🖤Dark AU, Post Three, A Better World...

(Warning! This post mentions death, dying, gore, yanderes, and implied drugging. Do not read if this upsets you! You have been warned...)

• You weren't sure what you were expecting on being back with your team. You'd expected maybe some crying, or a lecture, or even being banned or kicked out... Not everyone being older, clingy, and seeming to harbor something dark within...

• Recovering is hard. Your abdomen had been cut open before you had... and while it had healed some after you and your friends came back... it hadn't healed all the way. So that meant your... "team"... had to bandage it, stitch the deepest parts closed, and then would not leave you alone. This would have been fine in any other scenario. Needed, or wanted, even. But everyone here just seemed off, somehow. Desperate. Darker. More dangerous. It's like when you and the others had ... they just snapped. And that wasn't good.

• Right now, you're sitting at breakfast with your friends, as well as the beings who appear as Logan, Victor, The Professor, and Scott and Jean. You feel small whenever their piercing gaze crosses over you, as though it's peeling back your skin and trying to see what's underneath, trying to find out why you won't give in. It feels heavy, intense, too much. You do your best to ignore them... even if that means having to try and drink the smoothie they made. The color is light, the scent sweet, and it makes your stomach growl. But you don't trust it. You don't trust them.

• Kurt seems to have no such qualms. He's busy trying to drink his own smoothie, sitting on the same side of the table as you, his tail wrapped around your ankle like a hand seeking comfort (or a chain keeping you attached). You can't blame him. You know that... You know you should have been more careful. That you should have planned harder, or waited one more day, or just done anything else differently to save you all from... His tail squeezes tighter, and his eyes soften at you. He reaches under the table and grabs your hand, giving it a light squeeze. You breathe out, trying to think about something else.

• Kitty sits on Kurt's other side, nervous. You smile lightly at her, trying to ease the tension, and she smiles back, timid. She drinks some of her smoothie, and you hum lightly as you peer at yours again. Pietro already went through two, but you understand. He has a fast metabolism, and he honestly needs every bit of nutrition and food he can get. You're worried. He's just been... he's been too quiet. Where Kurt clings to you or Kitty hugs the three of you as tight as she can, Pietro just keeps watch, guarded, his spine tense and his eyes on edge. You want to talk to him, to try and get to the bottom of what exactly is bothering him, but... you don't want the adults to hear.

• "Is your drink alright, dear?" You snap back up, jumping slightly. Right. You got lost in your thoughts again... You stare at the Professor, trying to shove down any surface worry or fear. "It isn't too acidic, is it? It's a berry mixture, but we tried to use the ones you liked." "It's okay. I'm just not very hungry, I guess..." "My dear, I insist you please try to eat a little. You need the nutrients and vitamins to get better."

• You can see Logan shift, ready to get up and "help" you. You don't know what they'd do, but you aren't sure you want to test the waters right now. You sigh, but take a sip. The cloying taste of sweet berries fills your mouth, and you feel your stomach tighten with pain when you think of not swallowing. You tentatively gulp it down, and feel a bit better. You don't like the way everyone stares at you, with too soft, too dark eyes, watching and waiting... You take another sip, and Pietro pats your arm. You lean into the touch, deciding you need comfort more than you need to be guarded right now.

• "You doing alright, bud? Just, take it easy, okay? You're fine, we're safe, okay?" he says, whispering softly to you. You nod, not wanting to talk about it. The conversation goes up again, but you let it turn to white noise around you, only listening for keywords or any hints of what secret the adults could possibly have...

• "Hang in their, mein freund. Ve vill be okay," Kurt whispers. You smile, more a grimace than anything, but you stay huddled between your friends. You feel safe here, if only with them...

