Post Canon! Yuuji wants to be a university student. He says that after all the war and loss he needs to catch up on rest and just be human- like the rest of them. He blames Nobara’s insatiable nagging about ‘finally being around people with taste’ and excuses it by saying that Megumi needs to find someone to love- whether the brooding guy wants it or not. However, in truth he misses the carefree school life. And he knows they all need a break from curses. So, after a lot of nagging from his side, the trio sent in their uni applications minutes before the deadline. 

Post Canon! Yuuji is dead set on living his best life in the coming three years. To study “something” while attending every book and nerd club with Megumi, every frat party and adventure with Nobara, and hell, maybe show off some of his god-given sports skills he shunned in high school. After all, girls still dug that sort of thing even at uni- the entire ‘jocks’ and ‘athletes’ persona, right?! 

Post Canon! Yuuji is determined to experience everything being a ‘normal guy’ could get him. He intends to make new friends, be social, live life and get laid as much as possible. Be single and date until he is sick of romance. But most importantly, he wants these three years to be about him, his wants, his needs, and to be a bit goddamn selfish for once. 

At least, that is the plan he declares to his friends as they step onto campus, Nobara and Megumi rolling their eyes at him before heading to get their schedules. While Post Canon! Yuuji headed straight to the housing office because he’d rather be Sukuna’s vessel again than drive two hours daily from campus to the Jujutsu dorms. 

Post Canon! Yuuji sees you, the administrative assistant so far from his usual type, and instantly knows his plans go straight out the window. He shuffles closer to you and the large desk you’re seated at, mouth dry and hands shaking like a teenager as he places his papers and ID on the table before you. He greets you with a shaky smile he hopes doesn’t look like a grimace. “H-Hi! I’m here for house- housing!” God, he sounds like such a noob. 

Post Canon! Yuuji can’t help the genuine grin that splits his face as you flash him a look that so clearly reads ‘obviousely’ before typing away at the computer. The way you act instantly reminds him of Megumi and Nobara, and he feels more at ease around you. 

Then, addressing him like an idiot feels familiar and almost like coming home: “Here is your copy of the contract and the key. You’re in the main dorms, in a single room on the second floor. recycling at the entrance, and the kitchen at the end of the same hall.” You explain, pointing out the location of his room on a map and then the location of the kitchen as if he was so helpless he wouldn’t be able to find it without your guidance.

 “Anything else?” You ask yet it sounds more like a common phrase you utter, expecting a ‘no’ and turning back to your computer to prepare for the next poor sod with a task a glorified monkey could do

But Post Canon! Yuuji isn’t ready to let you go. He wants more of your attention, so he says the first thing on his mind; ”Aww, man, a dorm room? Are you sure? I-I mean, I’m certain I booked a flat!-” Yuji rushes to put on his biggest puppy dog eyes- the kind Nobara says makes him look like a wet dog- “Can you check again? Please? Me and my friends are not from around here, and If I’ve fucked up on housing- man they’ll kill me–” Yuuji rushes out a full-on water-works story, he’s even impressed with himself, maybe he should take up theatre.

Or not, but hey at least it keeps your attention on him.

Post Canon! Yuuji drinks in you and studies every feature of you. From the dark daggers you glare at him, then to the way your eyes grow mild with pity, to how you bite your lips in thought until he’s sure he’ll recognise you anywhere, just by your looks or voice alone.

“I’m sorry, you booked a dorm room, and no flats are available at the moment” you put on that fake work-voice that instantly makes Yuuji’s face fall. He likes your real voice- mean tone and all- a lot better. 

Post Canon! Yuuji looks like a kicked puppy as he slowly gathers his stuff from your desk. He barely registers the look of surprise on your face, as if you expected him to talk back to you or pester you instead of politely accepting your words the way he does. But he notes how your expression shifts into hesitation and finally determination. 

Post Canon! Yuuji is about to leave when you clear your throat to get his attention. Then, you lean over the desk separating, you two. “You know..” your voice is quiet, clearly not wanting the gathering students in the lobby to hear you, “Not all the apartment keys are gathered yet so there could still come in a cancellation in the next few days... you’re welcome by to check-” 

Post Canon! Yuuji grins widely- the widest he has grinned in many years. “I’ll be here tomorrow!” he declares before being forced to leave your small office as your boss draws your attention away. But Yuuji swears to himself he will be there tomorrow, the day after, and the next day after. As long as it means he can talk to you, if only for a little bit. 

