Lyrics
I see your face in the perfect sand. And with a kiss, I know I'm losing my way. I get a feeling I just can't explain… I'll be your candle in the pouring rain.
She take the one and left the chump behind. She left her heart on Hollywood & Baker. You call her "Poppy" but it's just a name… I'll be your candle in the pouring rain.
La La La La La La La
She take the one and left the chump behind. She left her heart on Hollywood & Baker. You call her "Poppy" but it's not her name We did it all, but was it all in vain?
La La La La La La La
I see your face in the perfect sand. And with a kiss, I know I'm losing my way. I get a feeling I just can't explain… I'll be your candle in the pouring rain.

Motorcycle Therapy : ep181
I turn my back on Floody and head for my motorcycle, but only make it about two steps before he tackles me to the ground. I manage to fall on my back, so I have a fighting chance, but he is doing his damnedest to whup my ass. Fortunately for both of us, we’ve both suffered from broken wrists and collar bones in the past 12 months, so the blows we are landing are about as deadly as a kindergarten schoolyard kerfuffle.
Floody lands a few haymakers and I manage to fight him off as best I can until I shout “Enough!” Then he helps me to my feet and lets me dust myself off.
It’s over as quickly as it began and I stumble over to the brick shithouse to gather up some tissue to stop the bleeding in my nose. When I come out of the bathroom Floody is riding away and he motions for me to follow him. I roll up the tissues like little tampons and jam them into my nostrils, then pull my helmet on a head east toward Station House Cafe.
It’s a solid thirty minute ride from the lighthouse to Station House Cafe, and my fucking wrist hurts. Plus I’ve got enough adrenaline pumping through my veins to kickstart a dead horse. Combining the adrenaline from the fight with the bloody nose, and the winding road, plus the anxiety of wondering if Floody will be waiting for me at Station House Cafe is too much, so I pull over to the side of the road and vomit down a gopher hole.
I have to ride the remaining twenty minutes with the visor cracked open, otherwise the smell of my vomit breath is just too overwhelming.
I turn the corner onto Shoreline Highway in Point Reyes Station, and Floody is standing next to the motorcycle in front of Station House Cafe. I pull up and park next to him.
We don’t even have to say a word. We’re cool. Sometimes you just need to blow off a little steam. Pick a fight with the wrong guy and you might end up in the hospital or jail. But scuffle with your best friend in a parking lot 40 miles from the closest other human being, and all is forgiven, and is forgotten.
Floody: You okay?
Me: I’m fine. You?
Floody: Do I have any blood on my face? I don’t want to freak the girls out.
Me: You’ve got two black eyes. You look like a racoon.
Floody: Dude, your nose is covered in dried blood.
Me: We’ve got to sneak past the evil hostess, and get to the restroom before Cheyenne sees us.
Floody: Okay, let’s go.
Flood pokes his head in the door, sees that the coast is clear, then we move quickly through the bar side of the cafe (it’s empty still, they only open the bar in the evenings) where we manage to find a couple of damp bar towels and furiously wipe the blood off of our faces before sneaking past the kitchen to the restroom where we both freshen up.
Me: How do I look?
Floody: You look like you were in a fight. How about me?
Me: You look like a tourist who got too close to the gorilla cage at the zoo.
Floody: We’re fucked.
Me: Yup.
Accepting our fate, we strut out of the bathroom and toward the sourpuss receptionist and ask for a table in Cheyenne’s section. She tries to play her “I can’t choose sections” routine on me but I’m not in the mood for her today.
Me: Don’t give me your jive ass bullshit today lady. Cheyenne is my girlfriend. Sit us in her damn section.
I wipe the back of my hand across my nose leaving a long trail of blood up my arm just to prove a point that I’m not in the mood to be fucked with today, and she quickly escorts us to a table in Cheyenne’s section.
Cheyenne is visibly shaken when she sees us.
Cheyenne: Oh my lord, what happened to you? Did you two get in a fist fight?
Me: Uhh, yes.
Cheyenne: With who?
Me: With each other.
Cheyenne: Honey, what the hell are you talking about? He’s your best friend.
Cheyenne is standing there with her mouth agape, shaking her head when Beri comes walking out of the kitchen.
Beri: Good lord, what the hell happened to you two?
Cheyenne: They got in a fist fight … with each other!
Beri: Does this have anything to do with Autumn being pregnant?
Floody: Call it “couples therapy.”
Beri: I’ll take that as a “yes.”

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cute request of hlc react to the room of requirement when MC introduces them to it?
and perhaps a little thing at the end of a party within that little gang? like MC introduced them all to the room bc they’re friends with all of them and wanted to bring everyone together in one bigger group??
HLC REACT TO THE ROOM OF REQUIREMENT
MC stands proudly in front of the blank wall on the 7th floor of the astronomy tower. As if the Room had the same sense of theatrics, the door appears just before MC's friends were about to question their sanity.
The stone becomes a grand wood and iron door and opens to the grandeur of the main hall. MC holds the door open and gives a flourished bow to invite their friends inside.
