I generally don't mind fandom influence, but when someone comments "I don't remember this in Percy Jackson" under a video about the actual myths and not the fictionalised versions...well, it churn my gears

maybe the "did you love me?" could be seen as platonic or romantic, but i'm not here to argue about that honestly, even if it was meant in a platonic way, luke was still an awful person. he manipulated kids in bad positions to join the titan army, knowing full well so many of them would die and knowing full well camp half-blood was full of children. in fact, he knew most of the campers personally children who trusted him were exploited and luke castellan is literally one of the most evil people in pjo deadass and it surprises me when i see people trying to defend him list of all the things he's done, excluding what he's done when possessed by kronos:
stole Zeus's lightning bolt to start a war with the gods, knowing full well that would have led to many deaths
framed 12-year-old percy for stealing Zeus's lightning bolt
gave 12-year-old percy cursed shoes meant to drop him into tartarus. he would NOT have survived that. that was done with every intent to kill percy.
summoned a hellhound to kill percy
left percy alone with a deadly scorpion
poisoned thalia's tree to put the campers (CHILDREN) in serious danger
tried to kill 13-year-old percy in a duel
deceived Annabeth into holding up the sky in place of atlas. she was 14. holding the sky is extremely painful. he literally took advantage of the fact she still had affection for him.
used Annabeth to make artemis hold up the sky
extorted silena into being his spy, threatening to hurt her boyfriend if she disobeyed; also took advantage of her crush on him (she was 14 or 15, luke was 23) anyways. fuck luke castellan and he is NOT innocent and never will be and he hurts children❤️ yes i agree that the gods are pretty messed up but he was more than willing to harm the people the gods were harming. he claimed to only want the best for them, but he was likely the number 1 reason that so many of the kids were dead and/or traumatized. he can't claim to only want the gods to be better when he's going to take it out on kids who've done nothing wrong.

PJO Steddie Five
One | Two | Three | Four
Here it is! We learn El's parent in this one, and there's a wonderfully healthy dose of Steddie throughout the whole part.
There's a meme on this one, too lol
If you see any typos, no you didn't ^_^
-----
It should not have taken five days to drive from Athens, Tennessee, to Camp Half-Blood in Long Island. Eddie wouldn't be surprised if Chrissy and his bandmates thought he'd died some horrible death while on this retrieval. But Eddie would love to meet the person who can tell Steve and a gaggle of demigod children to hurry up and get to camp already. They spent two days at Hearth and Home just for the pool, and various stops along the way followed that same pattern.
It was, in all honesty, the most relaxed retrieval mission Eddie has ever fucking experienced. Only one monster ever gave them trouble (another harpy--go figure--that Steve dispatched with ease and no injury) while the rest would sniff around and eventually have their eyes glaze over like they'd lost interest or encountered something familiar. They'd then move on, leaving the group to continue their meal in relative peace.
But for as relaxed as Eddie and the kids are, Steve is ramped to the absolute limit. His shoulders remain tense, his leg bounces whenever he sits still too long, his eyes constantly survey their surroundings, and he seems to have placed a distance between himself and Eddie. It hurts to see, especially considering the literal spark between them, but Eddie tells himself it's just until they get to camp and Steve sees for himself that they're safe.
And that moment is getting closer as they hike up Half-Blood Hill, Steve's car left at the foot until Eddie can convince Chiron and Mr. D to let him park it in the camp itself. "That big tree there is where the protective barrier starts," Eddie explains, pointing at Thalia's tree. "It used to be a girl, but there was a whole thing with the Golden Fleece, and long story short, she's running around with Artemis now."
"Can I run around with Artemis?" Max asks, her voice eager as she falls back to keep pace with Steve and Eddie.
Steve snorts, and Eddie notices the way his hand tightens on his bat. His knuckles turn white and the muscles in his forearm straining slightly and Eddie has to look away before his mouth gets too dry. "Maybe when you're older," Steve says, "After you can beat me in a spar."
Max groans, stomping her way back to Lucas with hunched shoulders and a quiet mutter that she won't be winning anytime soon.
They reach the top of the hill then, and Eddie watches as the group slows down. El in particular falls back until she's next to Steve and can grip his hand tightly. Her beanie seems to be squirming, but the movement is so subtle that Eddie thinks he's probably seeing the air ripples from the heat. He hurries to the front of the group and grins at them. "Okay! You ready to enter Camp Half-Blood, AKA the best place ever?" he asks.
"Just get on with it already," Mike says, crossing his arms as Erica nods in agreement.
Eddie, in an incredibly mature move, sticks out his tongue, and he's rewarded with a quiet laugh from Steve. "As I was saying, once you pass by the tree, I'll introduce you to Chiron, the activities director here. After that, we'll get cabin arrangements, measure you for armor and swords, and give a full tour. Of course, I'll be the one showing you around, which means you'll be getting the best possible version of the tour."
He waits for applause, but it never comes, and Eddie pouts at them. "Can't you be more excited? This is, like, the first time I've managed to bring back kids who aren't terrified."
