I need more fics where the villains see how much heroes are suffering and they're like "I wanted to see you hurt. I wanted to defeat you. I wanted you to surrender to me- but this- this is not what I wanted. I did not want to see you shattered"
And after that they're like "Nonononono why do you do this to me? Why are you making me feel emotions? Why are you making me feel compassion for you? I'm not supposed to have mercy on you"

Danzen for the ship thingy
Oh yes, I definitely ship it!
If we compare Danzen to Daniel's other main ships (LawRusso and Silverusso), it remains the only one where the karate-rival absolutely turned his life around completely and became nothing less than...Prince Charming.
Chozen went from being this sociopathic, bullying monster to this composed, balanced and powerful man who uses his skills for good. He's got this air of tranquility about him which I personally find both refreshing and attractive--and something Daniel can find rest and reassurance in, especially in the melodrama of his life. And of course, Chozen's got this teasing, troll-like sense of humor that pops up every now and then to toss a few amusing coins into the still waters of his nature. What's not to love??
You just know he'd treat Daniel right in every way! He's a classy, sophisticated guy who is definitely a gentleman in a nice GI. Plus they have so much in common--karate, love of Japanese/Okinawan culture, good liquor, meditation, Miyagi and Miyagi-do. They both learn, and continue to learn from each other, and their relationship is close and warm and effortless without any annoying bickering, lack of remorse, or blatant psychopathy (like Johnny and Terry).
Danzen is criminally underrated, which is sad, because it's a wonderful ship that works well no matter when they're both young, or later on in life. I also genuinely love them as platonic best buddies too, they just bounce off each other very well.
Yes, I really like them together!
Thanks for the ask, @macchiatosdumptruck

for the relationship ask game - 11 (Barry & Cisco), 34, & 47
11. [Barry and Cisco] have just stumbled into a fairy ring, and they've forgotten they ever knew each other! What happens now?
My mind went right to that episode of s3 where Barry got amnesia and fell in love with Iris all over again. In a world with Barrisco endgame...he'd be falling for Cisco (all over again, ofc, because he had a crush on Cisco the whole time in this version of events). And since both of them lose their memories, Cisco would be gushing about Barry too.
But of course they'd both try to disguise it as "friendly banter," because neither of them wanna scare off the cute guy who seems to really like them (platonically, they think. Oh, these lovable idiots).
Caitlin and Iris realize that these two will get their memories back by kissing. And both of them know that Barry and Cisco have been crushing on each other for ages, and are still flirting now, but...how to convince them to go for it?
So shenanigans ensue, in which Caitlin and Iris try to set them up, except those plans go a bit awry. But also, in a way, those plans still succeed, because Barrisco fall more in love with each other until one day they go for it and kiss. And all is well!
(Except they "forgot" where the fairy circle was, so the following week, Caitlin and Iris get stuck there 😉)
34. Are there any well-known fanon relationships (not canon), that you just can't stand?
Oh boy. There's quite a list for this one. And mind you, this is only fandom ships that I have a strong opinion on:
Snowbarry, Zutara, Tokka, Zukka, Silverusso, Samhawk, Irosami, Makroh, Cykesquill (not Aurametis ofc 💞 I’m talking about Athena x Simon), Harringrove, Obikin, Anisoka, Narumayo, Dramione (not that I particularly care about HP nowadays, but still)
(I'm not discoursing about these btw, and anyone who tries is getting blocked ✋ the anti tags are there for a reason)
47. Answered here!

16. What's your least favorite ship for this character? silverusso. i love terry silver as an antagonist/villain but (and this is ZERO HATE like please ship what you want to ship!! and also like, i get it like i see the appeal but) it's just not for me.
18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire? amanda!! for that matter all the women in his life. his mom, ali, kumiko, sam -- love that his relationship in tkk3 with jessica is platonic that was such a good choice!! but his relationship with amanda is so great i love every moment that they're on screen together!

I've been in the CK fandom for a long time, since season 1, but I've really seen Silverusso become rather popular starting in season 4. I think this is due to Terry being re-introduced, Johnny's character unfortunately declining in writing, and just the strangeness of KK3 in general.
