Organization (102?)
~~YES! MORE!~~
Yesterday I was talking to a classmate online, and she commented how I always seem to know what's due on what date and even what day of the week it falls on. It’s a simple fix, really.
Tumblr media
I am a visual person. I get most of my knowledge from reading and viewing materials, not so much from listening, and I am deadly afraid of last-minute deadlines.
So I made my own semester calendar. On an A4 piece of dotted-grid paper (Fabriano, I got it from Blick here) I made a grid to encompass the 16 weeks of the semester, and I split each row into 5 columns (Monday to Friday) because I need to admit that I take weekends off school stuff - I’m married and a housewife until I get a job: chores that need doing, any prepping of meals, and spending time with my partner, are all important parts of a healthy environment and I don’t want to give those up for as long as I can.
I labeled each week (week 1, week 2...) and then I used the upper right-hand corner of each cell for the day of the month. I made a colorful separation between months.
This lets me know straight away:
what day of the week it is,
which semester week it falls on,
what deadlines are due that day or around that day, and
I can visualize any time off I can squeeze in.
I printed out (or opened the pdf) the syllabus for each subject and found the deadlines/exams/homework due dates.
I then grabbed 4 pens in different colors and assigned a color to each of my subjects: Anatomy is purple, Physiology is navy blue, Public Health is green, Pharmacology is pink.
With the 4 syllabi in front of me, I made a quick note on the due date of each assignment, and this is how you see that on Tuesday next week (Jan 22nd) I have to have finished my BMS 136 (physiology, navy blue) F1 task (Forum, post 1). On the same day, I have my BMS 235 (Pharmacology, pink), Q1 (first quiz).
When I finish one task I go through it with a highlighter, which is a superb accountability prize - the more highlights, the more work I’ve done! And as you can see, I’ve already finished all my deadlines for January already. I also cross the days as they go by.
This paper lives on my desk. I look at it every day before I sit down to start my day, and I base my weekly bullet journal planning (which I do on Sundays!) around the due-dates on it.
This coming Sunday I would’ve put the 22nd and its deadlines on it, but now I don’t have to, I can concentrate my efforts on things I’m finding harder (Anatomy) or subjects where the teacher is so lackluster I am making my own notes because his teachings make no sense yay tenure please go retire sir that need more work than others (Physiology).
I also take a snapshot on my phone of the current situation on Sundays, so my phone and iPad have an up-to-date view - since I can’t take that paper everywhere but I may be making appointments or plans while I’m away from my desk.
It may seem too analog for some, but to me it’s just right. How do you plan your time?

If there is one trend that we are loving these days it’s incorporating agates and geodes into your wedding decor. Geodes are rocks with sparkling crystals on the inside while agate slices have lovely unique patterns in both vibrant and soft colors. With their rich tone and texture, they can be used for just about any type of affair, from an elegant ballroom to a rustic barn wedding. We’ve found some gorgeous ideas using these gems for everything from table numbers to placecards and even cake toppers! I’m so happy the weekend is right around the corner. 😍 The past couple weeks involved a huge amount of work with the #bullettastisch launch and my new blogging schedule (two posts a week). Which I’m still trying to get used too 🤣 The fact that I also need to do my taxes as well as get everything ready for the Journaltastisch Planner 2019 launch doesn’t help^^ I hope after a long weekend of rest I will finally be energized on Monday and get my new Printables drawn. While the JT planner already includes over 250 Printables I want to add a few more essentials as well as make sure you can start each week both on Sunday or Monday (depending on your preference). Ok enough work talk. What are your plans for the weekend? I will go for a nice long brunch with my husband tomorrow and otherwise pretty much spend my weekend watching #bonestvshow. I’m in the second season now and very happy I can watch it all now instead of the sporadic episodes before amazon prime and Netflix existed 😋 . . . . . #wundertastisch #quotestoliveby #dowhatyoulove #motivationalquotes #journaltastisch #planner2019 #printableplanner #filofax #filofaxa5 #notebook #journal #journaling #planninginspo #bulletjournalquote #doodlequote #bujo #bujoinspiration #bujoideas #quotesaboutlife #bannerdesign #inspirations #filofaxbujo #turquoisebujo https://ift.tt/2OSrV7p