"Oh boy," Dustin says, his voice high and fake, "I can't wait for Eddie to show us around Camp Half-Blood."
"Joke all you like, Henderson, I'm taking it as a compliment," Eddie says, darting forward and pushing down the bill of Dustin's cap. He moves back easily and claps his hands. "Okay! Step on through, please."
The kids all glance back at Steve, and he smiles encouragingly. As a group, they move past the perimeter of the tree until only Steve and El are left standing on the edge. Eddie flashes a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, it's gonna be great. El and the kids can meet more demigods their age, and you, Stevie, can relax since you won't have any monsters coming after you."
Steve nods and looks at El. "You ready?" he asks. She holds his hand even tighter--and Eddie is starting to worry about Steve's bones here--but nods.
Together, they step over the threshold.
Or, well, Steve does. El is stuck on the other side, Steve's hand still in hers but unable to pull her through. Her shoulders drop, and despite Steve's best efforts, she can't get an inch over the barrier that ripples between them. Resigned, she looks down at their hands, her grip starting to loosen some.
Eddie stares at this scene with wide eyes, and a few things suddenly make sense. No wonder Steve wouldn't say who El's godly parent is. She technically doesn't have one. The odd protectiveness makes a lot of sense now, too. And so does the way monsters would apparently move on like the gaggle of demigods was uninteresting.
"Well," Steve says, breaking Eddie out of his epiphany, "we gave it a shot."
With that, he steps back through the barrier, the rest of the kids quickly follow suit, and Eddie can feel them slipping through his fingers. "Wait!" he shouts, relieved when Steve looks up at him.
He's about to give El permission, to say everything is gonna be fine, to beg on his fucking knees if that will keep Steve--and the kids, of course--from walking away.
This is, of course, when the fucking armored and armed barrier patrol (a tradition that never really faded despite the camp's renewed safety) decides to show up.
Eddie just can't get a fucking break, huh?
-------
The moment arrows, swords, and spears (among other weapons) are aimed at them, Steve shoves the kids behind him. El sticks the closest, practically hugging his back, but he knows she'll pull away if it comes down to a fight. Steve twirls his bat, his eyes narrowed as he takes stock of his potential opponents.
The barrier shimmers between the two groups, a slight haze in his vision, and Eddie stands in the middle, one foot on each side of the barrier, looking a little frazzled. That's when a girl comes forward, her blonde hair pulled in a ponytail, a bow in hand, and her quiver slung over her shoulder. She smiles at Eddie, bright like the sun, and Steve feels a familiar-but-not kind of buzzing under his skin.
"Eddie! You're okay!" she shouts, dashing forward and hugging him tightly.
Steve's throat feels tight as Eddie hugs her back, his grip on the bat straining until he hears the reinforced wood groan and forces himself to loosen up. "Eddie," he says, a huge part of him relieved when Eddie immediately looks at him.
The girl looks between the two of them, and her eyes widen, and she smiles excitedly, and Steve suddenly feels a little better.
"Hello, I'm Chrissy," she says, walking over to stand across the barrier from Steve. "We got an alert that a monster was trying to cross, so we came to offer help. Everything looks fine, though, so come on through."
Steve feels El tug on the back of his shirt as the kids shift nervously. "We're good, actually," Lucas blurts out, unable to handle the silence.
Chrissy blinks, her smile still present but her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. "You're...good?" she asks.
"Yeah," Steve says, licking his lips nervously, "I'm sure Camp Half-Blood is fun and all, but we can't stay."
"Why not? You'll be safer here."
Steve doesn't know how to answer that question, and El spares him the effort of trying to by saying, "I can't get through." He wants to spin around and grab her shoulders and ask what she's thinking, but it's El's choice to tell people, no matter how much Steve might disagree with her.
"Oh," Chrissy says, her smile dimming some before she brightens again. "Are you mortal? That's okay, we can just give you permission."
It's the perfect excuse, and Steve is ready to fucking run with it, but El shakes her head. "I'm not mortal," she says.
A heavy silence falls over the group on the other side of the barrier as the demigods understand what she means. "What kind of monster are you?" a boy asks, his hand twitching as though ready to reach for an arrow.
"Look, it doesn't matter," Steve says, a bad feeling forming in his gut. His nerves start buzzing on instinct, crackling and pulling at the clouds just a tiny bit. "We'll leave you alone and go our separate ways. You'll....you'll never see us again." And Steve can't help his voice softening, glancing at Eddie as he says that last part.
Because he wants to see Eddie again. He wants to learn about the literal spark they shared. He wants to know if Eddie's lips are soft or rough. But Steve always puts the kids first. Their safety comes before everything else, even himself.
"Wait! There's no need to go," Eddie says, holding his hands out to both sides but looking at Steve. "El isn't dangerous. We can still give her permission."
"Like Hades we are!" the same boy shouts.
"Jason!" Chrissy says, her tone hard as she whirls around.
Jason looks insulted and confused. "What are you yelling at me for? I'm not the one trying to bring a fucking monster into camp."
"She's not a monster! Stop saying that," Mike shouts, trying to push forward only for Steve to push him right back.
