he’s so humiliated, first of all. he has this tail and these triangle ears and he can purr, and he’s not totally in control of it?? you’re telling him that if he’s happy, his tail’s going to move on its own and he can’t stop it???? he literally just wants to die. this is so fucking embarrassing.

but then chrysi’s delighted (she’s trying not to seem too happy, since, like, yeah, it’s a curse. she should want to break it. but he’s purring rn and she thinks it’s very, very cute), and jacks is like. well, at least i have her affection…. he wants her soooooo bad. eventually, he gets used to it—but he’s still not very happy abt his tail. it’s annoying dressing around it, and again. he doesn’t control how it moves sometimes :((( ppl are making FUN OF HIM!!!!!

versus azure, who got cursed and was like. wouldn’t even notice with the type of shit going on. out of all the curses to be affected by, this one’s p minor. plus, chrysi likes it. he likes it. it’s nice being able to purr :)) he’s a lot more catlike than jacks, so he doesn’t care at all.

nitw chrysijacks au!!! tell me more abt it im so invested i love nitw!! do they get to be animals too...if they were animals what would they be!!!

AAAAH, okay okay, so it’s still a work in progress bc i haven’t decided if i want to have chrysi be in mae’s position but with elements of bea, or if i want jacks to be in mae’s position and have chrysi be mostly bea with just a hint of cole (bc i think chrysi would’ve absolutely left town for a bit), but as of writing this.. i’m erring towards chrysi as mae, since she defs can perceive things that most ppl can’t, plus she’s charismatic and generally a mess.

i was thinking chrysi shows up a couple days before her bday & you know. dismembered arm is found as usual. YES, chrysi’s thrilled abt this!!! VERY important to know!!! honestly, it’s a relief for her to find that arm, bc the vibes in that diner were in SHAMBLES. she was rlly trying to avoid eye contact w jacks and jacks was staring her down w his laser eyes. put those things AWAY, it’s literally four in the afternoon…

the party scene happens on chrysi’s bday itself, and guess who FUCKING FORGOT IT WAS HER BDAY. when the rest of their friends arrive at the party later (bc unfortunately, chrysi had to drive jacks out. she’s going to scream. that’s the worst, most awkward car ride over ever) & wish her happy bday, jacks is like “😦 oh………. happy birthday……….” <- has been in the same space as her for the past two hours. like. damn.

JACKS is the one that gets drunk (saw an ex, to which chrysi says, “you can’t run away from the town’s population”, since jacks is a serial dater), so chrysi takes him home and it’s the worstttt. she should’ve stayed at college. ((actually, jacks asks why she came home.. he’s rlly glad but he’s worried for her. unfortunately for him, he does NOT phrase it like that and chrysi gets even angrier w him))

they start repairing their relationship right around the same time chrysi starts seeing cult members / having fucked up dreams. so mostly, jacks comments on how exhausted and ill she looks. you really know how to compliment a girl, don’t you??

on one of their outings, chrysi finds out that jacks hasn’t rlly dated anyone in a while (omg.. theyre both single at the same time again.. which hasn’t occurred since jacks ruined their makeout session in senior year of high school!!!! wrow!!!!!) but anyway. still have to unpack allllllll the drama of high school before it goes anywhere.

their halloween celebration is fun.. i think that jacks would jst tag along w chrysi…. she’d win at the water balloon toss & they’d both laugh at their fortunes being read & jacks suspiciously goes missing when chrysi’s asked to cover for the witch play the town’s putting on. i jst think they need to reminisce abt halloween celebrations past… they neeeeeeed to kiss abt this, but they will NOT!!! never ever!!!!

jacks is the first to agree to research ghosts w chrysi <333 ughhh, he wants her so bad. does he believe in ghosts?? well.

THE SCENE IN THE WOODS, WHEN SHE GETS SHOT AT??? JACKS HAS TO BE PHYSICALLY DRAGGED AWAY SO HE DOESN’T ALSO GET SHOT AT. he’s sick with worry the whole time chrysi’s in the hospital. who cares abt the cult member keeping an eye on the appt??? he only cares abt how chrysi’s holding up…

he is dragging chrysi into the appt & picking her up bridal style when she shows up!!! he is putting her on the couch and tucking her in and curling up beside her!!!! they actually have a heart to heart there + chrysi begins to forgive him… before she “falls asleep” against him and jacks falls asleep too.. then chrysi gets up and goes to the woods w/o telling anyone.

jokes on her, bc jacks wakes up within ten minutes of her leaving bc he misses the feeling of her curled up against him. can NOT stop his obsessive crush and hyper-awareness of her. it’s been on overdrive since, like, ninth grade.

he’s the one to yell at her when they show up in the woods. OMG, JACKS ALSO HAS A CROSSBOW!!!! he fucking sucks at shooting at the guy tbh, he’s jst glad he managed to hit him.. then he hands off the crossbow to hold chrysi the whole way into the mines.

i haven’t rlly decided what i wanted to do here, bc i kinda want to deviate & play w story stuff regarding castor’s death.. kinda want it to be the valors that are part of the cult + they’re trying to bring castor back… but i also kinda want to up the level of danger throughout this whole time, so maybe castor’s already been revived as a vampire, but he’s like… super fucked up and ghoulish and nothing like the castor they knew… what if the mines were castor’s living quarters & they were jst trying to protect him?? plus this could mean that jacks can finally choose chrysi over castor !!!!!!! ,,,,mmm, yeah, i’m going to do that.

