I need more doomed Yuri. Not doomed in the sense that like their relationship won’t work out but like…doomed by circumstance. Doomed by fate. Doomed because they loved each other so strongly, so violently, so transcendently that everything else is destroyed by the force of it.
I want Yuri that’s doomed but the love persists so viciously that it dooms everyone. I want Shakespearean levels of tragedy Yuri.
I want Yuri that that is feral and untamable. I want Yuri that is beautiful and terrifying and ferocious. Yuri that annihilates anything and everything that dares stand in its way.

Any podcast recommendation for while working out? All the podcasts I listen to are either too funny or too gut wrenching for a workout session T_T

Gaby my love pspsps drop the Girls Last Tour propaganda pls 🤲
maz beloved thank you for allowing me to rant about girls last tour ily okay let's go!!!
Tumblr media
girls last tour, as the name implies, follows two girls on a tour journey through the ruins of a post-apocalyptic world. they scavenge for food and fuel, encounter remnants from long-forgotten cultures, and day after hopeless day they choose to carry on forward.
while this may sound bleak and depressing, it's actually an iyashikei (slice of life). and let me preface this by saying i usually do not enjoy iyashikei stories, but i wholeheartedly think girls last tour is nothing short of a masterful work of art.
the reason i think it stands out from all others in its genre is because it doesn't shy away from despair, but despite it (or perhaps even because of it) still has this undercurrent of hope and a profound appreciation for life.
this juxtaposition of a world ravaged by war and death against two girls trying to make the most of their life day after day is beautifully poignant and poetic. we see the best and the worst of humanity—and it's surprisingly wholesome in its melancholy.
borrowing from the official synopsis:
But as long as the two are together, even an existence as bleak as theirs has a ray or two of sunshine in it (...) For two girls in a world full of nothing, the experiences and feelings the two share give them something to live for…
so yes, it's a slice of life, but if you're willing to look deeper, it has some incredibly profound themes. it gets very philosophical but it doesn't intend to give you all the answers; rather, it simply allows for contemplation on humanity and life as a whole, and it brings it all back to the here and now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's about choosing to keep going—to keep living another day even as the world is falling apart around you. it's about finding joy in the small things you stumble upon along your way. it's about watching these two girls rediscover humanity through what we leave behind and learning to see your own life through different eyes.
it's about choosing not to succumb into despair. yes, maybe you could've made better choices along the way—but you still shouldn't bring yourself to regret the life you've lived.
it's about realizing life is about making the most of it that you're able to amid your circumstances and living it to the fullest. it's about how the people you meet, the experiences you've lived, the things you've learned... you carry them with you always.
it's about how humanity is interconnected through our inherent curiosity and passion and love and perhaps our beautifully pointless endeavors, and how all of these give us meaning even if it will all come to an end someday.
plain and simple, it's about how beautiful it is to live. how even despite all the horrors, you can still find joy in living.
i don't think it's an exaggeration to call girls last tour life-changing, and if any of these themes resonate with you i'm sure you'll end up loving this story too.
some people say this story gave them depression. but tbh i think they're missing the point: this story will cure your depression <3 (yes i'm being hyperbolic but ykwim)

anyway if you'd like to get into it i'd recommend watching the anime first!! (i think the manga's visual contrast and use of negative space work better for the tone, but the anime genuinely did such a wonderful job with the music and some sequences in particular, and imo even elevated them. so for your first experience i'd say 100% anime)
however, the anime didn't adapt the full story and while you are able to get the overall themes from the anime, imo some of the best chapters can actually be found towards the end of the manga.
it's a very faithful adaptation otherwise, so you can pick it up from chapter 30 if you don't want to read from the beginning (and it's only 47 chapters so it's super short!)
also if you watch/read pleaseeee let me know what you think i literally don't know anyone else who's into it and i've been kind of going insane about it 😭
Tumblr media
TLDR: if you like stories that are philosophical and contemplative, that don't shy away from despair but also choose to find the beauty in life, then this story is for you <3

For todaaaay's 3D alter, it's the Japanese version of One Piece, Volume 1! I've been a huge fan of one piece for a while, so this one felt like a no-brainer to make! The wood and Luffy's soles have been textured so they reflect the materials they're made from! It's my first time trying this technique after Laios' armor in my previous Dungeon Meshi cover, so I hope it's come out well!