• If he's being honest, Kurt doesn't know how to feel about all of... this. His mother, his sister, his whole family, they're all older! The world is strange now, speaking of peace and friendship rather than war and violence. The adults keep saying they are okay, that they are safe, that no one will hurt them, that none of them will leave them. He... he doesn't want to be left alone. He can't stand the idea. Kitty leans into his side, and Reader squeezes his hand again. He sighs. He is here. He is safe. They are all safe. God has delivered them, and He has brought them home. Kurt, he... he felt scared, when they had been captured. When they were experimented on, tortured, kept locked away and hidden, with no way for their family to find them. He felt so, so lost. So afraid. So alone. But his friends were there. Reader was there. And they had been willing to sacrifice themself, to be the scape goat, the sacrificial lamb, the one who took all the punishment, all so he and Kitty and Pietro would be safe. Then they gave up their own life, all so they could escape, or try to... He... he felt grateful to them. Grateful for them. They were like a blessing, an angel in disguise... Maybe... maybe they were...? Or maybe they were someone blessed, who helped others, who was beloved by God and His Heaven...? Kurt didn't know for sure, but... he couldn't let them get hurt. He had to keep them safe. They were his friend, they were family, and he couldn't bare to see them suffer again...

• Kitty thought she was taking all of this pretty well. Okay, they're in, like, the future. Surprise, everyone they know and loved was older! And scary! And... well, okay, so far were only taking care of them. Which at times felt scary, but no one was hurting them, or being mean or rude, so it was good? Right? She... she didn't know how to process all of this. Seriously, what had happened?! She thought all of them were goners, had died, and then they're back (not unharmed but they're alive!), and then they're captured by their team (their family) and brought back to the Institute. So, all is well, right? One would think that, but... she isn't sure. Sure, the others act the same, they say they love them, that they missed them, but... but then why? Why does she feel so scared, so wary, of them? Like they'll pop out of the shadows or keep them caged? They're their team! They're their family! They wouldn't do that, would they? She tells herself they wouldn't, that they care, that they wouldn't do all of this for them if they didn't... But Reader is wary, too... and they're her friend, one of her best friends... She wants this to be good, she really does. She doesn't want to be scared anymore! She doesn't want to be hurt anymore! She doesn't deserve that! Kurt doesn't deserve that! Not Pietro! And not Reader! They're all funny, and sweet, and brave, they're all nice (when Pietro isn't pulling a prank war)! So who should she trust? Her friends, or their family? She... she's not sure she can choose... but the moment something is wrong, she will get them out, and they won't ever be hurt again...

• Pietro has seen better days. Felt better too. What. The. H*ll. He and his friends survived H*ll on Earth. They put up with the secret, evil scientists and government officials and generals and soldiers, they took beatings, they were pushed to their f*cking limits, and then they DIED. What. Does. He. Do. How do they even begin to recover from this? And Reader... Look, he trusts them, with his life, he might add. But they just, they lied, to him, to Kurt, to Kitty, all so they could go sacrifice themself so the three of them could escape. How does he even begin to deal with that? How does he forget it? He doesn't want to accept it. He wished it hadn't ended like that. Why, why, WHY would they DO that?! They were supposed to escape together, no man left behind, but they let themself get caught and they DIED. He. He's just so... he's so sick. He's upset. He's scared. He's scared for them... Why would they do this? Don't they know he cares, that they care, that they love them, that they'd miss them? Do they think themself worthless? Does Reader hate themself? Do they know what they did? Do they know what they've done? He doesn't know how to talk to them about this. He needs to. He doesn't want them hurt ever again... he can't lose them ever again... they... they scared him... they let themself die for them, for him... He just wants all of them to be safe... He doesn't to hurt them, he doesn't want to make them cry, but if they can't save themself too, then he'll make it so they are. Even if they means... even if it means finding other means to do so...

• You're glad when breakfast is over. You feel tired, but honestly... you really want to just hug your friends and forget for an hour. But when you do wake up... you need to have a talk... You just hope they'll listen.

Platonic Yandere Kurt Wagner Headcanons

Kurt loves to scare you any chance he can get. You’re washing dishes? He will teleport behind you and taze you by digging his fingers into your sides. You’re walking into a room, he will appear right in front of you and scare the shit out of you.

He just laughs when you yelp, he thinks it’s so funny. He grins when you smack his arm and when you get angry. He apologizes for scaring you but he doesn’t really mean it. You should have seen the look on your face!

He makes it up to you by buying you your favourite snacks and playing board games with you.

He gets a little jealous when you hang out with your other friends, but he doesn’t do anything about it. He doesn’t want you to actually be mad at him. He just wants to annoy you. <33

He loves to listen to you talk about your hobbies and interests, he will listen to you for hours if you could talk for that long.

He always has his tail wrapped around your arm when he’s next to you, like he’s afraid you’ll wander off and get into trouble. He lowkey babies you sometimes, essentially when you get sick.

