Run boy run⌛🍃
Why does tiktok continue to delete my videos' audios?? Like it wasn't hard enough for us humble edit makers already😭
[For those who don't know Spanish: 'mi starter favorito en cada generación' translates to 'my favorite starter in each generation'. I know, I know... It's just a small change, but I don't have the template anymore and I'm not going to remake it again. It was hard enough the first time.
For those who do know Spanish: plis, ayuden a una simple bloggera a que este post tenga éxito🥺🙏]
Anyway, I really like all starters and it was pretty hard to choose one of the three for each gen. But I have a reason for each one:
Squirtle - I picked one at random when playing a mod and since they accompanied me to victory, I've been getting one whenever I can.
Chikorita - I don't get why there's so much hate towards them. I actually think they have the best designs in their gen out of the rest, typhlosion and feraligatr just look like a bigger version of their first phase.
Mudkip - They're the 🐐 out of the three. KOed with one earthquake Steven's Metagross. Not much more to say.
Piplup - Their scenes in the anime where very funny, and he's just so round and squishy looking. This was a hard pick, but Empoleon is pretty nice.
Snivy - My first ever pokemon, even before I got the games. I bought one as a plushy on by birthday as a kid and she's been by my side ever since.
Fennekin - I love their design in all the evolution line (hold it there, ya furries) Also very good stats, Greninja has low defenses and Chesnaught is too physic.
Popplio - When the first stages where revealed, I immediately liked them. Combined with the Greninja from the demo, those two where an aquatic machine of destruction.
Sobble - Much like Chikorita, I like to go against the grain. Besides, I loved Inteleon from the second he came out. Still mad his ability's the worst of the three, but I'd pick them anytime without hesitation.
When this was made, I hadn't played the 9th gen, but I think I'd choose Fuecoco.

So, I haven’t really posted or reblogged much regarding Scarlet and Violet, but I just wanted to make this post regarding the whole “is Sprigatito gonna become bipedal?” debate going on.
Now personally, I’m gonna pick Sprigatito; I’m a cat person, I chose Litten in both Moon and Ultra Moon (despite my feelings about Incineroar), cat Pokémon in general are my friends.
But I want to look at starter trends by type to go into why I think Sprigatito might stay quadrupedal, despite the last cat starter not doing the same.
Edit: I wrote this a couple weeks ago and just hadn’t gotten around to posting it, so I’d like to just address something. Yes, I am aware of the leak, but given how it was from 4chan, I am electing to ignore it until we are given something concrete/confirmed.
Looking at past starters, the Grass-type starters tend to stay in the same “-pedal” stance through the whole line, while it is the Fire-type starters that stand up. And Water-type starters are kinda all over the place. Let’s break this down.
Grass Starters
Bulbasaur: Quadrupedal, stays that way
Chikorita: Quadrupedal, stays that way
Treeko: Bipedal, stays that way
Turtwig: Quadrupedal, stays that way
Snivy: Bipedal, becomes No-pedal
Chespin: Bipedal, stays that way
Rowlet: Bipedal, stays that way
Grookey: Quadrupedal, becomes Bipedal
Fire Starters
Charmander: Bipedal, stays that way
Cyndaquil: Quadrupedal, becomes Bipedal
Torchic: Bipedal, stays that way
Chimchar: Bipedal, stays that way
Tepig: Quadrupedal, becomes Bipedal
Fennekin: Quadrupedal, becomes Bipedal
Litten: Quadrupedal, becomes Bipedal
Scorbunny: Bipedal, stays that way
Water Starters
Squirtle: Bipedal, stays that way
Totodile: Bipedal, stays that way
Mudkip: Quadrupedal, stands up mid-line, then becomes Quadrupedal* again
Piplup: Bipedal, stays that way
Oshawott: Bipedal, becomes Quadrupedal
Froakie: Quadrupedal, becomes Bipedal
Popplio: Starts on belly, stays that way
Sobble: Quadrupedal*, becomes Bipedal
As you can see, every single Fire starter ends bipedally; it is the only starter type with that consistency across the board. Meanwhile, out of four Grass starters that started quadrupedally, only one becomes bipedal. While it may have been the most recent, I see Rillaboom as the exception, not the rule.
*While these two technically stand on their back legs and thus could count as Bipedal, the fact that they primarily get around on all fours has me counting it as Quadrupedal. But like I said, Water starters are all over the place.
And while we’re at it, we might as well take a look at all the other cat Pokémon to see what’s going on there.
Other Cat Pokémon
Meowth starts bipedally, and while staying that way when the Galarian variant evolves into Perrserker, it becomes quadrupedal when the other two variants evolve into Persian.
