Five years later.

Now be warned. These headcanons are based on what I personally think could have happened to the Pritchett’s by 2024. The pandemic and lockdown influenced this scenario. And it will have my own interpretations of the characters. So if you don’t like it. Don’t read it.

Let’s get the pandemic stuff out if the way first shall we?

During the lockdown Jay decided (read: he was forced to admit) that novelty dog beds were a nonstarter. So now he’s a freelance consultant for closest firms like his own. He has his own hours. And he can make them pay through the nose. So he’s very happy.

Because of the pandemic freezing everything. Gloria decided to volunteer enforcing the six feet apart rule at supermarkets. She proved very effective.

Manny got lucky. Very lucky. He got cold feet the day before the cruise left so he was at home when the lockdown started in earnest. Javier on the other hand got stuck on a Covid cruise and became born again. Gloria wishes that he wasn’t.

Joe loved the zoom classes. He got to show his teachers his room. And he became very popular with his new class when he showed them the pool.

With the housing market frozen during lockdown, Phil also volunteered at the supermarket as a cashier and cleaner. It lacks the major human interaction he prefers. But he was proud to contribute to society in some way during the crisis.

Claire hated the pandemic. Her new job went up in smoke two weeks in. She had to reclean everything every two hours. It got so bad that Alex had to recommend a therapist to her. Claire still isn’t 100% yet. But she’s getting there. Plus. She’s gotten closer to Dylan.

Haley’s marriage suffered during lockdown a little bit. Dylan was classed as an essential worker. So he was basically living at the hospital for months on end. And he felt like he couldn’t talk to her about it. Not even when a surge of very young patients died on his watch on the same day. The only one he felt like talking to was Claire. But now they’re in marriage counselling. Which is helping them a lot.

Alex and Arvin also got very lucky. They were in California for his birthday and staying at the Dunphy house when everything shutdown. Their jobs in Switzerland were packed in. But at least Alex had her family around her during the lockdown.

Luke had a mixed bag during the pandemic. He was just about to leave for Oregon when lockdown was announced. Which meant that he was still at home and doing zoom classes so that was good. But he also had Alex breathing over his shoulder.

The lockdown was a miserable experience for Mitchell. In a completely different state miles away from the rest of his family. He kept a 24 hour zoom call going just so he could see his father every day. Needless to say he was over the moon when Cameron suggested they move back to California when lockdown was lifted.

Cameron’s dream job turned into a nightmare once all of the schools closed. Plus his side of the family, especially Pameron, didn’t follow any of the rules properly so he kept having to throw them out of the house to keep Lily and Rex safe. Admittedly he did go a little overboard when he misinterpreted “bubble” and tied to wrap the houses exterior in plastic. But eventually he calmed down and got through it.

Lily fared a little better. She found learning in place boring. But she was happy to finally have a reason to yell “get away from me” when people broke the six feet apart rule.

Now on to the fun stuff. This will be a bit Luke heavy because he’s my favourite character.

Luke ended up majoring in child psychology at the University of Oregon. He figured that George, Poppy and Rex could do with an Uncle Frasier. That and he watched Silence of the Lambs a lot during lockdown. He wisely leaves that out of conversation.

At ten am on the Fourth of July 2022 Luke Dunphy became a father to a boy he calls Phillip Franklin Dunphy. Frankie for short. The baby was left on the doorstep nameless. But he knows who mother is though. He only slept with one redhead after all. He’s now suing for full custody with Mitchell’s help on grounds of abandonment.

Luke fell in love with his college roommate in 2024. Reeves McCoy. (For references sake think of John Boyega in the force awakens but with a prominent Missouri accent). Reeve is on the wrestling team and is majoring in family law. Luke brought Reeve home for the summer. He hadn’t told anyone so everyone was very surprised but very happy for him. None more so than Cameron and Mitchell. Then Cameron found out they Reeve is a descendant of the fabled McCoy family. And Cameron was raised believing that the Hatfield’s are in his veins. Reeve won him over by singling a ten hour Cher medley.