But first,Post Canon! Yuuji needs to figure out what to do if he actually gets a flat through you. Could he bribe Nobara and Megumi to share the costs with him? Maybe post a ‘room for rent’ ad?

Ohh, well, Post Canon! Yuuji decides, with a skip in his step, he’ll cross that bridge when he gets there. After all, he reasons, you have to do some insane things for love, right?!

What if instead of a sequel we get a film that dramatises the story of the making of Monkey Man. Hear me out.

Like Dev Patel plays Dev Patel, in the archetypal role of the tortured auteur, who makes and unmakes himself in the process of creating his magnum opus.

The resistant beats of Monkey Man are echoed in the Making of Monkey Man as we watch a fictionalised version of Dev Patel - writer/director - struggle against political and industrial blockades (westerncentrism, Hollywood) in order to triumph for the marginalised (make a film with unprecedented representation).

And as fictional Dev Patel - writer/director - battles to create this work, the world of Monkey Man and his world start to blend, Black Swan-style, and he finds himself inextricably collapsing into the Kid, into being the Monkey Man.

Suddenly the making of the film within this film is the making of himself, as well.

And the Making of Monkey Man replicates its source by itself being high genre. It's an homage and a love letter, but also a challenge to the 'Troubled Artist' and 'Brilliant Protege' genre. It transgresses the mould of some historically noteworthy white man being deified by cinema and replaces it with a brown man whose personal artistic goal becomes a shared point of justice through common struggle and triumph.

And in the end you find out that the Making of Monkey Man was written, directed, captained... by Dev Patel.

(and the only reason this won't happen is because he's literally too humble and nice for the egoism of such a venture)

"The ones in Kyoto… they were under your command?" Satoru’s voice wavered, though he fought to steady himself, to stay anchored in the face of everything crumbling around him. He couldn’t afford to fall apart—not now, not with Suguru fading before his eyes.

A harsh breath rattled in Suguru's chest, his lips trembling with the effort it took to respond. "Yes… they were," he gasped, each word a struggle as pain twisted his features. That’s when Satoru’s gaze finally drifted downward, and his heart lurched violently in his chest.

Suguru's arm—or what remained of it—was soaked in blood, the mangled stump of flesh all that was left. Satoru’s stomach turned violently, a sickening wave of nausea crashing over him. He wanted to look away, to tear his eyes from the grisly sight, but he couldn’t. This was his fault. He should’ve been here sooner.

For one dark, selfish moment, the thought crossed his mind: if only Yuta had been the one to die instead. It came fast and hard, like a vicious stab of guilt, and Satoru felt the weight of it settle into his bones. He hated himself for even thinking it, but the ache in his chest was unbearable. He’d have traded anything, anyone, to spare Suguru from this fate.

Suguru’s voice, weak and strained, dragged him back. "No matter what… anyone tells you," he panted, blood smeared across his lips as he struggled to catch his breath, "I hate those monkeys… But I never… I never hated those in Jujutsu High."

Satoru’s chest tightened, the words hitting him like a cruel twist of the knife. Even now, with death creeping closer, Suguru’s hatred wasn’t aimed at them. It wasn’t aimed at him.

A tear slid down Satoru’s cheek before he could stop it, and he choked down the sob threatening to claw its way out of his throat.

"Return this for me, will you?" Suguru groaned, his voice strained as he weakly tossed Yuta's identification card at Satoru. The card tumbled through the air, spinning slowly before Satoru caught it in one swift motion. His fingers tightened around the cold plastic, the weight of it feeling heavier than it should. He stared at the card for a moment, a bitter taste rising in his throat. The object in his hand felt like a cruel reminder of all the broken promises and shattered ideals that had led them to this moment.

"Was the elementary school your doing too?" Satoru’s voice was sharper than he intended, laced with an edge that cut through the tension between them. He needed to know, even if the answer was one he dreaded.

"It was," Suguru replied, his tone flat, devoid of the warmth that Satoru had once known so well. There was no hesitation, no remorse in his admission. "You sent those two, assuming I'd defeat them, didn’t you? To set Okkotsu off."

Satoru’s heart clenched painfully, the accusation striking deep. "I trusted you," he said, his voice barely more than a whisper. "I trusted that the man I knew—the man I loved—wouldn’t kill young sorcerers without a reason."