"Oh? Then what is she?" Jason asks.
"Her name is El," Steve says, his voice hard and unforgiving, "and she is my sister."
Several of the campers' eyes widen, and suddenly their bows are loaded and ready to shoot. "You brought two monsters to camp!" a girl shouts, glaring at Eddie.
Steve frowns, trying to control the building anger and wariness. Based on the slowly gathering clouds overhead, it's not working.
"Those things are dangerous," Jason says, his eyes narrowed. "I bet the rest are monsters in disguise, too."
"No!" Eddie shouts, "they got through the barrier."
"Oh? Prove it. Walk through right now."
The kids don't move an inch and neither does Steve. Chrissy turns back to them, an uncomfortable grimace tugging at her lips. "It would really help to diffuse things if you could just step over," she says softly.
"Not without El," Max says, glaring at the group.
"Or Steve," Lucas adds.
Despite everything, Steve can't help a wry smile and a joking, "Gee, thanks for thinking of me," thrown over his shoulder.
"Well, isn't that convenient," Jason sneers, "None of the monsters want to cross."
He pulls his bowstring back a little farther, and the clouds above them start to gather faster, tiny sparks jumping under Steve's hand on the bat. He grits his teeth, trying desperately to not get lost in anger, and takes a deep breath. "Listen, this obviously isn't going to work," he says, looking at Eddie. He smiles apologetically. "Thank you for trying, though. It was...a nice thought."
And then several things happen all at once.
Eddie's eyes widen, desperation seeps into them, and he shouts, "I give El permission to cross the barrier!"
El starts to move around Steve like she wants to talk to Chrissy herself, her beanie squirming obviously.
The rest of the kids behind Steve get caught up in El's movements and try to follow, pushing Steve forward a step and bumping El slightly to the side.
His annoyance flares, and dark clouds stretch above them with a quiet, nearly inaudible rumble of thunder.
Finally, an arrow is loosed from the group of demigods, and its path would have been true if not for the kids pushing Steve. Instead, it shoots El's beanie clear off her head and lands in the grass behind the kids, just barely missing Dustin and Will in the process.
Really, Steve can't be blamed for what happened next. Between El's snakes freaking out and the kids shouting and the arrow in the grass overpowering his vision, he really can't be blamed.
It's only understandable that he loses it, that his tenuous control fucking snaps.
A bellowing crack of thunder above them is the only warning the demigods get before a bolt of lightning strikes the ground right next to them. The sheer force of it creates a whole nearly two feet deep, knocking the demigods back a few feet as more bolts follow in its wake. Each one burns the ground where it strikes, and tiny fires feed on the grass.
Little arches of lightning jump across Steve's arms, his hair fluffing out slightly from the static. His chest is heaving from anger and electricity and the aftermath of so much tension finally breaking free as bolts corral the demigods into a tiny circle, striking all around them to prevent escape.
"Steve," El says, the sound of her grabbing his attention more than her words. But when Steve looks at her and sees the snakes on her head rubbing against each other and tasting the air and trying to stay as close to her scalp as possible, his anger flares again at the reminder of the arrow that could have killed his kids. Not only the arrow, but El's snakes could have hurt them, too. If not for the kids immediately squeezing their eyes shut, a few might be statues right now. Sure, it would wear off in a bit, and Steve is immune anyway since he's related to El, but it's fucking inconvenient and dangerous given the situation.
"Stay back," he growls, his words crackling with the lightning as he turns back to the demigods. They look scared shitless, and Steve hasn't even done anything yet. The only ones who haven't been corralled are Chrissy and Eddie, since neither of them actually did anything.
He steps forward, an arch of lightning stretching between his heel and the ground when he lifts his foot. The nails on his bat spark and glow red, looking nearly as angry as Steve feels. Steve crosses the barrier, feels it wash over him, and stops just on the other side. He smiles at the demigods, feral and unrestrained as a storm, and raises his hand to the sky.
Or he starts to only for his view to be blocked by brown hair in desperate need of a good shampoo and big brown eyes. Steve blinks, a tiny portion of his anger calming if only because he's looking at Eddie. "Move, Eds," he says.
"Stevie," Eddie whispers, his voice nearly drowned out by the rumbling thunder. So Steve pulls it back, forces it to quiet down so he can hear. "C’mon, sweetheart, there's no need to smite them. They've already peed themselves."
"They almost killed my kids," Steve says, his eyes narrowing slightly. "What would you do if you were me?"
"Well, I wouldn't look nearly as hot, for one," Eddie jokes, flashing a shaky smile.
"You're already plenty hot," Steve blurts, the shock of the words calming him down a tiny bit more. And, when he hears Lucas and Erica behind him complain as El thanks Will for retrieving her beanie, his anger finally soothes enough for lightning to stop striking the ground. The clouds are still hanging over them, though, and sparks still arch across his arms and through his hair.
Eddie's smile becomes a bit wider. "Seriously, sweetheart, there's no need," he promises. "I already gave El permission to enter. She can cross the barrier. Word will spread in camp that nobody can mess with her without getting their shit rocked by a very powerful son of Zeus. Don't you want to relax? Don't you want the kids to meet others like them? Don't you...don't you want to, you know, spend time together?"
