Rereading the TMI books.

Alec and Jace suck as a parabati pair. Their parabati bond only seems to actually be active when it's relevant for the plot, or for angst. Alec didn't even care when Jace literally died. Jace is constantly saying insensative things about Alec.

This is why your Jalec fics, or even your non-Jalec fics with either of them at the center, are so refreshing to read.

Yeeeah, that's a huge ass problem called "amatonormativity"! :D

Because the author can't possibly fathom any bond being deeper than the Main Romances. So Alec and Jace are deeply devoted soul-bonded best friends. But like. It's not actually that deep because obviously Alec/Mags and Jace/Clary need to be valued higher because they are romantic relationships. Without soulbonds.

But romance is valued higher than any form of platonic love, even in a world literally created with a built-in non-romantic soulbond existing, because the author still suffers from amatonormative thinking.

I'm happy to hear that I'm doing a good job on it though! <3

I wrote Damaged, But Not Beyond Repair which features Raven Reyes from The 100 in a malec fic. That's the closest I've gotten to a crossover, but maybe someday I'll write more.

I don't post WIPs, but I have a malec fake dating fic in the works that may or may not be finished one day as well as a canon divergent fic where Alec winds up an accidental King of Edom after killing Lilith and works together with Magnus who has been trapped in Edom by his father.

Uh... dialog? I guess? I don't know, if you've read my writing, you tell me~ I've been told I write sensitive topics well which is nice

I want to improve how I write settings, pacing, and general plotting. I'd like to make my writing prettier too.

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages on ao3?

However someone wants to include different languages is good with me, but I do have a preference for including a translation somewhere because I don't want to google it

Supernatural. The fic has since been deleted because I wrote it forever ago.

I'm mostly into writing original stuff right now, but I'd like to write a fic from Yurio's perspective some day. I've written at least 1 fic for most of my favorite fandoms, including Yuri On Ice. I think it could be fun to try writing for a book fandom one day.

Uncommon Flavors which is a malec fic wherein Alec has narcolepsy and a service dog, Magnus runs a bakery, and some miscommunication and flirting happens.

scott & allison, ugh these babies like that was scott's first love and he was a stupid teenage boy with his heart on his sleeve and he made so many mistakes but allison holds so much of his heart. always. even if they break up, or don't get back together, or are just friends now, or whatever. she's so so important to him.

scott & lydia, the best of buddies. like this girl could have been like him, bitten by the same wolf and would've been part of the same pack ( even if it wasn't a pack ) but she didn't turn. she had something else going on, and scott wants to help so much with that and he feels such a connection to her anyway. and later he'll never understand how he could have ever gotten through life without lydia because she is one of the most important people in his life. i also do like exploring the idea of scott and lydia romantically ?? like, interesting how that would come around, but mostly i like them being platonic bffs.

on a role reverse for us muns, i'd like to explore dean and sam winchester interacting with scott because hunters coming across a true alpha like scott !!! that would be interesting, especially considering what part of the timeline dean and sam are at.

klaus & hayley !!!! one of my otp's, whether that's romantic, platonic, familial or enemies. i love these two's dynamics so so much, like it honestly has so much of my heart no matter what is going on with them. i love getting into the gritty realities between them as well as exploring how much they have changed and grown and evolved together. also so much potential for canon divergence's !!!!

hayley & davina's friendship !!! like these girls know what you have to do to survive in new orleans and they just ... help each other out when they can. it's all they can do. I think there's just something so sweet about this and i love it. i'd love to see hayley and davina also being like, older, and sister-in-laws, and being like, ugh, mikaelson christmas.

clary & simon, parabatai! best friends! awkward boyfriend-girlfriend! give me them all, like these two are the sweetest ever and clary loves him so much, and she needs him. he's literally the other half of her soul and, ughhhhhh! i love this dynamic.

clary & jace, another one of my otp's !! like these two angel kids struggling so much in this world with all these lies and pretences and false identifies they had been made to believe about themselves, finding each other amongst it all and finding themselves as well, and being together while doing that. as well as all the angst of course, because we can never get enough of that. but i'm good with angst and exploring that but also a happily ever after where they get to live the rest of their lives together. also would be interested in an au where the uprising didn't happen or happened later or whatever and clary and jace were both raised by valentine ... *side eye*.

jace & alec, parabatai boys!!!! that is jace's best bro, his soul, the first person who ever loved him and jace will never ever ever forget that. like alec is his soulmate and i will always scream about this dynamic. could also explore romantic jalec as well if you were interested in that.

percy & vienna, as soon as i read her about i thought of vienna helping percy control himself during a meltdown. like when he's creating a hurricane because of something that's went on and unable to control his emotions, vienna helped to control the weather even if only a little and it was enough to snap percy out of it and well, i don't know, but that's just what first came to my mind ... we could build on that.

peeta & katniss, again, everything, all the gritty details from the beginning to the end, i am so precious about these two, they hold my heart in so many ways. like they are so so damaged but aaaaaaaaaa !

