, I hope they do shit.

However if you aren't an epic mascot horror fan you probably won't like it. I'm a mascothorrorhead I for real love stuff like fnaf and rainbow friends and bendy or whatever yknow. I enjoy keeping up with new episodes of skibidi toilet. I like this stuff to begin with but even I have my limits where like. poppy's playtime just doesn't interest me at all im sorry I do not like that game. Lmao.
