rate that hole
the whole senti Adrien thing
or Marinette’s backstory in derision
The whole Senti Adrien thing
What hole? | If you squint you can see it | pinhole | okay it’s visible | it’s hard to ignore | Sinkhole | School busses are falling in | What Plot?!
The problem being that if Adrien had been a sentimonster the whole time. Then Miracular, Chat Blanc, Heck even Gorizilla would have played out differently. Maybe it’s more of a retcon but it can’t be ignored how differently the show treats Adrien in seasons 4 and 5 with this in mind.
How to fix: Either remove it entirely or have Gabriel’s reason for not using the rings as a way of respecting a wish of Emilie but having to use it cause desperation.

Marinette’s backstory in derision
What hole? | If you squint you can see it | pinhole | okay it’s visible | it’s hard to ignore | Sinkhole | School busses are falling in | What Plot?!
Similar to with senti Adrien, season 4 starts the heel turn to make Chloé as awful as possible.
Now the backstory being something that Marinette repressed does have some understanding. But the fact that the class or school never MENTION IT to Alya or Adrien? But really the level of antagonism Chloé showed in the flashback and in season 5 never matched Origins. One could chalk it up to boredom or not wanting to lose Adrien’s opinion of her. But really too many people are too quiet for this to be viable.
How to fix: I would have had a scene where the classmates Avoid mentioning what happened in the past, like finding out Marinette went into therapy or something along those lines, but it is a hard sell

There's a scene in the first episode of season 1 suggesting that as of the start of canon, the Serpentine have faded into nothing more than myth. Naturally, this has led a lot of the fandom to question how this could be possible since the Serpentine War only happened ~40-50 years ago. There are plenty of still-living people in Ninjago who were present for this war - hell, even Ed and Edna were probably alive during the war. How could the existence of the Serpentine, a race that has been around and at conflict with the humans for over a thousand years, suddenly blink out of public awareness in just 40 years?
After some consideration, I think I've come to a pretty simple answer, if you'll indulge me as I overanalyze the silly lego show once again.
In order to understand the situation, let's take a look at the scene in question one more time.
The key thing to note here is that out of the four, Kai is the only one who doubts the existence of the Serpentine. Jay, Cole, and Zane all treat the subject with a heavy amount of importance and trepidation (and a bit of fear). Zane even explicitly insists that they're real. In fact, correct me if I'm wrong but Kai is perhaps the only character in the entire show that we've seen expressing this kind of doubt about the Serpentine.
In my opinion, this means the Serpentine aren't just a myth and are instead a known part of Ninjago's history, and the belief that the Serpentine are a myth is a belief exclusive to Kai and Kai alone. Which...honestly feels pretty in-character for him, ngl.
(Why, then, are the Serpentine taught in schools but the ninja all somehow didn't know about the existence of other elemental masters? Great question! Unfortunately I cannot explain that without going on a long and rambling dissertation-length essay, and I don't have the brainpower to write all that. Long story short? Ninjago's education system is in fucking SHAMBLES and we shouldn't be surprised about any gaps in anyone's knowledge.)
#rationalizing plot holes is really fun actually!#maybe one day ill make an ask game where people can send in their plot holes/inconsistencies and ill find rational lore reasons for them#ninjago#destiny post

🐍- How do you deal with it when you come across a plothole?
I sit on the edge of it, my little shovel in hand, and stare into its depths as I contemplate my life choices.
Once I finish doing that, I try to look at what happens before the hole, after the hole, and at what's currently in the hole and figure out where the problem actually is. Like, if it's a "[character] would not do that" sort of issue, for example, I need to figure out if the problem is that [character] would, in fact, not do that, or if they would, but I just haven't done a good enough job of convincing the reader of that, yet.
Sometimes, though, a plot hole comes up because something I've written legitimately makes so sense with an existing bit of worldbuilding. When that happens, I have a choice: I can change the plot hole, change the worldbuilding, or dive headfirst into the plot hole and change the rest of the story to accommodate it. I chose the third option near the end of the first draft of The Art of Empty Space, which is how I ended up with an entirely new story lol
Not sure how much you saw of it while I was posting last year, but the basic premise of the first draft was a Beauty and the Beast style, monster-in-a-castle story, with the curse centering around Baz (the monster) and his real name. The plot hole came at the very end, when Lienzo was meant to learn the true name and break the curse; the problem was that anyone who learned the monster's real name would immediately forget everything about him (as, you know, part of the curse). What would make Lienzo so special? Why wouldn't he forget, when everyone else did?
