Trip report!!

For those that have been waiting, sorry! I got home and immediately had to go help with a family thing. But here it is!

First, was the obvious. We had to drop off the baby boy with my parents. He had a great time with the family and was very dirty, stinky, and sleepy when we got back.

So where were we? We went to see the eclipse! As many of you know, My wife proposed to me under totality in the 2017 solar eclipse. So she surprised me with time off to travel to this last one on 4/8!

We flew to Nashville, TN and rented a car so I could scratch my road trip itch. We visited her family in KY, then went up to Cairo, IL for the event.

THIS is the public library in Cairo. It's an absolutely darling building, built originally to be a library and still proudly serving that purpose. The gals who were manning the counter were sweet, knowledgeable, and so welcoming. They had goodie bags with moon pies and starbursts and collected the eclipse glasses when we were done with them so they could be sterilized and sent down to Mexico for the next eclipse. So lovely to talk with and they welcomed us to spend the eclipse on their lawn with some local families. So we did!

We had a little picnic, chatted with some of the families, and got to watch totality in a tiny little town with so much character I still smile just thinking about it.

Hopefully you don't expect us to have top tier eclipse photography lol, but these are great for us! I got to kiss my wife under totality and it was hella romantic.

Then I got to drive more....then Kara got to drive because there were a ton of accidents and the three hour drive back to Nashville took more than six hours. So uh, my motion-sick self was struggling with the stop and go traffic.

But when we got there, we had a great night and then day walking around Eastside Nashville and pointing out the arcades I was going to take Kara to that evening.

That didn't quite happen.

Because the first stop we made in the arcade crawl is where we stayed all night.

No Quarter, the pinball arcade I now have a hat for because it's so friggin cool. We got to do many cool things there. 1)They had excellent drinks and in true Oregonian fashion I got to try the local cider and judge it. (it was good!) 2) I kicked Kara's ass at pinball. Very important. 3) I got MY ass kicked at pinball by literally every other person in the building. Also very important. Because 4) I got to play in a pinball tournament hosted by Belles and Chimes, specifically for women and non binary folks!

How did I, notorious nerves-haver and not a multiplayer pinball player join this?

but yeah i like jungkooks room! its a very intense blue tht might make you depressed if youre in it too long but again i love how theres multiple items stacked in the bg and intense blue lights, and the ceiling looks like it has soundproof padding. its like youre in a recording studio or at some vaguely nostalgic party of a friend of my mom, who had plants in her home nd rock music nd the tv on and was smoking nd it was a bit dark and mysterious. i like it, it intrigues me a bit nd makes me miss going to concerts. also this pic rly just reminds me of 2008-2010 pop music videos where theres always a party and dj and people are wearing sunglasses or something and theres a dance break at the end

4. yoongi’s room

also blue!! the first time i saw this pic it was bc someone sent it to me to say how ugly they thought the decoration / editing looked w the metallic dripping stuff from the couch and whatnot but i kinda like it :( i like his velvety clothing and the light blue in the rest of the room is really pretty. i like mirror themes when done well nd i like how the reflectiveness shows also in the metallic dripping nd metallic spheres and the mirror hes standing on nd the way light reflects on his clothes and from the lamp. only the lamp feels a bit too much like a contemporary art installation for me nd his room already is a bit too empty for my liking nd i had the feeling when i watched the vid of him walking through the room that there was not much to interact w in the room like it was a bit dull. his voice in the explanation videos made it feel more like a place of peace / solitude rather than boredom or loneliness though.

5. namjoon’s room

ehh i think place 5, 6 and 7 are interchangable at this point. namjoon woulve ranked lowest but i listened to his explanation videos and saw him goof around in today’s video and appreciated it a bit more. the room still looks quite minimalist and not super comfortable, like youre not allowed to touch anything there (which is the same for jin i guess but i dont view that as smth meant to look like a living room). i do like how the wood theme is present throughout each wall nd in various items and w the windows nd use of space it feels a bit inspired by japanese interior design and that that is inspired by his bonsai tree nd love for woodwork, but im not sure. i was actually quite shocked some of his explanations were so short. so yeah i place this 5th bc i like how coherent the theme is but it doesnt feel cozy or inviting nd still very cold to me, maybe bc it looks too expensive or minimalistic in terms of colours.

6. jimin’s room

i like the flowers but also i dont like tiny flowers nd they tend to be the stinkier ones. i kind of like how jimins room feels the most like a grandma one w all the flowers nd offwhite and the lamp and beige i think? but the colours are so muted and if anything it feels like a place for a bridal photoshoot nd im just so bored. i love jimin nd feel bad for ranking a room he curated so low but it rly creates no serotonine in my brain, just melatonine bc im sleepy. i like how the room i obviously quite packed w stuff, but then the washed out colours make everything still look very bleak. hmm. i do like how the flowers reach outside the borders unlike w any of the others’ photos. im about to fall asleep so let me quickly finish this post

7. tae’s room

the picture in the middle behind him is interesting nd i dont know how he made that, nd i do like how he described his room as a place where there would always be enough food for visitors. i know it’s meant to communicate some highbrow, artsy vibe but w the weird editing and lightning nothing looks real in the room he’s in (including himself, like it doesnt even look like hes in the room) and it just looks kitschy instead of artsy. yeah i dont gravitate towards this one, it’s like deep-fried and desaturated at the same time nd i tend to avoid looking at it subconsciously

8. the first room photo

i first posted a long description here why but it disappeared but in short. this photo evokes no emotional response to me other than think of kind of crappy hotel rooms i was in w my parents while on vacation nd we slept in the same room or something nd the beds were awful nd made my moms chronic pain worse. the clothing is very boring and so r the colours of the room. i know bangtan curated stuff but its still the least interesting photo to me, maybe im too depressed to feel anything idk

Love, Huh? - Chapter 6

Finally today arrived. The day you were meeting Yixing. After the dinner with the Oh’s, you texted him you were free the next day, but he had to be in China for a family wedding for a week. You met Yixing back when your ex was finding businesses to invest in, and his club was one of them. You didn’t instantly become friends with him, other than the fact that your ex was super jealous, Yixing was kinda scary at first. He had this intimidating aura, even your ex agreed. But you got closer. In secret though.

For the past week, the boys have barely left you alone. They would try to arrange their schedule so at least one of them would be home. You know they have many friends, especially Chanyeol. Even Kyungsoo has his routine hangouts with his group. And Sehun who likes to drink outside. But lately they’ve just been at home a lot. You overheard Chanyeol couple days ago talking to his friend, “Sorry babe, a bit busy tonight, the comeback is near. But I’ll see you next week at the show okay?” or when you unintentionally and accidentally saw a text message on Kyungsoo’s phone from ‘Kwangsoo-hyung’ that read “We miss you Soo-ya. Hope you can come next time!” when both of them (plus the youngest) were schedule-less and spent the whole night at home drinking with Sehun’s newly bought whiskey.

When all of them had to leave altogether one day, they called and texted you (or facetime at the clingy maknae’s case) all day. You wanted to tell them that you were okay, and to be alone for a couple of hours is totally manageable. But you didn’t, knowing that they still felt guilty (when they shouldn’t have) they couldn’t be there when you needed them. So you let them, do things that would ease their minds.

You told them about your plan today, since they had to finish everything up for their next week’s comeback. Like expected, when you were getting ready to meet Yixing, you checked your phone to find a lot of texts already came in the group chat, the one they already had before they added you in.

Leaving Kyungsoo and the group chat (that was just filled with Sehun’s whining at this point) on read, you finished your dishes and went back to your room to grab your bag. Picking up the phone you left on the counter, you saw the last messages on the group chat.