RIGHT SO. i don't offically have rhode as a muse yet but i was talking with another mun about making her one tonight and then i saw kaia born in rhode island and it just ... felt like fate. rhode taking an interest in this one demigod ...

Favorite romantic ship(s): 100% Jalec! Jace is Alec's first canon love, they're chosen soulmates, they click from the first time they meet, Alec would be lost without him (canon!) so yeah. Jalec all the way, they share their soul and hearts. Malace is another ship I like for him

Favorite platonic dynamic(s): Izzy! I love their sibling dynamics, how supportive they are of each other usually, the teasing, the protectiveness. They're great! I also like Alec with Lydia in the show, or with Lily Chen in the books.

LGBT+ headcanon(s): mmh I don't really have a headcanon for Alec, he's gay in canon and that's also what I feel he is. No other labels needed for him. Only that I think his first and only love together with his first and only experience with sex is Jace, and it's enough for him

Job headcanon (in an AU/or future): So for canon fics I'm happy with the choice of him being the Head of an Institute and later consul, but I also could see him in the function of trying to bring the Institute of each country closer together and establish some standards. In a human AU, the classics like lawyer or some kind of banker fit, but I also can picture him very well as a teacher or professor. Or freelance assassin, together with Jace (damn, I forgot to mention that for Jace!)

Animal shifter headcanon: Lizard, to make the perfect Parabatai Lizard couple with Jace 😂

Favorite canon thing about them: I love his dry humour and his grumpiness, and that he's the only one who keeps his common sense when it comes to Clary

Least favorite canon thing about them: How ready he was to forget about his Parabatai once he got laid, and also how easily he forgave Maryse after the way she treated Izzy, Jace and also himself.

When it comes to a friendship being accidentally written as a romance, the first ship I thought of was Dutch/Johnny from Killjoys. They were meant to be platonic partners/soulmates but the writing + their chemistry read as romantic. It was pretty frustrating, tbh because we clearly weren't meant to ship them but...how could you not?

oh interesting, i'd never seen it, haha. i think of jalec too where i'm like i don't understand how am i supposed to take either of their actual ships seriously.

I Love Her, TooRead on AO3

It was late, later than Jace had expected to find anyone else up, when he heard the heavy slam of a book coming from the direction of the library. He knew it wasn’t Clary as she was still asleep in his bed after another early night of terrors. The library wasn’t exactly Izzy’s known hangout and Max was still in LA with his father, so he decided to check. He should have guessed it was Alec, flipping through the pages of another codex, four others thrown haphazardly in a pile of open pages beside him. He groaned and ran a hand through his hair as he slammed another book closed. 

“Dammit,” Alec cursed to himself. He hadn’t heard or seen Jace yet, but Jace could see him, see the stress in the way his shoulders tensed, his arms bulged, and the uncomfortable way his back arched over the table. Jace made a mental reminder to tell Alec to stop bending over like that as it couldn’t be good for his back.

“Hey, buddy,” Jace said softly as he rapped his knuckles against the door. Alec looked up, the usual glare on his face softening when he saw it was Jace. Jace could feel the anxiety lessen in his parabatai rune. Alec’s face immediately clouded with worry and his hand shot to where Jace knew his own parabatai rune was. “You didn’t wake me. I just heard the book abuse as I was walking,” Jace explained with a small smile in Alec’s direction. Alec laughed and shook his head, eyeing another book in the more neatly stacked pile to his left. 

“Research,” Alec said as he grabbed it and placed it on the table in front of him. He flipped through the pages more casually than he had before, his eyes scanning as another scowl grew on his face. Jace walked over and grabbed the book, ignoring the offended look from Alec and plopped down on the couch a few feet away. He beckoned Alec over with his head as he scanned through the pages. It was filled with runes, ones that Jace knew Alec had already memorized. They were mostly runes he recognized, but some that were rare and illegal to draw without Clave approval. He ran his thumb over the wedded union rune, the sacred rune he usually glossed over in his studies, and sighed. 