Steve does want all of that. Especially that last one, because he's never been talked down from an unbridled, anger-fueled, lighting strike marathon this easily. Usually, the kids have to let him work through the anger and vent it all before he's back to normal.
He takes a deep breath, closing his eyes to focus on calming down. When Eddie hesitantly takes his hand, Steve calms down even faster, and the sparks that pass between their palms are harmless. "That's it, Stevie," Eddie whispers as Steve's shoulders relax. "Besides, you can always beat Jason's ass at capture the flag later."
Steve can't help laughing at that, and he opens his eyes to see Eddie's smile. "Looking forward to it," he says, squeezing Eddie's hand. Then he looks over his shoulder at the kids. "Is everyone okay?" he asks.
The kids are all gathered around El, who has secured her beanie over her head. Unfortunately, the arrow made a larger hole than expected, and two of her snakes are poking their heads out, tongues flicking as they taste the air. They aren't strong enough on their own to actually turn anyone to stone, so none of the kids avoid looking at them.
"We are fine," El says with a tiny smile as she steps forward. Steve is about to tell her to be careful when she walks through the barrier without a problem.
The other kids follow, sticking close to El and then orbiting toward Steve and Eddie. "That was awesome!" Dustin shouts, his eyes bright as he looks at the scorch marks that create a circle around the demigods that haven't moved an inch.
"Yes, it was awesome," a voice says, old and wise and belonging to a centaur that has trotted over from the camp gates and comes to a stop before them. "Though, probably not in the way you mean, young one."
"Chiron, hey, how's it going?" Eddie asks, rubbing the back of his neck as he shifts to stand in front of Steve. "This, uh, was all a misunderstanding, really."
Chiron raises an eyebrow at Eddie, but Steve can see the twinkle of amusement in his eyes. "I see. Is that so, Chrissy?" he asks.
"Yeah, it is," Chrissy says, nodding once as she glances at Jason, "because Jason was trigger-happy and wouldn't let anyone talk."
"I see," Chiron says again, looking back at Steve and the kids behind him. "Well, I look forward to hearing all about it and getting to know our potential campers at the Big House. Over some snacks, perhaps?"
He seems nice enough, and something about Chiron just makes Steve feel confident that nothing will happen to the kids. At least, not for the next hour or so, and that's good enough. Still, he can't help pushing just to see the extent of Chiron's patience. "Even if my sister's mother is a gorgon?" he asks, watching Chiron closely.
"Am I correct in assuming her mother is Medusa?" Chiron asks.
"Yes," El says, answering for Steve as the two snakes poking through rub their heads on Steve's arm. "She's very nice."
Chiron seems to be holding back an amused smile at that, and he nods. "I'm sure," he says, nodding once. "Yes, you are still welcome, my dear. After all, our very own Eddie Munson has vouched for you."
Steve can feel the kids behind him relaxing, and he glances at Eddie to see the relieved smile on his face. "Okay then," he says, looking back at Chiron, "lead the way."

after reading the sun and the star my semi-dormant pjo obsession has risen and is infesting my brain side by side with bsd. so.
bsd percy jackson au: a series of self indulgent hcs
skk is the percabeth of the situation. iconic duo. unstoppable. EVERYBODY has heard about them. literal legends among the demigods baby
dazai is a child of athena, chuuya a child of ares
dazai's team beat chuuya's during capture the flag once and chuuya went aight bet. and kicked dazai's ass during the next capture the flag. his team still lost but at least he got an excuse to fight that annoying know-it-all bandaged and beautiful son of athena
the rest is history
the akutagawa sibilings are children of hades. goth mfs
now imagine them having the same storyline as the di angelo sibilings... now in this au you can see why akutagawa talks like he belongs to another age
gin would consider joining the hunters of artemis, but in the end they end up refusing to not leave their brother alone. plus, being immortal would mean seeing him and all of their loved ones die, and gin has had enough of her loved ones dying
if skk is percabeth, shinskk is solangelo
does atsushi fit the standards for a child of apollo? idk but i can't think of another godly parent for him so be it!
unlike will solace, healing is not atsushi's strongest task but he still spends a lot of time helping in the infirmary
and that's where he meets ryūnosuke
unlike solangelo the initial hostility is NOT one sided. ryū behaves like a bitch? atsushi gets bitchy right back.
cue to atsushi looking extremely pissed while bandaging ryū's arm and them muttering insults at each other
ryūnosuke swears he hates that fucking failed doctor and atsushi would almost believe him if it wasn't for the amount of times ryūnosuke has tried sacrificing himself to save him during their quests
also in this au rashomon is a hellhound like mrs. o'learly. she's a sweet doggo that devours space and souls
or she's one of ryū's cocoa puffs? (does this count as a tsats spoiler taken out of context?)
you know that one scene in tsats where nico kisses the back of will's neck and says "i'm proud of you"? now picture that as atsushi to ryūnosuke. yeah.