anyway. chrysi does NOT feel bad abt caving in the mines behind them!!!!!!! bye bye, valors!!! die then!!!!! jacks is a little more like, well, that was maybe not the best course of action? WHO CARES MAN!!!!!!

the story would end w chrysi wishing jacks happy bday (fucked up two and a half weeks there, huh?) + jacks giving chrysi her bday present, bc he felt like an asshole that he a) forgot it was chrysi’s bday, and b) got blackout drunk on it… then they kiss abt it <333 and now they’re a couple!!!!

i wasn’t rlly thinking they’d be OFFICIALLY animals, but i think they’d both have a cat / fox motif…. lots of shirts + trinkets to call to mind those animals for them!!!!!!!!!!!! they should kiss…

DEATH CURSE for ChrysiJacks :) How does it work, who has it, and who destroys the world to bring the other person back?

the current death curse that i’ve rlly been thinking abt is castor steadily poisoning jacks w small doses of his blood whenever jacks starts to remember chrysi… it continues for so long that jacks develops a blood curse (which in turn affects chrysi, since jacks has her blood inside of him. since he’s her fate 🫶🏻 fun for her to realize when she wakes up w essentially the extra evil version of azure’s bad luck curse. a fucking pen exploded in her mouth. you know how gross the taste of ink is???) & he starts hallucinating versions of chrysi that he has “confessionals” with, of a sort.

at first, jacks jst thinks he’s haunted and that chrysi actually died (☹️). all of them are spoken over a phone in his room that’s not connected to anywhere (black phone referenceeee babey!!!). his health takes a sharp decline and, despite mistress luck expressing concern for jacks (because he’s still trying rlly rlly hard to be normal. it’s jst as soon as he goes to his study, he descends into madness), jacks ends up dying.

chrysi grieves from afar, feeling a half of herself die (since she and jacks can sense each other subconsciously… the star lost her fate ☹️). she’s inconsolable and she doesn’t know why.

BUT WAIT!!!!!!!!! daeshim discovers jacks’s fate and GOES BACK IN TIME TO GET CHRYSI TO RETURN HOME BEFORE JACKS DIES!!!!

cue an increasingly fucked timeline / time loop….? where daeshim keeps bringing chrysi back to save jacks from the blood curse. it’s funny because every time jacks sees chrysi for the first time again, he’s like “?? i’ve never seen you haunt me with white hair before??” chrysi’s like “HUH?????” actually, wait, i have a super poorly written version of this scene, let me add it here!

this is chrysi, like, three time loops into this. because YEAH, daeshim keeps bringing the same version of chrysi back over and over again & she keeps her memories of each fucked up timeline. there’s no quicker way for her to forgive jacks for hurting her than watching him die in desperation to get his last words to her. in one of the later loops, chrysi hugs jacks first she sees him and frantically tries to tell him that she cares abt him, even though it seems fake that she’d say that. jacks still dies, but for that time loop…. he rlly seemed touched 🥺.

once chrysi manages to save jacks, btw, his hair starts growing in white 🫶🏻 not immune to the trope of supernatural distress making someone’s hair turn white!!! plus chrysi gets to touch it and go, “our hair matches now… 🖤” and jacks is like “i’m sorry, what’s fucking wrong with my hair???????” oh honey…..

OH BOY. MY FAV TOPIC EVERRRR. bc chrysi and gil are both so similar (protective. defensive of those they love. oblivious to their feelings for convenience reasons) and yet soooo difference (violently codependent versus violently independent, clueless versus astute, off-balance versus deliberately startling) and it’s jst such a fun dynamic.. they complement each other when it gets down to protecting others. they work p well in battle, for example, and for a few shining moments, they feel understood..

but they clash violently when it comes to communication styles. such as: neither of them fucking communicate to save their lives, and it’s accidental on gil’s part and 100% on purpose on chrysi’s part.

idk if i’m making sense, but they’re soooo. they’.re. they are. i meaaaan. yeag.

GILLLL, gil gil gil!!!!!!!!!!! chrysi’s using him most of the time, so whenever she sees gil w someone (coughs, dahlia frm the light novel), she’s like “huh. good for him <3” whereas gil is sweating and crying and throwing up any time he sees chrysi w/ another man. no, he doesn’t have feelings for her. yes, he wants to shrivel up and die when she gives someone else attention that’s not HIM. please, for the love of GOD!!!! he is RIGHT HERE!!!!

gil thinks of chrysi whenever he sees a red dress, a parasol (??? chrysi has used one exactly ONE TIME, i’m NOT sure what’s going on in gil’s head tbh), BOOKS, SO MANY BOOKS, sketchbooks too <33 also pretty ring sets.. oz nearly convinced gil to buy an engagement set for chrysi bc it was so pretty. he was BATTLING to be the devil on gil’s shoulder. shame it didn’t work (oz is kicking rocks and pouting down the street. plan foiled.)

okay, time to put au thoughts into words,,,,, thinking of an 1800s vampire au wherein chrysi and azure meet as chrysi being a debutante in new england society (jacks very helpfully being her chaperone, which is the worst fucking idea anyone could have. obviously it was jacks’s idea in the first place. anyway, he’s off making out w someone when chryzure meet) and azure is visiting family.

there, they fall in love, and p soon they both figure out they’re vampire hunters (plus more, but vampire is the focus rn..), which defs adds to the depth of their connection w each other.

unfortunately, castor (who is also a huge part of new england society) dislikes this pairing, since he’s had his eyes on chrysi for a while. he’s also a vampire hunter (??? well, like, it’s less his focus.. i feel he more likes the thrill of the hunt + vampires make good game), so he’s annoyed that it didn’t make him and chrysi connect the way it made chrysi and azure connect. add a bit of hatred for france in general and castor cannot stand azure’s existence <333

