STOP UR POST AB A WITCH OMGGGG FHRBEJEJ im so exited because that's literally MY THING !!! they'd be so cute ab it, giving her empty jars and picking up herbs from the stores, asking the shop ladies what they're good for, picking up crystals and helping out with her garden, and if she sleeps late after a full moon they'd get up early and bring in her stuff from outside that was charging :(( they'd be so sweet w me i feel :(
After a particularly long day, Remus and Sirius could tell you needed a ‘pick me up.’
James is tired too, the both of you had incredibly long weeks this past week and your other boyfriends hate to see you both so knackered.
So, Remus and Sirius decide to consult your witchbook- your cookbook, because you can’t leave your grimoire helter skelter all over the place- to find what would be best for days like today.
They’ve got a plan, “My tired lovies, I’ve made lavender honey tea,” Sirius says, handing both you and James your favourite mugs with kisses on your foreheads.
“Thanks Siri, what’s Remmy doing?” You can hear Remus flittering about the kitchen and Sirius brushes it off with a wave of his hand.
“You know Remmy, always doing something in the kitchen. Best to leave him to his devices.”
An hour and a half later, there’s sage and tomato soup in four bowls, and a tray of garlic bread and Remus with a sheepish smile.
“I went through your kitchen witchbook and this was good for healing,” he points to the tomato soup, and his cheeks heat. “And cleansing. Thought it would help you and Jamie with your week.”
Your body sags in the sofa and then your launching into Remus’ arms. “You’re the cutest, most thoughtful man ever.” He’s thanked with a myriad of kisses that makes Sirius jealous.
“Hey! I made you and Jamie that tea that helps with being calm. Where’s my kisses?” You turn to Sirius but James beats you to it.
“You guys are the best.” Your belly is warm with how loved you feel and even warmer when the soup and garlic bread actually do help.
“Wanna have a shower or a bath after?” Sirius asks softly, stroking your hair and Jamie’s back. Remus is stacking your bowls and the plate to load the dishwasher.
“Wanna cuddle with Remmy,” James whines and Remus pauses all his movements.
“Give me two minutes, pretty boy? Just wanna load the dishwasher.”
You climb into Sirius’ lap and lay your head in his neck. “Can we watch something hopeful?”
“That a synonym for Christmas-y?” Remus hollers from the kitchen and you hide your face in James’ chest as he cuddled closer.
“So what? Please? Me and Jamie wanna watch it.”

A Winter Wonderland
summary: you marvel at the beauty of your Christmas tree, and your boyfriends marvel at you
poly!marauders x whimsical!reader ♡ 911 words
You could fall asleep here, you think. It’s very lulling, the sound of the fireplace crackling a few feet away, the scent of pine needles, and the view of a forest unlike any other stretching out in front of you. Lights of blue and green and red filter through the thicket, and poking through you can see the edge of a handmade paper star, the fuzzy end of a dog’s tail. Your Christmas tree from below.
“What are you doing?” Sirius has the half amused tone of when he feels like he’s caught you at something odd and he hasn’t decided whether to rag you or to join you yet.
“Admiring our decorating,” you reply. “We did a good job.”
“You’re supposed to look at it from in front of the tree, sweetness.”
“It looks nice from there, too,” you allow, “but nobody ever appreciates it from down here.”
There’s a new set of footsteps, a big hand on your knee. “Are the branches not scraping you?” James asks curiously.
“Only sometimes.”
You hear a smile in his voice. “It’s worth it, though, eh?”
You hum in affirmation.
“Well, this I’ve gotta see.”
James is bigger than you are. You lift the branches for him as he shoots his top half in beside you, but when you let go they come to rest on his chest. He grins at you before looking at anything else. A classic James Potter smile, heartfelt and breathtakingly handsome.
“Hi, angel.”
“Hi.” You reach for his glasses, carefully readjusting them on his nose.
“It smells nice in here.”
“It does,” you agree, pleased to be sharing it. You turn your face upward again. James follows suit. “It looks like another world.”
“It is very pretty,” he says. Multicolored lights spiraling upward, the odd ornament sticking in through the branches, the tree itself lush and fantastical in dark green. “You’re right, we did a good job decorating.”
“Don’t you sort of want to live here?” you ask on a sigh.
“You mean here in our sitting room?”
“No, here in the forest.”
“Ah.” James gives this some thought. “It is nice, but I quite like my life the way it is.”
You turn to look at him, and he’s already looking at you, glasses reflecting a rainbow of lights and brown eyes warmer than warm behind them. Your insides go soupy.
“I like it, too,” you say softly. “I wouldn’t want to go if you all couldn’t come with me. Maybe we could move our place there. Or just visit sometimes, like camping.”
James smiles at you. A dimple appears in his left cheek. “You mean on weekends?”
“Sure.”
“I’m sure we could make that happen, lovely.”
“Oi.” Sirius gives your knee a little shake. By the way James looks down, you guess your boyfriend’s doing the same to him. “What are you two whispering about down there?”
“He’s jealous.” James drops his voice into a deeper whisper, louder yet somehow less intelligible, solely to provoke Sirius. “He knows this view is better than in front of the tree.”
“I don’t know,” you say, smiling at his antics. “I think he’s just worried we’re discussing his Christmas gifts.”
Another shake to your knee, more insistent this time. “What is going on down there?”
“Nothing,” James sing-songs.
“Who’s left a pot of soup on the stove?” asks Remus, voice becoming clearer as he comes into the room.
“Oh, that was me,” you say. “It’s just simmering, don’t worry.”
“It’s…what the fuck…”
“I know,” Sirius says emphatically.
“Dovey, why are you and James’ legs sticking out from under the tree like the Wicked Witch of the East?”
“Why do you assume it was her idea?” asks Sirius, at the same time as James asks, “Who’s the Wicked Witch of the East?”
“I’m admiring our tree,” you tell Remus placidly.
“It does look really cool from down here,” James advocates for you. “Gives a new perspective on the decorating.”
Remus makes an amused humming sound. “That’s really nice, but your soup’s nearly boiling over, sweetheart.”
“Oh, no.” You start to wiggle out from underneath the tree. Sirius’ hands wrap around your ankles, giving you a helpful tug the rest of the way. You grin up at him. “Sorry,” you say to Remus, “I must have set the stove too high.”
He smiles, reaching for you. “That’s okay.” He takes the ends of your hair between his fingers. “How’d you manage to get your hair wet?”
“Hm?” You look. “Oh, it must have been in the tree’s water. I didn’t notice.”
“There’ll be pine needles in it, too, then,” Sirius laughs.
Remus shakes his head, but he’s looking at you like you’re one of his favorite things in the world. One of his favorite three things, for sure.
“How about,” he suggests, “I go turn down the heat on your soup, and Sirius helps you get all the tree bits out of your hair?”
“That’s nice of you.” You push up on your toes, kissing Remus’ cheek. “Thanks.”
Remus presses one to your lips in return, and Sirius takes your hand, leading you to the bathroom.
“Did you dunk your hair in the water, too, Prongsie?” he asks when James follows.
“I don’t think so,” says James. “I just want to see if her hair smells like Christmas tree.”
Sirius hums. You giggle when he makes a show of bringing your hair to his nose, sniffing curiously. “It does, actually.”

LIFE WAS AMAZING, which is not usually how stories begin.
You felt so safe and secure in your secret relationship with Hogwarts' once most eligible bachelors... The Marauders.
The rush of excitement that coursed through your veins every time you shared a hidden glance with Remus, or hiding in the showers of the Gryffindor boys locker room with James after his quidditch victory, and sneaking off to empty classrooms where anyone from anywhere could catch you with Sirius.
It was heavenly, these boys were all you would ever need.
until... now.
You were in Remus' sweater, he said it looked better on you than it did him. If only he knew how much you liked him...
The fireplace erupted with a citrine glow, illuminating the Gryffindor common room beautifully.
Most impactfully, it lit up Remus' scar-kissed features.
His freckles looked as if they were painted onto his face with careful hands by a renaissance painter.
His eyes half-lidded from his lack of sleep from the incoming full moon that was slowly approaching, it pained you to know how much they hurt him.
For once, Remus wasn't in a sweater. Since his was rested comfortably on your body, as your scent comforted The Wolf greatly.
And his scent comforted you, too.
Remus' book had suddenly landed on your lap, and though it startled you a bit. You didn't bother to ask why, until you sat up.
Remus was locked in a passionate conversation with Gryffindor's resident golden girl, Lily Evans.
"Evans, it's lovely to see you."
"Same to you, Lupin."
Godric, was she beautiful.
"I just stopped by to see if you had gotten any of the Defence Against The Dark Arts homework done?"
Lily Evans was as radiant as an angel who blessed anyone with her presence.
"I have; actually, I just finished my paper."
Remus seemed mesmerized by her, the golden gleam from the fire painting her features gorgeously in that same citrine glow as Remus'.
"Could I have a look of it? Not to copy it- obviously, I just want to see how others are wording the question."
You weren't even half as pretty as Lily.
"Of course, and I know you'd never cheat."
"You're the smartest witch in our year."
You tried not to mind other girls flirting with your boys.
Just because you knew that later that night they'd be back to your boys again, and only yours.
As she was about to go, she planted a soft kiss on the side of Remus' cheek, leaving him blushing softly as he bid her goodbye.
Your heart clenched, it was merely a pleasantry. You were being dramatic.
"Are you alright, dove?" Your head perked up at the sound of Remus' voice.
"Hm? Yeah, I'm fine." You mused, albeit a bit absentmindedly.
"Are you tired?" He asked carefully.
"I am, actually..." You forced a sweet smile onto your lips, as he leaned down to kiss them softly.
That kiss was the last one that felt anything more than a chore, an obligation.
That was also your last kiss with Remus.
Cheering James on at the quidditch pitch was just the thrill you needed after that melancholy moment with Remus.
He soared through the field like he was on top of the world, the players scattered around the pitch for one common goal: to win.
Gryffindor had won the game with 60 points, and James had caught the snitch like usual.
This game was also a rain game.
Just as you were about to head down to showers when you spotted Lily excitedly trailing after James.
You knew full well that James chased Lily tirelessly since they started school, that was also well before you came into the picture.
You also knew that she wanted nothing to do with him or the other marauders, so what was with her infatuation now?
Why your boys? She couldn't find her own boys?
But maybe she was just being friendly, right? The boys would never ever cheat on you... right?
You heard Lily giggle as James so graciously held the curtain open for her to enter the locker room, and your heart clenched.
You followed them in, jealously.
"James?" You called, as James poked his head from the changing area. Sweat glistening off his abs.
"Hi, Y/N." He shut the curtain behind him, as if he had something to hide.
Also; he barely just called you by your first name.
"You didn't come to see me after the game?" You questioned, grazing his cheek gently as he spoke."
"Sorry, Y/N. It was a long one." He excused, as he clearly looked a bit flushed.
"You look red, are you dehydrated?"
"Godric, y/n. you are hardly my mum."
You giggled as if it was a joke, yet he seemed quite stone faced.
You cleared your throat embarrassingly once you realized.
"I... just wanted to congratulate you on another win." You forcefully smiled again.
"Thank you, I really appreciate that." Then, he flashed his classic grin at you.
The grin he hadn't flashed at you since he realized he genuinely liked you.
What the fuck?
"Victory kiss?" You asked quietly, with some false hope mixed in.
"Of course." He pecked your forehead quickly, before hurrying off back to his changing area.
And with that, you had also left the steamy tent and outside into the cool, soft rain once more.
A forehead kiss? whenever he used to give you victory kisses they'd be full-on make outs in that same changing room or the showers.
James was falling out of love with you, and you knew it.
Luckily, you could easily disguise your tears with the excuse of it raining.
"Victory kiss?" Lily mewled, from her position on the stool in his changing spot.
"Just on the forehead, lovely."
You stopped showing up to breakfast, as the one time you decided to go Lily was sat in your spot next to Sirius.
Dorcas was nearly at her wits end with the boys and their antics.
The motley crew of Slytherins were the only ones who knew of your relationship, and they were pissed off.
"Treasure, surely they aren't fucked enough to know that you are the best thing they've ever had!" Barty explained, laying upside-down on his bed across from you.
"I-It's no use, Jr." You cried softly, mirroring his position yet on your bed instead. The tears (and blood) rushing to your hairline instead of your face because Dorcas said 'Your makeup is too pretty to ruin, love.' .
"There is a use, Y/L/N. we'll kill them-"
"Jr, absolutely not." Regulus chided, rubbing your shoulder. "She's clearly upset, I don't see the issue."
"Murder is never a good option, Barty." Dorcas scolded gently.
"So what are we gonna do then? My Treasure can't go on like this!"
"You said you've already talked to James and Remus? Maybe you can go talk to... eh... Sirius." Clearly, that name was hard for Regulus to get out.
"*Sniff* yeah, yeah- I'll go talk to him..." You sat up half-hazardously, and strutted out of the dorm-room to go (hopefully) save your relationship.
You still remember the third of December.
Sirius lounged on the couch while speaking with the other marauders, about some sort of prank on the other group of Slytherins.
"And then, we'll-"
"Hi, Siri." You sat next to him, beaming up at him (hopefully).
"...y/n." He greeted casually, before continuing to talk.
Your smile faded, as he continued to talk to your other boyfriends friends about this horrible prank.
Instead of leaving, you sat quietly next to them, as if you were some decoration or trophy wife.
This was truly your breaking point, as you saw Lily sit down on the couches of the common room as she caught all of their attention, you hadn't seemed to do that for ages. Though, she was wearing something familiar...
