It has come to my attention that none of the forbidden kids should be forbidden. The Great Prophecy speaks of a half-blood (demigod) of the eldest gods.
None of the Big Three are the eldest gods. Yes, they are the oldest Olympians but oldest Olympians does not equal oldest gods.
Assuming having demigod children is a requirement for this prophecy, we already have one option for a godly parent who should’ve been forbidden to have mortal offspring, Hecate.
Hecate is the goddess of witchcraft, and the Mist in the Riordanverse. We know she has mortal children thanks to her cabin and the short story, Son of Magic. Not only that but we were introduced to her cabin’s head councillor, Lou Ellen who we meet in Lost Hero, I assume.
I’m inclined to say at least two of the Big Three still count unless there are two other gods older than the Big Three that have half-bloods I do not know about in the Riordanverse.
If you know any, please leave them in the comments. We will build this AU together.

I think Nico's ability to survive is less so about his will to live and more so about his refusal (less so personal and more so narrative-wise) to die. Nico, for the lack of a better word, is like a cockroach: you cannot kill him in a way that matters so he survives and keeps haunting the scene.
There was once a marvelous post on Nico's function as a narrative tool and it was so beautifully pointed out that he's a near-omniscient deus ex machina (to simplify) which cannot be overlooked when characterizing him. Nico carries so much narrative weight on his back (which arguably could be an example of either good or bad writing depending on your perspective) that he cannot just go and die.
His road towards healing (though definitely not walked alone/individually) is his own, that's his choice to make as a character, but his disposition as a guy that perseveres resides more within his function, in my opinion.
He's not the tragic prince doomed for self-destruction people often draw him out to be but his capacity for survival is also not a product of his continuous work as a character, at least not just that — but is rather a result of his narrative function. Simply saying, you cannot, narratively, kill off Nico di Angelo.

Is it explained why Jason couldn't understand Greek ? I mean Chiron said that demigods can magically understand a little Latin and Greek, and Percy was able to understand Latin pretty well even before he came to Camp Jupiter. (During the lightning thief, he cursed the furies out in Latin and claimed he didn't know where the Latin came from)
And Percy didn't even have to learn Latin much after he came to camp Jupiter aswell because he started translating stuff roughly on the very first day of his arrival there.
He was able to translate what Hazel was cursing abt in Latin, even specifying details, about her calling Octavian a "son of a gorgon" and stuff about where Octavian could stick his knife (LOL) but in contrast, Jason only noted that "Annabeth cursed in Greek" but didn't seem to understand what she was cursing about. It's just a lil thing I noted in the books.

I just finished tsats and I love this Book so so much. The messages, the pacing, the characters, the dynamics are just so good and well made.
It's a Book of healing. For those who can't see the light and are stuck in the Darkness they find within themselves. There's an alternative, a choice you Can make. Being safe and creating around you help you in Times of need m. But do not choose loneliness, sadness, isolation and misery just because they are familiar. You are just hurting yourself and others.
Your Darkness are not to be vanquished or conquered. WE just have to learn to live with them, so our loved ones Can accept and love them too.
I'm so happy Nico is having his happy ending. Like Hades said, he deserves everything.
A special shoutout to Will Solace, my coup de cœur in this Book. I've learned to know him more and he's so human, kind and loving, a litteral Ray of sunshine.

Okay but like, am I the only one who just realized that Percy's fatal flaw makes no sense ?
The story told us it's loyalty- and that he may put people he values/loves above more important things in difficult situations. But like- he has already been in two situations like that. I'm still between books right now (finished The Titan's Curse, starting tomorrow with the 4th book) and so far there were two situations that came up where Percy had to choose. One in TLT where Percy had to decide between himself, Annabeth, Grover and his mother to be left behind in the underword. And one in TTC book where he had that one question and he thought about asking Annabeth. Thing was, in both situation he choose the "right" thing and overcame his flaw. In TLt he chose to leave his mother behind since he needed Annabeth and Grover for the quest to save the world more. And in TTC he choose to asked about the monster, not Annabeth. His fatal flaw would see Percy struggle a lot more with these decisions, or even choosing his mother or Annabeth over the world.
But Percy didn't.
He overcame his fatal flaw before it was even a thing.
(Please mark any spoilers in your replies/reblogs so I can avoid them, thank you ^^ )

