Speaking of which! (NDTV article):
New Delhi is preparing a grand welcome for all the South Asian leaders who will attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony on Sunday. PM Modi will take oath for a record third term on Sunday, and several heads of state will attend the ceremony, including Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu.
Relations between India and Maldives have deteriorated since Muizzu assumed office in November last year. During his election campaign, he often criticised India and demanded a complete withdrawal of Indian military personnel.
All Indian armed forces have left the nation and have now been replaced by civilians.
But India extended an olive branch inviting him to the swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi. President Muizzu expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for the invitation, adding that he would be honoured to attend this historic event.
"He also stated that he looks forward to working with the Prime Minister to further strengthen the close relations with India, noting that Maldives-India relations are heading in the positive direction, as would be demonstrated by this visit," the official release said.
This will mark the pro-China president's first official visit to India since assuming office on November 17 last year. Unlike his predecessors, who made the first port of call to New Delhi after assuming office, Muizzu had travelled to Turkey first and to China for his first state visit in January.
Ahead of his arrival in Delhi, a huge banner has been put up outside the Foreign Ministry which features both PM Modi and Muizzu.

Hasina flees Bangladesh bleeds. What awaits Delhi? Top takeaways
A man proudly climbs atop the statue of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman – Bangabandhu, the founding father of Bangladesh and urinates on his head. While others bring down his statue with bricks and bats. Museums were ransacked and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s official residence ‘Ganabhaban’ was stormed. Protesters walked out with conquests – stolen furniture, her saree and inner garments. These were visuals from a Bangladesh that fell into the lap of anarchy after months of protests peaked to end Hasina’s 15-year rule and forced her to abruptly fly out of Dhaka. One of India’s friendly neighbours, Bangladesh shares a long history with the country and finds common ground in language, culture and cuisine with West Bengal across the border. Now its future is uncertain. Sheikh Hasina recently visited India to attend PM Modi’s swearing-in ceremony and had acknowledged Dhaka’s good ties with Delhi when she became the Prime Minister for the fourth time in January this year after her party, the Awami League, won the general elections boycotted by much of the opposition over allegations of rigging. As the bloody crisis continues to swell, it’s pertinent to understand Delhi’s approach to the developments. BANGLADESH NEW REGIME DOES NOT WANT CONFRONTATION WITH INDIA What’s getting many anxious is the anticipation that the new government after Hasina might be anti-India or anti-Hindu. Even as Hasina faced allegations of widespread corruption, she could, to a large extent, control the communal elements. With her gone, the thought of an extremist regime got many worried. But Dhaka has assured that attacks on Hindus will be controlled and, as per a report today, such instances have been broadly controlled. Bangladesh is volatile, but the army is in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs in India. EAM Jaishankar also assured in Parliament that the Indian government is in touch with the Bangladesh Army in light of the recent developments. BANGLADESH STILL NEEDS ECONOMIC AID AND SUPPORT FROM INDIA Even as anti-India protests erupted in Dhaka months before and is still a dominant sentiment across the protest-engulfed country, Dhaka still needs economic aid and support from Delhi, which makes it clear that it can’t afford to have an anti-India stance at this point. Further, India has also not given shelter to Hasina to not upset the Army-backed caretaker government – a move that does not isolate Delhi from the rest of Southeast Asia and does not give advantage to China. DELHI ON WAIT-AND-WATCH MODE The movement that forced Hasina to step down also allegedly had the backing of Pakistan’s ISI and Jamat as claimed by experts, and what gave wind to it was the discontentment among the people over quota and employment. External forces which allegedly are at play could have their eyes on the stability around India. But India is on wait-and-watch mode and a top-level meeting on the crisis has also been chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. CENTRE IN TOUCH WITH BENGAL GOVERNMENT OVER INFILTRATION FEARS Bengal-Bangladesh border was a matter of concern as many feared large-scale infiltration amid the communal undertones that run through Dhaka’s volatile nerves. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has appealed for peace and requested not to communalise the crisis as she assured that the state government would work according to the instructions of the Centre. However, the closing of the Petropol border has affected daily trade. Moreover, this is not a TMC Vs BJP battle, but a pivotal development that concerns India with the potential of reshaping geopolitics surrounding the subcontinent. Amid Strained Ties, PM Modi's Eid Message For Maldives President