Remus'... sweater...
Remus'- YOUR Remus' sweater.
"How's it look?" Lily asked, giving them a twirl. Their eyes locked on her.
"Gorgeous, doll." Sirius flirted, shooting her a wink.
"Truly a sight for sore eyes." James grinned.
"It looks better on you than it did me." Remus took her hand and helped her sit down on the couch in between him and James.
That's exactly what he said to you...
He put his arm 'round her shoulder,
suddenly you got colder.
She's got them mesmerized... while you die.
But how could you hate her?
She's such an angel...
But then again you wished she were dead.
"Why would you ever kiss me?" You asked impulsively.
"What?" James looked up from Lily, all eyes on you.
"I mean- I'm not even half as pretty."
"Y/n, You're overthinking it-" Remus started it.
"You gave her your sweater!" You shot back.
"It's just polyester!" Remus defended.
"But you like her better." You felt the tears rush to your waterline.
"We're done." You whispered, leaving Lily looking so confused and the common room dead quiet.
"What does she mean by that...?" Lily seemed horrified.
"We... weren't really dating.." Sirius attempted to defend.
"Yes, we were, you tosser!" James shoved him.
"You said yourself that you were bored of her!" Remus stated matter-of-factly.
"Was I seriously the other woman?" Lily mewled, her hands clutching the sides of her head.
"Nonono- No, we were planning to break up with her but- because we all wanted you-" Sirius tried again.
"Then don't fuck around with her feelings just to get me!" Lily yelled, standing up quickly.
"I appreciate the admiration- but I need time to process, okay? You all were absolute... arseholes to her, I'll admit." Lily started,
"Are you saying no?" James quickly cut in.
"...No..." Lily ended.
After crying your eyes out to Barty and Regulus over your breakup, December 7th rolled around.
The day that students were meant to be studying for their OWLS and other end of term exams.
You would usually be in the library 24/7.
Lily, had finally come around and accepted the boys' proposal, and their relationship became public quickly.
Lily obviously still felt this bitter taste of guilt in her mouth, as did all of them.
So today, Lily had convinced them all to apologize to you for borderline cheating and lying and manipulating and gaslighting-.
But, you were nowhere to be found.
"Regulus! Regulus, wait up!" Lily ran through the hallways to get to her.
"Evans, Brother.. Potter... and Lupin.." She said those last three names with utter disgust.
"We're trying to find Y/n, have you seen her?" Remus asked quietly, he was definitely feeling the most guilt.
"Y/n? Well, If she was here, I think she'd completely refuse to see you lot." Regulus explained bluntly.
"W-What do you mean "If she was here"?" James questioned.
"I mean, Her, Junior., and the Rosier twins completed their OWLS early and hightailed it to Junior's holiday house for the rest of the break." He explained casually.
"What?" Sirius scowled.
"What the hell is my girl-... Y/n doing with them?" James had the same expression as Sirius.
"They are simply better friends then you were to her, hm? I don't blame her."
"When will she be back?" Lily asked breathlessly.
"End of December, If she ever returns." Regulus strolled away, potions book in hand.
"...We fucked up."
Fin.

I HAD AN IDEA FOR A REQ BUT I FORGOT IT AND I JUST REMEMBERED AGAIN
okok so shy!reader (similar to r in the poly!marauders + lily fic that i am genuinely obsessedddd with) but with barty and she just gets so flustered and blushy when he’s so loud and outspoken about his affection for her
barty would absolutely accidentally (& lovingly) torment poor shy!reader. thanks for your request! (I'm obviously currently in my Barty-girl era - I deserve jail time ur honour)
Barty Crouch Jr x fem!reader who tries hiding from Barty, much to Remus' chagrin
There were very few places in the castle that Remus could escape to from his nettlesome roommates. Thankfully, his roommates would rather be trampled by a stampede of hippogriffs than spend their precious free time in the library of all places. Unfortunately, Remus was still too easily spotted in his current hideout.
“Rem! Hide me!” He heard you squeak as you came flying around one of the stacks of books; eyes wild like a prey animal looking for their last chance at survival.
“What?” Remus asked dumbly, but it was no use.
You let out a cartoonish ‘eep!’ sound and dove underneath the table Remus was currently sat at; your head basically situated in Remus’ lap as you looked up at him desperately.
“Please.” You practically begged. “You never saw me!”
“Who’s looking for you?”
Remus' question was answered in the form of a haunting whistling weaving its way casually through the aisles and aisles of books before pausing directly in front of Remus’ chair.
“‘Lo, Junior.” Remus greeted politely, causing the Slytherin boy to narrow his eyes at him.
“Lupin.” He drawled suspiciously. “Aren’t there usually…more of you?”
Remus grimaced as he felt your nervous claws dig painfully into his calf. “Nope.” He replied an octave too high to be considered casual. “Just me.”
Barty simply offered him a disbelieving hum.
“So, Lupin,” Barty continued, chewing the vowels of Remus’ surname as if it tasted particularly rancid in his mouth. “See anything around here lately?”
Remus hummed as if pretending he was in thought. “No…nope, definitely haven’t seen anyo- anything.”
But it was too late.
“Haven’t seen anyone, hm?” Barty surmised with a wicked grin. “Not even…say…a certain witch who happens to be the object of my affections?”
You dejectedly thumped your forehead against Remus’ knee, hitting the nerve which caused his leg to kick out reflexively, thus pushing you over under the table.
“Merlin’s tits, Lupin, are you having a fit?”
“Oh my sodding Godric.” You finally grumbled from under the table, causing Barty’s face to brighten up astronomically.
It took you far longer than Remus would have liked to be sitting in the awkward semi-company with Barty to extricate yourself from under the library table, and your efforts were accompanied by an awful lot of painful sounding bumps and cursing before your - albeit rather bedraggled - form materialized beside Remus.
“There’s my girl.” Barty nearly sighed in relief; a dopey lovesick smile spreading across his face.
“Do you see it too?” You whispered to Remus conspiratorially.
“See what?”
“That look.” You whispered again, causing Remus to snort.
“The look of adoration currently decorating Junior’s face? Yeah, I see it.”
You scoffed at him. “Barty doesn’t adore me.”
“Says who!?” Barty nearly screeched, causing Remus to look around nervously at the attention the trio was quickly gathering. “I’ll kill them.”
“What?”
“Can I be excused from this conversation?” Remus groaned as he returned to his seat.
Barty quickly agreed at the same moment that you hissed no!
“Listen - my darling angel - though I think you’re really great at just about everything you do, you are absolute pants at hiding.” Barty offered you solemnly as if he were gently giving you quite devastating news.
“Maybe you’re just too good at this finding thing.” You huffed as you crossed your arms; quite petulantly, in Remus’ opinion.
“At finding you?” Barty asked as his face broke out in a Cheshire cat grin. “Always.”
Remus was certain you were going to melt through the floor below you, and - quite frankly - if it got you two away from Remus’ library sanctuary, so be it.

could you do one where there’s a girl who is really good, like REALLY good at divination and stuff, and meets the mauraders
hi love! this is so cute, it is a tad bit different from your ask but, here it is ❤️ i hope it fits your vision
She's Divine
Summary: poly!marauders x divination loving reader cw: swearing like once, predetermined poly relationship word count: 1.8k
“Y/N!” you heard Sirius sing throughout the common room. You were cozied up in one of the corners with a book you’ve been dying to read on the works and uses of prophecies. You finally had a moment of time, and now it was being interrupted, great.
“Yes Sirius,” you sighed, closing your book and looking up at him from where he stood. He smiled down at you and you knew you were going to be pulled into whatever scheme he was planning.
He batted his eyes down at you, smiling sweetly as he asked “Would you do me a small, well, bigger than small favor?”
“What kind of favor?” you asked, narrowing your eyes in suspicion.
“Well, remember that assignment that was due last week? The one for divination?” he recalled.
“Yes?” you say, becoming annoyed.
“Well…” He trailed off.
“You didn’t do it?” you guessed, it would be just like Sirius to ask you to do his homework, even a week later.
He cocked his head and smiled. “How did you know? You must be psychic or something.”
You rolled your eyes in answer. Of course you didn’t want to help him with this. It was on a topic you learned last week, palmistry, and you had already moved on to dream interpretations.
“Oh come on,” he grovelled, “you know I’m shit at divination, and you’re the top of the class. Just think about it as if you’re tutoring me.”
You rolled your eyes yet again, your book will just have to wait until later. “Fine,” you said, “sit.”
He sat in the armchair next to yours, throwing off his bag full of textbooks. He looked at you intently, on his best behavior as not to piss you off and tell him to do the assignment himself.
“Ok,” you started, “give me your hand.”
He obeyed your command and gave you his right hand. You took it in both of yours, pulling him closer to get a better view. You twisted it around to get the perfect lighting and make sure you didn’t miss any marks.
“Ok well, these little marks are ‘witch marks’ indicating that magic runs through your bloodlines but… that’s obvious, almost everyone in this school has them. However, you have quite a lot of them, meaning you come from a long line of magic.”
He nodded along seeming interested in what you had to say.
“Then this one here,” you said pointing to a deep line slashing through the bottom of his hand, “this one is the lifeline, it is pretty average, meaning you will live to a normal age but, it’s split. This probably means that your life will change in a drastic way.” you explained.
Sirius was listening, but he wasn’t listening. He was just staring at you, smiling. His hands were warm, soft. You were beginning to feel his stare.
“Do you want me to keep going?” you asked, not knowing if he was really listening to what you were saying, not taking any of it in. He was definitely not going to do well on this project.
“Yes please!” He said, dreamily. “I could listen to you talk all day.”
You giggled, squeezing his hand in between yours. “Is this just another way of flirting or do you really need help with this assignment?” you asked with a grin.
“Why can’t it be both?” he replied.
You shook your head but continued on reading his palm. “This one is the heart line. It stops right before your middle finger, which means you have difficulty expressing your emotions to those you love. It feathers out quite a bit, I think this may mean you’ll have many lovers in your life.” you said jokingly. This was obvious to you of course, Sirius shared his love three ways already between you, James and Remus.
“Lucky me,” he muttered, smirking over at you and winking.
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
“Hello sunshine.” you heard from beside you. Your attention snapped up to James making his way up to where you were sat under a shady oak tree in the gardens of the castle. It was a lovely day and you decided to take full advantage of the rare sunny weather. You were still on the book about the works and uses of prophecies, not finding the time to finish it.
“Hello James,” you said, smiling up at the tall, bespeckled figure. “What can I help you with?”
“Nothing at all!,” he answered. “Actually, I saw something in Hogsmeade and thought you would like it.”
“A present?” you asked, pretending to be shocked. In reality, it was very much like James to grab something for you while out in the town. He did it fairly often, always bringing you back candies or trinkets.
He chuckled and said “Close your eyes.”
You listened to him, shutting your eyes and holding out your hands for him to set the present in. You felt something hard and cold placed in your cupped hands. You didn’t peek until you heard him say you could look.
You opened your eyes to see a small amethyst tower laying on its side. You gasped and looked up at James. “Thank you!” you exclaimed. “I need to put one under my pillow! I’ve been sleeping awful lately.” you explained.
“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that,” he said, sitting down next to you under the tree, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. He traced his fingers along your upper arm in a sweet and comforting way. “Bad dreams?”
“Sorta.” you answered, resting your head on his shoulder.
“Well, what are they about? Sometimes it’s good to talk about them and analyze them.” he explained.
You looked at him sideways “Yes James, I too take divination.” you answered him sarcastically.
“Exactly! You should know that better than anyone else!” he chuckled.
“Fine, fine,” you laughed. “They're mostly about interplanetary rivalries, you know, Venus and Jupiter. And all the placements growing closer to conjunction, causing all sorts of chaos and interesting events here on Earth. Do you know what I’m talking about?”
He blinked at you. “No idea. I know about half of the words you just said.”
You laughed and shoved him gently. “Well that was no help, Potter.”
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
You were finally settling down, opening your book to the chapter you had left off on. You didn’t make it two seconds before you felt a presence beside you. You thought you would be safe in the library, you thought wrong.
You turned to see Remus setting up some parchment and his quill. He smiled at you and continued. You thought that maybe he would be engrossed in his work and maybe leave you to your reading. You were wrong.
“Hey Y/N, you have a moment?” he leaned over and whispered.
You shut your book yet again, looking over to him to continue.
“You read runes right?” he asked, still quiet as not to disturb the studying students around you both.
You nodded. “Yeah, I got an Outstanding in my OWLS.”
His face lit up as he said, “Great, well, I was wondering if you would be willing to tudor some students in my study group. There’s a few kids taking rune reading for the first time and they said they needed some help, so I wanted to ask the expert.” You suspected he was laying on the compliments to make you say yes to tutoring some younger years.
You laughed off his flattery, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. “Well, I am no expert, not yet at least,” you said, “But I can help any way I can.”
He sighed in relief. “Thank you so much, Y/N. I really will owe you.”
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
When you agreed to help tutor for Remus, you didn’t expect two of the pupils to be both James and Sirius. They sat there, textbooks open and puzzled looks smeared across their faces. You didn’t mind terribly, they were your boyfriends after all, perhaps they would thank you with more presents and sweets.
You figured Remus roped you into tutoring them because he did not have the patience for teaching both boys with the shortest attention span in probably the while school..
You helped them with a few assignments that they couldn’t quite grasp. Both boys struggled with rune reading, tarot card reading, and naval chart reading. You did your best to help walk them through it, but after about an hour, you could tell they were becoming frustrated with it all.
