Ok ok I'm gonna need y'all to check out Brilliant Minds because I need to yell about this with some people. This show is tailor made to be a Tumblr show and yet

You've got:

out gay main character played by a gay actor

neurodivergent main who is actually nice and who people sometimes don't get right away but they end up appreciating

mommy issues that are actually addressed in-show; his mother has some valid reasons for her behavior, but that doesn't excuse or eliminate the impact they had

diverse cast including great supporting characters that feel real and fleshed out and are, above all, interesting

characters with freely talked about mental health disorders

a medical show that emphasizes intense compassion for patients, which is seen by the establishment as a liability

most of the medical cases don't have simple fixes? which, as someone in the field (or, field-adjacent) with multiple chronic illnesses is super nice to see. there are no magical cures in this show. chronic conditions are seen as something to be managed, and the complexities of dealing with them are discussed

an actual gay relationship involving the main that has its challenges while they get to know each other. still too early in the show to see where they're going with it, but for now it's honest and satisfying

the main has face blindness, which informs how he treats his patients in a way that feels honest

the love interest is awkward AF and it's adorable

one of the primary supporting characters is an out lesbian, I can't wait to see what they do with her

the places where the characters live look like places where they would actually live? intern lives in a small dilapidated apartment in the Bronx, where the elevator is constantly broken, etc.

bad decision making that is yet so understandable, and has consequences that feel real

despite what some people have said, it's nothing like House, except it takes place in a hospital. and that's a good thing! I'm not knocking House, but this show is unique among medical dramas and deserves so much love for it

C'mon, friends, I need someone to join me to scream about this show, it's so good and it deserves to get renewed so we can see season after season of Zachary Quinto being gay and awkward and Teddy Sears being equally gay and equally awkward and all the deliciousness that results!

Elias Mannix is such a tragic character, when you think about it. He was doomed from the start. Either he accepts to go with the time loop and

a) has a shitty childhood (shitty to the point of not thinking anyone ever loved him and to the point of accepting to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of lives to feel that love he was promised)

b) has to go through with the killing of hundreds of thousands of people! And I know future!Elias doesn't really show any remorse about it, but it has to fuck up a person. Especially when his decision was made pretty spontaneously in the moment, without really thinking about the consequences (I personally think that he wouldn't have done it if he had taken the time to breath, calm down and think about it). And especially knowing most of these people didn't just die at the time of the explosion, but had to suffer a slow and painful death, that Elias probably heard about/saw pictures of on TV. We don't see him as a young adult, but those years must have been tough.

c) has to make sure his childhood is shitty so that he can keep existing, and become his own abuser!!

His only other option is to not do any of that, choose to not make the bomb explode, to do the right thing, and what does he get for that? Nothing! He stops existing!! And it's not just as if he dies, he will never have existed, no one will know he ever existed, no one will remember him! Can you imagine that??

His own life is dependant on a cycle of abuse and death he created himself and it's SO. SAD.

what i love about why women kill is that karl is easily one of, if not the, most considerate, cultured, and well-meaning characters. in the first episode he also fakes his death with no other escape plan, fails, lands exactly where he started, and still somehow uses that as blackmail to keep from being thrown out on the street

voyager has everything. sexual tension between every member of the crew, a strange emotional support little man they picked up off the street, a captain pushed to the brink who constantly has to betray her own morals to try and save everyone in the end, a girl who like. becomes a weird non corporeal space entity and just like. evaporates into space and that's the last we see of her?? borg. an ensign who: has invented warp 10, saved the ship single handily multiple times, has zero rizz, is somehow always working, a senior member of the crew, died at least twice, and despite all that never gets a promotion. lizard sex, dubious ethics, if HIPAA wished to be a real boy, steven universe fusion, boy AND girl failures, and coffee in that nebula.