((jacks is also technically aware of vampires + the fact that chrysi’s a vampire hunter. he’s also technically part of, like, that brotherhood (for lack of a better term), but he’s rlly lazy and not rlly good at fighting, so he’s jst kinda their lapdog. he gets to hang out at the clubhouse. he plays checkers w/ the librarian there. sometimes he gets his ass kicked in chess vs azure. it’s fun))

anyway, LOTS happens, but long story short, castor was getting a bit too scary for chrysi when they were both hunting a vampire down together, and while she was trying to put distance between them, a vampire took castor down + turned him. chrysi heard him struggle, but she decided it was better to run away (even though she knew she had to fight castor again once he was a vampire… listen, it was a bad night for her, okay.)

little more goes on, but she goes to azure for comfort.. azure promises to protect her though!!! so, like, a couple days later, he winds up outside bc he decided to get info on the castor front from the rest of the vampire hunters, and ummm. castor essentially kidnaps azure en route, and takes him to his.. lair ??? more like his townhouse that he made into a vampire-safe den. he hasn’t graduated to getting his own underground crypt system, okay, give him a chance!!!!

there, castor bites azure + initiates the first part of turning… azure resists his hunger (his self control…) until he passes out. when he wakes up, though, he finds himself covered in gold and red blood + its smeared over his mouth + he doesn’t feel desperately hungry.

turns out, castor kidnapped chrysi as well (who’d gone out looking for azure. it’s not like she’s cowering at home 🤨) and when he tried to jst take a little of her blood to fully turn azure, he got, uh, a little over-exuberant. and killed her. his self control is not as good as azure’s.

obvi azure’s horrified, but he also knows he didn’t kill chrysi in a fugue state bc he would absolutely never ever do that. and he gets castor to confess it, in a roundabout way!!!! but castor decides this is for the best—that azure’s blamed for chrysi’s death and that he’s stuck as a vampire now bc of her blood.. poetic justice, or whatever.

anyway, castor tells jacks that azure got turned into a vampire and killed chrysi, which destroys jacks. afterwards, he becomes a fate to deal w the heartbreak, but he still never believes azure (who castor had to set free bc azure’s actually a much scarier vampire than castor… don’t turn a witch into a horrifying undead creacher, maybe..). after a certain point, azure doesn’t even bother. his soulmate is dead… he will never see her again :((

jump forward to present time, where he befriends connie + tells him his secret. connie honestly doesn’t hesitate to believe him (something that vaguely concerns azure, but okay). their friendship gets to the point where azure tells connie his whole backstory and connie is literally sniffling and going through a whole tissue box. that’s SO fucking sad… what the FUCK…

anyway, connie and azure have lots of boy’s nights out (it’s the only thing azure CAN do), and during one, they go to a piano recital bc connie’s coworker is playing in it!!!! her name’s diane, and she’s rlly pretty and cool!!!!!!

yeah, so, chrysi walks up to them after the recital and interjects w something to do w their convo, and azure looks up and HUH!!!!!! HIS SOULMATE IS HERE!!! SHE’S RIGHT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!! but connie’s like, “ohhh, hey diane, this is azure :) he’s my good friend :)” chrysi’s like, “hmmmm. let me introduce myself to him w my actual name: chryseis diana 😇” and then connie goes dead silent. what the fuck. his coworker is azure’s reincarnated soulmate. the FUCK is this!!!!!!!

but ummm chrysi actually has all her memories of her past life (all sorta scattered, but enough to have a grasp on the situation—helps that she’s still a paranormal investigator of sorts) and she and azure fall in love again <33 soulmatism. and azure helps her fill the gaps of her past memories!!

jacks, meanwhile, figures out chrysi’s alive and keeps trying to a) remind her that he exists too (okay. needy.), and b) separate her from azure. “didn’t you know in your past life he killed you?” “well, you’re wrong abt that, but even if he did, so what? that’s romantic.” ???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also, jacks eventually discovers that the lie castor told him was.. a lie. so. that’s also not very fun for him to figure out.

thennnnn castor finds out she’s alive again, and THAT’S a whole headache. but w/e, i’ll stop hereeeeeeeee

what are chrysi and azures fav flavours??? what do u imagine their voices to sound like owo!! what are flowers that u think represent chryzure + chrysijacks best....and also any songs that ur listening to rn that remind u of chrysijacks/chryzure??

chrysi’s fav flavors are p much cherry + strawberry!! she likes the colors red and pink in flavor <333 azure’s fav flavors are green tea or chai, maybe?? he likes subtler flavors… that said, he won’t say no to chocolate!!

their voices are harder to pinpoint for me… i think chrysi’s voice is a little lower, more of an alto… i think abt it in terms of singers (her speaking voice varies from time to time, but it’s generally something that’s a mid-range, alto, a bit rough? jst in terms of how irreverent her tone can affect her speaking), so i’d say the closest music artist would be the singers in the crane wives? and i can’t tell if it’s jst bc i associate lots of allie x songs w chryzure, but i think allie x has a voice somewhat like chrysi. it’s a bit higher than i’d assign chrysi, but do you get where i’m coming from? also chrysi has a bit of a boston accent on certain words, even though she grew up in salem, massachusetts… it’s close enough!!!