“But I’m a Scorpio,” Sirius said, “I was born in November.”
“I know that Sirius, but that is your sun sign.” you tried to explain. “There are many more signs. For example, your moon sign which is in Taurus.”
“Ugh, this is stupid!” Sirius said, frustrated and tired.
“Honestly, divination is pretty much useless nowadays, it’s not even reliable, there is no proof it’s real.” James chimed in.
You were taken back by their comments. “Just because you two don’t automatically excel in it, doesn’t mean that it is stupid or useless.” you said, hurt that they felt that way about something you were very passionate about, something you loved and were good at, something you wanted to make into a career. You knew that a lot of people didn’t take divination seriously, that it was considered somewhat of an old wives tale. But you didn’t think that the boys, the people you thought cared about you the most, would think your passions were so miniscule and not as important as their own.
“W-we didn’t mean it like that,” James said, starting to back peddle. “We just mean, we’re not good at it so…”
“So you think it’s stupid?” you ask.
“No!” James says, becoming pink in the face, not enjoying the outcome of this conversation at all.
“Don't listen to them,” you heard Remus say, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you into his side, seeing that you were hurt and wanting to comfort you a little. “They’re just upset that they have to finally work hard at a form of magic.”
It’s true, James and Sirius both were incredible wizards, it came easy to them. You often thought that they were just made of magic, that they didn’t ever have to try in any of their classes.
“I might not be able to transfigure a barrel into a slipper on my first try, but you definitely couldn’t explain the difference between quartz and tigers eye and their respective uses.” you say to them.
“That’s why we want your help, Y/N. You know this doesn’t come easy to us. And to you, you're just so in tune with it, it’s like you have this rare, secret talent for it.” Sirius says. You’re still offended, but the compliments were helping.
“We don’t know how you do it, honestly.” Added James.
“Fine… I’ll still help you,” you said, they smiled apologetically at you. “But you have to do all my history of magic papers for the rest of the month.”
Sirius groaned but agreed, saying that it wouldn’t be too hard, just take a lot of time.
“Ok fine, but you have to teach us ovomancy and capnomancy too.” James bargained.
“Deal,” you said happily, excited to share your knowledge with the boys.

“Dove,” Remus breathes, a false picture of calmness even though concern seeps into his tone. “Deep breaths, please. Deep breaths for me.”
His thumb continued to apply gentle pressure between your shoulder blades as you sit there, red-rimmed eyes and tear-streaked cheeks. Remus thinks he can feel his heart breaking everytime you sniffle, the pitiful sound from deep inside your chest.
The two of you sit by the black lake, the moon lighting up the space. This was almost a weekly occurrence; both of you pulling yourselves out of your other two boyfriends’ sleepy embraces to sneak out and sit together on the expanse of grass.
You’d talk about the blood-thirsty monsters haunting parts of you till the sun started to rise, and fall asleep holding each other’s hands. The next morning, you’d wake up on the grass wrapped in James’ arms with Sirius peppering kisses all over your faces, and everything would be alright again.
This time was different, though; Remus knew it, and he was sure that by some form of instinct, James and Sirius would be able to sense it too despite the distance.
You were absolutely distraught, and he had no idea why. The two of you were sitting in silence when you broke down all of a sudden, and now he was desperate to make you smile again.
He was right — soon enough, the shuffling of leaves and poorly concealed whispers could be heard behind you.
“I told you something was wrong!”
“What? What’s wrong? The only thing wrong here is that they’re getting cosy without us!” Remus can hear Sirius grumbling, unable to stop a small smile from curving his lips despite the situation.
“Pads! She’s crying,” James huffs quietly.
Within seconds, Sirius rushes to crouch down in front of you, his eyes wide with panic. His eyebrows are bunched in concern, mouth set in a frown. “What’s wrong?” he asks, his voice coming out shriller than he intended to.
You tense and shrug noncommittally, gaze fixed on the ground as you try to blink away the tears blurring your vision. He softens slightly upon seeing the look on your face and gently takes your hands.
Sirius opens his mouth to speak again but James holds a finger to his lips, a silent plea to let you be. He rolls his eyes but keeps his mouth closed, starting to rub your palms with his thumbs.
James looks at Remus quizzically for an explanation, to which he shrugs — he had no idea what had triggered you so terribly. James sighs, and you feel his warmth instantly as he sits down beside you.
“Hi angel,” he murmurs, turning to you with a small smile. He reaches out and brushes a few strands of hair off your face, and you find yourself involuntarily leaning into his touch.
“Hello,” you mumble.
James feels his heart sink at the sound of your defeated voice, and he can tell how much effort it was taking you to hold back tears. “Can you tell us why you’re upset?”
“I… I don’t—“ you warble, “I’m fine, really.”
It takes all of Sirius’ willpower not to roll his eyes at your blatant lie. “Love, you’re crying. Just spit it out.”
Remus and James both turn to glare at Sirius, but he just shrugs and eyes you impatiently. Apparently, Sirius’ goad was all you needed to get you started. “I was just…. I don’t wanna be alone,” you croak pathetically.
Remus’ ministrations on your back still immediately, completely abandoning his project as he drops his arm to the ground. Sirius furrows his eyebrows, looking at you strangely as though you were some sort of crossword puzzle.
“Alone?” James echoed, pouting with puzzlement. “What… what do you mean, alone? You have us, sweetheart. We’re never leaving you.”
“Yeah,” Sirius pipes up, gently lifting one of your hands to press a chaste kiss to your knuckles.
“But you are,” you insist, and James can hear the desperation in your voice. He tugs you closer to him, wrapping a strong arm around your shoulder silently.
“Why would we ever leave you?” Remus speaks up softly, lifting a hand to gently comb through your hair. “What did we do to make you think that we would?”
“It’s not— you guys didn’t—“ you let out a frustrated sob, roughly raking your fingers through your hair. There was no easy way to go about this conversation, and you hated yourself for having to do this to them.
James makes a pitiful sound in the back of his throat and starts rubbing your arm encouragingly. He presses a quick kiss to your hairline, feeling more worried by the minute.
Sirius squeezes your hands firmly, applying pressure until it hurt and you finally raise your eyes to look at him. You’re scared of the anger, or worse — disappointment — you’d find, but there’s a bountiful amount of love in his gaze. He looks at you imploringly, saying nothing yet everything with his eyes.
You sigh shakily. “You’re all gonna die one day, and… and you’re gonna leave me here. Alone,” you warble, your voice growing softer with each word until your last one came out as a whisper. “And — and I’ll have to live without you, and I’ll be so loveless, and —“
James can’t take it anymore, and pulls you into his lap without warning, bringing your head to his chest. The walls of your dam start to break as you let out a sob, feeling the fear and sadness pouring out of you. He rubs small circles into your back, nestling his chin in your hair as he glances at his boyfriends worriedly.
You’re scared; to say the least. The three of them had been by your side for years, and your world revolved around them. You didn’t think you knew what else to live for if it wasn’t for them, their bright grins and heartfelt love. The way James crouched slightly to hug you, how Sirius pulled you into his side and peppered kisses all over your face, Remus’ hand in yours as he pressed his lips to your own — you didn’t think you could last a day without them and their endearing little quirks.
Living alone wasn’t something you had in you to do; because it wasn’t really living if it wasn’t with them. The thought of waking up in an empty bed sends a shudder through you as you squeeze your eyes impossibly tighter.
“Baby,” Sirius speaks softly, and your heart clenches at the way his voice cracks. He places a hand on the nape of your neck, slowly rubbing up and down. “Maybe… maybe you won’t have us in the future. But —“
That was the wrong thing to say, as you let out a wail and cling impossibly harder to James. Remus flicks the side of Sirius’ head chidingly as James rolls his eyes. Sirius lets out a sad exhale, blinking away tears. He never knows how to fix things.
The tall boy notices the way Sirius’ head was lowered, and immediately wraps both arms around him, pressing kisses to his hair. James tries not to smile upon seeing Sirius melt into his touch.
He locks eyes with Remus, and nods quietly to let him know he can handle it.
“Angel,” James coaxes softly. “Look up at me, please?”
You sniffle softly, raising your head to meet his gaze. James frowns when he sees your puffy red eyes, reaching out to wipe your tears.
“Do you love us for our bodies?”
The question catches you off guard, your eyebrows arching. Was he joking? In a situation like this? You hear the unmistakable sound of Remus snorting behind you. “What?”
“I said,” James repeated, “do you love us for our bodies?”
“No!” you splutter, some of your melancholy leaving to make way for confusion. “What — why —“
“Exactly,” James says firmly, immediately shutting you up with the sincerity in his voice. “You don’t love us for our bodies, for our physicality. You love us for us, for our love. And let me tell you, our love is something that’s gonna stay with you until the end of time.”
You immediately soften at his words. “But I won’t have you here, you won’t be —“
“We will,” James responds softly, jabbing a finger into the left side of your chest. “We will be here. Right here.”
You feel your heart swell with sad affection; feeling nostalgia towards something that hasn’t even happened yet.
Remus scoots forward to wrap his arms around your waist, pulling your back snug against his chest. “And we’re here with you now. We’re going to be with you for years, dove. We’re not going anywhere anytime soon, okay?”
You let your eyes flutter closed, let yourself indulge for a moment as you nod blindly. It was impossible for you to stay upset when your boys were comforting you with saccharine voices and sweet touches. Perhaps they were right, they always were.
You hear a sniffle from your left, and open your eyes to look at Sirius. He had tears running down his cheeks, and was looking at you with his mouth open and a heartbroken look on his face. Remus let out a quiet chuckle, and you turn to give him a death glare as you crawl out of his lap and over to Sirius.
Sirius immediately pulls you into a strangling hug, burying his face in the crook of your neck as he cries. “Why are you crying?” James questions, bemused with the slightest hint of concern in his tone.
“My poor baby, she’s gonna be all alone,” he blubbered, earning a small smile from you. He pulls away and raises his head to look at you, gripping your cheeks with a fervour and desperation you’ve never seen before. “I’m gonna write you a letter everyday, so you can read them all when I’m gone. And… and I’ll make you a scrapbook of my most handsome pictures.”
You smile indulgently at him. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” he blabs on, wiping his nose. “And we can make sex tapes in case you’re extra horny when you’re old, and…”
“Okay, I think that’s enough,” Remus says loudly, earning a giggle from you as James swats the back of Sirius’ head.
You rest your head on Sirius’ shoulder, feeling James peck your cheek and Remus’ arm wrapping around your waist.
Grief was inevitable, but it was just love coming back to haunt you, wasn’t it? Even after they passed, you’d find them in the way the wind travels on chilly nights, the glimmer of the sun at dawn, and maybe even the occasional sex tape. In everything you see, you would see them.
Their unconditional devotion to you transcended the blurry lines of mortality, and you knew that as long as your heart continued to beat, they would never stop loving you. James was right — they had left the mark of their love in every corner of your heart and home; and weren’t ever going to leave you alone.

Sparks Fly
Poly!Marauders x fem!reader
Words: ~7.4k
Loosely inspired by Sparks Fly by Taylor Swift
You would be attending your seventh year at Hogwarts in the next few days, and, as a muggle-born witch, you would be sorely missing your iPhone. Modern things like cell phones, smart watches, and ballpoint pens weren’t allowed on castle grounds. So there you were, the day before taking the train back to school, downloading as many songs as you could into your old iPod nano. It was old tech, but it was sturdy, it could hold a charge, and it was easily concealable. Muggle contraband was frowned upon but you figured your head of house would be understanding if you got caught.
Professor Granger-Weasley was a legend, and you were lucky to be in Gryffindor house under her watchful eye. You’d heard even more wonderful things about her predecessor, Professor McGonagall, but that was before your time. Professor Granger-Weasley was one of the rebel witches and wizards who took down Voldemort in the second wizarding war.
Professor Longbottom was also among the list, but you had a huge girl crush on your head of house. It was hard not to, she was independent and powerful while still maintaining her femininity and soft touch.
The only thing you weren’t looking forward to this year was seeing your ex-girlfriend. A Ravenclaw who was more focused on her studies than your relationship, you were still shocked and heartbroken this past spring when she broke things off.
However, you thought as you walked up to the castle for your last year, this is going to be my busiest year yet, no room to worry about romance.
You see, you’d be taking extra classes this year. Your head of house had expressed to you that you could use her time turner to make sure you could attend all the classes that you wanted. You were ambitious, and headstrong. It was going to be awesome.
The issue, however, was that as you were going to use it for the first time on day one of the school year, your ex ran smack into you, causing you to lose your grip on the spinning rings that encompassed the tiny hourglass. It also caused you to crash into the corner you were hiding in and knock your head into the wall.
Suddenly your vision was filled with a blurring whirlwind of students, all in Hogwarts uniforms, walking as if rewinding on double speed. Once you regained your ability to move (ow, your head hurt), you paused the spinning of the time turner and took a deep breath.
Fuck.
“Fuck,” you groaned, rubbing the back of your head and coming out of the corner. You needed to figure out what time it was. Unfortunately, you were met with another student running straight at you, red and gold tie flying out of his cloak and fluttering behind him as he looked back. “Fuck!” You backed up but there was nowhere to go, he turned at your voice and all you got a glimpse of was a pair of wide eyes behind a pair of thick glass and a head of curly dark hair. He knocked your head back into the wall and the only thing you could think of as you felt a searing pain in your skull was that there was no way you’d gone far enough back to see Harry Potter’s days at Hogwarts.