SEBASTIAN SALLOW: He thought he had MC beat on secrets. His jaw was slack as he spun around to take it all in. "Wha- you-" he struggles to find the words. He can hear bubbling cauldrons down a hall, he sees door after shiny glass door going somewhere, and on top it all, they had their own house elf?? "The whole time...the whole time? The whole time??"
OMINIS GAUNT: He stands in stunned silence. His wand shows him as much unique detail of the Room as it can within its range. By the hushed and not so hushed awe of the people around him, the Room was incredible. He's the first to turn to MC and ask directly. "How did you find this Room?"
ANNE SALLOW: She finds a comfy looking chair and sinks into it. A room away from the bustle of the castle, so peaceful. A tea set in front of her starts making tea on its own. She looks at all the books and tomes the Room had provided and sighed, she could get used to this.
IMELDA REYES: She sees a broom rack on a far wall holding all the brooms MC had collected in the travels. "So you're more of a flying aficionado than you let on. No wonder..." She trails off and continues to look about the Room. "What's in there?" She points to the lantern like vivarium while the ominous blue glow.
NATSAI ONAI: She walks through the first vivarium to the beautiful sunny meadow. A few puffskiens and mooncalfs curiously approach her, looking for treats. She takes a deep breath of fresh air and smiles broadly as an idea comes to her. The wide open space, guaranteed safety and privacy. This was the perfect place to stretch her legs. She transforms into a gazelle and takes off full speed across the plain.
GARRETH WEASLEY: He is distracted from the main room by the distinctive sound and smell of brewing potions. He makes a B-line down the hall to the side room with all of MC's brewing projects and plants. He nearly faints at the sight. All the equipment and ingredients he could only dream of having. He gives MC a teary eyed look. "Can I? Please?" He points to an unused station.
LEANDER PREWETT: He goes down into the garden area behind Garreth. He doesn't know where he's going, just wandering. His mother would be so jealous of MC's set up. The side room was full of plant stations, some growing things he couldn't even identify. He stands with his hands on his hips. "This is a lot. How does MC manage all of this?"
AMIT THAKKAR: He's been up and down the tower innumerable times and not once has there been a door on the seventh floor. "This is incredible! No wonder you caught up so quickly. You had a whole room to yourself for study." He starts wandering towards one of the vivariums.
EVERETT CLOPTON: He stands next to MC, taking in the Room from the entry way. He looked at MC expectantly when Ominis asked how they found the Room. His jaw slacked when they answered it was Professor Weasley. Sure, MC needed all the help they could get to catch up with the other fifth years but this was way more than anyone expected. "Do you think I could borrow this Room if I needed to catch up on an assignment?"
POPPY SWEETING: She knows a vivarium when she sees one, her gran has one. She bolts up the stairs to the mountain vivarium. Inside she sees unicorns and hippogriffs swooping over head she's almost brought to tears. Then a unicorn foal trots up to her, expecting something tasty, and she does cry a little. Then something red and gold lands next to her. A phoenix. She breaks down. This is too much majesty. Too much cute.
DEEK: "Deek's friend said they would bring company today. Deek had food and drink prepared for guests." He snaps his fingers and a banquet appears on the long dining table. "Deek hopes you enjoy yourselves. If anything is required, Deek is happy to provide." He gives MC a smile.
MC: They were so happy to bring all their friends together into one space. Especially one as incredible as the Room of Requirement. As they thought of how much fun it would be to have them use the Room too, everything started to shift. The whole room adjusted and new segments were added. MC calmed their alarmed friends. "This just sort of happens sometimes, don't worry about it." They walked around to see what was new.
Another vivarium was added, this one by a lake with lots of trees.
A private balcony to the outside with various telescopes.
The potion room had more space.
Another side room was added for lounging or dining.
Multiple new bookshelves appeared full of new reading material.
MC had work to do, now they could show off their transfiguration skills.

Ghost Rider Pacific Rim AU - bottle it up
“Oh Lord, he’s twelve,” Maria mutters under her breath. Carol elbows her in the side. “I didn’t know he was an actual child!”
“He’s nearly nineteen,” she says and immediately winces. Maria’s eyebrows travel all the way to her hairline. “Shut up.”
“Nearly nineteen? And you signed off on this?”
“We were both his age when we joined up.”
“Yeah, to a boot camp! Not to punch demons in the face!”
Carol refuses to sound like a middle-aged man defending his choice of a date. “Don’t make it weird.”
“It’s already weird!” Maria lowers her voice when Ivanov gives them an unimpressed look from across the control room. “It is! And even if he wasn’t barely legal, remember what happened with Spector?”
Carol smiles at Scott, who hates when people are whispering around him because God forbid anyone has a conversation that doesn’t directly involve him. Which is kind of a mean thing to think about a co-worker, but someone cleared out the fridge in the rangers’ quarters and Carol isn’t getting her yoghurts back until the next shipment comes in. Shatterdome catering isn’t big on dairy.
“Victoria said there are no indications in his scans,” she says as quietly as she can without actually whispering.
“Well, there are no indications Maximoff is a dick, and we all know the truth about that.”