The solution was: he wasn't special. He did forget. And that's now where the second draft of AES starts: after all the events of the original draft. Now, instead of it being a Beauty and the Beast retelling, it's a mystery thriller where Lienzo has to uncover what's already happened to him, break the cycle of this magically-induced amnesia, and break the curse on the beast and the city (and figure out who originally cursed them and why).
So, short answer: sometimes I fix the plot hole. Sometimes the hole fixes the plot 🤷
Thank you for the ask! 💜

Plot hole that bothers me: where was Faith in "Helpless"?
Oooh this is such a good one, thank you for asking it. Pretty sure others have talked about this before, here's my attempt:
This is post Amends but pre Bad Girls, so the Faith and Buffy friendship is going pretty good at this point. (Literally we've only had 5 Faith episodes by Helpless, and that's how quickly she and Buffy get to a good place.)
In Helpless Faith is purposefully sent away so she would not interfere with Buffy's birthday Test by Giles. (cruciamentum is an annoyingly long word) I don't think the Watcher's Council thinks much about Faith, if they do at all...
[related - this ask answered by coraniaid is great and includes Post taking Faith out of town for the test at Giles' request. also it gets into how hands off/disorganized The Council is.]
Anyways, Giles has heard Buffy talking about Faith and knows they patrol together. He also knows Faith spent Christmas Eve with Buffy and (mostly) Joyce. So he knows Faith would definitely not stand by while Buffy gets tested. So he sends her out on a silly mission, like gathering a weapon from LA or something like that. He does not tell her that the Test is coming up for Buffy.
More under the cut bc this got really long!
Giles wrongly assumes that Faith is aware that on her 18th birthday a Slayer gets this Test. This is because he wrongly assumes Faith has already been through this herself, bc she is already over 18. In my HC Faith IS over 18 she only seems younger sometimes bc she's emotionally immature. In my HC she is over 18 but she has not had the Test and has never even heard about it.
[if you HATE the idea of Faith being older than 18 by Helpless, then Giles thinks she is over 18 bc he snooped one day while she and Buffy were sparring in the library and he found her wallet and saw her fake ID**. This leads him to believe she is in fact 19 or 20 or 21. So in this slightly divergent timeline Faith is only 17 but she still won't ever have the Test bc she doesn't have a proper Watcher / they don't really care enough about Faith to give her the Test.]
[** MORE FAKE ID thoughts: It honestly makes the most sense that her fake ID would say she's 21 so she can buy liquor bc that's what *ahem* most people did back then. BUT also Faith would not have much trouble getting guys to buy her liquor so maybe she only needs her fake ID to prove she's over 18 so she can get a bank account. BUT it seems weird that she's THAT responsible and she's not just shoving her cash under her mattress...
FAKE ID CONTINUED: Other interesting theories for a fake ID to prove she's over 18 that aren't about liquor or opening a bank account: change her birth name (non cis Faith? she already changed her name TO Faith?? maybe she has her Mom's name and she hates her Mom so she changed it on the fake ID? all valid), get piercings/tattoo (although in the 90s it was very common for under 18s to have these), get a job (only believable if she wasn't already a Slayer), buy a car (maybe an aspirational goal), go parachuting (another goal?). ANYWAYS enough thoughts about fake ID Faith this is turning into a fic prompt with like 10 options...)
MORE AGE THOUGHTS: Sorry one more thing. It seems unlikely that Fatih would be sentenced (for murder 2) to 25 years to life in prison - not jail but prison - for murder without legally being 18. Well just researched that and sadly this isn't true. I thought maybe her going to prison was a point in favor of her being at least 18 by ATS 1x19 Sanctuary but perhaps not. It's unclear. There's a 2000 California Prop 21 that seems relevant, which passed in March 2000 and Sanctuary aired in May 2000. And ofc the carceral system sucks and makes mistakes and Faith might have lied about her age.]
Where were we? Giles thinks that Faith already passed her own Test and knows that Buffy will get one when she (Buffy) turns 18. This leads to some trickery by Giles, bc he wants to hide when Buffy's birthday is from Faith. He shares a fake birthday for Buffy with Faith in a very awkward conversation while they wait for the Scoobies to assemble one day in the library. (Repeating the I Robot You Jane continuity error from S1.)
Faith thinks it's weird bc it seems like Giles is telling her to buy Buffy a birthday gift - which is already weird in itself - - and bonus leads her to wondering if Buffy is telling Giles what gifts she wants Faith to buy her, like a girl might with her Dad Watcher about a boyfriend -- and it's even weirder bc Buffy's birthday is months away. Thankfully the Scoobies arrive, and Giles stops talking about it. But the lingering "queer vibes boyfriend gift buying vibes" nugget has now been planted in Faith's already pretty-gay-for-Buffy mind.