azure’s defs a tenor and his voice tends to be a whole lot smoother. almost musical? the rhythm with which he speaks is very influenced by the different languages he learned, so it makes his words come out with interesting pauses and such. his french accent doesn’t rlly slip out frequently, since he had an accent tutor growing up,, his father rlly wanted azure to fit in no matter where he went. unfortunately, azure does not fit in,,, anyway, ummm, probably bc i also associate a lot of tamino w chryzure, i think tamino gives me vv strong azure vibes in terms of speaking (once juno compared tamino’s appearance w azure’s and i bluescreened, so. take that fun fact as well!!!! sighs…. <33)

flowers to represent chryzure,,, i always think of wisteria?? i think it fits them vv well frm appearance-wise to “wistful” being a word i associate w both wisteria and chryzure. i dunno if this makes sense, but also, i looked up the meanings + some of them mentioned new beginnings, longevity and endurance, patience and honor… that’s chryzure <333 they are wisteria!! (side note, i also vv associate weeping willows w chryzure!)

chrysi: ohhh hmmmm…………………….. she’s the hardest to answer for, i feel, since so much of who she is boils down to “paranormal investigator of various flavors”………. she’d go too stir-crazy if she was an artist or an illustrator in any professional regard, and she deliberately didn’t pursue any type of concert pianist position since the competition would’ve driven her batty (triggered her bipolar disorder too badly)… srry to be stereotypical, but i think she would be a detective of sorts. :((. i cannot think of anything else besides mortician, but even that’s not exciting enough for chrysi unless there’s a constant string of demonic possessions <///3 sighs.

gil: literally. like. not to be lame, but probably as a detective or something… a private detective perhaps… it’s basic, i know. i would say he could be a bodyguard maybe, but it doesn’t fit his VIBE. he smokes so much because he’s a detective on a difficult case okay!!!! no, chrysi doesn’t have this problem but that’s because she didn’t think oscar vessalius looked cool as hell when she was growing up!!!….. truthfully, i think gil doesn’t know where to go with his profession, so he jst chose the one that he felt would make him be most needed. ((in reality, he should’ve jst become a housewife 🙄 he’s already an excellent role model for every single woman in the neighborhood!!! HOUSEWIFE GIL, HOUSEWIFE GIL!!!!!))

chrysi: difficult to say because of her various songs, but she defs falls into alternative rock / indie rock the most.. plus she loves any type of piano music since she’s a pianist 🥰

jacks: he’s into pop. i mean… like. yeah. and then a liiiiitle bit of electroswing, but he doesn’t tell anybody about that, now does he.

azure: generally he’s also an alternative music type of person, but he tends to err more towards melancholy music. also, he likes french pop. who knew?

gil: i think primarily pop punk. idk, whatever genre fall out boy is. he jst seems the type to have an intense fall out boy phase <///3 (because i was having a fall out boy phase when i first read the manga 💀 i can admit my wrongs). also, i think he’d listen to classical music, but he’s picky abt it and he tries not to let ppl know he’s picky abt it because he doesn’t want ppl to judge him :((

what they love: physical

chryzure: chrysi loves azure’s pretty eyes and hair so very much…. she likes running her fingers through his curls and looking him in the eyes :) ALSO she likes his long legs + collarbones because. obvi.

azure likes her neck 😌 it’s a very good place for him to kiss. he also thinks her face is nice to hold in his hands because she’s always batting her eyelashes and smiling up at him. OH WAIT, chrysi also has two little crescent moon marks—one on the edge of her rib cage and the other on the opposite hip, and azure likes those vv much bc. his symbol is a. crescent moon…. he has a crescent moon mark behind his ear……… that’s his wife gf soulmate…….. mark-bonded 🥺 ((this was an accidental move on my part and then i realized they are soulmates and it makes total sense 🖤🖤🖤)

chrysijacks: DIMPLES. she’s never ever going to admit it out loud, but chrysi loves jacks’s dimples + his smile and skcksiviejjceisjvndk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he sucks!!!! they’re dating.

jacks likes chrysi’s lips sm??? esp since she has a little freckle on her lower lip and he’s mesmerized by it. catch him staring openly at her mouth at all times because he is Going To Kiss Her. He’s Going To Kiss Her So Hard.

chrysigil: she thinks his eyes are a vv pretty gold (like… they feel like there’s life to it, versus her own (eventually) pale-gold eyes that r scary) and OBVIOUSLY SHES NOT GOING TO IGNORE HIS LITTLE THIGH HOLSTER FOR HIS PISTOL!!!!!!!!!! she is looking respectfully.

gil…. he likes how small chrysi is??? jst because he likes protecting ppl & when he holds her, she is so small and he likes the feeling of protecting her from the world……….. :)

what they love: non-physical

chryzure: chrysi loves azure’s practical nature (and how he leans into that to make countless deadpan jokes….. she thinks his sense of humor is top-notch) because it helps keep her grounded. azure, on the other hand, likes the way that chrysi’s so bright and outgoing and ruthless and that she experiences every single strong emotion, because it helps him feel less like a one-note person.,,,, they break up each other’s monotony and keep each other from falling into their various hells….

chrysijacks: chrysi likes how jacks is a schemer, even though she makes fun of him for it 🖤 she thinks it’s cute how he’ll always try something new and he’s vv determined and one-minded about things in a way to add interest to his life. jacks rlly likes how ruthless and cruel chrysi can be at the same time as being kind and good. it should be contradictory, but for chrysi, it makes sense….. her strong moral code fascinates him sm!!!!