Haley and Dylan have another baby now. Clark Kent Marshall. Named after Claire. And the ward that he was born on. Neither of them get the reference to superman.

George’s first word was “oops”. Poppy’s first word was “no”. Rex’s first word was “Lily”. Lily lords it over Cameron and Mitchell every chance she gets. And Frankie’s first word was “dada”. Luke finally understands why Phil is the was he is.

Lily can yodel like Alameda Slim. Mitchell pays her 100 dollars a week to keep it a secret from Cameron. He categorically refuses to start a bluegrass band.

Alex and Arvin are married but don’t have children. They mutually decided not to. Instead they have a calico cat called Curie. Unfortunately for them. He has a habit of running through plate glass doors. So now Joe calls him Luke the Cat. And it stuck.

Thankfully for all concerned. Mitchell and Cameron moved back into their perfect house in 2021. It pays to be related to a realtor like Gloria.

Manny finally got fame for his movies. And he hates it. He made what he felt was a hard hitting docudrama about mother and son relationships. But it’s known as a reimagining of Psycho. He’s now joined Phil and Gloria in the real estate business.

Claire got on the Marie Kondo train. She started her own business where she helps people clean up their lives. Especially families with a lot of children.

Joe is a very smart student. Well. He would be if he didn’t channel all his intellect into a black market candy stall. Jay still doesn’t know where he got the merchandise from.

Phil and Gloria started a new business with Manny after Covid. Family Realty. They proved extremely successful with Mitchell and Cameron’s friends.

And that is what I think the Pritchett’s are doing five years after the show ended.

Poppy is my favourite character from frasier, i remembered

▌real name: Lauren “Lolo” Renee Frasier

▌single or taken: single

▌abilities or powers: she just a degular smegular human.

▌eye colour: brown

▌hair colour: changes, but usually a dark brown

▌family members: Laura Frasier (mother), Marcus Frasier (father), Marcus Frasier Jr (brother), Anthony Frasier (brother), Lucas Frasier (brother)

▌pets: A grey pit bull with blue eyes named poppy, a bulldog named Roxy, and a German Shepard named Chop. They’re her babies.

▌something they don’t like: Snitches! Snitches! Snitches! There’s nothing Lauren can’t stand more than a snitch. One wrong word and you can mess up whatever someone has going on and you don’t know what the reason might be. For example, she sells and run product to keep a steady cash flow for her and her mother’s medical bills and if someone were to snitch on her and get her locked up then that’ll fuck her whole life over and definitely put her mother into critical condition. She believes in sitting there mouth closed just minding the business that pays you and she thinks you should too! She’s hardly the type to get violent cause she knows it won’t benefit her, but she’ll make an exception for snitches.

▌hobbies/activities: Writing in her diary, reading, roller skating (used to be on a derby team), getting tattoos, buying jewelry, going to cookouts or block parties, and hanging out around her family.

▌ever hurt anyone before: yes.

▌ever killed anyone before: not intentionally.

▌animal that represents them: An otter. I have no idea why, but it’s the first animal to pop in my mind.

▌worst habits: She hardly gives people chances. She’s someone who’s trust runs thin and even if you think you have it, you probably don’t. She’s not closed off completely, but she is getting to that point. Also, she has a thing for getting tattoos or new jewelry whenever she feels herself slipping mentally. She’s convinced herself that it helps her feel better and in a way it’s self care, so she’s not wrong.

▌role models: Can she be a complete mommy’s girl right now and say her mom? 🙈 Cause it’s her mom. She’s watched her struggle through so much from eviction notices, being let go of from her job, taking care of the family once Lolo’s dad went to prison, and she watches her everyday fight through her sickness. She’s the strongest woman she knows and she absolutely desires to be like her when she’s older.

▌sexual orientation: bisexual.

▌thoughts on marriage/kids: She thinks it’ll be nice to settle down eventually and have a child of her own. None of her brothers have kids, so she’d like to provide her mom and dad with a grandchild before they’re not around to see them.