Finished the first two episodes of Percy Jackson and oh my gods SO MANY THOUGHTS that I simply must share it all. First thoughts foremost is that the cast did wonderfully! CHB and the chosen trio make the world of PJO come alive and it's just chef's kiss. I can't wait for the next episodes to see what they will bring. WARNING: Spoilers under cut.
They changed up some stuff from the get-go, but the initial monologue survived!! Percy is not Percy without "Look, I didn't want to be a Half-Blood."
MAMA JACKSON IS A SLAYYY. "How do you know those who are heroes are heroes and those who are monsters are monsters." YES TY THIS IS WHAT MY FEMINISM NEEDED!!!
The Fruit of the Loom underpants on Mr. Minotaur from the mythomagic cards is an absolute serve.
Grover!!! Mr. Brunner!!! Mrs. Dodds!!! Nancy Bobofit!!!!
Uncle Rick I see you right there hehe.
SMELLY GABE OMG. Love how he's still just a pathetic loser. I can see why they scaled back on the abuse from the books.
Olivia Rodrigo??? Sally Jackson is THAT girl fr. Disgustingly real of her. I can see why Posideon was down real bad. My Spartan Princess Queen Warrior Mother shined when she schooled Gabe (basic white trash).
MONTAUK UGH PAIN. Early visions of Charon were also a great addition. The pacing of the show is really standing out but I really appreciate how they hit the important points.
SALLY DISTRACTING THE MINOTAUR WITH THE JACKET OH WOW SO BADASS!!! She is just as brave as her son and I loved the shift in narrative between the two.
ANNABETH WHOOP THAT IS EXACTLY HOW I ENVISIONED HER SAYING THAT LINE
oh...wow... it's camp....it's THE camp...my childhood...my cabins....the amphitheater...my home...
Mr. D is so different haha and tbh all I see is Pimiento from B99
Love the intense lore drop there Luke, it definitely leaves enough room for plot, exposition, and character arc.
Whoever the guy next to Luke is, he is my spirit animal
CLARISSE IS SOOO COOL I'M ON HER SIDE FOR WHATEVER SHE WANTS TO DO
PERCY LOVES HIS MAMA SO MUCH I LOVE THEIR BOND AAAAHHH. I also love the early hints of disliking the gods and percy's sense of duty
Forgot to mention Grover and his dryad mama?? caretaker?? whatever the case he is so cutie and baby. AND SUCH A GOOD FRIEND/PROTECTOR
Annabeth is Annabething for SURE
CAPTURE THE FLAG
PERCY DICKING AROUND PLSS IT"S SO HIM
these kids are so good at doing their own stunts love a good sword fight
"I'm sorry" *pushes you in the water* (loved the satisfied look on Annabeth's face bc she sure as hell knew what she was doing, and her hunch was right!!!)
"I'm the son of Sally Jackson" YES YOU ARE BABY BOYY. Amazing callback to the story of Perseus and Danae, once again calling back to the bond between mother and son rather than the hero himself.
Percy's character is cemented early, this boy is motivated only by his family and friends, not the gods themselves, absolutely made the magic WORK.
Next episode prophecy???
Overall, this is the adaptation we've all been waiting for. I've never experienced happiness more. Season 2 release when?? HOO adaptation when??? Pls give the whole 9 yards and more

meet my oc
main relations: sebastian by @pjo-hoo-toa-freakazoid , nico di angelo, jason grace, and perseus jackson. her relationships later broaden to add leo valdez, soyee by 💌 anon, & lisel by @theevanparker.
Tumblr media
arriana lacap: age twelve, mixed race, 5'6", born nov 27, daughter of cupid & legacy of mars.
fav god: juno/hera.
least fav god: tyche.
backstory: she arrives at camp jupiter at the age of eleven, where she is placed in the care of the fifth legion and later the ambassador of pluto. nico is never truly around so she takes it upon herself to go 'adventuring'. this is where she meets her halfbrother, seb. after on of his attacks he is at the top of jupiter's temple and she believes him a blessing from the god to protect her. while she is aware he is only begrudgingly fond of her, she wholeheartedly adores him.
the same cannot be said for her other greek siblings. while cupid kids are naturally loving she is also a legacy of mars (discovered early on as she is granted his blessing whenever in combat). this makes her see any on similar to her as competition. so siblings (that aren't seb)? competition. female aphrodite/venus children? competition. all competition must be crushed and sent to the underworld by her own hand in the most excruciating way possible.
when jason grace disappears, she does as well. they all assume that her adventuring had finally gotten her killed and think nothing of it until she returns on the argo. she accompanies the lost trio as tasked by juno and speaks to percy in dreams while all this happens. the seven, due to the attack on camp jupiter, leave her with the romans. during that time period she figures out that sebastian is the camp killer and so she does the obvious: helps him cover any and all tracks without letting him know she's discovered his secret. she's a good sibling like that.
the power she obtains from cupid is called unrequited love, meaning she can curse any and all loves. platonic, romantic, sexual? you name it and she can take it and absolutely demolish it.
personality: she has a bubbly personality and constantly wishes to please her inspirations/family figures. she is cupid/eros's favourite child because she will do anything he wants as long as it does not interfere or hurt the people she holds dear. strangely enough she is scared of harmless harpies and fawns but adores sirens and any such monsters.
present arc??: she reunites with the lost trio at camp j v camp h. and the rest of he story goes from there!!
any and all plotholes/misconceptions that might be there are supposed to fill in with @pjo-hoo-toa-freakazoid 's lore and au!!