Teases you when you can’t reach something on the top self, but he doesn’t help you right away, he pokes fun at you about how you can’t reach anything without his help. Doesn’t matter if you are taller than him.

Did you know that he is a devout Catholic? He will say Grace with you before every meal. He’s very open about his faith, and he’s willing to share it with you if you want to listen.

He loves to cook food from his home country, Germany, for you all the time. From the classic schnitzel to making you homemade sauerkraut.

Overall, even though he can be annoying, he cares a lot about you. He would do anything for you, all you have to do is ask. You are his dearest friend after all. <33

The meeting (Balasco au)

N/A: so I was thinking about an interaction between Yana and Kitty and here I go.

Reality is a flimsy thing to Illyana Rasputin, the sorceress supreme that saw her share of oddities in many realities, however, having a reality where feudalism is at its peak again is not in her top 10.

The US being an empire is normal to the Russian girl, so the change, while may warrant many complains or flatteries, means nothing to the blonde girl.

One thing that truly deserves to be a highlight in this scenario is Balasco and Kitty. A shudder creeps on the blonde girl as a punishment for even put those two names together, Kitty (her dear and beloved friend) and …Balasco?

Currently, Yana is living in her old apartment surround by old books(Kitty´s book “A man loses contact with reality if not surround by his books” “that´s charming and all but when a monster attack us I don´t think Pride and Prejudice will save us” “Are you sure?”) and feels worries and anger mixing in a familiar force that the blonde girl knows.

“Still frowning? that isn´t good for your face” says Kitty breaking the stupor that Yana was in to now induce Yana to an astonishment “close your mouth or you will catch flies”

The girl runs to Kitty and hug, the action was tender and sweet even through Yana (it is important to note the height difference between them. Kitty is taller one) is lifting Kitty up like she doesn´t weight anything.

“Goofball” is Kitty´s nickname and the young woman has a broad range of names under her belt “ You are back? Did you escape? Only you to trick Belasco easily” There´s a proud tone in her voice and there´s no reason to hide the disgust for the mere name Belasco.

Kitty in a motherly fashion(is impossible to not think about her own mother or even Ororo in moments like this) careless the young girl hair calming her down.

Maybe, I can be a mother. One day, maybe.

“I want to explain what happens, and I hope you don´t hate me, just let me tell the story,” she says kindly and tenderly and Yana´s eyes are glued to Kitty.

“When you were brought to the Limbo, I follow through and I meet Belasco, you were sleeping the whole time and I did the sensible thing and try to fight Belasco” Yana look in a mix of incredible and disapproving(“you could have to try something else” “shush, let me carry on”) combine with her powerful bangs, it is a familiar expression to Kitty.

Is my motto: be my friend and I will fight for you. It could be worse, the Kingdom heart motto is literally: I would die for you.

“And I tried to kick his ass, but I couldn´t do it…so I bargain for your sake” Yana´s eyes widen but the words escape from her mind “and oh, before that He turned into a cat because haha my name is Kitty and cat puns, I told him it wasn´t very original and having the name Kitty Pryde means I have heard to every joke with this name”

Trying to gain time is a tactic Kitty knows by heart and knows it won´t work with Yana who still is hugging Kitty like a little duckling attached to its mother. It was cute.

I guess, in a bizarre way, I´m a sort of mom. MAYBE.

“And things get weird when he found out my name, but, we made a deal, you would go back safe and sound and to never return and I would stay there”

“But you are here”

“ Yeah, here comes the weird part: Balasco is actually Kurt Wagner, my Kurt” a hue of pink adorned her face because it does sound suggestive and it shouldn´t have to come out like that “ and I´m not his prisoner…I live with him, it was part of the deal”

Sort of, I can leave him anytime but he knows I won´t do that…does he knows that?

“And I know you dislike Belasco and you may hate it "me, the situation and I can´t blame you ” but Kurt is my best friend and I can´t leave him alone, I can´t do that. I must try to save him, at least I can do"

Yana looks deep into Kitty´s eyes trying to reach her soul, trying to see if there´s any magical spellbound on her anything forcing the young woman to do what she just did.

Nothing, only anxiety, and fear. With a heavy sigh, Ilyana Rasputin concludes that there´s no magic clouding Kitty´s sense.