And since i HC Faith as over 18 by Helpless, Faith should have gotten her own Test back in Boston but Diana (her Watcher) did not administer it. Diana had plans to, or plans to somehow avoid giving it / giving Faith a cheat, but then Kakistos came and she became pre-occupied with surviving him. (She sadly did not, as we know.) (Bonus points for the very sad HC of Faith turning 18 on the same day that Diana dies. OR she could turn 18 on a bus by herself during her cross country trip to Sunnydale. Give that girl more angst!!)
Diana never told Faith about the Test so Faith doesn't have any idea Buffy is in danger, even when she learns that Buffy has her 18th birthday coming up. And how does she learn this, despite Giles's attempt to hide it?
When Willow mentions something about Buffy's birthday coming up! Faith is confused bc of the prev Giles birthday talk. Once Xander mentions something as well Faith knows that Giles was lying to her. (This adds to her mistrust of Giles / The Council, not that she needs it.)
Faith resigns herself to the idea that Buffy doesn't want her around for her birthday party, and that is why Giles came up with his awkward birthday talk / lie. (This also reinforces the idea that Giles is very close to Buffy, since he's telling birthday lies for Buffy.) Faith then leans headfirst into her Slayer duties leading up to the week of Helpless, bringing it up to Buffy multiple times so Buffy knows Faith isn't totally wounded annoyed about missing Buffy's birthday.
(I'm not sure how Faith gets to LA for the Giles-weapon-mission. If she drives herself it makes her ATS 1x18 Five by Five bus arrival kinda "look how far she has fallen." If she takes the bus it makes her ATS 1x18 Five by Five bus arrival kinda "oh she knew what to expect at the bus depot bc she'd been here before.")
In LA Faith learns some local stuff (what neighborhoods are dicey, where the fun clubs are) and does indeed find the weapon Giles has sent her to get. She returns after Helpless and is surprised when no one talks much about Buffy's birthday party. When she tries to chat with Buffy about it in a fun casual way - it's clear Buffy doesn't want to discuss it.
And what weapon does Faith bring back to Sunnydale? It's the sword she uses in The Zeppo's first scene! It turns out not to be as important as Giles predicted, but that fits with this plot hole filler.
Faith doesn't find out about Giles drugging her for the Test, bc Buffy is repressing it and no one else ever talks about it again. (I don't agree with the writers' decision about this really terrible thing Giles does, but this filler needs to match on both ends.) This also matches bc if Faith ever did find out about it she would be incensed to the point of shouting and at least shoving Giles, if not more. She def would not shut up about it to Buffy, even if Buffy asks her to not bring it up again. ("How can you trust him B? After what he did to you??")
Anyways, i hope you enjoyed this! It was a lot of fun. Thanks so much for the ask!

What if TWST has a game franchise similar to LOZ, but it's Alice's adventures in Wonderland?
The series is quite popular, you play as Alice, with the Cheshire Cat as your companion (who tends to cause more problems than help out), the Vorpal Sword is basically the Master Sword and you help the Queen of Hearts by exploring dungeons and solving riddles and puzzles. There is even an Ace Attorney spin-off (not very successful, since the nonsensical rules annoy most players).
However, it's a general consensus that no one understands the first game. The whole playthrough amounts to 2 hours at most, though dataminers found more content in the code. It that wasn't enough, there is a weird sign right next to the first dungeon, who clearly breaks the fourth wall:
*
WARNING! YOUR GAME WILL NEVER BE THE SAME IF YOU DON'T GET THIS MESSAGE!
"Up is down, left is right,
Count the letters, subtract the spaces,
1 2 3 know 9 8 7 are your friends, now and ever,
Mind the gaps, ignore the rabbit,
There is no fun that is not maddening!"
There is also a small note in the back, written in blood-red ink, signed with a paw-print:
"I watch everything with a disinterested smirk,
With lazy eyes that twinkle like faraway suns,
You'll never find me in the night sky while I lurk,
'Cause, "mime a ton, drum te hey!"
*
Now, the Cheshire cat was only introduced in a later game, so people kept trying to find glitches to the moon (they also didn't find the cat and kept talking to a mime NPC). A quick look at the Queen's Rules also didn't help, since the number you get when subtracting the letters and spaces while ignoring the numbers just doesn't add up (something about doing parkour whenever a tree is planted).
