Just a reminder that when you go vote, it's not just the president thats on the ballot. Despite going with my parents to vote as a kid, I was shocked the first time I went to go vote & there were all these local positions to vote for that I had never seen/ understood.
Depending on where you're at, you might have other state & local offices to vote for, or retaining judges. There might also be ammendments that are confusingly worded on the ballot too.
You should be able to find a sample ballot for your county. READ THROUGH IT. (I just Googled X County sample ballot & it popped up). Look up the offices & what they do if you aren't sure. Look up the candidates.
Ballot Ready will walk you through the offices, the candidates & their background, and help decipher any amendments presented (what voting a yes means & no, they might give some reasons as to why one would vote yes or no too). Ballotopedia can also be a source to walk you through the candidates.
The judges were the hardest part to look into, I was lucky that someone in Iowa made a spreadsheet breaking down judges on certain things (ability to out aside emotions, interpreting the law, etc- link below) If you can, look into some recent cases they pressed over. In Iowa, David May was one of the judges who was in favor of the 6 week abortion ban; he's up to vote on retention.

A fire was also set at a ballot box in Portland, Oregon where three ballots were damaged.
"The Portland Police Bureau reported that officers and firefighters responded to a fire in one ballot drop box at about 3:30 a.m. and determined an incendiary device had been placed inside. Multnomah County Elections Director Tim Scott said a fire suppressant inside the drop box protected nearly all the ballots; only three were damaged, and his office planned to contact those voters to help them obtain replacement ballots.
A few hours later, across the Columbia River in Vancouver, television crews captured footage of smoke pouring out of a ballot box at a transit center. Vancouver is the biggest city in Washington's 3rd Congressional District, the site of what is expected to be one of the closest U.S. House races in the country, between first-term Democratic Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican challenger Joe Kent."

"MY life has gotten marginally better or been unaffected under the current administration, so give the Democrats YOUR vote"
that's what y'all sound like. fuckin entitled. or do none of y'all actually believe in one person, one vote lol
just say that other people's problems, well-being, stability, and dignity is secondary to your fucking comfort under the status quo.
if things are "better under Biden" for you to such an extent that you feel entitled to other people's fucking votes, I got news for ya — you were probably fine under Trump too 🙃

this is what i think of when third party voters go around acting morally superior because they don't want to get their hands dirty like the rest of us. they're toddlers having temper tantrums because instead of using the system in a way that could benefit them in the long term like the extremist Republicans have been doing for decades, third party voters refuse to participate in local civics & then claim the entire country is already fascist. they're so cute in their naivety if they think the US can't get any worse.
what the fuck do you think will happen if you try to protest against a government with a military as massive, lethal, & expensive as ours. who do you think will be sacrificed first? oh what's that? crickets? thought so. i'm a white woman but i will absolutely use my voice to point out leftists can be racist as fuck & the anti-blackness in your spaces can be absolutely fucking wild. not everyone leftist is white, but many that are can be pretty problematic.
if you think i'm selfish then fine. if you state that you would gladly exchange my life for a Palestinian like one of you said in a comment to me a few weeks ago then fine. i'm out here fighting to make sure the people who live here in this country don't experience our own Holocaust.
if you have a problem with people wanting to fight this while claiming you're anti-genocide, you're a fucking liar & a hypocrite. you won't know what the fuck to do in a true fascist country. i don't doubt there are pockets of fascism already existing here but you thinking it's already the worst it can be is as infuriating as people who think the government is creating their massive hurricanes using weather machines. you sound just as childish & delusional. you already sound like children because you will never take responsibility for your choices if it ends up helping him win.
jill stein's campaign is a sham. she is deliberately running as a spoiler. she's a wealthy white woman who lives in a mostly white affluent neighborhood. she's going around lecturing black people about white supremacy. she is getting funds from Republicans as well as help from trump's lawyers. Lockheed Martin has given her money. she's involved in shady as fuck index funds for companies that harm the environment. she only started talking about Gaza during this election cycle to hit you in the feelings so she can bank on it. she made a whole stink about needing a recount, raised a bunch of money for that, & then that money disappeared who knows where. do you all hear this? do you care? no, you're just like maga with their orange Jesus. you don't give a FUCK about stein's red flags because she's "different."
if Harris loses & you blame anyone but yourselves, you're cowardly traitors who threw us regular Americans to the wolves because of your precious fucking principles. history has shown time & time again that protest voting typically allows something worse to take control. it's hardly ever beneficial to the people. you're vile. you don't want to make this world a better place by allowing so many near you to suffer & die. if both sides are the same then please tell me you're okay with another trump presidency. or just shut the fuck up.
i look forward to more potentially heartwarming messages saying that my life doesn't mean shit from people who allegedly are against the death penalty & are pro-human rights 🥰
please vote, don't stop talking about Project 2025, etc. i hope enough of us vote in a way that these pathetic third party voters don't gain any kind of traction. at this point i'm just angry at their hypocrisy when they don't even listen to other protestors who live here & are begging them to not vote third party. i refuse to listen to y'all not take responsibility for your part. Project 2025 will hurt us all but apparently you're okay with that or you think it's already here. smooth brain takes all around. anyways good luck & stay safe to anyone who votes blue 💙