Skitty: Quadrupedal, stays that way
Shinx: Quadrupedal, stays that way
Glameow: Quadrupedal, stays that way
Purrloin: Bipedal, becomes Quadrupedal
Litleo: Quadrupedal, stays that way
Espurr: Bipedal, stays that way
As you can see, cat Pokémon in general tend to end quadrupedally.
Anyway, all this to say I think Sprigatito will stay quadrupedal. (But even if that’s not the case, I’m still picking it ‘cause ya girl can’t control herself when it comes to cats.)

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet takeaway
Goodbye pokemon Zodiac theory unless Fuecoco a clearly lizard like pokemon evolves into a sheep, ox, or snake then that theory is finally dead. Adding to this thought it looks like a dinosaur so 50/50 % chance of it becoming a dragon none of this salamander bullcrap that kept the childish hopes of adults that Charizard is a dragon and not just a flying lizard alive.
Sprigatito is a cat, Litten is also cat. Litten evo are hyper masculine with its base concept being the heel wrestler. Now Sprigatito looks as feminine as Fennekin and although they can subvert this considering popplio they already have Litten for the masculine. One other thing I can see in the month to come is the Sprigatito line and the Litten line being shipped together. Final thought its evolving into a prehistoric cat like pokemon, as much as a hypocrite this makes me sound I do sort of believe in theory that grass type starter evolve into prehistoric creature.
Quaxly, I naming it Berdly. Now being the hypocrite that I am I do believe in the theory that the water pokemon final evo are based on weapons with Primarina being the outlier I mean words are also a weapon but still. So given that I’m calling Quaxly, Berdly I envision its final evo with a halberd. Edit: I just realized the pun/ play on words Halberd or Hal- Bird its a bird with a Halberd

I love your NSR\Pokemon Mystery Dungeon crossover! Just out of curiosity, what ‘mons would the other artists be? I was thinking Cosmoem or Minior for DJSS and Primarina for Sayu, but I dunno about the others.
Thank you, I’m happy that you liked it anon! 😚
And I’m glad you asked because I actually already have ideas for what the other artists could be (and will be very happy to draw them if other people want me to 😉)
I’ll list everything under a readmore since this is gonna get very rambly. Anyone’s welcome to give their thoughts and ideas in the replies too.
DJSS
There aren’t that many space-themed pokemon so narrowing down some fitting choices for him is hard but my first choice for him would be Deoxys, specifically the defense form since it’s more similar to DJ’s silhouette. They both can change their shape to some degree, they both have spaghetti arms, and they both have an orb as part of their designs, the only difference being DJ’s orb being his head and Deoxy’s orb in its chest actually being its brain. But if you don’t like the idea of him being a mythical pokemon then minior is a good option for him too, and a hilarious one because DJ is supposed to be a huge and hefty guy and then you got minior who is tiny. Aesthetically, Cosmoem would’ve been a good choice for him, but idk how I feel about assigning him a pokemon that’s literally described to be a lifeless cacoon.
Sayu
If we were to consider Sayu’s form changes, I would actually make her the entire Popplio line; Popplio being the 1st standard form, Brionne being the 2nd, and Primarina being the 3rd. I’ve also thought about what team Sayu could be too; Tila being Jigglypuff, Remi being Smeargle, Dodo being a Kirlia, and Sofa maybe being a Porygon or a Porygon2. In the PMD world, Sayu could be an illusion brought to life thanks to the efforts of Dodo’s psychic abilities and the like.
DK West
If Zuke is a Treecko/Grovyle, then by default DK West would be Grovyle/Sceptile. The reason I picked the Treecko line for Zuke is because of the chill vibes the entire line gives off, and West is pretty chill too in his own way. Otherwise, he could be something like a Gengar for its ability to manipulate shadows and a tendency to mess with others (i.e. Zuke)
Yinu and Mama
It’s pretty obvious that they’ll be a Budew and a Roserade because of the rose motif, although I think Yinu could work as a Roselia too. I think it could work for her character as a prodigy for a young child like her to have already evolved.
1010 and Neon J
I could be predictable and make 1010 the eeveelutions; Red/Zimelu = Flareon, Blue/Purl-Hew = Vaporeon, Yellow/Haym = Jolteon, Green/Eloni = Leafeon, White/Rin = Glaceon or Sylveon, but I also like the idea of making 1010 Pawniards and Neon J a Bisharp because all of Bisharp’s pokedex entries talk about how it commands its own troop of Pawniard. Plus Pawniard and Bisharp are all part steel type which works with their robot/cyborg aesthetic well
With that said, I don’t not like the idea of making 1010 the eeveelutions. After all, what the two groups have in common is that while they’re both widely beloved they are also incredibly overrated. It just leaves the question of what Neon J could be because so far my other best pick for him would be Xurkitree, because both of them have a passion for dance apparently. And idk about you but there’s something very endearing about an extraterrestrial lifeform and a bunch of dogs adopting each other as a family unit. Sometimes a family can be some sentient cables and their five dogs.