So it stayed that way, just like the "Mew under the truck" thing.
Until Cater decided to stream a playthrough alongside the dorm (it fits the Heartslabyul theme, also Riddle is interested in gaming, so why not start with a simpler game that is also a classic).
You see, firstly, if you consider the numbers as actual names and write them as words, you get additional letters that, when subtracted by the spaces...still get a rule that doesn't make sense (don't eat a tart after midnight) BUT, if you know about Queendom history, you'll know that this rule was added by the White Rabbit to fill a GAP in the book after the Queen banned a rule about the correct way to dance (up, down, left, right, two steps forward, one step back).
Long story short, Riddle solved the problem.
So, you can get that dance and replicate it in the game, swapping up with down and left with right (forward and backwards would also be up and down, in this case).
As for the extra note, they already knew it was the cat, but if you scramble "Mime a ton, drum te hey!", you get "I am on the tree, dummy!"
The cat introduced himself, saying he'll follow the player on the next journey, but not before giving a tip: "If you want to keep going, you have to be as mad as everyone here! Why kill when you can dance? They do say singing wards off evil..."
Riddle explained all of this in fifteen minutes. Just to humor him, Cater left the sign and made a beeline for the first tree in the area, expecting nothing of it.
The Cheshire Cat showed up, his smile overtaking the screen.
And with that, Cater wordlessly rushed to the first dungeon, doing the dance code instead of killing the first enemy.
The game crashed.
And then a cutscene started playing.
It was basically the Jabberwock appearing and destroying the dungeon's ceiling. Apparently he is "searching for that damn cat" and "hoping to battle his nemesis again". With that, he leaps to the sky, and we get the game's title drop.
Do note that the game was using a style similar to "A Link to the Past" at first, but everything changed and now it looks like Twilight Princess.
And that's how Cater's streams became famous. Also everyone is trying to memorize the Queen's rules.
The streams now happen in Ramshackle, with the entire cast present. Also Riddle is annoyed because people keep asking for his assistance with solving game puzzles.
Alternatively, this could also happen in Book 6.
Everyone speedrunnimg the Overblot fight just so they can keep playing.
#twst#I must say that I'm probably underestimating gamers and theorists#since they can solve some of the craziest problems or plot holes known to man#please don't count the letters in the little puzzle#it's just a silly thing I came up with for the sake if this post...#the game itself would be more LOZ than Alice: Madness Returns#I spent wayy too long trying to come up with this convoluted story#let's just say that the game devs wanted to incorporate puzzles. crosswords. wonderland logic and the queen's rules#and accidentally made a game only Riddle can understand#the cheshire cat can only be found if you read the sign and head straight to the first tree on the screen. any detours and it won't work#riddle rosehearts#cater diamond#idia shroud#you know the situatuon's dire when IDIA goes to ask Riddle for help#theorists are one of the main backbones of a fandom! love you all!

what do you think would realistically edelgerd's fate post AG?
We know Doylist wise she was Supreme Puppet'd to have her, somehow, survive (when we know how she reacts to military defeat in AM!) and removing all of her agency - Supreme Puppet was Puppet'd, so she cannot be hold accountable for what she did as Lobotogard, or with her regressed state, cannot be accountable the things she did with her mind intact.
I've already ranted about this special plot device to make sure the waifu escapes the axe and its sexist undertones, but damn if thinking about it to this day pisses me to no ends.
Faced with Regressed!Leader, Dimitri dgaf and moves on (or rather, away from her, reminiscing of AM - he has other things to do than to linger on his relationship with Supreme Leader).
I'd say -
Dimtri dgaf and leaves her to her own devices (which would be a nod to the "parley"? Now that Supreme Leader became one of the "weaks" what is she going to do? Bootstraps or rely on a support system she so much decried?) and move to Enbarr to put an end to the War.
But thinking in more serious terms?
His bannermen, friends and people wouldn't settle for anything else than Supreme Leader's death (maybe not on the gates on Enbarr?). She's the one who started this war and had so many people killed in her imperialist bid, so the only way Supreme Leader escapes death is with the Church.
Now, Supreme Puppet'd by Thales and maybe acknowledging Supreme Leader's second crust, Rhea might be more partial to her - she had been used as a plaything by Agarthans (hopefully she developped her racist tendencies after the experiments?) - and could see her as a victim.
On the other hand, she did start this war, and had more agency than expected given how she petitionned the CoS to war against the Agarthans who infiltrated her Empire - and yet, she still launched her attack on the monastery of her own free will.