“Maria!”
“Captains,” Ivanov clears his throat. “I see you are ready to join the discussion.”
“Aren’t you going to introduce the new guy?” Carol can hear Maria bite her tongue on ‘kid’. This is why she never comes along to the strategy meetings.
And this one is a lot more crowded than usual. Tony thinks they’re on the brink of seeing a Cat-5, so ever since the destruction of Horizon Bravo it’s all hands on deck, every time. They have a full complement of comm and monitoring officers at every available station, instead of the usual skeleton crew. With their newest addition comes Amadeus, even though he has a history of being kicked out for being disruptive. All the excitement of the last few days must have gotten to him, though, because he’s merely scrolling through the news feeds rather than actively winding up the Romeos.
Who are standing on opposite sides of the room and very obviously not on speaking terms. Great. Hopefully the prospect of hazing the new guy will unite them before go time.
“This is Robbie Reyes, joining us with Hell Charger,” Ivanov says. Reyes stands next to him like it’s taking his entire spine not to hide under the table. “Which is why we need to talk tactics, if you’re quite ready.”
The thing is, the Hong Kong jaegers got pretty good at figuring things out as they’ve gone along. They might not all have liked each other, but they were a good team. Only Qi and Qiao are no more, and the whole debacle with core replacements grounded the triplets for the second demon in a row. They can’t have a rotation, they don’t have enough firepower, and now they are getting a solo pilot who should, as the kids say, be at the club instead. Everyone around Carol is getting younger and more fragile by the second, and it’s starting to feel like she has an expiration date.
Or maybe she’s just grumpy because Clint hasn’t even tried to pretend he isn’t hiding something when they spoke. Or because she doesn’t like Tony messing with a tried and tested formula again, like every previous attempt didn’t end in tears. Or because Ivanov has always been so damn careful, it puts her on edge when he starts to take stupid risks like this. Or because she didn’t tell Maria exactly how young Reyes was, because she knows it’s too young and has no idea what to do about it-- Take a pick, apparently.
Maria silently squeezes her elbow.
“We are at T plus five hours, and the lookout confirmed the demon is heading west of the Breach.” Ivanov points to the screen showing air footage of a trail of bubbles on the surface of the ocean. The screen below is a heat signature – a big one. “Our readings show a category four, two and a half thousand feet. Special properties as of yet unknown, but Miss Grey is monitoring for any tells.”
Jean waves a hand from over her station. “The press already have a name, Razorback,” she says, never taking her eyes off the reports coming in. “A private underwater drone recorded an extended lumbar vertebrae.”
Pietro chuckles. “The devil works fast, but the press works faster.”
“That’s no way to refer to Miss Walters, Corporal.”
“Could really use Typhoon with this one,” Alex huffs in the general direction of the Weis. The triplets all shrug simultaneously – what can you do? Crimson Typhoon is one of the oldest jaegers still going, so it was naturally the first candidate for extensive repairs. “And now we have an experimental rookie to watch out for.”
“He has you beat at sim scores, Summers B,” Amadeus points out. “Although I guess that’s not hard.”
To his credit, Alex doesn’t lose his temper immediately. “Who invited the nerd again?”
“He’s here to monitor Hell Charger’s output,” Ivanov says.
“And Major Brooks’s recommendation is that Mr Reyes stands back to guard the Miracle Mile while Coyote Tango, Romeo Blue and Eden Assassin take on the demon.” Uh oh, Amadeus is using proper titles. “So this last-minute switch-up nonsense puzzles me a little, Colonel.”
“Merely a proposal. Put forward by Corporal Maximoff, to give proper credit.”
“As a joke,” Wanda cuts in. Pietro doesn’t deny it, which means it probably wasn't and he’s using his sister to get out of having to admit it's a terrible idea. “Assassin doesn’t do well with small targets.”
Ivanov wasn’t really going to put them on beastie defence, was he? Stuck between the Colonel and Cho, Reyes seems to alternate between wanting to shrink and puff up. With that eye still bruised – it’s really taking an awful long to heal – he looks like someone beat him up behind the bleachers. When Carol glances at Maria, she can already tell what’s on her mind. “No,” she hisses.
“What? I didn’t say anything.”
Ivanov is clearly sick of the chatting. “Do you have a suggestion, Captain Danvers?”
Carol shoots Maria one last look before turning to the Colonel. “Just that we should stick with Eric’s plan. Hell Charger is still largely untested.” And you can’t hit the kill switch outside of a five hundred mile radius, but she’s not going to be the one to mention it out loud. “I’ve seen Reyes wipe the floor with the recruits, I’m sure he can handle the vermin.”
Oh god, is he blushing? Carol just knows the next family dinner will have a new guest. And when Maria hears about the baby brother, too...
Jean raises her hand to get everyone’s attention. “It’s emerging,” she says. “Changed course towards Taipei. Fourteen hours until contact, Khatyrka confirms they are standing back.”
“We better get ahead of it, then.” Fourteen hours always sounds longer than it really is when you account for final checks and transport times. “Eden Assassin on point, us and Romeo Blue on flanks?”
