i kinda dont believe this just yet coming from just one shitter user with clout but if it is really happening then for now all i gotta say is… thats scary.

red and green will be white and neurotypical. leaf played by awkwafina will woman womanly down the stairs. she will only have pokemon For Women™. the reguribait will only be treated as a joke rather than anything heartfelt and their communication will consist solely of snarky mcu style quip-offs. netflix will cancel it after one season right after it just teased johto.

…but lets imagine it will be good instead. i am actually quite open to a live action genwun and imagine it in my head a lot. i think one with a nonverbal red would be literally sooooo interesting and awesome to see. like just let the audience still yknow. feel a connection between red and his pokemon without any words. i would immediately cry many tears. leaf can be the funnygirl in this whole thing. but of course netflix is going to disagree. 😂

still too early to say anything rn. but one thing coming to my mind is that IF im allowed to stray away a bit from the usual idea of pallet town being considered the most countryside of all countrysides, i tend to base it off of how shimoda city looks. this is the live action pallet town to me with its surrounding nature having much to offer!!

WRITING A VARIGO FIC RN SO YES Varian just never stopped being afraid of blood. So, one time, Hugo got hurt during the trials. Bleeding all over the place kind of injury. "Did Varian help him?" "Did Varian support him?" Varian dropped like a rock to the ground and Nuru and Yong found them knocked out and one of them covered in blood and they were like "...what is WRONG with these adults?" Playing Pokemon Violet DLC,,,,, Varian would have a Galarian Zigzagoon and Hugo would have a Zorua. They hate each other Olivia was NOT for Varigo. She was over here going "Nope that is MY Hugo, I have had him all to myself for years and you can't have him" and Ruddiger was entirely ready to have another human to feed him apples so they were just fighting each other. Still very bitter about having to share their people, though. AUs... thinking about aus Specifically a Star Rail au where Varian is Mara-struck. That appeals to me. I could write that. But I don't want to share vat7k with people that like hsr because nothing is scarier than having a popular fandom in your fandom of like, twelve people. SPEAKING OF HOYOVERSE GAMES Varian would have a cryo vision. Since they stand for conflicted ideals most of the time, he'd probably get it during the snowstorm. They like horror movies but are both objectively afraid of them. In the bad way. Varian watches that one really fucked up episode of My Little Pony and is out for the rest of the year on horror movies. He kins Stygian.

Varian and Ruddiger copy each others expressions. Olivia noticed this and got EXTREMELY jealous, so she started doing it with Hugo. They both have their little vermin copying them. Hugo does not have Can Eat Spicy Food Swag. He only has White Boy Swag. Hugo and Rapunzel do white girl shit together. Rapunzel loves Varian very much, but she and Hugo are posing together for Instagram pictures and buying Starbucks and going to Target. Hugo with a braid is real to ME because I feel like that reminds him of Rapunzel. Varian thinks it's funny. ON THE SAME NOTE Hugo does not understand Rapunzel. He doesn't understand people who do nice things for no reason. If he's doing something nice, it's because he expects favors back. Even if the favor is just something like a kiss from Varian or a good pat on the back from Eugene. Rapunzel will give him little gifts and he panics because he doesn't know what she expects back from him. Varian has to explain that she's just That Nice. He's very concerned. They participate in actively sitting in each other's laps. Ask them when the last time they sat in an actual chair was and they stare off into the distance and have a flashback scene in their mind. Hugo is objectively uncomfortable to sit on but his scrawny twink ass is just laying on Varian whenever possible. Royal meeting and they don't have an extra chair for him? Don't worry gang, he already has one!

8,934 if I added right. I've written well beyond that but it's not published or published to AO3.

3. What Fandoms do You Write For?

Currently Good Omens! Back about 10 ish years ago, I used to write a lot of Hetalia and Pokemon (if you were on DA/Quotev and read reader inserts in the 2010s, I'm sorry) and also had a short stint with Yuri on Ice. If we go for never published stuff, Inuyasha.

4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do! I try my best to at least - I really like interacting with comments and seeing what people have to say!

5. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Actually yes - quite a few times! Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if they are still being stolen to this day by random Wattpad users (it was always fucking Wattpad). My fic "Just the Way You Are (BTT X Reader) [yes I was that songfic author - again I'm sorry] was stolen quite often, along with a few others. As a result I'm quite protective over my fics - used to do line editing so I could put my name extremely small in the text so when it was copy pasted my name showed up multiple times haha.

6. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No! I haven't actually - did some creative writing prompts between people in discord before and am part of an ongoing project but as of this moment I haven't. Have helped my girlfriend with her own stuff but that's for the most part her own thing.

7. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Fuck I have to pick ONE? Sweating rn uhhhh... I have two of equal measure I can think of off the top of my head: AziraCrow (Aziraphale x Crowley - Good Omens) and Hualian (Hua Cheng x Xie Lian - Heaven Official's Blessing).

8. What are your Writing Strengths?

If I go off what people tell me: heavily immersive and visual writing. And characterization. And short form story writing.

9. What are your Writing Weaknesses?

My inability to focus on a single project, along with my terrible habit of starting fics on a whim before abandoning it because I have no idea where the story was going in the first place. My ADHD makes my motivation come and go like the wind so I can go months without updating anything, and led to a lot of my old ones getting abandoned. I also have a terrible habit of dragging scenes out because I tend to want to explain a lot of things, which leads me to procrastinate a lot when I can't think of how to describe what I want. I'm trying to get better at it. Oh, and a personal pet peeve of mine is not being able to write a fic under 5k words, because I don't like publishing shorter fics, especially self contained ones. I admire people who are able to publish shorter stories a lot, I just personally get really anxious over putting out something that wasn't at least 5 word document pages long as a chapter.

10. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

If we count unpublished and never seen the light of day, it was Inuyasha. It was a fic called "The Golden Arrow", which was based off a dream I had somewhere in the early 2010's. The only one who saw anything for it was a school friend of mine, and while I generally remember the gist of it, it's been lost to time for the most part, as it was written on an app on an old phone I have but lost the cord to.

If we wanna talk actually published to the internet, I'm pretty sure it was Pokemon.

Know you have awakened a beast.

Honestly the only reason I watched Diamond and Pearl (and not even all of it) was because of it was on Pokemon TV but wow Ash's Pokemon there. Wow. Black and White were kind after the brutality that was that team.

Minor spoilers I suppose but I wanna ramble :3.

A lot of people (used to) dunk on Black and White and I never got why. It was a fun thing I watched a bit so I went back and finished most of B&W before checking out Diamond and Pearl and. Yeah. DP is a lot more focused and Ash is a bit more serious (still goofy though!) and there's a lot more emphasis on strategies. And the trainers there are all tough, so Ash is thinking some insane plot stuff.

But one thing that I wish was done more was the Pokemon. I'm not going to bash it and say that it was bad, but coming from B&W and X&Y, the Pokemon don't have as much as a side character presence that they do. They all have their episodes and moments, but I always loved the slow moments of Pokemon bonding more than the serious training ones and DP unfortunately has more of the latter. Not bad by any means but c'mon. You know me. You know what I like.

A stand out from this team is Chimchar and I can say this because it's been memed to hell and back but every single one of Ash's fire starters are traumatized in one way or another except for one (Cyndaquil/Quilava). The writers like their angst with this one starter type. And remember how I mentioned things were more brutal here? Tepig's abandonment is genuinely terrible, but Chimchar- we get to know him before Ash gets him. We see him with his trainer for a bit before Ash gets him. Not gonna spoil but we know how he was treated.

The anime went into this for like an ep, but I want to go into it more. Talk about the little fire monkey and just. How weird adjusting to Ash was from his previous trainer, who pops back up again and again. Chimchar is notably stronger than all of Ash's other Pokemon on the Sinnoh team. I don't think it was ever called into attention before, but you pay attention enough and by the end of the series, Chimchar (now evolved) is still stronger than everyone else. Do you know how much angst can be pulled from that? How no matter how hard everyone else trains, Chimchar is still better, but the way he got better was so terrible and horrific and they can see Chimchar is still angry and hurt and scared of his old trainer, but he's still better.

(I want to focus on one Pokemon in particular with this dynamic. One who the writers did a bit dirty near the end, but I love that Pokemon and I want to write him and Chimchar being besties and no one can stop me.)

