What's the benefit of a rooftop tent compared to a tent tent? I've seen them about a lot and been intrigued, but I'm not sure on the why?

it's super easy to put up (less to take down but it does take less time than a normal tent), built in mattress, ground is always gonna be flat and not rocky, pretty waterproof/not gonna flood (had this happen at an UpDog last year LMFAO). my pop-up holds heat better than my ground tents did but thats also probably because i got cheap ground tents.

mostly for me, it gets me off the ground so i feel more secure (?). for as much as i camp and do enjoy the outdoors, i usually camp alone (albeit at dog events so not quite "in the middle of nowhere" alone) and i just have Some Anxiety about it. so. it usually just helps with that.

also not as likely to be stepped on by a horse which is not a problem that i have ever seen or heard about but a problem that exists in my head

consequences to them are that they are expensive and if you go to a dog event with one, you WILL be treated like a circus attraction. people will clap when you climb your ladder. they will want to watch your dogs get in & out of the tent. they will call it your "soft crate" and tell you to go to your crate when you make extremely bad jokes