Seriously, I never watched the KK movies until I watched CK--when I went back and watched them, I was absolutely blown away by the Daniel and Terry dynamic more than any other dynamic in the movies (except Miyagi and Daniel, for platonic and parental reasons <3). Even in CK, it's Terry and Daniel who hold the main appeal for me even now, more than any other pair. By far. (Though I do like Terry and Kreese's now-toxic-comrade-in-arms dynamic even if I don't ship them, and really like all of Daniel and Sam's scenes!)
Anyway, there's something about Silverusso that makes it this almost Wolf/Little Red thing. They constantly have this going on despite Daniel being a grown man in CK (I think Macchio's wide-eyed perky sweetness and TIG's sophistication adds to this Big Time). It just never really goes away. Also the strange sensual undertones in every interaction they have. It feels almost Bronte-like to me. Like a gothic romance that wouldn't be out of place in Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre or something. Passionate and dark and deep and barely restrained.
And yet, on a lighter note, perhaps in an AU--I think Terry and Daniel would get along fabulously well if you took away Terry's darker angels. They have a lot in common despite their differences, and there's a strangely magnetic draw between them. Also, I think they can be quite humourous together.
On a more shallow note, they look good together, being the absolute opposites on the male spectrum of good looks. Daniel is eternally youthful, doe-eyed and pretty, and Terry's just really handsome in a traditionally masculine way; tall, dark and charming.
In your opinion, what makes Silverusso so appealing? Are there any other pairings they remind you of?
Could you please write an essay on why you find Silverusso so appealing? Why yes indeed, I could, Nonnie! Thank you!
A lot of things you have already mentioned, the Brontë-like dark romanticism between them is certainly a draw for me, the... primalness of it all.
Here goes!
Now, I think that primal attraction is there in all Daniel's 'rivalries', ahem, but these were all boys who, in truly toxic masculine way, have no other outlet for deep, overwhelming feelings than helpless, angry violence.
Terry is much more dangerous, but also much more attractive: his violence, his power, is calculated.
Now before I go on I have to say that I have a thing for strong men, OK. And by strong I do not mean beefcakes. Daniel LaRusso is a strong boy who has grown into a very strong man. Loving, reliable, responsible, sweet, funny, he does chores, he flirts, he dances, and he will sock anyone who harasses you in the nose. The strange thing about Daniel is that he often is at the receiving end of harassment, too, sexual even, and so many women will relate. He's a bit fluid with women: 100% protective mode with Kumiko, though both Amanda and Ali are not the type - they will fuck people up when they look wrong at Daniel and Daniel likes that, too. Poor boy - because he is an eternal boy - really needs backups, and his father figures keep dying on him (though he had decades with Mr. Miyagi; still, that abandonment wound with Mr. LaRusso had already cut him, and deep).
I forever headcanon Daniel's father as Robert De Niro, because Ralph has played De Niro's son on stage and Joe Pesci's cousin in My Cousin Vinny, so I imagine his father to be a strong, working class Italian-American man, like the father in A Bronx Tale-loving, loyal, firm too, hardworking, the type a small boy would idolise as invincible- and then he gets sick. And that rock of a man wastes away before Daniel's eyes. And he tells him to take care of his Mama and Daniel, all but 8, does. Because he has to be a man but he still is a man like Daniel. Much different from those Soprano types, because he is strong enough to be his soft, sensitive self. That takes guts.
Oh, and - some spice with all the sugar: he would 100% kill a man. "Why didn't you kill [Kreese]?" "I wish you would have killed him."
And now you mix that with Terry.
Now Terry Silver is a strong man. And not because he could kill you with his pinkie - although he could probably kill you with his pinkie. But the man gives zero fucks, while having the brain and brawn to back it up. It takes dedication not only to become a Tae Kwon Do master, but stay one until his 70's! He's from money, but he flaunts those rules; he's camp af, surrounds himself with pretty young boys and his best friend is John Kreese: his parents would not approve. But he's still cultured, well traveled, smart with his money, extremely smart about people. He has a moral code about loyalty but God knows what it actually is. He both cares for people and throws them under the bus when they least expect it and to his credit as a person, he's really tried to temper those destructive impulses. For all we know he has spent the last 30 years trying to conduct his own power, madness, maybe even genius into something socially acceptable and who prompted that?