also atsushi has plague powers bc i say so
yosano is the real will here: overworked healers who feel extremely guilty for every patient that died under their watch to the point of considering themselves murderers
she runs that infirmary like it's the navy
she's also a hell of a fighter, both with bows and arrows and with her own fists
bff with ranpo, who's the oracle!
they gossip abt apollo (boyfail) and complain abt their respective fundamental but hella hard roles at chb
also besties w/ chuuya
also hear me out on kousano in this au... yosano falls helplessly in love with hunter of artemis!kouyou. kouyou tries to convince herself that she's not falling for that bossy and selfless and brave doctor because she has an oath to keep and she couldn't let love knock at her door again. so everytime the hunters come to chb kouyou keeps yosano company and it's all longing looks and painful yearning. yosano wishes she could convince the redhead to break the oath and stay.
but she won't. i <3 kousano angst
moving onto happier lesbians. gin loves wandering by themselves in the forest or by the lake. people know them as the demigod who just fucks off to take a stroll in the woods and disappear there for an indefinite amount of time
and that's how she meets an awkward, stubborn but lovely dryad: you guessed it, it's higuchi!
gin was having a bad day and kicked a tree because they were just so angry— anger turned to guilt when the tree fucking yelped
gin immediately apologized and higuchi asked them what was bothering them. gin never loved to talk, so they were very surprised by themselves when they started rambling about their problems to a dryad they just accidentally hurt
from that day gin began spending even more time in the forest
sometimes they bring higuchi to camp
it isn't unusual for dryads to wander around camp, but higuchi usually kept on her own before meeting gin
higuchi helps gin to open up about their emotions and lower their walls, gin helps higuchi to make friends and to value and love herself
chuuya's fatal flaw is loyalty, dazai's is pride, ryūnosuke's is holding grudges, atushi's is holding too tight onto the past, gin's is also loyalty, yosano's is guilt
tachihara is a child of hermes. parallels between two regretful traitors el oh el
except that luke fucking sucks while tachihara has my heart
OKAY NOW OPEN YOUR EARS. STORMBRINGER ENJOYERS RISE. RIMLAINE AS SILENA AND CLARISSE..... CAN YOU SEE WHAT IS SEE........
lucy is deffff a child of aphrodite but she's so lovely she doesn't even need to use charmspeak to get what she wants. whatever you say beloved princess
idk why but i can picture her throwing an hairbrush at an ancient titant like rachel... her and rachel are acc pretty similiar imo but i will not elaborate
poe is an athena kid! the biggest loser in cabin 6!
lucy and yosano tease him on his crush on ranpo
ranpo is there like damn. is this guy gonna confess or do i have to tell him we are going to date via prophecy
poe is a surprisingly good archer, the apollo kids are almost jealous
nikolai is an hecate kid. a little trickster. a silly magician. he will steal your nose but like in the literal sense and he might not give it back
his best friend is sigma from the aphrodite cabin. sigma cannot fucking stand him
nikolai is actually the reason why sigma has split colored hair. it used to be fully white but one day nikolai went heyyy girlie look at this new hair trick my sibiling taught me :] and sigma ended up actually loving the look? so they kept it
the dryads love sigma and he spends a lot of time with them. they braid flowers in each other's hair and chill
nikolai on the other hand somehow befriended the arpies
fyodor is a child of nemesis. edgelord
jouno is a child of hermes, the eldest in the cabin
half of the camp wants him, the other half wants him gone
teruko is a child of hebe, the goddess of youth!!!!
she's ones of the oldest campers along with jouno, but she prefers to keep her child form for unknown reasons
also i can see her joining the hunters tbh
that's it for now folks i hope someone appreciates my brainrot xoxo

It sounds like part 4 is just going to be the ror!gods going "oh well this will be fine what's the worst that could happen" only to be immediately proven wrong by the pjo!world. To them Percy's world probably seems like some kind of apocalyptic dystopian death world with a personal grudge against Percy. New horrors everyday. Anthonius is allowed to exist. Can you tell me each love interest's least favorite thing that is not Percy related? (ex Poseidon hates that pjo!Poseidon is a whore)
poseidon: absolutely HATES the state of his seas. his counterpart only has a kingdom because he didn't think to conquer and expand??? pathetic. it's so polluted too, WHY DOESN'T PJO!POSEIDON KILL THE HUMANS FOR SULLYING HIS TERRITORY??? there's aquariums, FUCKING SEA WORLD, grocery stores selling dead fish, countries whose main diet consists of SEA FOOD. poseidon is frothing in the mouth with rage
hades: absolutely hates the relationship the elder olympians have, especially the big three. it actually kinda hurts him how broken this family is. he's very disappointed in how the pjo!big 3 behave. they're having petty arguments with each other and killing each other's kids because of it! he is especially disappointed in pjo!zeus, he's become a power-hungry, paranoid, tyrannical king and that says a lot because his little brother is literally called "the tyrant of the seas"
loki: absolutely hates the idea that pjo gods have fallen so low that they would lay with a HUMAN and have half-breed children (which is very hypocritical of him because he's in love with a HALF-BREED, but he'll just say "she's an exception ofc! 💖"), then have the gall to look down on them despite literally needing their existence to survive? no seriously, loki hates how the pjo gods actually NEED humanity to exist in order to not fade away. it's disgusting to him
beelzebub: hmmmm this was kinda hard for me because there are many reasons he hates the pjo verse but most of it is percy-related. the one thing he really hates is how dangerous everything is. this man is super overprotective (for obvious reasons) so learning that demigods literally have monsters hunting after them like 24/7 makes him worried af and paranoid. the fact that percy's constantly sent on quests and wars??? he'd hyperventilate. it does not help learning that greek demigods barely make it to adulthood 💀
apollo: this one is more specific, but he hates how pjo!apollo wasn't allowed to save artemis after she was kidnapped. pjo!apollo wasn't allowed to interfere and literally risked getting into A LOT of trouble by breaking ancient laws to help percy and the questers. ror!apollo really really REALLY doesn't like the "no interference rule".