Rhea is a compassionate person (Yuri still exists even after killing her knights!) so I think, with all things considered - Supreme Leader's status as a victim of Agarthans, Supreme Puppet and Lobotogard, but also, the war she declared and planned, sacking Garreg Mach, attacking the CoS both spiritually (the Southern Church thing was meant to be a direct "contradiction?" to what she preaches?) and martially, and MAGA > Peace - I'd say Rhea'd agree on not killing Supreme Leader, but at the only condition that she remains with the CoS, in something like her sentence will be to rebuild what she destroyed and mend the wounds she caused so that she might have a different outlook on Fodlan and its people (aka, not going all "i don't mind sacrificing them to reach my goals") when she will remember what she did/who she was, and/or will not become the same "tyrant" she was when she will "grow up" (mentally speaking?).
But that's at the only condition that she never gets to rule anything ever again or hold any kind of political power returning to Adrestia/Enbarr - if those conditions aren't met, she will be executed.
(and maybe to appease the people she's now supposed to work with, Rhea will lend her some old bottle of hairdye, maybe people will not see her as the former emperor who bled the continent for her whims, but as someone who is living a new life)
Rhea might thus "request custody" of Supreme Puppet and while the Kingdom might want her dead, the Church, as the main victim of the war, can have the last say (besides Dimitri might be relieved that Supreme Leader will not be executed), however, the Church asks to everyone present to tell their people that the "Supreme Leader who declared this war of unification died and is no more", maybe taking her crown and Aymr away, as proof she's "dead".
It sounds a bit too merciful coming from Rhea, when we see her in Tru Piss and with her history as Seiros the Warrior - but post!AG!Rhea imo is in a different mood, first of all, with Thales gone there are no people who will target Nabateans because of their race (so no genocide PTSD anymore?) and/or try to make new relics, and unlike the events of FE16, Rhea spent the last few years living with humans who demonstrated they could be trustworthy and actually helped her when she was in need (tfw Rhea doesn't know about Dimitro).
I can see her having more faith in humans and a future in Fodlan for everyone post!AG, as Dimitri and the Kingdom people seem to be trustworthy, than in FE16 when all of the events we play through in WC are basically triggering her genocide trauma (people hunting bones and crest stones, killing Jerry, turning her beloved wards in demonic beasts, some people targeting her for no plausible reason (unless the Western Church knew she had pointy ears?), Hresvelg becoming the new Nemesis, etc...)
That being said...
If Clout tries, during the epilogue, to take a shot at Rhea - when people are celebrating the end of the war - I cannot see things not turning sour for him.
Granted, if you want realism, Clout and GW cannot function because they expect the people involved to be completely stupid, but for this AU's sake, let's say Clout and Dimitro had their heart to heart in Zahrofl, he holds her at Failnaught range and demands her death/resignation/removal of her church.
If he shots and kills her (because Rhea would have dropped her guard, thinking she is surrounded by allies!), I cannot see anyone/anything preventing Claude from being dismembered/slaughtered in the seconds after Rhea's death - not even Dimitro because, hey, Clout said he will accept the consequences of his actions to "change" Fodlan, right? - by Church forces, Kingdom forces and, if we want to push the realism card, even Alliance forces (why the fuck did he do that? Maybe it's a weird doppelganger like those dark mages use! Or Erwin will behead him himself - sure this guy did that, but he doesn't represent the Alliance!).
In the chaos and confusion following Rhea's death, Supreme Leader is executed ("if she never started her war, nothing like this would have ever happened") and Fodlan is fucked when Sothis eventually pops up.
If Clout only holds Rhea at "Failnaught range" and she wonders wtf and asks him to explain - while the entire host of people from, again, the Kingdom, the CoS and KoS, the former BL and maybe some peeps from the GD and Leicester are there - Clout gives his bonker
"Who steals your freedom and gives you an endless list of duties and obligations simply because you have a Crest? Who forces you and your friends into a bunch of unwanted marriages and positions of power? The church even forbids any official contact with outside regions! Not exactly great for Faerghus, right? Being as close to Sreng and Albinea as you are."
reasons, Rhea's first reaction might be to crush him (because now she's on guard!) but if Dimitro says this is not a matter partaining to Faerghus and would rather stay aside (which would throw a wrench in Rhea's previous belief that humanity can be trusted again!) the CoS/Kos, Kingdom and Alliance people might just call crap and bullshit and debunk his baseless accusations (rekindling Rhea's faith in people and Fodlan?) from Annette telling him that they already trade with Albinea, Duscur generals and even Dedue telling him they witnessed the Church helping them regardless of their place of birth, Ingrid saying that her marriage to Glenn had not be organised or planned by the Church, but out of the affection they both had for each other and Ashe telling him those obligations and duties he seems to resent don't exist because he has a crest, but out of a genuine desire to help people.