When you woke up, you were in the infirmary. Blinking, you looked around and the bespectacled boy, who was decidedly not Harry Potter (but who had a very strong resemblance to him), perked up at your alertness.
“Hey, I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to run into you. Was in a bit of a hurry. Madam Pomfrey’s taking good care of you, though,” his words blurred into the background as you took in your surroundings. Things looked similar, but your infirmary had a different nurse by a different name. You didn’t know a Madam Pomfrey. You must have gone back further than you thought. The thought sent a panicked jolt through you as your heart rate skyrocketed. Fuck.
“What… Um,” you paused, not sure who to trust with this information. But you didn’t have anybody else, and this guy had waited by your bedside to make sure you were okay. “What year is it?” His tanned skin blanched and his eyes went wide.
“Have you got a worse concussion than I thought? I didn’t think I ran into you that hard. I’ll call for-” you reached out and grasped his arm before he could stand.
“That’s not it,” you sighed. “I was using a time turner and my ex girlfriend ran into me and I messed up my calculations and I was supposed to go back about an hour and a half and I think I’ve come back like… several years.” You put your best pleading look on your face to make yourself seem genuine, you needed him to believe you.
“Well,” he drew the word out, and you sort of liked the way his lips wrapped around it. He had a nice voice. “I can help you figure that out, even if it does sound a bit unbelievable. What year did you come from?” He was smiling awfully disarmingly, and you sighed, internally bracing yourself.
“Twenty twenty-four.”
Your assailant went through what looked like all the stages of grief before landing on hesitant acceptance. So you were further back than you thought.
“I hate to be the one to tell you this,” he said in that smooth voice, and you closed your eyes against the headache you knew was coming. “It’s nineteen seventy-seven.”
“James, did you hit the poor girl so hard she forgot what year it was?” Another voice approached, but your mind was reeling. 1977. You were trying to think of any famous James’ but that’s such a common name and you were always awful at wizarding history.
That was, until the second person walked up. Sirius Black. A very young Sirius Black.
“Sirius Black?” Your brain-to-mouth filter must have broken.
James looked over at you, eyebrow raised, as if saying I thought you were from the future.
“He’s,” you paused, both their inquisitive sets of eyes on you. “He’s famous where I’m from,” you muttered, eyes searching around. If that was Sirius Black, this must be James Potter. Oh, Merlin. You were in for it.
“She’s from the future,” James deadpanned to his friend, and you facepalmed. Like, literally. You slapped your hand to your face.
However, Sirius seemed to take his friend at his word, only raising an eyebrow at that bold declaration.
“Please don’t tell anyone else,” you groaned and turned your legs over the side of the cot you were on to make your way to standing, despite your pounding headache.
“Well we’re going to have to tell Moony and Wormtail,” James added matter-of-factly. “Friends don’t keep secrets this big from each other.” You groaned and stretched, cracking your aching back in the process.
“You can do that. I need to make a plan,” you took a step forward. Or, you tried to. Maybe you were actually concussed, because you wobbled a bit and nearly fell over. You would have crumbled to the floor if not for James and Sirius’ quick reflexes.
“I may be worse off than I originally thought,” you grumbled. “But I am fine,” you pulled your arms and waist free from their strong arms and took a much slower step. “See? I’m fine.” You were a bit lightheaded and your head hurt more than a bit. But if you were going to fix this, you’d need to see the headmaster.
You knew they were watching you, and you were studiously ignoring it. So studiously, in fact, that when you finally made it to the entrance, you ran into what must have been either an immovable object or an unstoppable force for the millionth time that day. Yet again, before you crumpled into the floor like a broken toy, strong arms reached out and helped you up.
“Sorry about that, beautiful,” you blinked slowly and looked up into another magnificent face. This one was littered with scars and freckles.
“They don’t make boys this pretty where I’m from,” as soon as the words left your mouth you wished you’d died on the spot. However, the boy (who must have been Remus Lupin) only smiled at you indulgently.
“On second thought,” James called out. “I think I knocked her into the wall harder than I thought.”
That was your introduction to the Marauders. You met Peter soon after. He’d been distracting the professor James was running from. They walked you to the Gryffindor common room, explaining that it might be best to recuperate while the headmaster was out of town.
“I really am sorry for running into you,” James was apologizing for the umpteenth time, and you were beginning to get the feeling that he was a real softie. Big muscles, strong jaw, but a big teddy bear inside.
“It’s alright,” you said for the millionth time. “You were the second person to knock me into a wall headfirst today, and the first time I think was on purpose. So you’re really in my good graces. You’re just clumsy.”
“Someone knocked you into a wall on purpose?” Remus looked rather concerned, eyebrows pulling together from where he perched in a comfy looking armchair in an even comfier looking sweater.
“Oh yeah, you did say that your ex ran into you,” James nodded to himself. “Though I didn’t think she did it on purpose.” You were trying to ignore the raised eyebrows of your new acquaintances. Maybe people weren’t cool about bisexuals in the seventies?
“Yeah well she was a Ravenclaw. They are notoriously bad at interactions with other people,” you grumbled. “I thought I could change her,” you shrugged humorlessly. “I was wrong. She still harbors ill feelings towards me.”
They were still looking at you quietly.
The silence dragged on.
“Look, I know it’s like the nineteen hundreds but if you’re homophobes we’re going to have issues,” you put on your deadliest glare (or… whatever you could put on your face with the headache plaguing you).
Peter barked out a laugh, which seemed a bit unlike him. He’d been a quiet and nice boy, nothing like the traitor you knew him to grow up to be. Four sets of eyes snapped to him and he rolled his eyes.
“You don’t have to worry about us being homophobes,” Peter elaborated, and, well… You supposed you would have to take him at his word. You shrugged.
“So, if the headmaster is gone, what do I do? I don’t want to mess with the time turner and end up even further back. I don’t even know if it goes forward,” you asked when the night was deepening.
“You could talk to Minnie in the morning,” Sirius recommended. Right, they had mentioned Professor McGonagall at some point earlier. You were going to fangirl to death.
“But I don’t have clothes or a room or identification. All I have is what’s in my pockets which is literally just my,” you reached in and felt around. “A handful of galleons and my iPod.” You were met with questioning looks and you sighed. Right. 1977. “It plays music.”
You pulled it out of your pocket, the old corded headphones all knotted up. As you untangled them you explained that you could download digital music onto it. You weren’t sure if it made any sense to them, so you told them you’d show them some other time.
“It’s muggle tech, and it’s from the early 2000s. So it’s old by my standards,” you shrugged.
“Hey, what am I famous for?” Sirius finally asked after a beat of silence. You swallowed, mouth suddenly dry. You couldn’t just tell him that he wrongfully spent twelve years in Azkaban. You’d have to word it carefully.
“You saved the child of the prophecy and helped in the effort to win the war.”
“The war?”
“I feel like I am genuinely going to fuck something up if I tell you any more,” the words were said apologetically. You weren’t sure what else to say.
“Well, we can always ask Lily if they have an empty bed. Her roommate is always sneaking off to Ravenclaw tower to stay with her boyfriend,” Remus was back on task and you were grateful for the reprieve.
“Nah, they’re all there tonight. They’re having a lovers’ quarrel,” James replied, and your hopes of getting a good nights’ sleep shriveled up.
“Well then,” Sirius made a show of looking thoughtful. “You could stay in our room, though it’s against school rules to have a girl in the boys’ dormitory.” You weighed your options and only came to one conclusion.
“Rules were meant to be broken,” you smiled awkwardly. “That is, if you all don’t mind. I can sleep on the floor if you have an extra pillow.”
“Nonsense,” Sirius stood and reached his hand out to you, which you gratefully took. You were still a bit unsteady on your feet. “I’ll share with Jamesie and you can have my bed.”
James groaned loudly, complaining that Sirius was a cuddler and a portable heater once asleep, but you could see his tanned cheeks darkening with a flush. That was curious.
“As long as you don’t-” Sirius cut you off with a wave of his hand.
“Don’t worry. It’s not a hardship to help out someone in need,” he smiled over at you, and you tried to think back on his history. You were always awful at history but if you remembered correctly he moved in with the Potter’s sometime during his teenage years. Maybe he was paying the kindness forward.
The issue, however, was that you were in a room full of four boys in various states of undress. Pajamas was a loose term for what they wore. And you were still in your uniform.
“Here,” you looked up to see Remus leaning against Sirius’ bunk with a pile of clothes folded neatly in his grasp. “We’ve given you a few options since you don’t seem to have any sleeping clothes. James will keep watch outside the bathroom door if you want to clean up.” You looked over and the muscular boy was giving you a thumbs up. “We can send your uniform to be cleaned by the house elves overnight.” You nodded mutely, overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers.
“Thank you.” With that, you collected the stack of pajamas and James led you to the bathroom, which he quickly scouted and declared clear.
Once inside, you exhaled deeply. This was a ginormous clusterfuck.
You were glad, however, to find a towel and a bar of soap at the bottom of the stack. Cleaning up would definitely help clear your mind.
Once clean, you changed into a pair of sweatpants that were too long for you, a white t-shirt, and a sweater that must have belonged to Remus.
“Hey,” you cracked the door open and found James’ back facing you.
“You done?”
You hummed your assent and he turned, giving you a goofy smile.
“Those don’t fit you very well.”
“Not everyone is ten feet tall, you know,” you rolled your eyes and followed the boy back into the dorm room.
Once you were sat on Sirius’ bed, you felt the weight of your situation closing in on you, your heart pitter-pattering at breakneck pace.
“So,” you started, drawing the word out as you picked at your nails. “I think I’m probably gonna have a menty b pretty soon, so if you don’t mind I’ll just close the curtains and consider my existence in silence.” There was a pregnant pause and you battled on. “I don’t mean to be rude, but I need to deal with the feelings I’m feeling right now.”
More pause.
“What, in Merlin’s name, is a ‘menty b’?” Sirius’ eyebrows were up in his hairline and you choked on a laugh that sounded more like a sob.
“Uh, mental breakdown?” It sounded like a question when you said it, but it took a moment for you to realize that slang was a lot different in 1977 than it was in your time.
“Are you going to be alright?” That was Remus, and you were beginning to get the sense that he was reading your facial expressions and tone of voice more effectively than the others.
“Probably,” you shrugged. “But my other option is succumbing to the crushing meaninglessness of life, so,” you paused for drama this time. “I can suck it up, I just need a good cry and I’m not about to do that in front of four strangers.”
“Fair enough,” Sirius muttered to himself.
“So is everyone in the future so nihilistic?” Peter asked you, and you quirked an eyebrow at him. “What?” He asked, defensive. “Nietzsche was a wizard. He just dabbled in muggle philosophy from time to time.”
“Well, to answer your question, I would say that my generation is. But like nihilistic in the ‘nothing matters so I can do what I want’ way. Whereas the generation that preceded me is more ‘nothing matters and I’m fucking depressed about it’ way.”
You were met with confused looks. You sighed, there was no way you could explain the nuances of millennials, gen z, and gen alpha in one night.
“I’ll explain later. Goodnight, boys!” You smiled more cheerfully than you were feeling, and shut the curtains to Sirius’ bed, casting a silencing charm as you did so.
You inhaled deeply, and exhaled until you couldn’t anymore.
There’s nothing I can do tonight. Not until the headmaster is back. Tomorrow I’ll talk to the head of house and see about going to classes.
Until then…
You tucked your earbuds into your ears and selected a playlist that would maybe take your mind off the situation.
The way you move is like a full on rainstorm
And I'm a house of cards
You're the kind of reckless that should send me running
But I kinda know that I won't get far
And you stood there in front of me just
Close enough to touch
Close enough to hope you couldn't see
What I was thinking of
Drop everything now
Meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk
Take away the pain
'Cause I see sparks fly, whenever you smile
Get me with those green eyes, baby
As the lights go down
Gimme something that'll haunt me when you're not around
'Cause I see sparks fly, whenever you smile
You had the mind to turn off your iPod when you woke in the middle of the night, not wanting it to die. The next time you woke, it was to a knock on the wood frame of the bed.
“I’m up, I’m up,” you groaned and pulled open the curtains, the pinkish yellow early morning sun shining in.
“If you want to talk to Minnie, you’ll have to catch her before breakfast,” James was whispering, and you peeked out to see Remus, Peter, and Sirius still asleep in their beds.
“Why are you up?” You rubbed at your eyes and swung yourself out of bed, pleased to see your uniform had been returned by the house elves. “I mean, thank you,” you offered him a soft smile, which he returned tenfold. “But why are you up?”
“Gotta go for a run. I’ll see you later, no more running into walls, alright? Don’t want you doing any more damage to that pretty head of yours,” and with that, he was gone, leaving you flushed in the morning light.
Jeez, handsome and flirty. I’m not going to survive it here.
It wasn’t hard to find Professor McGonagall, and when she saw you, she stopped dead in her tracks.
“Hi, Professor, I’ve been looking for you,” you approached her slowly as she raised an eyebrow at you, and you took that as your sign to keep going. It all came out in one long sentence, but your nerves were getting the best of you, to be fair. “So I was using my time turner to go back to take an extra class but someone knocked into me and it went back too far, like fifty years too far approximately, and I don’t know how to get back and I’d like to talk to the headmaster but I hear he’s not here right now,” you inhaled super deeply and pushed on. “And I’m a really good student I swear, I just don’t want to miss any classes until I get back so I was wondering if you could help me out?”
Stunned. Flabbergasted. Shocked. That’s what you were expecting. What you got instead was exasperation.
“If this tomfoolery has to do with the mischievous boys in your house, I suggest you stop it now.”
