I'm Taking Back the Crown - One-shot.

Synopsis: Scott has been desperately searching a trainer worthy enough to lead his Battle Frontier, all the while its grand unveiling hovers ever closer.

Anabel has come to challenge the facilities with a singular purpose in mind and three of the strongest Pokemon in Hoenn at her command. Come hell or high water, she's getting what she came here for.

(Also, about time we got some DLC characters. Like, it's still kind of surprising we had to wait four-ish years almost for these two. That's nearly as long as Masters has been out.)

Let's go. First RO to get a team is Sweetheart. I tried to keep within the Dragon/Fairy/Ground grouping, but there was some deviation.

The first pokémon Sweetheart throws out in battle is his Cyclizar. "The rider's body heat warms Cyclizar's back and lifts the Pokémon's spirit." Sweetheart lets it chase down anyone who tries to run, you know, for enrichment.

Next up, Tinkaton. They are hammer buddies and Sweetheart has been raising this one since it was a Tinkatink. He is a girl dad and his girl wants to kill pokémon and add their corpses to her hammer. He is so proud.

Third is Applin. Rumor says that if someone gives the person they like an Applin, they'll be together forever. Sweetheart has 110% tested this rumor. It has not worked so far. Anyways, hope MC wants it on their team, because it is only a matter of time before a romanced Sweetheart gives it to them.

Following that we have Nidoking and Nidoqueen as his fourth and fifth pokémon. According to Nidoking's pokédex entry, "When it goes on a rampage, it's impossible to control. But in the presence of a Nidoqueen it's lived with for a long time, Nidoking calms down." They are a mated pair and Sweetheart cannot separate them. They are in love and it is good and pure and his Nidoking will kill him if he breaks them up.

And lastly the one that breaks the typing rule, Sweetheart's starter, his blade buddy, is none other than Bisharp. Sweetheart's very first pokémon was something he had to be careful while touching or else risk getting hurt. He has learned absolutely nothing from it.

Grusha Headcanons

Grusha avoids social and networking events as far as possible. Even though his role as Gym Leader demands a certain degree of public engagement, he finds it exceedingly difficult to sustain conversations, and often comes across as aloof and rude without meaning to. Rather than risk saying something tactless, he engages as little as possible.

He joined the League a few months before Ryme did, but he has taken much longer to settle into his role. Despite being relatively new to the professional battle scene, critics rank him as one of the strongest Gym Leaders in Paldea, with the makings to become an Elite in future. Geeta has dropped similar hints during his annual performance reviews. But the praise does not always register; he doubts his ability and dwells on defeats, which often leads to him avoiding more challenging opponents. 

Grusha did not have great interest in pokémon battles when he was younger. Neither of his parents were trainers, but they pressed him to try an array of sports and other pursuits throughout childhood, both battling and coordinating among them. Of the countless activities he dabbled in, snowboarding was the only one that truly seized his interest, but now that this path has closed to him, he has fallen back on alternative pursuits. Competitive battle still does not wholly engage him - but it is, at the very least, something he can feel good at. 

His battle style is notable for how he manipulates visibility during matches. His signature technique utilises tailwinds combined with hailstorms and haze, which makes it exceedingly difficult for opposing trainers and their pokémon to see what is happening on the battlefield. His own team, all trained to rely on senses other than sight, are well adapted to fighting in such conditions. The technique is highly effective, but League officials have gently (but firmly) discouraged him from using it in more public matches, because low visibility hurts spectator enjoyment. 

When he was younger, Grusha kept his hair short. It was only during the long, listless year after his injury that he grew it out, largely because he couldn’t summon the energy to book a haircut. He has since decided that he prefers it that way. Occasionally, he experiments with his appearance in other ways, such as with nail polish and makeup, but he is intensely private about it, especially now he is back in the public eye. 

He does not tend to keep his pokémon in pokéballs unless he has to, as they are adjusted to roaming alone on Glaseado mountain. His weavile is especially reluctant to be contained. While Grusha has good control of his team on the battlefield, he is lax in domestic settings - he lets his pokémon sleep where they please, and even feeds them food from his own plate. 

Grusha did some occasional modelling as a child, largely due to his mother’s insistence and fashion connections. He has taken on similar work as an adult, but he feels more self-conscious in front of a camera than he used to, uncertain of how to stand and hold himself. 

Due to how recently he entered his role, he is not especially close to anyone in the League. At the few social functions he attends, Rika is one of the few to always strike up a conversation with him, but he assumes she is only being polite. Her blatant attempts to flirt are also taken as politeness.   

Before his altaria evolved, she liked to settle in his hair and sleep on his head. She still attempts to do it now, even though she is rather too heavy for it.

King and Queen host State Visit for Emperor and Empress of Japan at Buckingham Palace

The Queen has worn the new Royal Family Order of King Charles III to the state banquet, the first time it has been seen in public for the new reign.

The Royal Family Order, which is awarded to female members of the family and worn on formal occasions, contains a miniature picture of the monarch, surrounded by diamonds suspended on a silk bow.

The Family Order was created in 2024 by portrait miniaturist Elizabeth Meek and based on a photograph by Hugo Burnand.

The King wears his uniform of Admiral of the Fleet, the sash of the Royal Victorian Order, the Garter Star and Thistle Star, and the Garter Collar and Neck Orders of the Order of the Bath and the Royal Victorian Order.

Making their way towards the room, Destino handed their crown to Hershel, their loyal bisharp bodyguard.

Destino: I want you to keep this safe for me. I don’t think I’ll have much use for it up there, especially if I’m trying to hide from everyone. As much as I love all of the attention, I feel this situation may not require me to draw too much to myself. Shame really but I don’t want to die. Good luck down here handling my parents and all.

Before Destino could walk away, Hershel stopped them with a hand.

Hershel: My prime. I feel you should take this back. It came from the surface and I feel as though you may be able to find out more information about it.

Hershel had that damn crystal in his hand. Destino didn’t really want to take it. They used it once but they didn’t feel as though they were going to need it. Destino sighed and took the crystal, tucking it into their fur. They couldn’t store much in the mass of fur they had but it was useful to hold small things. Destino, Hope and Felix entered into the king and queen’s room, the door to the surface still open from when Destino had first discovered it.

The king and queen’s voices echoed down the tunnel, even though they weren’t quite in view yet. Shit. Now they were coming back from their trip. It did confirm to Destino that they knew about the surface. They were pissed about it. All their life, Destino had been told it was impossible to make it to the surface and yet their parents ventured to the surface and kept it a secret from them, their only child. Were their parents ever going to tell them? Or were they planning on keeping Destino in the dark about it?

Felix: Destino, what do we do? They’re coming this way and I don’t think they’ll want to see us in here.

Hope: We have time to hide from them and sneak up without them knowing. Now’s not really the time to be getting caught.

Destino was conflicted. A part of them wanted to tell their parents about how awful they had been for keeping this whole thing a secret but a part of them felt they didn’t deserve a final conversation before they went up to save the world. It would be satisfying heading off with a big, “fuck you,” to their parents.