“What are you doing, Alec?” Jace asked, suddenly exhausted from his place on the comfortable cushions. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes when he felt the couch beside him dip signifying Alec had joined him. He heard Alec sigh and felt the book lift from his lap. 

“We don’t know much about the twinning rune,” Alec started, his voice uncharacteristically soft. Jace’s head turned quickly and he stared at Alec. 

“You’re researching the twinning rune?” Jace asked in astonishment. Alec had so many other things to worry about. With Magnus without his magic and Izzy messing with Heavenly Fire, Jace didn’t think Alec needed something else to stress about. Especially something involving Clary. 

Alec seemed to read his thoughts when he spoke again after a long silence. “I can feel your pain, Jace, and I can’t ignore that it’s because of Clary.” Jace felt his heart clench at the words and suddenly found himself barely able to breathe. “I found this rune,” Alec said as he grabbed another book from the table and opened to a page near the end. “If I read this correctly, it could counteract the twinning rune just enough for us to pull Clary back until we find a real solution.” Jace watched as Alec traced the rune with his finger before slamming the book closed. “I just don’t know if it’ll have any side effects and I don’t know if you’re willing to--” Jace launched at him, pulling his parabatai into a tight hug with his arms wrapped around his shoulders. Alec held him back, the book dropping to the ground with a heavy thud. 

“Thank you,” Jace said in disbelief. “I know she’s not your favorite--” Alec pulled back and let his hands rest on Jace’s shoulder. 

“I feel your love for her, Jace. It was only a matter of time until it bled into me,” Alec said with a firm nod. Jace let him go and grabbed the book off of the floor, clearing his throat to try and will back the unexpected tears he felt building behind his eyes. 

“Okay, tell me more,” Jace asked. He watched as Alec explained the steps with wild waves of his hands and thanked the Angel for giving him a family like the Lightwoods.

Jalec, requested by @morgandeeyue: In which Alec drinks water from Lake Lyn causing him to hallucinate things about Jace.

“You’re a monster!” Alec growled as he brought the seraph dagger up to Jace’s throat. He was crouched over his parabatai dangerously. “You demon blooded monster.”

“Alec, you’re hallucinating,” Jace managed to say through his teeth as the blade dug into his skin. “It was the water from Lake Lyn. This isn’t you. Please.”

Alec’s eyes were blazing with fury and pain and hatred. It scared Jace right to the core, to have Alec looking at him this way. They’d both made their way to Lake Lyn upon Sebastian’s instructions, but Alec had ended up in the water for some reason and now he was hallucinating. 

“I’m not hallucinating!” Alec yelled, pressing the dagger harder. A thin line of blood appeared under the edge and Jace struggled to breathe. “You’re a demon. You deserve to die.”

“I’m your parabatai,” Jace whispered. “Your brother.”

“You’re nothing to me,” Alec hissed, and Jace swore something broke inside of him at his parabatai’s words. 

Truly thinking Alec was about to kill him, Jace brought a knee up into his back. Alec grunted in surprise and Jace was able to shove him off. Alec went sprawling and Jace tried quickly to rake in as much air as he could. He ignored the tingling of the cut on his throat and kept an eye on Alec. 

“Alec, please, it’s me. It’s Jace,” he said lowly. 

Alec made another lunge for Jace, but Jace managed to dodge him at the last second. Alec lunged again and this time, he wasn’t quick enough. The two went to ground with a gross thud. Alec punched Jace, once, twice, and then a third time. Jace felt his eyebrow split in the impact. 

“Alec,” he whispered desperately, lifting his head up as the blood dripped down his face. 

“Demon!” Alec growled, pulling out his dagger once again. “Abomination!”

Jace’s eyes fluttered in defeat and his head fell back to the ground, deflated. “Kill me then,” he croaked. “I don’t want to be alive if we’re on different sides, Alec.” 

Alec put the tip of the dagger to Jace’s heart. He pushed it in and blood appeared around the edges. Jace drew in a sharp breath. “I’m going to kill you,” Alec seethed.