A laugh came out from you. Finally things were starting to be normal again. Except of course the constant nagging and worries from them. But you found yourself liking it, that they care about you. And of course, it did feel nice to bicker with Sehun after so long.

“I miss your bratty ass,” you smiled mumbling to no one.

When you were checking out the chat, someone rang the doorbell. Weird, no one was supposed to come over.

I thought the cleaner was supposed to come tomorrow?

After the quick texts, they didn’t answer and the bell rung again. So you took a look at the peephole, and found the person you didn’t expect standing in front of the door.

“BAEKHYUN!” you exclaimed.

“GIRLIE I MISSED YOU!” he then proceeded to hug you.

“What are you doing here?!”

Baekhyun let you go before answering, “Your boyfriends told me you needed company today!”

Ah, of course. The boys.

“They told me to come last week too, but I was busy so I couldn’t. I was so sad I couldn’t see you earlier. It’s been sooooo long!!” he explained.

You hugged once again, indeed, missing him. Before the shitshow happened, he was one of your closest friends other than the EXO, the boys’ band. You then told him you were meeting Yixing and he was more than happy to come with you.

So you walked with him to Yixing’s café. He started to talk about the things you missed out about him, like how he became the million seller with his last album, the first Korean solo artist to do so in 19 years (yes go off king), and some of the guys he dated. He also mentioned his plan to collab with Kyungsoo again and how he had high hopes about it, since the first made him got a best friend in the latter and also in you and the two others.

It took him about 10 minutes before asking, “So what happened?”

“Bad relationship, and like usual, they were there to pick up my pieces,” you answered with a sincere smile.

Baekhyun didn’t pry. And that was really what he really need to know. That you were okay.

15 minutes of walking and you finally arrived. And you didn’t even have to enter the café to find Yixing, he was standing on the entrance looking down to his watch and phone. He only looked over when you called his name, and you launched into each other’s arms.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered as he held you.

“Again, not your fault, and never will be.” You stepped back from him and introduced him to the other person. “This is Baekhyun, and this is Yixing,” you said to both and Yixing offered his hand. Baekhyun zoned out for a minute before shaking the other’s hand.

“Come in! And choose your favorite treat please!” the tallest welcomed you in.

After choosing the mouthwatering red velvet cake and rose tea for yourself, all three of you were seated in one of the tables.

“So I never knew you had a café,” you said to Yixing.

“You know I’m a sweet tooth. Once I’ve saved enough, this happened,” he gestured the café. “Have you been okay?”

“Yes, how ‘bout you?”

“Me? I’m okay. Well not really. I’m drowning in debts cause I made a leap of faith when this lot became available couple of months ago, so,” he laughed.

You laughed with him too, “Your parents are rich, Xing. You need to worry about nothing.”

“Exactly why I’m not depressed about the debts,” he paused to take a sip of his drink. “Is this one of the guys you live with?” he asked pointing at the guy sitting next to you, currently head deep in his strawberry watermelon cake.

You chuckled seeing Baekhyun’s excitement eating the treat. “No. He’s their friend though. Mine too.”

Realizing he was being talked about, he looked sheepishly to the both of you. “Sorry, this is really good,” he talked with his mouth full.

“By the way, where do you live? You said it’s not far?” Yixing asked you. When you told him the name of the building, his eyes widen. “No way.”

“What?”

“I live there too!”

“No way.”

“Do you live there too?” Yixing asked Baekhyun this time.

“Sadly, no.”

All of you ended up talking about music, with Baekhyun giving songs recommendation for Yixing to play in his café, most of them are his songs though. Not that anyone complained, his songs are bombs. Baekhyun also asked about business things, turned out he was thinking about opening up a clothes store for his brand.

“Sorry I have to take this,” Baekhyun said when his phone rang, and he walked out of the café.

“Does he know?” Yixing asked once Baekhyun left.

“A little bit.”

“The other guys?”

“They know.”

“Good. You need the support.” He paused again. “I’m really sorry though. I didn’t know it was that bad.”

“Like I’ve said over and over again, it is not your fault.”

“His mom called a couple days ago.”

Your breath hitched. “Why?”

“He’s been spiraling out of control.”

Your heart skipped a beat. “But why would she call you and not his friends?” They were friends yes, Yixing and your ex. But not that close.

“She asked my number around, knowing I know you, to ask me to tell you. She’s his mom but still a woman. She couldn’t ask you for this.”

“For what?”

“A call. To him.”

And this time you were sure you weren’t breathing. “What happened to him?” you asked him with your head hung low.

Yixing took your hand in his, “Drugs.”

Your head snapped up. “What?”

He took a deep breath before continuing to explain, “He did drug business behind my back at the club, another reason I closed it down other than the fact that all the investors left after what happened. And the police knew. That’s why they tried to push you into suing him, cause they don’t have enough proof to put him behind bars. He never used them before. But his mom told me he’s been doing it. And she begged me to let you know, to ask you to call him. Just once, to tell him to stop.”

Your head fell again, you were holding back tears. You were afraid, of him. You were afraid of what he did to you and also about what would happen to him.

“You don’t have to do it, not after what he did to you.”

“I… I’ll think about it,” you replied weakly.

“Don’t think too hard. I don’t agree with this too. I only told you because his mom literally begged me on her knees to let you know. But you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to, okay?”

You just nodded. When Baekhyun came back, you tried to fake a smile and masked your feelings. After about another hour, with promises of visiting in the future, you left. As both of you walked out of the café, you turned to your side to the guy who spent the last hour staring at your friend, “You know, he’s gay, he’s single, definitely ready to mingle, and I also noticed his interest in you” you watched his eyes twinkled, “Go get that dick,” you lightly smacked his bottom as he blushed and walked in once again to face the guy behind the cashier. You saw them pulling out their phones, clearly exchanging numbers. “Happy?” you asked as Baekhyun came out smiling wide.

“I just got myself a sugar daddy, of course I’m happy!”

“Oh don’t even try. He’s my sugar daddy.”

“Honey, you already have 3, you don’t need more.”

Nico & Sana having bonding time looking at Sana's old pregnancy photo books, family albums and seeing pics of before Nico was born, Nico as a newborn in the hospital and then at home, always being cuddled by Sana. little Nico asks if she's going to look like Sana when she has babies too (👀 a pic pregnant with the triplets) and since she is too little to present, Sana avoids the ABO birds and bees by saying "probably not, cuz mommy had 3 babies in her tummy at once. That's not really common." 🦄

Nico was so perfect on Sana’s lap. It had always been her favorite place in the world, while next to her mama’s shoulders. Riding on Tzuyu’s shoulder was always the best, but Sana’s lap was a close second. It was always so warm and her mommy would always rain little kisses on her. Plus Sana’s chest, Nico’s favorite place to sleep since she was born, was right there. If she got sleepy she could just go to sleep right there. It had been Sana’s idea to show her youngest family photo albums. With Nico being the only one at home and Sana’s work schedule all over the place she always tried to think of creative things to do with Nico while they were the only two at home. Nico had seemed interested, so Sana pulled out all the family photo albums they had. 

“It’s so little.” Nico pointed to a picture of herself as a baby being held by Tzuyu. 

“That’s you sweetie.” Sana giggled, looking at the picture. “That was taken the first time mama held you.” “I was little.” “You were very little.” Sana nodded. It was a bit unbelievable actually. To think that the tiny pink bundle in the picture was the four year old sitting in her lap. 

“Mommy’s tummy is so big.” Nico giggled as she looked at a picture of Sana. 

“Yeah? That was before you were born.” Sana pinched Nico’s nose. “You were in there.” “I was?” Nico asked. “Where.” “Right there.” Sana took Nico’s finger and put it on her swollen stomach in the picture. 

