One thing I like about Nancy Bobofit is that her bullying Percy is taken seriously. Because in pretty much all of the stuff I've watched whenever a girl is bullying a boy, they either pull the stupid bullshit excuse that "she's only bullying him bc she likes him" or they treat the whole situation as a joke.
In fact, in the og script for the awful fucking movie they changed Nancy into a boy (in the final version they cut her out entirely and btw I recommend watching Ashlee Tayla's yt vid in which she reads the og script) which I'm guessing is because they just thought that general audiences wouldn't be able to take a girl bullying a boy seriously.

Rick Riordan constantly trashing the movies for not sticking to his books then releasing a show in which he rewrites everything and loses the spirit of the books entirely

Percy Jackson and The Olympians (2023) 1.07
Tumblr media
The Garden of Earthly Delights (1490-1500)
In the seventh episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, we see The Garden of Earthly Delights; a piece by Hieronymus Bosch with themes such as the fate of humanity and sin.
The panels depict the Garden of Eden, the Human World, and Hell (from left to right). We can see Sally Jackson reaching for the centre — the Human World — and her son, who is standing in front of Hell.

GIF editors in the pjo fandom are the real MVPs cause without them I would have no clue what tf is going on in any scene that isn't outside in broad daylight

it's just that carl and ellie from up are so percabeth-coded. a boy who's very quiet about his ambitions. wanting to live a simple but purposeful life. and then he meets a girl who's extremely overt about wanting to live a big life. and the boy's new life goal is helping the girl achieve her dreams if it's the last thing he does.

Okay so now that we have more satyr lore in the show, I’m gonna need an in-universe documentary about all of the magical creatures and monsters narrated by minor god of nature himself David Attenborough and filmed by a crew of brave satyrs but it always goes horribly wrong. every time they try to document a monster in its natural habitat, the monster’s just reading a book or like eating a churro or something until either it tries to eat the crew or a demigod child appears and then they turn into a living nightmare and David is like “oh dear” in his posh British accent and they cut to some b-roll footage of centaurs galloping or something. And then when they try to get some cute footage of magical creatures, either the satyrs almost die or there’s a tragic death of the creatures like hippocampus babies traveling in a pod with their family, but then one of them gets eaten by a sea serpent and you see a satyr wailing in the corner as we hear David say something like “oh what a shame but that’s the circle of life” and they just keep on going. the satyrs keep trying to give the animals satyr’s blessings but that’s not allowed cuz they can’t interfere like normal documentarians can’t so it’s just them trying and failing to protect the animals while the omniscient god David Attenborough keeps narrating without pause. But it’s also their duty as satyrs to preserve nature so they still need to make the best show possible
It’s a Need. I will write the script myself, okay? Don’t tempt me. Rick Riordan hire me PLEASE

actually to bring up how watered down and sanitized the first 3 episodes of percy jackson has been, it raises concerns for later books. the stakes are supposed to be high from book 1 and the bar continues to be raised. it’s an action packed series with monsters and gods and deadly quests. there’s the possibility of being killed. which raises the question, when titan’s curse rolls around, how will they handle not one but two character deaths? this is the book that’s the turning point in the series, where everyone senses this tonal shift and that they’re favorite characters could actually die. that kronos is serious and this impending war will be real, with real casualties, injuries, and intense battle scenes. how do you sanitize a literal war?

Gods, can I gush about the CGI in the Percy Jackson show for just a minute??
All of it is so fucking good!
The work was gone by ILM or Industrial Light and Magic, who are an incredible effects house and also one of the oldest effects houses there is. ILM was founded in the 1970s by George fucking Lucas to make the effects for the original Star Wars trilogy. They are the reason the original Jurassic Park had CGI in the first place! They worked with Jim Henson on The Dark Crystal and Tobe Hooper on Poltergeist, which has sone crazy awesome effects if you've never seen it. A part of ILM broke off in the 1990s and became fucking PIXAR!!
And Percy Jackson has had just the best looking effects I've seen in a long time. The creature work alone is worth so many awards. The minotaur was amazing.
Tumblr media
And the illusion of Chiron is never broken, it's just seamless and perfect.
Tumblr media
And don't get me started on Medusa's snakes. They're PERFECT. THEY ACT LIKE REAL SNAKES!!!
Tumblr media
And the chimera was beautiful. I loved the decision to give it a cobra's frill.
Tumblr media
Also, water is a notoriously difficult effect to do and all the water looks amazing in this show. I bet they pulled some people from the Avatar sequel to help with it.
Tumblr media
And Grover's legs never look bad. They're always perfect. I love the decision to keep them exposed the whole time, it adds to the magical feeling of the world while also showcasing how powerful the Mist really is.
Tumblr media
And one of my favorite effects HAS to be the way Mrs. Dodds' coat turned into her wings. I saw that and had an out of body experience.
Tumblr media
But this most recent episode just blew me away. Specifically with this (these next gifs are by @stevenrogered) :

So, if you didn't know, tracking an effect onto someone's body is incredibly difficult. It's so difficult that CGI artists will often replace someone's body with a 3D model in order to make it easier. That could be what happens here in part, but they can't fake Walker's face.
Props to Walker for sitting as still as humanly possible during this incredibly emotional scene. Him sitting still helps make the tracking of the effect easier since the artists don't have to adjust the effect every frame to account for the slightest movements. Which brings me to the face.
Tumblr media
It is so hard to animate human faces and not fall into the uncanny valley, and yes this effect applies to that. Look at the way the gold conforms to the shape of his mouth as he speaks. Look at how it follows the movement of his chin, his cheeks. It's PERFECT. This is an incredibly impressive effect and I wanna just worship whichever overworked and underpaid VFX artist spent hours of their life working on it.
Okay, that's all, rants over, everyone go home!

I think Annabeths fear of spiders is underappreciated.
Like she's this stony, hard-working, "dont test me," her own boyfriend is scared of her when she's tired kind of girl.
... and then she sees a tiny little jumping spider 5 metres away from her and she's like;
Annabeth: AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! PERCY PERCY PERCYYYY HELPPPPP!
Percy, walking in sighing: yes I'll get the spider-
Annabeth: GET IT NOWWW IT WAS GOING TO EAT ME!! *sobbing* look at its EVIL eyes.
Percy: *stares into camera like in the Office*