▌fears: loosing her mom and being completely utterly alone. Her dad is in jail, one of her brothers don’t speak to her, her other brother is in jail too, and one of her brothers (also her favorite) is dead. She doesn’t really have anyone.

▌style preferences: “urban” is the closest thing I could think of to describe her fashion. She’s not too flashy or materialistic, but she does like looking nice so common name brands like Nike, Playboy, Jordan, Tommy Hilfiger, etc will do. She does have a pricier side to her wardrobe, but she really only busts it out for special occasions or when she’s dealing with more professional clients and dealers. Jewelry is a must: all her fingers are covered in rings, sometimes her neck hurts from all the chains she wears, and her earrings are always dangling and making noise. Acrylics are another must and they’re always long and slightly curved. The only person she goes to is Kiki to get them done because she knows exactly what she likes.

▌someone they love: Even though they’re all a bit estranged, she loves her family more than life itself.

▌approach to friendships: Lauren is not a very social person at all. I wouldn’t call her anti-social or shy, but she’s definitely considered to be an introvert. She hates confrontation and therefore she doesn’t like talking to people first and because of her tattoos and resting face some people find her too intimidating to talk to. It seems like the only time people talk to her is when it has to do with drugs, to hit on her, or to start some mess and she only has time for one of those things.

▌thoughts on pie: does cheesecake technically count as a pie? She’s going to say yes.

▌favourite drink: water, Arizona’s, and energy drinks.

▌favourite place to spend time at: The beach! She loves the sound of the waves. Especially early in the morning when there’s hardly ever anyone else there. Also, her grandmother’s house is a big favorite. She spent majority of her time as a little girl there with her older brother and grandma being a little rugrat, so it holds some special memories. Her grandmother passed away a while ago, but her aunt still lives there. It’s literally a block away from her house and she makes sure to visit as often as she can

▌swim in the lake or in the ocean: ocean all the way.

▌their type: Softies! She likes those people who have hard exteriors but once you crack through them they’re completely different individuals and nothing like people expect them to be. You have to be a romantic person because she is and it’s boring having a one sided romantic relationship like she can’t make every cute thing up herself. She doesn’t go for a certain look but if you have tattoos or piercings that definitely helps your case.

▌camping or indoors: Indoors. She doesn’t like leaving her house if it isn’t for business or a peace of mind. Also, she doesn’t do the woods or nature. Her grandmother has told her too many little stories that have stuck with her.

Nicknames: Lani, but only a few people I’ve known since childhood use that, plus my Motther. 

Zodiac: Aries, baby!

Height: 5ft 3. Though I’ve been convinced I was 5′4 for years, but apparently not. I was living a big fat self-denial of a lie. 

Languages: English. Spanish (Mexican dialect). Some basic French. Some essential Irish. 

Nationality: Irish-British

Favourite Season: Summer. I love all the seasons and what they bring, and I appreciate them all, but I thrive in summer when everything is in full bloom and the sun is shining and the air is filled with sounds of life. I love it. 

Favourite Flower: I have a few. I like dandelions and buttercups and poppies, and I like foxgloves and the flower of the Hawthorn tree, but the purple and yellow flowers of the Bittersweet Nightshade in my garden is especially important to me. So probably that. 

Favourite Scent: Freshly cut grass. 

Favourite colour: Red has been my favourite colour since I was 4 years old (we were asked in Reception class to colour in everything in our favourite colour. and the sheet looked disturbing with cows and sheep covered in red crayon. The teacher did not think that through) and I have so much red things; my phone case is red, I have so many red lipsticks, red nail polishes, my favourite red ankle boots. But I love the colour teal as well. That’s my joint favourite. It’s just red has been around longer since my ‘make it look like the animals were murdered’ days. 