Maybe we can add Judith wondering wtf is going on with Clout-boy, has he forgotten people get responsabilities and duties because they want them or because Nobility exists well beyond Fodlan's borders? "And I thought you had more common sense than this!"
A Goneril bannerman/loldier might add that the Archbishop asked them to treat Almyran as something else than nuisances and parasites when she came to visit and left with an Almyran kid in tow, but hey - they always attack them for no reason and create strife in Goneril for no reason, haven't they attacked just before the Academy closed?
Basically everyone debunking his claims, Clout realising that said claims were sprouted from his ass so he gets some tissue and wipes it clean.
Clout then relents (tfw no allies to support him) and the Alliance's roundtable finally vote to elect a branch member of the Riegan fam as head of the House - Clout leaves Failnaught and departs "somewhere far away".
(maybe he returns as Almyra's King later on, or as a crown prince, with a treaty/offer of peace, wishing for prosperity between the two lands).
-> all jokes aside and in a more serious setting, even with Dimitro not outwardly condemning him, Clout's course of action would be frowned upon by every party - Alliance included - and depending on his involvment, Dimitro himself might be challenged by his vassals/friends "Sure it's not about Faerghus' safety, but are we really going to let this guy target and ice and bring more chaos by eliminating our ally - who repaid our hospitality with kindness and supported our war efforts - when the Alliance refused to assist us when the Empire swore to Make Adrestia Great Again and warred against us?"
Granted, in this more serious setting, Dimitro doesn't exist because the plot doesn't bend backwards to accomodate Clout so...
Even if Clout doesn't try to ice Rhea asap and waits maybe 8 months after GM's recovery and the end of the war, I cannot see the Lords of the Alliance - when they can try to do "business as usual" with the former Adrestia lands - endorse a military campaing against the Church to, uh, decalcify Fodlan's current order to put YOLO in place. Clout suggesting this is basically handing to Erwin/anyone reason enough to depose him from his seat as Riegan's representative (the alliance has more to win with rebuilding Adrestia/Fodlan than to wage a pointless war that will alienate everyone and leave their backs open to an Almyran attack), and he either runs away to Almyra or dies in a pointless attempt to start a civil war/rebellion to garner troops to target the Church.
For sure this looks like an ideal "and everything ends good AU!" but in a more serious setting, where people have common sense and don't suddenly hold idiot plot balls to make sure Clout seems to have a point... his POV doesn't hold under scrutiny and no one can normally follow him, unless they have another agenda (Make Leicester Great Again?)
#anon#replies#3 nopes#tbh if you want a serious setting in Nopes#erase GW from the plot#while I can see an alliance with Adrestia I can't see the Federation existing without serious civil unrest in Leicester#we bow to no king and no emperor cannot be overthrown in one night by Clout who listened to Barney#in b4 Supreme Leader when she recovers her memories still want to throw a continental war to unify the world#it will depend on how far in MAGA + lizards bad Supreme Leader was before the experiments#Rhea's anger at Supreme Leader is qualmed in this AG AU bcs she realises Supreme Leader was puppet'd by Agarthans#and yet actions have consequences#let her heal and help the ones she maimed#what happens in Adrestia though? 14 + 97 with prongsfoot >:))) (if you want to ofc! <33)
Thanks for the ask, anon! 🩷 This one took me some time to think over. :D Super interesting tropes! It's an AU where James and Sirius didn't go to Hogwarts together but Sirius went to Durmstrang.
__
Bodyguard AU + Time Travel
Auror James Potter is in his late 30s, and the Ministry has finally captured Sirius Black who is claimed to be a notorious dark wizard. Black has refused to confess to his crimes or in fact to say anything to anyone who is trying to interrogate him. He doesn't even give in to Verisetarum. However, his reaction to James is strange when they first meet. He finally speaks. Gives him an address.
James goes there to find a timeturner. Something goes wrong and he goes back in time 20 years. He returns to the Ministry and explains what happened but doesn’t mention Sirius Black by name or give the officials his own real name because he's a bit suspicious and time travel can mess things up anyway. They will try to find a way to send James back to his time but in the meanwhile he is assigned to take care of an important family's heir who has been a target of a murder attempt. Turns out it's a 19-year old Sirius Black.
