Smaugust 2024 01 - Dragonlord Placidusax
Clip Studio Paint Pro Hello and welcome to my first post for Smaugust 2024! This will be the first time I am participating in a themed drawing month. Rather than follow a prompt list, I decided I wanted to draw dragons from From Software's recent catalog of games as I have always adored their dragon designs. I won't be uploading daily as I plan to do these as the urge hits, but my goal will always be to finish each illustration in one day. First up is Dragonlord Placidusax, a big contender for my favorite dragon fight in SoulsBorne. I had to capture the iconic nuke, though I sketched my own pose for him instead of strictly following the attack, mostly to maintain a solid composition. Placi took me 4.5 hours to illustrate here and taught me that discerning detail in From Software's intricate models is not for the faint of heart. Definitely took some of my own liberties with this.

I am of the opinion that Placidusax’s lightning nuke attack doesn’t do nearly enough damage.
I think it should be able to one shot you no matter how much HP you have or how much you stack resistances.
It’s got a long ass telegraph and looks cool as fuck, if any move in Elden Ring deserves to one shot you it’s this one.
