winner | satoru gojo x reader
"i hate you."
three words that destroyed the very world satoru had spent building with you for the past nine months. his footing gives way beneath his feet and he can feel himself slipping, scrambling for purchase on an icy slope while your cold words bite at him like an icy, bitter wind.
his world is collapsing. it hurts to think, and it hurts to look at you, and the way you're looking at him hurts. like he's chewed gum on the bottom of your shoe, mangled and ugly.
you've always been easy on his eyes. god, it normally never hurts to look at you. the burden of his cursed gaze feels a little lighter when the world around him is brighter and sweeter and softer because of your pretty smile. suguru eats sweets to wash away the taste of cursed spirits, and you're the eye candy that relieves the migraines behind satoru's six eyes.
at least, you were.
the hot summer sun beats down against the cement of the sidewalk; the streets blur and waver with shimmers of heat and the mirages of puddles on the road. the two of you stand to the side, shirt pinched between your fingers as you fan yourself to try to alleviate the heat on your skin, wondering why you decided to go out today.
tokyo is hot during the summer. the value of yen is lower than normal, so tourist season swings about like a tsunami, flooding the streets with families and travelers who explore on the trail of their wanderlust. shibuya is crowded and there are foreign footprints all over akihabara. the cute shop awning you're standing under reminds you of a beach umbrella, but the image of hot white sand and pristine crystal waters only makes you feel dizzier with the heat.
satoru is used to the summer heat, and the complaining that comes with it. it doesn't help that lately, it's all that suguru ever talks about. he's starting to think he should've bought a popsicle for his best friend, too.
but then you speak again, and he's immediately snapped back into reality like a slap to the face; your voice drips with venom, normally so sweet but there's poison in your veins, polluting your heart.
"i can't believe you won. of all people." you complained.
satoru gets under your skin like no other.
satoru looks down at his popsicle; a baby blue, soda-flavored. everything seems to come with a soda flavor. icy sweetness melts away, dripping down the wooden stick and sliding over his fingers, blue against his skin like veins of sugar. he rubs his forehead, scowling and squinting. the heat is giving him a headache; the popsicle helped, but your angry glares make him want to hide in the freezer box you both picked your lucky desserts from.
his popsticle stick has one word etched into it; when he looks over at yours, it's just smooth, tanned wood. no marks.
'winner'. that's what it says on satoru's popsicle stick. suddenly, the syrup feels as sweet as strawberry jam in his mouth and the sour look on your face makes it all the better. an unabashed, unbridled grin spreads across his lips stained blue, shit-eating and awful and it only makes you despise your boyfriend more.
so that’s what you’re so pissed at him for. he looks like the cheshire cat with white fur and shades. suddenly, his world is right as rain again and everything is brighter when you look at him like you want to rip his guts out and cook them on the burning hot sidewalk. ah, true love.
he opens his mouth to speak, swiping his soda-stained tongue over his lips, reveling in the way your jaw clenches in irritation as your ice pop melts in your hands under the searing summer heat.
“well, guess we know who’s side the gods are on today—”
“shut up.”
satoru just grins, leaning in and pushing the hair away from your face to press a quick, syrup-flavored smooch to your forehead. the heat clings to your skin, but the little imprint of his lips on your skin leave a cool, tingling feeling that has you smiling, even though you hate that he won and you didn’t.
satoru gets under your skin like no other, and finds his way to your heart.

A SUMMER PLANT CARE GUIDING TIPS
LOOKING FOR GUIDING TIPS FOR YOUR PLANTS? I GOT YOU!
Picking the right spot
We all know plants requiring sunlight is a well-known fact. But the harsh rays of sunlight in this summer can be harmful to the plant, therefore making it wilt. The pro tip we have is: When plants placed in the south and west, it have a tendency to receive more powerful rays of sunlight. So move them further away from those directions to protect them from getting sunburnt.
The humidity matters
Plants with decorative leaves such as ferns, mosaic plants and spider plants are the ones which thrive in highly humid conditions (mostly houseplants). Therefore, it is important to mist them from time to time in long periods of heat. We can create a tiny humid microclimate for our plants to beat the heat. Just fill up a bowl with water and pebbles and place the pot on the pebbles and it should be working!
