does shouto have any feelings for reader?

yes! he does! they aren’t anything super serious—like, he isn’t heartbroken over her or pining over her or in some sort of desperate love with her, but he absolutely feels romantic + sexual attraction toward her.

would he ever act on it?

he definitely does, although he isn’t as forward (or stark) as touya is. shouto is almost, in a way, subtly manipulative with his affections; kinda tricks reader into thinking it’s something she wants or is doing (whereas touya just takes without asking in any way at all, without any buttering up, melting n softening, or finessing. to touya, it is more fun to take by force and watch her face screw up in disgust or hear that indignant squeal that catches in her throat, sticky and squeaky). shouto mostly steals little kisses and soft touches—small things that he’s sure natsuo won’t necessarily miss.

how would natsuo + touya react?

natsuo doesn’t mind as long as it stays limited to just sweet lil kisses and cute lil touches (hand-holding, hugging, sitting on his lap, cuddling, walking arm n arm); fairly innocent stuff. if shouto wants to take it any further than that, he knows he needs to get natsuo’s explicit permission, and that’s fine with him. he definitely feels guilty wanting any more than what he already takes—both for his brother (he knows how much natsuo loves reader/how possessive he is over her, and although shouto knows about 80% of the time natsuo will share with him if he asks, he doesn’t want to overstep any boundaries or upset his brother, or take advantage of the doting and love natsuo has for shouto being the baby of the family and all that), and for reader (he doesn’t like putting her in that position and using her like a Todoroki Toy just passed around between the three of them)—so it’s very rare that he’ll push natsuo for anything other than hugs n kisses, but it does happen on seldom occasion. in those instances, he usually likes to frame it as something along the lines of comfort; touya was especially mean today, and poor little reader is so upset, and her sweet Daddy is so busy and nowhere to be found, and please, nii-san? let me make her feel better, let me take her mind off of it, yeah? promise i’ll be real gentle <3 (shouto likes to tell himself that he isn’t as scummy as his older brothers, but he is, just in a more manipulative and less straightforward way). touya, on the other hand, fucking hates that shouto’s allowed to touch her at all. he can’t wrap his head around why natsuo permits such a thing in the first place; it’s entirely inconceivable to him. the thought doesn’t only inspire sharp flashes of scalding anger, but a pervasive, inexplicable, and unfamiliar feeling of being upset, too, which is even more irritating, since touya can’t figure out—or, more appropriately, won’t admit to—why he’s feeling such a way, why shouto in particular makes him feel in such a way (it’s because touya cannot handle being second to shouto, ever, a feeling that stems from being thought of as inferior to him as a child—thus, he now feels as if he needs to beat him in every and all aspects of life to prove that he is worthy, that he is better).

39. Leaning into the other’s side

There’s maybe two hundred people in the room. Your partner is elsewhere, slipped away, silent as a ghost, and you’re in your element. Smile. Small talk about the canapés. This woman thinks you’re cute, from how her eyes follow you, shoot her a wink. Brush your hands together when you hand her a drink to sneak a peek at her mind— not anybody terribly important, but she’s got some decent gossip about the people that are important for you to pay attention to.

She laughs, smiles back. You’re charming, when you want to be. You know what expressions to make, what words to say. Gestures, how to hold yourself. Most of the time, you don’t even need to think about it.

The sensation of being watched, the feather-light touch of your partner peering at your mind. As familiar as a hand slipped into yours. You bring a status update to the forefront of your thoughts— chasing a gossip thread, situation normal, all safe. Your partner will be able to pick it up.

Your own telepathy doesn’t work quite like that. If your partner has an update for you that can’t be spoken aloud in a room full of civilians, it has to be shared at closer range. No mics or earpieces, this mission. Running light.

A soft collision, as your partner bumps against you, weight against your side. Slipping a physical hand into yours, this time, along with the leaning, and you turn to look briefly with a laugh and an excuse a little possessive today are we, my apologies, miss, pardon us, even though you already know who it is.

Performative perception with your eyes, when you’ve already got everything you need. There’s skin against your skin, and you’ve never managed to escape that need for touch, but your partner’s always been willing to work within those parameters.

Puzzle-box shields, and you know the combination. Your partner is done with the other half of the mission, and unsettled and unhappy with the crowded room. Too many minds against tired shields, like a tree branch hitting on a window in a storm.

You can act the shield, then. Direct attention towards yourself, smile a little sweeter. Keep your partner to your side, safely in your shadow, while you keep chatting with this woman. Colder, now that she thinks you’re spoken for, but you’ll manage.

Funny, maybe, how much steadier this feels, less like you’re just gossamer and gilt over somebody’s doll. Like the half-absent fond awareness of your mind by another brings you into sharper focus.

And this will be over soon, once you’ve finished the mission. Back to cold walls and talodine and unkind eyes watching. But for now, you can have each others’ backs.

Getting a birthday gift for someone who's a LITERAL PRINCESS (Heckie, she's the ULTIMATE PRINCESS!) was always tricky, but it was not enough to sway this little one then from trying!

Sonia's Birthday Asks 2023 - No Longer Accepting!

Small but mighty, Sonia was almost knocked down by the force of Itsuki's hug. Not that she minded, despite her small gasp of surprise. "Oof!" She exhaled, smiling as a pair of small arms and something decidedly straw-like found their way around her waist. Her friend must have gotten her a present.

"Thank you, Itsuki-chan. You remembered!" She replied once the L'il Ultimate let go and she was able to breathe normally again. Most of the younger students tended to keep to themselves or weren't particularly fond of their high school counterparts, but Itsuki was always a warm and friendly girl, eager to teach Sonia about farming or showing her the newest homemade bracelet she'd crafted. Truthfully, there were times Sonia worried about such a young girl working with such complicated and sharp machinery, but she rationalized it away with the knowledge that Novosonian children as young as kindergarteners were taught to drive and shoot a tank. Surely that was even more dangerous than Itsuki's farming equipment, and according to her father's reports, accidental deaths from tank usage had been on the decline for the past ten years.

Now, she had something new to worry about where Itsuki was concerned. The cookies she'd made looked delicious, there was no doubt of that (and she had far more prowess in the kitchen than Sonia could ever hope to possess, it was a tad humbling). What worried Sonia were the designs Itsuki had chosen: all of her favorite films, from Friday the 13th to A Nightmare on Elm Street, their iconic characters rendered into kawaii cookie forms. With a surprising amount of accuracy.

"Goodness, these look so good!" She told her honestly, torn between eagerness and apprehension as she lifted a Leatherface cookie out of the set: Itsuki had even gotten the various folds, and gore, on his mask replicated on the cookie. "But, ah, Itsuki-chan...have you watched these films? All of these films? They can be rather intense and frightening at times, I would not like you to have nightmares."

Ignore the fact that Princess Sonia of Novoselic saw Halloween randomly on television at the age of eight and never looked back. It took some finesse and creativity as a child to acquire more rated R horror films, but she visually gobbled up everything she could get her hands on until she was able to purchase them herself. But Itsuki was likely different and not so inclined to horror in all of its various flavors: slashers, gore, occult, demonic possession, and so forth. It would not sit well on Sonia's conscience if Itsuki was traumatized by horror films on account of simply wanting to give her a birthday present.

I am a queer, minority poc student at a vet school in the USA and I McFucking hate it here. I am from the deep south and moved cross-country two years ago and experienced very tumultuous housing for my first several months. I have a lot of my experience is in working with low income populations due to the demographics of where I worked.