“The - who?” Was all you could get out, and the exasperation only increased.
“Potter, Black, Lupin, Pettigrew. Do these names ring a bell?”
“Well yes, but only because I’ve just met them. I promise I’m not lying. I’m in Gryffindor, I go to Hogwarts, I’m a seventh year student and it’s autumn of 2024 where I’m from.”
She looked at you for a long time then, and you figured she could tell you were being truthful based on your desperation.
“We will discuss this with the headmaster as soon as he returns. I will have a schedule prepared for you by the end of the day and you will start tomorrow. You would do well not to bring attention to yourself Miss…”
You gave her your name.
“If you’ll excuse me, my day just got busier.”
When she was out of sight, you let out a big breath you’d been holding.
I can do this, I just need to lay low until the headmaster shows up.
“Hiya,” you whipped around at the new voice and cursed yourself for it, your head spiking with pain that you’d forgotten about. Maybe quick movements were to be avoided for the time being. “Haven’t seen you around here before, but you’ve got a Gryffindor tie on. Are you new?”
You were staring. You needed to stop staring. Start talking.
“Yes, I transferred from Beauxbatons.” The lie flowed out of you so smoothly you almost felt guilty.
“Why on earth would you leave a posh school like that to come here?” She was laughing, she had such a pretty laugh, and you found yourself smiling.
“It’s a long story,” you shrugged.
“Well, Miss Mysterious, I’m Lily Evans, you can sit with me at breakfast today if you’d like.”
It was just then that your stomach growled audibly.
But more importantly. Lily Evans. Holy shit.
You followed her to the great hall and sat down all in a state of numbness. She was an icon. A total badass. And you’d just met her.
“Hullo, boys. This here is my new friend. She just transferred from Beauxbatons. Go on, introduce yourself,” she was looking at you expectantly and you turned to look at the rest of the table. A few other incredibly attractive women and the four boys you met last night who were giving you wide eyes.
You gave your name with a tight smile and prayed they would play along.
They did, for now, but you weren't sure how long you could keep up lying in front of these legends. Sure, the boys knew about you, but you couldn’t expect them to keep a secret forever. Especially Peter, a known secret teller.
You explained to them that it was a short notice transfer and you wouldn’t have a schedule until tomorrow, but you’d been sorted into Gryffindor. Luckily, they didn’t ask any more questions and you were left to eat.
The day flew by and if you were being honest, the next few did as well. Professor McGonagall gave you a typical seventh year schedule so your first few days weren’t stressful. She also assigned you a single room in the girls dormitory and gave you more uniforms. It meant you were lonely a lot, and you found yourself sitting in the common room a lot, reading or doing homework while you plotted your return home.
It was Thursday of your first week in 1977 when Remus came to sit with you. You finished your homework reading and looked over at him. He was nice to be around, you could work in silence and still feel comfortable.
“Haven’t seen you outside of class in a few days, we’ve been a bit worried you’d gone back to the infirmary for that concussion,” he was giving you a disarmingly gentle smile and you found yourself returning it.
“No, just a headache now. And I’m really just waiting for the headmaster to get back so I can figure this all out. Though, I miss my roommates. Living in a single room is lonely.”
He frowned at that.
“Can’t have that, why don’t you come to Hogsmeade with us this weekend? You can grab some essentials that I’m sure you’re missing, and we can get some more time with you.”
You found, yet again, the heat rushing to your face at the thought of time spent with such handsome boys. You nodded anyway.
“I would like that.”
So, there you were, that Saturday, sitting in the Three Broomsticks with Sirius, James, and Remus (Peter was behind on his potions essay and was staying back). James and Sirius sat on one side of the booth, rather close together. You were beginning to think the three of them were in some sort of polyamorous situationship based on their casual proximity, their familiarity, and the sheer amount of physical contact they had with each other. But then you were seated next to Remus, whose sweater smelled of pine needles and wood and warm cozy things. And the reason you knew what he smelled like? He was seated so close to you that your thighs were maybe an inch apart, his arm slung across the back of the booth as he lounged back. He looked ever-so casual, but you were intensely aware of his presence.
His proximity to you and the general flirting you’d been the recipient of the last few days from the boys you sat with were the only reason you thought maybe they weren’t in a relationship. Because why would they flirt with you if they were? It was all so fucking confusing.
Your attention was drawn back to the topic at hand by a slight tapping against your shoulder. Sirius and James were arguing about something, and despite his touch, Remus looked engaged in the debate.
“What do you think, sweetheart?” James suddenly turned to face you.
“Yes, what do you think? Do you think Hufflepuff is going to beat us in the Quidditch finals this year?”
You scoffed a laugh.
“Hufflepuff hasn’t won a Quidditch final in sixty years. There’s no-” you cut yourself off abruptly, heart in your throat. “I need to stop talking.”
James was grinning, though.
“Told you so,” he stuck his tongue out at Sirius, and things were back to normal.
The next few days you were much more careful about what you said about the future. One slip up was minor, but it was really hard. The other thing you were struggling with was that the longer you stayed in 1977, the less you remembered why you had to keep your distance, why you had to be careful.
So, there you were, seated in the Gryffindor common room later that month, worried sick. The full moon had passed a few days ago and you hadn’t seen any of the boys outside of class since.
Gnawing your lip, you tried to get back into your novel.
“You said Sirius was famous where you’re from,” Remus suddenly dropped into the space beside you with a soft sigh, his arm draping around your shoulders.
You hummed your confirmation as Peter, James, and Sirius all filed through and greeted you on their way to their room.
“What about the rest of us?”
“What about you?”
He sighed, and you only noticed you were staring at him when he turned to look at you.
“You’re being intentionally obtuse,” he didn’t say it meanly, but you still felt guilty.
“I don’t think I should tell you why you’re all famous,” you mumbled, thinking about all of their horrible lives. His fingers started tracing shapes into the skin of your arm where they laid, and you found it difficult to concentrate.
“I suppose that’s fair,” and again, you were staring. You saw the muscles in his jaw tense and release as if he was thinking about something stressful. “I just want to know,” he pressed his free hand into his face, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I just want to know what you know about-” he paused and seemed to lose his nerve, sighing deeply and resting his head against the back of the couch.
You took a short moment to admire his profile before putting him out of his misery. First, though, you checked that you were alone in the common room.
“You know, I think we all have issues. I mean, Sirius comes from a shitty family. Peter always gets left out of things. James always gets underestimated. My family disowned me when they found out I liked girls. But what I’m trying to say is, we all have issues and we have to find the people that care about us despite them, and love us because of them. That’s what we in the future like to call a Found Family. And yeah, family isn’t always the one you’re born into. Sometimes a family is a werewolf and three unregistered animagi.”
You’d been looking into each other's eyes since the start of your little rant, the soft look in his gaze turning into bewilderment.
“Really, it doesn’t matter why you’re famous, or what I heard about you before I met you,” you continued, taking a risk and gently holding his free hand between both of yours. “What matters is that you all helped me when I needed it, and I won’t forget it. And I’m forming my opinions of you based on what I know from your actions now, not what I read in a Daily Prophet clipping.”
“You’re amazing,” the words were quiet, spoken reverently. You were forgetting again why it was a bad idea to give in to their flirting.
“I mean, if you thought I was that amazing, you could just kiss me,” you shrugged, giving him a little grin. “Just saying.”
He huffed a little laugh through his nose before he leaned down and kissed you with the softest lips. It was so gentle and wonderful and you felt his eyelashes tickle your cheek as he cupped your jaw and it was all perfect. Just perfect.
“I meant to talk to you earlier about something but then the full moon happened and you were sitting here looking all beautiful and worried and I couldn’t help but ask if you thought I was a monster.” He pulled away a few inches to look at you, his long fingers still cupping your jaw. “But I don’t think I should wait. Because it would be dishonest,” you raised your eyebrows, asking him to go on. “Sirius and James and I are sort of,” he visibly struggled with the word he was looking for. “Well we’re sort of romantically involved, but it’s not a thing with a label,” he was grimacing, as if he knew you’d be mad at him. All you could do was smirk.
“I fucking knew it.”
“You - what?”
“Yeah I could absolutely tell.”
“Oh. Is that why you haven’t flirted back with us?”
“Well to be fair, only you and James have been flirting with me.”
“Sirius hasn’t? He talks about how pretty and nice and special you are all the time.”
“Well he thinks I’m a lesbian so maybe he’s just respecting my boundaries.”
“He-” Remus paused, thinking. “He definitely thinks you’re a lesbian.”
“I think we should prank him,” your statement got a good reaction, Remus laughing joyously and nodding along.
“Okay, what do you have planned?”
“Well, I’ve already somehow gained your affections,” he balked at you, unbelieving. “What? You’re like in the five most attractive people I’ve ever seen in my entire life, you’re smart, funny, popular, and you’re fucking kind. And I am a homeless time traveler with one pair of pajamas to my name.”
“You don’t give yourself enough credit, darling. But I'll have more time to convince you of that. Tell me about this prank.”
“I mean really it’s all to serve my selfish wants,” you laughed a little. “But if the three of you are in an unlabeled but ongoing polyamorous situationship, and all three of you are interested in me, I just think it could be… Let’s say mutually beneficial for the four of us to recognize and act on those feelings. And I think it would be funny for Sirius to find out I’m actually not a lesbian in a dramatic way. However,” you suddenly remembered your exes of years prior. “Who’s to say if you’re even interested in me in any way other than physically. I don’t know that, and I’m being awfully bold in assuming so. So maybe it’s a bad idea? Oh, fuck I’m going to actually have to move schools this is awful.” You were spiraling.
“Please, breathe,” Remus was looking down at you, frown twisted in concern. “I’m speaking for myself here, but I bet the boys would agree, I’m definitely interested in you. You’re gorgeous, dove. But you’ve also shown yourself to be strong willed, warm hearted, and a trusting and genuine person. The three of us boys have some weird will-they-won’t-they thing going on, and it’s frustrating because we have real feelings for eachother, but I’m pretty sure Jamie is the only one who has fully developed emotional skills. And, yeah, we’ve been intimate, but how does one tell his best mate that he wants more than that?” Remus rolled his eyes at himself. “It’s hard. But you made it so easy for us to fall for you. It’s so easy to care about you, so easy to want you.” You were too busy in your panic before to make eye contact but now you were looking into Remus’ blown pupils. “So it’s not crazy, what you’re suggesting. And I definitely think it would be mutually beneficial.”
So you sat on the two-seater sofa in the common room for several more hours whispering into the night, cuddled up to Remus and hatching a plan to get James to make a move on you, and how to reveal your bisexuality to Sirius.
My mind forgets to remind me you're a bad idea
You touch me once and it's really something
You find I'm even better than you imagined I would be
I'm on my guard for the rest of the world
But with you, I know it's no good
Things came to a head sooner rather than later. It was a Gryffindor victory party and James and Sirius were celebrating with the team. You’d spent the week sneaking glances with Remus, kissing sweetly in shadowed corners, and curling up together to read in the common room. You also spent the week being flirted with by James, who always knew how to make heat rise to your face.
You were maybe a bit tipsy an hour or so in, and a boy you didn’t know was asking you about your time at Beauxbatons and telling you how much better Hogwarts was. He was so glad you had come to this party-
“-because I’ve been wanting to talk to you-” you were saved by a similarly tipsy James slinging his arm around your shoulder.
“Hello, lovely,” his smile was brighter than the sun. Truly. You felt blessed just to have his gaze on you. “I saw you in the stands today, I’m glad you came,” the other boy wandered off, but you barely noticed.
“I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.” It was the right response, because you were gifted another beaming smile in return. “Plus, you look really good in the uniform.”
“Is that so?”
“Is what so?” Sirius was grinning as he walked up with three cups balanced in his hands, passing one to James and one to you, which you gratefully took.
“I was just telling James how delicious he looks in the Quidditch uniform,” you blinked innocently, and you could see the gears start to turn in Sirius’ head.
“Delicious?” James breathed the word, as if he hadn’t expected such a descriptive adjective to come out of your lips. It was just then that Remus swept Sirius away while he was distracted, and you clasped your fingers with James’, pulling him towards a darkened alcove.
“And where are you taking me, pretty girl?” His charm was back in full force and you preened under his attention.
“I just wanted to talk to you alone is all,” you replied, letting your back rest against the wall and using James as a privacy shield against the noise and lights of the party.
“Well, you’ve got me,” your fingers were still loosely clasped, and he laid his free hand ever-so-gently on your waist. “What is it you wanted to talk about?”
“I have been scheming,” you started, and his dark eyes had an amused glint to them. “And I’ve been trying to get you to kiss me or ask me on a date, but it’s taking so long,” you drew the word out, whining, but in what you hoped was an endearing way. “And Remus and I thought-”
“Oh, so you’ve roped our dear Moony into your schemes now?” He was smiling softly, his affection for Remus and for you shining through.
“Yes, well, he’s the brains of the operation, I’m the muscle.” you drew your manicured fingers up to grasp at James’ bicep (and what a wonderful bicep it was).
“So, what did the two of you cook up then?”
“Well, Remus is off getting Sirius into position, and I am here seducing you.”
“And what does Sirius have to do with you seducing me?” It was nice, having him this close, only centimeters between you. You could feel the heat off his body, his breath against your cheek.
“Well, I’ve already gained Remus’ affections, and you flirt with me all the time so I was hoping seducing you would work and not totally backfire,” he was amused with your candor, you could tell. “And Sirius, well I’ve also got a major crush on him but he thinks I’m a lesbian.” You shrugged and James let out an incredulous laugh.