Maintain and Retain the soil moisture
This summer season heat can deplete the soil’s moisture. We can always test the moisture by simply touching the soil or even poking the soil with popsicle or any sticks. If there is a gap between the soil and the sides of the pot, then there is a lack of moisture in the soil. But don’t worry, I got u! there are ways to replenish this. Adding organic compost like fruits and vegetables that is already rotten, it doesn't only retains the moisture in the soil but also helps in providing nutrients to your greens. They also help lock in the moisture for longer periods of time.
Water sufficiently but not too much
Overwatering can be fatal for indoor plants. While it's tempting to think they need more water in the summer, there are better watering techniques to consider. Ensure water is absorbed evenly by watering your plant gradually, and a helpful tip is to do so either early in the morning or after sunset to minimize evaporation.
Pro tip: If you’re going on a summer vacation or will be gone for an extended period, don’t fret! There are longer-term hydration solutions to keep your houseplants alive while you’re away to test out.
Avoid the use of chemical fertilizers
Fertilization leads to excess growth. And this, inturn, leads to lots of leaves and stems outgrowing the root system, causing stress to the plant especially when it is a houseplants or succulent. So adding chemicals for their growth during summertime is a huge no, maybe use a natural fertilizer like rotten fruits and vegetables.
Prune and trim the plants
Don’t wait till the end of summer to prune your pretty pants! It is natural for plants and their leaves to turn yellow or begin to wilt in the heat. Although the damaged part of the plant can cause stress to the health of the plant, it is important to remove the dead foliage to keep your plant healthy. This also helps in preventing the loss of water through transpiration.
WANT TO HEAR SOME PLANT FACTS?
DYK??
Plants make up 80% of the food we eat and produce 98% of the oxygen we breathe.
Plants love music. Growing plants can be a quiet and peaceful experience but they also want to listen to your playlists. House plants love music and it encourages growth, so turn up the music! (not too loud!)
Plants reduce noise pollution. Houseplants, such as peace lilies and succulents, have been found to absorb sound! Surround workspace, house and anywhere with plants to create a quiet sanctuary
Plants ‘talk’ to each other. They do this via their roots in a very unique way, by secreting chemicals into the soil. These chemicals, called ‘root exudates’ tell every other living thing in the root zone how the plant is doing.
Did you know that plants also have such a clock? This means that they can prepare themselves for various times of the day. Plants use sugar signals to establish this circadian phase when it’s light and dark.
The smell of freshly-cut grass is actually a plant distress call.
Biologists have found that plants exhibit competitiveness amongst strangers of the same species but they are more accommodating towards their siblings. It means, plants compete with strangers by allocating more of their roots below ground. This helps them as they fight for access to water and soil nutrients.

My Invader Zim OC, Irken LAKE
Tumblr media
Not Invader, (not anymore, at least), just Lake.
She does not know how exactly she ended up on earth, but she's happy she did, because she loves it there.
She loves Earth, and Nature and Humans and she doesn't want to leave. She's just a happy little ball of sunshine and extroversion who likes walking outside and chasing birds and has no idea why the big-headed kid down the street keeps giving her weird looks. Wonder what his deal is.
I don't normally make OCs with direct connections to main characters but I like the idea of her living with Zim and GIR and posing as Zim's cousin from out-of-town.
Since she crash-landed on Earth and all her stuff got destroyed she lives with Zim because his home is the only Irken base on the planet. She does not know that he's technically an exile and not an actual Invader. Zim only puts up with her bullshit because she's slightly taller than him.
While her Human Disguise is more technically competent than Zim's, her fashion sense leaves much to be desired, so she still sticks out like a sore thumb. Not that anyone notices (except Dib of course). She does not need glasses and she does not care that they fuck-up her vision. She just thinks they're cool, like her colored hair, and the legwarmers, and the giant backpack straps that she doesn't need because her Pak is literally fused to her skin. The chipped tooth is not part of her disguise, she actually broke it when she crash-landed.
She also covers her Pak in stickers like a Laptop or Water Bottle.
Zim treats her like an annoying little sister and doesn't get what she sees in this dirtball of a planet, Dib generally feels the same way, GIR is a kindred spirit, and Gaz does not care. Mrs Bitters just pities her because nothing she does can crush her spirits like the rest of the class.
