Baneful Usages for Pokemon Spirits

This post isn't written from experience, but rather mostly theory, so it might not actually work in practice. This also isn't exhaustive, just me thinking of possible usages.

I wrote this from my own POV on baneful magic, hence all the "enemy" talk. That's what I use baneful magic for. It's not the only valid form, though.

Feel free to reblog and add your own additions! Take your favorite Pokemon and find a way to make them baneful.

Alakazam can make your enemy feel like a fool.

Annihilape can be used to strike down your foes and keep them down.

Arbok can make your enemy ill with their venom.

Basculegion can be used as a vessel for angry spirits to strike down those corrupt in power or public enemies.

Cramorant can be called upon to make your enemy choke on their own words and actions.

Cubone can increase grief and grieving for lost loved ones.

Deino can lead your enemy to feel blinded and lost.

Dhelmise can lead your enemy to feel like they're drowning in their own negativity.

Eevee can lead your enemy to be confused about themself and their identity.

Froslass can lead for them to get "stuck" as who they are, preventing self-growth and growth in skills.

Hypno can haunt your enemy's dreams and inflict nightmares. Hypno can also cause them to behave in ways they wouldn't normally.

Joltik can haunt people who are terrified of spiders.

Kommo-o can make sure your enemy never has a moment of auditory peace.

Litwick can lead your enemies astray while draining them in the process. Might be good to keep on someone who likes using baneful magic on you drained magically so they can't perform more spells on you.

Mawile can sabotage your enemy's life from behind them.

Murkrow can bring great misfortune upon your enemy. Conversely, Honchkrow can be used to make sure your enemy's crimes and sins are never forgotten.

Ninetails can help you control your enemies to keep them from harming you further.

Noctowl can keep your enemies up at night, causing insomnia.

Pikachu can overload their electronic devices, causing them to break.

Polteageist can lead your enemy to get food poisoning.

Slowpoke can make your enemy exhausted.

Sudowoodo can make your enemy feel unseen as their true self.

Tinkaton can generally ruin your enemy's life.

Tsareena can just kick the shit out of your enemy and lead them to become physically injured.

Zoroark can serve as a trickster spirit to mess with your enemy.

Zubat can serve as general annoyance.

Where I write myself or a off shoot of myself into my fandom/source practicing magic in that world. I’ve done it a few times with Pokémon, and spells and rituals come to me a lot quicker. PC and non-PC magic. And it’s fun. So when I start to watch a bit more Naruto, I’m gonna attempt to figure out seals.

What Am I Doing?

I’m combining witchcraft with the Pokémon games.

To start, I’m using the Pokémon Database as a reference and using primarily Gen 7 movesets, if a Pokémon comes in after Gen 7 I’ll use the movesets from their generation. ~~~

Every day I work with a Pokémon they go up a level, they learn moves as usual and if leveling up is all they need for evolution they’ll evolve as usual.

For moves learnt from level one, if there's more than four moves available I'll roll four dice and pick them base of the numbers I role, if there's only one move I'll choose an egg move to balance it out.

For evolution that requires a level and trading, I just go with the level. If it requires trading but not a level I’ll double the level they evolved from or just go with the first two numbers of their Pokédex Number, excluding zero, if the trade is for the Pokémon’s second stage. If it requires an item at all I need to find something as close to the item as possible and use it with leveling up or on its own, I also have to safely dispose of the item once it's used to evolve my pokemon. And if i requires a specific place I’ll also try to find a location similar to it. Examples: - Trading, 3rd and/or Final Stage: Gastly evolves into Haunter at level 25, so Haunter evolves into Gengar at level 50. - Trading, 2nd and/or Final Stage: Phantump’s Pokédex Number is #708, so Phantump evolves into Trevenant at level 70. - Trading & Item, 3rd and/or Final Stage: Duskull evolves into Dusclops at level 37, so Dusclops evolves into Dusknoir at at least level 74 and when I have the real-world equivalent of a Reaper Cloth. - Trading & Item, 2nd and/or Final Stage: Onix’s Pokédex Number is #95, so Onix evolves into Steelix at at least level 95 and when I have the real-world equivalent of a Metal Coat. ~~~

My starter Pokémon is the one I get the choose, the rest of the Pokémon I add to my party will be the ones who, in a way, choose me. If I see something, or if something happens, I’ll take it as a possible sign and see if any Pokémon fit it I'll add them to the team, regardless of the Pokémon.