Maybe because they have a rookie on board, or maybe to get it all over with, for once nobody tries to argue just for the sake of it. Ivanov brings up the map of the Philippine Sea onto the table screen to pin locations down and each team’s respective air support officer descends around it to sort out the logistics.
As the rangers start filing out to get their kit going, Carol can’t help but notice that Reyes seems to be meeting his ASO for the first time. She stays back to watch him for a moment – she can’t imagine getting into a jaeger on her own. It’s better that he’s nervous rather than cocky–
Then, Ivanov puts a hand on the kid’s shoulder, and just for a moment his expression changes from mildly confused to positively murderous.

Quick info dump about my ANGR Firefighter AU for Robbie
● Certain points from Vengeance Drives for Uber by @rokhal will be included, including but not limited to Guero being wheelchair bound, Alex Northwick's death (with a slight tweak being Robbie didn't dispose of his body into Hell), Vengeance's skirmish with Robbie, the ending rescue of the bus and Forerunner incident.
● The main antagonists will be Muse of course but also, Marco Miranda a corrupt and racist cop who will continuously harass Robbie for having Grumpy's car and John Orr (real person worth a quick Google if you have time) an arsonist Fire Chief & Arson Investigator in Robbie's district who begins burning places close to the Reyes Residence and places of importance to Robbie, leading up John lighting fire to the scrap yard while Robbie is inside, just to name the ones I've fleshed out so far. Vengeance will make a minor appearance as he'll be in LAPD custody and Robbie will assist in him getting escorted to a S.H.I.E.L.D. Facility.
● Robbie, Lisa and Gabe will all work in the same station. Robbie will be a Firefighter III and EMT (since LAFD requires Firefighters to hold a level of medical as well), Lisa will be a paramedic, and Gabe will act as a secretary as sorts.
● Alex Northwick's death will lead to Cecilia Reyes "Forcefield" from the X-men to take his spot. I may work in them being related, but probably not. I'll leave that up to feedback.
● Robbie will have moved from Hillrock Heights to Boyle Heights, using the Agents of Shield locations as points of reference. He will still work for Canelo during some of his time off from the station and take up a job at El Monte Junk and Salvage as Canelo owns it too, and it's close to home. This move will but Robbie closer to the Angeles National Forest and a block away from Evergreen Cementary (where Eli was buried)
● Gabe will be starting high school at this point in the timeline and will be dating Charlene Ocampo (see Ghost Rider Valentines Day Special)
● Robbie will be assigned to Engine. He will baby/clean/maintain the apparatus as he does the Hell Charger. With being assigned to Engine will mean he'll be going in fires and have to do his best to act "human" and not go into situations his powers would protect him from.
● Background characters will be pulled from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., 9-1-1 and the Dick Wolf universe.
I'm open to suggestions from all my Ghost Rider mutuals as well as anyone who mignt be able to help flesh out the story @wazzappp @belushiii @cicada-candy @moosemonstrous @rokhal

Annabelle Pham was born in San Jose, California and raised in an Asian immigrant household in South San Francisco. Growing up working class, her parents encouraged her to pursue her education while also helping raise her sickly younger brother, RJ. Playing softball and being a bit of a rebel, despite her shortcomings, Annabelle had the opportunity to attend an Ivy league college on a partial scholarship, which she rejected after her father's restaurant was vandalized and robbed.
Rather than use the money for school, she pushed her family to use it to repair their restaurant. Annabelle would choose to attend a 2 year college in a CTE program since it was more affordable, working part time in her family's restaurant while she searched for new employment.
While job searching, she became curious about the recruiters office in her neighborhood, and next thing she knew, she was in the army (much to her mother and father's disappointment.)
At some point, then Private Annabelle "Kit" Pham would meet CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell while fighting alongside SAC/SOG officer Alex Keller. Impressed by the young woman's resolve and improvisation, Laswell would choose Anna as one of the three women she'd first suggest to join Taskforce 141 to John Price.
While hiding from enemy forces who'd kidnapped her in a foreign city, Annabelle's quick thinking kept her alive while her teammates were delayed on their rescue.
Anna got her callsign "Gremlin" from her unpredictable and unhinged behavior thanks to her fellow Sergeant Kyle "Gaz" Garrick. Hiding in walls, crawling in vents and ambushing enemies easily thanks to her small stature and the old fashioned element of surprise.
Smart, resourceful and good with her hands, she's a loyal friend and a cautious person whose instincts are good if they aren't clouded by her own feelings. Anna is a hopeless romantic who wears her heart on her sleeve, which can be a good and a bad thing...Especially when a certain Commander seeks to exploit it.

The new Mercy Sigma interaction is actually hilarious because apparently no one around Angela Ziegler stays dead
Ana Amari and Jack Morrison? They’re wandering into her apartment looking for health packs. “Guys stop running your vigilante operations out of house, I don’t agree with your actions” “Yeah, yeah, where’s your tea?”