And Jace didn’t care anymore. Jace had thought he once had demon blood, and he wasn’t surprised when he found out. Because he was broken. And he wasn’t capable of loving. He wasn’t capable of emotion. But then he discovered he had pure angel blood, and it didn’t make sense, because how could he have something so pure and be so damaged? 

“Do it then,” Jace said quietly. “You’d all be better off without me.”

If this is what made Alec snap out of his hallucination, then so be it, because Jace could deal with that. Could deal with dying if it meant Alec lived. Because the only way he’d be able to stop Alec was by killing him, and he could never do that. Alec was twice the man Jace could ever be, so he was okay with this. He just wanted Alec to be okay, no matter what. 

Alec dug the blade in deeper, testing Jace. 

“Do it,” Jace said, his voice rising. He lifted his head and looked directly at his parabatai. “DO IT!”

And then all of a sudden Jace’s eyes were glowing gold, and that pure angel blood coursing through him was set alight. And he felt his iratze rune burning and he felt the cut on his throat heal over. And he felt the power travel to his parabatai bond. And all of a sudden, Alec’s eyes were a bright gold, and the dagger slipped from his hands. And the wound that Alec had caused healed over too. 

Just as Jace’s eyes faded back to normal, Alec’s did too, and all of a sudden there was no pain there, no fury, and no hatred. His parabatai looked like himself again. 

“Alec?” Jace said, his voice coarse. 

“Jace?” Alec’s breathing was heavy. “Wh-What happened? I was going to kill you. I couldn’t stop myself. I... I wanted to kill you.” 

A tear slipped from Jace’s eye. Relief. Disappointment. Happiness. Fear. A whole range of emotions washed over him and he couldn’t make sense of any of it. “I know,” Jace breathed. “I know.”

“How did you... I felt some kind of energy through our bond. I think... I think it healed me,” Alec whispered, as if he thought he was being crazy. 

Jace nodded slightly. “I activated my iratze rune, and I think you got some of its power through our parabatai bond. You were hallucinating, and it healed you.”

Then all of a sudden Alec was grabbing at Jace, pulling him into a bone crushing hug. “I didn’t mean what I said. It’s hazy, but I remember. You’re not a demon. I need you, Jace. I would never,” Alec hiccuped, “I would never want you dead.” 

Jace hugged his parabatai back tightly. “I know, Alec.”

“I’m so sorry,” Alec said. 

“I’m just glad you’re okay,” Jace replied, meaning every word. “We’re okay.” 

And even though Jace had been so close to dying, he would’ve let Alec do it. But he would never tell Alec that, so he kept his mouth shut and hugged his parabatai, glad he was finally okay.

What He Needs

(500 word fic) Summary: Jace does his best to comfort Alec when he has a panic attack. Rating: T Pairing: Non-romantic Jalec Warnings: panic attacks, dissociation

It happens while Alec is brushing his teeth, of all things. Perhaps his mind is too busy during the day, thinking about what needs to be done that it’s not until nightfall, when he starts relaxing, that his thoughts begin to wander.

Whatever the cause may be, one moment Alec is thinking about patrol schedules and the next, he’s dizzy from all the thoughts of what could go wrong.

His heart races and his hands shake as he removes the toothbrush from his mouth, gives it a cursory rinse and sticks it into the holder.

When he rinses his mouth out, moving on autopilot because his mind is still spinning, still refusing to focus on the task at hand, the cool water grounds him for a moment.

The moment of reprieve gone as soon as he straightens his spine and catches a glimpse of himself in the mirror. The reflection feels so distant from himself, like he’s looking at a stranger.

He shakes his head, turning away from the glass, struggling to catch his breath. He just needs to make it to his bed. Everything is a little softer when a soft comforter separates him from the rest of the world.

Alec stumbles into his room, relieved that he’s already changed into what passes as sleeping clothes. He shuts the door and slides into bed. He’s barely made it under the comforter when the door slams open and the light flips on.

It goes against all his training, but his first instinct, the one he acts on, is to tug his comforter over his head, squeezing his eyes shut tight.

“Alec!” He knows that voice too well and it’s only at the realization that Jace is in his room, that Alec realizes he forgot to close off the parabatai bond. Everything had happened so fast. He’d spiraled so quickly and with his mind so cluttered, he’d entirely neglected to hide his emotions.

“Go away,” Alec grumbles from beneath the covers, shutting off the bond completely. He’s too ashamed to look at Jace. He might live the rest of his life hiding in shame beneath his comforter.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” Alec bites his lip hard because the pain distracts him from the inner turmoil.