“All these pictures are of me.” Nico whined. 

“Yeah this is my collection of pictures taken right before or after you were born.” Sana giggled. “See, this was taken the day we knew we were having you.” Sana flipped back a few pages and showed a picture of herself smiling and holding a pregnancy test. “Well, not the exact day, but right around then.” “There aren’t that many pictures of mommy.” Nico pointed out. 

“Yes there are.” Sana giggled. “But I didn’t like having my picture taken much cause I thought I wasn’t very pretty when you were in there.” “Mommy is pretty.” Nico nodded. 

“Thanks sweetie.” Sana laughed. “Hey look here’s some picture of your sisters and me.” Sana pointed to some pictures they had taken at Sana’s pregnancy photoshoot. She did one every time she was pregnant, it had started with wanting to be a ‘pinterest’ mom with Sai and it had been continued for all the kids. The pictures showed the girls hugging or kissing Sana’s baby bump. 

“Unnies were little.” “Yeah they were younger before you were born.” Sana giggled. “The triplets were six when you were born and Sai was eleven.” “Hm…” Nico looked at the picture closely. “Sai Unnie looks the prettiest.” “Well I’ll be sure to tell her you said that.” Sana laughed at Nico’s honesty, flipping to another page with lots of pictures of Nico as a newborn. There were some from the hospital but a lot from the first day Nico came home. In almost every photo, Sana was the one holding her. 

“Mommy liked to hold me.” Nico pointed out. 

“Mommy still likes to hold you.” Sana kissed Nico’s head. “Want to see some of the triplets baby pictures?” “Yeah!” Nico cheered. Sana put the pale pink one with Nico’s name written on the front and picked up the one they had for the triplets. It had a white cover, and had Saya, Sae, and Saki’s names written in kanji on the front. Sana opened it and flipped past a few ultrasound pictures before getting to the actual ones of them. “Mommy’s tummy is even bigger!” Nico laughed. “Will I look like that when I have babies too?” Nico asked. Sana blushed a bit, she had no clue if Nico was going to be an alpha, beta, or omega. An omega would be her best guess but you never knew. She thought Sae was going to be an omega. Plus she didn’t even want to think about her littlest baby becoming a mom.

“Probably not, mommy had three babies in her tummy.” Sana tried to laugh it off. “Three babies?” “Yup, Saya, Sae, and Saki were all in mommy’s tummy at once, that’s not very common.” Sana giggled. “That’s why they have the same birthday.” “Oh.” Nico nodded. “Mommy how do babies get in mommies tummies?” “OKay how about we go get some ice cream?” Sana blushed and abruptly changed the subject, closing the photo album. “Ice cream!” Sana sighed in relief that the subject change worked. Nico was going to be her baby for a long, long time.

Just a short update so I can catch up to the daily routine:

It’s Sunday again! The most bittersweet day of the week. On one hand, it’s the end of the weekend which means it is Monday again tomorrow which means work which means ughhhh. On the other hand, it’s Monday again! It’s the weekdays again! I can see my smol bean again! haha So you see what I go through. Plus there are some weekends where we got to spend it together so Sundays means being separated again and that sucks the most.

For today, nothing much really happened. I just went back to Manila again. Pretty chill day where I got to make kulit of my smol bean in our chat. There’s a bit of a blimp when she was being insecure and won’t show her face with clay mask. I mean, I really am makulit and wanted to see it, I’m pretty sure it’s going to look cute on her. But alas, she’s stubborn and doesn’t really wanna show it/. Made me a bit sad ‘coz it wasn’t like I’m gonna tease her.. okay maybe just a bit hehe. But yeah. She noticed I was off afterwards. To be fair, I really was sleepy and trying to push her to show me her face tired me a bit. So I took a nap. 

When I woke up, she has sent me some pokemon filters of herself (squirtle and charmander) which really lifted my mood. Such a cutiieeeeee!

We also talked about the thing. She taught I’ll feel off about her if I saw her with the clay mask ‘coz she thinks she looks bad. But then again, she realized that what if I’m the one with the mask and all. She realized she won’t mind and still see me as cute. Which is the same case for me. I love every bit of her, including all the marks and imperfections. In my eyes, it’s what makes her my smol bean. She’s unique, beautiful and very much the person that makes my heart run with every part of her. I mean, I haven’t even taken a bath today and yet she finds it adorable. hahahaha weird but endearing isn’t?

And so, the night was calmer. We went on a video chat where I just play games and she does her thing. I was kind of bored and still haven’t showered. It’s either I shower, I go buy coffee, or go to the gym. In the end, I decided to go to the gym so I would have to take a shower afterwards. I’m such a lazy ass lol.

So I went to the gym. On my way there, I realized something’s off. Something kept going on my eyes and it’s a bit dusty. So I asked smol bean if something’s up. Lo and behold, there’s apparently an on going ash fall that night. Taal Volcano’s acting up and spewing ash over Manila. Shookt ako. I wasn’t informed. So I had to trek my way to the gym faster. Smol bean’s pretty worried bout me. But anyways, took me 15 min walk and I’m at the gym na. Started my threadmill run with her watching me while she works on her tita’s invitation.

She had to call her brother in EU so we had to drop the call. I went on an hour of run, did a few basic work out stuff and rest na. Finally, I manage to take a shower na HAHA. I told her “I’m done shower na.” She thought I was just about to take a shower and instantly messaged me na done na call with her brother and we should vid call. *insert emoji” Lol sorry, done na with shower. So I just sent her a pic of newly showered me. *insert emoji* mehehehe 

When I’m all done, I sat on the gym mattress to charge my phone and vid call her first. I’m so lazy I didn’t feel like walking home just yet. Needed my smol bean of powerboost first. I miss that face. It’s nearing 11 pm though, so I decided to walk home na. I used my jacket to cover my face from the ashfall. She’s adamant I protect myself. She has a point though, it kinda irritates my eyes and nose.

Also remember when I said I wanted coffee, of course I just had to buy one before going up to my condo. And the lil ol clumsy me just had to spill it to myself huh. A usual occurence to tol girl’s life lol. This is why smol bean likes to take care of me, I’m such a clumsy kid. I even got a bit burnt on my fingers. Smol bean’s face is full of exasperation and resignation again because of my antics hahaha. I drank my coffee, ate my banana and watch her pack her things since she’ll be back to Makati on Monday. Still a dilemma though if she should just work from home (wfh) since it was advised to them. I kept checking up on the news about the Taal Volcano eruption to ensure it is safe for her to go back to south.  She also has to check up on an apartment listing. I also wanted to see her tomorrow. But the whol volcano thing is putting us on a loop.

In the end, she packed her things, we went to bed and just kept making kulit til 2 in the morning. Batang pasaway ohhhhh. She gotta get up by 3:30 if she’s going back, so I watched her sleep and I kept checking up on the news. I wanna be prepared for the both of us in case something happened. Tried waiting for her to wake up but sleep caught up to me.

And so, that’s how my Sunday went by. Me going to sleep wishing I’m sleeping besides her. I just wanna warm her up and protect her from all of the world’s worries. Can’t wait to see my smol bean.

2, 3, & 8 for the prompt list

Hoooo boy this has taken me a while to get to (I’ve had some asks sitting around much longer though!) but I’ve finally done it; all these questions (from the memory prompt list from way back) fit together really nicely to be used in a single bit of writing! So here we have it; I’ve covered ‘a memory of their father’, ‘a memory of their mother’ and ‘a hazy memory’ all in one, plus covered some ground I’ve been meaning to get out in story format for a while.

Memories; ~2,000 words total, with a couple more pics under the cut!

