📮🗑️Kanto 'Early Route Evo's' Redesigns🗑️📮 Pidgeotto and Raticate join the bunch, and I'm re-starting this project after putting it in the cooler for like 4-5 months!! Pidgeotto continues the inspiration I used for Pidgey, adding to the idea of a carrier pigeon by going from a subtle Envelope design to a flat-out postman pigeon. I love the lil hat and mailbags, and his wing pattern alludes to its final evolution, Pidgeot. As its name ends with -otto, an Italian diminutive suffix, meaning that it's like a Smaller Pidgeot, which I found neat. Raticate is still a rat, but I add to Rattata's "Attack" part of the name and Raticate's "Eradicate" part of the name, turning them into a grim little Fumigator. It also take inspiration from respirators, hazmat suits and the standard "Plague Rat". It might also receive the Poison-type, though Kanto had enough of those. As it goes on and on, the titles grow longer and the Pokemon grow up .w.!! I'm walking a fine line between species and character, but it still works I think .w.!! 84/151

🐜Kanto Big Bugs Redesigns 🐜 Let's start this project up again with a bang!! As Scyther and Pinsir join the dex, we near our halfway point. This means we'll go from first stage Pokemon to second stages and standalones!! Scyther still takes after a Praying Mantis, leaning even more heavily towards it now. Its long standing territorial disputes with Pinsir results in both species being known for missing appendages due to constant fights. I put lots of emphasis on the scythe, but added hints of garden clippers to incorporate botanical tools into the design. Pinsir now mainly takes after a Stag Beetle, combined with a set of pincers (see what I did there??). The territorial nature is again featured heavily in the design. Again I added emphasis on the tool it's named after, but for Pinsir is also added hints of carpentry tools, such as a hammer arm and nail-shaped legs. I already planned out what my feed while look like for the next couple of weeks, hopefully you'll enjoy the upcoming designs while we reach a milestone in this project .w.!! 73/151

🌧️🌩️🔥Kanto Eeveelutions Redesigns🔥🌩️🌧️ Long awaited, as Eevee was one of the first Kanto Pokemon to get their redesigns!! I've been thinking alot about these redesigns, as selecting the right canines for the right types was a bit of a challenge .w.;; Vaporeon is now based on a Borzoi, mostly because of their droopy anatomy and long, flowy fur. It kinda looks like it's wearing a raincoat/poncho too!! Jolteon now takes inspiration from Poodles, mostly due to the fact that the curly fur, combined with their streamlined bodies reminded me of thunderclouds!! Its ears, tail and nose glow bright depending on the amount of static energy stored in its body!! Flareon was a tough one, because Kanto could be famous for the amount of Fire type canines. To keep it from looking to much like Dachshund Growlithe and Fox Vulpix, I went for a Pomeranaian, matching its typing to a fiery personality!! Hope y'all like them, might continue the Eeveelutions in the future, even if I don't redesign Johto - onwards. 64/151

🦋🐝Kanto Regional Bug Redesigns🐝🦋 At long last, after 50+ redesigns, I've have completed an Evolution Family, two to be precise!! Scuttle around to make some room for Metapod, Butterfree, Kakuna and Beedrill! Metapod and Butterfree are the product of "Reverse Engineering of a Non-existent design" as Caterpie was designed from Butterfree's original inspiration; the Black-veined White. So the line follows suit, with Metapod designed off of the pupa stage and Butterfree of the final stage. Both were designed to be a bit more aloof to contrast with the Beedrill line. Kakuna and Beedrill are still designed around the Killer Bee motif, also taking a bit from construction workers and drills. Kakuna gets more enraged by the day as they are stuck in their place, unable to move. This results in hyperactive Beedrills, using their lower body as a jackhammer. It feels like I've reached a milestone, but we're not done yet!! Next batch will also be evolutions, fan favorites, just to spoil y'all a bit!! 61/151

🐎🥚🦏Kanto Safari Zone Redesigns🦏🥚🐎 Kanto has a diverse range of Pokemon living there, some more suited to the sprawling nature and rugged terrain than others. Ponyta, Doduo and Rhyhorn are some of the best examples for this, so let's give them a warm welcome!! Ponyta is still a fire horse, honest to God couldn't think of anything else. Its body now rocks marshmallow colors and its manes and tail are more of a whole to not clutter the design too much. Doduo now takes more inspiration from actual Dodo's, also adding more of an 'awkward freshly hatched baby bird" look into the mix. I kept some of the browns from the original design to make it look more at home in dry tall grass. Rhyhorn was also styled more after real-life Rhinos. Though I'm adding a bit more of an Earthmoving Kaiju into the mix with a cooler color pallet. The focus on the 'horn' part of the name should be obvious. Back on to this project again, it was really hard to emulate the style again after so long, but especially Ponyta turned out great .w.!! Only a few more posts of the "Three Designs Collections" left, afterwards it'll become mostly duo's and solo pieces .w.;; 57/151