EDIT: FALINKS! Falinks is also a good choice for 1010 and NJ! Can’t believe I forgot about them they were so obvious 🤦♀️
EDIT 2: A friend from a discord server I’m in also suggested Silvally for Neon J for the eeveelution 1010s. Silvally Neon J can change his type to reflect the boys’ much like how he can use them as weapons in the final phase of 1010′s fight
Eve
It’s either Gardevoir or Medicham. Gardevoir can distort dimensions and its design suits Eve’s diva aesthetic well. But if Gardevoir’s too predictable of a choice, I also suggest Medicham because they both have a similar colour scheme (white and magenta) and Medicham’s mega evolution sprouts another pair of hands like how Eve can.
Tatiana
I want Tatiana to be some kind of legendary, preferably a fire type. Dialga sounds fitting because both of them have time control abilities, but then I saw someone suggest Groudon for Tatiana too which I also really like the idea of. Some less powerful and non-deity-like options I’ve considered are Entei and Moltres, both kantonian and galarian, though I think galarian Moltres matches Tatiana's intimidating stature more. I had also considered Arcanine for her too, even though it’s not a legendary pokemon in a true sense it is classified as ‘the legendary pokemon.’
BONUS
Kliff
I really like the idea of Kliff being a Rotom for his gift at hacking into machines and being tech savy.
Ellie the Alligator
A Totodile. They both almost look alike. She could be Team B2J’s third member

Lavender, amaryllis, pansy! And for the Pokémon asks you can do all the starter questions if you want!
Lavender = what is your favorite scent? I really like fruity and warm food kind of smells. so like warm vanilla or once I had one that smelled like toasted marshmallows! It just can’t get too strong or else I get a headache.
Amaryllis = what are your favorite mythical creatures? Ah I really like most mythological creatures!! If they’re a non-human thing I love em!
Pansy = what are you currently wearing? I just got back from work so pjs! (its a fourth of july tank and some red plaid pants)
Flowery Ask Game
1: Bulbasaur, Charamander, or Squirtle? Bulbasaur ;w;
2: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Tododile? Totodile! One of my fav starters ever tbh (behind Oshawott and it’s line)
3: Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip? Mudkip!
4: Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup? Chimchar!
5: Snivy, Tepig, or Oshawott? OSHAWOTT!!!
6: Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie? Fennekin!
7: Grass starters, Fire starters, or Water starters? Oh water definitely I’m not so great at grass (as much as I’m working on it) and I’m ok with fire heh.
8: Mega Charizard X or Mega Charizard Y? Idk! I’m really torn because when it was announced I liked y the best but ended up getting x and now I love THAT one so...idk!!
(and a bonus since this ask game hasn’t been updated for Alola)
8.5: Rowlet, Litten, Popplio? OOF another hard one but I’ll say Rowlet because it was the first grass starter I got! Also technically the only since the only Bulbasaur I’ve had was in Let’s Go! and therefore not my “starter”
Thanks for the ask, Ash!!
Make Me Choose: Pokemon Edition
#asks#answered#gaynbowquartz#ash#pokemon#i dont understand anyone who doesnt like oshawott hes just baby#considering i got one in both black and white 2 id say its my fav starter#then again theres always that nostalgia for your first starter!

Dissecting the Sword and Shield Starters
I can’t say much on the behalf of Pokemon fans, seeing as how I’ve only completely finished one Pokemon game. But, upon seeing the new starters, I find myself unable to repress the desire to tear these starters to shreds.
Here is your warning now: if you like these new starters and will be offended by any form of criticism of them, turn back now. Otherwise, continue reading as you please.
Shapes
The first thing any character designer will tell you is that the shapes that compose your characters is immensely important. They create variety in their appearance, ensuring a lasting impression. These starters completely neglect that common rule. To further my point, here is a generation that does shapes well, Generation IV:
Every starter in this lineup has clear defining shapes, or at least shape. The starters for S&S remind me of Fortnite skins. Each one is a circle on top of a roundish torso, with little to no defining features outside of their palette swaps. The Generation IV use their shapes to their advantage, giving each starter personality. Speaking of personality...