Yeah I'm totally with you on this. Voting is one way we're fighting tooth and claw to get human rights and human dignity from the ruling class. It's not the only way to fight them and it's not the only way to help other oppressed peoples. But I can't imagine deciding not to use a tool at your disposal because it's not ideologically pure. Very little is ideologically pure outside of things that stay theoretical. I'd rather have dirty hands and a little bit of Actual Good I can point to.
I voted for a local rep who I don't like because the alternative was worse. And that happens all the time. I will keep agitating for a ceasefire and long term solutions but also I need to keep Republicans from making abortion illegal in my state, I need to keep trans kids allowed to use the bathroom at school, I need the sheriff to be someone who continues to adjust the police budget away from militarization and towards better training. All cops are bastards, this guy included, but I'd rather vote for the guy who is actively reducing how often they use SWAT and riot gear, than not vote for anyone because if I vote I'm "endorsing the existence of the police state".
That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. We're not celebrities endorsing our favorite politicians and declaring them to be perfect and above reproach (and honestly celebrities shouldn't be doing that anyway and I couldn't care less what most of them think of politicians). We're citizens trying to make the best choices we can out of the available ones. You can absolutely vote for someone and talk openly and loudly about how full of bullshit they are. Please do. I get a sort of perverse joy out of telling elected officials that I only voted for them because they are the only barely tolerable one of the bunch. We need to encourage other people to run against them from the Left. Let's drag that Overton window back. But we can't do that if we disengage.
I just want to know what people who are against voting fucking want. Really I do. But if you say voting can at least help a small number of people they call you a white supremacist or say you don't care about genocide.
But like realistically, if Biden had lost the last election insulin would not be price capped right now but the genocide in Palestine would still be happening. That's not supporting genocide that's just the truth. It does not fucking matter who is president the United States is not going to stop supporting Israel any time soon and without a LOT of work. Work that I support and will continue to support as much as I can.
Not voting is not saving Palestine, it's just cutting your neighbors food stamps and until someone can convince me otherwise that will continue to be my stance.

Additional reminder that EVERY FUCKING YEAR IS AN ELECTION YEAR and LOCAL ELECTIONS MATTER JUST AS MUCH AS IF NOT MORE THAN FEDERAL ELECTIONS.
This shit going down in red states? That’s happening because state legislatures are passing horrific bills and governors are signing them. State legislatures, not U.S. Congress. That’s state elections. The book bans and bans on trans kids playing sports? Those all started with local school boards. That’s city- and county-level elections.
If we want things to get better, every one of us MUST VOTE IN EVERY ELECTION. Even the tiny ones. Even the ones that happen in April of an odd-numbered year because some rando city official resigned for personal reasons. They all matter, and right now, they all matter A LOT.
So please vote. In every single election. They’re all important. All of them. And we can’t stand to cede even the tiny stuff right now.

Every fucking day. That’s how it feels at this point.

To all my American followers out there: stay safe. Please. The outcome of this may very well be a disturbing one.
There is still a chance to disarm this grenade, however. Go vote. Do whatever you can to make sure you can vote. Convince anyone you can and do whatever you can to make sure they can go vote too.
Your vote matters more than it has ever.
The world is watching.

if the blue party wins I will draw 100 requests of literally anything (so long as it isn't a hate crime) for free. Not just sketches, but full bodied with color, shading and everything. Actual effort.
Vote blue. I don't want to lose my rights.

i think most americans (including me, and especially people on tumblr) need to practice three things:
the wisdom to acknowledge when you don't know much about global issues
open-mindedness about the world and a desire to learn more
most importantly, to know when to shut up and listen to marginalized people instead of talking over them