“You really were scheming, weren’t you?”
“Well when you’ve gotten emotionally attached to three amazing and beautiful boys who also seem to be pretty emotionally attached to each other,” you gave him a toothy smile. “You’ve got to jump at the chance.” You bit your bottom lip, the tiniest bit of anxiety creeping in. “Which leads me here, to you, in this dark alcove, baring my soul to you and hoping you’ll kiss me.”
“Well how could I deny you when you ask me so politely?” He whispered, adoration shining in his eyes for just a moment before he pressed forward, closing the gap between the two of you. James kissed you like he did everything he cared about: with passion and finesse. He was a great kisser, and he seemed happy to be kissing you, which was a wonderful experience.
The hand on your waist pulled you closer while the other rested at the nape of your neck, gently tilting you so he could explore your mouth better. You found yourself reaching up and feeling the muscles adorning his stomach and chest, your fingers trailing up until you could wrap your arms around his neck.
You only broke away to breathe, and when you looked into James’ adoring eyes, your heart picked up the pace. You hadn’t felt this way since… well, ever. James, Remus, and Sirius made you feel wanted and cared for. It was wonderful.
“So, in this scheme of yours,” James started, laying a few kisses on your exposed neck. “What exactly are Sirius and Remus supposed to be doing right now?”
“Sirius should be walking over in a few seconds, jealous of me for kissing you or of you for kissing me. One or the other, maybe both. And then, well I’m no mind reader,” you peeked over James’ shoulder. “He’s coming over now so I guess we’ll see.”
It only took a moment for the elder Black brother to make it over to the alcove you were partially hidden in.
“Tell me,” he spoke as he approached, shouldering in to stand next to James, eyebrow raised in question. “What have you got our sweet Jamesie in this dark corner for?”
“It’s the art of seduction, Sirius,” you smiled at him indulgently. “I wanted Jamie to kiss me just as much as I wanted you to realize that I like boys as well as girls. Got two birds with one stone.”
“And what are your intentions with him?”
“You should be asking what her intentions are with the three of us,” Remus was leaning against the wall, looking handsome as ever, and Sirius’ eyes shot over to him before landing back on you. He took a moment to process, and then he asked you, with a barely-there smile, what your intentions are with the three of them.
“I have feelings for all three of you, you three clearly have something going on with each other, and I am hoping and praying that you also have feelings for me. In which case, we have three options,” you held up three fingers and put them down as you started listing. “Option one, you don’t like me like that, you let me down softly, and we pretend this never happened. Option two, we go have really great sex because you think i’m attractive but you don’t have feelings for me. Option three, and this is my favorite one, we go on a date. All of us. And see where things go.” Your bravado was wearing thin, your heart in your hands as you waited for a response from any of them.
There was a pause.
“I don’t want to pretend this never happened,” Sirius' voice was quiet and contemplative. “I don’t want to do option two either.” He paused, and you thought you could cry (but you weren’t sure why, you just felt overwhelmed). “I like option three the best, personally, but I’m going to have to consult the board on this one,” he was starting to smile more, that charming twist of his lips that you loved to see. “Boys? What do you think about that?”
“Dating you two and this gorgeous angel? Literally my wildest dreams come true.” James was nearly vibrating with excitement and the three of you turned to Remus.
“Why are you looking at me like that? I literally helped come up with this plan,” despite his words, he softened and reached out to stroke Sirius’ back and lock eyes with him and James in turn. “There was never a doubt in my mind that I wanted to be with you, and our delightful schemer helped make it happen. And isn’t she a sight tonight?” His words had you flushed with heat, the attention of all three suddenly on you.
“Let’s dance, darling,” Sirius reached out to link your fingers together and pulled you out onto the dancefloor. You looked back only for a moment and caught a glimpse of James and Remus embracing in the alcove. “Eyes on me now, pretty girl. They already got to be on the receiving end of your seduction,” his hands were on your hips and yours were around his neck, playing with the baby hairs there. “I also find it unfair that you haven’t kissed me yet,” he was mock pouting in the most endearing way, and you couldn’t help but indulge him, so you pressed your lips to his. For once, everything was falling into place.

hi! Im not quite sure if your requests are open at the moment, but I was wondering if you could possibly write a Poly! Marauders x reader? Maybe where the reader talks a lot and is ignored by parents and friends of is yelled at often for small nervous habits they do unconsciously? You don't have to ofc!
Love ur work!!

to anon: ofc! hope i did this one right:) i kind of did it more hurt/comfort cause you guys know i love my comfort trope<3 also if you didn't want it like this, don't hesitate to send me another req if this was too over the top with the hurt, or you didn't like the tropes:)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"(y/n!)" you snapped out of your daydream, blinking your eyes lazily as your focus adjusted to your surroundings. "ignoring us is not okay, (y/n). you need to tell us why you are behind in your classes. you're not doing good enough. we need you to stop getting distracted and focus on your work." your dad scolded you.
"argus, don't you think you're being a bit too rough on her?" your mother said quietly. "i'm sure she's doing her-"
"eleanor, don't interrupt me," your dad said quietly. that shut your mother up, and she said nothing else. you felt for her in that moment, being trapped in a relationship where she couldn't say anything, couldn't voice her own opinions because they would get shut down every single time.
it scared you to think of ever being in a marriage like theirs. because of your parents, you had trust issues, and you didn't think you could let anyone into your heart because of how your parents ended up.
they were high school sweethearts, fell in love at the young age of 16. as a kid, you would look through old boxes in cupboards, filled with old pictures of your mother and father at your age. it was crazy to think that they too fell in love, just like you.
but how their love ended up petrified you. how they thought their love would never end but it did, when you were born. you'd never seen your parents happy, let alone happy together.
playing with your fingers to try and distract yourself from the conversation you were having, you thought of your own relationship with your boyfriends. it was the complete opposite of your parents. they were comforting, respectful, caring and they always loved you no matter what.
your thoughts were interrupted by your father's voice. "for god's sake, stop fidgeting like that!" he yelled, and grabbed your wrists tightly, making you flinch. you could already feel the bruises forming.
"i'm sorry. i'll work harder," you murmured, eyes focused on the floor. you couldn't meet their eyes. you knew you were a disappointment to them. it just hurt too much to even look at them.
THE NEXT DAY
hogwarts was made for gifted witches and wizards. although you were relatively smart, you had to work really hard to get good grades, as opposed to some of your friends who barely studied and still managed to get exceptional grades. it infuriated you.
you had managed to convince two of your friends to help you study, as they were really good at astronomy.
at the library, you were excitedly telling your friends about a new book you were reading. you continued, a huge smile on your face, saying, "and so then, the she finally gets together with him, and it's just so dreamy and i-"
"oh my god, (y/n)! are you done?" your friend snapped at you. she looked extremely annoyed at you, and once you glanced at the clock you saw that you'd only been speaking for a few minutes. you didn't get why she had to be so annoyed with you. you didn't do anything wrong, did you?
your smile dissolved, and you quietly said, "yeah."
your friend then proceeded to tell you guys about her new relationship with cedric, who you didn't care about in the least. "i'm just gonna go up to the dormitories," you said quietly, excusing yourself. your friends didn't even notice your departure.
what kind of friends were they? they hurt your feelings, always making you feel worthless, just like your parents. your boyfriends had told you they were both wastes of time but you had ignored them.
'where are they, anyways?' you thought to yourself as you looked around for your boyfriends. you needed them right now. tears pooled behind your lash line as you thought about what had happened.
you felt almost guilty for wanting to see your boyfriends. you didn't want them to pity you, and so you went up to your dormitory, which was completely empty at this early hour. falling face flat onto your bed, you finally let your tears fall.
a few minutes later, you heard a knock at the door, then a soft, "baby? are you in there?" it sounded like james, and you sobbed quietly at his voice, at the comfort it brought you even without seeing him.
"c'mon, let us in," remus said through the door.
"please?" sirius chimed in. "if you don't, we'll feed you to the rats."
"pads!" james whisper-screamed. "why would you say that?"
you smiled. they could easily cheer you up, even just their voices.
you grabbed your wand off the bedside and undid the lock on the door. your boyfriends came bursting in, not expecting the sudden movement, and they caught sight of you on your bed.
"oh, sweetheart," rem said softly.
making his way over to you, he pulled you into his lap and your legs encircled his waist. you let your head fall into his chest and his hand came up to smooth your hair. "shhh," he cooed into your ear. "it's okay."
jamie was already on the other side of you, thumb stroking your palm, already warming you up. you winced slightly as his thumb pressed on your bruise from yesterday.
siri sat on the bed opposite you, and his eyes darkened protectively when he saw the bruises lining your wrists. "pup, what's this?"
for a second you were confused, then you realised what he was talking about. your eyes grew wide as you said, "it's nothing, siri, I promise." you knew about his past, you didn't want to bring it up and have him do something he would regret.
"no, sweetheart," sirius put a finger under your chin, tilting your head so your eyes could meet his. "who did this to you?"
your eyes filled with tears and the anger on his face softened, but he was still inquisitive. "dad," you mumbled under your breath. "but it wasn't his fault, i was being a brat, and-" your tears came back full force, and you whispered, "and i'm not good enough for them." you laughed wetly, then continued. "my friends ignore me. they probably think I'm stupid and useless. i don't deserve to be here. it's all my fault for being friends with them. it's my fault for not working hard enough for my parents."
the boys exchanged a look over your head. their princess, believing she wasn't good enough? well, they couldn't have that.
sirius lifted his hand from your chin to cup your cheek. you leaned against the warmth radiating from his palm, tears still silently flowing down your face. "it's not your fault," he murmured. "it's never your fault. please remember that, baby."
"you deserve everything and more," james said softly.
remus hugged you tightly against his chest. "don't let anyone ever tell you different, princess."
you cried into remus's sweater, letting out everything you'd felt the past few days. they let you cry, knowing it'd be useless to try and get you to stop. you needed a good cry.
"i'm so-"
"don't you dare apologise." sirius's eyes grew serious. "otherwise we're truly feeding you to the rats."
you giggled, hand coming up to wipe your tears but james did it for you himself. they really treated you like their princess.
"i love you guys," you mumbled, sniffling quietly.
their faces softened. "love you too, bug."

Falling in Style
Pairings: Sirius x disabled!reader centric but part of my poly!marauders x disabled!reader series Summary: Sirius finds you laughing after you fall out of your wheelchair. Warnings: Disability Series Masterlist
The details of the fall are hazy. One moment, you're reaching for the book that's slipped from your lap, and the next, your world is tipping sideways. Your wheelchair lurches, just enough to unseat you, and you topple forward, gravity pulling you down. It's not a hard landing—more of an awkward roll onto the carpet—and you manage to catch yourself on your hands before your face hits the floor.
"Oof," you grunt, more from surprise than pain. Your heart pounds in your chest, a rush of adrenaline making everything seem sharper, more intense.
And then, inexplicably, you start to laugh.
It bubbles up from deep within you, catching you off guard. You're still sprawled on the floor, limbs akimbo, with the overturned wheelchair behind you—a ridiculous sight if there ever was one. But instead of feeling embarrassed or upset, you feel...amused.
You hear the door creak open, and before you can even attempt to hoist yourself up, Sirius is there.
"Babe?" His voice is laced with worry as he takes in the scene before him—your body crumpled on the floor, the book half-open beside you, and the wheelchair just out of reach. You know he's taking in every detail, his eyes wide and alarmed.
But then you start to laugh again, and the tension in his features eases—though not entirely. He kneels by your side, fingers gently brushing a loose lock of hair from your forehead.
"Are you alright down there, love?" he asks, fighting off a grin that threatens to mirror your own infectious laughter.
You nod, still giggling, your chest shaking with each breath you take. "I... I fell," you manage to gasp out between fits of laughter. It's a statement of the obvious, but somehow saying it aloud only makes it funnier.
Sirius snorts, the corners of his mouth twitching upward as he tries—and fails—to maintain his composure. "I can see that," he says, shaking his head while his black hair falls into his eyes. "You're a disaster."
"I know." You swipe at your damp cheeks, the remnants of your tears still glistening there. Sirius hoists the wheelchair upright, its wheels spinning lazily before settling down. "I just— I leaned too far and then— wham!" Your hand slaps the floor for emphasis, and you dissolve into laughter once more.
His lips finally give way to a small smile, but it's fleeting, replaced by the furrow of his brow as he extends a hand towards you. He pauses, fingers hovering in mid-air, his gaze searching your face for signs of pain or discomfort. It's a habit they've all picked up over the past few weeks— this unspoken question before they help you move.
"Alright there?" His voice is low, barely above a whisper.
You nod, pushing yourself up onto your elbows. "Yeah, I'm alright. Just—" A fresh peal of laughter escapes you, and you press a hand to your forehead, feeling the warmth of embarrassment creep up your neck. "Just get me off the floor before someone else walks in on this."
"Don't want to ruin that reputation as the toughest witch in Gryffindor, do we?" Sirius teases, but there's a warmth in his voice that belies the jest. He slides an arm around your waist, lifting you with ease. You know he's strong—those Quidditch muscles aren't just for show—but it's the gentleness in his actions that always takes you by surprise. Not because you're fragile, but because to him, you matter.
Once you're settled back into your wheelchair, Sirius crouches down to check on your legs, ensuring they're positioned correctly and that you haven't hurt yourself. "All good, babe?" he asks, looking up at you with that familiar smirk playing on his lips.