Nasser's Plea for Help!

At this point, I know you have all seen hundreds of fundraisers, but I beg you not to look away from this one. This one is very dear to my heart, because it is for my most precious brother, Nasser Akar Mohammad (@nasserakar6).

On January 23, 2023, Nasser's father, Mohammad, was martyred by the occupation forces. Ten children lost a father. A woman lost her husband. A man whom they all loved and depended on, gone from this world in a single cruel moment, for no reason other than he dared to live. Their home and family store, turned to rubble. An entire family, displaced with nowhere to go among the fighting of their former home.

Since then, Nasser, his mother, and his siblings have been living in a refugee camp among the wreckage of their home city. Can you imagine it? I can't. But we don't have to- Nasser and his family are living through it.

Nasser has shown and told me firsthand: The conditions of the camps are abysmal, and without third-party aid, they're only getting worse. Nasser and his family are without a reliable means of keeping warm. THEY NEED DONATIONS!- even small ones!- now, more than ever this winter.

Trading Card Game Divination

One of my main ways of divination, next to the Clow cards, is Magic the Gathering. After years of trying methods like tarot, lenormand & other cartomancies I saw someone on twitch giving readings with pokemon cards. I was interested and I've been doing it ever since!

Building your deck

First you have to decide what system you will be using. Magic the Gathering? Pokémon? Lorcana? Altered? (etc) When just starting out I suggest using cards you already have. It may not be the best of the best, but you can get an idea of what you want and if you like it. My own decks have between 50 and 75 cards.

What's also a neat thing is that you can tailor TCG divination decks to your liking! You could make a theme or have 'em be nicer or meaner (I like a blunt deck, personally). You can also keep upgrading them as new sets come out. For example, my Magic the Gathering deck is a mix of Theros, Strixhaven & Wilds of Eldraine.

The Basis

Regardless of what route you take, your deck should have a base of one card of each mana type, if your tcg of choice has those. It will be the element in it's purest form like the aces in tarot. You can always take type meanings with you as cards will have one or more anyways.

A few examples:

Mountain (Fire, passion, struggles, aggressive, speed, etc)

Island (Water, emotions, isolation, magic, etc)

Water (Emotions, fluidity, adaptable, etc)

Fire (Passion, drive, aggression, excitable, assertive, etc)

Electric (Energy, sudden, fast, shocking, irritable, etc)

Fighting (Endurance, fighting, tradition, studying, etc)

Psychic (Intuition, magic, manifestation, etc)

Fairy (Wishes, hope, positivity, etc)

There is a lot from the card itself you can take with you in your reading. Let's look at Spectacle Mage to see what.

You can use:

The cost, their attack & defense or all together (numerology)

The name of the card

The subtext of the card

The abilities of the card

The (creature)type of the card

The element(s)

The image

The setting

Pokémon cards will have attacks and stages you can take with you in your readings, next to how they act (try sites like bulbapedia). With Lorcana you can look at the stories of the disney characters, as well as the lyrics of their songs and whether they can turn into ink or not.

Now to add other cards! You want a mix & match of different themes. If you build a deck of around 50 cards I advice you have little theme overlap between the cards unless you like the nuance. My Pokémon deck has Deino & Diglett which both can mean overwhelm with the versions I have. But whereas Deino is pure overwhelm because it can't find its way nor its family, Diglett's overwhelm is because it dug out next to the sea. You dug too deep, poked your nose where you shouldn't have, said yes one too many times, etc.

Once you have a good amount of cards you can give 'em cute sleeves, practice with your deck and build up from there!