“Goofball, I can´t ever hate you” as if this is possible(she did enter into Belasco´s realm to save me? and she thought I would be mad? silly goofball) but can´t understand why Kurt deserve any attention “but I can´t grasp why Kurt deserve salvation”

Kitty is a bit surprised by this statement but not completely.

“Are you thinking it would be better if I just leave him be? Like people told me to let you be?”

“ It wasn´t the same”

“You and Kurt meant the world for me and I would die trying to save you two, I don´t expect you to like or forgive him, not by a long shot, but I want to …” she trails off she wants to save a demon lord? Does she want to understand him? what does Kitty want? “ Kurt save and sound”

Another sigh escape Yana´s lips and muttering something in Russian that can be roughly translated as “heterosexuality is the worst”

“I don’t hate you, I don´t condemn your actions, but I know you would try to save him” Yana would like to voice out that Kurt isn´t that important (but then again, sure someone said the same about her and …Kitty promptly told them to fuck off) “ so I can give the benefit of doubt to Kurt here, I can try, but Kitty, if he so much look you in the wrong way I´ll destroy him”

“I know and thank you for understanding” and adds to break the ice “So how is the feudalism treating you so far?”

“A prince tries to court me, I knock him out of the horse and laugh”

“That my Yana alright”

I'm back and still a nervous wreck!

I had the stupidest idea and wanted to know what you thought.

For X-Men evolution because I think it fits best there

Reader who wholeheartedly believes in conspiracy theories, reader who doesn't believe mutants are real even when they themselves are one believing that instead the government made up mutants as a lie to genetically enhance people and get away with it. Wiping their memories and leaving them to fend for themselves, they wholeheartedly believe that their memory was altered (when in reality their mutation just mentally messed them up, think like their body releases toxic gasses or something like that readers been breathing it in since they have no control over their mutation and it makes them smell strange one of the many reasons why they have no friends)

So reader goes to the same high school as the X-Men/brother hood but not with either groups from the start, this strange quiet and weird smelling child who rambles about conspiracy theories and while their theories are... Unique they aren't hateful of mutants so the X-Men don't really notice them they blend into the background mumbling to themselves and forgetting where they put their hoodie (it was on the back of their chair)

Reader gets sent to the principals office a lot due to the way they act causing raven to get closer to reader their charming attitude and slightly messed up speech and memory issues making raven into the first platonic yandere eventually having the brother hood keep an eye on them.

I imagine reader sticks with the Brother hood while also not being a part of them just rambling forever about bigfoot or area 51 and the brother hood don't have the heart to tell this strange child that got held back a grade their weird like so many others have.

And when Kurt shows up the X-Men become platonic yanderes Kurt letting them ramble to him during one of the only classes they didn't share with toad at the time (I can never remember when characters in X-Men evolution get introduced I only have a pirated version that takes forever to start so it isn't worth setting up an entire thing just to watch one episode) and so Kurt goes back to the X-Men talking about his strange new friend who Jean and Scott remember seeing around the school, so with interests peeked they start looking into this teen, a teen who's parents never come to parent teacher conferences a teen who has been known to be very good at forging signatures on permission slips doing it for extra cash, a teen whose address is missing from official paperwork thanks to raven and a teen who always comes to school in dirty clothes a teen who doesn't have a phone and uses the library computers, and showers at a 24 hour gym every other day.

And so slowly one by one this child sneaks their way into their hearts and into adoption papers.

I'm writing this as someone who had lived in a house for a majority of my life that was filled with mold I was allergic to my mom promised it wasn't black mold but now I'm realizing it probably was I slept with my head inches from it for years it messed me up in the head, some of the side effects were "mold rage" that's really what it's called and memory issues I kind of used this as a way to vent about what happened in my life, I really didn't mean to do that I'm really sorry you can ignore this if you want typing it out just made it better and spinning it into a fun story was even cooler.

No, no, it's okay, don't worry. I'm sorry you had to experience that, Anon. While I didn't deal with mold, I did once or twice, when I was younger, have a bad hallucination, which I didn't understand, and I believed a few things that seemed crazy (but looking back on now, was caused by stress and trauma). It isn't easy to have your mental health or perception messed with, and it isn't funny, either. (So yes, to anyone reading this ask/drabble, do not ever make fun of or try to trigger a person who has something like Anon or I mentioned. It is NOT, and I MEAN, NOT FUNNY AT ALL.)