Lake is not immune to polluted Earth water, as she has not discovered the miracle of paste baths, but she goes outside in the rain anyways because of her general fascination with water in general, only to immediately run back inside and question why she does this to herself on a regular basis. Zim thinks this is extremely funny and continues to withold his secret to surviving earth water from her.
She also eats strange things sometimes, like pencil toppers and popsicle sticks.
Lake's theme song is "Anthropology (Lyra's Song)" by Awkward Marina
I fully intend to make some short comics about her.

The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Right Sunscreen
Tumblr media
Summer days are synonymous with pool floaties, popsicles, and a generous application of sunscreen. As you spend more time outside, you will want to protect your skin from the sun's UV rays. The American Academy of Dermatology (ADA) recommends that your sunscreen meet three criteria:
SPF 50 or higher.
Broad spectrum.
Water-resistant for 40–80 minutes.
In this ultimate guide, we'll navigate through the complexities of sunscreen, helping you make informed choices to protect your skin effectively.
Understand UV Rays:
Before getting into sunscreen choices, it's important to understand the two main forms of UV radiation: UVA and UVB. UVA photons lead to accelerated aging, but UVB rays cause sunburn. Look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against both types.
SPF Matters:
Sun Protection Factor (SPF) refers to a sunscreen's ability to block UVB radiation. The higher the SPF, the better the protection. Dermatologists recommend using a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 on a regular basis, but SPF 50 or greater is preferred for extended sun exposure.
Water Resistance:
If you plan on swimming or sweating, use a water-resistant sunscreen. Remember that no sunscreen is completely waterproof, so reapply after swimming or severe sweating.
Consider your skin type.
Different skin types have different sunscreen requirements. People with oily skin may prefer a gel-based or oil-free sunscreen, whilst those with dry skin may benefit from a hydrating sunscreen. To reduce the risk of irritation, choose items labeled "hypoallergenic" or "fragrance-free".
Select Your Sunscreen Type:
Sunscreen comes in a variety of forms, including lotions, creams, gels, and sprays. Lotions and creams are best for daily usage, whereas gels are great for oily skin. Sprays are convenient, but they should be used liberally to achieve proper coverage.
Check the ingredients:
Choose sunscreens containing active ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide for physical protection, and avobenzone, octocrylene, or octinoxate for chemical protection. Physical sunscreens sit on the skin's surface, reflecting UV rays, whereas chemical sunscreens absorb and convert UV photons to heat. Some people may have allergies to particular components, so always read the label.
Application Tips:
To achieve adequate protection, use sunscreen liberally and evenly over all exposed skin. Don't neglect frequently overlooked places such as your ears, neck, and the back of your hands. Reapply every two hours, or more often if swimming or sweating.
ARM Pearl Day Cream Ultra Light Lotion
Daily exposure to pollution and dirt can harm your skin, leading to dryness, dullness, and occasional breakouts. Our ARM Pearl Sunscreen Ultra SPF50 for all skin type is specially formulated to combat these issues. We have boilers at our water treatment facilities already and we have boilers on and all our bottling facilities and we bought a water for all over but you guys do it on the perimeter for half of or more it's usually about 75% of the bottle of water comes from you guys and we are installing boilers on tons of places tonight huge construction crews are coming out and lots of it has four security some of you guys are providing to get Intel for most of yourself and that's good we understand that we have to have protection for ourselves and it's a small Force but we're powerful it will zoom out of there and you'll have to finish the work if anything happens. Sewer treatment facilities require adjustment and we hate to say it but it's a boiler and it stinks but we're just polluting more if we don't and we have to add those now. This is a powerful force that's coming out of everywhere to attract these idiot clothes I'm going to find out where they are what they have left and Tommy F ship is turning off course that's what I'm told and I do see it moving a little it's still there and it's heading northwards and they are going to start hitting it and you see bja prepping and he's asking questions and say no and it's firing cow.... It's got a lot of r&d going on with our son and it all sounds ridiculous that someone works inspiring it now and some really stupid looking ones and they're going up the air coming down and they're hitting and they're hitting good they are actually doing damage right away the idea works and it's actually making the shield hit the ship itself.... Ironically these armaments of pieces have water in them a lot of water and ironic and our son is like your poisoning me too you don't have to and you shouldn't and now you see what happens you don't get it yet he said the point of you said you don't get it you're facing me yeah and your clothes don't want you to do it and you're not going to kidnap me because you're lighting it up they're not very happy about it they say you should be trying to kidnap him and you're stupid and they're mad at you and they should be mad you're a failure you get the s*** to yourself
We have announcements but it's getting late so we have to announce a few there's a lot of problems here developing from this time of person and we have to head them off just a lot more than the water and this bugs and there's tons of work to do and these warlocks I want to do anything here and we need to evict them all of them they need to leave right now there's probably 10% in the populace and keep increasing it but there was a lot a lot of them left for real others are leaving because of it just have to keep it going and out of those 10% 4% are heading to the cities right now and they will be picked up probably by 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 or so they will be going back for more that's leaving only 6% and the last 6% are going to rush out of there faster and it's going to be dangerous and we're manning up now. I put the call out to ours to sign on and tons are we have a new law and we have a new mission and tons of people are doing it and very quickly.