Your smile fades slightly, replaced by a more serious expression. You nod, feeling the fabric of your chair against your back, grounding you. "Yeah, all good. Just... a bit clumsy today, I guess."
Sirius chuckles, and there's a warmth in his eyes that belies the humour in his voice. "Good thing I'm here then, isn't it? Your knight in shining leather." His fingers trace an absent pattern against the armrest of your chair, the touch light but solidly there.
There's a part of you that wants to roll your eyes at his dramatics, but you can't help the grin that tugs at the corners of your mouth. "Oh, absolutely. I'm the luckiest girl in the world."
Sirius straightens with an air of satisfaction, his hand warm on your shoulder as he leans down and plants a swift kiss atop your head. "That's right, you are. But really, Y/N, you gave me a scare there for a moment."
His voice holds a note of genuine concern that makes your heart twinge. You know they worry, despite the playful banter.
"I'm fine, Sirius. Really," you reassure him, squeezing his hand where it still rests on your shoulder. "Just one of those days."
He nods, but his grip doesn't loosen, as though he could somehow absorb your pain through mere touch. "I understand. But next time, maybe just summon the book?"
Your laughter rings out, a welcome relief to the tension that had gathered in the room. "I didn't exactly plan on falling, love. But noted."
A grin tugs at the corner of his mouth, and he leans down to press a swift kiss to your forehead. "For what it's worth, your landing was impressive. Eight out of ten."
Laughing again, you shake your head. "You're ridiculous."
"And yet, you love me for it," he smirks, allowing his usual charm to shine through.
And of course, you do.

Well firstly hello, i really like your writing it's amazing i have a request so it goes like this
Any Marauders or poly (whatever you are comfortable with) x ftm reader idk maybe coming out to them the fluff kinda hurt/comfort i really wanna see how tou would write them anything is okay with me thanks
Poly Marauders Fic: Our Tweety
➼ First thank you! I wasn't sure which marauders you wanted included, so I went with all four of them! Tbh now I feel like I need to make headcanons for each of the marauders, so if you guys want that lmk! I also went more of a fluff route than hurt/comfort, I hope that's okay!
➼ All the marauders are dating each other already but not the reader
➼ Just as a general aside: there is no one right way to dress, act, or feel as a trans person. In this fic the reader is described as a bit more as a 'stereotypical' trans person, just to try and make it easier to relate to. By no means do you need to have short hair, dress masculine, dislike certain parts of your body, etc., to be trans. All that matters is how you personally identify, how you feel in your own skin.
➼ No beta we die like Regulus
➼ Warnings: None! This turned out a lot longer than I first anticipated though-
Fanart is not mine! Credit goes to @upthehillart, go show her some love!
It was Saturday, a day that should have been restful. Instead James was banging pots and pans he got from Merlin-knows-where bright and early in the boy's dormitory. "Up and at-em! Quidditch practice! Wake up!" he rang out, a chorus of groans answering back as well as a pillow being chucked in his general direction. It landed on the floor in front of James, not doing any damage. Unfortunately. "Are you trying to wake the dead?" Remus groaned, pulling the covers up over his and Sirius' head. They had slept together last night while Peter had crawled into James' bed. Really what they needed to do was push their beds all together so that they wouldn't be crammed between two beds. Plus Peter squirmed a lot in his sleep so he'd stop falling off the bed in the middle of the night. Even if it was funny when that happened.
You were spared from the chaos in the boy's dormitory, the girl's dormitory was still nice and quiet. Everyone still asleep bar from you. Recently you had been reflecting a myriad of things. One being the fact that you liked four different guys at once. Four guys that were all dating each other. Well, four people technically, Sirius was genderfluid, though last time you asked he was currently going by he/they. Which was another thing. Sirius came out a few months ago and since then you had been thinking. He described it as never feeling always like a guy, sometimes he felt more feminine. Othertimes he felt, as he described it, 'in between', or that he didn't care, or neither. You didn't really think that was possible before.
Of course everyone in Gryffindor Tower was supportive. Or everyone for the most part, including you. Lily had made Sirius little bracelets with pronouns he could wear if he wanted, his boyfriends were of course happy that Sirius was comfortable enough to reveal that to them. All of that helped you come to the realization that you never really felt like a girl. You didn't like how your hair looked when it got super long, you wore baggier clothes to try and hide your chest, swapped out the usual uniform skirt for trousers, and showers? Those were hard. You hated looking down at your body most of the time and tried to get out of there as soon as possible. Sure every now and then you may have wanted to wear a dress or skirt, or something considered 'girly', but that didn't mean that you felt like a girl when wearing those things.
It was scary and confusing, trying to figure it out. Perhaps if you had talked it out with someone the realization would've came sooner or easier. Either way you ended up at the same conclusion. You were a guy, a man, a wizard. Not a girl, a woman, or a witch. It was almost freeing to figure that out. Or at least it would be if fear wasn't consuming the forefront of your mind.
That's why you were up so early while your classmates slept around you. You were trying to figure out what to do. You wanted to tell people, maybe even see if you could get switched to the boy's dormitory. But that fear was winning out. Despite how kind everyone was to Sirius when they came out, what if that same grace wasn't extended to you? What would people in other houses think? Professors? Would anyone even start calling you a guy? Would they use the new name you had decided on trying out? There were so many unknows, and the unknown was frightening.
Eventually you had spent enough time stewing in the dorms and moved down to the common room for a change of scenery and a nice fire. When you plopped down on the red velvet couch that's when the stampede from the boy's dorms came down. The first wave was excited second years in their quidditch jerseys, then the tired older quidditch players, then the marauders. James was as energetic as ever, Sirius not too terribly far behind him, Remus half asleep, and Peter practically sleepwalking. Remus was currently using his crutches, walking over and sitting down on the couch next to you. Peter followed suit and sat on the other side of you.
"One of James' early morning practices?" you asked already knowing the answer. Peter groaned in response, slumping against the pillows. Just like that he was back asleep. "Yes. I think he snuck into the kitchens to get our wake up call this morning" Remus mumbled, wiping the sleep out of his eyes. James just looked so proud of himself. He leaned over the couch and pressed a kiss to the top of Remus and Peter's heads before grabbing Sirius' hand. "We're off! Be back in a few hours. Keep Tweety company, will you?"
That damn nickname. You both loved and hated it. James nicknamed you 'Tweety Bird' after you discovered your patronus. A small yellow bird, a Hooded Warbler. "We will Prongs. Or at least I will. Petey is down for the count" Remus chuckled slightly, setting his crutches aside. With the crowd gone you had Remus' full attention. "You're up early. The pots and pans reach the girl's dormitory?" he asked, adjusting a few pillows on the couch to try and get comfortable. "No, just..thinking" real specific.
"About what?" was of course the next thing the werewolf asked. You were quiet for a while, Peter's soft snores the only thing filling the air. Remus patiently waited for an answer, a bit of concern in his eyes at the silence. After a moment he had to ask a follow up question. "Everything alright? Something bothering you? I'll listen if you want to talk. The other's don't need to know."
That broke down what resolve you had left. You didn't realize this but you had been getting worked up in that short amount of time, you face feeling a bit hot and hands shaking. "I'm a guy. I want to go by Y/N." you blurted out. There, it was out in the world now. No taking it back. You were staring down at your feet, trying to expect the worst. Remus let out a small hum then held his hand out. "Well Y/N, I'm Remus, pleased to make your acquaintance" he smiled. That earned a chuckle out of you ask you shook his hand, feeling a little better already. "You're..you're okay with it?"
He almost looked confused. "Well why wouldn't I be? You're my friend, Tweety. No matter your gender, orientation, what have you. And when you want to tell the others they'll have the exact same sentiments" he promised. Though that did mean that he needed to change a few things around for a surprise the four of them had planned. "Am I the first person you've told?" to which you responded with a nod. "Yeah, you're the first. And Peter if he can hear us in his little mini coma. I want to tell them after practice, then just..bring it up to everyone else when it comes up, I guess" it's not like you wanted to call a house-wide meeting about this.
"That makes sense. Sirius and James will likely be a while. James created a new training routine he's trying out. Ever since Slytherin won the cup last year he hasn't eased up. I think if we lose again his head might explode" it was an outrage in the tower after Slytherin won. James and Sirius lead that outrage. Remus as the announcer swore up a storm over the microphone. House points were certainly deducted that day. "All I'm hearing is that the newbies on the team are going to be regretting joining the team" you chuckled. There was a reason why you didn't join the team, and it was James' rigorous training schedule.
For the next two hours you and Remus hung out on the couch, Peter waking up around halfway through. When you first told him the big news he simply blinked at you a few times and went "Huh?" He didn't mean anything by it, poor man had just woken up from a deep sleep. Once he was more awake and could process what you said he was of course happy for you, pulling both you and Remus in for a hug to celebrate. Around breakfast time, the quidditch team came up. As you expected all the first-year players looked miserable. Really everyone did as they marched back up the stairs to lay down. Even Sirius looked bushed. James was the only one still smiling and bouncing with energy. How he did it, no one really knew.
"Moony! Moony our boyfriend killed me! I think I need some mouth to mouth to be saved" He exclaimed, dramatically draping over both the couch and Remus. The wizard rolled his eyes and lightly nudged Sirius. "I think you'll be fine. You sign up for this torture year after year." "What can I say? I'm a masochist" he said with a cheeky grin. James sat down between you and Peter, brushing some hair out of his eyes. "My training isn't that bad! Everyone else is just being dramatic. If you think that's bad just wait til our practice after dinner" that was followed by a groan and loud complaining from all. "Speaking of dramatics, can you two spare them for a moment so I can tell you something?"
For once both Sirius and James were quiet, their attention fully on you. Remus gave you a small nod of encouragement, gesturing for you to take a deep breath. You did so and looked between Sirius and James. "I'm trans. I want to start going by Y/N, he/him." it was a lot easier to say now that it was the third time and yu had already gotten two amazing reactions. Sirius and James didn't dissapoint. Both were smiling brightly and suddenly you were being tackled in a hug by both of them, Peter throwing himself on top of the dog pile and dragging Remus along with him.
"Mate that's bloody amazing!" James chuckled out happily "One of us! One of us!" Sirius playfully chanted, poking your arm. "Does that mean I can get first dibs on all your old skirts and dresses?"
That was all a week ago. Sirius had helped you pick out new clothes on a trip to Hogsmeade while James insisted on picking up the tab. Peter had accompanied you to each of your classes to help you explaim to your professors about your name and pronoun change. Meanwhile Remus had been hard at work in the headmaster's office to get a few things changed around.
Today was the day of that big change. One you had no idea of. James simply told you to meet him in the common room. Then a blindfold was covering your eyes. "James if you lead me to the window and push-" "I would never! How dare you even suggest such a thing!" he gasped in mock offense. "No no! We just have a big surprise planned and you don't get a sneak peak. Stairs, stairs" he warned, helping you up a rather large flight of stairs. But what stairs? You two were just in the common room, the only two staircases were to the dormitories. Even then the girl's staircase was enchanted so that no boys could walk up them. So then-
Suddenly the blindfold was off before you could even complete that thought. You were now in the boy's dormitory, all of your things on the bed in front of you. Bedding, clothes, posters, school supplies, everything. All of the marauders were standing around with big smiles on their faces, though Peter seemed a bit nervous, his cheeks a light pink color. "I talked with Dumbledore and arranged for you to be moved to the boy's dormitory. We had Lily get your things. Though we can move it all back, if you don't want-" "I love it!" You interrupted, rushing to hug all four of them. "Thank you guys, seriously. I was nervous about asking myself"
"Of course Tweety. Though there is something else" Sirius said as he pulled away from the embrace. James looked excited, Peter was now clinging onto Remus. The energy had seemed to shift a bit, in what way you couldn't tell. "Well what else is there? You guys giving e money or something?" you teased with a small smile. That made Sirius chuckle, shaking his head. "No, no. We were all actually wondering..if you wanted to join the polycule?" he asked, giving you a hopeful look. "We all like you, we have for a while but didn't really know how to ask you" James added on. "We were afraid we'd scare you off, y'know, four people fancying you. I know it's a lot" Remus spoke up.
How two amazing things happened in one day, you have no clue. The four people you had felt guilty about liking all liked you back. Merlin if this was a dream you didn't want to wake up. For a moment you forgot to even respond, a bit of panic settling in on their faces. "Oh! Ah yes! Yes sorry, sorry I forgot to even say it out loud." you laughed, smiling from ear to ear. James was the first to tackle you into a hug onto his bed. Well, more accurately, his, Remus', and Peter's beds. They had gone through with their plan of pushing the beds together and just hadn't done Sirius' yet. The other three were quick to follow, all smiling and forming a pile on the beds.
"Bloody hell I thought you were going to say know at first-" Peter chuckled out, resting his head on Sirius' chest right next to Remus. "No! No. I've liked you all for a while, I just..I just didn't think you felt the same way." "Well we do, so clear your schedule Tweety. We'll get all your stuff put away today..after a nap." James declared, struggling to pull enough blankets over everyone. And how could you say no to that? You settled into your place in the cuddle pile, closing your eyes and wrapping your arms around James. James did the same for you, reaching one arm a bit further to also be touching Sirius. Sirius had Remus basically laying on top of him and Peter curled up in his side. That's how you all settled in for a rather long nap, and you hadn't been this happy in years.

prompt - meeting new people and letting them figure out that there is more than one partner can be a lot of fun
wc ; 1k
——————
As a prefect, it was your job to help the new girl in your house adjust to her new school. From what you had been told, Faye had only just found out she was a witch, so she was starting hogwarts a few years late.