Suguru let out a dry, bitter laugh, one that echoed hollowly in the cold, empty alley. "I'm a kind person, Satoru, unlike you." There was something haunting in his words, a twisted reflection of the ideals they had once shared. "To think you'd be the one here at my end… it’s almost poetic, isn’t it? Are you going to make sure my family is safe?"

Satoru’s breath caught in his throat, the question pulling him back from the abyss of his own despair. "Every last one of them managed to escape. They’re safe, Suguru," he said, the words feeling like ashes in his mouth. The relief he should have felt was buried beneath the overwhelming sorrow that threatened to consume him. "Suguru…" He hesitated, the weight of the moment pressing down on him. "Tell me… do you have any last words?"

Suguru’s chest heaved with the effort of drawing breath, his body weakening with every passing second. His eyes, once so full of life and fire, now looked distant, lost in some place that Satoru couldn’t reach. "I didn’t think I had any of that left in me," Suguru murmured, his voice cracking under the strain. "After everything I've been through… after everything we’ve been through…" There was a sadness in his tone that Satoru had never heard before, a deep, aching regret that tore at his heart.

Satoru's vision blurred as tears welled up in his eyes, the pain of this moment more than he could bear. "You were my one and only… my best friend," he choked out, his voice breaking. The words felt inadequate, a hollow echo of the bond they had once shared. But they were all he had left to give. His chest tightened painfully, the grief almost suffocating.

Suguru’s lips curled into a faint, bitter smile, though it was tinged with exhaustion. "The least you could do," he rasped, his voice a mere shadow of its former strength, "is hit me with some curses." His eyes fluttered closed for a moment, as if the effort of speaking had drained what little energy he had left. When he opened them again, they were softer, filled with a resigned acceptance that made Satoru’s heart break all over again.

Satoru stood frozen, his hand trembling at his side. Every instinct screamed at him to reach out, to pull Suguru back from the brink, but he knew it was too late. The man before him was not just a curse user—he was Suguru, the one who had stood by his side through everything, who had seen him at his best and his worst. And now, in these final, agonizing moments, Suguru was asking for one last act of mercy, one last acknowledgment of their bond, twisted as it had become.

But Satoru couldn’t move. He couldn’t let go. The weight of everything they had been, everything they had lost, pressed down on him like a physical force. He knew what needed to be done, but the thought of it, the reality of it, was too much to bear.

"Suguru…" His voice trembled, the words sticking in his throat. "I… I’m sorry."

Suguru’s smile faltered, his eyes clouding with pain. "Don’t apologize, Satoru," he whispered, his breath ragged. "Just… do what you have to do."

Satoru’s heart shattered in that moment, the pieces scattering into the void. With trembling hands, he began to summon the energy for one final act, his vision blurred by tears he could no longer hold back. He knew that this was the end, the final chapter in a story that had been written long before either of them had realized it. But even as the power surged within him, even as he prepared to release the curse that would end Suguru’s suffering, one thought echoed in his mind, over and over:

It was then that Satoru finally let go, dropping to his knees, the sound of the concrete scraping against his skin distant, irrelevant. He couldn’t feel anything except the crushing weight of his sorrow, so vast, it swallowed everything else. He didn’t care about the blood staining his clothes or the gritty pavement beneath his fingers. All he wanted, in this terrible, empty moment, was to follow Suguru into the abyss. To leave this hollow world behind, a world that had never deserved them.

you guys just don’t understand how much i love this man OH MY GOD. he admires you and your artwork so so much he keeps complimenting you and you just look at him like ‘🥹’ ok idk if it’s just me but it’s always the art students or any kind of design student that has such good fashion and that’s what armin also loves so much about you. he loves all the different outfits you pull off he literally said “you are the definition of ‘wear the dress don’t let the dress wear you” like OMG???? KISS ME??? but this guy does not like it when you stay up late working on art projects and consuming a shit ton of caffeine. he forces you to go to bed and work on it the next day cause he cares about your health and you cannot stop him. i feel like she would be an art student too so she understands the work and stress that goes down in assignments and tests. occasionally you two would sit together and work on your assignments together but most of the time yall prefer doing it separately. it’s nothing personal but you two agreed that nothing would get done so it’s better to do your thing alone. mikasa honestly admires your creativity so much and is just so impressed by your talent. she’s just so proud of you she’ll be like “that’s my partner!!” but plzzz i beg you to compliment her art because it makes her so happy that you think she has potential when she really does :(( sometimes you sit at starbucks with her and go over some ideas and brainstorm together, showing rough ideas while drinking iced coffee