SRK, Mukesh Ambani sip Rs 31 ORS packs at PM's swearing-in. Internet is amused
Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan attended PM Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony in New Delhi on Sunday, June 10. At the event, the actor sat along with Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries. Several photos and videos of the duo, engrossed in conversation at the event, surfaced on social media. However, people particularly noticed the tetra-packs of ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) that Shah Rukh and Ambani were holding in their hands.
Tumblr media
People on the internet reacted as they noticed Shah Rukh and Ambani sipping ORS worth Rs 31 at the event. One of them wrote, "Ye log bhi ors liquid pite hain (Do these people also drink ORS?)". Another noted, "Ambani ji ORS pi rahe hai (Ambani Ji is drinking ORS)." A person joked, "Bas itna ameer hona hai ki aise ORS pee saku (I want to be just rich enough to drink this ORS)." “It’s better than all that soda drink. This is perfect for the weather. Also, he had a heat stroke recently it’s better to take precautions,” a Reddit user added.
Shah Rukh Khan recently suffered a heat stroke during IPL 2024 and was admitted to an Ahmedabad hospital.
While internet users commented on Ambani and SRK drinking the 'humble drink', one of them dug out an old post of Shah Rukh where he advised one of his fans to stay hydrated during summer.
During an 'Ask SRK' session on X, Shah Rukh replied to a fan who wrote, “@iamsrk the weather is very hot in this summer season… And you’re making it hotter #AskSRK." The actor responded, “Have some Nimbu Paani please. Dehydrate nahi hona (Don't get dehydrated)."
At PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony, Shah Rukh looked dapper in an all-black outfit as he arrived at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The business mogul Mukesh Ambani was dressed simply in an all-white outfit. The event also saw Rajinikanth, Kangana Ranaut, Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Vikrant Massey, and renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani in attendance.

Top World News: Why do Foreign Powers Like the US and China Want a Weak Government in India?
Tumblr media
In 1996, when the incumbent Congress government of Prime Minister Narashima Rao had lost the election, he quietly passed on a small paper note to the new prime minister elect Atal Behari Vajpayee at the latter’s swearing-in ceremony, carrying the message, “Meet Kalam”. Today news headlines in Hindi would have loved to know of such an incident and how Prime Minister Vajpayee kept the message a secret till the objective of meeting Kalam was achieved two years later in May 1998.
When the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came to power under Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in 1996, Vajpayee did not even know who Kalam was. However, he took the message of his predecessor with all the seriousness it deserved and immediately sought a meeting with Dr. Abdul Kalam.

At that time, he was the Chief Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister and Secretary of the Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO). None of the top 10 breaking news in India in Hindi today or at that time had even the faintest of idea about what was going on.
Upon meeting Kalam Prime Minister Vajpayee came to know for the first time that the country’s defence scientists had done all the groundwork for a multi-pronged nuclear test and was waiting for orders to proceed with it.
Vajpayee immediately gave the order for resumption of preparations for the test that should take place in a month’s time. Unfortunately, his government lasted just 13 days and once again the test was postponed.

Prime ministers HD Deve Gowda and Inder Gujral had no clue about the nuclear test
There are people who don’t understand why most of the opposition especially parties in India have lost respect and credibility in the eyes of most Hindus.
Let us first understand why former PM Narashima Rao never approached prime ministers Deve Gowda and Gujral about the pending nuclear tests.
That was because Rao knew that they were both weak leaders heading fickle coalitions of weak parties and they would easily succumb to American pressure.
Hence, after Vajpayee’s first government fell in 13 days in 1996, the pending nuclear test went into a two year freeze. When the BJP-led NDA returned to power in 1998, it was revived by Vajpayee on priority as per today news headlines in Hindi.

A weak government in India is what both the US and China wants
It must be noted that Vajpayee was leading a coalition of multiple parties and independent MPs and yet he went ahead with the test. Such firmness of political will and defiance is something the US was not used to and that explains why they want the BJP out of power.
When Narendra Modi came to power in 2014 on the back of an absolute majority in parliament after 30 long years, it was bad news for the US and China because they knew that India cannot be pressurized any more.
If the nuclear test was a trial by fire for Vajpayee, the Ukraine War was a test of India’s resolve to withstand US pressure going by today news headlines in Hindi and other media outlets.
ALSO READ| Today Breaking News: Is the US State Department Becoming More Careful While Commenting on India?
Vajpayee had to walk the political tightrope to ensure minimum damage to the Indian economy as a result of the nuclear tests against US pressure in 1998. However, in 2022-23 Modi actually had less to worry about when buying record quantities of oil from Russia amidst US pressure during the Ukraine War. That is because he enjoys a comfortable majority in parliament which was not the case with Vajpayee’s government. Moreover, the US is not the same overbearing sole superpower as it was in 1998 while the Indian economy was just one-fourth of what it is now.