Favourite Animal: Again this is hard. Cats ultimately, but I love foxes due to my Grandmother, and I have such an affinity with crows. I talk to them a lot when I walk past the graveyard near my house. One even followed me to the bus stop and stood with me till the bus came. And I finally did falconry earlier this year with a gorgeous owl, and I really want to work with owls more as I also love them. 

Favourite Fictional Character: Again, stop asking for one when there are many. Catelyn Stark from ASOIAF stands out significantly. And  I obviously love Lilith in CAOS (though I love her in general mythology too) and Death from the Discworld series, but Catelyn will always have a piece of my heart (however, as most know, I despise the show. What they did to her was just argh. Thank god MF saved it with her freaking acting. Barely). I also love Tuppence Beresford from Agatha Christie books. And Circe  and Penelope from the Odyssey. See, the list just goes on. 

Coffee tea or hot chocolate? Coffeeeeeeee. Unless it’s iced tea. I do like some iced tea. 

Average sleep? 7 hours? 

Cata or dogs? I love both, but I have had cats since I was born, and  I am through and through a cat person (although I’ve loved JRTs since forever, thanks to the glorious star that is Eddie from Frasier. And OMG saw the most gorgeous puppy of a teacup terrier the other day in the woods. She had a RABBIT harness on because she was that small).

Number or blankets? Just the one. Bu tis a duvet not a blanket. 

Dream trip? Galapagos Islands, though I’ve heard tourism is destroying it with too many people going so guess that idea is shot. Also glamping in Madagascar would be AMAZING.  

Blog established? 2012 I believe? I’ve had this blog a while, though I wasn’t ladyofriverrun in the beginning. 

How many followers? 1100 I think? 

Random facts about yourself?  I used to compete in figure skating and have been on the ice with dancing on ice stars, and even got to meet some gold medalists which was amazing. I dyed my hair blonde from the age of 17 to 21, before going back to my natural dark brown. I like to pretend that time never happened. I have my entire house painted in bright colours, and my bedroom is an entire homage to mexico (i’m mexican descent)

#SingleParents S2, Ep. 16-17 "Hip$ for Dolores"/"Untz, Untz, Untz" Episodes Recap and Review

"Hip$ for Dolores" 

As Poppy gets a letter from her landlord at her wineberry of the rent increased; everyone tries to help her out with money. Poppy and Will tries to sell her engagement ring for a lot more money but it turns out that it's worth around $200. She did tell Will how the store has really built her self esteem after leaving her ex-husband. Meanwhile, Angie, Miggy, Rory, and Graham try to get money from Angie's co-workers from donation to even feeling bad at knocking Graham's food to the floor. As soon as they got their money together, they've lost it after Angie's story was actually true. Even Doug tries to help manage Poppy's store with some drastic measures but as soon as everyone came back Angie and Miggy brought back enough money as they sold Miggy's calendars at the office. "Hip$ for Dolores" was funny at times with its simple story of the gang trying to help raise money for Poppy's store. There were times it had some very good moments like Poppy telling Will how the store had changed her from leaving her ex-husband.

"Untz, Untz, Untz"

After another night spending the night at Doug's house, Miggy gets Doug to consider staying at Poppy's house; which turned into a disaster. First, Doug didn't enjoy it because of not getting in his evening routine; not to mention trying to find a place for his toothbrush and Poppy playing Frasier episodes so loud that she falls asleep. And the kicker comes to the bed as he couldn't get comfortable.  Even so Poppy didn't enjoy it either as Doug was too moving in the bed and even talking in his sleep. The two settle their difference and Facetime each other as their new sleeping arrangement. Meanwhile, Angie tries to hit it off with Colin by using Sophie to bond with his son; as Will takes Graham to have a boy's night. But Graham finds a woman and disappoints Will. As Angie's date night that she was hoping for didn't go the way she had hoped but ended up well after Sophie finally enjoys Colin's son after talking about apples. "Untz, Untz, Untz" was another fun episode. I very much enjoyed watching this episode with both stories as they were hilarious and so enjoyable. This was yet another good performance from the cast and the writing was as good too. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