At first he is as reluctant as James is for the arrangement, especially since all James knows about him is the facts he has read from his file. But the more time he spends with younger Sirius Black, the more he realises that underneath the cool and distant exterior is a good person. How did he end up becoming a dark wizard? Was it really him or was he framed?
Gradually they become friends and then more than that. They start a forbidden relationship over the months James has to spend in the past. Eventually James returns back to his own time and when he looks into the eyes of Sirius Black again, there is understanding. There is love. They've finally met in the right time, and James is determined to prove Sirius is innocent, after all.

Hades OC
Idk how to give information about OCs
His name is Erasmus
He’s a son of Eros and Psyche
He’s a minor god of carnal desire and sensual love
He helps to fix relationships that are suffering physically (like a partner being less physically affectionate)
Spends only like 20 percent of his time on Olympus, then about 40 percent of his time with mortals helping them get their relationships together, and the final 40 percent of his time overall is spent in the underworld pestering the dead and hanging out with Hypnos
He also
Really looks up to Aphrodite for her aesthetic and vibe (mostly the love and beauty part, but he can get violent if he needs to, both his grandparents are deities of war, after all)
#hades supergiant#hades game#hades oc#original character#dont ask how he gets to the underworld i wont say#(hypnos begged hades to let him in at first and now he js kinda shows up)#im not good at fixing plot holes with ocs sue me#also#i tried to draw in like#the art style of the game#its not exactly like it#but#i#think it looks ok tbh#also is this how i say i selfship with hypnos#or was the new pfp enough to get that across /j

17. talk about your writing and editing process i typically edit as i write which i've discovered can be a real distraction when i haven't even fleshed out the plot. to counter this, i've been trying to be less focused on a perfect first draft. my current wip is a great example of that: my first pass was totally unpublishable. so was my second. my third is... getting there. there are still a lot of <something> placeholders and the occasional keyboard smash to indicate 'transition' though. weirdly i am writing a LOT slower this way, but hey, it's all an experiment, eh?
20. in what year did you publish your first fic? oh! I have no idea? it was definitely in college and i never finished it. i also couldn't even tell you what my username was (it was something like thisorthat with a number at the end?). i want to say it sometime around 2010.
30. share a fic you’re especially proud of i'm really waffling over this. i'm proud of all of them for having been published, but i'd really love to give each one a good edit (think 'lobotomy'). for the sake of answering though, i'm actually really proud of follow the buttons, chapter 2. the fic was originally intended as a one-shot, but a really well-timed comment sort of lit a fire under the ole fingertips, and i wrote the entire second chapter in a single 2-hour sitting.
ask game
#my first answer to no. 30 was the batwoman long fic that is just... a real hot mess#but it was the first fic i had ever started (and finished!)#which feels like a huge accomplishment even if it is a dumpster fire of plot holes + ooc moments + just terrible POV consistency#if i weren't still sentimental about it i'd delete the entire thing off ao3#thanks for the ask!#sssammich#qs with quinn#ask game

possibly an unpopular opinion but i feel like sjm’s writing/plotting have gone downhill, which is disappointing bc i enjoyed tog so much. i actually did like the first 4 acotar books and hoeab, but her most recent work feels like she’s trying to do too much with the maasverse and it’s not well thought out (i had so many issues with the larger world plot elements of acosf and the regression on bryce’s character arc in hosab…). it feels like as she’s gotten more and more popular, whoever her current editor is doesn’t do a good job at making her ideas work best for the overall story. i’m disappointed bc the premises have so much potential but haven’t lived up to it to me :/
send me your unpopular opinions and i’ll either let you in or not
#i haven’t read hosab but i fullyyyyy agree#people have been hoping for a crossover since acotar1 came out and i’ve been so against it since the beginning#like … i just. … :/#the very concept of a crossover stems from the fact that her universes are all nearly indistinguishably similar#and i don’t know how much of that was originally intentional (my guess is zero lol)#so to see her now doing a whole sjmcu thing is … sigh.#personally i think she does this a lot — where she pulls a late-game move and acts like she was laying the groundwork all along#when ‘the grohndwork’ was actually just inconsistencies and plot holes that she capitalized on later jfkfkdkd#groundwork*** lol i can’t type today#that’s how i feel about mor/az and stay w the high lord and dorian’s dad having no name and so many other things fjfkdk#i agree w you for sure but honestly i think the lack of planning hit its peak in like 2018 and it’s been a battle since then lol#anon#asked and answered#hot takes#acotar#anti sjm#(tagging for peoples filters so i don’t get yelled at 😵💫)

Rate the hole: Why didn't Gabriel just make an Akuma with the power to heal his wife?