chrysigil: chrysi likes how devoted gil is + how caring he is at his core. he loves helping people and it draws her to him (even though she tries to keep herself at a distance because she feels she cannot trust her heart with anyone after losing azure..,,,,,,, ;;;; ). gil likes chrysi’s own brand of caring for others and how everything she does is for the good of others (but it distresses him that it’s always done at her own expense… girl, STOP, you’re making gil want to cry ;; ) PLUS gil thinks chrysi’s curiosity is vv cute 😌

the moment they fell in love

chryzure: truly…. i think it was literally jst them doing something normal.. like when azure knew precisely where chrysi would be in the bookstore because he knew she visits the horror section first, and when he found her there and she looked up, she realized nobody else knew her quite as well as azure….. and when they were walking home, they decided to hold hands instead of keep them to themselves and they were looking up at the stars together and they kissed…… yeah :)

chrysijacks: a little more difficult, BUT i think right after jacks nearly drowned for chrysi, when chrysi realized he loved her and she realized she loved him back…! that she didn’t want anything bad to happen to jacks (even though he deserves it) and she liked being in his company… and that was when chrysi allowed herself to sink into jacks’s embrace 🥰 that was it. the moment of love. took long enough.

chrysigil: this is a messy one, but honestly, it’s way deeper into their relationship than you might think… like long after they’ve established themselves to be a Thing, where they’re close to each other and chrysi will kiss gil on occasion, but they don’t have a name for it. it’s after chrysi is saved from her own follies (i.e. waltzing off to take care of an investigation on her lonesome, when she was wildly emotional and not in her right mind) when gil is holding her in his hands and urging her to look into his eyes as he’s chastising her for not caring for herself and that everyone cares about her—and, yes, that includes him too!!!!… that’s when chrysi and gil lock eyes and it’s like “oh. oh, i see. we both love each other.” AUGH!!!!!

what do chryzure/chrysijacks do for halloween? what does jacks think abt halloween? what does he think abt horror movies? do you have any top 5 moments or scenes in other media that make u think of chryzure?

chryzure is staying home and watching horror movies and playing horror video games (……….well, chrysi’s playing the horror games. azure is watching while he plays w the cats) and eating candy… they’re vv lowkey on halloween because they don’t need anyone but each other :) besides, chrysi feels like the halloween spirit is more fun when they go to the halloween parties BEFORE halloween because she likes having that day to her and azure.

chrysijacks is jacks dragging chrysi to a halloween ball + decking her out in a gorgeous gown and all her jewelry :3 jacks is also like. wearing adequate clothes. he’s not as pretty as chrysi unfortunately. anyway there are definitely Creachers afoot, along with curses, so chrysijacks halloween tends to be spent doing work :((( this is part of the reason chrysi tries to stay in on halloween bc she SWEARS that she attracts curses when she’s out and about on halloween.

related to that last one, emery likes to throw a lot of halloween parties at the house, so chrysi’s always like “:) awesome :) so many civilians to be in danger :) haha :)” and jacks is trying to distract her from her stress. at this point, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. THAT SAID, chrysi will happily bake halloween treats for emery + she wants her niece to have friends, so she won’t ever tell emery to stop throwing halloween parties. jst…. start doing it earlier in the month <333

this is only marginally related to those other ones, BUT i rlly like chrysijacks (w past chryzure, since azure is also there… yes this is my haven au for them) costume party with a murder mystery / curse twist to it…. jst feels nice and cozy and vv like something jacks was like “this will be a fun way to spend halloween, i swear everything will be fine this time :) yes, i’m renting out a haunted house. no, nothing will go wrong” <- FOOL.

i think that jacks would only enjoy halloween bc of the social life aspect… he likes going to parties. he likes the thrill of doing things. it’s a very busy time of year :) but he doesn’t understand the hype around the spooky-specific part of halloween, since he’s lived for so long (plus….. it scares him a little bit……….. :((……)

What are Chrysi's thoughts on trick or treating? Asking for... a friend...

she enjoys taking her littles trick-or-treating because while they’re walking around, she’ll tell them ghost stories!! plus she has a candy tax at the end of the night and it’s funny watching oz and alice debate over what’s the candy chrysi will like but the candy that they don’t want.

but for herself?? she doesn’t rlly tend to trick-or-treat. she loves dressing up + seeing kids dress up + she likes handing out candy!!!

also when she’s going out and about with the littles, she’s also doing her rounds on halloween. she wishes she could enjoy the holiday itself, but that evening tends to be really dangerous in terms of ghosts and ghouls.

that said, she will always make time to go to a halloween party her friends throw (because if she didn’t go and dress up, jacks would be very annoying over it.)

OH, SIDE NOTE: chrysi has a Thing where she has to dress up as something she is for halloween. this limits her costumes to a cheerleader, witch, tech crew… she has to get specific with it. the reason for this is that chrysi watched the episode of buffy the vampire slayer where everyone turned into their halloween costumes and buffy turned into a useless princess. DEEPLY concerning for chrysi. there still has not been a curse similar to that, but you never know. it could happen.

EXTREMELY CLICHÉ, but i adore “trapped in a small space together” trope…. writing it is fun, reading it is fun—because you’re Stuck There!!! so it’s time to forcibly progress this relationship!!! BONUS POINTS IF ONE IS CLAUSTROPHOBIC, so the other has to think of ways to distract them!!! when it’s done right… oh yeah, it’s EXCELLENT.

also wearing the other one’s clothes… irl, it jst makes me happy when ppl steal my clothes (not in a romantic sense, jst more in a !!!!!! we’re friends and you trust me and i trust you!!!!!), so obvi i LOVE it in writing too!! i esp love chryzure where chrysi’s wearing azure’s sweaters and she’s so tiny in them!! plus vice versa, where azure wears chrysi’s oversized hoodies and it fits him nicely and she’s like “oh…….. that looks very nice on you………….” struck through the heart with an arrow!!! blame cupid!!!

oh, wait wait, more serious answer—writing and reading forced arranged marriage that slowly turns to love is also something i love. the mirror visitor series did it impeccably, but i ESP love when it’s like “i can’t tell if you actually love me or if the marriage made you change your mind” “who cares? we’re together now and i love you because of it. why deny ourselves this?” AHHHH, GOING CRAZY, GOING WILD.

okay hmmm, some fun twists i have on tropes…. suddenly, i have forgotten every story idea or scene snippet i have thought abt ever.

