Pillars of eternity is the example of a perfect rpg without romance (Poe 1 didn't have them, poe2 had them but they were literally 5 minutes each so it's like there weren't romances) and the plot was so good that it didn't require romances to fill a void (bg3 is a great game and the main story isn't that bad but like. Romances do add a lot to it and at least for me it wouldn't be that good without them) but avowed......... I still don't feel like it will be good enough to not make me miss romances to make up for the rest tbh I truly hope I'm wrong but eh

I absolutely hate the fact that we get separated at the end of the game, because  developers weren't going to bring him back for a potential poe3. But, I think, we will never see poe3, so no one will stop me from headcanoning that they stayed together.

Games don't need to justify their game status. This is something that I have noticed espeically with RPGs where you play one character across multiple games in a series.(Pillars of eternity 1-2 for example)A complaint I have seen or reason for why we won't get a PoE3 to be a direct sequel is that people would see the watcher (the MC) start at level 1 again as contrived and forced.And I am sorry that is just dumb?A game doesn't need to justify its gamestatus to you.In an CRPG where you can havethe background of mercenary or soldier, why do you start with 1 skill or below average fighting prowess?Why do you gain the skill equivalent to a weapons master / champion in the in game time that is less than 1-2 months?An RPG doesn't need to justify gameplay resons for why you are weaker or stronger or whatever, because it inherently makes no sense to begin with.So if an RPG gets a sequel, it doesn't need to explain why the MC starts at level 1 again, because gameplay wise, it made no sense that they started at level 1 to begin with!Does that make sense?And this goes for any other game.Obviously games will have to muck around with realism and logic to make it work smoothly as a game, that is just how games work.So pointing out that mit makes no sense is inherently pointless.Because it is a sacrifice you do to make the game work as a game.:P Submitted July 02, 2024 at 04:49PM by Tnecniw https://ift.tt/cHvdZgz via /r/gaming

actually tho not a single week goes by where im not thinking about the implications of the poe2 ending. like. the gods essentially mass recalling their godlikes to consume as emergency power reserves um......... ? and NOBODY is talking abt avowed which makes sense bc we know like minus 3 abt the game so far but oh bröther im so fucking ready. i need more information abt this current development bc i simply havent known peace since it dropped

If they make Pillars of Eternity 3 because you've convinced enough people to buy the first two, I'm going to compose an epic poem dedicated to your feat. I'm excited for Avowed, but I also want PoE3...

JHDFHJDFHJFD i think theres a lot of crossover between pillars and dragon age so i dont know if that has anything to do with it i am hoping and praying for PoE 3... if the devs are excited/interested in making it of course!!! i am tentatively hopeful we might see something after avowed (which i am also excited for!)

Rpg game devs were just having a crisis of faith in 2018. BOTH dos2 and poe deadfire in the same yr being like 'the gods are selfish beings who use us as batteries for their power, we must do away with them and forge our own destiny'
