okay, time to put au thoughts into words,,,,, thinking of an 1800s vampire au wherein chrysi and azure meet as chrysi being a debutante in new england society (jacks very helpfully being her chaperone, which is the worst fucking idea anyone could have. obviously it was jacks’s idea in the first place. anyway, he’s off making out w someone when chryzure meet) and azure is visiting family.

there, they fall in love, and p soon they both figure out they’re vampire hunters (plus more, but vampire is the focus rn..), which defs adds to the depth of their connection w each other.

unfortunately, castor (who is also a huge part of new england society) dislikes this pairing, since he’s had his eyes on chrysi for a while. he’s also a vampire hunter (??? well, like, it’s less his focus.. i feel he more likes the thrill of the hunt + vampires make good game), so he’s annoyed that it didn’t make him and chrysi connect the way it made chrysi and azure connect. add a bit of hatred for france in general and castor cannot stand azure’s existence <333

((jacks is also technically aware of vampires + the fact that chrysi’s a vampire hunter. he’s also technically part of, like, that brotherhood (for lack of a better term), but he’s rlly lazy and not rlly good at fighting, so he’s jst kinda their lapdog. he gets to hang out at the clubhouse. he plays checkers w/ the librarian there. sometimes he gets his ass kicked in chess vs azure. it’s fun))

anyway, LOTS happens, but long story short, castor was getting a bit too scary for chrysi when they were both hunting a vampire down together, and while she was trying to put distance between them, a vampire took castor down + turned him. chrysi heard him struggle, but she decided it was better to run away (even though she knew she had to fight castor again once he was a vampire… listen, it was a bad night for her, okay.)

little more goes on, but she goes to azure for comfort.. azure promises to protect her though!!! so, like, a couple days later, he winds up outside bc he decided to get info on the castor front from the rest of the vampire hunters, and ummm. castor essentially kidnaps azure en route, and takes him to his.. lair ??? more like his townhouse that he made into a vampire-safe den. he hasn’t graduated to getting his own underground crypt system, okay, give him a chance!!!!

there, castor bites azure + initiates the first part of turning… azure resists his hunger (his self control…) until he passes out. when he wakes up, though, he finds himself covered in gold and red blood + its smeared over his mouth + he doesn’t feel desperately hungry.

turns out, castor kidnapped chrysi as well (who’d gone out looking for azure. it’s not like she’s cowering at home 🤨) and when he tried to jst take a little of her blood to fully turn azure, he got, uh, a little over-exuberant. and killed her. his self control is not as good as azure’s.

obvi azure’s horrified, but he also knows he didn’t kill chrysi in a fugue state bc he would absolutely never ever do that. and he gets castor to confess it, in a roundabout way!!!! but castor decides this is for the best—that azure’s blamed for chrysi’s death and that he’s stuck as a vampire now bc of her blood.. poetic justice, or whatever.

anyway, castor tells jacks that azure got turned into a vampire and killed chrysi, which destroys jacks. afterwards, he becomes a fate to deal w the heartbreak, but he still never believes azure (who castor had to set free bc azure’s actually a much scarier vampire than castor… don’t turn a witch into a horrifying undead creacher, maybe..). after a certain point, azure doesn’t even bother. his soulmate is dead… he will never see her again :((

jump forward to present time, where he befriends connie + tells him his secret. connie honestly doesn’t hesitate to believe him (something that vaguely concerns azure, but okay). their friendship gets to the point where azure tells connie his whole backstory and connie is literally sniffling and going through a whole tissue box. that’s SO fucking sad… what the FUCK…

anyway, connie and azure have lots of boy’s nights out (it’s the only thing azure CAN do), and during one, they go to a piano recital bc connie’s coworker is playing in it!!!! her name’s diane, and she’s rlly pretty and cool!!!!!!

yeah, so, chrysi walks up to them after the recital and interjects w something to do w their convo, and azure looks up and HUH!!!!!! HIS SOULMATE IS HERE!!! SHE’S RIGHT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!! but connie’s like, “ohhh, hey diane, this is azure :) he’s my good friend :)” chrysi’s like, “hmmmm. let me introduce myself to him w my actual name: chryseis diana 😇” and then connie goes dead silent. what the fuck. his coworker is azure’s reincarnated soulmate. the FUCK is this!!!!!!!

but ummm chrysi actually has all her memories of her past life (all sorta scattered, but enough to have a grasp on the situation—helps that she’s still a paranormal investigator of sorts) and she and azure fall in love again <33 soulmatism. and azure helps her fill the gaps of her past memories!!

jacks, meanwhile, figures out chrysi’s alive and keeps trying to a) remind her that he exists too (okay. needy.), and b) separate her from azure. “didn’t you know in your past life he killed you?” “well, you’re wrong abt that, but even if he did, so what? that’s romantic.” ???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also, jacks eventually discovers that the lie castor told him was.. a lie. so. that’s also not very fun for him to figure out.

thennnnn castor finds out she’s alive again, and THAT’S a whole headache. but w/e, i’ll stop hereeeeeeeee