How I Found Out My Starter

In the last few days I've been looking more into pop culture witchcraft and decided to try it out with Pokémon. The only issue was that I couldn't decide on who I wanted my starter to be, so yesterday I told myself that I'll look for signs in my dreams and go based on that.

Long story short, my dream was technically a nightmare because I was going to executed inside a giant crystal (that looked extremely similar to a Sableye's crystal when they mega evolve) along with dozens other people. And the next to be executed were a pair of youtubers/comedians that I watch, but they somehow survived it.

Then I woke up, and I got to work.

When I made the Sableye connection I couldn't figure out what it meant, because they couldn't be my starter since I would've been killed by their crystal if I hadn't woken up and they weren't starters to begin with.

So then I looked them up on Pokémon Data base and went through their Pokédex entries, but that didn't help because they didn't line up with any part of the dream, so then I went to what type would be effective against them, and the only type effective against Sableyes is fairy. And only one of the starters has the fairy typing when they evolve.

So I'm working with Popplio now!

Also, I find the inclusion of the two youtubers/comedians I watch so interesting, because even without looking up the type disadvantages and advantages, there are clues that hint towards it being Popplio, like how they're partially based on clowns and how there's seven letters if you combine the two's names, which is also what Popplio has.

If it requires an item at all I need to find something as close to the item as possible and use it with leveling up or on its own, I also have to safely dispose of the item. And if i requires a specific place I’ll also try to find a location similar to it. Examples: - Trading, 3rd and/or Final Stage: Gastly evolves into Haunter at level 25, so Haunter evolves into Gengar at level 50. - Trading, 2nd and/or Final Stage: Phantump’s Pokédex Number is #708, so Phantump evolves into Trevenant at level 70. - Trading & Item, 3rd and/or Final Stage: Duskull evolves into Dusclops at level 37, so Dusclops evolves into Dusknoir at at least level 74 and when I have the real-world equivalent of a Reaper Cloth. - Trading & Item, 2nd and/or Final Stage: Onix’s Pokédex Number is #95, so Onix evolves into Steelix at at least level 95 and when I have the real-world equivalent of a Metal Coat. ~~~

My starter Pokémon is the one I get the choose, the rest of the Pokémon I add to my party will be the ones who, in a way, choose me. If I see something, or if something happens, I’ll take it as a possible sign and see if any Pokémon fit it I'll add them to the team, regardless of the Pokémon.

for an introduction, how i have decided to split this up is into major deities, minor deities, major spirits, and minor spirits. i will not be creating anything in-depth in terms of the actual spirits in question, as this is not a correspondence list but rather just a loose guide for constructing a pantheon. this will involve a few concepts to get you started in working with certain pokemon, but again, it is not extensive.

in my personal belief, these spirits are standalone and evolution is completely within the pokemon universe, as opposed to our universe - however, you are free to experiment as you like, and even work with multiple pokemon of an evolutionary tree. this will also be put under a cut for length.

definitions:

the "major" deities would be equated to the legendary pokemon; the ones with more inherent strength and govern over more powerful concepts that we encounter in the universe (such as governing over the sea as opposed to water). they are less involved in our personal lives, but are still worth reaching out to.

the "minor" deities would be equated to the non-legendary, but still significantly powerful pokemon within the type. they are usually fully evolved. while they do not govern over powerful concepts such as the major deities, they are still powerful enough to be considered a deity as opposed to a spirit. there is a sense of stronger importance with minor deities than major and minor spirits. they are more involved in our personal lives than major deities, but are still less involved than major and minor spirits.

the "major" spirits would be equated with non-fully evolved pokemon, usually a middle evolution. what they govern over is less powerful than the major and minor deities, but are still stronger than the minor spirits. they are more involved in our lives than the major and minor deities, but less so than minor spirits.

the "minor" spirits would be equated with base-level pokemon. what they govern over is the least powerful of all, but are the most approachable and workable spirits to involve yourself with. they are very involved in our personal lives.