That sunseted earlier they might be contaminating the water else or two and we tested and we found some and we see where and it's in the river and they're putting people in it and it's up near Atlanta Georgia and that's what Garth goes there it might be his people and her son says that's why it's working he's the weakness, ken bows to heaven and says that's probably it but it hurts people other people more that's why they probably use them. People are going over there now to stop the clothes
There's probably three to four percent of the world getting up right now to go to this apartment areas early. The ships won't be there until 4:00 but by the time they get ready and they're driving there the cities will be empty and they mean to leave. They're in the way and BJ is sending more shifts to get them before they freeze to death like popsicles it's not laughing these troops and Trump is too. BG is going to help Trump with the boilers he's going over there now and he does know how to do it and he knows how to do glasses. BjA means that. He's reminding the warlock to protect their women it was probably most of them drove them out they're all laughing cuz it's true we all have glasses. They say they look smart so you look sexy.

“Best out of waste”: Reusing Thoughts for School Projects
Introduction
Our environment is getting contaminated and polluted day by day, which is of grave concern as we are using our natural resources indiscriminately and fail to manage the waste. It is crucial to preserve and protect our environment. It is good to teach children the importance of protecting the environment by including various activities. One such activity that NPS Sarjapur conducts for its students is creating best out of waste. Emphasising the importance of recycling and reusing waste is also encouraged to create an awareness about reducing waste.
We are living in a world where things are discarded without a second thought, only to be replaced with new things and accumulate in excess. With the environmental crisis the world is facing, it is time to make an effort to change this by encouraging our children on simple steps to protect nature with methods like recycling and reusing.
What are recycling and reusing?
Recycling involves converting waste materials into usable products, decreasing the need for fresh raw materials, and lowering energy and air pollution consumption. This lessens the amount of waste dumped in landfills, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, and preserves natural resources. A variety of items, including paper, plastic, metal, glass, and electronics, can be recycled.
Reusing is the process of using things multiple times before discarding them. This reduces the impact of production and disposal on the environment, cuts down on waste, and conserves resources. Reusing can take many different forms, such as reusing products for another purpose, using cloth shopping bags, or refilling water bottles. Carbon footprint can be lessened and a more sustainable future can be envisioned by opting to reuse things rather than purchase new ones.
Promoting the concept of reduce, reuse, and recycle at early childhood can help in building a sustainable and greener world.  NPS, the best CBSE school in Bangalore East, encourages students to exhibit their creativity by creating the best out of waste to help students understand the importance of protecting the environment.
Best out of waste is one of the productive ways of converting waste. At NPS Sarjapur, we discuss the importance of recycling and reusing waste, and how our students can contribute their bit to save the environment. At National public school, we conduct workshops and competitions on reusing and recycling waste with an aim to make the students understand the importance of preserving the environment and learning about sustainability.
By conducting the best out-of-waste competitions, children can learn and experiment with new things. These projects also bring out the creativity of the child in using waste to create something good besides learning interesting science facts as well.
Some easy best-out-of-waste ideas are:
Make potpourri out of fruit peels. In this project, the children can make use of the fruit peel and flower petals to make an organic scented freshener. Homemade potpourri is easy to make and makes a wonderful gift to friends and family. Isn’t that amazing?
Planters: Most houses have empty plastic bottles that are waste, rather than dumping them, you can ask the child to make a beautiful planter for the tiny plants, which can add beauty to their study table.