It will be funny I hope. But also angst hell and Chimchar being a baby brother and loving everyone around him so strongly and showing them in every way he knows how and them loving him back.

Pokémon team anon. Since Amelia Fern is a new ro, I am giving her a team (one day I will do the other books, probably once they are longer). Let's see how well I do with very little info on her.

First up, I gave her a Fearow (the closest thing we have to a heron pokémon). This is because she is in the heron route, but also a nice little reminder that her family came from the cult.

Next came easily as a Luxray, for two reasons: one, it is an electric-type (super effective against flying-types) and a feline (a bird's natural predator) which symbolizes her hostility towards the cult rather well. And two, Luxray can see through anything, which is fitting for a reporter in search of the truth.

For the third, I knew I wanted Amelia to have a grass-type (fern) and settled on Gogoat. For one, Gogoat was introduced in the anime as belonging to a journalist, so that was only fitting. Second, it can tell how a person is feeling by how they grip its horns, helping it handle Amelia's strong emotions. And third, it plays off of her admiration of Nellie Bly, a woman most famous for travelling the world (Gogoat are used as a taxi service in Kalos) and an exposé on mental institutions (Gogoat's empathy via horn-touching matching Nellie's own empathy towards abused and neglected patients).

Afterwards, I decided to take inspiration from the Unova region (gen 5). This was because that region's legendaries represent truth and ideals, and the games had an interesting opposites motif, much like Amelia and MC can have.

With that said, her next pokémon, all from gen 5, are:

- Patrat, a cautious scout who is always on the lookout. Amelia's investigation buddy and the one watching out for any danger (and alerting her when MC is nearby). Rarely used during battles, which is why it has yet to evolve. Likes to ride on Amelia's shoulders to get a better view.

- Purrloin, an assole cat "but their victims can't help but forgive them." Has seen plenty of battles, it just refuses to evolve.

- And finally her sixth pokémon is none other than Vullaby. This is Amelia's darling baby girl and personal fuck you to the cult. Vullaby evolves at level 54 (quite late!) and while Amelia has been putting in the effort to train her vulture chick, it will still take a while before it evolves. (Also, Vullaby are always female, so a little connection to Amelia's girly girl side)

not a whole proper analysis post cause im too tired for it rn but quick thoughts on nemona's house as analyzed by me.

(disclaimer: we're running with the idea that this set up is meant to mean something, because we are actually allowed to go in her house unlike most other buildings despite it being easy to shut it off. suspend ur disbelief and say that everything in nemona's house is set that way for a reason)

Nemona's house is fairly symmetrical, save for the aysemtrical stained glass window design and the way the balcony flowers fall. Aesthetically symmentrical, not obsessive exact symetry.

Nemona's house features 4 house staff, two butlers and two maids. None of them have any dialouge referencing Nemona herself.

One talks about how they dust a lot and dont get how more keeps appearing, one talks about how the master and mistress are away at the moment, and the other two have simple bubble dialouge that just references cleaning

There are 6 pokemon in nemona's house, none of which are paldean introductions

3 pachirisu, gible, goomy, and chansey

I cannot find any reason for there to be a pachirsu in this house let alone 3. please help.

the gible and goomy both are pseudo legends and may mean to imply more about how nemona's family is powerful and rich. nemona also personally has a goomy she trains to fight you, but these are seperate pokemon. goomy is also notable as the weakest dragon pokemon (so says dex entry i think its rad)

chansey is heavily assosicated with medicine, curing illness and injury. it's also known for having good tasting eggs, but the paldea pokedex entires focus on the medical and speed aspects so I'll lean into the med thing.

where the pachrisu are at the table and the dragons together to the side, chansey is placed on the right hand side in the living room. On my inital playthrough i thought it was sigficant from a gameplay perspective (like a healing chansey or something) but no such thing. it is promenantly placed though, so i like to think it's relavent

(personal theory running that nemona's poor stamina / whatevers up with her arm is enough of a thing for there to be a live in chansey to help her out. even if not that bad, enough that her parents decided it was important, maybe for image reasons? rich family and all...)