Thank you so much for the Masks TTRPG rec! My group is between big campaigns at the moment, so will definitely have to try that one out. Are there any other TTRPG systems that you can recommend? *drags you a soapbox*
Hell yeah, I hope you enjoy it!!
I've only gotten to play DnD and MASKS, so I don't have anything else I can personally recommend. But there are some ttrpgs that have caught my interest, like Bluebeard's Bride, Monster of the Week, Inevitable (love a good tragedy), and Burning Wheel and/or Mouse Guard.
I hope yall have a blast with whatever you end up playing!

hi! decided I wanted to give the dn musical a watch after seeing your posts and since you seem like a connoisseur, could you recommend the best version and maybe drop a link if you know where to watch? thank youu 🙏🙏
I just want to let you know that I feel so honored to be called a dn musical conoisseur I am honored that my mad ramblings have earned me this title LOL
I don't know if there is a definitive "best" version, but the version that I watched (and the version that I used for my last post) was the 2017 Jp version with Kenji Urai. I mostly watched that one because Kenji Urai's performance was the one I saw referred to most often in clips/screenshots, but I also personally ended up loving his acting, especially when it came to showing Light's unhinged sides in certain scenes :) (I'm sorry Hayato fans unfortunately I haven't gotten around to watching his performances yet, though I may at some point)
There is an upload of the 2017 Kenji version on vimeo, which is where I watched it. It's hardsubbed and it's probably going to be one of the first results when you look up "Death Note musical 2017" so it's pretty easy to find! Unfortunately the video quality isn't super high, but that's kinda the price you have to pay, haha (if anyone does know of a higher quality upload though, do let me know!)
Welcome to the dn musical club soldier 🫡🫡🫡

Hi! I came across your blog a few days ago, and I just want to say how grateful I am. Your fics are amazing! I’ve been reading them all over the past few days, and I absolutely love your writing style—it’s even better than many books. I can’t stop reading, and the time just flies by! My favorite so far is When I Feel the Snake Bite Enter My Veins. I have two questions:
1. Do you have any Boothill fic recommendations? Since you write so well, I’m sure you read some fantastic stuff, and I totally trust your taste.
2. Will you be updating When I Feel the Snake Bite Enter My Veins? I don’t mean to pressure you; I just want to know if I can look forward for more, hehe.
Thank you so much for your work—it makes my reading nights so much more fun! ( ´⌣`ʃƪ) ヽ(•‿•)ノ
thank you dear, im so glad you've enjoyed!!! that's such a high compliment wow 💝 shockingly i do not have many recommendations!! i kinda switched into writing mode the moment i laid eyes on boothill and haven't really switched back, so i haven't actually done much reading for him. (i havent even logged into my main on ao3 in months 😭 no bookmarks since april... man....)
nvuy's hijacked and its sequel are excellent, and iirc they have a few other things for him not on their masterlist. innovative research by demontied (aka chainslobber) is delightful from end-to-end, and im extremely excited to see where pinkgvts takes her oc fic. otherwise i really don't have much!! you probably have more recommendations than i do hahaha.
as for snake bite, im absolutely going to be updating it!! right now my main priority is finishing up my next big smut fic (if i had to guess id say it needs another 4k to 5k words? hard to say) but after that im going to focus on snake bite. i have just about everything outlined for chapter 2, so it's just a matter of writing it :) i hope you enjoy it as much as you liked chapter 1!! thank you very much for the ask, and happy fic hunting 💖