Some other projects for the best out of waste are using old tins or bottles cut into half where the lower part can be wrapped with colourful paper or cloth and even painted to serve as a stationery holder on the table. Plastic spoons can serve as a good material to create attractive flower vases. Wooden ice cream sticks can be beautifully arranged to create a frame for pictures or holding the timetable. Even popsicles ice cream sticks can be painted with cartoon characters and adding some elements which can act as a fancy bookmark that can be gifted to your friend or for self use.
These simple projects are perfect for your child to be creative and create a one-of-a-kind that is made from a discarded or waste item. At NPS Sarjapur, we provide an environment that helps the child to develop academics and social competence that focuses on the overall development of the child. National public school is one of the best CBSE schools in Sarjapur road.
Conclusion
As citizens, we have to put in some effort and do our bit to save the environment. It is important to cut down the waste that contributes to the landfills. If we all practise recycling and upcycling in our day-to-day life, hopefully we can reduce the need for new landfills. This concept should be followed by the children and the schools to make earth a better place to live.

Critique - Heat Wave
‘Heat Wave’ is a collection of environmental photography by Zhong Lin, published on the cover and interior pages of the January issue of Vogue Taiwan 2022. "Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature-the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter." Rachel Carson said in “Silent Spring”, released in September 1962. The photographer Zhong Lin used this as inspiration to create a series of beautiful photographs that seem like dark prophecies. Half a century on, the core of our conversation about the impact of human activity on the environment has changed from herbicides to carbon footprints and climate change. The photographer's use of poetic narrative and rigorous research effectively conveys the idea of environmental protection to the audience in the form of photographs. The poignant and poetic images remind me of the Netflix series ‘Sweet Tooth’, which gives us a preview of what the future might look like.
Fashion director Joey Lin, prop maker Wenching Yu and model Peng Chang created a story about a fantastical fish-like creature struggling to survive in polluted waters, using the inspiration of ‘Silent Spring’. The popsicle on the cover photo was created by Taiwanese designer Yichen Hong. He travelled around Taiwan to collect the polluted water sources and created a design project called ‘100% Polluted Water Popsicles’.  “If the near future could be condensed into a popsicle, instead of chocolate chips or powdered dough, it might be filled with plastic debris, microorganisms and other rubbish,” says Leslie Sun, Editor-in-Chief of VOGUE Taiwan. “The seemingly disturbing yet whimsical images all convey our notion of the hidden reality behind not only reflecting climate change but also bringing us face to face with the issues of ocean pollution and food safety."
Technically, the photographer uses high angles in most of the photographs. This is to convey a sense of vulnerability as shooting from a high angle makes the subject look small and vulnerable, which is used to convey emotions such as fear or powerlessness. The camera shots that she used in this series of photos are long shots and medium shots. Long shots can provide a broader view of the scene and show how the character interact with their environment, giving the audience a better sense of their relationship to the surroundings and allowing the audience to get a better sense of the location or environment and emphasizing the distance between the viewer and the subject. A medium shot can capture the subject's body language and facial expressions, providing more detail and nuance than a long shot.
The photographer uses black and gold as the main colours, using black to represent the oil spills and other pollutants that harm the ocean, and gold to represent the sea life that is affected by these pollutants. This is because the use of black can create a sense of drama and contrast and symbolize mourning or sadness, especially when paired with brighter colours or metallic tones.
For the set, the photographer chose to shoot in a gloomy smog sky and a coastline full of waste. The plastic debris and marine debris that appear in the series are taken from the real environment and are not props. The stranded mermaid princess's tail is covered with industrial oil, the water is full of dark foam, and the popsicle on the girl's hand is a mixture of sewage and garbage. The photographer is trying to remind and raise awareness of an environmental issue that they have ignored with a strong visual impact and shock that may not be far from the reality of the future. As the earth becomes a giant greenhouse and the sea gradually encroaches on our living areas, we will need to develop our amphibian skills to survive in the polluted water in the foreseeable future.
According to the 1987 United Nations publication ‘The Brundtland report: Our common future’, sustainability is the concept of meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The photographs make the audience alert and reflect on the need to increase our awareness of the threats posed by climate change and environmental challenges and to take action for sustainable development.
We should learn to protect the planet and, in turn, protect ourselves.
