Play Along by Liz Tomforde
Lights. Glasses. Action. Play Along by Liz Tomforde was an emotional roller coaster. We all know and love a strong female character, especially if said character is trying to become the first woman in her career-related field. If you’re a woman working in a male-dominated field, you can agree that sometimes, recognition for your work is not easy. Even if the majority of the people are in your…

The power of Dire Straits music
Something curious happens with the legendary work of Dire Straits. On the one hand, it is a music deeply linked to its time in terms of sound, which causes its listening to reveal without any kind of artifice that we are facing a discography born between the last bars of the seventies and the complete book of the decade from the eighties. However, its vigor and sophistication, among other virtues present in practically all the works published by the band, keep alive the flame of the validity of some songs that seem permanently anchored in the here and now. Perhaps the secret resides in the hypnotic guitar of Mark Knopfler, in his poetic lyrics, in the virtuosic instrumental of each one of its members or in that set of melodies that decisively navigate the oceans of pop and rock, visiting punctually the islands present in the maps of soul, blues, folk, progressive, country or jazz. Or it may be that the key, as is the case on almost all occasions, is an unknown quantity of impossible resolution that should be approached exclusively as the ideal reason to rediscover the masterful repertoire of one of the most important musical formations of the last decades. Taking a quick look at the six studio albums they released between 1978 and 1991, we find ourselves before an overwhelming number of classics that time hasn't managed to bother one bit. Huge songs that are presented and developed with the fluidity of miracles, the impetus of stampedes, the verses of nocturnal romanticism and that unmistakable melodic hook that makes the unattainable seem easy to touch. There are, among many others, pieces as essential as 'Romeo and Juliet', a weakness, 'Walk of life', 'Brothers in arms', 'Private investigations', 'Money for nothing' or the inexhaustible 'Sultans of swing' . Themes that have marked the soundtrack of several generations and that continue to add fervent admirers thanks, among other things, to proposals such as Brothers in band. Made up of almost a dozen musicians, this Galician group has become, over the years and the echoes of its famous concerts, an unmissable event for those who keep Dire Straits in a reserved space in their memory. With a staging beyond remarkable and an anthological repertoire, Brothers in Band present a tribute as sincere as it is energetic to one of the bands of our lives. Read the full article

So technically i didn't lie about there only being one more chapter but also technically i did. Welcome to Chapter 17, Part 1. Today is this fic's third anniversary! Happy bday, little dude.
“What are you doing Saturday?” Tissaia asks, fingertips brushing lightly across Yennefer’s shoulder. There seems to be some trepidation in her voice—Yennefer frowns slightly, but replies without hesitation, affecting an utterly casual demeanour. “Dunno. There’s this lovely florist over on the east side of town—you may have heard of it? All local British flowers.” “You’re impossible.” “The shop and the owner are both lovely, you see—I thought I might pay a visit,” Yennefer finishes unfazed. She lifts her head only slightly to tilt her chin upward then, peering up at Tissaia through her lashes. “Why?” “Triss has agreed to trade a day with me, if you’ll let me take you somewhere.” Yennefer practically purrs, levering herself upright to meet Tissaia’s eye properly. “And where might that be?”
Stay tuned for Part 2, aka the Actual Final Chapter!

Shari Lewis & Lambchop♥️
Tumblr media
youtube
Okay, so I wanted to share this with you guys just because. Shari Lewis was a celebrated comedian and ventriloquist, who performed with a gaggle of sock puppets the most famous of which was Lambchop. Ventriloquism is a type of voice-acting done with the aid of a puppet of some sort or an old fashioned wooden dummy. Which frankly are fucking terrifying -- the dummies, that is😅
Seriously, why do you think The Night Of The Living Dummy Goosebumps arc did so well? It's cause those things are creepy as fuck.
Shari's performances go all the way back to the 1960s when her first show took over the time slot that had previously belonged to Captain Kangaroo. This is her unseen screen test for NBC from 1958.
youtube
Part of Shari's and Lampchop's appeal is that the characters were very self-aware and didn't take themselves too seriously. Lambchop was known for often breaking the fourth wall and was very sassy as hell, and seemed very much aware of the fact that she was a puppet. Part of the reason why is because a lot of people simply did not take Shari seriously as a performer. This is evidenced by the fact that after her screen test in 1958, Shari and Lambchop did not make their way to national television until the year 1960. Not only that but in the 1950s, the area of TV ventriloquism -- back when there was still a market for that type of thing -- was a male dominated field. And by the time the 1980s-90s rolled around people stopped taking ventriloquism seriously as an art form.
youtube
Shari and Lambchop bicker onstage in 1982.
By the 1990s, Shari was a popular children's and family entertainer and had starred in two children's TV shows. Those shows were Lambchop's Playalong and The Charlie Horse Music Pizza, the latter of which ran for only two seasons until Shari died abruptly in 1998 at the age of 65.
youtube
Lambchop and friends sing "The Song That Doesn't End," on Lambchop's Playalong.
youtube
Lambchop and Shari guest star on the 90s sitcom The Nanny.
Today Lambchop tours with her sister Mallory Lewis, Shari's daughter, and because they frequently perform for the military Lambchop is an honorary three star general in the Marines😮