“Do ye’ remember anything from before you were adopted?”

Ahuska wasn’t quite sure when the conversation had tipped toward childhood reminiscing, but even then the question that silver-furred Ralsko asked caught her a little off guard. She rocked back in Crow’s lap, basking in the glow of the bonfire as she considered her answer.

“Not… really. Even my earliest memories of my buire are pretty hazy, and things before that… stars, I’m not even sure if what I ‘remember’ are actual real things, or just pictures I picked up from somewhere and have held onto. I remember watching these little animals high up in the trees, tiny things with huge bushy tails and tufted ears. I was mad excited to see them, and I think someone was holding my hand. I’ve never seen a creature quite like them, definitely not on Dxun and not that I can recall on Concord or Mandalore, so I’m pretty sure that’s from when I was really small. And then there’s the ‘animal soup’, hah.”

“Animal soup?” Ralsko was the one who said it aloud, but the query was clearly on the tongues of everyone else gathered and listening. Ahuska smirked. “Yeah, Animal Soup. I know I had it some time, I don’t remember anything around it. Where I was, who I was with, no idea. I just remember this big warm bowl, mostly broth, but it was full of… animals. Like, tiny little dumpling things, all shaped like different animals. It was probably just some… quick, cheap food, something easy on a rainy day, but it’s stuck in my head and I know I worked it up to be some incredible dish. I kept asking my buire to make me ‘animal soup’ and they could never understand what I meant. Not nerf bone soup, not nuna noodle soup, nothing that used actual animals as ingredients. Everything they tried was wrong, and I’d get so mad, haha. I think we eventually sorted out what I was talking about but they never did manage to find or make an ‘animal soup’ that lived up to that hazy baby memory of mine.”

“Cute,” came Crow’s murmured, sleepy voice behind her, accompanied by a gentle tug as he started to fiddle with her ears. The glow of the fire was warm and bright, keeping the chill air comfortable for all who sat within its reach. Kip stepped forward to toss an extra log onto the blaze, her powerful Annoo-dat physique making child’s play of what would take the average being considerable effort to haul, and sending up a spiraling plume of sparks into the night sky as a result.

“So what’s the story with your Bothan parents then? If that fellow down in that mansion we shot up were your pa—“ The broad shouldered reptilian began asking, all four arms akimbo as she stretched tall to bask in the bonfire’s heat.

“That shabuir was not a parent,” Ahuska cut her off swiftly, her tone only blunt because of the uncomfortable memory. She felt Crow’s hand squeeze over her shoulder, and with it, a measure of reassurance. “I don’t give an osik about bloodline or who fethed who to make me happen. He didn’t raise me, he didn’t want me…”

A soft cough from off in the shadows gave pause to Ahuska’s tirade, and hers were among the dozen or so sets of eyes that turned toward its source.

Ahuska sighed, and waved a hand disarmingly. “It’s fine, Ulfran, it’s fine. You don’t have to go all… wrapped up in your Jedi guilt nonsense, I don’t blame you for what Hadrex had you do any more.” And it was true. She might not have felt any particular fondness for the man, but her original hostility toward him, for the part he’d played in her kidnapping and delivery to her blood relatives on Bothawui, had gradually worn away. The patient way he worked with Nela, and the obvious comfort Lyrisal took from his presence, made good headway towards amends.

“That’s… not quite it,” the Jedi shook his head, his pale eyes reflecting even more strangely in the firelight than usual. A faint smile tweaked at his beard, though the creases in his brow deepened. “I… I’m afraid there are some details I’ve been privy to that I… I frankly should have shared with you much, much sooner than this.”

Ahuska tensed, blinking toward him. “Uh…”

There was a ripple amongst all the others present, blatant curiosity warring with a vague sensation that they perhaps shouldn’t pay too close attention to the turn in conversation.

“It’s good news, I swear,” Ulfran reassured. “For you see, when Hadrex had ordered a DNA scan from you, he also ordered me to ensure that the results said exactly what he required. The papers were falsified, Ahuska. You’re no more related to the Kor’Var household than you are to… well, me, for want of better comparison.”

It didn’t quite knock the wind out of her, but Ahuska was plainly stunned, and all were silent as they watched for her reaction. She sat very still, eyes half-narrowed but gaze not fixed on anyone or anything. Silently, she processed the fact, before very slowly inclining her head in such a way that even though she was resting on the ground, far lower than Ulfran’s perch, she managed to look down her snout at him. “You faked my blood results.  I wasn’t even related to that arsehole.” She spoke very slowly, processing the new information. “He wasn’t my family. None of them… for all that he put me through, Hadrex was never even related to me through blood!?”

“Not in any way,” Ulfran confirmed tentatively as those sky blue eyes turned his way, sharp and critical.

She stared, her expression hard, lips pursed, ears quivering in that way they did whenever she was feeling particularly tense. She felt Crow’s hand come to rest on her hip, but he didn’t speak… nobody spoke, until she finally exhaled and let herself fall back against him again. “Good,” she stated, simply. “Good. Never wanted to know who my blood relatives were before all that osik, and that hasn’t changed now. To hell with House Kor’Var.”

“I’ll drink to that,” came Crow’s voice behind her, with another tweak of her ear.

“To hell with Bothawui,” added Ralsko, her dappled grey fur rippling sharply along her cheeks.

Laks, beside her, and one of the few present who actually held a mug in his hands, lifted it into the air on behalf of all of them. “To hell with Bothawui.”

“To hell with the Empire!”

“To hell with the SIS.”

“To hell with that damned war…”

Everyone began to chime in, with their own personal gripes against the galaxy, increasingly loud and boisterous with their additions such that only the Bothans present, with their particularly good ears, picked up on Ulfran’s quiet murmur. “To hell with the Order.”

“To hell with going to bed when I’m told… HEY! OW!” If Nela thought she was going to get away with throwing that in there, she quickly realised she was sorely mistaken when Crow lobbed a chunk of firewood at her.

“Go to bed!”

“No!”

“Don’t make me shoot you…!”

“MUM DID YOU HEAR THAT.”

“I’m pretty sure I just heard a young member of Clan Crow disrespecting her buir, yes…!”

“I bet you disrespected your buir all the time when you were little!” Nela’s retort earned a scoff of incredulous laughter from at least half the beings present, though the teen’s cheeky smirk suggested that she didn’t actually believe her own words either.

“Pshhh. I was an absolute angel of an ad’ika,” Ahuska huffed. “I mean… hang on, hang on.” She shifted in Crow’s lap, to the sound of his disgruntled protests, something about wriggling around when he’d been perfectly comfortable, and managed to extract her wallet from a back pocket. Not that she actually kept any loose credits in it half the time, mind; its contents were far more precious than that. She leafed through an assortment of carefully folded flimsi, plucking out one that had clearly been carried around for years, the edges all softened and worn, the colour faded, but the printed image still clear enough.

Ahuska stared at it while Crow peered over her shoulder, and her expression became very far-away. When it looked as though she was never going to actually pass it along, Nela scrambled over from her side of the bonfire and tugged it out of the Bothan’s fingers, immediately ducking back out of reach and trusting in the fact that Ahuska would be too reluctant to leave her husband’s lap to make an attempt to grab it back. Nela thought right.

“Ohmystars you’re so cuuuute…!” the half-Twi’lek gushed.

Laks, Ralsko, Kip and Titus, even Ulfran shuffled over from his perch to have a look, and some shifting movement in the shadows might have been Lyrisal, craning her neck to see.