OH, OKAY, WAIT I HAVE ONE!!! so yk the trope where someone pulls their friend/lover off someone they’re beating up??? well, azure will pull chrysi off someone she is violently attacking (it’s deserved) and she’ll jst dangle in his arms like a blood-stained kitten. he doesn’t put her down. her feet can’t reach the ground :((( and then, similar to the second lilo & stitch movie, if the person makes a snarky comment that pisses both azure and chrysi off, he’ll jst go “actually.” and release chrysi to attack once more. he supports chrysi’s violence 🖤

another (less happy) one is the idea that true love DOES conquer all…. but there’s a price for it :((( so, YES, azure WILL save chrysi—he’ll defy all odds and fix everything!!!… but he’s gone for good now. he’s dead. he can’t come back and haunt chrysi—she doesn’t even get the relief of being able to see his ghost. that’s the case in the chrysigil story… azure breaks all laws of nature to save his chryseis, and that’s all he has the strength for. it hurts, but i love it. the love didn’t last, but it was still there! it mattered because it was beautiful and fragile and it was love—doesn’t mean it wins every time. stephanie simply couldn’t understand such a concept, smh

I ADOREEEE red eyes + curly/messy hair, DARK EYES, MY BELOVED!!!! all my characters all have some sort of freckle or mole or facial mark because i think faces are so fascinating…… i love having unnatural hair colors on my characters as well!!!! and SMILES, making them unique!! like a scar on the lip, or a freckle, or dimples. long hair is also something i LOVE. drawing long hair is SO FUN FOR ME.

ooohhh, top five book characters??? difficult! i’ll make it worse by not mentioning any of chrysi’s book bfs because that’s cheating. also, this isn’t in any particular order, it’s jst in order of who i recall!

lucy carlyle from lockwood and co. !!!! i think she’s such a fun protag, esp since she’s so coarse and rude and imperfect and headstrong!!! i love her, i want to adopt her :)

MISTRESS LUCK, WAIT, HOW COULD I FORGET HER…..: LOVE HER SOSOSO MUCH, SHE DESERVED MORE SCENES. FOR MY PLEASURE. DEEPLY UPSET…. I MISS HER :(((((((( finale’s only flaw was that there was not more of Her 🥰

sir percy blakeney frm the scarlet pimpernel because wow!!!! vigilante leader pretending to be The Stupidest, Most Vain Man Alive?????? the BLUEPRINT for chrysi and her vigilante shenanigans, esp in my 1800s zombie au!!!! everything he does is SO funny to me & i also love all the different iterations of him (i actually endorse both the movie and the musical, despite both being different from the book. i need to read the other books in that series so i can judge those as well!!)

tea & kalen frm the bone witch…. i cannot separate them. they are deeply in love. and they’re so adoring of each other that it makes me cry…. rin chupeco knew what they were doing + i think they should write more romances like that actually……… i do need to read their other books because i love their writing style sm!!!

B how tragically ironic would it be if falling in love with Jacks made Chrysi immortal like Jacks out here trying to comfort himself like 'At least we can be mortal together' and then she's like 'oof yeah I gotta tell you something actually'

HONESTLYYYY, that’s something i’ve been playing with bc like… being around jacks and the other fates definitely doesn’t have a great influence on chrysi, plus she ends up relying too much on her fae powers to get her out of scenarios with fates involved (doesn’t help that fated magic being used on her also triggers her faetelle, which is rlly jst an autoimmune disorder but magic), so yeah!!! not too surprising that she’s becoming more immortal. i DO like to imagine that she’s kinda one of the first “immortals” or immortal-adjacent beings that has a strong hold on love—like she’s immortal because of her love/care for everyone in her life. but that’s not as fun and dramatic as her fearing that she’ll slowly lose her emotions, so… we’ll see if it goes anywhere!!!

isdfuygvfszi I just remembered that AU where Chrysi and Azure were married and then Azure died and Jacks and Chrysi got married and then Azure came BACK TO LIFE... CAN I HEAR MORE ABOUT THIS

YEAH YEAH YEAH, i remember i gave a basic rundown of the au somewhere on this blog, but i don’t know where it is. so. that’s an issue.