but i think THE NUMBER ONE THING that ALL ror gods hate the most..... is how restrictive everything is in the pjo verse.
think about it. there are SOOO many things that the pjo gods can't do that would just baffle ror gods:
they can't go to each other's realms/homes. early in the lightning thief, percy asks why can't zeus and poseidon just go to the underworld and to beat up hades for stealing the bolt and chiron was like "they're not allowed to". like, that's just insane for ror!gods!!!
they can't reveal themselves to the humans??? ror midgardians don't believe in the gods anymore because the ror gods literally hate their asses so much that barely any of them go down to midgard anymore and just chill in valhalla. meanwhile in pjo, humans simply stopped believing in them and the gods decided they should play along and have hecate create the mist so they wouldn't know about the "mythical" world
they can't interfere too much in the lives of humans. humans are literally fucking up the environment in pjo and gods don't go around committing massacres as punishment because they're no longer allowed to interfere or something like that 💀 then there's the ror gods casually committing genocide on multiple nations and even going so far as to COMPLETELY WIPE OUT ALL OF HUMANITY 💀
can't go around killing humans whenever they want cuz they need them to survive. also connected to the one above. pjo gods need demigods and humanity in order to not fade away from existence. which is VERY weird to ror gods because their existence is not influenced by humanity AT ALL. it's why they're able to commit so many genocides against them.
can't raise their demigod children. yeah a lot of ror gods are gonna be disgusted at the thought of half-breed kids existing but like.... they're genuinely confused as to why pjo gods can't raise them cuz wtf
can't act freely so they gotta use demigods to do their dirty work. connected to the "can't go to each other's realms/homes" and "can't interfere too much" rule ^^. because of how restricted pjo gods are, they gotta act indirectly by using demigods to do their dirty work for them (pjo!apollo couldn't save his sis because he wasn't allowed to, had to literally break ancient laws just so he could give percy and co some help). ror gods have no such restrictions and can do as they please
and im pretty sure there's more, but that's the gist of it that i can remember rn

Hello! So I'm in the PJO Fandom (have been for a couple of years) and I wanna talk about some of the characters that get hate or aren't understood. Starting with Bianca Di Angelo. There ARE spoilers to HoO and TOA, proceed with caution.
Bianca and Nico grew up in WWII era Italy and were brought to DC when Bianca was...10?? I think?? Whatever that's not the point, when they were brought to DC with their mom, Zeus had tried to kill them (because hades, Zeus, and poseidon kids were too powerful and Bianca was a hades kid) but he only killed their mom because hades had a barrier around the two kids. Fast forward to when we meet them, Bianca is 12 and Nico is either 9 or 10 (can't remember but that's not the point) and Bianca leaves Nico to join the hunters of Artemis. On the surface level, you might think that's a pretty shitty thing to do but let me put this into perspective for you: their dad is a God, meaning he can't associate with his kids directly and their mother died. Bianca had to become the sole caretaker to a hyperactive 9 or 10 year old boy for 70+ years. The ONLY reason she left was because she KNEW Nico would be safe at CHB (or as safe as you could be) she wanted to do something for HERSELF for once. It's not her being a bad sister, it's her wanting to finally do something for HERSELF. As an older sibling, I can understand her more than anything.
Next, Reyna. She grew up in Puerto Rico with her older sister and father, she was the first person in her family to be a decendant of Bellona, but her father became manic and she killed him. In doing so, all of her ancestors had gathered and called her a murderer-punishable by death at camp Jupiter. She and her sister fled Puerto Rico. Fast forward to current times, she's 16 years old and a commander of camp Jupiter. She's the one that brought peace between the Greek and Roman demigod camps. 16 and a commander. Why is she disliked so much? I think she's a badass person who shouldn't be treated like filth-from ANYONE, fictional or not. She's been through so much and yet you don't like her? Grow up.