Gabriel Reyes? Apparently unblew up and now he’s a wraith that keeps trying to kill your other old friends
That one guy who she had coffee with once? She heard about the space station incident, that was tragic, she remembered they had a lovely conversation. So whY IS HE HERE IN THE MISSION PREP AREA TALKING TO ME LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED?!?!??
At this point “Heroes never die” is less of an encouraging mantra and more of a begrudging realization

biography
Calypso was born ten minutes after Finn, and he has never let it down. Growing up, she always relied on Finn for everything. From walking to the school bus to paying for her items at the corner store, he was always there for her and she didn’t mind. His voice was hers with her hand grasping for his and following in little steps close behind. It wasn’t until middle school where she found her voice, a stern attitude at that. A young girl was getting bullied and she stepped in. Little did she know that that girl, Emilie, ended up becoming her best friend. Even then, she struggled: fighting with generational demons gifted by her alcoholic parents and grappling with the fact that her mother berated her to the point of self mutilation. Her appetite to survive and preservation in thriving ran deep. Every chance she got, she would hang out with her parent’s best friend’s kids. She become close friends with their two kids. Soon, she found herself dragging Finn to the Shepard’s every weekend, and they didn’t seem to mind as they welcomed them with open arms. Little did they know, she was using them to avoid her mother up until she entered college. As she entered her junior year in college, her best friend got cancered and didn't survive. A year later, the outbreak happened. Finn and she found their parents already turned when they got home after protecting the apartments, resulting in having to end them herself. Because of her actions, Cleo became gravely ill, leaving the twins to stay stationed in the confides of their home until another solution appeared before them: finding sanctuary within their limits, San Francisco, California.
personality
Cleo will punch you in the face if you use her real name. Certain people are able to use it. The only reason people know her real name is because Finn accidentally said it during a fight and she didn’t talk to him for a whole month. Granted, it was hard for her. She just doesn’t know how to talk about her feelings, so she takes a lot of time to sort out how she’s really feelings. She doesn’t trust people easily, but she trusts action so if she sees you attempting to do what you say, she will crack the door open to communicate. When someone breaks down her walls, she is a completely different person, she can actually hold a conversation, or be considerate and think of the needs of others before herself. She is information seeking, all the time, because she feels knowing more makes you a better person, which is all she wants to be at the end of the day.

A Complete 180 : ep180
Kudos to Beri. Her April Fools stunt brought Cheyenne and I together, and now her Nepenthe surprise has coerced Cheyenne into joining us in Europe.
Cheyenne’s change of heart about the summer Mediterranean trip is good for everybody. It’s good for Beri, because she’ll have her best girlfriend at her wedding. It’s good for Henrik, because he’ll have a happy bride. It’s good for Me, because Floody and Autumn won’t have to treat me as the fifth wheel. But ultimately, it’s good for Cheyenne.
On Sunday afternoon as we are on her porch and I’m kissing her goodbye for the week Cheyenne tells me “It’s going to be tough once school starts in the fall. This trip will give me a chance to relax and reset. I think it’ll actually be good for me.”
I agree. Her head will be in the right place when school starts. Plus … it’s going to be an awesome vacation.
Wednesday morning I’m practicing foam art in my cappuccino when the front door swings open. It’s Floody. His bandages are gone and he’s looking human(ish) again. My foam art experiment isn’t going too well. The attempted fern leaf looks like big flappy labia.
Floody: Looks tasty!
He fishes the Nutella out of the cupboard then pushes me aside so he can make his signature breakfast of champions “Kurt Vonnegut” drink.
Me: What brings you to Point Reyes Station on a Wednesday morning amigo?
Floody: This pregnancy is doing my head in, and I just need to talk a few things out.
Me: Are you excited?
Floody: I am.
Me: Are you going to raise kids in the city or move out to the ‘burbs like me?
Floody: We’ll stay in the city. San Fran still has a small neighborhood feel, even though it’s a big city.
Me: Autumn will be a great mom.
Floody: Absolutely. But that’s why I’m here. If I’m going to be a dad, I have to make some changes.
Me: Such as?
Floody: Well, just growing up myself. I just killed the Ducati. I was thinking about taking a break from motorcycling for a bit and holding off on buying another one.
Me: Have you ridden since your crash?
Floody: No.
Me: Go get your shit on, we’re going for a ride.
Floody: No see, that’s the whole point. There’s a baby growing inside of Autumn and I think to be a good dad, I should probably be a little more responsible.
Me: Get. Your. Shit. On. We’re going for a ride. They repaved the road all the way out to Point Reyes.
I grab the coffee cup out of his hands and pour it into the sink before storming angrily out of the kitchen and toward the garage. By the time Floody has his helmet on, I’ve got my superbike out of the garage alongside the scrambler, both idling and ready to roll.
Me: Choose your weapon.
Floody: First time back, I’ll take the scrambler.
Me: Wrong. Choose again.
Floody: Dude, I don’t think my wrists can take the superbike yet. I’ll take the scrambler.
Me: You’re taking the Panigale.
Floody: Calm the fuck down man. I get what you’re trying to do.
Me: No you don’t.