ANYWAY, YES!!! chrysi and azure were both the it couple in ghost hunting circles. everyone was either happy for them or jealous of them. and jacks was chrysi and azure’s friend around this time (because jacks being the little accessory pet of that relationship is very funny to me)—but let’s be real, he had the tiniest crush on chrysi.

obviously he respects chrysi and azure’s relationship too much to do anything about it—plus, he’s pursuing someone else instead.

well, long story short, azure dies on one of the cases he and chrysi take on. it was a combination of bad luck, chrysi being in danger, and azure jumping in the way to protect her. he doesn’t remember anything after that because, well, he’s super dead now.

chrysi is destroyed after he dies. she’s found with azure’s body in her arms, and she’s screaming and desperately trying to bring him back to life (azure and her were trying to figure out the extent of her ghost witch powers and azure mentioned that some ghost witches can bring people back to life. clearly chrysi doesn’t know how.) jacks is ultimately the one to drag her away from azure’s body. he’s the only one that can survive her grief.

after that, jacks spends a lot of time with chrysi to help her. she’s a ghost of herself after azure dies and it breaks his heart (he doesn’t realize it’s beating. not yet. but it is.)

eventually, as the years pass, chrysi heals enough and realizes that she likes jacks back. it’s kind of a realization that dawns on both of them after they’ve essentially dated for months. like, chrysi’s making breakfast and jacks is sitting at the table while reading something, and chrysi’s like “so. are we boyfriend and girlfriend?” and jacks is like “………….are we?” i mean, he has been living there, unofficially, and chrysi and jacks have kissed before.

at that point, they start dating.

around this time, emery runs away from home and shows up at chrysi’s doorstep like “hi! you’re my legal guardian now because i can’t stand my mom :)” so their little family gains another person.

when they end up getting married, it’s a really tough decision for chrysi, since she’s still in pain over azure dying. jacks is super patient as she goes through all the stages of grief again, but he’s thrilled when she agrees to a wedding.

it’s a personal wedding. they put up all the pictures of it near the wedding pictures chrysi has with azure (they still have azure’s photos on the walls, since it feels wrong to erase him. as time goes on, it just makes chrysi feel wistful and nostalgic).

things are going great! until chrysi goes out of town and jacks is the one basically in charge of their town’s supernatural-hunting team. nobody should leave jacks in charge.

anyway, some people come back to life in the graveyard. azure is one of them.

he’s incredibly disoriented when he drags himself out of the dirt. you can imagine how fucking disoriented jacks is when he’s called out to the graveyard and sees his wife’s dead husband (and others) suddenly alive.

jacks does not handle this very well. for example: he does not tell chrysi what happened.

(chrysi’s out of town on a girls’ trip with emery and filly and luna rune. he gets the feeling that chrysi would want him to interrupt this bonding time, but he also doesn’t want to tell chrysi that azure’s alive because of this nagging fear that she’ll leave him now that azure’s back)

he instead takes all the resurrected people to a safe house and tells them that they need to stay there. then he calls simeon, who comes in, sees azure, then immediately drags jacks out of the room to yell at him. this is absolutely a situation that requires chrysi’s input.

jacks still refuses to call chrysi (DUDE!!!!) and he doesn’t let azure know what’s going on.

azure, for his part, can tell something’s up. jacks is acting really weird around him and chrysi’s not back yet. as he’s trying to figure out what the hell is going on, conni (also resurrected) sneaks out. he can’t handle being cooped up.

azure chases after conni once he realizes he’s gone.

along the way, they run into some shady individuals that might have something to do with their sudden return to life. it’s not a very safe interaction, and it ends with conni and azure making a break for it.

azure, for fear of leading them back to the safe house, takes a detour. he knows a house in this area with the same magical protections as the safe house, and it’s in the opposite direction. problem solved!

so he breaks into his old house (chrysi keeps the key in the same place, and azure figures it can’t have been that long since his death. um.) and he is greeted by photos of chrysi and jacks all over the walls.

this does not endear jacks to him. and yes, while azure’s somewhat mollified by the fact that his old photos are also still up, he’s in agony over chrysi moving on and choosing to be with jacks.

chrysi happens to come home from the girls’ trip right at this time, which… yikes. she can immediately tell there’s an intruder in the house, so she tells emery to stay in the car while she investigates.

azure and conni (who has jst been awkwardly standing there while azure came to the realization that his wife married his best friend) scramble to hide.

as chrysi walks the house, azure keeps an eye on her through a crack in the door. it hurts, seeing her again—it’s like his body can instinctively tell that it’s been years since he died, and that they’re no longer for each other.

then conni finds an escape route and they get out of there.

back at the safe house, jacks is freaking the fuck out because azure’s no longer there. yes, it’s concerning for azure’s safety or whatever, but most importantly, jacks doesn’t want chrysi to figure out azure’s alive again.

when azure comes storming back into the safe house, jacks begins to yell at him—only for azure to sock him right in the jaw.

right. okay. he didn’t expect that.

thaaaat’s right about when azure starts yelling at him for marrying his wife (“how long did you wait before you forced her to love you?” because even though he knows that chrysi’s immune to jacks’s powers, he still hates the thought of her moving on with jacks). conni wishes he could be recording this. simeon also thinks that jacks deserves this, just a little bit.

meanwhile, chrysi can tell something is off. she drives to the cemetery and finds, oh, well! there are empty graves! awesome! why the hell did nobody tell her about this? as she walks through the graves, she takes note of whose grave is empty. when she gets to azure’s, her blood runs cold.

oh, she needs to have a little talk with jacks. right now.

that’s how she finds azure fucking kicking jacks into the ground, and honestly? deserved.

she had an idea of azure being alive, but seeing him, breathing and real? uhhhhhhhhhhh. uhm!! she doesn’t know what to do.

she does stop azure’s savage beating of jacks (jacks gave up at a certain point lmao, he was jst curled up on himself as he endured), but when she takes jacks into the next room over, she slaps him.

jacks is not having a very good day.

anyway, after that, she goes into Very Professional Mode, and suddenly it’s like she was never married to either Azure or Jacks. she starts trying to figure out precisely what is going on and what the danger is. jacks and azure keep looking at each other with seething rage, but chrysi shuts down any other attacks by reminding them of the situation at hand.

well, around here is when chrysi discovers there’s a range of area that these newly-resurrected people can continue to survive in—evidenced by one of them running away and trying to escape, only to immediately turn to dust and disappear. well, that’s fucking inconvenient.

the more they investigate, the more they discover that the area of survival is shrinking, so that’s also not good.

anyway, in between all this time, when azure finally gains the courage to ask why chrysi married jacks, she looks at him and asks, “would you have wanted me to grieve your death until i died too? did you want me to be alone after you left?” he doesn’t have a very good answer to that. no, he didn’t want her to be alone, but he doesn’t like seeing her with jacks now that he’s back. there are no right answers.

anyway, that’s abt as much as i had planned for this concept,,,,, obviously i love it, but i need to figure out where to go w it now lol

THANK YOU FOR ENABLING ME. I HAVE MANY, MANY THOUGHTS AND I’VE BEEN HELD CAPTIVE BY THEM.