I'm sure someone smarter than me has said all this before, but 7000 vampire spawn, over roughly 200 years (let's just use that number y'know, why not), is just like. 35 per year. On average, give or take. With the Faerunian calendar of 36*10 days to a year, that's just about one person per tenday.
And going by the rules on "Handling Undead Hunger" outlined in Libris Mortis (yes it's 3.5E but the most complete guide on the undead in DnD that I know of), a vampire would need to feed roughly every 3 days in order to be comfortable.
30-some missing persons going unaccounted for over the course of a year in a city with as much crime as Baldur's Gate, is... probably reasonable, but there's likely at least some indication of an upper limit to how many mysterious disappearences the Flaming Fist will just not bother investigating. I don't recall there being mention of anything like willing blood donors or anything (if there were some and I just missed it this whole thing falls apart btw), but to go out and nab a new person each time ~~Master~~ is feeling peckish, that's just. That's just unsustainable. That'd be 120 people per year, or 2.5 per tenday. At that pace, not only would they have all gotten caught, they'd have completed the ritual in like under 60 years (which, from Sebastian just being alive, we know they got started at least 170 years ago).
So if we assume that the number of those brought in remained at least kinda consistent regardless of how many spawn were out actively hunting (20-50 per year sounds... kinda realistic), it could be reasonable to also assume that each victim was, on average, the "meal" for roughly ten days before ultimately being drained fully and turned. (Yes, I thought about draining them first and keeping bloodbanks, but... leaving them alive to keep them fresher for longer is more cruel, so lbr, it's more likely.)
It's... probably halfway reasonable then to assume then that Cazador fed off the average victim like 2-4 times, over the course of a number of days, no?
There's some room for variation in that number of course, like there were probably leaner years at the start, and later with 7 spawn all hunting consistently, the time between each was probably somewhat shorter, plus there were likely cases (like Astarion) when there was only one bite total. Maybe sometimes more were brought in at once for those parties that were mentioned, only to be..... stored, and uh..... enjoyed over the course of the next... however long time, during which the "favored" spawn maybe even got to "enjoy" some downtime.
so. that's a series of fun (not relly) thoughts.
I swear, every time I think about Cazador for whatever reason, that whole shitshow just gets worse.
[btw if we take Astarion's "I've bedded thousands" comment literally and assume he personally brought in around 2000 over ~170 years of being a spawn (there could be fewer and he could be rounding up like he consistently rounds 170 up to 200, but if it's significantly more, his siblings all must seriously suck at hunting), that's roughly an average of like... 12 people a year. Which is bad, of course, don't get me wrong, but I honestly halfway expected it to be a much less realistic-sounding number, I guess.]

I feel like a lot of the bad faith interpretations, and straight up misinterpretations, of Dany stem from not recognizing that, maybe tied with Bran, she's probably the least literal POV character.
While yes, Dany the teenage girl is an interesting character in her own right, her story is not primarily a 'psychological' character story. She's symbolic of the larger social movements that she leads, and, more than being an individual literal character, she embodies a sociological story.
Which is why not only does MaD qUeEn Dany not make sense with what's established, it would be incredibly problematic if GRRM DID go down that path. And I don't just mean because it's a tired, sexist trope.

any other creators/writers/newspapers u would rec instead of dhruv? i don’t trust a full time influencer
dhruv rathee did contribute in the mainstream debunking of common right wing bullshit but he's still a softcore sanghi to be honest. for news, i would recommend the wire news, news laundry, alt news, khabar lahariya, sabrang india and mai bhi bharat because they are independent media compared to the PEGASUS controlled mainstream media. for creators i would recommend the ranting gola, mohammed zubair, vimoh, faye de souza and abhishek banerjee - they are quite informative. but once again i would personally say to see through these accounts once and choose what you want, because some of them might be liberal leaning sometimes.
and i forgot, even though it's like a memepage the savala vada's account on instagram i would recommend not only for their satire but for their stories, they post news articles from anti right sources.