I jump on the scrambler and tear out of the driveway at full throttle. He doesn’t like to follow me, his Dangerous Dave personality is far too alpha for that, so I run the stop sign at the gas station and force him to give chase illegally.
Steve Prefontaine once said of running “The best pace is a suicide pace, and today looks like a good day to die.” How apropos.
I’m pushing the little scrambler as hard as I can. The speedometer says 120 when we pass through the 25mph zone in Inverness. I can see Floody flashing his headlights at me to slow down but I ignore him.
What was once Mr Toad’s Wild Ride, is now a repaved masterpiece. A twenty mile strip of twisted ribbon tarmac from the intersection of Pierce Point all the way to Point Reyes. I’m pushing so hard, that there is a VERY high probability that I’ll die from a deer or elk strike. But I don’t care. If this is going to be my last ride ever, I’m going to the bitter edge of sanity. I’m going to see what this motorcycle is made of. I’m going to see what I’m made of. But, most importantly, I’m going to show Floody what he’s made of.
Riding out to Point Reyes is like driving straight out into the Pacific Ocean. Halfway to the point the fog rolls in and the temperatures drop about 30 degrees. It’s bone chilling and the sightlines are terrible.
I enter a flow state. At this pace, my brain abandons any spare thoughts. I’m no longer trying to teach him a lesson, or prove a point. I’m just trying to stay alive and all processing power is directed toward perfectly apexed corners and full throttle accelerations between corners.
30 minutes after it begins, the insanity ends in the parking lot at Point Reyes. Floody rips off his helmet and begins yelling at me.
Floody: ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?!
Me: What’s your name?
Floody: What?
Me: I said, what’s your fucking name?
Floody: You know my name!
Me: You’re goddamn right I do Asshole! But I want to hear you say it.
Floody: My name is David Flood.
I lift up Flood by the collar of his jacket and I’m screaming at him at the top of my lungs.
Me: YOU ARE DANGEROUS DAVE! THAT IS WHO YOU ARE! IF YOU GIVE THAT UP, YOU’RE NOTHING! YOU’LL BE A MISERABLE SHELL OF YOUR FORMER SELF AND IN TWO YEARS AUTUMN WILL BREAK UP WITH YOU AND SHE’LL RAISE YOUR CHILD ALONE! … Now, I’m going to ask you again “What is your name” and if you answer anything other than “Dangerous Dave” this parking lot is going to turn into a crime scene. Understand?
Floody nods his head and I let him go.
Me: Now get on your bike. I’ll buy you breakfast at Station House. Shy is working this morning.

Notes; a Sebastian Sallow Romance One-Shot
Tumblr media
A/N: This is another Sebastian Sallow romance one-shot with my OC, Séance. Feel free to imagine yourself or your MC in her place, I don’t mind. I simply don’t like writing “y/n” stories as much. All students have been aged up so they’re adults, since I’m in my 20s and don’t feel comfortable writing romance about minors. I wrote this in one sitting and I really hope you enjoy it! The feedback I got on my last story meant the world to me. It’s been years since I’ve written like this, and I feel like I have a purpose lately because of it so thank you for reading.
If you have plot requests for more one-shots involving Sebastian, Ominis, and/or Imelda, feel free to send them to my inbox! 😊
Summary: Professor Sharp has a reputation for humiliating students who are caught passing notes in his class. Today, these unlucky students are Sebastian Sallow and Imelda Reyes. Séance and Sebastian’s friendship has been rocky as of late and watching him spend more time with Imelda has her jealousy at an all-time high. It turns out that not everything is as it seems.

The quadruple potion station sprawled between Séance and Sebastian. He used to claim the cauldron beside her, but that had changed in recent weeks. The girl watched unsatisfactorily as Imelda laughed at something Sebastian said, and she felt her ire grow. They were leaning awfully close to each other yet again today, and Séance found herself grinding her teeth in irritation. Knowing that she had no right to be jealous somehow didn’t make her feel any less so.
“Is everything alright?” Ominis asked from the station next to hers, and she wondered if he had heard her teeth scraping against each other, so she stopped doing so immediately.
“Yes, everything’s fine, Ominis. Thank you for asking.” She replied, still watching Sebastian and Imelda out of the corner of her eye.
The entire thing was driving her mad. Her and Sebastian had gotten much closer, almost to the point where Séance had believed that they would finally develop a romantic relationship. It was something she’d wanted for the three years she’d known him, and she’d almost had it. At least until Sebastian had suddenly decided to pull back, distancing himself both physically and emotionally. In favor of Imelda, it seemed.
Séance couldn’t blame him; not really. Imelda was witty, driven, and ridiculously beautiful. She imagined that most men would take interest in the woman, though she had never imagined it would be Sebastian developing feelings for her.
Professor Sharp started to talk, educating them on a new potion that required toad warts, cat fur, and a troll eyeball.
Sebastian’s hand slid toward Imelda, obviously concealing something. Imelda tried to inconspicuously pick it up, but Séance caught a flash of it: a piece of paper.