“Alec—”

“I’m having a panic attack, okay?” He knows he’s admitting a weakness, and in the morning he’ll regret it. But right now, when he feels so far from himself, time has no meaning. It dulls the sharpness of future consequences when tomorrow feels nonexistent.

He expects Jace to leave, but a moment later the bed is shifting as the blond shadowhunter climbs onto it.

“What are you doing?” Alec asks, finally peeking out from under the blanket, as Jace settles down behind him, draping a strong arm over his torso. The warm weight has Alec a bit more settled in his skin.

“Let me help.”

Alec swallows his arguments, pressing his face into his pillow. He won’t admit it, but this is exactly what he needs.

“This is a ridiculous idea,” Alec says, eyeing the toy dispenser inside the tattoo shop. It’s filled with those clear plastic containers that would normally hold cheap rubber toys or those slime hands kids inevitably got stuck to the ceiling for days. But this one, located at his and Jace’s favorite tattoo shop, holds $50 tattoo specials. The catch? There’s no way to tell what design you’re going to get until you put your token in and turn the crank. Whatever comes out is the tattoo you get. 

“This is a great idea!” Jace insists. “I mean, come on. We know Clary’s art is always amazing, even if it’s whatever leftover designs she’s trying to get rid of. There’s no way this can go wrong.” 

Alec can think of a lot of ways this can go wrong. “But what if I hate it? I’m just going to let the random turn of a dial determine something that’s going to be on me permanently? For the rest of my life?” 

“Wait, tattoos are permanent?” Jace sais, feigning shock. 

“You know what I’m saying,” Alec rolls his eyes.  

“That is generally how tattoos function, Alec, yes. Considering how many we have so far I think we both understand the basic premise.” Jace rolls his eyes right back. “You were saying you wanted to be more spontaneous and have more fun - this is both of those! It’s fate.” 

“I don’t know… when I said that I was thinking more like taking one of those parkour gym classes or buying last minute concert tickets. I wasn’t thinking impulsive tattoo.” Alec stares warily at the dispenser. 

“What if I get it with you?” Jace offers. “Whatever you get, I’ll get too. We can be in this together.” 

Alec looks up at that offer, attention pulled from the designs stuffed into plastic balls and shifted to Jace. There’s no one Alec’s closer with, no one he trusts more with his life, than Jace. There isn’t a single doubt in his mind that they’re going to have each other’s backs and be by each other’s side for the rest of their lives. The idea of a matching tattoo with anyone else would be an immediate hard pass for him, but with Jace? 

“You mean it?” Alec asks. 

“Always,” Jace confirms. “You’re stuck with me and my reckless decisions for life, Alec. Might as well commemorate that with impromptu matching tattoos!” 

Alec shakes his head with a fond smile on his face, because Jace is right. They aren’t going to part, not willingly, and Alec is always right there for the fallout of whatever it is Jace gets himself wrapped up in at any given moment. This is, quite possibly, the most accurate representation of their relationship since the day they met.  

“Fuck it, let’s do this,” Alec agrees. 

He stands back and watches as Jace pays the $100 at the register to get a token, fidgeting anxiously as Jace puts the coin in and turns the handle. A plastic container with an orange base falls out of the bottom and Jace opens it eagerly to reveal a symbol that, Alec has to admit, actually looks kind of cool. 

Down the center is a thick line, with a thinner line trailing off towards the left at the top, and towards the right at the bottom. In the middle lines like calligraphy brush strokes curve out, one on each side near the top and bottom, with one extra, thicker stroke near the bottom. If he didn’t know that Clary does only original pieces he’d think it might be a Chinese character of some kind. 

“See?!” Jace says triumphantly. “This is amazing.” 

“We don’t even know what it is,” Alec points out. 

“Clary! What is this?” Jace shouts from across the room, holding up the paper. 

Clary comes over and gives it a look. “Honestly? No clue. It sort of came to me one night - I woke up with it in my head and drew it quick before I could forget it.” She looks it over again. “It’s actually really weird you got this one - whenever I drew it I’d always draw it as a matching pair. It just, I dunno, felt like it was meant to be a set.” 

“Meant to be a set, Alec!” Jace repeats, looking back at Alec with enthusiasm. “It’s fate!” 

Alec isn’t sure he believes in all of that fate and destiny nonsense but he does believe in the permanence him and Jace - and right now that’s all he needs.