there are 3 art pieces, an abstract greninja player doesn't recognize as a greninja, some fish player finds pretty, and two eevee playing entitled sibling love. the eevee depicted are male and female, and could potentiallyyyyyyy be really vague forshadowing about nemona's older sister. likely also just,,, rich people have fancy art.

there are doors on either end of the hall, unopenable. window blinds are drawn.

a long couch and two chairs in the centeral area on a large rug, coffee table in the middle. the entire house is rather white (the colour) though with some black cabinets

clicking on said cabniets nets you dialouge about how organized they are

connecting the above to nemona's really clean dorm room suggests that nemona's orderliness is something she gets from her family

there's a bookshelf? low shelf, books you can't interact with. not much else to say.

i need to review some of her early dialouge but nemona does not seem to have any strong opinions on her house, with the only notable thing being that she doesn't think it's notable enough to have the final rival battle there. i know its like,, the game wants u to fight in mezagosa, but also.... they did not have to offer that as a dialouge option, nor make nemona respond the way she did. you can take her statement that that beach isn;t all to interesting in her opinion at face value or not (a implication she'd like to avoid her house??? probably not??), either way.

exterior wise still fancy very pretty, the garden's got a circle thing going on, noticeably more pristine than players house. again contrasting player, the entire thing is much more organized but also... lacking customization and personality.

it does have a battle court in the back <3 and a beach. rich girlie.

Would it still be a good starting point now? i wont pick final fantasy bc my answer is literally the same as yours LOL so um... i will pick zelda. my first zelda game was botw and honestly that is an AWFUL starting point for getting into zelda JFKLJSDL bc its just so. fucking different from every zelda game out there. and also bc its a love letter to the franchise, that probably a million references flew over my head bc i didnt know what they were referencing. but yeah like its just absolutely awful to go from a game where you can freely jump to a game where you have to ROLL.

but at the same time i dont think botw is an awful starting point. bc like.... its a good game. its a good Modern game. like the older zelda games, especially the 3d titles, are extremely outdated. i dont think anyone should be playing those in this day and age when botw/totk is there to experience instead. while not ideal, i think its fine to hit it off with a modern switch title, then work your way down to older titles.

of course 2d zeldas are a different thing. dare i say, the superior thing. also i dont believe anyone should get into zelda. bad franchise. except when the games are good. all pondering aside the best starting point for zelda is ALBW, then MM3D. maybe some MINISH CAP as a treat. those are the only existing zelda titles. to me. but jokes aside if someone is really gonna have a 'starting point' for zelda games then its definitely BOTW/TOTK or ALBW. doesnt matter whether its a switch title or ALBW played first, but its very very very very important that ALBW is played as well.

thank u!!!!!!! oooh so i dont have much in the ways of plot figured out, but the main focus is definitely the galar kids because they’re my favorites ksjdksj.

i have something of a magic/weapons system figured out at least- something between a magical girl anime and the infernal arms in hades. in terms of that, for some reason im thinking of it from like a video game moveset perspective

the chosens (they’re technically gonna be called paladins in my au but eh i dont wanna figure that all out rn) all have weapons that correspond to their choosers and their own traits. special moves/status effects usually copy the powers of the chooser, and then the type of weapon itself will have more to do with the chosen.

then of course its not just weapons, the chosens also get some powers on their own and little physical changes. e.g.: hop (zacian’s chosen) gets sharp teeth and grows super tall, serena (xerneas) makes plants grow where she steps and has antlers, calem’s (yveltal) blood is poisonous and , barry (palkia) can put things and himself in his own pocket dimension, etc.

AND THEN HERES WHERE I HAD MY LITTLE STROKE OF GENIUS i made the chosen weapons work like infernal arms, where each chosen wielder of the chooser’s weapon has their own Aspect of it that can be channeled by other chosens via a waking phrase. these phrases know no bounds from time or space, and chosens from the future can be channeled by chosens from the past and vice versa. They can activate each other’s aspects in order to speak with each other.

my main examples that i have all figured out are Hop and Gloria channeling the original kings. they hold a very confused conversation and then they tell their tips for using each other’s aspect, as well as giving each other their best life advice

and (pre-game) Volo channeling (post-pla) Dawn’s aspect: they get into a screaming match and are of little help to each other. however, Dawn yells “FUCK YOU IM COMING TO STOP YOU MYSELF” and then her past self appears in hisui the next week. its all very trippy for Volo and giratina won’t stop laughing at him.