Daniel LaRusso and his honest sweetness, loyalty, and latently murderous impulses.
What a cocktail.
What an intense fascination Terry must have felt for him. He knew right away: "You like that, Mr. LaRusso?"
"Yeah. I like that."
What did he do after meeting Daniel LaRusso and failing to procure and defeat him?
Go on a massive bender and turn his life around.
And then of course, to mention something that may not be everyone's cup of tea: the power exchange between the two.
Daniel's a sweet boy, but he's also a bit of a brat. Sometimes he really wants to be put in his place (possibly in the calm, firm way I imagine his father used to do, but again, those are simply my headcanons). He needles Johnny a few times until he snaps but if you see how Daniel reacts to being manhandled it's quite atypical. Sometimes he fights but when the other is clearly stronger, he turns to putty in their hands. Also, if he really didn't want to be told off by Mr. Miyagi after angrily snapping at him in the first film, he could have actually gone home when he said he would, got on his bike and cycled away. He didn't. He wanted attention.
Terry literally says he likes that attitude on him. He loves the bickering, and he loves putting Daniel in his place too. Most people would probably not want a relationship with somebody if you're constantly circling the edge of violence. But Daniel loves it, seeks it out, and when it happens, goes completely gorgeous, doe-eyed and soft! And other than with Johnny and Chozen, who, as boys, don't have enough countrol not to let the spats with Daniel become very, very dangerous (they both almost killed him) Terry has great control. Terry would never accidently kill him. Terry hardly so much as touches him in tkk3 and even when he fights him, he does it in a calculated way (that armgrip in the fight in "Extreme Measures" was very painful, but as a sensei pointed out - a little lower and he would have pulverised Daniel's elbow. He didn't, because he didn't want to). So if you want to fight, Terry is actually the safer one to do it with (unless he wants to kill you. Which he doesn't, acutally? He didn't kill Chozen or Johnny when he had all the chance in the world).
I also find it very telling Daniel didn't go back for Kumiko - which honestly I think was a mistake - but married Amanda, who in looks and demeanor might as well have been Terry's sister.
So the innocent sweet boy with a dark edge meets the big bad wolf with a chance of redemption, there is passion, there's yin and yang, they're both hot, they both(?) like women too, they're well acted, Ralph and Thomas are interesting artists and fun in interviews... there's just a lot there. It's not a juvenile story, but when they started it they were both in their late twenties and now both men are in their sixties. It can be a little adult and a little complicated. They can handle it.

Karate Kid/Cobra Kai survey
tagged by: @alienfuckeronmain @mochisquish @trillgutterbug & @ceruleangold (thank you for all the tags!!!!)
It’s the year 2021 and you’re obsessed with The Karate Kid. How are you feeling?: Ahhhh I feel great! I I didn’t realise just how much I’d get into Cobra Kai when @pohjanneito gently encouraged me to start watching it, but the weirdly heated dynamic between Johnny and Daniel hooked me so fast. The history, the obsession, the violent passion, it’s all there. Plus I’m drowning in various WIPs, so that’s when I know I’m in the midst of a hyperfixation because I write like a little machine and ignore everything else in my life. I’ve also managed to get friends into CK through my sheer intensity for it.
Did you grow up with TKK or are you new to the series?: NO! I never watched TKK when I was younger, I don’t think. I was big into fantasy and Disney as a little girl, and I didn’t really stray far from that. Though it’s a shame because I think I would have loved it if I had watched it. I would have fallen in love with Daniel and really rooted for him. I moved around a lot as a kid because of my dad’s job, so I think his loneliness and perpetual status as the new kid in town would have struck a deep chord with me.
We gotta do the basics. Favorite character: Ah this is so difficult because if we’re talking TKK then it’s Daniel but if we’re talking CK then it’s Johnny, a.k.a my trash god Apollo!! He’s the reason I got so into CK in the first place. I love how ridiculous he is, how behind the times, how damaged, how much he wants to be a better person. He’s really the heart of the show for me. I’ve said this before but I love that Johnny shows that you can start over at any time of your life. And yes he still stumbles, he still hurts people, he still makes mistakes, but he doesn’t stop trying. And the way he opens himself up to people after numbing himself for years is incredibly touching to watch.
