sunghoon and y/n had been friends for almost 4 years and their bond had grown stronger through years of inside jokes, late night calls, and spending time together at least twice every week. though they were so close, lately something had shifted in their relationship and there was an unspoken tension between the two of them when they were together.

one saturday afternoon, sunghoon had come over to y/n’s apartment to watch a movie they had been looking forward to for months. after only a couple minutes of sitting comfortably on y/n’s couch, the movie became merely something there to keep them some company as it was replaced with shy glances and small smiles between the two friends.

y/n’s hand rested comfortably on sunghoon’s arm, their fingers absentmindedly tracing small patterns. sunghoon couldn’t explain the rush of courage that suddenly came over him, but when he locked eyes with y/n, he felt as though the world around him had melted away.

without saying a word, sunghoon leaned in, his lips brushing against y/n’s. it was soft, but slightly hesitant, a quiet question in the air. y/n’s heart skipped a beat before responding by meeting sunghoon’s lips with equal hesitance, then with an overflowing sense of urgency.

they kissed as though they would lose each other the moment they pulled apart. sunghoon’s hand found y/n’s cheek, his thumb softly grazing against their skin, while y/n’s hands tangled into sunghoon’s hair, pulling him closer and deepening the kiss.

but amidst the rush of emotions, sunghoon slightly pulled back, his forehead resting on y/n’s. “we should stop” he murmured, his voice barely a whisper.

y/n’s heart sank, fearing that they had misread the situation and had ruined everything. they looked at sunghoon and saw that his eyes reflected the uncertainty and longing back at them.

“i know” y/n replied softly, sighing. both of them understood the complications and risks of crossing the line between friends and lovers, but in that moment, neither of them wanted to let go.

without another word, sunghoon closed the distance between them again, his lips finding y/n’s with a newfound intensity. it was almost like a silent agreement and understanding that maybe it was worth the risk. their kisses became deeper as they both tried to convey the feelings they had concealed for so long.

the afternoon sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a warm glow through the windows of y/n’s living room. for sunghoon and y/n, it felt as though time stayed still. words weren’t needed, just the language of touch and the unspoken words that they were in this together, whatever this may be.

when they finally pulled apart, breathless and unable to drop the smiles from their faces, sunghoon tucked a loose strand of hair behind y/n’s ear and let out a soft chuckle. y/n giggled, feeling the sense of contentment between the two of them.

“we should probably get back to the movie…” they teased. sunghoon chuckled again, “yeah, probably,” he replied, intertwining his fingers with y/n’s before draping his arm around their shoulders.

y/n kissed his cheek before rewinding and playing the movie from the start, this time actually paying attention. they both knew that their relationship had shifted into something more, but as the movie continued and the room darkened with the setting sun, they found comfort in each others presence, knowing that whatever the future held for them, they’d be in it together.