also some of the legendaries can disguise themselves as things other than their True Forms when they need to (i.e.: common pokemon or humans) Though Zacian, Zamazenta, and the Galarian Birds do mostly speak Old English and Professor Magnolia has to translate. She’s ecstatic her fluency finally gets to come in handy, though. Calyrex is the only one who can speak perfect english, but a drawback is that he can’t take any form other than slight variations of his True one (floating rabbit/rabbit riding a honse)

I also think the Kalos legends mostly speak in Old French as well, and there are a lot of calls to AZ to translate for them

And also the ultra recon squad members are all chosens of Ultra Beasts, but the ultra beasts don’t have as much power or sway over anything so they kind of just supply reasonably strong powerups to the company-issued weapons + companionship from a cool pokemon

aaaand thats all i can think of rn! if i come up with more/figure out the plot beyond what’s just swimming around my head rn, i’ll post it- knowing me it’ll probably be concept art or a joke comic teehee

OKAY im back to actual put thoughts to paper (well, blog)

So. the hc i work with most explicitly (because other fics have less focus on background at all) in "pick a god (and pray)" and the prequel I'm writing rn is the celestica -

weren't wiped out by colonizing forces and

their written language was based in the unown; but, crucially, is no longer spoken by anyone alive

and its the latter thats brought me to thinking more about the language itself, and the relationship between Volo and Cogita.

so first off, irt #1, in my hc background the celestica were split by internal conflict, and this is what brought Arceus to grief and caused it to retreat; in turn, they found Hisui growing more and more inhospitable due to lingering frenzy-rage causing the pokemon to be more aggressive into the days of PLA. But! They left Hisui to become a diaspora, and records can be found in the Sinjoh ruins, Blackthorn city (all hc remember) and farther still.

from "tell the stars (you've won)":

“By sea they traveled far and wide, seeking someplace to connect with him again. They spun their tales, studied others. They settled elsewhere. Sinjoh to Johto, to Kanto and Hoenn.... Maybe, by learning all they could about the world he created, they found more of him than anyone.”

And these are the places where the clans, and eventually Volo, came from.

And so when Volo comes to Hisui, he knows the words Celestica and Arceus, but finds the lands themselves renamed by the clans in translations of their old names passed down, distorted, butchered

and butchery isn't always malicious. recovering that which can be recovered is messy, but sustaining. yet... the celestica live on, in name only.

and it feels like a broken promise.

and he wants nothing more than to have someone to share whats remains.

and Cogita... her rejection shatters him. She refuses to allow him to be her inheritor, recognizing his fervor and obsession for the spite it stews in, and holds her culture just as close. its the only thing keeping her alive.

But. But.

Over the course of the series he finds people who... almost remember. Lucille, who still crafts and bestows the old blessings, clansmen who still bear the old names (shout out to that one post abt the npcs with time-related names!!)

He (and magpie) find records and make their own, they restore and preserve anything they can get their hands on so that someday

Someday.

Someone might get to experience this.

I get why fantasy authors would default to using, like, the same basic arrangement of seasons and weather and gravity that we have here in The Real World because they have to make up so much shit as it is and it IS probably good praxis to give your readers some familiar touchstones in your world so they can just focus on the plot, but. having said that. I think there should be more settings that have seventeen seasons, all of them different lengths, and constellations that don't have fixed patterns because sometimes they'll get pissy and just move to a different part of the sky, and sometimes the sun tells people things telepathically, and there's a type of weather where the air just gets really thick and difficult to walk through that's unpleasant but not any more uncommon than rain. it's called smärklf.

the worst part of my job (standing around at college orientations being Visibly Queer) is when parents nervously alter their entire walking trajectory to stay out of range as if I'm going to bite them and pass on my infectious homosexuality.