What hole? | If you squint you can see it | pinhole | okay it’s visible | It’s hard to ignore | Sinkhole | School busses are falling in | What Plot?!
Considering how the akuma seem to be able to have any power so long as it relates to whatever they were struggling with, it’s hard to believe Gabriel never once thought of making Nathalie into an akumatized Person that can heal his wife. Or bring her back to life. But since she is Dead, maybe it’s one of those things that can’t be cured. Like Ladybugs power can’t reverse death, so maybe death is too definitive to be ‘Fixed’
Can this hole be patched? Easily.
Have the first use of the butterfly miraculous be his attempt at healing Emilie but failing cause ‘it’s beyond the power.’
That old bs.

literally the fact that josh targets chris to the point that he does, a person who was unconscious during the entire duration of the prank is a pretty good indication that sam did not have to be actively involved in the prank for him to fuck with her.
#⋞i don't have enough money for chicken nuggets⋟ ( ooc. )#s.am is a good egg and hannah was her best friend#her being involved literally makes no sense in either version#like don't ask me why s.upermassive has massive plot holes in their game but#it's entirely against the established character that is s.am to try and say that she would have assisted in the prank in any way

i love when i (a woman) tell men that i'm a gamer and there's this shift, like, i can see that they're about to be condescending af to me by asking "oh, what do you play?" like that matters at all, like playing a game they don't deem "worthy" makes me any less of a gamer lol.
#like sir i don't have anything to prove to you okay?#kindly fuck off#now i will say 'not all men' bc this is true#i have plenty of guy friends who i can talk to about games that aren't asshats#but unfortunately this does not seem to be the norm#i still remember this one time these dudes i worked with were talking about gaming#i think it was like one of those basketball games or something like NBA 2K[insert year]#and i don't play those games because they don't interest me#but i remember they said something along the lines of 'oh what do you play'#and the guy that asked wasn't being a dick he was genuinely interested#so i tell him 'oh i tend to prefer games with a narrative'#and this one ass hole is just like '*laughs condescendingly* games with a narrative? what does that even mean?'#and he's trying to get the other guys to laugh with him#at me#and i just smile at him coldly and go 'you know games that have a story? a plot? like assassin's creed & call of duty & legend of zelda?'#and i genuinely think he did not know what the word narrative meant#that or he is one of those people that just plays sports games or if they play COD it's just like the multiplayer mode#which is totally fine like fr idgaf#play however you want. however makes you happy.#but don't act like idk what i'm talking about when i've been playing video games since i was 9 fucking yo#so anyway#this dude just laughs awkwardly to himself and changes the subject without even acknowledging my response#bc he wanted to make me look stupid and he didn't#and he just goes on to talk about something else#but like#i still remember that#and it still pisses me tf off#anyway this almost happened to me again the other day#but luckily our conversation got cut short lol#ignore me

I hate it here. Not like tumblr but ya’know. I miss when I was a kid and only thought about how long I had to play with my toys because I was carefree and not of age yet to worry about adult stuff. I want time to just stop. I want it to stop I’m tired of everything I want off this ride and the only way I know how to make it all stop is forbidden. I just want to stay in bed forever and pretend I’m a kid playing with my toys again without a care in the world because I am a kid.
#new anime plot: miagwyn bitches#this was brought to you by the letter p#for Pokémon because went down the nostalgia rabbit hole and now I feel even worse than what I did earlier :)#also I can’t play some of my Pokémon games anymore cause the internal battery is dead#like on my emerald and fire red games#and I’m not being dramatic but I want to cry about it#the fact that..like old stuff is disappearing and I hate it#I want the old things to come back just like they were#fuck the new shit I want to go into a store and by a gameboy from the electronics section#I want to buy a 1960’s vw bus from the new dealership if I want#I want rotary phones and land lines to come back#I want to go get ice cream for 50 cents#you see what I mean??#this is why I hate time so much#I hate going forward I didnt fucking ask for this#I’m spiraling as I speak I’m so tired I miss when Pokémon had 150 monsters#I miss Sunday morning cartoons like Mickey Mouse and Tom & jerry#I miss when I could go play outside in the dirt and the neighbor we had was friendly#and trees were everywhere#and the worst thing was bedtime cause I wanted to stay up and play with my toys#I miss when my mum could still see really well#I rember laying on my parents bed one Sunday morning after breakfast thinking about how life was not a game and that I’d die one day#shit freaked me out but now I’m 25 and I still think about that and that day and#I hate it here#I just want everything to stop