But she was sweet so you didn’t really mind her sticking to your side for a while. You had all the same classes anyway and she had taken over the previously empty bed in your dorm.
Because she had started half way through fifth year, she asked for help on assignments a lot. But you didn’t mind that either. It helped you solidify the information in your head anyway. You and faye had been sat on your bed focused for the last half an hour, and you planned to go on until lunch.
until the door to your dorm burst open revealing sirius looking out of breath. His eyes went from you to the girl sat at the other end of your bed before he lifted his hand in a mock salute.
“ morning, ladies “ he said before strolling over to your bed and falling back against the pillows beside you.
“ why’re you out of breath?” you questioned, putting your textbook to the side momentarily.
“ may or may not have dropped ink all over evans.” as much as you wanted to act annoyed, a smile spread across your face.
“ she’s gonna kill you “
“ that’s why i came up here for protection, love “ he beamed up at you and it was impossible not to smile back. “ seems i’m interrupting though.” his eyes left yours and looked over to the girl he was yet to meet
Up until that moment you had forgotten that faye was perched at the foot of your bed with a book infront of her, awaiting your help with her work.
“ just studying, not much to interrupt. This is faye. Faye, this is sirius. “
“ nice to meet you “ faye spoke up for the first time since sirius burst into your dorm.
“ nice to meet you too. “ he said before sitting up, clearly preparing to leave. “ i’ll leave you two to study, i’m going to find prongs “ he pressed a short kiss onto your lips before leaving you and faye to your books.
The two of you studied until lunch, and went down to the great hall to eat. Spotting remus, lily and dorcas at the gryffindor table, you lead faye over and sat down beside remus while she sat by lily.
“ hi there. Haven’t seen you all day, where’ve you been ?” you slid slightly closer to him on the bench and you felt his hand drop to rest on your thigh under the table.
“ been in my dorm. We’ve been studying all morning.” you answered before turning your attention back to the girl opposite you who had fallen into conversation with lily. “ rem, this is faye. She’s taken the empty bed in our dorm. “ because you shared a dorm with lily too, they had already met. Everyone who was already in your dorm seemed to get along really well with faye.
You could see the slight confusion in faye’s eyes as she spotted how close you were sat to remus. You knew at some point you would have to mention that you had multiple boyfriends, but in that moment, you decided to let her pair it together herself. She hadnt even met james yet.
That wouldnt last long as most people's attention was drawn to the doors of the hall when the quidditch team came bursting in. your eyes instantly locked on your other two lovers who were headed straight for you and remus with smiles on their faces.
You could practically see the sweat on both of them as they approached you, and you knew they were going to hug you even if you screamed. So you decided to just embrace it when james came up behind you and wrapped his arms around your middle while sirius did the same to remus.
This had happened a lot. Every time the two returned from quidditch practice, they would find you and remus, and no matter where, they would wrap their sweaty bodies around both of you despite your pleas for them to shower first.
After a while you had just gotten used to it. You tilted your head up and james pressed a short kiss onto your lips before sitting down beside you.
“ how was practice ? “ you heard dorcas ask from across the table where marlene was now sat beside her.
“ exhausting,” james was the one to speak up beside you “ but we don’t have practice tomorrow. “ his attention was turned to you and remus before he spoke again. “ me and pads were thinking we head up to hogsmeade tomorrow morning before it gets busy “
You nodded softly, “ yeah, that sounds nice. “ it was always nicer to go to hogsmeade when it was a little more empty, especially when the four of you were trying to get through the streets without getting separated.
Everyone around you sort of fell into conversation as they ate lunch, and across the table you caught faye’s eye. You could recognise that look of understanding behind her eyes. But she lifted her hand and motioned subtly towards the four of you sat bunched together in a row, and you nodded at her wordless question. She nodded again, a soft smile falling on her lips before she was pulled into the girls conversation on the opposite side of the table as you and your boys.
It wasnt something that a lot of people could understand, but you made a point to only surround yourself with people who accepted it. And right now, you were surrounded by people who accepted your relationship and you dont think you could get much happier.
Well, the sweat now covering your body as well as james’ wasnt great, but even then the smile on your face was permanent, and you were definitely looking forward to collapsing in their dorm tonight as the spare bed two of them usually slept on, had been taken over by your newest friend.

Hi!! Ok this is my first time doing an actual request so…I hope I do this right 😭.
Poly!marauders x transfer student reader: Reader comes from the US, where quodpot is the more popular wizarding sport (like quidditch is rugby and quodpot is football). Reader has always LOVED quidditch and is excited Hogwarts actually has a team. Maybe reader trying out for the team? Seeker would be cool bc the reader would be able to practice that by themself. Reader going to the pitch early every morning to practice leading up to tryouts, Sirius and James watching from the stands bc that’s normally THEIR time to practice. Remus sitting with a hot tea and bundled up…UGH I LOVE!
this was such a cute idea! this is actually the second fic I've ever written that involved 0 dialogue and I only realized that about either fic once I finished this one, so hopefully it's good! thanks for your request, love, I hope I did it justice!
poly!marauders x transfer student!reader who is obsessed with quidditch [900 words]
CW: .... I don't think any?? read is Gryffindor, written for a fem!reader (term that's used is witch) but could be read as gender neutral as they/them/their are used
If someone were to ask Remus why he could suddenly be spotted haunting the castle grounds before the sun rose most mornings now-a-days, he would quickly blame it on his sodding no good energetic and horribly devious boyfriends (who he loved very much).
But the real answer was a far more selfish one.
You see, Remus (and Sirius and James) had developed a rather peculiar crush on a rather peculiar witch in their final year of Hogwarts.
The rumour had been that a new student transferring from Ilvermory was going to be attending Hogwarts for their seventh year, and with Hogwarts (and the wizarding community in general) being as small as it was, it had created quite the buzz.
The rumours were proven true when a witch far older than the many first years lined up for their turn at the sorting ceremony took their place below the hat only for it to shout GRYFFINDOR before their robes were decorated in red and gold.
You seemed utterly enchanted by it all; by the floating candles, by the stone walls, and by the feast itself.
Watching you skip throughout the castle in the weeks following the Welcome Feast was nothing short of inspiring; it was as if watching a muggleborn first year see the castle and all of its secrets for the first time again.
You seemed to be very skilled at finding the magic in, well, magic.
Remus wondered then when magic stopped feeling so magical to the rest of the seventh year class; even children who were raised by magical parents were nothing short of ecstatic to begin honing their own skills at Hogwarts.
When did that stop feeling so exciting? When did throwing up silencing charms and summoning objects towards yourself become second nature instead of an exciting and exceptional learned skill? When did transfiguring buttons into butterflies become an arduous lesson instead of a wondrous adventure?
And that's not to say that you hadn’t seen or experienced magic before; on the contrary, you were a very talented witch. But you seemed to be awestruck by every single thing that you set your eyes on.
The fact that you were living in a castle had been particularly exciting for you, from what Remus had overheard, as was the game of quidditch.
The popular and more commonly played sport in the magical United States was that of quodpot, and what little Remus actually understood about quidditch, he understood even less of quodpot, which is to say that he understood absolutely none of it. But even Remus had to admit there was something mesmerising about watching the way your tongue stuck out a little bit through your teeth as you drew out different drills and formations in your dedicated quidditch journal.
Though the quidditch season hadn’t started yet, every time there was a pickup game or a one-on-one, or even a few players feeling the familiar itch of flying through the air at record speeds and dodging other players and flying balls, one could be certain that you would be standing in the bleachers - often even hanging over the edge of the railing (in a way that made Remus very nervous, thank you very much) - with a wide smile on your face as you took it all in.
And if Remus was really lucky, he’d even get a chance to watch as you balanced on the balls of your feet as if your body was just itching to join in on the fun.
And if Sirius and James both took the piss for Remus finally enjoying ‘quidditch’ enough to put his sodding book down every once in a while, well, that was neither here nor there.
So, the second that madame Hooch announced that tryouts for house teams would be starting in a few short weeks; you were hardly ever spotted around the common room anymore.
Any time there was a free moment, one could bet you’d be down at the pitch - or even elsewhere on the grounds - with a broom underneath you and your eyes peeled for the wiley little snitch. And anytime you were found at the pitch? Well, one could bet James and Sirius would be too.
….
… As was Remus.
James was all too happy to finally have (enthusiastic and consensual) company in the mornings to comment on the fact that it had been nothing short of painstaking torture to extricate Sirius from his bed for quidditch practices before you had transferred to Hogwarts, or to comment on the fact that it had been nothing short of painstaking torture to extricate Remus from his bed on any given day before you had transferred to Hogwarts.
Because it appeared that they were all in agreement that, even if it had to be at six in the bloody morning, watching you experience the unbridled joy that Hogwarts and quidditch and magic could give you was the best place to be.
Sirius leaned casually against the railing flashing you the odd wink or holler of encouragement when you happened to look over at your admirers in the stands whilst James shouted pointers and cheered you on, basically hanging over the railing in much the same way you would when the roles were reversed.
And Remus?
Well, Remus usually had about three layers on, a hot cup of tea, and a book that laid untouched as he got to enjoy the view.

Idiots In Love
Masterlist
author note: I'm not quite sure how I feel about this one. I like it, but I'm not sure if you all will like it. Let me know lovelies.
Poly!Marauders x fem!gryffindor!reader
word count: 924
warning(s): fluff, mutual pining, communication is key, not proofread because I'm lazy
Telling your guy best friends that you’re in love with them shouldn’t be too hard, right? Just say it. I can’t. We’ve been best friends for years and now all of a sudden I want more? But it’s not like that. Not at all. I’ve been in love with them since I truly got to know them all. Is it right to be in love with all three? It doesn’t feel wrong.
“Uh oh. Something’s going on in that little head of yours. Spill.” Sirius says after kissing me on my forehead.
I focus back in on my surroundings and see that Remus, James, and Sirius have all joined me in the common room. I could tell them. I could tell them all right now. It’s perfect. We’re the only ones in here.
I look them all in the eyes and realize that I seriously lack the most important Gryffindor trait, courage.
“Just the history paper that Binns assigned us. I was kind of dozed during the lesson, so I’m not quite sure what to write.”
“What’s it supposed to be on?” James asks.
“Uhm, the Werewolf Code of Conduct of 1637.”
“So you have a werewolf best friend and decided not to ask for help on the subject?” Sirius asks me with the utmost sass in his tone.
“Well, excuse me, but last time I checked Remmy wasn’t even alive in 1637 and why would I assume he knew the history on the matter?”
“As that may be true, I actually read up on it one night when I couldn’t sleep, so I can help you. We can go to the library whenever you’re free.”
I don’t know if I can handle being alone with him with my emotions at an all-time high like this.
“Yeah, sure. Sounds great. Want to go after dinner?”
“Works for me.” He says with a smile.
My heart is beating erratically. I can’t even hear what the new topic is due to the blood rushing in my ears.
“I’m going to be up in my room if you guys need me. Marlene needs my help with something.” I say suddenly without meeting their eyes. I stand and then walk upstairs.
I didn’t full lie. Marlene does need help. Not from me though. We’re both in love with our best friends and there’s nothing we’re doing about it. She’s in love with Lily and Dorcas but refuses to tell them.
I open the door to find her dramatically laid upon her bed.
“Hey Marls”
“Hey.” She says seeming very short with me.
“Oh? What did I do this time?”
“You left me to deal with my sorrow.”
“Oh, please.” I say, letting a laugh out.
“Lily was so brilliant in class today. She does charms so easily. It’s amazing.”
“Yes, yes, we know. Lily’s the brightest witch in our year, Dorcas’ laugh in contagious, they’re both so blah blah blah” I say with humour as to not be mistaken as being bitter about her love for our roommates.
“Alright, I talk about them a lot. So what? Also, as much as I love her, she’s second best. Everyone knows it’s you who takes top spot.”
I smile at the compliment and continue about the room to calm my nerves. I hear a creek by the door and see Lily and Dorcas. My smiles drops. Not to a frown but a neutral expression.
“You’re in love with us?” Dorcus asks while not taking her eyes off of Marlene; My attention going to her as well. By the look in her eyes, I can tell that her heart dropped.
I grab my school supplies and make a swift exit out of the door.
I make it to the top of the stairs but don’t go down. I hear the dulcet tones of Remus talking to who I assume are the others.
“We have to tell her. We can’t continue to sit around ignoring how we feel.”
How they feel?
“How do you suppose we say it then Moony? Say, “Hey, we know we’ve been best friends for years, but for the majority of those years we’ve been in love with you and want to know if you’ll have us?” Sirius says with irritation and anxiousness laced in his tone.
“You know,” pause, “That actually wasn’t bad.”
“Yes.” A voice that’s between a whisper and a normal tone. I didn’t know it was my voice until all three of them looked at me. I had walked halfway down the stairs without realizing it.
“You weren’t supposed to find out like that.” Says Remus, meeting me at the bottom of the stairs.
We walk over to the couch. I sit on the chair to the left of them to see all of their faces. I look over to James who has not talked since I got down here. I find that he is already looking back at me.
“Is it true Jamie?” I ask.
I see him blush at the nickname. He nods his head yes. I move my eyes to the others. Them both looking at me with anticipation.
“Seems you lot have beaten me to the punch.” I confess, leaning back against the chair.
Their eyes brighten at the confession.
“I know we’ve been best friends for years, but for the majority of those years I’ve been in love with you and want to know if you guys will have me?” I repeat the speech from earlier.
It seems we all had the same idea because we all stand and embrace.