Okay, let me see what I can do for you, Anon, maybe call you 🐝Bee or 🐝Wasp Anon? Or maybe 💛 Anon (Yellow Heart Anon)? Let's try this new mutation out-

• Reader is the sort of person who thought everything had a secret to it. The government? Was run by lizard people or aliens, or had a secret organization who experimented on people. Area 51? Definitely held aliens and maybe eldritch nightmares, and possibly secret evil projects to take over the world. Bigfoot and yeti and dragons? They were all real, they hid in the forests, and were probably nicer than most humans Reader knew. And school was designed to indoctrinate children from an early age, all because of what happened in ancient times, which was overthrowing the king and queen and chopping off their heads. So. Yeah. They they had a lot of ideas.

• They had so many ideas and ways of saying them that their teachers usually sent them to Principal Darkholme, whom wasn't nearly as bad as some people made her out to be! Sue certainly did yell at Reader; no, she just let then ramble for a bit while she looked through their papers (and maybe spied on someone, because this lady can't just be a principal), and gave them a weird look. Not a bad one, no! Just well, not mean but not happy but not annoyed either. Something that made her tell them to come to her if there was a problem, and that some of her students would start taking classes with them.

• Reader liked these new kids! This one guy looked like a toad or frog, and he smelled a bit funny too, less like propane or like the house was in danger, and more like swamps and leaf litter. Maybe he was a frog person! That would be cool! Unless the government caused this, and now it's not so cool and they need to get kicked in the ****... Oh... they can't say that... Oh well. This Peter? Piro? Pietri? guy is really fast and talks a lot too, and doesn't seem to mind showing them all his hobbies, even asking if if have any they want to share with him! Woo, another person to hunt small bug dragons and look for fae with! The giant one is kinda cool, like, he seems unmovable and unbreakable! Is he part whale? Part rock? Part demigod?! Whatever he is, he's strong, and is gentle with them like he is with the Toad guy. The shaky one (he isn't a rock, but he insists he is more rock-like than shaky, which is nonsense) seems to keep people like Duncan and his posse away, so he's pretty chill! And then there's the witch, who's magic and is so awesome and is really red. Maybe she's like, a chaos witch? That would be interesting... maybe she has a coven Reader can try to join...

• Those five let them talk and even chip in their ideas, but then start insisting they're mutants, not magic, or aliens, or government experiments. Reader points out they wouldn't remember that part. That just earns them an odd look, somewhere between sad and worried, but they're back to rambling since they don't need to worry about their friends not knowing certain things. It's okay not to. Reader can't remember certain things either, and they don't always say things how they want to say them, and they aren't wrong for being that way, so their friends aren't wrong for not knowing either.

• They gain a new friend, who turns out to he a blue fuzzy elf. He's funny, and German, and Reader is certain he is part angel, because he's that nice. He talks with them, even shows them his powers, and asks what Reader can do. And Reader laughs, saying they don't really know... He looks at them, says he knows someone who can help, and that's how Reader meets his friends (or family. They seem like a family). Their professor/dad says they're all gifted, and so is Reader, but Reader says that they haven't noticed anything so far. The man says he can read minds, and Reader asks if he can read theirs... The man nods, goes quiet... and he seems to panic, his eyes going sad in the corners and his gaze a bit haunted or winded. The others notice, but Reader doesn't know what's wrong... They're asked to visit them every day, so they can get to know one another, as friends do, and Reader agrees, happy to have more friends!