To start: Pleck is a long-time caller for Jacks’s show. He started doing it back when Jacks first started and he was worried that Jacks would want to leave if he didn’t have a successful first show. 

Speaking of that, Chrysi doesn’t hire many new radio personalities for their rinky-dink little radio show. She likes the tight-knit feeling of their station—plus lots of the people that came in on their trial run decided they didn’t like Chrysi’s direction. Especially since Chrysi can come on a bit… strong. 

Jacks ended up joining on the tail-end of his “divorce”. That’s in quotation marks because it was never a legal union, but he did marry Tella in the Fate way. She still stabbed him to divorce him (I know it’s more of a slash in the book, but it’s funnier to say she stabbed him). Anyway, he was not in a great place at the time, which is probably why Chrysi took pity on him and let him join. 

She regrets this now. 

The only person that joins in her current ribbing of Jacks is Faye (the ill-fated coworker that ends up getting infected and projectile vomiting her insides out on the sound booth window <//3). Filly will join in, but sometimes she calls out Chrysi for going a bit too far. 

ANYWAY, back to the whole “Pleck calling in” thing… he does different voices for different characters. He’s painstakingly designed backstories for each of these people as well. Literally everyone in the office knows that he’s the one that does it. They can hear him call from around the corner. 

“Does Pleck know that we can see his number when he calls in?” “He does not.” “Who’s going to tell him?” “Nobody.”

Chrysi’s personal favorite character of Pleck’s is Claude from Arkansas. She thinks the implication of a long-time listener being from Arkansas is hilarious. 

Jacks is almost always late for work. Always. Chrysi was about to strangle Jacks before Filly came up with the idea to tell Jacks that his shift started half an hour earlier. He started showing up on time, miraculously! 

Chrysi is very well known around the office for always having a thermos full of a Drink. At first, everyone thought it was coffee. Then Pleck tried to make Chrysi coffee in an attempt to wake her up and she nearly died from how much she hated the flavor. 

Turns out she drinks the sweetest fruit-flavored things. Jacks makes fun of her until she finds out that he really, really likes apple juice. They are now at a stalemate. 

Lots of listeners will tune in purely to hear Jacks have an argument with Chrysi by the way. They never hear Chrysi’s side of the argument, but they know she’s winning. They know. 

(Lots of them also think that Jacks has a thing for Chrysi, which is true, but not even Jacks realizes it yet.)

Well, that is until Chrysi and Jacks kiss. Accidentally. Before the whole “kill is kiss” thing, even. 

Basically, don’t let Jacks get drunk around a very sleep-deprived Chrysi (she’d also gone through a recent med change, which didn’t help anything). Weirdest ending to an office party ever. 

Nobody else knows that they kissed, though Filly has a sneaking suspicion something happened, because Chrysi got a lot more sarcastic and snappy towards Jacks, and Jacks ended up being a little nicer to Chrysi. Only a little though. 

(Inwardly, Jacks is screaming, because he thought only Tella was immune to his kiss. Now his boss that barely tolerates him is also immune? What’s he supposed to do about this? Fall in love with her? That’s unlikely to happen.)

Chrysi is also vaguely alarmed by the fact that his kiss didn’t kill her. BUT, to be fair, she’s broken a lot of laws of nature before. What’s one more to add to the list? 

OH YEAH, Chrysi and Pleck will design the office decorations for the holidays :) The two of them sometimes will have little crafts parties where they make their holiday decorations. When Filly joins the crew, she begins joining them as well (Chrysi suspects this is in part due to Pleck being there and Filly having a major crush on him). 

The order of everyone joining the crew is Chrysi -> Faye -> Pleck -> Filly -> Jacks btw! Obviously other people had joined the radio and left in the meantime (like… lots of them), but the crew as it stands now is in that order of seniority! 

Chrysi used to be a really big person is journalism also! Like, international level of big! But after she had a huge breakdown, she decided to move back to her hometown. The ghosts of home are more comforting in the end. 

(So when the BBC calls their radio station during everything, they actually ask for Chrysi specifically, since that particular reporter knew her. Jacks is vaguely insulted. Fortunately, Chrysi had his back and told the BBC (via Jacks) that he was the host of the radio show and he was the one that broke the story. He was surprised and touched! Uh oh, his feelings are coming in hard.) 

I’m rambling, so I’ll stop, but I literally love the office camaraderie so much. Just little bits of dialogue come to me ( “Pleck calling in is actually beneficial because it drives up listener engagement. Otherwise nobody would want to talk to Jacks.” “That’s not very nice.” “Neither is Jacks. That’s why our listener engagement is low.” ) and I’m obsessed with Chrysi and Jacks constantly making faces at each other through the sound booth. They want to kiss again so bad (or should I say kill? 😏)