Favorite ship: Lawrusso always and forever. I don’t even think I ship anyone else... Unless it’s Silverusso, which can be interesting and thorny when done right.
Underrated character: Bobby Brown ❤ I actually think there’s a lot of love for Bobby in the fandom, I just wish we had so much more of him. He’s sweet, loyal, strong, and doesn’t take any shit. He also isn’t as toxic as some of the other boys, and is genuinely sorry for hurting Daniel, so that shows he has a kind heart too. Plus I love that Johnny had a friend growing up who genuinely cared for him and looked out for him. All the CK boys are ride or die of course, but Bobby really earns his status as the best friend.
Underrated ship (don’t say therapy, lol): ermmm not a romantic ship, but I love the idea of Daniel and Ali being platonic soulmates... in my fic “ace of hearts” this is how I write their relationship, not actually as a romantic one, but as a strong platonic one where they understand each other and have a natural kinship. Platonic relationships can be just as strong as romantic ones, and that’s how I like to read into their dynamic.
Wax On, Wax Off or Sweep the Leg?: No idea, SORRY.
Which of Daniel’s dumb little outfits is your favorite?: Oh my goddd, this is so difficult because movie Daniel is such an accidental little fashionista at times. It probably has to be his first outfit in TKK (the blue jeans with the blue tank) because light blue looks so good against his skin tone. That OR the iconic blank tank with the shirt hanging off his shoulders, and the jeans and sandals. I love every outfit where he wears a tank top and shows off his slutty shoulders basically.
Character from the films you most want to return, who’s not Terry Silver: I CAN’T DO THIS BECAUSE TERRY *IS* THE ONE I WANT TO SEE. I can’t wait until he waltzes back in, all weirdly intense and handsome and white-haired, and immediately starts calling Daniel “Danny” like a stalkery ex, and Johnny goes mad with jealousy. End scene.
Scene that lives in your head rent-free: Wah so every scene with Johnny and Daniel in TKK, but it’s probably the beach scene where Johnny and Daniel get into their first altercation because it informs the highly intense, push-pull, obsessive relationship they have in CK. That, or the scene from the rehearsal film on youtube where Johnny says he torments Daniel and beats him up because he likes it. I mean, hello?? Nothing encapsulates his destructive fixation with Daniel more than this scene! I’m so mad this didn’t make it into the final film but I’m so glad we at least have it in this form!
Will Anthony LaRusso ever be relevant?: I actually had completely forgotten who this was until I googled it so I think that answers this DJDJD 🙈
You live in The Valley and are forced into the karate gang war. Which dojo do you join?: Oh god, it would have to be the Cobra Kai. I MEAN, it’s Johnny and I’d be in love with him so ddkdkd no contest!! I’d probably be far too soft for Cobra Kai and get shouted at a lot, but I’d get fully indoctrinated, to the point of making lots of cute merch, like crop tops with the CK logo on, and running all the social media accounts where I'd call the Topanga and Miyagi-do students big babies, and probably get into a ton of karate fights with other girls at the mall. Plus I’d probably think Daniel was a rich jerk and would hate him for looking down on Johnny haha.
What’s your training montage song?: Haha so it would probably have to be Gimme More by Britney Spears. I work out a lot to this song and it gets me so pumped!!!
It’s the crossover event of the century! Which TV show are you combining with Cobra Kai for an hour-long Saturday night special?: WAH so not a current show but I always have these daydreams about TKK-era Daniel being a boy slayer in the BTVS universe, and Johnny being his hot but kinda useless jock boyfriend. Maybe there could be a special of CK where Daniel is this older slayer and his students are potential slayers he’s training?? And then it all turns out to be a fever dream or something. I don’t KNOW. Just give me Daniel as a slayer please!!
As a bonus, see this pic @captain-idgie drew of me as a Miyagi-do student! (Mack insists I'd be too soft for Cobra Kai, sigh.) This really shows how obsessed I am with CK 💙