🔃🎮Kanto Trade Evolutions Redesigns🎮🔃 Almost every Gen 1 team had one of these at some point, as Abra, Machop, Geodude and Gastly join the line up!! They had lots of utility already back then, but I decided to intertwine their lines even more!! But that detail is for later. Abra, as the name suggests, is themed more after Stage Magic now. Using the motif of the 'Rabbit being pulled out of the Magicians hat' I'm already alluding to the eventual evolutionary loops this line will make. It is, however, not actually a rabbit, but a lamb!! Machop takes more of an Orc/Oni, adding some size to its hands to really drive home the 'Chop' part of its name. Geodude, very cleverly, is based more closely on a Geode. It's also just a lil dude at the moment. Gastly now more closely resembles the classic 'sheet ghost', just in time for spooky season too. The gas that makes up most of its body is light enough to make objects around it float, which helps when it becomes a true poltergeist. These took a lil while due to all the planning I had to do in advance for the evolutions, but I hope it'll pay off!! 68/151

🧲🚫💾Kanto "BZZT" Redesign💾🚫🧲 Magnemite, Voltorb and Porygon this time~!! And boii, were they challenging!! Magnemite was the easiest, as the Mite part already brings ideas with it. I went for the literal Mite route, turning it into a robotic bug with a magnet for pincers. Finish it off with some bolts and miscellaneous metal parts and you've got yourself a proper Lil dude. Voltorb is now based around a Plasma Globe, yet still takes some inspiration from the Pokeball capsule. It's more friendly though, rather hyperactive too to match the more spikey bolts jotting through the encasing. It was the hardest to make interesting as the silhouette is rather simple. Porygon now resembles a Floppy Disc. It still consists mostly of code but has the added role of being more of a mascot. It still leans heavily on the theme of dated technology. Soon we'll reach the 50 Redesigns mark, and I still need to figure out how to celebrate it .w.;; Also wondering whether I should first make some more single stages or evolutions before finishing the first stages. 44/151

✨🥥🎏Kanto Rival Pokemon Redesigns🎏🥥✨ Isn't it fun that Blue, your rival, always makes sure to have a balanced team based around your starter? Same three Pokemon, switching one with his starters. Say hello to the three options he has, as Growlithe, Exeggcute and Magikarp join the line-up!! Growlithe is now another species of dogs, a dachshund to be precise!! Already hinting towards its evolution, the design is slender and agile, bit with short legs. The "lithe" part in Growlithe is derived from another term for slender, fitting the lil Weiner Hound aesthetic. Its tongue is extremely hot and sparks can be seen flying off of it. Exeggcute is now more of a coconut, I might move from my etymology design rule because that'll become really dark, really fast. Its a coconut in its germination stage, creating an antenna to send out psychic energy. The two critters in the coconut shell produce the psychic energy and by combining their skills they can fend of attackers with ease. Magikarp is a carp, unexpected, I know. Now taking more after "Koinobori", streamers shaped like carp, to hint more towards its final evolution. It also looks ready to snap after a long battle upstream!! These will be the last for a lil while, first I'm gonna try my hardest to graduate!! I got a good feeling, but first I wanna hear it before I get to confident .w.;; 54/151

🕯️💤🐻Kanto Spooky Redesigns🐻💤🕯️ The Spooky Pokemon are here~!! Like a lil trip through Lavender Town~!! Vulpix, Drowzee and Cubone join the crowd!! (Gastly will be part of another group >wo) Vulpix is still a fox, though it hints at its more Mystical properties when it evolves. Its facemarkings take inspiration from the typical Kitsune masks and its tongue is shaped like an Ofuda, a paper talisman used for all sorts of mystical things, though most frequently banishment and concealment. Drowzee is also still based on a tapir, a really sleepy one at that. Its feet are styled after pillow tassels, its head looks like a night cap and its eyes are even lil Zzz shapes~!! Cubone is the one that got the biggest redesigns, now based on a black bear cub. It still wears the skull of its parental guardian but I made the poor thing extra sad, using the drooping ears and the big Ghibli style tears to exaggerate the emotion .w.;; I was really looking forward to these!! The next redesign will be the last till graduation, and it'll be a big one. An iconic big one~!! 50/151