yk i feel like Rhea crashing universes(like one would a party, not crashing as in a computer crashes) and fucking up timelines would totally be something she would do and Chaos would totally endorse the whole thing while cackling in the background at how much unintentional bullshit she puts everyone(and herself) through.
like,(because you already have a hp book) her just fucking with voldemort??? a killing curse can’t work on a god(immortal and all) and you’ve already established magic doesn’t work on gods either,
not even mentioning the fact that her uncle(aidoneus i mean. we don’t like PJO hades in this book ):< ) is the god of the underworld, and i have no doubt she would hang out with any thanatos varient she could get her hands on, if just to appreciate they’re beauty.
(the death god mentions are because voldemort is literally terrified of death, horxruces{??} and his name[flight from death] make that very obvious)
SHE FUCKING WOULD !
I mean Harry Potter is so filled with plotholes that destroying it timeline by doing something early won't have any bad effect really, unlike with PJO where if you change something it can destroy everything.
She will piss off Voldemort so bad for the funsies just because she can ! Then will let him use the killing curse only to say 'whoops you need to do better' 💀

Hi.
So....its been almost a year. How fate can change has been on hiatus for almost a year. I feel kind of guilty, but there is a huge reason for that. I am currently applying for oxford and other unis, so that is where I was focusing most of my time one. (I did not apply yet tho, will soon). Also I've been trying to start my career in acting, keyword "trying". It like that situation where people only hire people with experience, but then I cant get any experience etc. But I finally after two years found some guidance from my old theatre teacher, so maybe I will get signed or booked idk i hope so. (Its been a fantasy of mine to have a part in pjo series. I would love to play Thalia the most, as she is everything I specialize acting with: portrayal of rage, anger, unrequitedness etc., but tbh I am like Rachel in real life. Except for the billionaire parents. Tough we'll see how that fantasy goes, probably it wont, but never shot, always miss, right?)
Anyway back on track, I havent had any chapters posted yet. I have a LOT of preweritten shit, but let me tell you, most of it, is scrapped due to plotholes issues, so just kinda have a bunch of unused text and a few plot strings in a noodle soup. I hope to get things going by march, but we shall see.
Temporary publish date of first chapter in a year : 22 march. Nauryz. :))

i will never get over the fact that Luke Castellan explicitly ordered the Edgiest Pegasus Steed for his like 18-year-old-supervillian-arc. An ultra rare all-black pegasus? of course, sir, only the most emo for you. Would you like some Styxian armor with that? to match your extra deadly sycthe? hold on sir the next book called we just got in a new deuteragonist with an even MORE cliche dark aesthetic than you-

I'm not saying you can't ask why, I'm just saying it doesn't matter. And while you make your works preserving the source material, other people can like something and still change some aspects of it. I'm just trying to say this. Okay if in your mind if you love the source material you preserve it, but it happens quite a lot that people like something and still change it. I love TMNT, but in my personal fan iterations I change a bunch of stuff. You can think that, but the opposite happens quite often.
I'm not saying it should be free of criticism, I'm saying that if you want to criticize something, instead of hammering down the same thing over and over, you should criticize it as a separate entity. I don't dislike Rings of Power because it changes everything my tolkien ass loves about his works, I dislike it because it sucks as a piece of media - the writing is inconsistent, the characters are shallow, there are plotholes everywhere. On the other hand, fans of PJO like the show because it's a well done piece of media on its own, even though it changes a lot of aspects from the books.
Epic has problems in pacing and stabilishing time, sometimes it's hard knowing what's going on due to the lyrics having double meaning or being interpreted in different ways, and it can be repetitive in some parts. This is criticism of it that I have for now, without comparing it to the source material. All I've seen in criticism for the musical has been comparison.
And I wasn’t saying the Odyssey is a fanfiction, I'm saying Epic is. And fanfiction is work of love - by the way, MANY aspects of the Arthurian legends derive from fanfiction from the time - Lancelot was added like, 50+ years after the first stories by a french guy. But again, I never said Greek mythology is fanfiction, please don't distort what I say like that.
I agree that it's part of creation, but don't you think that works can be good despite their fidelity to their source materials? Don't you think part of creation is adding your own thoughts? That part of consuming media is recognizing that not everyone does it like you?
New Epic saga and it's horrible... to give you an idea, Odysseus fought Poseidon, stole his trident and made him beg for mercy
hmmm a god begging a mortal for mercy is not exactly on par with Greek religion and stories. How did that scene made it into the final version?

so my take on the new pjo series is that it reads like a reasonably well written oneshot/missing scene fic. straight to the point, occasional plotholes or forgetting of canon, generally low stakes, a “no beta we die like leo valdez” tag, and an a/n that warns you of all of the above.
the problem though is that instead of a a random person writing it purely for fun and no expectations, it’s the actual creator doing so as a cashgrab that we’re basically forced into accepting as canon. the plotholes and mistakes and lack of willingness to follow through on literally anything may (and should) be negligible when a fan does it, but that doesn’t make it in any way acceptable for a professional. what the hell

This is so random, but does Frank really belong in the Prophecy of Seven? And no this isn’t about how doesn’t have adhd or dyslexia this is about how he isn’t a HALF-blood. He’s a demigod, yes, but not a full on half blood because he’s more god than human. His a descendant of Poseidon as well as the son of Mars and the prophecy says that seven half-bloods will answer the call, not six half-bloods and a slightly-more-than-half-blood. I know this is random but I just thought you should know.
