Pacers come from behind to defeat Bulls after 24-point lead

The Chicago Bulls fell to a fifth consecutive loss after blowing a 24-point lead against the Indiana Pacers, losing 117-113 in their latest NBA fixture. The Bulls had been looking to snap their losing streak and make a statement without the services of All-Star DeMar DeRozan, who was sidelined due to a Grade 1 quad strain. However, they ultimately suffered another second-half collapse as the Pacers rallied to snatch a dramatic victory. Chicago coach Billy Donovan called for more heart and focus from his team in crunch moments, urging his players to execute more precisely on both ends of the court. Without DeRozan, the Bulls needed someone to step up and play like an All-Star, and Zach LaVine did his best to fill the void. Buddy Hield was the main man responsible for Indiana's comeback, scoring 19 of his 27 points in the third period alone, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer. Despite the loss, the Bulls showed some encouraging signs in the game. Alex Caruso stepped in for DeRozan and played with the same defensive ferocity that has become his trademark, while the team's young players also made important contributions. Chicago forced 19 Pacers turnovers, with Caruso, Coby White, and Patrick Williams all recording multiple steals. The team also found their three-point shooting form, going 15-for-35 from beyond the arc. The Bulls will hope to regroup during the All-Star break after their game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.