Next is...well Jason AND Thalia Grace. Thalia and Jason were born a couple years apart (I not sure how many) to the Greek and Roman forms of Zeus. Their mother was a beloved actress who turned to the bottle because Zeus wouldn't notice her anymore. Jason was kidnapped by Hera when he was 2 and brought to Lupa. Thalia ran away from home. Fast forward to current time, she finally finds her brother again, but his memories are...well, they aren't in tact. Thalia is a hunter of Artemis and Jason is a child soilder. Thalia is forever 15 and Jason just turned 16 while on a quest to defeat Gaia. In which he nearly died. He hadn't seen his sister in YEARS and he couldn't even remember her because Hera had wiped his memories, can you imagine how they both felt? Thalia was so relieved to see him alive and he didn't even remember her face. They're both so complex and I WISH we saw them together more...instead Thalia will never see her brother again because he's dead.
Next, funshine bear personified: Will Solace. Okay, where to start with him...his mother traveled all over as a country singer bringing him along. When he was 9, monsters disguised as pigeons attacked him. He was brought to camp half blood, claimed by Apollo and then...well..hell broke loose. In the first war, he lost so many of his siblings it-hurts. The ONLY reason he's head of the Apollo cabin, is because the one before him died. He was only about maybe 11 or 12 when he was leading the main healing legion in the war with Kronos. He's lost so many people in his life, yet when people think of him they only think about him being Nico's boyfriend.
There's so much more and I could do a whole essay on this. ESPECIALLY Bianca and Rachel, but for now: please read their backstories before you say someone is selfish.

Reading The Dark Prophecy: Chapter 23 (SPOILERS)
"So amaze! Such name! / Sssssarah with five s's is / Still two syllablessssss" THIS IS THE ONE. I saw this poem on a post once and have been waiting to reach this chapter ever since. I yearn to meet Sssssarah.
"the tiny forest of green stalks pointed toward the left-hand corridor." When in doubt, seek the counsel of the plants. How do they know which way to go? They were only just born today.
"television monitors showing--you guessed it--videos of Commodus." clap clap clap "COMMODUS COMMODES." No opportunities missed here.
"sand 'You Don't See Me'" That's a cool way of manipulating the Mist, but it takes way longer than a simple finger snap.
"but he made no attempt to hide his chest-face." Why would he? Apollo keeps bringing this up. It's normal for their species and there are no mortals around to disguise from. Blemmyae shouldn't have to hide who they are, and it is right of them not to.
"Everything is hunky-dorky." I'm sorry, hunky-dorky? Apollo.
"What are you doing?" She's picking up her chia sprouts, can't you see? She can't just leave them around to be captured by the guards.
"But here, instead of animals, the cages held people." Woah, okay, this got dark quick. "In the center of the room was a metal post with iron hooks and chains--the sort of place where one could fasten slaves for inspection before sale." Aaaand it got darker still. This was not something I expected to see in a PJO book. Okay.
"they turned my holy island of Delos into the region's biggest slave market . . . correct that situation, slaughtering twenty thousand Romans in the process. But I mean, come on. They had it coming." One of the few times I'll say Apollo's endorsement of mass murder was justified. If you defend slavery, whatever negative karma falls upon you is righteous.
"The boys tried to stand without success." How long have they been in here? "launched herself through the hole, and gracefully somersaulted" I'm gonna guess she's been here less than a day if she still has that energy. Or could it be the blessing of Artemis?
"I guessed the plight of Lester Papadopoulos was known among the Hunters." Oh right, they would know from Artemis. Again, where's Artemis through all this? Is she not allowed to contact Apollo? Is she being punished, too?
"I suspect your comrades have arrived." Wait, are we actually gonna see the Hunters today? Yippeeeeeee
"They've been on a hunger strike." Oh, that's daring of them. I wonder who they are and what their backstories are. They sound like they might be significant.
"I"m Hunter Kowalski" You... I'm not going to say anything.
"but one was a dracaena." Sssssarah!!!
"he looked like a teak warrior brought to life through the craft of Hephaestus." Teak is a tree, so, like, a wooden figurine brought to life. Like Pinocchio. "Tattooed on his right shoulder was . . . a double-bladed ax." Demigod. This one's a demigod. "stepped out slowly and gracefully" No, no, no. Whenever someone does that walk, you know they're the enemy.
"a young girl" I was starting to think Georgina would never show up! "She was large for her age--about Leo's size" That's not large. What you have right there is a giant seven year old. I'm thinking she might be the kid of a Germani. That aside, we found Festus!
Someone in this room, one of the prisoners released, is going to die. One of them definitely is. It can't be Georgina because the plot isn't setting up to hurt Jo or Emmie. It's not TD&H Jamie 'cause he isn't significant to the heroes' side. If he does die, it's not going to be an emotional death. It could be Hunter the Hunter, but a bunch of Hunters already died in The Blood of Olympus, so doing it again would risk being repetitive. Not out of the question, though. It's probably going to be one of the mysterious hunger strike boys whose names we haven't even got yet. They act like they might be brothers, and if they are, that raises their chances of death by about 200%. It's almost expected that one sibling should die whenever two are introduced, or any pair of two people, really. Castor, Bianca, Silena... I'm honestly shocked Travis Stoll went to college instead of dying. Maybe he gets special beta reader privileges. (Travis Stoll was named after one of the beta readers of the original books. It would probably be rude to kill his character.) Anyway, one or both of these two boys is going to be dead by the end of the book, mark my words.