Body Language
Answer me this: what discerning personality traits do the S&S starters exhibit? Happy maybe? News flash folks: happy isn’t a personality, that’s an emotion. While a cheerful character can look happy, it’s important that not every character is cheerful. Because, say it with me no: SAME EQUALS BORING! There is no better example of body language than the Sun and Moon starters:
Popplio, with his large welcoming flippers who smiles gleefully, facing upright. These features alone tell me Popplio is an energetic and charismatic Pokemon. “But Maya? Rowlet is smiling too!” I hear you cry out! Yes, but Rowlet also is very reserved. His wings are kept to his side with a blank expression on his face, his pupils simply staring out. He’s very much a complacent Pokemon and not quite as energetic and buoyant as Popplio. And Litten, the true outlier, has a near indiscernible mouth in this image. His eyes are simply cast aside, analyzing and judging. His stance is that of a true cat: nearly a blank slate, with a tail curiously flickering about. All the S&S starters are happy go-lucky Pokemon. No hunched backs, strange looks, or open arms give off any hint of personality. What a boring bunch. But worse than boring, is messy. And, boy are the S&S Starter designs messy.
Purpose and Clutter
With a lineup of the S&S starters in black and white, I would probably hesitantly tell you what type the Pokemon were. Maybe Poison? Possibly Fire? It’s hard to tell because the designs have no purpose. Here are some Pokemon designed with purpose, compared to the worst perpetrator:
(Sorry Tumblr formatting is being a bitch)
I wrote some notes highlighting what makes some elements great, and others extremely poor. Litten, with little spikes of hair and whiskers, indicate he’s a fire type, since our minds naturally associate spikes with fire. He also features some line-cross pattern that makes him a little more interesting, but doesn't overpower the appearance. Charmander, a classic, is simply a lizard with a fire tail. How simple, yet so elegant and concise. The viewer can tell that Charmander is a lizard with fire powers. Then we have Scorbunny. Orange stripes. Random, but okay, that’s unique. Little tuffs of round spiky-ish hair. That’s sorta like Litten’s spikes, but maybe a little to round. BUT THEN THERE ARE THE SQUARES! Why in God’s name would you give Scorbunny, a fire type Pokemon, with an already messy design, SQUARES. And the little mini boa?! Why?! There’s no reason. And even if it doesn’t have reason, it doesn’t look good! Round shapes paired with such rigid lines makes no sense. I will probably do a redesign of Scorbunny, but I’m too angry right now to do that.
All in all, the new S&S designs capture what I like least about some Pokemon designs: a lack of direction. The designers are probably worn after designing how ever many of these damn things and it shows. Ideas run short and you can only do Rowlet so many times. You can only make a monkey with fire so many times. It’s easy to critique and edit these designs, but creating a Pokemon from scratch that is completely fresh... that’s not an easy task in the slightest. I hope maybe some other new designs could revive the true heart of Pokemon, bringing life back to a beloved game series.
As for now, Maya Liz, signing off

Hey, I have a 7 yr old child who really wants a Pokemon for her birthday. Are their any Pokémon that are soft and gentle and calm for children?
Eevee.
Edit: My editor is currently threatening to restrict my account again, so allow me to answer this seriously.
Most starters are bred to be docile, so they’re often your best bet, particularly if they’re from a certified starter breeder or a pokémon professor. Of these, it’s often said that litten is the softest and gentlest (even though it evolves into something decidedly neither of these things), but there are plenty of people who would vouch for rowlet, popplio, oshawott, and every fire-type starter except charmander (and arguably chimchar when it comes to being calm). Some pikachu may fit this description as well.
Besides that, fairy- and/or normal-type pokémon often include those that are soft, gentle, and calm. Fairy-types in particular, as mischievous as they are, hang their reputation on being exactly this, which is why clefairy is a highly popular pet (besides being cute and reasonably easy for beginner pet keepers to handle. However, the fairy-type has plenty of other candidates to choose from, ranging from swirlix to snubbull. The type even boasts two nursing pokémon in the form of comfey and members of the jigglypuff line.
Meanwhile, normal-types cover a wide range of territory, but this territory also includes chansey and audino (two more soft and gentle nursing pokémon), as well as buneary, bunnelby, minccino, skitty, and lillipup (pokémon that are highly popular to keep as pets, especially for young girls). Of course, don’t discount other normal-type pokémon that are somewhat less popular choices for pets but are nonetheless excellent choices for young children, including bidoof, slakoth, patrat, or whismur.
Granted, every type has potential candidates (psychic has espurr, solosis, and munna; bug has joltik and venonat; etc., etc.), but generally speaking, normal and fairy tend to be the most popular for young girls. My point in saying this, though, is that there’s also a chance that neither of these types interest your daughter; while they’re fairly safe suggestions, it’s also worth it to start from what her favorite type is and work from there.
But of course, if all else fails, there’s also eevee. Cute, gentle, soft, usually calm, and can be practically any type your daughter might love. They’re the perfect pets, really.
Until they eat you out of house and home and destroy your property. —LH
Details! —Bill
