Screencap study from Whistle and I'll Come to You (1968) dir. Jonathan Miller, an M. R. James adaptation which inspired the Ghost Story for Christmas series on the BBC. I love how this one turned out - I'm using a different type/weight of lokta paper and it adds a nice grainy texture to the print.

thinking about young wukong cherishing macaque - his first friend, his first willing subject/warrior from outside the mountain, the only other one of his "kind" - the way one coveted a treasure. Held him dear, held him close, put him on the softest cushions, draped him in the finest silk, dressed him up with the best garments the world could offer, fed him immortal peaches and wine that nations would go to war for a single sip. Macaque got a share in all the earthly and heavenly pleasures wukong could get his hands on, without lifting a finger if he didn't feel like it (he always felt like it, what's a warrior without a king to serve? but that's for another post). And yet wukong also guarded macaque the way one coveted a treasure - in which the best seals and wards were of ignorance. Held him dear, held him close, so close that for thousands of years the world knew far and wide of the Monkey King's exploits but nothing about the existence of his counterpart. No one could steal from him a thing they didn't know he had. Kept him always in wukong's shadows so the greeds of the world could never touch what's firmly his, so no other light apart from the Monkey King's could shine on his warrior.

The realms only learned of the Six Eared Macaque the day he was lost to the living by his king's own carelessness, and no amount of mourning or picking up the pieces could bring him back to wukong's trembling, remorseful hands.

Art work I commissioned from @jeonseoguu of my Jo-Jo's bizzard adventure character Bruce Cavanagh and his stand Gila Monster.

He was born in the Alaskan mountains into a cult dedicated to recreating the stories they heard of the ultimate life-form, the entire cult was dismantled by the Speedwagon foundation when Bruce was 8 so he was thrown into the foster care system until he was 14 at which point he ran away and started wandering around the U.S.A. It was at this same time he discovered his stand: Gila Monster which helped him survive by using its powers to live surprisingly comfortably despite his situation.

Gila monster itself is a punch ghost a bit on the weaker side actually, but it has two main abilities. The first one is that when people are scared of Bruce or Gila Monster, then it grows more powerful. Getting stronger, faster and even a bit larger. It's second ability is that if an opponent believes that Gila Monster has a power, it will gain that power. (For example: The opponent believes that Gila Monster can breath fire and so Gila Monster gains the ability to breath fire.) Its whole gimmick is to try and bullshit and scare your opponent and I love it.

Additionally because this character is actually for a TTRPG game I decided to give my GM something funny to work with so Gila Monster is a thinking stand that can act on its own and It is hungry. Gila monster needs to eat actual food or it will take matters into its own hands and take bites out of food or people (whatever is closer) with its many rows of teeth and impressively strong bite.

I adore the notion that Sukuna's downfall (in love) begins with his fight with Gojo—I mean, physically? That's pretty much Canon. The main reason he lost was the damage Satoru dealt him.

However, I also want to believe that Satoru caused him psychological damage (not really damage but Sukuna is a drama queen) in addition to the physical one.

Sukuna helps Satoru become enlightened, but it results in his own (de-enlightenment?)

Sukuna only cares about his pleasures and he realizes that they are ephemeral. But then he experiences such intense pleasure that he finds it impossible to move on from it, promising Gojo to remember him all his life.

It appears to me that he became attached.

Him using Satoru's hand sign until his last moments while having four fucking arms is proof of that.

And THAT'S the curse of love😉