• It's so odd, meeting so many new people! They've finally gotten everyone's names memorized (it took a few weeks, but it was worth it!) There's Principal Darkholme, who also crossdresses as Mystique (cool, she can change colors and shapes!) There's Todd or Toad, their friend they share classes with and who smells a little weird and is a toad person. There's Pietro and Wanda, twins, who both look very different from each other, like opposites. Lance is the shaky guy who walks them to and from places, and Fred is who is there as back up in case someone gets too close. Kurt is their fuzzy elf friend (who must be part angel), and who smells like sulfur from time to time. The Professor is sweet, if a bit authorative, and tries to make them tea and discover their power. Jean and Scott are two older students who both seem to like the colors red and green and yellow, and they both start driving Reader to where they need to go. Kitty is the one in pink who seems to go phase through things, like some Twilight Zone person, and Rogue is the one in green and black who can do anything. There's also Logan, their old-but-not-old guard/dad man, who growls a lot and smells like leather and seems worried about them. Storm is a goddess, who controls winds and rain and clouds and lightning and snow and sunshine (she's so cool!). And Hank is their friends their dad, who likes science and listens to Reader's theories and tells them someone once thought he was Bigfoot (Reader laughs, and asks how that went, and that Hank couldn't possibly be Bigfoot! They're both entirely different beings, that's absurd!) These people are so nice! They even share food with them! And go to the park! And go to the library!

• The others have tried to convince them they're mutants, not government experiments or aliens or magical beings or demigods, but Reader isn't entirely convinced. How could mutants exist? Wouldn't they look super different from everybody? Or be welcomed? And if not, then everyone is just being a ****... they still can't say that... Oh well. They've tried to argue with them, but each time they cut it off before they start sounding choked up or angry or worried. Reader hopes they're okay. They don't like seeing them upset, and they really, really are trying to do the right thing. They just wished it wasn't so hard on everyone.

• The Professor calls them over one day, saying he's finally figured out what their power is. Reader chuckles, saying they've talked about it before, and that Reader can't have powers. He says that no, he knows what it is, and that they need to sit down. So they do, because they won't argue with him when he seems excited and scared. And he tells them that they emit a toxic gas or fume or mist, which causes hallucinations or ilillusions to those who breathe it in or absorb it. He says they do what they do and act the way they act because for quite some time now they've breated it in nonstop. They're quiet, and they feel worried, and they ask to go home. They don't sleep that night, too scared to go to sleep, too scared to turn off the light, too upset to stop thinking about what might be true or false...

• Their friends don't stop talking to them, but they don't want to talk a lot for the next few weeks. It's hard, and feels hard, and they don't want to think even more about how everything could be a lie and it's all an illusion and how it could be a trick- There's just too much to do, homework to do, reading to attempt, home to go back to, and not enough safety to be blank and to stop thinking for once...

• They call in sick for a few days. They stay where they live, with its old walls and decaying floors and smell of old rot and wood and metal, the creak of the boards and squeaks of the hinges making Reader jolt and jump like they've touched a livewire. Their head hurts now. It hasn't stopped hurting since the Professor told them about their... power. They haven't slept well since then either, the few times they slept full of nightmares, their nights full of tears, their mind struggling to understand why this was happening to them and why it couldn't make sense...

• Principal Darkholme visits them, so does the Professor, but they came in while they'd been in a fitful slumber. Waking up, muttering to themself, weaving into the rooms... they saw them, worried it wasn't real, and were soon being looked over by two worried adults, asking if they're okay, if this is their home, where are their parents, do they need help- And all they can do is let them bring them out of the old place, ending up at one one their homes, where they're given a tea to drink, and they try to settle...

• They soon are told they can be helped. That the adults will be giving them something to take, that it will help them, and they don't want to take it- but they end up having to, because it ends up either taken willingly, or it's slipped into their drink or food, and all they can do struggle as their mind starts experiencing something that feels like a pick trying to shatter it in two... It gets better over time, and for once, they can feel a bit... calmer. Like they're seeing things from a new perspective. And now they aren't sure what to do, with the new thoughts swirling in their head, the new feelings, the new abilities...

• Toad or Kurt or Rogue is usually with them. They keep them company, they make sure they took their medicine, and call the others when Reader starts to panic or feel overwhelmed. Sometimes it's okay, and Reeader can calm down on their own. Other times, their illusions and hallucinations effect everyone, and they have to call the Professor or Jean to walk Reader through shutting it down. They struggle to sleep at night, afraid of monsters in the dark; it leads to Evan or Kitty or Kurt usually throwing a sleepover in your room, hugging you, even promising you'll be okay, that you're strong, that you're safe... Mystique always let's you know it's her, no matter what form she is in, and she makes sure she's there if you need someone someone ground you or keep others away. Hank still does checkups on you, but he never calls you crazy or thinks you're weird, he just smiles at you and says everyone is different, but you're all human, mutant or otherwise, and that it's not an anomaly or wrong to go through what you go through, as it isn't wrong that he's fuzzy and blue, or that Toad smells a bit, or that the Professor can't walk. It's all a part of life, and they're so glad you're experiencing it with them...