this is wildly eclipsed by the best part of my job, parents who are such wildly enthusiastic allies that their children seem a little embarrassed about it. I'm talking parents who eagerly point out my little rainbow-draped table and urge their kids to come over, parents who excitedly pick through my button box offering up the relevant pride flags and pronouns to their kids, parents who have detailed questions about harassment policies and gender affirming care while their kids are trying to wander away, parents who rush over with open arms and obvious glee on their faces knowing there's a space on campus dedicated to keeping their kids safe.

the ferocity with which these parents love and affirm their queer kids is so humbling and wonderful.

all goofing aside I genuinely don't understand the urge to reimagine Taylor Allison Swift as a secretly queer icon when the pop music scene(TM) is like. literally overflowing with women who actually like women. Gaga and Kesha and Miley and Halsey are right there. Rina Sawayama and Hayley Kiyoko and Rebecca Black and Kehlani and Victoria Monét and Miya Folick if you're willing to get slightly less top 100. Janelle and Demi for them nonbinary takes on liking girls. like what are we doing here. like I'm not even saying you can't enjoy Taylor but why would you hang all your little gay hopes on her.

I'm sick of people in this fandom who talk about babs like she's important disabled rep and then proceed to view her as like, a token character in a batman or robin-focused story. In fanon I see her personality often reduced to:

• disabled

• hacker

• girl

And sometimes, if people are feeling generous

• love interest

• can hit people (despite being in a wheelchair!1!!11!)

Which is kinda fucking stupid. Like, literally I see fics that include babs to literally only say she hacked something and is in a wheelchair, and then do not mention her again.

The thing about babs is that she's good rep because she's a complete character who also happens to be disabled and not a psa on disability disguised as a character. Meanwhile fanon people include her to make their fics feel more diverse while also clearly not caring about the character. It feels like people are trying to prove their morality through fanfic by collecting different "types" of characters like pokemon cards. I'm tired of it

I don't really have that much to add, you summed it up really well. In general people will always reduce characters to base traits in fanon, but in a lot of situations it's just annoying rather than harmful (like Tim, for example). But there's a kind of hypocrisy that comes along with that tendency in situations like what you're describing with a character like Babs- where they'll laud a character as being complex and good representation and then turn them into something flat and not representative of their actual canon self... it's always shitty.

The pokemon card analogy you used hits the point really well I think, it just feels very hollow the way she gets used sometimes. Like obviously every story ever isn't going to utilize every character in the best possible way- the batfam is big and things focused on a lot of them can get bloated fast and not go too deep into any one character. But the fact that it does feel overwhelming how often in fan content she'll exclusively be a support role rather than a focus is... telling.

Yooo, hi! Is it OK if I get a pokemon matchup like the last person did? It's super cute and I'm just like omg!! Lil pokemon!! The only games I've played are Sun/moon (and ultra moon) and sword/shield so I don't exactly know too much about pokemon. I'm a really quiet person, preferring nonverbal communication, but I'm also timid around people. I honestly feel like I'd be better with pokemon than actual people LMAO

My friends say I'm really caring and funny, i noticed that I'm usually a parental figure to people younger then me, but I'm not the best at caring for myself. I definitely do care too much for people/animals, even objects sometimes. I like water a lot, it's especially good for sensory issues so I find it really nice. I'm also into creepy things, it's been my special interest since I was a lil kiddo !

I guess it would be important to mention things like my bad memory and obliviousness to my surroundings. I focus too much on things rather than barely focusing at all. I'm also not active at all, I'm super low energy and I tire myself out a lot. My ways of showing affection are physical touch and quality time! I'm super touch starved tho </3 as most of us on this site are /j

I don't like traveling too much, going places im unfamiliar with is usually something I avoid. I also hate ovens, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY BUT IM LIKE- SO SCARED OF OVENS? Reaching in them freaks me out LMAO, same with heated metals.

I think the Pokémon best suited to you is Espeon! Psychic types are very helpful when it comes to trainers that struggle with communication. They can easily use their psychic abilities to find out how you're feeling and communicate that information telepathically to somebody for you. They're also amazing if you don't have a great memory. If you don't remember where you left something, they can search your brain for that memory and then guide you to your lost item. Aside from their impressive psychic abilities, they have very soft fur and love to cuddle.

Honorable mention: Ralts! They're also a friendly psychic type, although not quite as cuddly as Espeon.