hi! thanks for asking me to clarify!
so, yes, a few weeks ago rick "confirmed" that reyna was ace on a twitter thread. ignoring how jkr-ish that is, confirming a character to be something outside of the books, it was a blatant spit in the face to wlw fans who saw themselves in reyna (myself included :) ).
first, in 2017, rick shut down wlw people for seeing themselves in reyna, as making reyna a lesbian would have been 'stereotypical' or implying that she was only gay due to the fact she had been rejected by men in romance. this is stupid. comphet is something many, many wlw deal with and something most of us can relate to. and rick telling actual wlw that that was harmful is incredibly disrespectful. secondly, isnt making her ace just as bad in his mind then? perpetuating the lie that people are only ace because they can't get with a man?
to move on to your next point, many wlw have pointed out how the rep we have gotten has been...lacking. emmie and jo, from toa, were kicked out of the hunters because of their love. lavina, who i dont have the authority to speak on as i am not jewish but jewish people have expressed concern at her rep, is also a singal minor character.
And, something major, the hunter have historically been linked to sapphic/wlw people. rick making the hunters aro/ace is spitting in the historical and mythological representation of the hunters. artemis has always been a symbol for wlw. and, if you havent been seeing criticism, you are following the wrong blogs.
this is kinda janky and stitched together, ill admit, but i highly recommend checking out @/housemartius' blog for his pjo rep masterpost. he has complied an extensive list and i cannot recommend it highly enough for understanding what and how rick has fucked up in his rep. that has all the recipts your looking for as i am unable to provide accurate sources as im currently on mobile and a bit busy! :)
and to make it a bit personal, i, as a lesbian, found it hurtful to exclude my identity from the hunters, a group i fantasized being in as a child. i understand ace and aro people also deserve rep, but it should not come at the cost of other people being hurt.
slán! (also sorry for bringing this back onto peoples dashes again!)
hnh? i just wanna say that if you're ace/aro/or on the ace/aro spectrum i'm very happy that you guys have found rep in the hunters and in reyna. seriously. you guys never get enough rep and i am happy that you have some!
BUT.
your rep does not cancel out the lespobhobia that rick has displayed not only now but over the years. we aren't hating on ace/aro reyna but on the fact that rick hates wlw and lesbians and has openly attacked lesbians/wlw who have advocated for lesbian reyna.
(also also, its well within aro/ace peoples rights to see the rep as half-assed or shitty. Send tweet)

I...it's just sad that someone has to tell it. Like, I've seen so many people from pjo fandom especially, writing Apollo and Artemis like they hate/are annoyed by each other. I mean, Apollo is this goofy flirt who has literally no other job than flirting with the hunters and making His serious, feminist twin sister annoyed. Or He is this jerk who thinks low about his sister in terms of strength and Artemis in the end proves him wrong by kicking His ass. It's always this irritating sterotype. I literally go "uuuurrrgggghhh" when I read that kind of fics.
I mean, considering the situations they have faced, they'd be thick as thieves with shit ton of respect and love for one another. They've spent some dark time on Delos together. They're so protective of one another and can't stand anyone who'd hurt the other. Apollo got Orion killed. Artemis didn't even care to think if Koronis was right or wrong before killing her, She just wanted to punish the mortal that hurt Her brother. There is also a version which says that when Artemis had gone to face Otis and Ephialtes (the aloadae), it was Apollo who sent the deer between the giants because He didn't want His sister to get even slightly hurt.
If you read some hymns, there is one which says that in Olympian halls, all the Gods and Goddesses offer the seat next to Them and ask Artemis to sit near Them but She always sits only next to Apollo. They frickin love each other okay.
The only time Artemis actually expresses Her disappointment towards Apollo is during Trojan war when He straight up refuses to fight Poseidon because of family values.
And I don't even know where the thing of Apollo flirting with Her hunters came because honestly, Apollo would be the last person to do that because He respects Artemis and everything that She believes in (also nowhere in the mythology does He do that...). So fuck all those parts in Riordanverse where Apollo flirts with any of the hunters and annoys His sister.
Like seriously, these twins are so understanding, so close to one another, literally becoming the Sun God and the Moon goddess and representing the inevitable, beautiful duality, and these newbies doing them wrong based on the shit written in the books is so frustrating. People, kids, don't trust Rick Riordan for an accurate representation of Greek Gods, their relationship or the Greek culture.
Philotes Rants about Misinterpreted Relationships between Greek gods: Entry #1
Platonic relationship: Artemis and Apollo
Artemis is not disappointed by her brother. She jokes that Apollo can be a disappointment sometimes, but could never really believe it. She adores her brother, and could never be prouder of him.
Apollo has always been close with his sister, and often turned to her in times of need. He has her back, and she has his, and that is that. He feels her pain, both physical and emotional, and goes to her immediately. He never wants her to be alone if he can help it.
They’re great siblings, and hecc you if you believe otherwise. Let them be and allow them to have a soft sibling relationship.