(I hope I did this okay, Anon. I did my best, and tried to convey this the best I could. And folks, it is okay to struggle with things like this. You're still human, you are valid, and you matter. Please try to get help if you can, and take care of yourself, okay? You're you, and you're loved💛)

(Just watch him cuddle Reader like a teddy bear or a kitten when they're passed out, purring and smiling and telling the others about what he saw that day, how many notes he saw Reader had drawn when they were little, how they're wearing a little X-Men symbol!) Gambit just hearing that they're making Reader a organic body out of different DNA and just immediately going "Gambit's DNA better be in there!"

And that's how he's bribed into coming back to the living world for a bit (maybe his ascension into Mini God of death lets him go in-between the spirit and living world)

Also Morph trying to sneak their DNA in there with the excuse of "well if they have my DNA we'll be able to alter their body more easily!"

Then suddenly everyone gathering sticks, pencils, chopsticks, and needles into a haphazard pile, and are gathered around it, serious and prepared and about to play the biggest and most consequential game of "draw straws" anyone has ever played...

Ngl I was thinking the mystery figure in the Meet Me in the Woods opener was Kurt. The shuffle outside before the bar door opened reminded me of the noise his teleportation made. Plus, if anyone could relate to Smilodon Reader being judged about their appearance/family connections it would be Kurt, so it makes sense they allow themself to be swayed by him.

Hmmmm... good guess, very good guess!

If it was Kurt, poor guy is having a heart attack when he realizes the teen next to him is Reader. He just freezes up- then is asking where they've been, what's happened to them, did they get hurt, why are they still the same size and age, have they been eating anything-?! He's trying to hug them or wrap his tail around them, but Reader is having none of it.

Reader, on the other hand, is trying to leave, saying they've got to go, and trying to push this hyper guy who looks like Kurt (he's older now?) away from them, they're trying to go out the door- But they can't escape him. So all they can do is agree to go somewhere for food, and to talk (amd hopefully avoid alerting the X-Men or any other mutants...)

Almost everyone finds Reader charming (once they get past them being a four to five foot tall sentinel). I mean, look at them!! Who could resist their charm? Their sweet beeps? Their naivety? Their not-murderous nature? They're already a step ahead of, like, half of them! Several of the younger mutants enjoy painting Reader and using them as a friend/model for them to play with, while the older mutants are torn between watching them and laughing or trying to stay on guard.

Yeah, the latter option fails.

Look, Reader is a bit... oblivious. They aren't evil, in the least. Or scheming. Or a liar. They're not... aware enough to do that. The kid? robot? whatever is nice and labels itself a friend, and is currently playing hopscotch with Kurt and Gambit and the kids, so it's a bit hard to find them menacing.

After what happens on Genosha, they wish to go back to that... If only they can get Reader to their new body, and earn their forgiveness...

The hand, outstretched as if to say "hand over the weapon now, don't make me take it from you"! The little holster! His ear/fin/hair thingies! The wire at the back of his head! AAAAAAHHHHHHH! (He's going to need hugs, lots of them)

KURT!!! Look at the sweetie pie! He looks shocked! His sharp claws! His sharp, bladed tail! The arm blades, the swords, the gauntlet-pattern, the fingies! His little feet, looking like paws! (Logan is gonna love that, and Hank, and Victor, and Mystique, and-). The small back spikes/blades! His ears! (They look like bat ears! So cool!) (He accepts hugs, laughter, and food; he's a sweetheart who's walking sunshine, don't upset him, or everyone else gets upset) (he gives great hugs, and so does Reader, and they hug a lot-)

(Scott is in love with Jean, amd she's in love with him; Rogue and Remy eventually become friends and slowly fall for each other; Scott and Alex are big brother and little brother; Rogue and Kurt are half-siblings; Reader is considered a friend by every teen cyborg eventually, at one point or another, because they're just that awesome; Logan and Victor and Hank have a feral mode, and don't calm down unless they see the kids are safe or their friends are safe; Xavier and Erik and husbands, with almost everyone, even the other adults, as wards/family)