Séance felt her eye twitch as she began to chew on her lower lip because it was much quieter than grinding her teeth. She remembered when Sebastian used to pass her notes, and now he was passing them to Imelda instead. She felt her heart drop and the sting of betrayal churn in her stomach.
This pattern repeated throughout the class, the pair growing sloppier with each note pass until they finally made the mistake of exchanging the paper in front of Professor Sharp, who loomed above them. The professor stopped his instruction.
“Oh, for me?” Professor Sharp asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he held his hand out in a silent demand for the piece of parchment. “How thoughtful of you.”
Both Sebastian and Imelda’s eyes became the size of saucers as they looked at each other, then up at the professor. Séance watched as Sebastian’s hand closed around the note protectively, and he made no move to place it into Sharp’s anticipant palm. Séance cringed, frowning as she observed the ordeal. She even felt bad for them. Everyone knew not to pass notes in Sharp’s class, because word had gotten around about what happened when a student was caught doing so.
“What’s going on?” Ominis whispered, leaning over to Séance's side.
“Sebastian and Imelda got caught passing notes.” Séance murmured back, careful to speak quietly enough that Sharp wouldn’t overhear.
“Oh, no.” Ominis said emphatically, eyes wide in horror.
“I know.” Séance said in agreement.
“Mr. Sallow?” The professor barked, a thick brow raising expectantly.
“May I please just take detention, Professor Sharp?” Sebastian asked desperately, a hopeful expression on his face as he dragged the note closer to his body.
Séance smirked, wondering what Sebastian had written that was so bad he didn’t want Professor Sharp to read it. Maybe he had been complaining about how boring he found the class or discussing forbidden spells; both things he had written in notes to her before.
“Yes, please just give us detention instead.” Imelda chimed in.
“Absolutely not.” The professor said, his voice final. “Now hand it over.”
Sebastian’s expression twisted into a grimace, almost as if he had been impaled. He reached up slowly and dropped the note into Sharp’s open hand. His brown eyes flickered over to meet Séance’s gaze before he quickly looked down at his cauldron instead, cheeks red as a rose.
Although Séance wished Sebastian wasn’t experiencing such a humiliating event, she was curious to find out what him and Imelda had been gossiping about.
“Ah, I’d recognize this horrific handwriting anywhere, Mr. Sallow.” Sharp commented. Sebastian looked like a dog who had been bopped on the nose in response. “And the neater hand belongs to Ms. Reyes here. Let’s see what was so urgent it couldn’t wait until after my class.”
Professor Sharp unwrinkled the note as much as possible and then cleared his throat, “Mr. Sallow: ‘So when are you going to ask Poppy to go out with you?’”
“Oooooooh!” Several students exclaimed in unison. Imelda crossed her arms on the desk and hid her blushing face in them, but her ears remained visible and were bright scarlet.
“Ms. Reyes: I’ll ask Poppy when you ask Séance.”
“What?” Séance began to choke, having swallowed at the exact wrong moment as she heard this information. All her classmates turned to look at her, other than Imelda and Sebastian. His eyes were firmly glued to the tabletop in front of him as he clenched the edge of it so hard the veins in his forearms and hands were bulging. She felt her face heat up and knew her cheeks were just as crimson as Sebastian’s.
Sharp continued, “Mr. Sallow: ‘That’s not fair, you know why I can’t do that.’ Ms. Reyes: ‘Because you’re a wimp?’”
The class laughed, and even the professor looked as if he found the situation humorous. “Mr. Sallow: ‘Ha-Ha, very funny. No, it’s because I don’t want to ruin our friendship. What if she doesn’t like me that way, or worse; what if we break up and can’t be friends anymore after that? She matters too much for me to risk everything.’”
The professor's tone was so flat as he read the heartfelt words that it caused snickering throughout the classroom.
Séance watched Sebastian looking increasingly embarrassed as her heart pounded away in her chest. So, she wasn’t crazy after all, she mused. There was something between them, and she’d misread the situation with Imelda entirely. Sebastian’s dark eyes met Séance’s, causing her knees to feel weak. He looked mortified, but also as if he was trying to scrutinize how she felt about what she’d heard.
“Ms. Reyes: ‘I could say the same thing about Poppy. I’ve loved her for three years, for Merlin’s sake. But sometimes you’ve got to take a risk.’”
Séance glanced over to Poppy, whose entire face was so red that it appeared as if she’d been hanging upside-down for half an hour. She wasn’t looking at anyone, and appeared as if she were just trying to survive the next few minutes.
“Ah, sadly it ends there.” Professor Sharp stated, “I suppose we’ll have to go back to my tiresome class once again. Oh, and that’s fifty points from Slytherin.” He added.
The other Slytherins in the class groaned, muttering choice words for Sebastian and Imelda.
Once the Professor was done with his instruction, and it was time for the students to brew their potions, Ominis leaned over to her once again.
“Well, that was quite something.” He said, “I don’t think Sebastian was planning to tell you how he felt for a while, if ever.”
“Wait, you knew?” Séance asked, putting an emphasis on the word.