“I’m six, there. When I was pretty much the same height as my buir’ika and, buir’nuvhu could still pick me up with one arm…” ‘Little mum’ and ‘Pink mum’, the terms young Ahuska had used to differentiate between her parents, the latter of course referring to Jinn, her Zeltron mother, while the former was for the diminutive Chadra-fan, Santha. In the image being shared, Jinn had her wife lifted up and perched on her left arm, while a tiny Ahuska mirrored the pose on her right. “That was my first trip to Concord Dawn, I think. We were there for about a week but honestly, I mostly remember that day in the woods. I begged that we head out there as the sun was coming up, and we saw wild reyr, a whole family of real wild reyr! Also found saberwolf tracks, I swear they were even if buir’ika didn’t beli—“

“Excuse me,” Laks’ rich baritone gently interrupted, and when Ahuska fell silent and stared his way, he went on. “But you say you are six years, in this picture? That is… that is very wrong! Here, this little Bothan…” the burly Bothan man poked at Ahuska’s giggling printed face. “…she is at least eight. Maybe nine years, if she is a little slow to hit growth spurt.”

“Tall ones often take a wee bit longer to get there, aye,” Ralsko nodded her agreement, grinning at the picture. “I mean, ye’ got the curve in the ears there, so if ye’ haven’t hit ninth birthday yet it can’t be far off…”

“Noooo… no way,” Ahuska breathed in utter disbelief, still staring toward the pair of Bothan Deserters.

“I’m afraid it’s so,” Laks dared to curve his lips into a smirk, at the same moment Ahuska felt a little jab in the ribs.

“Got a couple of birthdays to catch up on there, do we, old timer?” Crow teased gently.

“Nah, nonono, nayc, I’m…”

“Two, three years older than you thought you were?”

“No, they’re kidding, right? You’re all just ribbing…?” she turned her big blue eyes beseechingly toward Laks.

Unfortunately, the eyes that met her in return were unapologetically earnest, if still very entertained. “Keth had a small boy of his own, shall we fetch him and have him bring the baby holos? You will see for yourself how we Bothans mature…”

“Shab!” Ahuska cursed in resignation, throwing her hands into the air.

“So how old are you now?” Nela piped up again, and didn’t at all quail under the sharp glare Ahuska short her. It was hard to take her Bothan buir seriously when her father’s face was grinning manically from ear to ear right behind her.

“Thirty… two,” Ahuska whispered sullenly.

“So thirty-three, probably, you mean?” Crow cackled.

“THIRTY TWO. And a half. STARS, ULFRAN, GET ME A DAMNED DRINK.”

“Pardon?”

“YOU HEARD ME. In the space of one conversation you lot have managed to re-orphan me and age me three years, get me a stars-damned drink so I can handle the next fethin’ bomb that’s gonna be dropped on me. What next, Crow’s actually an Alderaanian noble and we’re third in line for the crown? Yeesh. Make it a strong one.”

AU: Werewolf!Guanlin would be such a puppy. He’d trail after you whenever you have food and even if you scold him (“No, Guanlin, you can’t have any of my ice cream bc it’s mINE”) he’d just unlease his puppy dog eyes on you until you caved in. He’s also the type to just lay on your couch for hours, but the moment he hears you say you’re headed to the park, he’s running after you. 

Best Friend: tbh i feel like Guanlin would be such a chill friend. He’s the type of friend that just kinda goes along with the flow for everything, so when you mention going to McDonald’s at 3am, he’s doWN. He’d also be a lil shit too, bc he knows he’s freakishly tall, so he’s the type to hold stuff high above your head, just to laugh at you struggling. 

Cuddles: Guanlin is a lil bub, okay? And lil bubs need their cuddles. Since he’s so obnoxiously tol, I feel like he’d want to be the big spoon, like, all of the time. He’s the type to like it when you press your back against his chest so his arm can just protectively swing over your waist. Plus, he’s not against pulling you by the waist against him whenever you try to get up and get water or some shit lmao

Domestic: okay Guanlin has confirmed himself he’s a lazy bub, so domesticnicity is on the lower end of the spectrum. Expect him to either be splayed out on the couch while you’re trying to vacuum or just with his arms wrapped around yoru waist as you’re trying to cook. The only time he’d actively help clean or cook is when you start whining about how high something is.

Ending: Guanlin is pretty young, and I feel like he’s probably not that experienced with relationships. Keeping that in mind, breaking up with someone might end up being difficult for him, but knowing how he can be quite blunt, I feel like he’d just end up saying “hey, let’s break up.” He’d def spend time talking to them about the why, but I feel like he’d be pretty set on his decision. 

Films: Guanlin gives me mad action movie fan vibes for some strange reason. Like, this boy would watch a James Bond movie and then proceed to creep around the house on his tiptoes like a “spy.” I also feel like he’d be into home movie nights bc he can fall asleep on the couch right after the movie ends lmao

Groupmates: Wanna One can be quite overwhelming to meet. 10 older brothers of your boyfriend? Wild, dude, hella wild. They’d all be clamoring around each other trying to introduce themselves to you before Minhyun and Jisung pull you aside to put down some ground rules. I also imagine a really pouty Jihoon sulking in the corner bc Guanlin found a new favorite person. 

Hugs: yes,,,that’s all I’m going to say lmao. But in all honestly, Guanlin is such a tol noodle I feel like hugs would be gr8, like, he’s the type to go all in on a hug, just wrap you tightly in his arms. Plus, once he gets super comfortable with you, expect random hugs every now and then (even the occasional hug where he gets a running head start and proceeds to knock the breath out of you bc he overestimated his speed and impact force lmao)

Intimate: Guanlin is still pretty young, so I expect blushy cheeks and adorable stuttering whenever you give him a kiss on the cheek or a backhug. However, that’s at the beginning of your blossoming relationship. Expect him to get cocky once the two of you are more comfortable, and he’d be the one to swoop down and give you a kiss. 

Jealousy: So I’m split 50/50 rn on Guanlin and jealousy. Like he’d either be chill on the outside about it, letting you do your thing and only voicing his jealousy when you’re alone. oR he’d end up being a pouty oversized baby during the entire time. Like, you know how long his limbs are? Expect them to be draped or wrapped around some part of your body lmao

Kisses: giGGLY MESS OKAY. He’d be all about that cupping your cheeks while kissing you slowly and smiling into the kiss a lot, letting a giggle slip when he opens his eyes and looks into yours. He’s the type to like to kiss you on the tip of your nose, especially when you scrunch it up bc he finds you soso cute. And he loves it when you kiss him on the cheek bc there’s something intimate yet sweet about the whole thing. 

Little Ones: Guanlin is practically a lil one okay? A very tol lil one, but a lil bab at the most. At first he’d be scared out of his mind bc “omg what if I break one of them????” But at the end of the day he’s got a kid clinging onto each leg and one on his shoulders as he stomps around the room imitating a freaking megazord or some ish.

Morning: Guanlin is on the lazier side lmao so mornings would be spent trying to convince him to wake up,,,which you fail at so the two of you just spend your mornings in bed. Cuddling is a must and him lazily brushing your hair behind your ear is a daily occurance. 

Night: Expect Netflix on the tv as the two of you cuddle under the blankets bickering over which character is better. I also can imagine him as the type to eat cereal or, like, instant noodles at 1am with you bc lmao time is just a construct. He’s also the type to like getting ready for bed, like yall brush your teeth together, wash your face together, all that jazz, but the moment his head hits the pillow it’s lights out.

Open: I see Guanlin as this really bright, happy boy, but I feel like it takes a lot for him to open up. Like at first he’d tell you the basics, favorite color, food, animal, just the superficial stuff first. However, as the months past and the conversations between you two grow into hours and hours of talking, he’d definitely be the type to talk about what he wants in life and his dreams and his fears as the two of you lay face to face on the bed.