Favorite romantic ship(s): Jalec! They are chosen soulmates, I still feel nothing beats that. Plus they complement each other so perfectly, their chemistry was off the charts in the show, way better than all canon ships together, and did I mention they chose to share their souls? Of course they share their hearts too! I do like Jace with Magnus, or together with Magnus and Alec (though I always have to admit the Malec part in the Malace always feels a bit stretched and not as natural as Jalec or Jagnus)

Favorite platonic dynamic(s): Izzy! I love the two of them together as almost siblings and best friends. In a lot of ways they are a lot alike, and I think that makes a great friendship dynamic

LGBT+ headcanon(s): Jace is bi, and his first love (and last) is Alec, though he has sex before he gets together with Alec. Jace's perception of love is so messed up due to his upbringing it takes him a while to realize that what he feels for Alec is something different than friendship or being Parabatai

Job headcanon (in an AU/or future): In canon I see him as someone who dedicates his life to train young Shadowhunters, in the training room and field - though I also like the book!job he gets where he is the head oft the NY institute, but I like him better as a trainer. In a human AU a professional musician would be nice, or also in the training area - martial arts, karate etc, maybe with bartender as a side job

Animal shifter headcanon: Lizard - not because of the canon events but because of the perfect Jalec lizard pic I found a while ago

Favorite canon thing about them: Jace was raised with so little love, and yet he grew up to be so full of it and ready to give, he's literally ready to sacrifice himself for his loved ones. I love how he hides his vulnerability behind his snark and lets only his chosen person see who he truly is.

Least favorite canon thing about them: I didn't like how he threw all his training and common sense away to run after Clary - it didn't make sense for him as a person, but also not for him as a well trained Shadowhunter - he should have known better than to endanger her and himself and all the others by letting her lead without any training at all.

Hey zal hope you’re feeling good! I was wondering if theres ever been a couple on a show/movie that were meant to have a dynamic of “they have a history and this tie to each other and know each other well and look good together but at the same time not meant to end up together” where you actually thought they should end up together? Like there’s no reason why they shouldn’t work? Like a couple that were meant to be in each others lives to teach each other things and they affected each other in certain profound ways but they’re not meant to end up together. It kind of reminds me of stelena and how they were meant to have that fated connection but the show didn’t want them together at the end. I was wondering if there were others like that. And do you have any where you understood why they shouldn’t be together? Like you thought the show did a good job of showing why they’re not meant to be. Sorry if you’ve answered this before. I just usually really enjoy watching couples like that where there’s this mystical tie holding them together but also the angst of not being able to be that person for each other, even if they want to be. Thank you!!

Um, this isn't quite the same because they were never a ship and this really pissed people off at the time but as an extremely casual, drunk review viewer of Shadowhunters, I'd put down Show!Jalec (there are more posts in the masterlist about this)

Like it’s emotional and intimate and they exude so much when they’re playing across from each other

Like Jace actually looks like he’s being torn apart, it’s one of the only times he’s convincing (the other times, he’s also with Alec) and Alec looks like killing Jace is literally the most absurd thing in the world and his expression is as fierce as I’ve ever seen it on the show and it doesn’t look platonic and it doesn’t look brotherly, this basically looks like a Stelena scene

Like seriously, guys, look at this

Jace is never this convincing with Clary and Alec is certainly never this convincing with Magnus.

And sure, the dialogue about their bond is supposed to be about their platonic love but with scenes like that, with chemistry like that, their narrative and their dialogue just feeds into the romance of their energy

and then you have THIS scene

I’m sorry if I had all of this, as a creator, things would just have to change because how am I supposed to take Malec seriously

In terms of ships I understood, kind of Jax and Tara? Like they end up together but they don't because she's murdered.

Jax and Tara are another couple like this where they represent happiness for each other and hope for each other in a cruel, hard, violent environment

but they could never have their happy ending because if they had their happy ending the show would be done, Jax would be done, the club would fall apart, the fibre of the world Kurt Sutter created would diminish,

Jax can’t leave Charming, he can’t leave Sons of Anarchy, he can’t leave his mother

so the only way for Jax to not leave is for tragedy to ensue.

I'm still trying to decide if my fury around Alisha and Simon is legitimate anger about the writing or if it's because the writing destroyed me when I thought of the implications of them being in this constant loop of trying to save each other and failing over and over.