“Of course I knew.” Ominis replied, smirking. “He’s my best friend. Besides, he can’t hide anything from me even when he wants to. I know him too well.” The man straightened up a bit, blank gaze directed past Séance. “Hello, Sebastian.” He greeted.
Séance froze, eyes widening as she felt Sebastian’s presence behind her.
“Hi, Ominis.” Sebastian responded, his hand resting next to Séance on top of the potion-brewing station.
He was so close she could feel his warmth behind her, and the rich scent that was uniquely him gave her a weird kind of high; pine, citrus, vanilla, and a hint of woodsmoke.
“I came to see if I could borrow a troll eye.” He said, moving his hand away from the table. “I’m  out.”
Séance saw there was now a piece of paper where there hadn’t been one before Sebastian arrived, and she put her forearm flat over the little white note to conceal it.
“Of course,” Ominis said, handing him the proper jar. “I’ve already used one, so just bring the jar back once you’re finished.”
“Thank you.” Sebastian said, returning to his cauldron.
Séance moved her arm just enough to peek down and read the messy handwriting there: “Meet me in the Undercroft after class.” Was all that was written.
Anticipation fluttered in Séance’s stomach, only increasing as the minutes continued to tick past and their meeting grew closer. The rest of the period went by in a blur, with Sebastian refusing to look Séance’s way again. Once the bells finally began to ring, Séance saw Poppy approach Imelda with a shy smile on her lips and it caused her to grin as well. She hoped their talk turned out happy for both women.
Séance made her way to the Defence Against the Dark Arts tower, quick footsteps carrying her down several flights of stairs until she ducked behind a staircase and entered the secret room. She found Sebastian standing there, awaiting her arrival.
“Hi.” He said, posture stiff and expression awkward. “Thank you for coming. I figured we ought to talk.”
“Of course.” Séance replied, nervously wringing her hands. “I agree, we should probably discuss this.”
There was an uncomfortable stretch of silence as neither one of them wanted to be the first to bring up what had happened. Finally, Séance took a deep breath, deciding that he’d already been embarrassed enough today and it was only fair that she speak first.
“I didn’t know you had feelings for me,” She began, “Especially since you distanced yourself the last few weeks. I thought I’d done something to push you away, or you lost interest in me even if you once had those feelings.”
He finally looked at her, chocolate eyes meeting hers. “I’m sorry.” He told her. “I shouldn’t have done that. Things were…” He searched for a way to phrase things, “heating up, for lack of a better term, and I got concerned and backed off. I fuck things up, Séance, it’s what I do. I didn’t want our relationship to be just another casualty in my long list of screw-ups. I care about you. As cliché as it sounds, you make me a better man. You believe in me even when I fail to make appropriate choices. I’ve never had that with anyone.”
Sebastian stepped closer to her, cupping her hand gently between his. “But I’m done running. I was too much of a coward to tell you how I felt myself, so I’m happy Professor Sharp read my note today. Now everyone knows how I feel about you, and I want them to. I want you to.” He closed his eyes, inhaling slowly before looking down at her once more. “The real question is, do you still feel the same way, even after everything?” He asked quietly.
“I do.” Séance told him. “I always have.”
He smiled broadly, arms sliding around her waist as he pulled her against him. “Does that mean it’s okay if I-” Sebastian began, but Séance quickly cut him off.
“Yes.”
He dipped his head in response, his hand rising to her jaw as his lips touched hers for the first time. They both felt their chests heave with excitement and passion as they deepened the kiss. Sebastian gently bit her lower lip and she gasped lightly, parting her lips enough to grant him access. His tongue caressed hers as his slender fingers weaved through her long raven hair, holding her face firmly to his. Séance’s fingers worked to unzip his robe and pull it down and off his shoulders, her hands gliding underneath the fabric of his shirt to rest on his bare chest. She could feel his heart hammering swiftly as they kissed, and she stroked the muscles of his chest and shoulders.
He broke their kiss, staring into her eyes as he breathed rapidly. “Do you want me to take my shirt off?” Sebastian asked.
In answer she tugged the hem of his shirt up and he did the rest, pulling on the collar until it was up and over his head. It was the sexiest thing Séance had ever watched someone do, seeing the way his body moved as he stripped for her.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” She said, unable to tear her eyes away from his powerful chest, broad shoulders, and toned abdomen.
“What?” He inquired, awkwardly mussing up the back of his hair. “Is there something wrong?”
“You look like that under those robes?” She asked incredulously.
He chuckled. “The evidence speaks for itself. Why, do you like what you see?” Sebastian asked flirtatiously, tugging her waist to pull her toward him.
“Uh yeah, ‘like’ would be an understatement.” She admitted, fingers trailing down the individual muscles of his abdomen.
Séance finally looked up at him and saw that he was watching her with hungry eyes. Sebastian’s arms wrapped around her and he leaned in, kissing her lips once more. The man bent down to grab the back of her thighs and hoist her up onto a table nearby. Her fingers pushed into his hair as they continued kissing, long legs wrapping around his hips and pulling him in tighter against her.
Sebastian pulled back half an inch, stroking her cheek with his thumb as he grinned.
“I’m so glad I passed those notes.”