Photographs: I feel like he wouldn’t be super into documenting your relationship. def bc he knows his hyungs would give him hella shit for it Like, he’d like taking pictures of you to keep on his phone, so he can look at them fondly while he’s away, but sharing them? Printing them out? Nah fam. He’d much rather keep your candids (usually cute, but he’s got that one pic of you shoving two cupcakes in your face and it’s game over there) to himself.

Quizzes: Guanlin sometimes seem kinda sleepy and unaware, but I feel like he’s really sharp? Like I feel like he’d know your favorite food at each restaurant and your favorite flowers and stuff like that, he’d just never use that information lmao. Yall would be going out to eat, and this boy knows your order by heart and all that, but he would never order for you even if you left to use the restroom. 

Rain: This boy likes his naps, so when the raindrops start pattering against the window, expect him to be sprawled out on the couch. He likes using you as his own personal teddy bear, and when you try to escape, he swings his leg over your body to trap you. So rainy days are spent with him nuzzling his face into your hair as he hums a soft melody.

Sleep: I feel like he’s a starfish kind of sleeper. His limbs are just so,,,,,long, like I can’t imagine him sleeping in a compact form lol. I also feel like he’s the type to random wake up in the middle of the night randomly and start mumbling before going back to sleep. Like yall would be sleeping, 3am hits, and this boy wakes up and starts talking about Seonho and then just goes right back to sleep lol.

Try: I feel like he’d try to his best abilities. He’d probably go to his hyungs and ask for advice, regret his actions, and then consult the internet lmao. He’s a chill bf most of the time, but he knows on anniversaries and stuff those have to be special. But he plans those to be chill too, like dinner at your fave place or maybe a really cute park date with candles and stuff.

Ugly: This isn’t a really ugly habit, but he has a habit of putting things on the highest shelf. Like, yeah, it’s convenient for him, but when you crave chips, you don’t want to put in extra effort to get them lol. I also feel like he’s the type to drink milk straight out of the carton, and that’s just unsanitary. 

Victorious: yES, I feel like he enjoys at home kind of dates, so video game night is a must. He prefers playing Mario Kart, but after you beat him for the 100th time, he decided to stop playing that game with you on date nights. I also feel like he’s the type to just start 1v1 basketball in the park on day with you. he probs won but if you win he’d be highkey proud

Winter: Cold weather? He probably likes going to small cafes and bakeries to drink hot cocoa and eat pastries while watching the snowflakes fall outside. Also, expect a giant snowman to be built before all the snow melts. Plus, he’ll randomly start snowball fights, so always be prepared, aLWAYS.

Xtra: He probably really enjoys dog videos. Like, this boy is practically a giant pup himself, so watching actual pups do adorable pup things? Def his aesthetic. Expect him to run up to you with his phone one day and shove it right under your nose so you can bask in the adorableness too.

Yuck: I feel like Guanlin doesn’t like it when people aren’t straight up honest with him. Like yeah, he understands sometimes there are occasions where lying is okay, but he would def hate it if you did something bad and either put off from telling him or tried to skirt around the truth. He’s honest with you, so he expects you to be honest with him.

Zodiac: So, according to the internet, Guanlin is a Libra. However, I don’t feel like he fits it exactly. Yes, he is shown to be cooperative and sociable, but Guanlin doesn’t do self-pity. He doesn’t dwell on “oh, woe is me” he works on improving himself as a person. I feel like Guanlin legit would not care what zodiac you were, as long as you were nice and caring he’s down.

Getting a good night's sleep with a newborn in the house is like finding the pacifier that fell onto the nursery floor in the middle of the night. It's seemingly impossible, especially by the rays of the nightlight and with half-open eyes at 2 in the morning. And you know you're truly sleep-deprived when you start to get four-plus hours of sleep in a row and are like-- "WOW! I can't believe we slept so long!" Feeling good after half a night's sleep must be God's built-in, kind gesture to get us through until babies sleep the whole night.

Let Me Give You Some Hope:

You won't forever be the sleep-deprived zombie you feel like you are now. In fact, you can rapidly improve the sleep that you're getting now during the newborn phase, both in quality and quantity. If you implement the following tips for getting a good nights sleep with a newborn baby, you'll be amazed at the results!

9 Tips For Getting A Good Nights Sleep With A Newborn Baby

1- Start A Sleep Schedule For Baby

The best thing I did with my newborns was to put them on an infant sleep schedule, or more specifically, a routine. This came in so handy with our oldest daughter because my husband deployed two weeks after her birth. I was solo-parenting, and I needed all the sleep I could get. You can read more on that story here. I didn’t use a rigid schedule, but helping us both develop a routine allowed her to nap and eat regularly during the day, and sleep for longer periods at night. She slept 8 hours by 7-8 weeks old, and was sleeping 10-12 hours by 10 weeks. RELATED: WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO START AN INFANT SLEEP SCHEDULE? Of course, you can imagine that if she was sleeping that much, I started to recover from sleep deprivation and feel so much more rested pretty early on into motherhood. Woo hoo! Not that I haven't experienced my share of sleepless nights (life with 3 kids is never dull lol) but those first few months with a newborn are brutal. 2- Use Essential Oils

We hope you enjoy the products we recommend!  This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for supporting our small business as we strive to help you rock mom life! I love the smell of lavender, and I use it regularly to help my mind and body get ready for sleep. I place a few drops on my wrists, rub them together, and take a deep breath in. Ahhhhh. This is making me sleepy haha. Essential oils can help you relax and fall asleep more quickly. You can put them on the back of your neck, on the collar of your pjs, diffuse them, or just smell the bottle. I recommend using pure grade oils, not just a cheap bottle from the drug store, as you don’t want fillers in your oil. Just be sure to stick to the list of safe oils for baby, since baby will get an up-close whiff of them when they’re around you. I like to put lavender on my babies feet when they're especially upset!

A good night of rest = happy baby & happy mama

3- Turn Off Electronics One Hour Before Bedtime

Ok. This is hard. I use my phone as an alarm clock. Not that I need an alarm very often, since my kids wake me up long before the alarm would go off. But I pretend. Electronics can keep you awake longer than you’d like. The blue light emitted stimulates your brain and delays it from winding down for sleep. Some apps do have a night setting, which could help a bit. But as much as you need downtime in this stage, I suggest going for options such as a magazine or book to help you wind down… and --BONUS-- they’ll probably put you right to sleep!

4- Create A Bedtime Routine

It’s the WORST when you finally get baby down for a nice solid night’s sleep, and now YOU can’t sleep. What gives?!?! One of my fav tricks, as someone who has struggled with falling asleep in the past, is to create a bedtime routine for yourself. Wash your face, floss and brush your teeth, and get your pajamas on (and whatever else you do) in the same order each night. The purpose of a bedtime routine is to cue your body that sleep is coming soon. As you develop a habit, your body will learn that after XYZ happens, we go to sleep. Your pre-bedtime activities signal your mind that sleep is coming, and it can start to transition from awake toward rest.

5- Recycle Your Routine

It may take some time to figure out the order you prefer, but try to stay consistent for 3-4 weeks once you nail it down. If you find yourself lying awake for more than 20 minutes, get up and “recycle” your bedtime routine (see above point). Splash water on your face, use the restroom, repeat the basics. Doing so can re-trigger your brain that “Hey, it’s time to sleep!” A routine is great for mama and baby too. As you move baby into a gentle routine, your schedules can coordinate and naturally play off one another. For example, I did my bedtime routine around my little ones' night routine and late night "dream feed." 6- Wear Nursing Tops And Nursing Pads For A Good Nights Sleep

Be sure to wear comfortable sleep wear for nursing. I wore nursing tanks or a nursing bra at night. I also recommend cloth (washable) nursing pads for night time. I used disposable during the day, but at night the cloth ones were way more comfortable. Nursing pads give you some extra absorbency and can prevent you from waking up to a soaking wet shirt, especially when your body is still adjusting to nursing.