he really loves the quietness in the room with some music playing through the speaker connected to your phone. it’s not anything loud or chaotic. mainly cigarettes after sex cause it’s giving levi so much. he tends to give some suggestions with your work on how it can be better and most of the time they’re actually helpful and you look at him with squinted eyes wondering if he’s secretly an art student. he likes you watch you work while he drinks his tea and you drink your iced coffee or redbull (i love redbull sm). at night however, oh god. you love art so much that you’re willing to stay up till 2 am drawing random things and it’s not even an assignment. this man is DRAGGING you to bed and your literally just fighting for your life to go back and finish that sketch but he makes you sleep and you get so pissed about it but fall asleep when your head hits the pillow😭

they’re like armin but with some extra energy. they are genuinely so curious with what you work on and what kind of materials you use. if you’re working on a canvas they love seeing how well you use acrylic paints and mix them to make a new colour and they find it so aesthetically pleasing and they don’t know why. they just stare at you like a god/goddess with heart eyes. they love it so much they asked you to teach them basics. you of course said yes but poor hange just could not understand what was happening i feel so bad for them. you both came to the conclusion that hange was not made for art but they still admire it.

Rugan x Aradin totally-nonexistent-next-installment banter WIP

Rugan rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Think assassination is reserved for folks of some standing. Nothing but plain old murder for you.”

“Oh well,” Aradin replied, enjoyably thick with sarcasm, “in that case I don’t fancy it at all. Besides, we both know you’d botch it.”

“You still on about that?”

“Let’s have it then,” Aradin asked as he busied himself pulling his gauntlets off. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”

“Just came to ask for your hand, didn’t I? Throw you over my shoulder and take you back with me.” The younger man’s amused gaze flickered over from where he was unlacing out of his heavy footwear, and a flash of alarm petrified Rugan’s face. “Please tell me you didn’t take that serious.”

Aradin puckered his face up dramatically. “Best cancel the flowers. And they would’ve gone so nice with my eyes.”

“Oh aye,” Rugan snorted. “Would’ve really highlighted the pubescent angst you turned into a personality.”

Aradin pulled the chair back and relaxed into it, swinging his legs up and resting his feet on the table, one foot crossed over the other. “Reckon I’d look good in a dress, big slit in the side so you can see the boots. Get the feelin’ formal wear isn’t really your thing. Bet you scrub up nice, though.”

“Swear to Gods,” Rugan let his face fall into his hands and forcefully rubbed his eyelids.

“You’re so easy to wind up mate,” Aradin clasped his hands behind his head and grinned.

Rolan, Cal, & Lia next chapter WIP - I swear they've hit the bottom and after this next bit of sad discussion in the next chapter they're finally going to have a win and things will start looking up.

Rolan put his elbows on his knees and slid his hands in his hair.

“I’m sorry.”

“It wasn't your fault, Rolan,” Cal said, rubbing his temples. He was so tired, perhaps even tired of making that response.

“I thought that…” Rolan waved vaguely, hoping his pathetic gesture would do the talking for him. “I thought I'd finally figured our way out. But I stalled. Waited around like it was going to come to me. If I’d have acted sooner, if I’d have written the letter when I first thought of the idea. If I hadn’t wasted so long doubting it was even possible we might have left for Baldur’s Gate a great many tenday before this all happened. It could hardly be worse, reputation notwithstanding. The resources such an accomplished wizard would have access to - we’d be long gone and basking in the upper classes of the Gate before Elturel even thought of taking an extended holiday to the Nine Hells. Not to mention the earnings potential.”

“If I can’t eat it, he can keep his gold,” Cal muttered.

“I should’ve thought of it sooner,” Rolan voice clipped harsh with regret.

“Did think of it,” Lia said forcefully, an honest attempt at reconciliation. “Hells, even got accepted. That’s not nothing, Rolan. That one lady seemed impressed.”

“Not sure if impressed would be the word I used,” he mused. “Though it certainly helped us throw our weight around.” He paused, reflecting on that day that they had first entered the basement. He thought about that woman and her vile judgment. Then her child, and that insufferable ball. And then… Rolan shook the recollection away. They had always avoided looking through the remains of that room.