7- Get Daddy Involved

Who says Mommy has to do all the work with a newborn? Daddy may not be able to nurse, but he can change diapers, warm bottles, wipe up messes, and more. My husband would get up and change the baby's diaper while I got ready to nurse. Then he'd hand her off, and I would nurse while he went back to bed. I know I'm pretty lucky to have a hubby so willing to jump in and get involved. I had to do it on my own for #1 and #3 since he was deployed, but I got a taste of him helping with our second daughter and I really appreciated it! 8- Stock Your Bedside Table

I was always parched when nursing. As soon as my girls started nursing, it was like insta-thirst. Like I'm gonna die right now if I don't get some liquid! Here's what I kept on my side table: A tube of Lansinoh lanolin creamA Tervis Tumbler with lid and straw by the bedside table. (The lid kept me from having a huge mess to clean up in the middle of the night as I fumbled around for a drink. Who needs that!?)A packet of Ritz crackers for a midnight snack. Babies suck down so many calories, nursing always left me hungry.Tissues for myself (my darn allergies)My phone, for googling tips and reading (yes I broke my own rule #3 sometimes!) Having water on hand helped me to get back to bed that much quicker after a nursing session!

9- Celebrate The Small Stuff

If you're like me and have more than one child, it never fails that the day your newborn sleeps a bit longer is the day one of your other children wakes up SUPER early. It's always in the morning that I wish I'd gone to bed earlier! HA! But in those moments, at least I can rejoice that my baby is getting good sleep. Mia set the camera up in their guest bedroom, making sure it was positioned on the tripod as it should be. She had bought one to use along with a cord from Best Buy to use her laptop as a monitor. She needed to make sure she was in the frame while she spoke to the camera and her potential followers. She chose their guest bedroom not sure if Tyler would want their home pictured on her channel or himself for that matter. She was happy about the set up and she could finally start filming for the day now, considering she didn’t have class this was the perfect time to make her first video and intro. She wanted to create these vlogs for their child originally, but she had discovered along the way that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to post the videos on YouTube as well. It would be great memories for the future and some of their friends and family could potentially watch on as they journeyed into parenthood together.

Mia got back up and shifted the camera a little zooming in before she sat back down in the chair in the room having shifted it to her advantage. She was so lucky to have bought Tyler a camera for Christmas, he had opened it and used it, but he didn’t use it as much as she assumed, he would when she got the gift. It didn’t matter now; she had a memory card in the camera and had gotten a tripod so there was nothing to lose and honestly, she had everything she needed. It was nothing to it but to do it, so here she was. “Hi” she said to the camera, it was so different because in all honesty she was talking to herself in the room. “My name is Mia Carter, welcome to my vlogging channel MC Vlogs and if you want to see firsthand me embarking on this journey into motherhood, just keep on watching” she said recording her intro. Did she like that? Was it too cheesy or maybe not interactive enough? To staged perhaps? It would do, she was new to this and she was sure it would become easy along the way but for right now that would work. She still had to learn to edit and that was a totally different ball game.  

Once she did that Mia began to speak “hey guys, welcome to my channel. I am fairly new to Youtube” she said as she combed her hand through her newly washed and pressed hair. Mia had removed the wig she sported all while in Paris and had, had her natural hair pressed and parted down the middle. “My name is Mia Carter, I am a twenty-one-year-old married, University of Houston student” she said with a smile. “And I am expecting my first child with my husband” she lingered with a bright smile. “Um,” she paused thinking for a moment “I wanted to document my entire pregnancy, for myself and for our child” she said toying with her hands. “When I first found out I was pregnant, I pretty much toyed with the idea of documenting it all I just wasn’t sure how I’d do it or even if my husband would mind if I did” she said honestly. “However, I personally thought this would be very fun and very memorable, for a first-time mother and even a newlywed” she shrugged. “So, if you read the title to this video you know that this is pretty much our introduction to Youtube” she said.

“I got on my social media and made a poll asking people if I should do a Q & A video and a lot of my followers voted that I should do one as my first video” she said. “So that is what we are going to do” she said happily as she grabbed her phone. Mia unlocked her phone and moved to collect the questions she screenshotted into her camera roll licking her lips. She shifted in the chair and fixed her blouse before she said “okay, I am just going to dive right into the questions and try to get through as many as I can” she said to the camera lens.

“First question, what is your major?” Mia read off before she lowered her phone. “I am a Business Marketing major with a minor in Sales” she said to the camera. “I am a junior, so I am fairly close to graduating which I am very excited about” she said nodding her head. “It is a lot of math, a lot of business proposals and even more strenuous stuff but I love it” she chuckled.

“Second question how did your husband react to you being pregnant?” she breathed before she giggled softly to herself. “Honestly speaking, my husband is very attentive. So, he knew I was pregnant before I honestly did” she confessed. “Us finding out was more confirmation for him than anything” she stressed talking with her hands, her phone still in her right one. “So, he was very excited and very happy essentially. He wasn’t really shocked, but he was very excited and very, very supportive” she said with a smirk tucking some hair behind her ear.

“Third question, how did you find out you were pregnant?”, she sat her phone in her lap and said “well” another chuckle leaving her lips. “Well, honestly again like I said before I did not think I was pregnant” she told the camera. “I was sleepy all the time and just didn’t feel well. I threw up here and there” she listed “and honestly, I just thought that I was stressed. Like I mentioned my major is kind of tough sometimes and the current semester I am in has been kicking my butt honestly. So, I chucked it up as that” she said honestly. “However, one day while I was napping in the room my husband brought home some test and he made me some lunch. I think he made me soup, got me crackers” she said counting on her fingers “he also had something to drink for me and he brought it in on a tray into the bedroom” she mused at the thought of it even now. “We took the test together and I was too nervous to wait so he did” she said smiling “and he came in and showed me the test and said ‘we are pregnant’ which he kind of already knew anyway” she told them. “We were over the moon” she said picking her phone back up.

“Do you think you are too big to have a baby? You are just going to get bigger” Mia read off, she was trying to be transparent so though the question was hurtful she still read it. Looking up she sighed “um” she said thinking “I do understand I am a plus-sized woman and no I don’t think me carrying a child and me being plus-sized is a concern of mine and should not be of yours” she said outright her shoulders shrugging. “I am not the first plus-sized person to have a baby and I won’t be the last. So, no I don’t think I am to big” she said using air quotes “to have a baby” she answered. “Hope that answers that” she commented as she looked back to the list.

“Question number five, are you scared to have a baby at your age?” Mia read aloud before she looked to the camera seriously. “I am nervous” she said nodding her head “but I am sure any first-time mother would be, right?” she chuckled. “I don’t fear the labor and delivery as much as I just fear how much the human body endures during it. You have so many horror stories out there about what black women have to face and how a lot of them sadly enough pass during childbirth and other complications. I am staying steadfast and I know God is watching over us both and that’s what I hang on to” she said nodding her head. “Birth doesn’t scare me as much, if that is what you wanted to know” she shrugged easily.

“Number six, do you and your husband plan to finish school while having a baby?” she breathed out before she looked up again. “Yes” she said nodding her head “my husband and I will be finishing school” she said to the lens. “I guess I have to give some background about that, he and I both attend the same university and we both plan to finish school. I am still enrolled, and I still attend classes. We took a small break to celebrate both our engagement and pregnancy in Paris for the month of February essentially, but we are finishing off this semester and our next year in school” she said thoughtfully.

“Why didn’t your husband make you get an abortion?” Mia read and furrowed her brows before she looked up. She pursed her lips up at the camera before she said, “well why would he?” she asked in return very confused. “We were engaged when we found out. We have our own place. We both actively attend school. He works every day. And my husband wants to have children, so why would we not have this baby?” she asked again as she raised as brow before she looked back down chuckling, “next question” she said aloud with a snort and a head shake.

“When did you and your husband get married and why did you get married so young?” Mia said with a heavy sigh before she shifted in her seat and she brought one leg up in the chair before she said. “We got married on February 15th, 2020 exactly one day after Valentine’s Day and while we were in Paris, France. We took a trip to Paris like I said to celebrate both the baby and our engagement. Both were very fresh” she said factually. “He surprised me with a trip to the Eiffel Tower, I thought we were just going to tour the landmark and make take cute pics” she chuckled “but we actually ended up getting married in the Eiffel Tower, there was a dinner set up and priest there waiting for us. It was a total surprise for me” she said resting her hand on her chest. “My husband told me what was going on and we kind of just did it. It was very spontaneous and adventurous” she explained “and we did it because we wanted to and because it was on our own terms”, she told them. “Our age doesn’t really play a factor because love doesn’t discriminate, and it isn’t bias” she shrugged.

“Did you plan to start a family in Texas? If not, how do you feel now that you are pregnant and haven’t relocated? Question number nine” Mia said as she tapped her finger against her chin. “Honestly I have not thought much on that. I am not a Texas native which is probably why you asked that” she giggled. “Originally I am from Chicago. But I would never have thought to raise a family there” she said matter-of-fact as she pointed to the camera. “Texas it pretty okay” she nodded her head “I don’t mind it at all, and I am not sure if my husband and I would ever move. My parents are here and so is his, not to mention all of our friends so…. I am pretty okay with us establishing a family here for right now” she said with a head nod.

“I saw on your IG that you got your husband a dog, how are you guys going to handle a new pet and a new baby?” Mia read and she nodded “good question” she said with a chuckle. “I got my husband a pet Pitbull for Valentine’s Day. I just happened to notice that he’s keen to dogs and a Pit fits his personality” she shrugged “so I thought it would be a cool gift” she told them. “His name is King, and he is the cutest little thing right now I got him as a puppy” she said thoughtfully. “Far as the question goes, I don’t think it would be hard we can both handle him pretty well. He would have grown a lot by the time I actually have the baby, so I am sure my husband will make it his business to make sure he’d taken care of just so I don’t have to, but we would share the responsibility. I think King is going to be a big baby because he already acts like one” she chuckled. “He’s a cute little sweetie pie” she said already in love with the dog herself.

“Weren’t you a virgin?” Mia read and she rolled her eyes before she said “no” she said to the camera. “Wasn’t really a virgin” she said using air quotes “I had been with a few other people before Tyler” she said as she moved on not going into details about that at all. There was more to it but that was for her and Tyler to know, they had discussed it among each other and that, was that.

“Did you plan to get pregnant right now? Your best friend is also pregnant. It looks like you guys planned it” Mia read the next question from her phone and she licked her lips. “This question amuses me the most” she said pointing to the phone. “I have a best friend; we’ve known each other since high school. She is also pregnant right now, but we did not plan this” she chuckled as she lifted her hands defensively. “Plus, she’s about 13-14 weeks ahead of us so yeah no” she said shaking her head with another chuckle. “It is a lucky coincidence and I am very happy about it honestly. To both be pregnant now and experience it together is very surreal” she said happily to the camera.

“Do you plan on buying another house or staying in the same one you have?” she read as she thought about it before she shook her head. Mia looked at the ceiling before she said “honestly” shrugging her shoulder as she looked to the camera. “We live in a penthouse right now and it is comfortable for us. I am content with it. I am in the guest room right now, which we would be converting into a nursery when the time is right” she said with a head nod. “And it is just the perfect space, it’s a high rise, near the campus. I love it” she said shifted her posture in the seat. “So, no we aren’t looking for anything right now and I doubt we would” she told them. “It’ll just be us three for a while I am sure.”

“How did you and your husband start dating? What was your first date like?” she read, and she took another sip of her melting drink. “We have always known each other” she said outright, “we hung out often because we have mutual friends” she told them truthfully. “One day he just decided to make the move” she said shrugging with a laugh. “He sent me a text and asked me did I want to go to dinner with him and I was like yeah” she shrugged with a chuckle, “we were cool we were friends so why not?” she asked the screen. “We ate, we talked, did our normal thing” she breathed. “And if I can be totally transparent it was a passion thing” she shrugged “we had sex after our first date, and we’ve been hooked ever since” she said shrugging as she lifted her hands. “To know me is to understand that I just wasn’t raised that way, however I believe that is my husband and I’s love language” she said thinking to herself. “We are just two very passionate people and after our first time, everything else kind of fell in place” she said gesturing with her hands.

“How did your husband propose?“ Mia read off and she said with a smirk on her face “it was very intimate. Very straight forward” she said nodding her head as she recalled the memories. “My husband is a very straight forward person so naturally he said exactly what he had to. It was in the comfort of our own home which I loved because I can be outgoing” she chuckled at herself “but really I am very private and I am a stickler for small things. I did not need a lavish proposal at all” she said to the camera. “So I wish I could tell you guys about this huge hot air balloon extravaganza” she chuckled “but no it was intimate and very personal, which captures our entire relationship honestly” she said nodding her head eyebrows wiggling with a smile as she picked her phone back up.

“Next” Mia sung out sweetly “Are you going to finish school? “ she said her excitement fleeting “answered that one and again, yes we are finishing school. This baby will not stop the bag or the degree” she chuckled quietly as her fingers continued to scroll down her phone.

“Will your child wear all designer clothing? Since you are already buying the baby designer things and posting it?” she read licking her lips. Mia sat the phone down and she grabbed her drink and took another sip before she sat it down. “Uh” she said as she thought to herself “well, I don’t know” she said slowly before she smirked. “I bought the baby a cute Gucci robe and towel set. I thought it was cute as a ‘babies first’ kind of item” she said holding up to fingers suppling the people with an air quote. “Apart from that I also wanted to bring the baby back something from our Paris trip as well. I went into Gucci and thought like I said, it was a cute little set” she said. “Does that mean he or she is going to be Gucci down every day or their lives, no, but mommy and daddy do own articles of clothing that are pricey and designer. Baby or not I am firm believer that you can not only treat yourself to the finer things you should also treat your kids. I have a big problem looking on IG and seeing chicks with red bottoms on and their baby has on some damn keds” she said with a disgusted look. She held up her hand and made a gesture across her neck “cut it out” she said a hardy chuckle leaving her lips. “It’s not cute boo” she added with that “so though no I don’t intend to blow a bag on the baby because after all it is a baby. Don’t expect me to be dressed to the T and my baby not be. Nope” she said shaking her head as she picked her phone back up.

“Okay” Mia breathed as she shifted in the seat again “last but not least, question number twenty, the last question I am going to answer. Do you want to have a boy or girl?” she read aloud with a mountain of amusement in her voice. She looked back at the camera and she smiled brightly “honestly I don’t know. I have tried to will myself to not think about it too much” she said seriously. “And, for the most part I have not leaned towards one over the other” she said shifting. “My husband wants exactly one boy and one girl” she told the camera. “So, I know he’d be happy either way. I honestly would be happy either way as well. If I wanted to choose which gender came first” she said rewording the question with a grin. “I would say boy, only because I would love to have a little boy that looks just like my husband dimples, freckles, and all but I am truly happy with whatever we are blessed with” Mia said thoughtfully.
